Lifter failed, loss of acceleration, loud tapping in engine. Replaced under warranty

The vehicle nearly stalls, has severe loss of power, and decelerates at random times and at any speed.there is also an occcasional knocking sound coming from the engine.this is a very dangerous driving situation but, is my only means of transportation.the problem occured out of nowhere causing me to believe it is a manufacturer defect.the vehicle was serviced by the dealer before purchase and ran smoothly until this point..

Exhaust manifold studs broke.four (4) studs on each side, securing the exhaust manifold to the cylinder head failed and broke.this allowed exhaust gasses to leak into the engine and passenger compartment.failure noted by dealer when performing other service.

Exhaust manifold leak.

Exhaust manifold leaks at the engine. This is a well known manufacturer's defect with the manifold studs. Some models and model years have been covered by an extended warranty. Although my engine exhaust manifold leaks, nissan refuses to accept responsibility for it. They even refuse to admit that this nissan engine has a well known problem with this issue. Ask anyone that works in a car repair or exhaust repair shop. This is a big problem with all nissan 3.0 l engines, including mine. It is a very expensive, time consuming repair and often needs to be done more than once during ownership.

Within 60,000 miles exhaust manifold studs crack, causing exhaust fumes to escape, and eventually cause damages toengine.

Exhaust manifold bolts break, nissan service bulletin (tsb 940414/94) states improved materials are needed. Cost to repair is nearly $1,000 because the manifolds will have to be replaced due to warpage. Nissan will not cover defect, i'm not sure i can afford it and the cabin fills with exhaust gasses. Nissan claims they have not seen this as a problem and yet they have a service bulletin stting the studs need to be made from improved materials.

I have a 1995 nissan pickup that i just purchased from my sister-in-law, the original owner. It has chonic problems with the brake lights not working. The metal light socket barrel will separate from the plastic socket that holds the lamp in the lens assembly. My nephew who drove the truck on numerous occasions had to reinsert them in order so they would work. This problem i learned was common with this nissan pickup had resulted in a safety recall (#98v-234) campaign by nissan. However i was informed that my pickup did not qualify for this recall due to the vin number not being within the applicable range. Even so my truck has this problem and i feel it should be repaired. The recall should not be limited to certain vin numbers if there are other vehicles exibiting this problem. If nisan will not fix it they could at least provide me with the parts to do it myself.

Brakes light socketon driver's sidemalfuntioned, stopped working withoutprior warning, and the metal separated from the plastic.

Consumer found out that rear brake lights were not working. Then, received a recall notice.nissan manufacturer was not repairing, and consumer had been fined because of the repair.

Rear fog light needed due to poor visibility. *sd

Same as nhtsa compain number 98v234000.nissan of brandon acknwleged there was a recall, but there was nothing they could do for me since my vin was not included in the recall.i was instructed to call 1-800-nissan1.after some runaround, i was told there was nothing nissan could do since my vin number was not included in the original recall.they did not seem interested that the safety problem identified in nhtsa compain number 98v234000 may be affecting more vehicles than originally thought.

I have replaced the lamp several times. In addition, i have received 2 warnings about the tail light being out. The local garage sais that it seems to be either a bad lamp socket or wiring problem.

Rear tail light harness failed, recall notice sent after repair, however not illuminating properly after repair work completed.

The consumer has received a recall letter for light bulb socket.when the consumer called to get vehicle serviced under the recall, no parts were available.recall number 98v234000.

I was never notified of the recall from nissan.i discovered the recall on my own.i took my truck to the dealer and was told that my vin number was not included in the recall, which was only a number off.i contact nissan and after many attempts with no return call and being told one time that i would be granted financial assistance to fix the tail light harness and after being directed to several nissan specialist i was told that nissan would not cover my problem being the tail light harness, exactly that of their recall, and that of a safety issue.

While driving tail lights failed.recall 98v234000. Was issued.however, dealershipswould not repairthe tail lights because the vin was not included.

My 95 nissan pickup has the exact problem (tail light failure due to no contact in the socket) described in nhtsa recall 98v234000. However, the vin does not fall into nissan's range of affected vin's.

While driving 60 mph vehicle stalled.driver was not able to restart vehicle, and it was towed to a garage for inspection.mechanic determinedthat the fuel sending unit needed to be replaced. The wires on top of the fuel sending unit go into molded plastic. The wires and plastic separatedcausing the wires to contact, then no contact, this caused the fuse to blow.

