This is information on the front seat bag that is causing problems. The seat bag light is coming on.19239355 ( case number).

Passenger side airbag light on, vehicle 2008 nissan frontier with 82000 miles.

The passenger seat airbag sensor will not register a passenger in the seat properly and is causing the airbag disabled light to illuminate on the dashboard, indicating the airbag will not deploy in an accident. This is an ongoing issue. It has been documented twice with the dealer, and once with the manufacturer who is refusing to escalate the issue.

The contact owns a 2008 nissan frontier. The contact stated that while driving approximately 65 mph during inclement weather, he noticed that the air bag warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where they advised him that the front passenger side air bag sensor failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was contacted and offered no assistance. The failure mileage was approximately 59,708. The current mileage was approximately 59,750. The vin was unavailable.

Tl- contact owns a 2008 nissan frontier nissmodriver front passenger airbagand rear side curtain air bag deployed without impact, while driving 30 mph. No injuries occurred at time. No warning lights illuminated before deployment. Vehicle was taken to chuck colvin ford nissan 1925 or-99w mcminnville,or (503) 472-6124. Vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired the manufacturer was contacted they provided case 35786777 they offered to pay for half of the repairs. Failure mileage 13300. Ep

On the 22nd of july 2016, my 2008 nissan frontier deployed both sides of its curtain airbags. I was traveling at roughly 3-5 mph on freest road 618 outside of camp verde, arizona. The road had a slight inclin of maybe 1-2%, with slightly muddy ground due to it raining. My frontiers front left tire rolled onto a rounded rock no taller than 4-5 inches tall and slipped off of it to the left. The slipping off of the rock was when the curtain airbags deployed. I was in the drivers seat driving the vehicle and my little brother was in the passenger seat. My little brother suffered a rug burn like scrape on his neck where the bag impacted him. There are no signs of impact anywhere on the truck which was confirmed by a nissan dealership service dept.

One day, all of the sudden, the flashing red airbag indicator light started flashing on the dash. I noticed there is major safety recall on my vehicle model and year for this exact problem, i've called the dealer where i bought this truck new, bill rapp nissan, syracuse, ny and another local dealer , burdick nissan, north syracuse, ny and they both indicated that my vehicle is not on their vehicle recall list.my understanding of this recall is that their is very serious safety concerns that, if in an accident, potentially my airbags would not deploy.

Ref recall 08v690000.why would our truck not be part of this recall?.we live in an area which is surrounded by ocean so salt corrosion is common.i know several others that have similar issue not only frontiers.i understand the front crash sensor corrosion is common. Please do something about this before someone gets hurt due to airbags or deploying due to this common sensor issue.

The local nissan dealership diagnosed an airbag flashing light on the dash as a faulty seat belt retractor at about 33,000 miles and took corrective action. They insisted that the problem was fixed and said that it is now covered under parts warranty.over the next 15,000 to 20,000 miles the fixed it two more times as a seat belt retractor, however the last time the light began to blink i took the vehicle and they gave me a new cause of the light.i was then told it was the passenger seat air bag sensor and that it was faulty and that it would cost me 1200 dollars to fix.i know that nissan has recent problems with air bags and in the past there has been a recall on the east coast concerning frontier airbags.i would guess that nissan corp.has larger issue with air bags and has been covering their tracks for years. I know i can't afford the $1200 repair bill to fix the problem and that now i am reluctant to have a passenger in the seat.i doubt that your agency will have a remedy for this problem, as i have little faith in an agency of governmenttaking on a corporation as large as nissan.

The vehicle was taken to the dealer, who stated that both the seat belt and the air bag seat cushion sensor needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 61,000.

The contact owns a 2008 nissan frontier.while driving 50 mph, the air bags deployed without a crash.the air bag indicator illuminated immediately after all the air bags (front, rear, and the ones near the sunroof) deployed.the manufacturer stated that an air bag technician would call him.the contact feels that the dealer was giving him the run around.the vehicle never lost power when the failure occurred and the vehicle was still at his residence.the contact sustained minor neck and back pains, in addition to facial burns from the air bags.the failure and current mileages were 22,000.

Horn only works when you turn steering to the right.

When the fuel tank is filled, the fuel gauge indicator will drop to the bottom (empty setting) and the check engine light will come on.after driving a short distance, the gauge will gradually move up.the process will repeat itself with the service engine light sometimes remaining on and other times it will turn off.

My horn stopped working back in dec. 2014. Then come to find out if i turn the steering wheel to the right it will work. If you push on the right of the wheel. So i finally put it in the shop on 02-17-2015. Then today i was told on 02-20-2015it is electrical. It has two parts to the horn. Plus getting no electrical to the airbags. I was told if i had gotten in a wreck they would not deploy. So that really made me mad. I had to finally break down and get a rental car because it is still in the shop. Plus i have read a lot of complaints from other people on this about there horns and airbags. Don't understand why there is no recalls on these items.

6- days after buying a brand new 2008 nissan frontier 2wd/se crew cab thecruise control would not stay on .on the day i went to take it back to the dealer the truck would not start, i had it towed back to the dealer where they worked on it for a week.they stated that sometimes it would start and other times it wouldn't,they said they had to call the nissan tech line thatinstructed themto check severaldifferent things but it still would not start so the tech line told them to replace the -"ipdm e/r".they said the truck was then fixed and to pick it up. I picked up the truck and went approximately 2-miles to a store and when i came back out the truck would not start again,i had it towed back to the nissan dealer again.this time they worked on it for 6-days and they said --"checked wiring going into ipdm box, found when wiggling wires they could here a click and then the vehicle would crank ,they unplugged wiring and traced wire back into main engine harness, found wire was spliced to itself and had a looseconnection, repaired wiring and confirmed operation, programmed all keys together, cleared all codes, cleared self learning control, relearned idle air volume and recalibrated steering angle sensor".they had me pick up the truck again on 9/10/08and so far it is ok.

