I want to know why nissan has not recalled the 1995 maxima due the springs defect, gear shift malfunction, starter problem and the list goes on. I have 2 1995 maxima's and they both have the same problems. Having done quite a bit of research looking for customer complaints, it looks as though everyone else with a 95 maxima has the same defects. The spring problem with the suspension definitely should have been recalled as was the spring problem with the sentra.i have documented every complain that i could find and if my daughter or myself has an accident in these nissan's, someone in my family will be rich! i do not have $1600 to replace them. I have already spent $1000,s of dollar replacing starter, brakes, rotors, knock sensors, batteries amongst other things and i've only had the cars since march of this year. Neither cd player works, inside dome light does not work.

Starting system failed on multiple occasions.eventually had to replace the starter.
The problem is with starting the car the first time replaced starter and fuel injection.
It started with 2 to 3 tries to start the car.we were keeping up with the routine maintenance but the problem progressed to taking as much as 4 to 5 tries to start the engine, it would crank but not kick.we took it to the dealer 4 times. They said the starter worn out due to repetitive attempts to start the vehicle. Just recently, we had a new started put in for approximately $400.000 for using a car for 3 years. Now the car still gives problems in starting though much less, for example 1 out10.it also hesitates while driving steady high speed (55-65 mph) on the highway.

1995 maxima has a major electrical problem, the car had a fire erupting inside the steering wheel column caused by a short circuit in the steering wheel column. The manufacturer said its nothing unusual. In other words, its very normal for an 8 year old car to catch fire while driving on the freeway. Yes, believe it or nor. Nissan north america did not stand behind their products. Dont be fooled by the nice looks of that car. I had to change the o2, knock sensor every two years.

I took delivery of this auto 11/17/94.on 10/11/95, a rear oxygen sensor was replaced at 5510 miles, under warranty.sometime after that, in 1996, i received an undated bulletin from nissan, acknowledging a problem with their emission control system and extending a "limited warranty" to 5 years or 60,000 miles.on 7/11/00, a front o2 oxygen sensor was replaced under warranty at 43,121 miles.on 2/6/2001, a third o2 oxygen sensor was replaced at 45,408 miles, with a cost to me of $636.17.this indicates to me that they problem is more serious than replacing o2 oxygen sensors, and if in fact it is the o2 oxygen sensors - they all should have been replaced before their "limited warranty extension" expired.i believe i have a legitimate complaint and that nissan has an obligation to honor it by reimbursing me and replacing the 4th o2 oxygen sensor in the emission control system, and any other parts related to this problem.

Oxygen sensor failed.
We purchased a new 1995 nissan maxima in july 1995.by april 1996, the still-new car had to be repaired with a new o2 sensor, but under the warranty.then by october 2000, another new o2 sensor had to be installed, and was paid out of our own pocket.however, by february 2002, the dealership diagnosed the car with yet another o2 sensor failure.at that time we refused the service because we had lost confidence on the repair due to past poor quality history and high repair cost estimation (~$250).the dealership now routinely warns us to repair the sensor, but refused to recognize the sensor quality and/or vehicle engine operation that, in my opinion, was the cause of the repeated repairs.

Wejust purchased our daughter her first car,a very nice looking 1995 nissan maxima. It only had one small rust spot one the rear fender, and it seemed to run great,so we bought it home.two days later we noticed a thumping noise under the hood. Upon investigation, found that the lower radiator support has totally rotted away in the middle ,where the front motor mount bolts on. This caused the motor to tilt forward about three inches. It wont be long till the motor falls out on the ground... When i called local dealer they said this is a common problem. What a piece of junk, now the car is unsafe to drive.i am the second owner and this car was meticulously maintained by the first owner and has never been in an accident.if other owners do not catch this defect in time someone could get hurt.. Will be calling nissan to se what they will do.
Lower radiator support, which connects to front motor mount, rots through. This causes front motor mount to drop down. Support is integral to chassis structure and alignment. Support had to be replaced. Common issue on 1995-1999 body style.
The lower radiator support, an integral part of the frame needed for alignment and to hold up the front motor mounts rusted through.this seems to be a common complaint on nissan forums.

Hood shocks cannot keep hood open.first time it occurred, the hood came down on my head and hit me pretty hard.my wife had to come lift it and tend to my dizziness.driver seat adjusters don't work anymore, my wife tried to get into the car after i have been driving it and couldn't reach the pedals.contacted nissan and said it is out of warranty, the local dealer indicated that nissan used cheap parts (plastic cogs) and after a while they strip.
The problem lies with the hydraullic rods that hold up the hood for any kind of maintenance.i was told by a dealer these often fail under cold conditions, but when weather warms, the rods will work again.this failure is totally unexpected.the rods show no leak and appear to be without problems.as i raised the hood on my maxima, never having experienced this problem before, i reached in to begin my interior inspection when the hood dropped striking my head, but allowing me to remove my hands before the hood slammed down.if it had not struck my head and forced me back, i would have broken or severed several fingers.this is a safety issue.the nissan company has opened a file on my complaint.the file number is 2766755.the car is only 31/2 years old.i have never experienced this type of failure in my others cars.nissan agreed to compensate for 1/2 of the replacement cost, but i believe this is a material defect that has safety implications so that it why i am reporting this.

