[xxx]power steering system tiresfuel pump air bagsbattery everything has been falling apart since 2018, it's been fixed and couple months later, the same problem comes up. Hi,i received a recall on my passenger's airbag.i had the dealership where i bought the car (i am the original owner) replace the passenger's airbag.at the same time for about a month i had been hearing a rubbery rubbing squeaky sound when turning the steering wheel to the left or right.i asked the mechanic what the problem is.he said the problem is in the driver's steering wheel airbag.this is a takata airbag.i would like it replaced at no cost as there are problems with the airbags and there is a recall on takata airbags. I do not trust the driver's airbag and it is making a disturbing sound.thank you....

Driving at highways of greater than 40 mph and beginning to brake, the vehicle will cut off.it will restart; however, this has started to be a frequent and dangerous occurrence.after several times, i did some research and found that there was a voluntary recall campaign bulletin r3022 and nhtsa #03v-455 (engine sensors), being reported on nov. 17, 2003.nissan north america, inc. Says that the recall campaign has been closed out.nhtsa says the recall campaign is open for 10 yrs from the date the recall was reported, being nov. 17, 2013.today's date is aug. 23, 2013.nissan will not honor the recall. The cost to repair is $625.19.additionally, there was a voluntary recall campaign bulletin r2006 (transverse link replacement) which nissan north america, inc. Claims they cannot see.lastly, there is another recall r1302 (front passenger air bag inflator) of august 14, 2013, that nissan claims they aren't showing as well.i am utterly frustrated and fed up with nissan north america, inc.the dealers will not honor any recall that nissan north america, inc. Does not recognize even if you have the documentation of the recall.

I own a 2002 nissan maxima with low miles, approximately 102,000. The engine turns over but does not start. The dealer states that the problem within the electrical harness and behaves as if the alarm remains armed. The dealer stated that he owned the same car around that year and the same thing occurred.the car has been cared for properly over the years and feel the manufacturer should assume some responsibility for the repair.
Problem related to cam position sensors (cam shaft sensor and possibly vias sensors).this intermittent failure, causes the car to buck.often this will cause the car to stall.this issue is prominent with a large percentage of nissan maxima 2002 owners as well as a number of additional nissan years and models (murano, altima).the frequency of the issue occurring for nissan owners as well as the severity - stalls have occurred for me us at any time including middle of intersection and also on the highway resulting in some very close calls and potential upcoming accidents.nissan's negligence in recalling and fixing this problem, is likely to lead to accidents and loss of life.the nissan dealer has not responded to my direct requests to please fix the issue as they will only do this if nissan issues a recall.please look into this, this is an extremely frequent and expensive repair for nissan owners.people's lives are at risk if this is not addressed and this is the avenue that the northeast nissan rep said i need to take to start the recall process.
Purchased used from dealer in petaluma california in february 2010. No problems until vehicle began loosing power while driving at 55. Dash abs indicator light came on. Vehicle suddenly slowed to 5 miles an hour, rpm's decreased. Steering still enabled as well as brakes. Almost caused accident several times. Towed to dealer (santa rosa nissan, santa rosa california). Rented a car. Just received call from dealer stating i need an alternator, belts and have a massive oil leak at valve cover gasket. Told him i spilled oil yesterday, my mechanic already checked for leaks, there are none. Made him aware of the 3 recalls on this vehicle addressing loss of power (2 out of 3 recalls). Said he would check and get back to me. My mechanics have not mentioned belts or alternator to me.
The car had a recall performed on 08/02/2011 to replace crankshaft and camshaft position sensors, the car ran perfectly before the said recall. The mentioned recall also included an earlier recall which was ineffective. Some time after the recall was performed the car would stall intermittently without triggering a code. Finally the stalling triggered a code on 01/29/13 which was a crankshaft position sensor. The dealer confirmed that the crankshaft position sensor code was triggered but denied that it had anything to do with the stalling problem and returned the car with the intermittent stalling condition without a diagnoses. Eventually the car was diagnosed as a bad crankshaft position sensor and repaired on 11/08/2013 after two more visits to the dealer and numerous calls to nissan north america. This was very same crankshaft position sensor installed by the recall #r3022 which was bad and in effect renders recall #r3022 (nissan)ineffective, at least in my case. Nissan refused to pay for diagnoses and repair of the failed recall. This failed recall cost me $656.08 as well as endangered many lives. Note: the car only has 26,000 miles on it.
In sept. 2014, my car was in for service and recall number "03v455000" was performed. The 2 camshaft sensors and 1 crankshaft sensor were to all be replaced. In april 2016, my car was experiencing problems with all 3 sensors. My car would stop at any moment (stopped or driving). I've been in many intersections or the interstate and it'll die on me and take a long time to crank back up. I had to pay over $120 at the dealership to get the diagnosis. Upon looking at my recall paperwork, only the crankshaft sensor was replaced. When bringing that info to dealer, they claimed it was a kit that included all 3 sensors. Every single internet search, including nissan's own public parts website, says that part # 23731-al60c is a single crankshaft sensor and could not prove that their internal/private parts system claimed it was a kit.i them reached out to the nissan recall number (1-800-647-7261) listed on the recall to explain the issue with all the sensors not being replaced. After a few calls, my info was routed to a regional associate. I asked her if she needed to explain the story to her and she said she didn't. After 5 days, the regional associate called me back and explained to me that she reached out to the dealership and said that nissan is agreeing with the dealership and cannot assist me any further. She could see the work information, but seemed simply sided with the dealership without any further info or questioning me for a better understanding.
2k2 hid theft. Front lights. Hood, grill, electrical, fender and bumper damage.
The contact owns a 2002 nissan maxima. While driving approximately 55 mph, the vehicle stalled. The contact coasted the vehicle to the shoulder and it would not restart. The vehicle was jumpstarted and driven to an independent mechanic (auto zone in rochester, minnesota) who diagnosed that the alternator failed. The vehicle was repaired by an independent mechanic, but the vehicle stalled again. The friend of the independent mechanic diagnosed that the bushing failed. The vehicle was taken to the contact's residence and had not been driven since. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 155,000.
Airbags didn't deploy after front end collision. (june 2017)pictures after accident available.
Automatic and manual door locks fail to unlock drivers door thereby preventing easy egress from vehicle in case of emergency.once failure occurs the drivers door can not be opened from inside or outside forcing the passenger to evacuate the vehicle via the open window or passenger side door.the failure has occurred randomly over the last 30 days.no repairs have been completed as root cause of problem has not be diagnosed.
In reference to >nhtsa campaign number: 03v455000 component(s): engine and engine cooling i nearly crashed when my car died while merging onto a freeway. My car doesn't start like it used to. Very rough starts, continuously to get the engine to turn. It will die while car is moving. This happens abruptly and suddenly while driving. Rpms idle higher than normal. Engine loss. I used obd scanner to decipher the problem. I looked for recall online and found the one located above.it is identical to my issues.i contacted nissan and they refused. I could have died. Please help thank you!
Over heating gurgling in over flow, had radiator flushed and topped off, still over heat, looking at my recites it says i have a leaking water hose but no one replaced it, on 9/27/16.drove my car threw winter then went to another machanic had the thermostat replaced on 6/30/17 still over heat, brought car back to nissan dealer on 1/19/18 told them it still gurgels and there was a slight hesitation when driving and i noticed my power steering hose was leaking, was told i need a water pump and radiator, power steering said was fixed and visc valve was stuck open so replaced , said car is good to go so when my girl friend and i got in the car the check engine light was on he said it's probably because of the new parts he then took the light off said drive it 30 miles so i could have a smog done, drove south bound on hwy 101 in santa rosa going 60 mph and the car shut down and all lights where flashing, had no power to get in a safe place off the freeway, coasted down the off ramp to gas station and called nissan, they said have it towed back, while waiting for tow i lifted my hood to find not only was my power steering still leeking but two other hoses were leeking as well. When i looked at my recite it said found that both power steering hoses were leeking as well as high pressure power line but only pressure hose was replaced, i asked why they all weren't replaced while showing them the leak they said we will order those hoses today and i don't have to pay, lol really? one day later the manager wanted to speak to me with the mechanic ,long story short now i need a alternator, battery, coil, spark plugs,so i go and buy the spark plugs and alternator another $ 321 and $245 to fix , it sits now at nissan with more problems then ever, and it almost cost my friend and i my life on the freeway, i looked up recalls on my year and found there where some on it shutting down
Per nissan, no recalls on the following=1.cd player does not work, shows error2. Fuel gauge does not work, shows full all the time and have ran out of gas-complete safety hazard!!3.transmission needed replaced-did not have reverse-complete safety hazard4.catalytic converter needed replaced-stalled on the side of the highway due to loss of power and avoided an accident-complete safety hazard5.motor needed replaced-motor quit working while on the highway-avoided an accident while i lost power. I went over and beyond always replacing the motor oil & filter at 3000 miles6.speakers quit working and will blare back on unexpectedly while driving startling me, the volume does not work-complete safety hazard7.front air bag sensor corroded and had to be replaced-thankfully no injuries as a result if i had been in an accident!8.front suspension replaced including pin-nissan shows a notice on this but not a recall!!!!????? 9.drivers side door arm rest broke apart and had cut my elbow while driving10.rear wheel wells/fenders are rusting thru.
Head lights were stolen from the vehicle. Damage was done to the electrical system, hood and bumper because thief knew that there was no motion sensor alarm. The brackets holding each $724 light is made of plastic and can easily be snapped/broken. The anti-theft kit doesn't do anything because it doesn't fix the issue that the lights can still be removed by breaking the bracket without opening the hood. The horn wiring was also removed because of its easy accessibility through the grill.*la