I was driving my vehicle but it seem like it wasn't getting power. I shut it off and then it would not start. Add the starter replaced still and start the ate up fuse was blown.ticket to electrical shop they could not find anything wrong with it. Took it to the dealer they said it was the brain ecu and then they said that it was the brain and the transmission and the transmission was no good cost $5500 to fix

This is information on the front seat bag that is causing problems. The seat bag light is coming on.19239355 ( case number).

While driving the truck will shut off just like the key was turned off.this happened one or two times a day over a ten day period,i swapped my old key with my wife's key and the problem went away.i took it to a nissan dealership and they wanted to do $7000 of repairs and nothing about the key and ignition switch problem.so i have been using my wife's key for the past five days and no issues.nissan claims they never had any problems like this although the internet shows a recall in 2010 for 2003-2006 frontiers for a very similar problem.

Truck stops running while driving at speeds around 45mph. Engine off.

The contact owns a 2008 nissan frontier. While the vehicle was parked, it caught fire and flames and smoke emitted from under the hood. The fire department extinguished the fire. A fire report was not filed and there were no injuries sustained. The fire department stated that the fire was caused by a short circuit in the battery. The vehicle was towed to the contact's house. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue and stated that they could not assist because there was no known safety issue and the vehicle was out of warranty. The approximate failure mileage was 108,000. The vin was unavailable. Updated 06/29/17*lj*as

I was driving my vehicle in a parking lot, but it seemed like it wasn't getting power. So, i shut it off and when i tried starting it again the fans and lights came on but nothing else. I took it to firestone and they said it was the starter. They replaced the starter and that didn't fix the problem. They changed the atecu fuse. It started and ran for three minutes and then died again. Then i took it to an electrical shop. They couldn't find anything wrong.then i took it to the nissan dealer and they said it was the brain ecm. They fixed that and it still wouldn't start the car. Then they said it was the ecu and transmission. They said the transmission was no good due to cross contamination (radiator fluid into the transmission). This is a nissan defective radiator and they charged $5500 for a mistake that wasn't my fault.

Left work about 4 days ago at night when i was driving on the highway and the truck cut out on me(no gas pedal) so i look down at the voltage gauge and its reading about 10v..... So i thought to myself "ok well maybe the alternator finally went after all the [xxx]i put it through."went to pull over and here is where it gets weird, i went to hit the brakes and the pedal went to the floor, i coasted to the slow lane and turned my acc. Off and got it back home safely.long story short i tested the alternator and battery, both of which were shorted/old/dead.... Replaced both at the tune of $191 for the alternator and $70 for the battery.now, i hooked everything up today. Started the truck... Volt gauge is back at 10v... Then i see a small amount of smoke from under the hood, shut the truck off to find that the brake lines going from the master cylinder to the abs module are smoking... And the lines leaving the module are as well. I cooled everything down, went inside to grab a drink (4-5 min) and came back out and the truck was completely dead... Unhooked the battery and put it on a trickle charger for now.information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).

The contact owns a 2008 nissan frontier. While driving 5 mph, the vehicle stalled and the check engine and slip warning indicators illuminated. The contact was able to restart the vehicle on the first attempt. The contact stated that the failure occurred a total of three times. The vehicle was not taken to a local dealer to be diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 97,000.

My 2008 nissan frontier 4x4 crewcab is thrown all over the road by normal wind draft while driving down the road and on windy days it is a nightmare to keep on the road. You cannot relax while driving or you will find yourself on the shoulder of the road before you know it! i am afraid i am going end up in a wreck because of it or at the very least i believe i might be stop and accused of driving drunk. I have taken it back to the dealer and had it checked. Nothing mechanically wrong. They tell me it is wind draft. I am very disappointed i bought this truck as i can't do anything about it now and i don't think nissan is going to do anything about it, even though the look on the shop forman's face told me he knows it is a design flaw that he can do nothing about and that he is uncomfortable being caught in this position. This is an unsafe vehicle to operate and there should be a recall to do whatever it takes to fix this before someone gets killed. In my opinion, it is just a matter of time before this is reality!!!!!!!!

Truck stops running while driving at speeds around 45mph. Engine off.

I have a 2008 nissan frontier with only 48,000 miles on it. I noticed that the engine started to whine and took it to a local mechanic. Come to find out that this is a known issue and it will cost $1,500 to repair. I took a look on the internet and there are a lot of people stating that they have the same problem. I think that nissan should be pressured to send out a recall to pay for the repairs on these engines.

The contact owns a 2008nissan frontier.the contact stated that while driving 50 mph, the transmission shifted erratically. The vehicle was taken to the dealer. The technician diagnosed that the transmission fluid and coolant were mixing. As a result, the transmission and radiator needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was contacted. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 102,355 and current mileage 102,400.

Timing chain guides and tensioners need to be replaced. Also the timing chains [3]. If these fail on the highway, a severe accident could result.nissan has published bulletins on this problem but has not notified owners about it. There are evidently class action suits filed against them.these part are defective in design and quality and pose a potentially hazardous situation.

Trans cooler ruptured within radiator causing water/coolant to mix with transmission fluid destroying transmission.

