1) check air bag light was flashing a month after i purchased the vehicle and it was repaired. The light is back on almost a year later and has continued to flash on and off.2) tire pressure light continues to go on and off and i replaced and aligned my tires and still it continues.3) when putting gas in my tank the gauge is never all the way to the top and yet the pump will not allow me to input more gas. Also the gas is not lasting the amount of mile it should, and the reading does not seem accurate.

Was hit head on by a drunk driver and both airbags did not deflate all the way. The drivers airbag gave my mom a broken rib and broke vertebrae in her neck. Passengers side fractured my wrists. The seatbelt on passengers side almost cut me in half cause of locking up. Have sever whiplash and bruising. Prior to this airbag light was blinking on passengers side saying not enough weight was on it when it was. Cube was destroyed in wreck. The seatbelt always locked up on passenger side and almost broke my neck.

Blinking light on dash, air bag warning light. Air bag control unit malfunction, must be replaced and also possibly the air bag on the steering wheel. This should be covered under the warranty.

Airbag warning light flashing. Multiple repair attempts by local nissan dealer unsuccessful. Airbags will not function when light flashes. Safety hazard!

The antitheft lock malfunctioned. Now the car wont start.

The electronic steering control lock malfunctioned causing me to be unable to start my vehicle. The vehicle was stationary in my driveway at the time.there were no movements or sounds coming from the car when i tried to start it.only the security indicator light and the key light were on in the dash. No response from the car when we attempted to jumpstart it.this essentially left me completely stranded and with living out in the country was very difficult and expensive to get the vehicle towed into the nissan dealership.i did research and found that lots of other 2009 cube owners have had this problem and just like me many have previously had theirs "fixed" only to have the part malfunction again and have to pay for it out of pocket.this is no cheap fix and i had no choice but to spend money i can't afford to spend in order to have a working vehicle.this issue needs to be addressed and taken care of by nissan as it could lead to some really dangerous situations.i am almost always out camping in relatively unpopulated wilderness areas, typically without cell service and if this had happened then i have no idea what i would have done.i really hope they step up to the plate and issue a recall/refund for the problem just like they did for the altima issues.

Vehicle was parked in a downtown parking garage while my wife was at work. She came out of work after dark, with no access back into a banking building, and the car would not start. After calling me and trying a couple things, we called our roadside assistance and i got in my car to drive 45 minutes there. My wife had to wait in the locked car, alone, until myself and the tow truck arrived. This was an unsafe situation. We had it towed to a dealer and found out the next day that the escl (electronic steering control lock) had failed, which prevents the car from starting. After spending $650 to have it repaired, i did some investigation and found that this is a very common problem not just on the nissan cube, but with altimas, maximas, 370z and infiniti vehicles. After our repair, nissan had extended the warranty on the part, but we were past the mileage and they would not reimburse us. They still have an open service campaign for the altimas and maximas, but not the cube or other affected vehicles. This is a sever safety concern. My wife was alone in a dark parking ramp for almost an hour in the inner city. Imagine if this happened to others after nissan has acknowledged it as a problem, and someone gets mugged or killed while in an unsafe area and cant get their car started. Nissan should issue a 100% recall on all affected vehicles and provide reimbursement for owners who have already paid for the repair.

The electronic steering wheel lock failed car wont start .the part was replaced in july 2011 on a recall the new part failed in june 2014 nissan would not replace a 2ed time under recall, with much begging they paid for part i paid for labor.this left my wife stranded in a less than ideal spot nissan extended the warranty on this same part on 2009 nissan altima but not on cube.

Went to start car would not do anything. Ignition. Like it lost key reading. But steering wheel lock was causing it not to start.

Engine will not start after turning off.car cannot be moved because shifter will not come out of park and vehicle will not move.steering column;

The steering lock has failed, and the start button no longer works on the vehicle because the "plunger" has failed within the steering electrical box.

The vehicle would not start after it was working properly, but once parked and off tried to turn the vehicle on and it would not start. It is a problem with the escl which was part of the manufacturing irregularity, which was confirmed by nissan dealership service center, and will not fix under warranty.