I am on my fourth battery since owning the vehicle. This is a temporary fix and will last a few months and the same thing will start to happen. They did a diagnosis and could not find anything.

The contact owns a 2002 nissan maxima gle.when accelerating from a stop, the vehicle will completely shut off and not restart.the incident occurred twice and the vehicle was towed to a mechanic on both occasions.the first time the battery was replaced and the second time the cause of failure was determined to be the crank position sensor.the contact is experiencing the same failure as noted in recall # 03v455000 (engine and engine cooling).the manufacturer stated that the vin was not included in the recall.the current and failure mileages were 54,550.the consumer stated nissan did not find the cause of the problem, when the vehicle was taken to an independent dealer he determined the cause was a fluctuating voltage given out by the alternator and a worn wire harness which could of shorted the system. Upon the repair of the defects, there is no further investigation needed. Updated 07/18/07

Driving under normal conditions.ping and nocking coming from engine during light acceleration.causes loss of power , loud noise and possible internal engine damage if goes un repaird. Nissan is aware of the problem but chooses not to make it a recall.uses tactics to get owner of vehicle to pay for repair or ultimately repairs while making customer aware they are one of the lucky ones.
Excessive cranking time before engine turns over. Occasionally have to attempt to start more than once. Once started engine makes a chattering noise as the rpm's drop to idle... Dealer states "cannot duplicate at this time". *nlm