Driving on street truck began to shake and vibrate i loss power and car couldn't shift into gear it seemedi pulled over and stopped and shut off. Car i started it began to drive and it wudnt go over 30mph i stopped and noticed leaking under the truck towards the engine and when i pressed on gas it wouldn't go still so i stopped and got towed

The engine makes a whining noise that increases in frequency with engine rpm. The truck has 69,000 miles on it but the noise has been apparent for some time. I took the truck to the dealer and was informed that the secondary timing chain tensioners were worn out and needed to be replaced at a cost of $1,800.

I have the well documented problem with the radiator coolant entering and damaging the transmission. I am having it repaired anissan dealership. I will have to pay over 3200.00!. There was a settlement agreement that is ridiculous!. The problem does not even occur until over 80000 miles when nissan will not cover anything. There are hundreds if not thousands of complaints.

The antifreeze and transmission fluid got mixed together in my truck and i am now told that the manufacturer knew that the truck would at least give me 100,000 miles before that would actually happen.

The contact owns a 2008 nissan frontier. The contact stated that while driving at approximately 20 mph, the accelerator pedal was depressed but the vehicle did not accelerate. Engine intermittently flutters while in gear.i bought this vehicle while still under warranty; however, while it was being driven around the dealership for service, etc. It went over the 60,000 mile warranty.the dealer said they would still look at the problem and suggested that it may need a throttle adjustment.after speaking with the mechanic he said the throttle was within range and it was reported to him that all frontiers and pathfinders have that problem.someone should be able to force nissan to fix this problem.

My nissan dealer told me today that the timing chain on the 4.0l v6 engine in my truck requires replacement.this truck has less than 60,000 miles on it and the dealer charges $2,140 for the work.timing chains are normally expected to last for the life of the vehicle.failure of the timing chain would destroy the engine and, if it occurred while the vehicle was in motion, could result in a crash.nissan has known about a defective timing chain problem on this and related engines since at least 2004, yet they continued to use those defective timing chains until approximately 2010.nissan should issue a recall and replace the chains under warranty.

A whining or buzzing type noise has develop from the timing chain area caused by excess slack in the secondary timing chains. Nissan has issued a service bulletin (ntb09-128) regarding this issue. Replacement of both secondary timing chains and their tensioner shoes will be necessary to repair this concern. My 2008 frontier has 89k miles on it (out of nissan's 60k warranty) and has been whining for sometime now. Nissan knows of this problem per the previously mentioned tsp. It is my worry that if the chain breaks or fails while driving it the motor will instantly stop/fail and possibly lock up therefore putting myself and family and or others at great risk for injury.

My truck would go in to gear but would not drive. I had it diagnosed by a transmission shop and they said that the radiator was leaking water and coolant in to my transmission and it would need to be replaced. I then had my vehicle towed to the nissan dealer where the technician said that this is caused by a faulty hose on radiator and it was happening to a lot of frontiers and xterras. When my husband questioned the tech on this being a recall he stated that it should be, but is not because it does not cause a safety issue. He told us we would need a new radiator, hoses, and transmission. The truck breaking down is a safety issue!we then had our truck towed to our normal mechanic and he is repairing it now.

The contact owns a 2008 nissan frontier. While driving various speeds, the vehicle stalled with and all the warning lights illuminated on the instrument panel. The vehicle was able to restart minutes later. In addition, the service engine warning light and the flip error light illuminated continuously. The failure recurred six times. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that the cause of the failure was undetermined. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 61,000. The vin was not provided.

1) $1473 to replace timing chain system @ 53,610 miles2) nissan had issued a service bulletin ntb09-128 revealing a knowledge of the issue on at least 3 models over a 5 year period of time3) called nissan consumer affairs to check on reimbursement since nissan knew it was a problem. In fairness, they responded within 24 hrs.only to take less than 1 minute to deny the claim4) wrote 3 letters (1 per month) to nissan consumer affairs until they contacted me again today 1/13/2016 only to deny the claim once again.i've owned only nissan trucks since 1984 and been very happy with their products and quality. I bought this truck new in 2008 and only had53,610 miles when this issue came up. I'm thankful i heard the noise and had it fixed before the chain(s) seized and caused major enginedamage or even a wreck.i would have thought i had an uncommon problem (bad luck) if it hadn't been documented via the service bulletin.nissan acknowledged the issue via the service bulletin that covered at least 3 models over a 5 year time span. They now refuse to accept anytype of responsibility. A quick internet search reveals several class action lawsuits concerning the timing chain issue. I'm very unhappywith nissan's lack of product support on what was was clearly a quality assurance problem. I will most likely not buy (nor recommend)a nissan product anytime in the foreseeable future.

All of a sudden i heard a whining noise that i had never heard in my 2008 nissan frontier 4.0 truck.the noise is new and over the last week or so, it comes and goes.vehicle went out of warranty 2.5 months ago at 5 yrs 2.5 months old. 54500 miles on the truck. The whine pitch increases with engine speed.in neutral as you rev the engine you hear the whine noise go up and down with the rpms.very disappointing to think i am stuck with a large $1500 timing belt issue with what i thought was a well designed vehicle from a company i thought i could trust high quality.

This vehicle has known timing belt issues.the vehicle starts making a loud noise(whining) that gets louder as i drive faster on any road.this is a common problem and nissan has not done anything to correct this problem.it will cost over 2400 dollars to fix this problem and nissan doesn't seem to recall for this issue

The contact owns a 2008 nissan frontier. While driving approximately 30 mph, there was a waddling noise coming from the passenger side of the engine. The vehicle stalled and the warning indicators illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the timing chain tensioner failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 6,000.

