The contact owned a 2014 nissan frontier. While driving approximately 25 mph, the front driver steering wheel, front driver and passenger side seat belt air bags deployed without impact. As a result, the contacts view of the road was obstructed and was headed towards a side walk however was able to bring the vehicle to a complete stop to avoid a crash. The contact stated no warning indicator illuminated. The contact sustained a lower arm injury and burn but no medical attention was received. A police report was not filed. The contact called the manufacturer and was informed to take the vehicle to a dealer to be serviced under an air bag recall. The vehicle was taken to local dealer teddy nissan located at 3660 boston rd, the bronx, ny 10469 where it was diagnosed that the system in the air bag and seat belts needed to be replaced but confirmed there was no recall. The vehicle was not repaired due to costs. The manufacturer had been informed of failure, and a case was filed. The failure mileage was approximately 139,900.

Takata recall. When in a "front end collision" at a high rate of speed (est. 70-80 mph), at impact, no air bags were deployed and resulted in hitting my head either against the steering wheel or the driver's side window (i am unsure, as i lost consciousness for seconds after the collision). This collision occurred, most recently, on 08/28/18. I was also involved in a "front end collision" with a semi-truck/18-wheeler in february of 2018. This was also at a high rate of speed but the impact was to the passenger side, predominantly. Although i didn't have a passenger, i still was hit hard enough that the impact jolted my head to, once again, hit my steering wheel and resulting in being transported to the er via los angeles fire department. Both of these accidents occurred on the highway and in motion.

All lights would illuminate on dashboard and vehicle would not start. The radio would turn on without any key in the ignition. This would only occur when raining outside and vehicle was parked. After an hour, the vehicle started but when taking the key out of the ignition, the vehicle would still remain running for about a minute or so before shutting off hard. Upon a quick inspection of the vehicle, it appeared the wires to the electrical system were hot, and i disconnected the battery to have it towed to avoid fire risk. I have a video of what the truck was doing. This occurred 4/10/16 and is back in the shop today- 4/29/16 for the same reason.

Instrument cluster giving vehicle parasitic draw between tsb and combination meter!instrument cluster stays on when keys out of vehicle and dash indicators flicker due to faulty combination meter. A recall should be recognized and the proper procedures should be taking care of for the manufacture recall.

Vehicle was in service dept. Forlojack installment. Before leaving i notice the rear sonar system on the vehicle wasn"t working nor showing on the rear view monitor. Was told the hold system need to be replace due to manufacturer defect. The fact is i just purchased the vehicle on 9/4/2014.

The contact's wife owns a 2014 nissan frontier. The contact stated that there was a burning odor in the vehicle and that the rear tail lights were not working. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic whom determined that the main wire harness was defective. The tail lights were replaced, but the failure still occurred because the harness was not replaced. The vehicle was not taken to the dealer for a diagnostic testing or repairs. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and referred the contact to nhtsa as the vin was not included in a recall. The approximate failure mileage was 36,000.

With less than 500 miles on new vehicle, noticed not only headlights were very dim, but extremely weak on driver side. When safely at home, open hood to see if there was a problem. The white plastic retaining ring that holds the headlight bulb (9007) in the headlight housing was off and hanging on the wires, and the headlight bulb was starting the come out of the headlight housing. After talking to the dealership, they compared the retaining ring to three other new, never sold before frontiers and found this was a standard part. The ring does not make a full 1/4 turn to tighten and the amount of pressure / force to tighten retaining ring equaled to almost nothing. Unknown if this will be a constant issue in my future ownership of this vehicle, but since this wasan issue on every frontier on this lot, even though they offered to replace the ring, nothing would be resolved, it's an identical ring.a) unknown if this will constantly come undone allowing the bulb to loosen and fall out.b) if this continues to come undone, water / moisture ? dirt can constantly enter the headlight housing.c) if bulb falls out and in use the hot bulb can / could melt the headlight unit, or fall on wires melting the material causing electrical issue.d) contacted nissan corporate with another issue and the response was they prefer to have the dealership handle vehicle concerns. So don't know how to communicate with nissan they have a poor product design / possible safety issue and should consider redesign of nothing else, the white retaining ring. I did suggest the service department should contact corporate of this, but unknownif this was turned in to nissan corporate.

Purchased vehicle used, with 28,000 miles.gas spurts out of filler neck 90% of the time when using automatic nozzle as tank nears 3/4 full; must finish filling at very slow rate manually.10% of the time gas spurts out filler neck as soon as filling begins, unless a one minute wait is observed between stopping and beginning to fill tank.

From a stand still, when accelerating to enter into traffic. Depressing the accelerator, the truck only moves into traffic but then the truck fails to accelerate. There is a flat spot. No acceleration at times.i have to "pedal" the accelerator to try to get the truck to move. Meanwhile i am stuck with traffic rapidly approaching because i cannot get out of the way. This problem happens intermittently and always at the worst time like when trying to enter onto a highway. I have had near collisions twice due to this problem. Nissan dealerhas found nothing. They cannot reproduce the problem when i take it to them.