The entire undercarriage and frame is rusted out. I have had to replace the gasoline lines, the brake lines and the power steering lines. The frame is totally rusted out and can not pass inspection. Every component under the vehicle is dangerously rusted and frail. Both front and rear bumpers are also falling off. Also everything in the front of the vehicle is disintegrating. I have callednumerous agencies, including nissan, both dealerships and their headquarters, inquiring about recalls due to the rusted out frame issues and get nowhere. They deny any problem exists. I understand that toyota has acknowledged a similar issue and has taken extreme actions to buy back or repair the affected vehicles.

Took vehicle to dealer for an oil change and the tires in front were bald; so dealer replaced the tires with new tires.this was when the vehicle was at 8000 miles. Noticed that at 15000 miles the new replacement tires had start wearing out, and the dealerr said that they will not fix them this time. Consumer wants to know why his tires are wearing out so fast at low mileage.the alignment has been adjusted severla times but the tires continue to wear prematurely (not tire info was given),the front end sticks/locks up when making full turns in 4 wheel drive, the fuel economy is low, the ashtray falls out of the dashboard, the truck slides sideways when stopping on icy roads, the speedometer failed. *nlm

The dealer replaced the fuel tank as a free remedy. The failure mileage was 70,000 . The current mileage was 105,000.updated 05/12/10

The vehicle was leaking gas from the gauge assembly. As soon as the ignition was turned on the vehicle would pump gas out of the vehicle. Repair shop has fixed.

While driving at 65 mph on the hwy the hood of the vehicle just flipped up.this caused the windshield to be smashed and the hood to be bent out of shape.this also caused the wind shield wipers to be destroyed.there were no injuries involved in this incident.the manufacturer and the dealer have been notified of the problem. *nlm

Emergency brake cable seized, causing damage to brake components.

Around 35 mph, the speedometer's needle moves from 0 to 100 mph until it gets to about 40 mph.while it is moving, it makes a strange noise. Also, the needle sometimes moves over to 100 mph and stays for a few seconds, no matter the speed of the truck.it is difficult to determine the speed the vehicle is traveling.

Speedometer is temperamental, sticks at zero or 35 mph, remains at this level.could cause crash. Dealer replaced speedometer, problem reoccurred. Dealer could not duplicate problem.

I was making a slow turn, and heard a loud `thunk'.after the turn, i accelerated slowly, not knowing what had happend, and when above 15 mph., the vehicle shuddered violently, apparently because there was no longer any connection between the front wheels.we tried to make a u-turn just up the road, and the front wheels were pointing in opposite directions!the repair facility which we were towed to said the tie rods became unscrewed, rather than breaking, and they'd never seen that happen before.had we been going at any speed when it happened, the vehicle might easily have flipped over, and we could have been killed.i wrote to nissan in march, when we returned home, but have had no reply to date.

My 1995 nissan pickup truck with only 28,000 miles has serious frame rust. Truck looks brand new and has been meticulously cared for but body shop and mechanic have said rust is too severe to repair. I am the original owner.

Rusted frame on 1995 nissan pickup kingcab, 4x4a safety hazard.no way it should be that bad.mechanic says not worth putting money into it given the frame.bought the car from my brother when it had 30k or so miles.on-road miles only.a real safety issue.

Areas of discoloration appeared on top and hood of truck (6000 miles).

The entire frame of the 1995 nissan hardbody pickup is rusting apart, this is the second truck of this type ive owned and have had this problem. It is no longer deemed safe by mechanics to meet n.c.d.m.v. Inspection standards . The problem isfrom the same as the nissan frontier trucks recalled, coil rolled frame and no drainage for water, mud, salt etc on the bottom of the frame. The vehicle is a total loss x2 since this is the second nissan i have owned. Thanks.

This vehicle has been a one owner truck.i have carefully maintained and have not been able to stop a serious frame rust problem.i have contacted my local dealer and corporate usa nissan.nissan has refused to address my repeated requests for assistance with this matter.i can not be certain at what point the truck becomes unsafe to operate.nissan needs to address this issue asap to prevent any safety problems with this vehicle as other manufactures have in the past.

Although this has not lead to an accident yet, the frame on my 1995 nissan pickup truck is rusting so bad it appears to be rotting. I concerned about driving it, but scared to see what would happen if i was in an accident.i know toyota has bought back there older pickups and i think nissan should do something other then turn their cheek.