The contact owns a 2002 nissan maxima. While driving low speeds, the vehicle stalled. The contact pulled over and restarted the vehicle. There were no warning indicators illuminated. The failure occurred intermittently. The dealer was not contacted. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 125,000.
The contact owns a 2002 nissan maxima. The contact stated that while driving approximately 45 mph, various warning indicators illuminated prior to the vehicle stalling. The vehicle was coasted to the roadside and restarted. The vehicle resumed normally for a short distance before the failure recurred and the engine failed to restart. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic, who replaced the alternator. The failure recurred after the repair. The independent mechanic informed the contact that the defect was contributed to the cam shaft position sensor. The vehicle was previously repaired under a recall associated with nhtsa campaign id number 03v455000 (engine and engine cooling). The vehicle was not repaired for the recent failure. The failure mileage was unavailable.
Driving on circle intersection the car shut off unable to turn steering wheel and crashed into a building totaling car.
The contact owns a 2002 nissan maxima. While driving at approximately 35 mph, there was a sudden loss of acceleration and the vehicle stalled. The vehicle was able to restart after approximately fifteen minutes. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 150,000. The vin was not available.
While driving on they highway my vehicle "jerked" while i was going roughly 70mph. When that happened it kind of hesitated and then my "slip" and tcs light came on.later on that day my vehicle completely stalled while stopped at a intersection.it started back up but started very hard.i arrived at my destination and turned it off for roughly 10 minutes.i tried to start it and it would not start.my vehicle sat for about 2 hours and when i tried it again, it started right up.i researched this problem and found that there was a recall for nissans for the crank position sensor.all of these issues i had seemed to match up with this recall.per nissan my vin number was not one of the affected vehicles.i find that hard to believe.i had to get my vehicle fixed so i did that today.the problem with my car was the cam position sensor and the crank position sensor.the auto service place called nissan and nissan stated to them "this is a known issue" i am not very happy with nissan right now.i feel that my issues should be taken into consideration for the recall.everything that happened relates back to the recall.recall i am referring to is campaign id number: 03v455000.please review my notes and maybe i can get some help!
Driving home on freeway my nissan engine shuts off while driving in excess of 65mph and being that its a manual transmission it tries to start from rolling but jerks real hard like the brakes are locked up and ive almost went off the road 10 times. Ive tried changing the crankshaft position sensor but cannot locate it and all area autozones don't know where it is either. From what ive got my car has already been part of the sensor recall but has been failing for the last 2 1/2 years and recently blew a coil pack from the damaged sensor. Also the car wont start on one quick turn in a millisecond like it used to, it takes about 5 seconds of turning over to start everytime now.
The car experiences significantly reduced engine power, u nable to rev above 2500 without it feeling limited.the engine suddenly stops running without warning during vehicle operation making it difficult to steer or brake to get to a safe location.this has occurred 3 times this past week and i have stopped driving the vehicle. I'm now wondering if the dealer actually performed the recall (nhtsa campaign #03v455000) back in 2003!!! they need to recall this again.
The contact owns a 2002 nissan maxima. The contact stated that while driving approximately 60 mph, there was loss of engine power without warning. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic, who stated that the engine wiring harness would need to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the defect. The approximate failure mileage was 140,000. Updated 06/10/14 ma updated 09/25/2017
The contact owns a 2002 nissan maxima. While driving at a low speed, the vehicle stalled. The contact was able to restart the vehicle. The air bag warning indicator illuminated and "service engine soon" was displayed across the message board. The failure recurred on numerous occasions. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where it was diagnosed that the vehicle was previously repaired per nhtsa campaign number: 03v455000 (engine and engine cooling). The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who diagnosed that the crank position sensors were not replaced per the recall remedy. The vehicle was not repaired. The vin was included in nhtsa campaign number: 15v287000 (air bags). The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 168,000.
The contact owns a 2002 nissan maxima. The contact stated that the vehicle would not start. An independent mechanic diagnosed that the cam shaft position sensor and the variable timing sensor failed, which were both connected to the circuit board. The vehicle was taken to headquarter nissan (1725 whittlesey rd, columbus, ga 31904) and the contact was informed that the only recall pertaining to the vehicle was for nhtsa campaign number: 15v287000 (air bags). The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired by the dealer. The manufacturer was not contacted. The failure mileage was 88,000.
The contact owns a 2002 nissan maxima. The contact stated that while driving 30 mph, the vehicle stalled without warning. The vehicle was not repaired and the manufacturer was notified. The approximate failure mileage was 175,000.
The side mounted engine in nissans (all models using this mounting method) seems to create a systemic problem with engine mount failure which seems to occur after the vehicle has been in use for some extended period of time.when i was checking on the repair of a young friend's nissan, another driver came in with a nissan that seemed to have the same problem.my young friend bought the car used so i don't know if there was ever a recall. Repairs (parts and labor) are about $500.

The dealership did not have the parts to perform the crank position sensor weld recall 03v455000 for almost 3 months.
The contact owns a 2002 nissan maxima. While the vehicle was parked the contact noticed the engine light illuminated on the instrument panel. The vehicle was taken to the dealer for diagnostic testing.the technician stated the crank position sensor had to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. There was a recall under nhtsa campaign id number: 03v455000 (engine and engine cooling) that may be related to the failure. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and stated the vin was not included. The approximate failure mileage was 130,400.
The contact owns a 2002 nissan maxima. While driving 40 mph the service engine warning light illuminated on the instrument control panel, and then the vehicle stalled. He was able to restart the vehicle, but it stalled four times afterwards. The vehicle was taken to a local repair facility and a mechanic concluded that thecam-shaft position sensor failed. He notified the dealer in reference to recall# 03v455000 (engine and engine cooling). He was advised that since his vehicle identification number was excluded from the recall, he was ineligible for a free remedy. No repairs were made. He was in the process of notifying the manufacturer. The failure and current mileages were 117,482.
The contact owns a 2002 nissan maxima. The contact stated that while driving at 60 mph, the vehicle stalled without warning. The dealer was not informed of the failure. The manufacturer was contacted and informed of the failure. The contact was informed that the vehicle was previously repaired under nhtsa campaign number: 03v455000 (engine and engine cooling) and would not receive a second free repair. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 130,000. Consumer states that when vehicle was purchased the service engine soon light came on. There was a voluntary recall (recall id # 03v455000) for my 2002 nissan maxima. The repair was performed in the spring of 2004. The recall specifies that they will replace both the "crankshaft position sensor and the camshaft position sensor(s), and in some cases the variable timing control sensor(s)". They only replaced the crankshaft sensor per their service order and they refuse to replace the camshaft sensor(s).

The radiator core support is rusting and has lead to a large hole on the bottom. The engine brace is mounted where the rust is forming. If the rust forms bad enough around the bolts the engine could fall down. Also the hood latch is connected the bottom of the core support. If this fails the rust can cause the hood to open while driving.
Check engine light started coming on.several weeks later, vehicle started stalling in traffic, almost causing me to get rear ended.trouble scanner showed camshaft position sensor a- bank 1 circuit malfunction.started checking the problem on the computer, and found someone else had the problem and paid dearly to get it fixed.using campaign number provided, 03v455000, discovered 2002 maxima gle, vin[xxx], was not covered.read complaintnumber [xxx].obviously, the 2002 maxima was not in the recall.i was sure this is an expensive repair.do i have an option in this case. The contact owns a 2002 nissan maxima. While driving approximately 45 mph, the vehicle started to make hissing noises and completely shut down. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired and the contact was informed that the vehicle was included in nhtsa campaign number: 15v287000 (air bags). The technician made the manufacturer aware of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 68,000. The consumer stated the air bag was replaced. Also, the check engine light illuminated. However, the dealer stated there would be a charge to diagnose it.updated 03/17/16.
Had a throttle body cleaning done on my car and as soon as i left the mechanic shop my engine light came on. I have since had to replace the throttle body and still my car will not relearn (and that was done at a nissan dealer), now they say i need a new computer. I have also lost 75 miles a tank in gasoline sine the fuel system cleaner. The shop will not take responsibility, nissan will not take responsibility, and the 3 step fuel system cleaner manufacturer will not take responsibility. In fact, they all blame eachother and still my car is not fixed, im -75 miles a tank, idle is high, idle's high when i push the brake pedal, engine light wont go off and still wont re-learn.
The contact owns a 2002 nissan maxima. The contact was driving 40 mph when the vehicle stalled with the illumination of all of the warning lights. The vehicle would not immediately restart and approximately twenty minutes later, the vehicle successfully restarted but the failure recurred moments later. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, where the contact was informed that the cam shaft position sensor failed. The vehicle was repaired. The contact owns a 2002 nissan maxima.while driving between 2 and 50 mph, the vehicle lost power.the power steering and brakes failed and the service engine warning light illuminated also.the vehicle was able to be restarted.the dealer stated that the crank position sensor needed to be replaced.the vehicle was repaired under nhtsa campaign id number 03v455000 (engine and engine cooling).the failure mileage was 25,000 and current mileage was 60,189.
This incident inovlves my nissan maxima 2002 se with automatic transmission.while driving on i-25 in rush hour traffic at approximately 70 mph, the car started to buck and engine power was severely reduced.the car immediately slowed to less than 45 mph and just missed being hit from behind by the following traffic.i was fortunate to maintain control and work my way over to the shoulder.when stopped the car stalled and was difficult to restart.i was able to restart the car and was able to drive to the dealership at very reduced speed (<45 mph).the dealership informed me of a current technical service bulletin out for the car and that since my car was out of warranty (3 yr/36000 mile) current mileage 37500.i would have to incur the cost of replacement.this seems to be a very serious defect with the mass/flow sensor according to the bulletin and i wonder why this is not a recall type replacement.i consider myself lucky to be here with such a severe product defect.especially one that is easily repaired and should be instituted in cars currently in service but not yet repaired.nissan's reluctance to incur the cost of my repair just because it's out of warranty is a bad customer relation move on their part, but besides that i believe not recalling this part puts other motorists at risk.thank you.
The vehicle experienced valve rattle from motor on initial start up and bluish smoke came out of the tail pipe.the car was left parked and subsequentlystarted the following morning.the problem did not recur at the dealer.*nlm
Completing tune up on vehicle when oil was found in spark plug tube which could have led to engine failure/fire. Nissan customer service was notified and failed to correct the issue. Dt*: the contact stated there was a recall nhtsa campaign01v357000 concerning the engine. However, the recall did not correct the problem.the service engine light continued to illuminate which caused the contact to fail inspection.although the vehicle displayed no obvious problems, the contact took the vehicle to an independent repair shop.the repair shop performed a diagnostic test, which detected a problem with the crank shaft position sensors.both crank shaft sensors were replaced as were the previous sensors as indicated in the recall.the manufacturer offered no reimbursement because the repair was not performed at an authorized dealership.