When fueling truck, gasoline comes up fuel tank bottleneck. It's a known issue with this truck different years same problem. Very dangerous gas explodes out of the tank gets all over truck , myself , ground. Happens on every fill up. Air cannot vent when filling tank causes gas to rise overfill spraying gas everywhere.

When refueling vehicle fuel splashes out of reseptical after 10 seconds of fueling.the auto shutoff on the fuel pump activates and refueling stops but not after fuel splashes out on the person refueling the vehicle and creating a hazmat event at the fuel pumps.this does not happen at every fillup but if it happens at but if it does it at a pump it will continue splashing at that pump every time i try to get fuel..

Every time i need to fill my truck up, i never let it get below a quarter of a tank, fuel will come shooting back out as if it is full, but it is not. My truck was off, and the key not in the ignition. This has happened every since my getting this truck, 1/19/20190 to current. I have to fuel slow in order to get gas a full tank, like there is a kink in the system.

At 32000 on the freeway hadn't shifted in miles clutch begins to smoke, transmission slips power loss, with five miles lost any gear in transmission forward or reverse and no clutch. If it wasn't night and i was in heavy traffic would not have been good. Unknown for sure either weak defective clutch throw out bearing or bad hydraulic clutch system.5t

Vin#: [xxx]; my vehicle is still in warranty and "baker nissan" in houston, tx has refused to honor "drivetrain warranty". The one piece "cast aluminum "bell housing" (the "major connection" between the "engine and automatic transmission, covering the major "torque converter" which is basically the "hydraulic turbine that converts the engine rpm's/torque into hydraulic torque within the transmission, to the driveshaft, to rear axles, to wheels. The "alum. Bell housing" has "hundreds of major cracks" all around the portion (bottom & passenger side) that i can see and feel and "marked in red" in about 4 of 8 pictures which appears as it is possible, i could eventually "disintegrate"..., which could possibly allow the transmission to spin... I "only wonder" if the "floor shifter" spun to the left, if it could brake my right leg "into"... Guess that could be worse case...?my bell housing (from my little. Knowledge of metallurgy) was "cast" with either "low grade aluminum", "too thin a casting", not "treated properly", etc, etc. Whichever or where ever the "casting mfg."; did not cast my "bell housing" alone with inferior aluminum alloy or thickness! he (mfg.) cast hundreds if not thousands of these inferior aluminum "bell housing" castings. If i have not already stated before, brad baker, owner(?) of baker nissan in houston, tx, yesterday june 1, 2017, (paraphasing him): "...you have been complaining about this (vibration and ultimately transmission "slipping") for 2 years now, (to my knowledge, truck never lifted & looked at, all checking done by computer) and we found nothing wrong...and for me not to bring my vehicle to baker nissan again..." !31,000+ miles, june 1, 2017i'm near 63, and fighting bone cancer, can't afford a lawyer,...don't really know what to do...? help from you all would be appreciated...!!!thank you,[xxx]information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).

At ambient temperatures less than 10 degrees, the abs light and traction control light will illuminate upon first movement. This disables the abs system and the traction control system, it will also disable the 4 wheel drive system if not engaged before movement. Ambient temp must rise above 25 degrees to reverse the symptoms. This is a serious safety hazard for anyone that lives in a cold climate.

I have already filed a complaint: friday june 2, 2017. This is from research on www (thousands of ads to sell nissan "bell housings on www); from youtube concerning a $7,000 reair: autonation nissan of brandon in brandon, fl did the work and a few months later and a couple thousand miles i am having no issues and much of the bell housing rattle is gone! they ended up replacing my drive shaft along with the bell housing, and i also got a new front catalytic converter/downpipe as it was damaged during removal due to seized hardware. The whole warranty job was around $7,000! from youtube(the "red lines" in my attached photos are "cracks", you can "hang" your fingernail on) i learned there has been "bell housing decentigration, rear end of engine crankshafts breaking off, transmission bearings spinning in the trans. Housings and driveshafts wobbling, etc, etc. Should i report this to "federal trade commission? the date below is when i was driving (180 miles) home after purchasing vehicle. Baker nissan has been "jerking" me around for over two (2) years now. That is the reason brad baker stated to me: "...don't bring the vehicle back there again..." and i still have 28,000 miles / 2 1/2 years warranty on vehicle! drivetrains don't "vibrate" !!!

Traveling at approximately 55 miles per hour on a hill coasting on the down slope, the transmission disengages. When approaching the base of the hill, i stepped on the accelerator to resume speed and the transmission was not engaged causing the motor to speed up, but the vehicle continued to slow down. The gear shift on the automatic transmission was firmly engaged at the time. This has happened several times since purchasing the vehicle.