Underside and frame are rusting and causing brake problems, both front and rear chrome bumpers have rusted through and exhaust system hangers rusted through and fell off.nlm

I bought a 95, 4x4 nissan pickup in 2006.i took it to the local nissan dealer, armory nissan in albany, new york for a diagnostic workup.they said everything was alright, so i bought it.2 years later, with only 70 some odd thousand miles on it, i cannot get the vehicle inspected because the frame is so rusted out it is dangerous to drive. ( i took it to my local neighborhood garage) i called nissan consumer affairs and my statement was taken.they told me to go to the nearest nissan dealer and get a diagnostic and send the report to nissan consumer affairs.i had to pay for the diagnostic - $46.00. I had to arrange to have the truck towed from the neighborhood garage to nissan armory.i told them this time that if the frame came diagnosed as "ok"i was going to ask them to inspect it and put a sticker on it (it is due for inspection next month).diag. Came back - frame totally rusted, truck not fit to drive.so, icalled back consumer affairs, who told me -- sorry, you lose, in so many words, nothing we can do for you.my question to them was, if you knew you weren't going to assist me, why didyou have me tow the vehicle and pay for a diagnostic?they just said, more or less, too bad for you. Now let's compare to toyota, who had rust problems also with pickup trucks.they reached out totheir customers and offered some solutions while nissan just incurs more expense for the customer. The problems were the same -- inferior material used in frames.but at least toyota addressed the problem. Carsurvery.org had many complaints from nissan owners with rusted frame problems and some noted dangerous experiences on highways with breakdowns and accidents. Nissan refuses to admit and take responsibility whereastoyota has admitted and has tried to remedy problems with customer.nissan should also have the vehicle towed back to my home so i don't have to drive it and be a danger on the road.

Severe frame rust which weakens the structure. Required weldingseveral pieces of steel plate to the frame to strengthen the rusted areas. The problem continues at other areas of the frame as chunks of rusted metal continue to separate from the inside of the frame rails.

Frame is all rotted out and is breaking in half.

Frame rusted badly and rotted through at rear leaf spring forward mount, rear cab mount and front bed mount.

Frame rails on 1995 nissan pickup rusting out from interior.researching web for solutions indicate a large number of people with similar problems.while it is an old truck with high miles, it appears to me that a defect in design, finishing, or materials makes this a safety issue for those pickups (and pathfinders) on theroad today.

Extensive rusted frame.

Underside and frame are rusting and causing brake problems, both front and rear chrome bumpers have rusted through and exhaust system hangers rusted through and fell off.nlm

The frame on the driver's side broke, approximately (6) to (10) inches in front of the left rear tire. Please describe details.

Frame rust on a 1995 nissan truck--have tried to have the frame repaired but rust damage is too much.repair shop said truck is not safe to drive.

Frame of the truck is rusted out very badly. This is a known issue, vehicle unsafe to drive. No notifications of the common defect. Other owners and drivers of the vehicles of same make and model needs to made aware of the problem. Also, these trucks should be recalled.

I currently own a 1995 nissan pick up truck that has severe frame rust beyond what would be considered normal.it is to the point that it is a safety concern.i had contacted nissan and was told that there was nothing that they would be willing to do.after researching the problem it appears to be a design issue on nissans part and they are not willing to own up to it.i can send you photo documentation of the frame to prove that it is not regular wear and tear on the vehicle.i took the vehicle to a mechanic last week and the truck was deemed unsafe and dangerous because of the amount of frame rust.

I see that you are investigating the frames on the infiniti qx and nissan pathfinders. The nissan hardbody trucks also suffer the same frame problems as the aforementioned vehicles. Here is a link that will show you that frame failure is also common in the hardbody trucks.http://www.carsurvey.org/reviews/nissan/pathfinder/r78984/comments/page-13/there are many hardbody owners on there asking for a remedy as well. My frame on my 95 is rusted and cracking as well right behind the passenger side front suspension. Its only a matter of time before the frame gives way and causes a crash on my truck and several others. Nissan motor corp needs to take responsibility and get these trucks off the roads.

The contact owns a 1995 nissan pickup. The contact stated that the vehicle was being examined by an independent mechanic, when the mechanic noticed small holes throughout the entire frame. The mechanic patched up all the holes, but the vehicle would not pass inspection after the repairs. The vehicle was then taken to a frame specialist, who replated the frame with steel. The vehicle again would not pass inspection because the cross member was corroded. The manufacture was made aware of the failure and stated that the warranty expired. The vehicle was not again repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 117,000.

The frame of my truck is rotting through. It started with the area over the back wheels, the garage refused to give me a state inspection until i had it repaired. I had metal patches welded over the defective areas on both sides of my vehicle. Now a year later the frame has split in both sides of the truck behind the front wheels. I contacted nissan corporate office as well as the local nissan dealership to no avail. They said this was due to environmental conditions.
