I talk to nissan service dept. And they said only the airbag was to be recalled.

While driving 35 mph or lessbrake failed.following the brake failure, frontal air bags deployed without any impact being sustained.

This was a front end collision that occured at a high rate of speed in which the drivers side air bag did not deploy.we contacted nissan they didn't seem interested and sent some literature to us.we have a statement from the auto shop it was towed to in which the ower stated the air bag should have went off.the car was totalled and this was our 3rd maxima.needless to say this will sadly be our last.i'm very disappointed that nissan didn't seem to care about the air bag not deploying.i hope to warn anymore maxima drivers out there.

While drivingundercarriage of vehicle hit the road anddriver's airbag deployed, causing a crash andinjuries.manufacturer said airbag was suppose to deploy in undercarriage impact.please provide further information.

Electrical problem causes power antenna to retract up/down.

My car was losing power. Car would not start and my radio hasn't worked for the last year. I have had to replace my alternator in my nissan maxima for the third time in approximately 6 years. When i purchased the last alternator on 11/02/05 from advance auto parts. I received a printout that there have been several factory service bulletins produced by nissan to correct charging system problems on maximas. I've called nissan and they have told me that there is no type of recall on this problem. The problems are poor connections: the battery wire may not be able to carry all the current from the alternator to the battery. The symptoms of this include alternator overheating, alternator failure, and electrical power loss. The other problem is poor charge at idle: some maximas do not charge well at idle, even though the alternator is functioning properly. I believe that nissan needs to put these vehicles on a recall notice.

Intermittent stalling.

While driving, engine hesitates, then cut off; no noise, no bucking, no warning; intermittent problem.tt

Vehicle stalls at any speed. At dealer at this time, power transistor and efi relay being replaced. Efi relay was replaced before, a couple of years ago.

Every window regulator in my nissan maxima has been replaced once and i have had one fail twice. Several of my friends have a maxima and we have all had the same problem.i was told by a parts person at the dealership that the number one selling part is spark plugs and the number two selling part is window regulators.i have spent almost $1000 on window regulators and i know that nissan knows there is a problem, but they will not do anything about it. I am hoping that you can help me get some of my money back and help others.my wife is the only driver of this car and the windows are not used much.

Fuel system:fuel injector failure. Fuel injectors have failed several times in the recent past. Was advised by nissan factory trained mechanic at nissan dealership that the problem is in the wiring harness and that nissan knows aboutthis particular problem and has issued a "secret" advisory to their service personnel about this possibly being a fire hazard, but have not seen any public information concerning this problem. This problem developed after i took the vehicle to the dealership for a stalling problem that was finally decided to be theecm module. The ecm module was replaced costing over $1000, but theproblem persisted. Nissan mechanic then replaced a wire in the wiring harness, and the problem went away for about 2 weeks, but returned. Have been advised by independent mechanics that the factory installed harness (ve30de engine)is too close to the rear exhaust manifold, causing wires to fail, and that nissan has a fix for the problem for free, but can't find any information. Can you help?

I need to know if my vehicle is y2k compliant.

When his wife parked vehicle she saw smoke coming out under hood, and vehicle caught on fire completly. Vehicle was totaled.fire department came to the scene, butthey didn't know where the fire started.dealer nor manufactrurer were contacted.

My vehicle contains most of the technical service bulletins and a couple of the recalls.my main concern/question is why won't nissan cover the expenses for the repair of the front end noise (one of the tsb's #ntb93189) which will lead to further damage of the vehicle??? no safety defect listed in the summary.

For the first problem electrical under the dash.i having a problem with the fuse box and fuse relating to the shift lock which also controls the break light.there is a major short in which sparks do flash and the metal part of the fuse is melted. I have be warned by officer that my lights where not working.this is due to the electrical problem under the dash.i have nearly been in 8 wrecks due to the problem. I do know upon reading that maximas haveproblem electrically under the dash and some other nissan that my friends have owned.pertaining to the second issue.it is not the luggage rack but the spoiler (it was the closest thing on the list to describe.)i have had a problem and upon oberservation of other maximas it is not just mine.i believe due to a design flaw a problem with the spoiler is this.on the outer egdes of the spoiler on mine and others where the spoiler is attached to the trunk lid water gets up under the egdes and causes rust and release of the outer edges of the spoiler and they com loose as did mine.all that is left is 4, 8mm nuts to hold the spoiler. Luckly mine held long enough keep mine on for me to stop.if not my spoiler could have come off and to the behind traffic cause a sever accident of the interstate.i have looked into replacing but the cost of the spoiler is 800.00. I have reattached but the spoiler is coming loose again.thank you

Consumerhad thevariable timing control assembly replaced at 43k miles.the vehicle is pressently at 99k, and the assembly has to be replaced again.owner notified the dealer and the manufacturer about the problem.

The vehicle is noisey while driving at low speeds and whiole at idle, consumer believes it has something to do with the vtc sprockets which were replaced at 67k because they had a tendency to be noisy.nlm

Vehicle stalls at any speed. At dealer at this time, power transistor and efi relay being replaced. Efi relay was replaced before, a couple of years ago.

Engine continues to experience sluggish, hesitation and performance problems, replacement of various components did not rectify engine performance problems.