On march 21, the headlights on my nissan maxima were stolen for the second time.the first time it happened few months ago.it's really difficult to pay a $500 deductible every time the headlights are going to be stolen.i think it's going to continue all the time.if i knew the headlights were such a target for thieves, i would have never bought the maxima.
Both my headlights were stolen for the second time on 4/28/03.
Moisture developed in the headlights whichcould cause the headlights to malfunction at anytime. Dealership refused to inspect the vehicle to find the cause of the moisture.

I hope nissan would take my headache away by taking back their garbage 2002 maxima, because this car is a piece of garbage and nissan should be a shamed of themselves to manufacture a $750.00 light with two plastic brackets that my 7 year old son can break out of the car within (30 seconds yes 30 seconds) my xeon light has been stolen five times (5) from january, my car has sit in the nissan repair ship for about six months out of the year. Could nissan explain this or try to comprehend this problem that it's customers are going trough, do they even care, nissan make from me alone 1,500.00 x 5 = 7,500.00 not to mention the other thousand of people that is going trough the same problem. Nissan should be sued to fix this problem, or refund the deductibles for their manufacturing defects that was design for theft. My headache is not going away until i get rid of the car or sue nissan to solve this problem all nissan maximas 202-2003 owners should sue nissan and maybe they will do something or all come together and file a class auction suit against nissan please! please! please!!! do so asap. I actually went and bought infrared cameras to monitor my car so maybe i can catch who is stealing the lights, this is really bad thanks for listening. *la
I lease a 2002 nissan maxima. This car has a known issue regarding its headlights. The issue is 1) the headlights are very expensive 2) they are, therefore, well-liked by thieves and 3) they are very easy to steal.as a result, they are stolen frequently. One headlight assembly was stolen from my car last week. The car is not roadworthy without it. Blinkers don't work. If one has no choice but to drive to a body shop, if the hour is late, if one is in an unsafe neighborhood, the car must be driven in such condition. This is a design defect that should have caused nissan to recall this model long ago. *la

I have a 2002 nissan maxima.its head light has been stolen twice in the past 6 months, once in ridgefield park, nj and the other in west paterson, nj.both cases, they popped out the grill then popped head lights from side. Therumor i heard was that some dealer had 14 pairs of maxima's head lights stolen.i have been searching internet forum, listening to mechanics, and searching places to gather information regarding this matter and found out that these head lights can be stolen within few minutes.in fact, on second time, 2 maxima's in same parking lot had head lights stolen within matter of minutes as witness recalled.i have spoken to a nissan dealer and they said, "(they) provide anti-theft device for such but won't be affective since it's a different type of hood latch."and, i have to pay for it.i have another vehicle with hid.to take hid head lights out of this vehicle, mechanic has to remove bumper, few steel beams, and lots of screws including hidden ones.it would take more than an hour.2002 & 2003 nissan maxima's head lights are too easy to steal which costs consumers time and money to replace.for example, it took more than 3 weeks to repair since parts are out of stock due to increasing number of stolen head lights and it cost insurance company over $2,500 plus rental car which totals more than $3,500.i will be glad to see nissan designs a anti-theft device that would make stealing head lights much harder and distribute it at their expense.

I had the datadot anti-theft device that nissan came out with installed to prevent the headlights assembly theft problem. And guess what, they still stole the right side. The good thing is that the transformer was bolted to the frame of the car and was not stolen, the bad things is they caused more damage to the finder/hood and front bumper not only that, but a portion of the headlight assembly stayed in the car the damage was $2400.00 for one head light with body work. You cant use your turn signals if a headlight is missing very very unsafe and nissan should be held responsible for this design.*la
Head lights easily stolen on nissan maxima 2002, 2003i have a 2002 maxima se and the other day my head lights were stolen while the car was parked outside my mother in law's house.i found out this has been an on going problem with this vehicle and nissan isn't telling anyone about this problem when purchasing this vehicle tha the way the lights are connected they are easily stolen and will be an on going problem as long as you own this vehicle.nissan will retro fit new lights at the owner's expense about $300.00, why should the owner have to pay for something that nissan has created by connecting the head lights in this manner??
Headlights were stolen 3 times whilevehicle was parked, per consumer.
Theft of 2002 nissan maxima xenon headlights and grill causing over $3500 of damage.i believe that faulty nissan design has lead to widespread theft of these lights. According to local police, headlights can be stolen in one minute or less. Nissan has turned a deaf ear to complaints other than "theft deterrent kit" which will not prevent would-be thief from damaging vehicle in attempt to steal lights. I believe nissan has responsibility to correct this awful situation. *nlm