The automatic transmission on my truck doesn't hold on 10 to 13% grade it wants roll forward or backwards depending on which direction your trying to travel . I haven't taken it to the dealership yet for them to go over it to see what the problem is.

Seat belt buckle will not engage seat belt buckle. Nissan dealer maintenance department examined, says buckle must be replaced ($200, outside 30,000 mile warranty).

The contact owns a 2014 nissan frontier. While driving at various speeds and depressing the brake pedal, the accelerator pedal felt soft and spongy. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was acknowledged that the brake pedal was soft. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 10,000.

Steering.erratic steering was experienced when driving. Upon inspection it was discovered that the shaft from the steering wheel to the input shaft on the steering box was not connected properly.this created movement in the connection which wore off the splines.this resulted in erratic steering and steering failure that could have resulted in a fatal accident.the nissan rep did not seem concerned when i called to alert then.

The contact owns a 2014 nissan frontier. The contact stated that the surface of the dashboard melted and became sticky and shiny. When the sunlight shined on the melted surface of the dashboard, a glare was present creating a visibility hazard. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 19,000.

The hood latch failed when we were driving 65 mph on a highway, causing the hood to open, block our view and smash our windshield. The hood was bent, the roof was dented and the inside rearview mirror and overhead light came off.

The design of this nissan 2014 frontier crew cab's rear seat locking feature is very poor. We have not had any mishaps yet, but the possibility certainly exists because of the way you must unlock the rear passenger doors. When i took possession of my new truck i reported to the salesman my concerns pertaining to the way the rear doors unlocked. He told me to take it somewhere and have automatic locks put on it as they did not do that type of work. This feature should be standard on crew cabs.to unlock the back passenger doors, you must reach between the support column and the front seats and then "feel" your way to find the molded in lever to push to unlock.i have had a coat on before and must either take it off or push the sleeve up to fit my arm through this very limited access area.my fear is that sometime we will need to get the back door opened quickly and you have to physically get out of the truck to open a locked rear door.there is no outside keyed lock that you could use a key to gain access, you must stand outside the truck and reach this latch that is molded in with the door opener interior handle. I have written the dealership and nissan and all they will say is they will log it in their files. It is going to take a child or someone needing medical attention and then not being able to unlock the door and something tragic happening for nissan to address this poor design? i have asked them to physically try to unlock one of these doors and everyone has ignored my concern.

Frontal collision (rear end style) at approximately 50-60 mph on the interstate. Airbags did not deploy.

Vehicle is equipped with a back-up/rear proximity warning system. It consists of four sensors mounted on the face of the rear bumper, and a variable warning "beeper" in the cabin. One of the four sensors on my truck sustained damage on it's face, which the nissan dealer(lokey nissan, clearwater fl) says has caused the entire warning system to fail. This is a significant safety system, with quadruple redundancy. How can it's design allow for complete failure when one of four sensors (supposedly) fails? as a mechanical engineering p.e., i consider this to be a serious design flaw.

The cruise control will not coast down hill without decelerating up to 5 miles below set speed, so 55, if your set at 60, etc.the truck has the small 2.5 4cyl engine, but it will climb the first hill perfectly fine without missing a beat, just when it starts coming down the backside of the hill you can physically feel a drag like the throttle plate is completely closed.on very hilly terrain it will decelerate down the first hill, and upon reaching the second hill, accelerate sometimes violently (4 to 5k rpm) too catch up with itself.more often then not, i just shut the system off and drive normally too avoid unnecessary wear on the engine and trans, not too mention the loss in fuel economy.

Set cruise control at 55 mph on an interstate highway.when going down a slight hill, speed increases and the cruise control will disengage.at the bottom of the hill, speed drops approximately five (5) miles below set speed before cruise control reengages.i have also tested a 2015 nissan frontier with lead mechanic and the same problem occurred.i am concerned about the safety issue.after the dealership ran diagnostics, they saw no problems.nissan usa is aware of this.

I heard a load pop similar to a gun shot. My sun roof had just spontaneously exploded. It buckled in the middle and the whole roof was shattered.

My sun roof spontaneously exploded. Heard a lid pop looked up and the entire window was shattered. I was on the highway.

Side mirrors on the nissan frontier don't work good with stick on round convex mirrors.i still have hard a timeseeing the vehicle next to me. I tried 3", 2", and 1.5" inch on my truck.

The contact owns a 2014 nissan frontier. While driving at 40 mph, there was a vibration coming from the front tires of the vehicle. In addition, the contact stated that the vehicle was rough idling. The vehicle was taken to a dealer, who stated that the vehicle was equipped with incorrect lug nuts. As a result, the threads had separated from the tires. The technician diagnosed that all lug nuts, studs and tires needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired.the manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 12,000.