The hood support struts (gas filled hood lifts) fail during cold weather.they do not reliably hold up the hood when they are cold (e.g., car idle overnight).when warmed (e.g., by engine heat), they usually work again.now that the weather is warmer, they work, but not as well as when the car was new.they obviously are on their way to eventual total failure.both the dealer and nissan hq have been informed of the problem by fax letter.nissan hq has assigned file #2816812 to the problem.nissan does not recognize the problem as a safety related defect.further, a nissan representative indicates that hood support struts can fail at any time.i believe the problem is a safety related defect; their failure could let the hood drop on someone's head without warning.in my opinion, hood support struts should be all-weather, safety related parts that are warranted for the life of the car (something akin to seat belts).nissan has offered to replace the hood support struts for about $100.i believe nissan should replace them free of charge.

We purchased a 1995 nissan maxima gle in 1997 from peruzzi nissan in fairless hills, pa.for an amount equal to about eight (8) percent of the final sale price, we also purchased an 84-month or 100,000 mile nissan security+plus vehical protection plan.at around 48 months and with less than 80,000 miles on the odometer, we were informed the plan had expired.it turns out that nissan's plan starts on the date the vehicle first left the showroom, a.k.a. The original in-service date (which in our case was june, 1994), not the date on which a consumer buys the same car as used.the wording of the contracts is misleading at best and at least one of the marketing brochures nissan dealers use to sell these very profitable plans says that coverage starts on the date you purchased your car.in effect, over one third of the coverage we paid for was shaved off from the very moment we purchased the plan.we subsequently incurred several thousand dollars in repairs that we are now in court attempting to recover, having won a first round and judgment of $3,300.consumers should be forewarned about these plans, which we maintain are a sham and, in at least some states (including pennsylvania) constitute fraud.we are looking to hear from other consumers that purchased this particular plan since 1997, from peruzzi nissan as well as other dealers.

The oxygen sensor has failed several times, the earliest time the vehicle having only 28299 miles.vehicle has experienced and exhaust leak.the transmission will not shift out of park.the vehicle would not start due to a blank spot on the starter.the vehicle experienced several electrical problems, the dome light would not work due to a power wire rivet that was loose and loosing contact.the dome light, the door lights, and the map light malfunctioned when the consumer tried to replace the bulb for the map light.the factory installed alarm would go off unless the keyless entry was used, the dash indicator lights for the trunk open and door ajar for the passenger side also would not work.the hydraulic hood supports failed, in order to check the engine or make any repairs the hood has to be propped open.recently the consumer heard a clicking noise in the front end, the dealer stated that the cv boot was torn and that the clicking noise meant the axle was damaged, however, later the dealer stated the problem was only the strut mount but didn't know which one was causing the problem, so both of them needed to be replaced.
There is a rubbing noise in the front end when the steering wheel is turned.the dealer stated that the noise is caused by the front springs rubbing against something else in the front end and the problem has occurred in some 1995 maximas.the dealer indicated that the problem is caused by a design defect in the springs and that the design of current replacement part (new springs now available from nissan) have corrected this problem.the cost of replacing the springs is $745, but nissan has declined to provide warranty coverage.the defective springs are causing a safety hazard.there is obviously friction and wear on the springs, which will eventually fail.the dealer advised that a similar problem occurred with nissan sentras and that nissan provided a recall of sentra springs.nissan, however, inexplicably refuses to recall maxima springs.

Complete dot: c2ur h4lr 487.first incident, rf and lr tires began to make noise.tire dealer discovered that the tread was about to separate.they advised that there was no recall or warning about this problem.however, they have noticed that this manufacture and model has more problems than some others.therefore, they have stopped selling these tires.they advised that the other two remaining republic tires may/or may not have the same problem.if so, they would replace them also.four months later in august, the other two tires began to make noise indicating potential separation.i was out-of-town on an interstate at the time.i had to travel approximately 15 more miles with a highway patrol following me to make sure no crash occurred.i made it to another tire dealership for replacements.they too showed me the bubbles in the treads of these two tires.again, the initial tire dealer stated that the manufacture knew about the problem but was paying for replacements instead of issuing a notice/warning/recall.i would like an explanation of what it takes to get a manufacture to notice/warn or recall of problems they learn about their products.i was pregnant when this happened.needless to say, this does not make me feel comfortable with my vehicle or tires.
Power window on drivers side door got stuck in door and burned out regulator and power window motor.approximate cost to fix is $400+ at an autobody shop, which informed me this is a very common problem with nissan maxima's 1991-1995, so common that nissan has problems keeping it in stock.the dealer said there are no recalls on this vehicle.i find this unacceptable and hard to believe that the dealer would not consider this a recall.i feel i, as the consumer, am paying for a known problem and nissan does not wish to disclose it.please investigate and advise.