Car starts but dies down after a few miles
Headlights were stolen from the vehicle.damage was done to the electrical system/hood and bumper. The brackets holding each $724 light were made of plastic and could easily be snapped or broken.
Takata recall!!! my passenger air bag seat light is flashing. Also i bought the top crankshaft position sensor and it had a recall, is my vehicle covered? my control arm needs to be changed can you please advise me on the next decisioni should make.. I'm taking it to gerald nissan in north aurora for the second time for the airbag.
This max had the transverse link recall performed in 9/02. At this time, the left axle was not properly placed back in the transmission. We took the car back several times and they kept blowing us off. Finally, my wife was driving the car in the mobile tunnel and the trans went out along with the steering and suspension. Nissan repaired the vehicle but it still drives like a piece of junk. These guys are ridiculous and need to be dealt with seriously. I have since filed suit but would appreciate any help.
Purchased 2002 nissan maxima with under 30k miles 11/09. At 35k miles had transmission serviced. Now the transmission is completely shot at 38k miles. Nissan is refusing to admit a defect or a fault when there are over 100k complaints online to various websites and their customer service is pathetic and offensive. The vehicle has lost 3rd and 4th gear and is losing 2nd slowly but sureley. The transmission needs to be replaced yet nissan is denying the claim because of the year it is. A quick search of google tells me that 2002-2006 nissan maximas have horrible transmission issues. This should be escalated to a recall due to the dangers of having the transmission drop out or having it catch fire which will happen if i continue to drive my car the way it is. I cannot afford a $2500 transmission with the economy the way it is. Something needs to be done to make this right.
When vehicle was parked on an incline it rolled backwards a couple inches before consumer was able to press the accelerator.
I have a2004 nissan maxima se. I bought my car used with 98,000 miles on it. For the first year it was great but then it just started going down hill. When i would slow down a little bit to about 10 mph and then press on the gas the car would buck. When i would go in reverse and stop and put it in drive the would not go into gear for about 5 seconds and when it would finally go into gear it would make the car buck. Then things just kept getting worse and worse. The car would buck in every up-shift and every down shift. Finally the other day i was driving and it wouldn't even hit 3rd gear the engine would just rev up and then bang into gear. Now the other day it wont even go into 3rd gear it will just rev until i manually put it into 3rd. The reason i am putting this complaint in is because i have been looking for a new transmission ononline forums and basically everyone with the same car is having the same exact problems!! please make something happen with this. It has to be a factory defect.
On feb 2, 2002 my maxima was parked on my driveway (on a slight hill)my husband's truck was parked behind it.i was atempting to move my car forward.i put the car in drive and pressed the gas pedal. Car jerked backwards damaging both vehicles.i immediately looked down at the gear shift and it was in the drive position.i had my car towed back to the dealership where they found nothing wrong with my car.currently i am trying to work with corporate nissian to resolve this situation.
Every time the car is wash abs slip and traction malfunctions. These lights also are displayed in the console.. This has occurred on several times. I took the car to the dealer and on more than four occasios, and problem still not resolve. The steering wheel and colum makes noise but dealer stattes they cannot duplicate. When ever i drive over bumps it is very pronunced.
Car has a pronounced hesitation upon acceleration.car has an on/off throttle bucking.this problem is constantly present.
Vehicle is 5 years old ,2 weeks out of warranty), extremely well maintained with 43,000 miles.began hearing a grinding sound coming from the manual transmission.nissan dealer and a second source identified the problem as the bearings in the transmission.everyone i try to get an estimate for repairsweresuprised that the bearings would go out with such low milage, especially since the transmission hadpreventive maintainance done by the dealer at 39,000 miles.
Car starts but dies down after a few miles
I have a 2002 nissan maxima se that i purchased new from a nissan dealership.the vehicle is very well taken care of and has always been serviced by nissan.last week i was involved in an accident involving both the front and rear end.i was stopped behind a ford minivan in traffic on us 78 in bremen, georgia.while stopped i was struck in the rear by a ford taurus traveling approximately 40 miles per hour.that estimate is based on statements by the driver who also said he never saw me and did not apply the brakes.there were no skids present which substantiated his claim.the front of his vehicle collapsed the trunk of my vehicle and sent me into the minivan in front of me.my vehicle had substantial damage to the front and rear(i have pictures) and it was totaled.the airbag on the passenger side deployed protecting the passenger, however, the driver side airbag did not deploy.also, the seatbelt did not catch and my face struck the steering wheel causing immediate bruising and swelling.i was taken to the er for x-rays which were negative thankfully, however, i've had severe headaches for the last week and i was told by my doctor that i will have to undergo a ct scan tomorrow.my complaint is regarding the failure of both the airbag and the seatbelt leading to my injuries.this complaint does not involve a lawsuit of any kind and i have no plans for any such action, however, there are many of these cars on the road and someone could be severely injured or killed should their safety systems fail.the vehicle is currently at the tow yard should you need to see it.
The contact reported a 2002 nissan altima. The driver was traveling at an unknown speed and became distracted, veering off the roadway. The driver maneuvered the steering wheel in various directions in an effort to regain control of the vehicle. The vehicle rolled over approximately eight times. The driver was not injured however, a passenger was killed. The vehicle was inspected by state police who advised that at the time of the crash, the passenger's seat was reclined, causing the seat belt to fail to restrain the passenger effectively. The contact stated that after seven years of research she discovered that most passenger seats were unsafe when they were reclined. The contact wanted a warning to be placed on the visor of the vehicle alerting passengers to the danger, as well as possibly a mechanism that would not allow the seat to be adjusted once the vehicle was in motion. The failure mileage was not available. The vin was not available.updated 2/1/2013
Electric seat will not move forward it goes up and down reclines and goes up.but i cannot get it to move forward. Since i never change my driving position and have no need to move it. It should still work. My car is in prime condition everything on the car is in working and excellent condition. Dealer said i have to get a new "seat and track; i don't understand why then never removed the two bolts and looked to see if the wire may have come off the unit? 2000.00 dollars to repair sound like a rip off. Your thoughts. Bg