The contact owns a 2008 nissan frontier. The contact stated that while driving at low speeds, he observed an abnormal thumping sound from the hood of the vehicle without warning. The contact made the manufacturer aware of the failure, and the manufacturer referred the contact to his local dealer to have the vehicle diagnosed. The vehicle was taken to local dealer (tom hesser nissan , 900 oneil hwy, dunmore, pa, 18512) where it was diagnosed that the radiator hose was leaking fluid into the transmission causing the transmission to fail. The dealer stated that the transmission and radiator needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The failure mileage was 46,892.... .updated 11/16/17 the consumer requested to be reimbursed for the repairs. Updated 11/30/2017

Transmission cooler in radiater failed and coolant leaked into transmission causing transmission failure and overheating.broke down on side of road and had to be towed.

I received a letter for a settlement offer from nissan about the transmission cooler failure which leads to total transmission failure. I started to research what was wrong and what i can do about it seeing as my frontier has 102,000 miles on it and is not covered by the settlement offer. As i did some research i found out about a symptom before transmission failure occurs which is at an idle you have a loss of heat until you rev the engine or start to accelerate and heat returns. I noticed that this had happened around november 2012 while i had left my truck running while parked for a few minutes which i normally do not do. I started to drive and the heat was working again so i thought it might have been a thermostat sticking and watched my vehicle for the signs of this to happen again. I did not notice anything happen again because i do not let my truck sit idle long enough until i tested it today and when i let it sit idle for a minute the heat stopped working properly and returned to normal function when i started driving it. I am trying to find a way to repair the problem before it gets worse but i do not know if i will be able to afford it. So as for the time being i will have to drive my only vehicle to work and hope the transmission does not fail completely and cause an accident or worse. Hopefully i can find a affordable repair or nissan will be forced to repair it before someone driving down the road at highway speeds has this happen and us consumers suffer bodily injury or fatalities before they will do the honorable thing and admit their vehicle has faulty materials used in its construction and repair them. Only they will suffer in the end if they do nothing.

The cooler tubes for the transmission and the radiator cracked, allowing for fluid to leak into the transmission. This resulted in rapid degradation of the friction elements within the transmission. The frontier is now undrivable.

Failed transmission twice due to leak of coolant caused by radiator leak.occurred at 50k and 64k miles. First failure caused a delay after pressing accelerator allowing engine to rev before engaging when trying to accelerate from a stop.both replacements covered by warranty.

I just had to have the radiator replaced and the automatic transmission rebuilt at a cost of almost $3,000 in my 2008 nissan frontier se 4v 2.5 with only 84,000 miles because of the cross contamination. According to carcomplaint.com, the average owner is becoming aware of a problem at 94,565 miles. If nissan would have recalled the radiators immediately upon knowledge of the defect, it would have saved them from dealing with numerous transmission replacements and customer satisfaction concerns. I brought my truck to the nissan dealer and i was told by the service manager that the problem was not caused by contamination and i should get help from nissan who later on denied help for me. The next day i brought my nissan frontier to a shop expert in transmissions and their diagnosis was that the failure in my transmission was caused by an "anti-freeze contamination, code 1751".nissan knew that they had a faulty radiator and instead of recalling the radiator, they extended the warranty knowing that the majority of the cars would surpass 80,000 miles before they started having problems with the transmission. Now looking at high cost to fix the timing chain cover seal. Nissan knows about both of these issues and is not taking responsibility and won't help.

There is some sort of emission control behind the rear tires. It seems to get plugged and engages my service light to come on. Well since i live on a dirt road it is almost impossible to keep it from being plugged. I've had to have it replaced three (3) different times. It really irritates me.

Service engine light came on. Fuel sensor reported. 2008 nissan frontier.

Known defect by nissan. Radiator fluid leaks into transmission causing complete failure of transmission.they have extended warranty for new transmission but comes with a $2500 deductible.why should i have to pay anything when they know they made a defective product.

My check engine light went on as i was driving home on a sunday afternoon. With in an hour, and almost arriving home... The vehicle began to slow down and could not accelerate past 25mph. I stopped at a traffic light and felt a very large bang under the truck. As i tried to accelerate from the light i could only get up to 25mph. Then the truck stalled completely, in the middle of a busy street. Luckily no one was close behind me and i had my hazard lights on, otherwise this would have been a sure crash. I took it to a mechanic who checked and informed me that my radiator was faulty and had contaminated and ruined my transmission. I paid $2900 to have it fixed. No help, or money back from nissan, not even an apology for their faulty parts.

Heard a high pitched whining noise coming from the engine of my nissan 2008 crew cab 4 wheel drive frontier.made an appointment to have the issue evaluated at the same nissan dealership where i purchased the vehicle (nissan of atlantic city - formerly admiral nissan).i purchased the used frontier in june 2011; approximate mileage was 40 - 41k.i also purchased an extended warranty at that time - 48 months, 48 thousand miles (expiration 6/15/15).after evaluating the problem, a nissan service manager told me that the noise was coming from the timing chain and its components - cost of repair $1900.00 - 2000.00 plus 7% sales tax.i asked him if the repair was covered by the extended warranty i purchased. He said no! he informed me that my extended warranty had expired for mileage; i was over by a few hundred miles.this is an existing problem.nissan had know of, and been dealing with this issue well before i purchased my 2008 frontier in june 2011.however, this information was never made available directly to the consumer. When the engine whine first began it was low - barely noticeable, but the more i drove the worse it got.if i had been aware of the service bulletins sent to thedealers about this issue, i would have had the vehicle checked out before the warranty expired; the extended warranty had a $50.00 deductible.my final cost for the repair on 3/28/15 was $1974.16. Nissan of america is at fault and so is the dealership - nissan of atlantic city.they are both responsible because they both had the information about existing timing chain problems and failed to disclose it.