Vehicle stalls / shift very hard and experiencing rough idling causing sudden acceleration at high speed which results in lost of power.

Replace oxygen sensor due to strong smell of rich exhaust, replace vtc sprockets three times due to excessive engine noise and fault parts.

During heavy traffic the consumers daughter sharply turned the steering wheel and lost control of the vehicle.another driver stopped to inform the consumers daughter that the axle appeared to have broken.the axle was replaced.a loud noise had developed, which was due to a defective manifold and muffler.the abs brakes developed a leak and malfunctioned, which kept the warning light on.the consumer also owns a nissan pathfinder, and found that any impact to the front end would make a dent, there is no support in the front bumper.*mr*scc*nlm

Oxygen sensor failed causing strong smell.

Fuel leak on top of engine under manifold may, could cause fire,

I do not recall the exact date last year that i complained to the local nissan dealer, and then wrote to nissan in california and had several telephone conversations with them. The exhaust manifold bolts are breaking on my car, causing a loud noise that the local dealer admits is a nissan problem that has been known about for a long time. Nissan in california as much as admitted there is an exhaust manifold bolt breakage problem, and offered to give me a $500 certificate toward the purchase of another nissan. I only had 40,000 miles on the car at the time, and now have only 60,000. I do not want to trade. I also do not want another nissan since their refusal to fix what they know is a problem exists. Yes, my car was out of the mileage and the years warranty, but a car that only has 40,000 miles should not experience this kind of problem. I have a 1962 ford falcon that has no problems and no recalls that i know of, and that has never caused me the first problem. I realize nissan is not going to do anything. But i think the government should force nissan to recall these cars on which they know they have had an exhaust problem for several years.

I took it too several shops and they wanted to charge me more than i can afford. So i don't fill it up anymore and pray each and every time i get in the car. The driver's side automatic seat belt did not retract after being hit five times from the rear. This has happened several times since, has not taken it to dealer to have it checked.does not know what caused the problem and has not had it taken care of it.

My front drivers side automatic seat belt only works sometimes. It is mostly stuck in the open position (it does not automatically slide to the rear, secure positionwhen the door is closed and engine is on). Occasionally, it will work as it is supposed to, but does not the majority of the time.

Fasten seat belt light indicator comes on intermittently along with fasten seat belt chime.

Brake system.. When the brakes were applied there was noise and a delayed reaction. The consumer statedthe vehicle has all new brakes pads, however the mechanic was unable to determine where the noise was coming from.

Service brakes make a pulsating soud when brake pedal is applied as if the abs system is not functioning. I had vehicle serviced by two different nissan dealership with no satisfaction. 1st dealership replaced front and rear brake pads.2nd dealership bled hydraulic system. Problem not corrected.

The fiberglass material under the hood caught on fire at high temperature engine operation. The material was old and frayed. And the engine compartment caught fire as a result. I notified nissan and they have been reluctant to help me. They offered to inspect the vehicle at a charge (by phone).when i went to the dealer, they said they didnt want to touch it and that i should take it somewhere else.i asked nissan if there was a known issue with the insulation, or recall info and they replied no. Transmission fails to shift into 1st gear. If vehicle at stop light or sign can not be shift into starting off. Would be sluggish. Also, rear windows would not go back up once let down. Has only happened while in first gear. Have not been to dealer.

Power window regulator has been replaced on all 4 windows and has just broken again.this will cause the window to fall and make it inoperable.plastic part on the window regulator breaks.

All four of the door windows shorted out due to a failed mechanism. This happened all within a 6 week period. Dealer fixed all windows. Problem has occurred again on passenger's rear windows.

Driving on the highway and the driver's side window fell down and will not come up.

Rear window regulators fail in window closed position.both rear windows have failed once in up position even though they got very little use.the rh rear failed in up position after about two dozen cycles over a few year period.the replacement cost is $225.00. And the dealer will not replace them under warranty due to milage, even though the rear seat is almost never occupied.i currently block the failed windows in open position since they fail so fast.it has been pointed out to me that this is a safety hazard in case the rear seat window was needed for egress.there is no aftermarket unit available and the oem part is plastic junk that only lasts a few cycles to failure.the dealer says this is not a hazard since the windows will probably not work in an accident since they are powered off the battery.my position is that the windows need to work as designed and a manufacturing design deficiency should not be cause for an occupant to be trapped in a the car.

In the past four weeks we have replaced three out of the four power window regulators on our 1993 nissan maxima.the power windows, especially in the rear, get very little use.it has cost over $500 in parts and labor to replace these parts.inoperable power window regulators cause a threat to the safety of the vehicle and its passengers.

Power window regulator is plastic which breaks, causing all four powers windows to become inoperable.please give any further details.

I have had to replace all 4 power window regulators in my maxima because of a little plastic piece that cracked.the part lasts just long enough to get beyond the warranty period.the little plastic piece is now metal reinforced in the replacement window regulators.

My vehicle contains most of the technical service bulletins and a couple of the recalls.my main concern/question is why won't nissan cover the expenses for the repair of the front end noise (one of the tsb's #ntb93189) which will lead to further damage of the vehicle??? no safety defect listed in the summary.

When driving in the rain or putting the windshield wipers on, they will work whenever they feel like, and cut off in the center of the windshield. The cosnumer doesn't know the cause.