Driver's seat failed on impact with another vehicle. Seat went into full recline position which caused the driver to be thrown out of his seatbelt and through the back windshield.
Driver seat will not move forward or backwards.
Driver's power seat will not move forward or backward.this first occurred with an odometer reading of 31,242.this is a danger for all drivers who do not have long legs.nissan has been aware of this problem in 2000-2003 nissan maximas, and have issued service bulletin # ntb02-001c.unfortunately, nissan has not informed nhtsa and there in no recall on record for this problem.i hope this information will prompt nhtsa to investigate this problem.thank you for your help.
The driver's seat in my 2002 nissan maxima gle does not move forward making it difficult reaching the petal.also, the seat can drop to the ground making visibility poor where you may not be able to see what is in front of you.this problem just occurred about 7 months ago out of the blue.i am the only person who drives this care and rely on the car for transportation to work daily.it is apparent that this matter is a threat to the safety of the driver of the car and nissan should recall and fix the problem.toyota stepped up to the plate at least they care about their customer's safety.this is a very serious safety problem and i hope nissan looks into this immediately.thanking you for your time and hope this will help everyone that owns a maxima by nissan issuing a recall on their front seat safety mechanisms that are defective.i've never owned a car where this was an issue before and would not want someone to get injured b/c this problem could have been corrected by nissan.
Driver front seat will not move forward and back.nissan agencies says the motor drive component #87562c9926 is not covered under service agreement, plan type: nissan preferred - roadside - gold preferred.
[xxx]power steering system tiresfuel pump air bagsbattery everything has been falling apart since 2018, it's been fixed and couple months later, the same problem comes up. Every mechanic that touches this car, said the same thing to check up the recall status. Because there are too many issues with it, and the mileage is low. So there is a faulty parts, that keep braking down in the middle of the road, and i have been calling roadside assistance at least 4 times since december. Brand new tires and brakes were installed and still having the same problems.information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).
The contact owns a 2002 nissan maxima. The contact stated that while driving 25 mph, when the brake was engaged the vehicle accelerated. The contact had to aggressively depress the brake pedal in order to stop the vehicle. The vehicle was not taken to a dealer or independent mechanic and no diagnostic test was performed. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified about the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 95,000.
I purchased a new 2002 nissan maxima in may 2002.i began to see an abs light when driving in jan 2003 when i had 9,800 miles on the car.brakes began to catch and then failed completely before i could get home or to the dealership.no accident, due completely to luck.car was towed to dealer.dealer replaced the master cylinder.got car back and in less than 2 weeks abs light again on while driving.this time no catching of anti-lock brakes.returned to dealer for repair.another part replacement.less than 1 week later the abs light on again during driving.dealer is now not calling me, i have to call.has had car for 3 business days.say they have fixed the car and are keeping it so they can test drive it.they have replaced the sensor.does this mean the abs light will not come on when there is a problem?

My 2002 nissan maxima se had a total brake system failure.i was not able to stop the car using the brakes.i had to throw the gears into park and shut the engine off to get the vehicle to slow down.i stopped on a sidewalk almost hitting two pedestrians.i had to have major repairs done to the brake system. The actuators, front and rear sensors were replaced.my car only had 15,840 miles.this could be a potentially hazardous problem.
The consumer stated a car pulled in front of her, she had to slam on the brakes, when she did there was a grindingnoise. The wheel was damaged around the rim.the same incident happened again, the wheels made such an impact into the cement, the wheels appeared to have the same damage.
When brakes are applied vehicle accelerates instead of slowing down.dealer has been unable to duplicate problem.
Unable to stop vehicle - brake failure on dry pavement.when brake pedal was applied, there was only a clicking sound as if the abs was trying to engage for no reason - but brakes would not engage at all.dealer later reported that this was due to a faulty abs sensor on left rear but i am disturbed that this abs failure would cause total brake loss.i am afraid to drive this car for fear of another abs sensor going without any notice.i have had several other brake problems with this vehicle since i purchased new in 2002.the rotors have had to be replaced 4 times on vehicle with less than 55k miles (mainly highway miles).dealer admitted that there is a problem with rotors warping on this car for no apparent reason.in addition,i had the back brake calipers seize up on me for no apparent reason while driving on turnpike.
2002 nissan maxima had abs module failure.consumer states that the brakes failed without warning. *njthe consumer stated the problem began with a very loud ear piercing screeching noise when the brakes were applied. The sound was intermittent, so it was difficult for the dealer to duplicate. The consumer went to the dealer several times to have the brakes checked, but they were found to be ok. The consumer stated on one occasion, her husband applied the brakes and the vehicle did not stop, the abs came on as he approached the intersection. The dealer informed the consumer the abs actuator and the rear abs sensor had failed. The screechingnoise was due to a bad wheel bearing.
Abs light came on when i was driving to town.brakes seemed to work ok, so i continued.got to town (40 miles), did my business, got in the car to go home. Started car, abs light still on, drove 1 1/2 blocks, applied brakes as i approached intersection, and the pedal locked.tapped the pedal, still locked.car felt like it was still getting throttle.put it in neutral, pulled the emergency brake, and luckily stopped before the intersection.pulled into a parking lot, pushed the brake, and the same thing happened.parked the car, and turned it off.then, i decided to move it to another location in the parking lot and leave it for a tow truck.when moving it, i pushed the brake again, heard a noise, abs light went off, and brakes worked again.drove home.i am going to take it to the shop soon. Could have been a serious accident.
The contact owns a 2002 nissan maxima.the contact stated that the abs sensor activates on its own sporadically.the dealer speculated that dirt or mud enters through the wheel speed sensor and causes the failure.the dealer cleaned the component, but the failure recurred shortly after the remedy.the contact went back to the dealer and they repaired the vehicle.the failure mileage was 19,000. Updated 07/08/09updated 07/08/09.
When i first bought the vehicle, the abs light was on, i was assured by they sales person that it was a "minor sensor problem" in that regards i took the vehicle. When i came back to have the light checked i learned that it was something more serious since there was no "computer code" and according to the computer the car had nothing wrong with it. Manufacturer replaced abs control unit and say car was ok. After a few days the car's front wheels starting to lock at low speeds, about 25 to 30 mph. When approaching a stop sign and applying the brakes a screech will come from the wheels, some times it will be coming from the left some times from the right side of the car. Locking of wheels was only once to three times a day. Contacted nissan consumer affairs and they said to bring the car back. After a cople of days of contacting nissan the abs light came on again.once at the dealer, nissan determined that there was no output ground to light and that no code was coming on.this happened and 1588 miles.at 2054 miles car was taken again for abs light on, once again there was no code coming from computer, in other words computer was saying nothing was wrong with car. Nissan replaced engine harness on vehicle. About 2 weeks later, after that repair, front wheels started to lock just as last time.. It will only lock for one time or two a day,, but same problem, this time abs light is not on, nissan was contacted and say nohting is wrong with car since the light is not on. On 08-14-2002 when driving vehicle out of a parking lot, speeds of about 15mph, pressed gas pedal, car is not responding ( there seems to be no traction on wheels for about 10 senconds) then "slip" light starts flashing for about 3 seconds, after this vehicle starts getting traction again and light stops flashing. Will meet with nissan representative on 8-15-2002.
In late november 2002 while driving the abs brake failed which resulted in an accident.when the brakes were applied the vehicle slowed down but never stopped. Prior to the accident in feb 2002, the abs sensor went out.and repairs were made to the abs system in aug 2002.
Dt:the contact stated the abs had failed multiple times.during the first occurrence the brakes did not function.upon inspection the dealership determined the right abs sensor had to be replaced.the right sensor was replaced.the second failure occurred after the vehicle had been through the carwash. The brakes required more pressure to function properly.the sensor light stayed on for a couple of days.the problem went away by itself.in october 2005 there was a vibration in the steering wheel.after the dealership inspected the vehicle they replaced the brake rotors.when the problem returned the abs light had come on and went off two days later.the brakes worked when the light came on and failed when the light went off.upon inspection the dealership determined the left abs sensor had to be replaced.the repairs had not been made.
Can provide details-issue at hand is that nissan has been contacted and cannot confirm cause of failure and now i do not feel safe in the car and requested technical confirmation of the safety in writing or a new car-they have not adequately responsed to me.please contact for details...sincerely,julie horning. No safety defect listed.
Abs light illuminated on the dash. Subsequent total loss of braknig which nearly caused a crash between my vehicle and another.only by acceleratng very hard through a stop sign, at which i was unable to stop, was i able to avoid an oncoming vehicle.according to my owners manual, whenever the abs warnign light illuminate, i will lose only my abs but will retain normal breaking.this proved not to be the case.i lost the ablity to stop.according to the manufacturer's dealership repair facility, the loss of abs was a result of a non-functioning rear wheel speed sensor.the vehicle is currently being repaired by this repair facility.i will request that the failed part be kept and given to me.
After washing my automobile, the anti lock braking (abs) warning light illuminated indicating that i no longer have abs.the consequence isreduced braking performance in emergency situations.in an emergency such a failure would eliminate my ability to perform avoidance maneuvers while braking which is the purpose of the abs system.under normal driving conditions it would significantly increase stopping distances.the manufacturer's authorized dealer representative stated that the left rear speed sensor failed and that the cost of replacement would be at my expense.the car has 64,500 miles. According to the dealership representative such drive components are warranted for the first 60,000 miles only.this system should be impervious to the effects of a garden hose rinse.the only alternative is to replace the speed sensor and hope that such a failure does not occur while i am driving.