I have had this vehicle in twice now due to the smell of leaking anti freeze and have been told no problem ,now we have gotten two different things about the radiator and transmission i have called the customer service number they gave and they told me to look for leaks or check fluid for milky color, there needs to be a total recall on these before someone gets seriously hurt!

Reports of transmission failure due to coolant from radiator entering transmission via the internal at cooler, located in the radiator.

2008 nissan frontier with owner manual errors. Consumer states that the page in the owners manual has errors about the engine compartment. Consumer believes that a corrected page should be sent to all consumers.

The passenger side headlamp assembly is warped where the silver divider is between the top and bottom also the side amberdeflector inside the assembly is broken.the driver side headlamp both the reflectors inside are out of place, the larger one has slid down where the main headlight is.you cannot get inside the headlamp assembly to repair these.the only option is to replace them.nissan refuses to replace them because my warranty is no longer valid since i have over 36,000 miles.the vehicle is a 2008 nissan frontier.i have never been involved in any accident.i have never replaced the bulbs.

Receive notice of a recall. Pco4210v-0752008 nissan fuel sender recall.contact nissan as directed. They informed me that it will two to six months to get parts for the repair. What kind of recall is this?

Service engine light came on. Fuel sensor reported. 2008 nissan frontier.

The contact owns a 2008 nissan frontier. The contact stated that the fuel level gauge failed to show the correct fuel level readings. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, who diagnosed that the fuel level sensor needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 40,000.

Nissan acknowledged that the fuel gauge sending unit in model years 2004-08 was faulty, causing the unit to send faulty information on fuel levels and causing the check engine light to come on.they offered an extended warranty to repair the problem, but when i contacted them, they said my vin# wasn't covered - even though it is the year model affected with the problem.no such restriction on vin# s is presented on their websites.it is only after i tried to get the problem repaired that they denied covering it, even though it is a known defect.i appealed all the way to corporate and got nowhere.i believe they are simply trying to dodge paying for a repair that is their own manufacturing fault.

The contact owns a 2008 nissan frontier. While driving 45 mph, the fuel gauge lever decreased and the low fuel warning indicator illuminated, despite the contact having just filled up the vehicle with fuel. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who stated that the fuel sending unit failed. The vehicle was not repaired and the manufacturer was notified. The approximate failure mileage was 115,000.

The contact owns a 2007 nissan frontier. The contact stated that the fuel gauge indicated that the fuel tank was half full and while at a stop light the fuel gauge erroneously decreased to empty causing the empty light to illuminate. The vehicle was taken to the dealer. The technician diagnosed that the fuel sensor on the fuel pump was faulty and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified but no remedy was offered. The failure mileage was 43,555.

Fuel gauge and empty light reflecting empty even after filling up the tank. Engine service light is on.

I filled up my truck one day for vacation n right after i turn on my truck it read full then i parked it to load up suit cases then i turn it back the light came and was reading empty then my service engine soon light came on.

Fuel vent tube is so blocked when opening gas cap vaporsblow out with much pressure and can not pump gas into truck as it spreads out over the truck and all over the place!! i just bought this truck and i am sure it is a very serious safety concern ,could turn deadly ..

Having the same issue that other frontiers were recalled for. Gas gauge is unreliable and the engine light stays on. Other frontiers manufactured just three months before ours are on recall but not ours. This is obviously a nissan issue as well documented on various boards and websites.

When attempting to fill the tank with gasoline at several different gas stations, the liquid can not be properly dispensed into the tank because of a blockage.the liquid immediately spews out of the gas tank and onto the person filling the vehicle.

I have a 2008 nissan frontier and the gas vent control valve has failed where the back wash flap at the top of the gas tank has fallen into the gas tank neck preventing me from being able to put gas into the gas tank. I called nissan headquarters and they transferred me to a local dealer. The service manager there said i would be charged $150.00 just for them to look at the vehicle. I think this is outrages because i read on your government site that this is a common problem on more nissan models too. This should be a recall item. Respectfully, michael h.

The contact owns a 2008 nissan frontier. The contact stated that the vehicle key fob was abnormally sensitive and would engage or disengage while the key fob was in his pockets. My coolant mixed with transmission fluid. Causing it not to accelerate.nissan mechanic says it'll cost 6000 dollars to completely fix. Absurd!!!!!! 120,000 mile vehicle.

While driving down rural highway (two lanes in each direction) in the right lane, truck suddenly began to buck and slowed dramatically.with a loaded bed in the truck, it was fortunate that there weren't too many people on the road at the time of the incident.limped vehicle home on secondary roadways.

This is in regards to an item already under investigation by the nhtsa. I am another victim of nissan's leaking transmission cooler leading to a catastrophic transmissoin failure. My transmission locked in second gear upon accelerating from a stop sign. Fortunately i was 1/2 mile from my home on a side street and not on the interstate where such a problem could lead to an accident. Consumers need to know about this problem. The fix is relatively cheap before the transmission cooler begins to leak. Unfortunately consumers are unaware of the issue until it is too late, and the repair requires a new transmission and radiator costing $5000 to $6000. Although no wreck was involved in my incident, the potential for an accident is definately present if such a failure where to happen on a congested interstate.