For unknown reason, the vehicle swerved towards the right side and the vehicle jumped the curb due to the uncontrollable steering. The tires become deflated causing damage to the rims of the front and back tires on the right side of the vehicle.
While making a left turn on the highway helost control of the vehicle.due to the steering going out.please provide information dealer is aware of the problem. Ts

After the car has been driven awhile and warmed up, 30 mins or so. The steering wheel starts to jerk and the car pulls to the left. When this happens the car drives like it's on a flat tire, a kluck kluck kluck sound is coming from the front end, but the tires are not flat. I even replaced the old tires with new ones. The steering becomes very erratic. Ive taken it twice to a nissan dealer and a sears auto center, and was told everything was tight in the front end. No one seems to know what the problem is, because they can't get the car to recreate this condition. What would be the likely cause that would make this happen?
The contact owns a 2002 nissan maxima.the contact stated that the suspension was making a knocking sound along with a loud noise coming from the steering wheel.the noises are heard each time the steering wheel is turned to the left or right and when driving uphill.the contact also experiences difficulty controlling the steering wheel.the dealer stated that there were no recalls for his vehicle; however, they advised him to call the manufacturer to check if the vin is included in nhtsa campaign id number 02v146000 (suspension:front:control arm:lower arm).the failure mileage was 115,000.
Heated steering wheel sometimes reaches 119 degrees, way too hot.nissan specs say 95 is max temp.i've measured it up to 119 degrees.nissan has replaced the steering wheel, but didn't change anything.nissan and the dealer say it meets nissan specs, but they have never meassure it, and refuse to measure it, saying it meets specs ????at 119 degrees i find it uncomfortably hot, and some people couldn't grasp it, which could lead to an accident.dealer says another car on their lot gets real hot too, but again they refuse to measure it to either prove it in or out of specs.they are avoiding the safety issue, 119 is way too hot for a steering wheel.
Window washer does not work on driver side in very cold wheater while operating on roadways.
Excessive paint chips from hood and front bumperknocking/pinging during hard accelerating or under load.
The hood and front bumper's paint chips too easily.have complained to dealership many many times who states that is normal for this vehicle and they cannoit assist me and i should of known before purchasing.contacted nissan consumar affairs and never heard back from them at all!this will hurt my resale value and looks terrible, needs to be reconciled
Paint quality is horrible.car has thousands of small paint chips concentrated on the front bumper and front of hood.this is not normal as nissan insists.their paint jobs are inferior and unfair to the consumer.
While parking car it spontaneously accelerated across the parking lot, the bordering street and into another parking lot before stopping.the cars left side, right side, front bumper, tires and suspension were damaged.though no other cars were hit, commercial garbage cans, stop sign, telephone pole and a series 4 curbs inflicted damage.the air bags did not deploy despite having them checked by the dealer as required by a recall.
2k2 hid theft. Front lights. Hood, grill, electrical, fender and bumper damage.
I have 2 nissan maxima's, both 2002 models. Both of these cars have faulty hinges on the drivers door causing the doors to sag and not operate properly. I do not think it is just a coincidence that this has happened on both vehicles and wonder how many other of these cars has the same problem.
Paint chips on hood;complained to nissan; inspectors conclusion unsatisfactory and disputed by outside professional!

I have had my new 2002 nissan maxima se for about 45 days now and it has less then 16,000 miles on it.after some rain storms i had noticed that the trunk was leaking a lot and there was a lot of water gathered in the spare tire compartment and the mat and carpet were starting to smell.i took it into academy nissan and they gave me a big story why it might not be covered... In the end it was covered but it took 4 days to get my car back and all they did was bend the trunk , now it hits the bumper when it closes and is not parallel to the ground making it look uncentered.i am not happy with their workmanship or their customer service and i plan on dealing with higher management until the problem is solved.*nlm
On 6/30/04, took my vehicle in to my local dealer for a noise coming from the front end of the car.it sounded like the strut was broken or bottoming out.dealer also thought it was a strut, and after putting two strut assemblies on the car, the problem was not resolved. Since then, this dealer and another dealer have replaced lower control arm, rack and pinion, cradle, and numerous bolts trying to fix the problem.nissan dealer technical services and a nissan engineer have inspected the vehicle.nissan engineer has pinpointed the noise to the frame of the car.i have been told that there are supports or braces within the frame that may have broken. This vehicle has never been in an accident, so any problem within the frame are a result of defect caused during the manufacturing of the frame.

Front wheel nut that secures wheel hub to cv-joint came loose in my 2002 maxima. Nut was backed up to the cotter pin. Also, thishappened last year on my wife's 2000 maxima. I think nissan made a bad design decision when they chose not to use a locking washer/nut for this design. I have a jpeg picture of resultant wheel wobble.
Two of these tires on the driver side of the car, leaked out the air, they had less than 5,000 miles on them.

He stated that he received the letter stating his vehicle had a recall.the manufacturer sent the consumer an apology letter, stating the notice was sent to him in error.
The vehicle accelerated very high without touching gas pedal over powered the abs braking system as i was approaching a main road could not stop at stop sign and kept going my front end of car was hit another vehicle going sb 45 mph. Very lucky to be alive. Having tech checkout the vehicle.

The contact owns a 2002 nissan maxima.while making a rightturn at 40 mph, the vehicle failed to accelerate when the accelerator pedal was depressed.the speed decreased dramatically and the rpm's 1500.soon afterwards, the check engine light illuminated.after at the dealer, the accelerator pedal sensor code appeared.the accelerator pedal sensor was replaced.the contact referenced nhtsa campaign id number 02v043000 (vehicle speed control).the current and failure mileages were 43,000. On may 22, 2006 while proceeding to park, my the accelerator would not shut off and the car continued forward until it came in contact with a telephone pole.while researching on the internet for the 2002 nissan maxima's accelerator problems i discovered a recall for the pedal stop sensor.although my vin number was not included in the recall i experienced the same problem and experienced a similar problem earlier.at that time i had the necessary repairs made.i feel that other models with different vin numbers should be included in the recall as this is a very dangerous situation.
While driving on the freeway doing 75 mph in san francisco, i stepped on the gas pretty hard and let off a second or two later. Right after that the car went into limp mode and would not accelerate at all. I had to go across 3 lanes with no acceleration. Very scary. Pulled over and tried to rev the engine to no avail. I then turned the car off and then started it again and it seemed to act normal. The check engine light flashed for a awhile then went to solid. About two hours later i went to pass another vehicle and it did it again. I pulled over and turned it the vehicle off again. This seems to be a pattern with this car when i push on the peddle to accelerate. Since january of 2012 it has happened a total of 7 times. I brought it to a shop where i was told that there was a voluntary recall campaign for this problem on 2002 nissan maximas. I went to the nissan dealership and was told that my car was not in this recall. My concern is why is it not in this recall when it is clearly displaying what the "other" 2002 nissan maximas are doing?? this vehicle is unsafe for freeways and other fast moving areas. Could someone please help me and let me know what channels i need to go through to get this looked at? i have called the northern region nissan dealer and they were very rude and told me that it was confidential and wouldn't tell me anything. This is my car that drives my family around, i have every right to know what is going on. Has any other complaints come in about this happening to their 2002 model that was not in this recall? i bought this car in january of 2003 with 22,000 miles on her and she now has 134,000. Please help me.

I was very fortunate that there was adequate distance betweenmyself and the car in front of me.i took the car to a nissan dealer the same morning and no trouble codes or stored data was found in the computer. Nissanheadquarters told me a factory rep will come to diagnose my problem only if the car is involved in an accident.

There is an air leak in the rear driver side window.i am worried this is going to consistently get worse and have my window shatter at some point.after reading another complaint of the same problem i felt compelled to file one of my own.i reported this to my dealer and they have not looked into the problem.while in for service, another customer was compalining of the same problem.every person that sits in the back seat notices a very distinct air leak in this window.
After buying car i noticed an air leak sound coming from the back drivers side window.before i could bring it back to the dealership the back window completely shattered while driving home one night.the entire back seat was covered in glass.luckily no one was in the back seat.serious injury would have occurred.no evidence of an object breaking the window.definitely a defect with the window.*nlm
Front passenger window will not remain close.the front window has an automatic up feature that allows you to put the window up with one click of the button.when activated the window goes up closes and then it comes back down 4 inches.car has 24,000 miles and under warranty but nissan will not cover adjustment of window or replacement of malfunctioning part stating it is a service item.
Right-rear quarter window has a severe problem with wind noise. This is very frustrating and has been reported to nissan's dealership several times. Nothing has been done to rectify the problem adequately. One dealership told me it was a known problem and nothing can be done. Nonsense. Please help. Thank you!*la
Left hand door mirror vibrates excessively while driving at highway speeds. Creates safety hazard, especially at high speeds and at night or in bad weather.
On two occasions (so far) while driving with the sunroof closed, the sunroof has opened by itself.both times the back of the sunroof opened, instead of the entire panel sliding open.the sunroof switch did work to close it.i have not yet taken the car to the dealership for this defect nor have i contacted nissan.
Sunroof opens on it's own and allows rain and wind into car. Jim sigel automotive requested a replacement switch from nissan. Nissan would not send new one and would not discuss situation with jim sigel texhnician! i e-mailednissan twice, askingthem to resolve my problem. To date they have not responded to my request. My e-mail was sent to [email protected]. Jim sigel texh. Took another switch out of another maxima on the lot and replaced the switch in my car. It appears the switches are both defective. The only recourse i have at this time is to disconnect the moonroof operating gear! this is clearly a satedty situation, due to the integritoy of the roof and the tremendous (unexpected) rushing of wind when the unit opens on it's own. Nissan tech. Would not discuss anything with jim sigel tech, other than there may be a problem in more 2002 maximas with moonroof than mine. Please contact nissan and resolve this issue asap. Thanks.
The contact owns a 2002 nissan maxima. While driving approximately 25-35 mph, the automatic sunroof independently opened. The vehicle was pulled over to the side of the road, and the sunroof was closed. The failure occurred sporadically. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer where the sunroof switch was replaced. The failure mileage was approximately 90,000.
I own a 2002 maxima. Recently we had a cold snap and the line from the windshield washer ro my wipers froze up.the washer had the correct washer fluid-rated down to -25 degrees and the outside temperature was about 11 degrees. My dealership regularly maintains my vehicles fluids.i called the sullivan bros. Nissan dealership in kingston mass. And they said they had many reports of the same problem from otherr nissan owners with maximas near or at the same age as mine. The dealer suggested running the car for 20 minutes or so to solve the problem. I had already warmed up the car before driving it, but followed the dealer's direction. In fact ,i ran the car for 45 minutes more sincer the line was still frozen after 20 minutes.driving to work under these conditions was near impossible and extremly dangerous. I could barely see in front of me and had to drive in an unsafe condtion and stop as frequently in many unssafe locations to try and clean off my windshield.i and anyybody driving a maxima or any other veehicle with this problem is putting themselves and othes in inninent danger.the source of the problem seem to be that the washer line is directly attachedto the fender as it runs up to the front of the car.it is exposed, unnessasarilly, to wheather temperature variances and it is so far awlay from the engine that any heat that might help is prevented frm helping by distance.my feeling is that if the line were closer to the engine or off the metal of the fender ,or even insulted , it could prevent this dangeros problem. Any argument that these were exteme conditions that would effect any car is unfounded. Neigbors and relatives easily drove their vehicles without this problem and they were in the same weather conditions.i hope that nissan has a recall on their maxima's with the same design flaw. I hope thet i have written to the organization that can help me and perhaps thousands of other quickyresolve this unsafe condition.