Upon pennsylvania state required inspection the inspector recognized that the rear seals of the axle were "leaking" fluid and that the fluid had saturated the entire braking assembly including the caliper, pads, rotor and emergency brake shoes causing the operation of the vehicle to be a hazard to the operator. When asked when this occurred the inspector said that it must have been this way for some time based on the amount of axle grease covering the braking mechanisms. For a driver of said vehicle there would be zero indications of failure of the seals due to high temperature when applying the brakes causing the oil to gel and/or burn away which would leave no visible signs of leakage on the ground. I feel that this causes an immediate danger to the driver and their occupants of the vehicle. The over all poor design of the axle shafts by nissan engineering has allowed this situation to occur. A tsb currently exists for this issue and nissan is aware of the problem.

Transmission locked during driving could have caused an accident.transmission fluid mixing with coolant causing transmission failures

Purchased this vehicle in jan of 2017 as a used truck.had less than 2 mos. The transmission has failed. As we took it to our mechanic for repair, we discovered nissan has had this issue on several of their models.the radiator fluid had leaked into the transmission and ruined the transmission.

Trans cooler ruptured within radiator causing water/coolant to mix with transmission fluid destroying transmission.

Trans slips on and off (specially with o/d on), when pulling without o/d is less noticeable, re engaging of speed becoming more and more and abrupt and stepped, dangerous and annoying.

Transmission needs replacing.

Radiator failed leaking antifreeze into transmission thus causing transmission to slip while merging into traffic.

Nissan has acknowledged that a manufacturer defect in 2005-10 frontier, pathfinder, and xterra vehicles equipped with automatic transmissions have an internal crack on the oil cooler tube may occur leading to internal leakage of engine coolant. This defect has destroyed my transmission and many other consumers' transmissions, as evidenced by the class action lawsuits which have been filed against nissan. Nissan offered customers an extended warranty for the radiators for vehicles with less than 100,000 miles, but never addressed the transmission issues, which range from $4000-6000 to rebuild.i realized i had an issue with the transmission while making a left turn on hwy 98 in florida, where oncoming traffic is traveling at speeds of greater than 60 miles an hour.the transmission slipped while i was making the turn and was nearly t-boned by two oncoming vehicles.it is inconceivable that nissan has not recalled these vehicles.nissan is putting consumers lives in danger and costing hard-working americans substantial amounts of money by not recalling these vehicles.

The antifreeze and transmission fluid got mixed together in my truck and i am now told that the manufacturer knew that the truck would at least give me 100,000 miles before that would actually happen.

After the engine light went on on my frontier, i took it to the mechanic. Mechanic states that i have a faulty coolant. Its a known issue by nissan frontiers. Basicly the coolant will leak into my radiator which then will mess up the transmission. This will cost me about $4000.00.

Started to notice heat not working at an idle but when accelerated heat was working fine. I didn't think anything about it seeing as it was cold outside. Then i received a notice for a suit against nissan for transmission problems caused by transmission cooling line leaking causing coolant and transmission fluid to mix and transmission failing. I now have 102,000 miles on my frontier and the settlement nissan offers will not cover me even though vehicle is only 5 years old. I did some research and found out the heat issue is caused by the leak as well. Nissan should have a recall for this issue not a settlement which only covers people who never drive their vehicle. 8 year 80,000 mile extension is a joke. Now i will have to come out of pocket to repair my only vehicle that i have before further damage is done to the transmission. It stutters at the moment hopefully it wont completely fail before i can afford to repair it.

Failed transmission twice due to leak of coolant caused by radiator leak.occurred at 50k and 64k miles. First failure caused a delay after pressing accelerator allowing engine to rev before engaging when trying to accelerate from a stop.both replacements covered by warranty.

The contact owns a 2008 nissan frontier. The contact stated that while driving at approximately 20 mph, the accelerator pedal was depressed but the vehicle did not accelerate. In addition, the vehicle started smoking. The contact stated that the front driver's side air bag warning indicator illuminated continuously. The vehicle was towed to the contact's residence where it was diagnosed by an independent mechanic that the radiator and the transmission failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 167,514.

Known defect by nissan. Radiator fluid leaks into transmission causing complete failure of transmission.they have extended warranty for new transmission but comes with a $2500 deductible.why should i have to pay anything when they know they made a defective product.

Radiator that controls the transmission coolant let go causing the transmission coolant to mix with the engine coolant.i had the transmission repaired at new river nissan back in 2018. Before i had nissan repair it i had taken it to a transmission shop where it was flushed out and a small radiator added to the truck because of the radiator going bad . The truck had less than 80,000 miles on it and less than a 9 years. As the recall was added to that after all the problems from the radiator.i fill like i should be reimbursed for everything that i paid out which was about 3500.00 total. But now it's still mixing coolant after being serviced by a nissan dealer.

First long trip since i bought the used truck, a trip to oakridge, 90 mile round trip from home. The truck made it back to our driveway, then when i put on the break for my husband to get out, it would not move and all the dash lights came on. I couldn't budge the truck. It was locked up. Couldn't move the stick. The engine quit. Forced it into park and tried to restart, but not a sound. The neighbor came over with his code reader. It said p1000. Battery checked good, got a new one anyway because its age. Grounds were good, but cleaned anyway. Had it towed to dealer. They put a new transmission in.

Transmission cooler in radiater failed and coolant leaked into transmission causing transmission failure and overheating.broke down on side of road and had to be towed.

Radiator coolant leaking into transmission. Resulting in a failed transmission while driving. Very dangerous started slipping gears. Only 52000 miles on truck.

Engine coolant has leaked from the radiator into the transmission fluid cooling section of the radiator, then into the transmission resulting in over $5200 in a transmission rebuild.having checked various web sites i notice that this has been a recurring problem with this model.my question is:if nissan has known about this problem, why has a recall not been issued?also, why should owners be responsible for footing the bill for rebuilding the transmission?due to the nature of this, i will be contacting the federal transportation agency that provides oversight of vehicle safety and recalls.it is unsatisfactory that nissan does not own up to it's responsibilities!

Radiator and transmission failure due to cross contamination of radiator and transmission fluid caused by cracked atf line running through engine coolant chamber in radiator.

While vehicle is in motion and being driven downa city street or highway and making a turn the transmission goes from in forward motion (drive)to neutral (no motion, but acceleration of engine continues) for a period of 5-8 seconds, and then the transmission engages into forward motion (drive) with a large jerkking motion or thud.this happens at stop lights, and while in motion crossing highways, city streets, and when in motion making turns on highways and city streets, or from stoplights.cause is unknown, have not found a mechanic who can diagnose the cause, have had transmission fluid changed with no improvement in the problem.this problem occurs at least three to five times per week.

Left rear axle seal failed and grease from axle coated caliper and brake disc, rendering braking ineffective on that wheel.this is a known issue with nissan with a technical service bulletin (ntb100008) issued, but nissan only selectively applies the repair. Grease coating the brake appears visually the same as brake dust, and owner's manual requires inspection of seals only every 7500 miles, so braking may be lost for a considerable period of time before discovery.serious accident was narrowly avoided on 10-14-2011, ironically on return from dealer, when car ahead stopped in lane to turn left; hard braking and swerve into right lane avoided collision but truck stopped with front grill at same point as front seat in the stopped car.

Noticed shaking in passenger side front tire. Took to transmission shop after doing thousands of dollars of worked to the front end. To find out that the radiator and transmission were mixing fluid. Shop told me transmission it is done and must be rebuilt and radiator must be rebuilt. Been told this is a common problem with the frontier.

The well known issue of radiator fluid leaking into the transmission which destroys the transmission rendering it useless. Many complaints about the same issue with these vehicles. My truck is dead and this issue has been well documented, a class action suit was filed, nissan should be liable to repair these faulty transmissions. My problem began at low miles, i've spent $2000 at nissan to replace the faulty radiator and flush the transmission 2x to try and save it. This is a well known issue that needs to be addressed.

Noticed oil / grease on rear tires sidewall. Taken to nissan dealer for inspection. Mechanic found a failure of both rear axle seals causing fluid to cover rear axle, differential, rear brakes, and tires. I was advised to not drive the truck due to possible axle and wheel separation from the rear end. If i had not found this i could easily be dead due to wheel axle separation from the vehicle in motion. This is a major safety issue and the vehicle recalled for this problem. After repair was performed the mechanic told me the rear axle housing vent tube clogged causing pressure to build up blowing out the rear seals. Nissan corp. Usa was notified but declined to assist customer with extensive repairs stating that although being under the 60,000 mile power train limit the vehicle was 5 months over the 5 year age limit. Nissan corp. Usa did not view this as a safety issue.

Transmission failure due to coolant in trans oil contaminating trans components. Total trans rebuild/replace radiator and trans cooler.130k miles on vehicle - low miles for a 2008 frontier.the vehicle shuddered, hesitated, would not pick up speed as it should, was having difficulty shifting thru gears as it transitioned from stop to moving, typically around 30-40 mph under load (accelerating).we have since found out this is a known problem. Expensive repair!

Drivers side rear axle seal leak.differential vent leak.both started about 100,000 miles.

On the above date i first noticed that when the vehicle was idling the truck would not throw any heat.on april 26, 2014 the transmission would not shift out of overdrive. I shut the vehicle down, restarted and push the button to take out overdrive and vehicle was driven in fourth. On may 8, 2014 while driving the "check engine light" came on as well as the 4 wheel lo range light came on and i drove it 2 miles to my home, shut the engine down and it never restarted again.

Starting having problems with transmission it started popping as i would back up , so i thought it was the drive shaft. I took it to a garage and they found that the radiator cooling system had let go letting the cooling and transmission mix. I don't understand why there wasn't a recall on this if nissan new about it. It started to slip a couple of times as i went to pull out and that's when i took it to garage.

Total transmission failure due to coolant mixed with transmission fluid.

Transmission cooler in radiator leaked causing engine coolant to mix with transmission fluid causing transmission to break down

Reports of transmission failure due to coolant from radiator entering transmission via the internal at cooler, located in the radiator.

Light flashing on dash which appeared to be the airbag. Mechanic did diagnostic test said it needs seat belt assembly replacement.

Seat belt light stays flashing, tire light stays flashing, service engine light stay on even after dealer reset.

Around march 23, 2020 i noticed my drivers seat moving when i accelerate or slow down.i thought the problem was loose hardware so i was going to tighten the mounting bolts over the weekend.when i started to tighten the hardware i found it was all tight.but the seat continued to move about.that weekend i removed the driver's seat and found the front right mounting point torn out of the sheet metal.the threaded re-enforcement tab had torn through the sheet metal used at the seat mounting point.i removed the tab from the seat and noticed that the spot welds had not failed it was the sheet metal brace bracket, it was attached to, that had failed.i first noticed the movement while heading home from work and accelerating from a stop.i was making a left turn from a 2 lane side road to a 6 lane divided city road.in the time that i have owned this vehicle it has never been wreaked, and to the best of my knowledge this vehicle has never been in an accident. I have gotten several repair estimates from collision shops.universally all of the shops claimed to have never seen this kind of damage.

Brake pedal goes below the gas pedal.i have hit both pedals in a rush stops.

I have a 8 month old frontier nissan vehicle , with just 1 service on time everything - the failure i got a loose nut on the rear brake caliper - while i was driving downhill on a mountain with snow - lost all brake fluids and brake systems just went hard to work and not a uniform brake. To correct i went to dealer and they said they just re-torque the nut and that's it.

The contact owns a 2008 nissan frontier. While driving approximately 5-10 mph approaching a stop sign he engaged the brakes and the brakes popped. When he depressed thebrakes theyfailed to operate,he then engaged the emergency brake. He continued to drive to his destination. He called a tow company and had the vehicle towed to an authorized nissan dealer. The dealer advised him that all four rotors and the front brake pads had rusted out. The dealer was repairing the vehicle at the time of the complaint.the failure and current mileage were 4,844.

We own a 2008 nissan frontier truck/ 4 wheel drive, 6cyl.the brakes are far too soft, and spongy, require far too much pedal travel to be safe or effective,or to be effectively used by anyone!!all frontier models have this same problem.they need to be recalled/brake system corrected & made firmer, safer!

The contact owns a 2008 nissan frontier. The contact stated that when depressing the brake pedal, the pedal would seem loose and extend to the floorboard. The failure was intermittent when in traffic and when the contact was braking a lot. The dealer replaced the master cylinder but the failure continued. The failure mileage was approximately 1,500 and the current mileage was approximately 28,000.

2008 nissan frontier. Consumer states problems with braking system *tgwthe consumer stated steady pressure on the brake pedal caused loss of position and eventually sinking toward the floor. Sudden stops did not have firm brake pressure on the brake pedal. The dealer replaced the master cylinder, but the problem continued.the second repair attempt was to replace the booster pump, but to no avail.

The contact owns a 2008 nissan frontier. He stated that his vehicle was purchased in november 2008. While driving approximately 35 mph and engaging the brakepedal it extended to the floor until he heard metal to metal. The vehicle stopped; however, the vehicle accelerated when the accelerator pedal was engaged. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer who stated that they couldn't duplicate the problem. The vehicle was taken to an independent facility where they stated that vehicle had a leak in the master cylinder. The vehicle was not repaired and the failure continued to occur. The failure mileage was 200. The current mileage was 13600. Updated 03/12/10. *ljupdated 09/21/10

The contact owns a 2008 nissan frontier. While traveling 25 mph the contact noticed that the steering wheel had suddenly stopped moving and could not be turned. The vehicle was taken to the dealership where the contact was informed that the steering shaft needed to be repaired. There were no prior warnings and the vehicle has not been repaired. The failure mileage was 11000 and the current mileage was 12000. Updated 11/19/10 the consumer stated the vehicle was repaired. Updated 11/23/10

2008 nissan frontier se 4x4 king cab. 35000 kmnotice rock chips in the paint, had some repaired at nissan around bottom of doors(all four). Now am getting bubbling of paint and rust across the top of the windshield, wear i notice other paint chips. I've taking the truck back to nissan wondering why the rock chip around the drivers side wheel well was not fixed when i brought the truck in the first time for paint damage, they said "we only pay up to 500 bucks in damage to paint for the hole truck'....now i have a brand new truck with 35000 km on it with rust..i'm taking the truck over again today (aug 9 2010) to brasso nissan in calgary alberta, to show then the rust across the top of the windshield and see what happens...i've called nissan of canada and they said ' take it to brasso nissan first and see what happen, and call as back with the info brasso gives you...

Rear doors are falling apart, nissan says they won't cover repairs because i live on dirt road , truck bed is splitting and falling apart , nissan says it is because i haul hay in bed(pick up truck frontier).

After the engine light went on on my frontier, i took it to the mechanic. Mechanic states that i have a faulty coolant. Its a known issue by nissan frontiers. Basicly the coolant will leak into my radiator which then will mess up the transmission. This will cost me about $4000.00.

The contact owns a 2008 nissan frontier. The contact was driving 20 mph when the vehicle suddenly became extremely difficult to control. The vehicle was taken to the dealer several times for the failure who was unable to duplicate or locate a failure. The dealer performed an alignment and balanced the tires yet, failure was not corrected. The vehicle was taken to a local mechanic who performed a diagnostic that located a failure at the front suspension. The vehicle was not further repaired. The failure mileage was 19,000 and the current mileage was 31,000.

Seat belt light stays flashing, tire light stays flashing, service engine light stay on even after dealer reset.

Transmission has water in it from the radiator leaking into it now i have to replace my transmission.

The antifreeze and transmission fluid got mixed together in my truck and i am now told that the manufacturer knew that the truck would at least give me 100,000 miles before that would actually happen.

The contact owns a 2008 nissan frontier. The contact stated that while stopped, the vehicle suddenly accelerated. The contact mentioned that smoke was emitting from the tires and in order to stop the vehicle the engine had to be shut off. The vehicle was taken to the dealer who was unable to duplicate the problem and informed the contact that the computer did not record failure.the manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The vehicle had not been repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 100,000.

The spare tire on the vehicle is held in place by a chain under the rear of the vehicle.its hoisted into place from the back of the vehicle.when checking the air pressure in the spare tire, i found the spare tire rim badly rusted.i'm afraid that the rim's holes will ultimately become so large so as not to hold the lug nuts.if the spare with rusted lug nut holes that were too large, was installed on the vehicle, the spare could possibly come off while the vehicle was in motion. Furthermore, the anchor point on the spare tire hoist is also rusting badly.it may fail to support the spare tire which could then drop from the rear of the vehicle.if the vehicle was moving when it fell, it could bounce and strike the gas tank, possibly causing an accident.