I bought my nissan cube in 2010 (used with about 23,000 miles). I have been having trouble with the air condition making a fan noise, slowing down, going faster then cutting off. The dealer said it was normal bor the a/c to do that, but now i believe it is really going to die out. I have also been having trouble with my cube where you press on the gas and the car is going anywhere, then in a couple of seconds the tires kind of stutter along and i'm on my way. This happens alot. I bought new tires because i thought that this was what was wrong with it, but it still does it.i also have that stupid tire light coming on a lot and then my new tires are deflating for no reason. Took it back to the tire shop where the checked all the pressures in my tires, 1 was very low and turned off light on my dash. This vehicle is too wide, scares the heck out of me when i have to turn left or right only because the windshield is too wide and you have to scoot way up or way back to make sure when you turn that you can see where you are going. You no matter how many times i told the guy at nissan what was wrong, they could never find anything wrong with the vehicle. Now i have had it three years and all the problems are worse. I think this car was jinx when i brought, and i wasn't even the vehicle i wanted to buy, but the salesperson and financial person kept pushing for me to get this vehicle, and as a single mom and a person that needed a vehicle very badly, i took the bait and bought the car. I'm looking for something better now and i hope i don't get ripped off again.

Electronic steering column lock (escl) failed, the car was totally immobilized, was not responding to keyless start, steering wheel was locked.this happened when the car was parked.the problem with escl lock is known to nissan, it issued a recall and extended warranty for the part for other car models.i'm worrying whether this can happen while car is moving.

Car failed in a remote area would not restart after stopping, towed to local nissan dealership and they stated that it was the electronic steering control lock complete failure and stops vehicle from starting.wife suffered from heat exposure directly related to situation, this part was recalled and i had the recall repaired.if a basic search on this you will find that this is a common and expensive problem that nissan ended up discontinuing thispart on later cars. But this failure is a serious problem.

Performance recall p1225. Car continues to face same recall problem.

Back door handle fails to unlock no key access to open or fix...known problem for these cars.tps sensors malfunction

On two separate occasions, within a 7 day period, after a short drive in cold weather, and then parked for 1/2 hour period, the ignition would not respond (i.e. Start) when key would be turned to start position.the car had to be towed to service facility, where no common problem could be found, and ignition operated as expected. This is the same situation as reported on nhtsa reference #10040035, nissan tsb #ntb-11-057 for this make, model, year, with the sole exception this car has a intelligent key ignition, as opposed to push button ignition for the cars covered underthe nissan tsb.in call to nissan concerning the problem, the local dealership acknowledged the tsb, but stated that it only concerned models with the push button start.

Car would not start. Electronic steering column lock.

Blinking light on dash, air bag warning light. Air bag control unit malfunction, must be replaced and also possibly the air bag on the steering wheel. This should be covered under the warranty.

The transmission range switch (commonly referred to as a neutral safety switch) will sometimes fail to make proper electrical contact. This condition results in two of three conditions. One condition is a failure of the prndl indicator on the dashboard (as opposed to the prndl indicator at the shifter control) to illuminate. The next two conditions are much less benign; they can be much more frustrating or dangerous. The very frustrating condition is: because the switch fails to indicate the shifter is in park or neutral, the engine cannot be started. The very dangerous condition is: if before the switch fails to maintain proper contact the engine has already been started, then the idling engine (as usual) is sufficient to get the vehicle into an intersection; however, the engine will delay acceleration by quite a few seconds, regardless of the accelerator's position, as the driver attempts to get through the intersection.my recommendation for an efficient recall is to recommend nissan develop redundancy into this switch. Nissan could easily redesign this switch to double (or even triple) then switch's sliding contacts. Doing so would allow the multiple, identical "poles" and "throws" to be connected parallel to each other before they are electrically routed toward the eight-pin connector. This redundancy would easily, quickly, efficiently, and certainly reduce this infrequent but very problematic condition to an issue which ought (statistically) become so infrequent it's no longer a concern.the transmission range switch is nissan part number: switch assy 20150227 31918-1xcod and is very likely used on more vehicles than just the cube models.

My 2009 nissan cube had a recall for the manufacturing defects associated with the electrical steering column lock (escl).it went out in january 2020 and the nissan dealer wants 832.00 to repair what is a nissan manufacturing defect.investigating this it was found that in january 2012, just before the car was purchased from the nissan dealer, the escl recall was fixed at the murfreesboro dealership.as i wasnt the owner at the time i do not have paperwork to show this, only the word from the dealer.the escl is obviously still a problem but the dealership said since it was fixed once that met the recall criteria and i have to pay for the manufacturers defective escl.the red light with the key came on when it was parked at a store and wouldn't move so it was towed to the nissan dealer.they have stated the part is 579.93 and the labor will be 312.50.nissan consumer hotline was contacted and they said that it was repaired but wouldn't give me a date/place so i called the dealership i bought it from to get this information. They are the ones who stated it was done in january 2012 when it was in their possession to sell on the lot.since it is a documented manufacturers warranty and the dealership supposedly did the work while the car was for sale on their lot (meaning we have to trust they actually did the expensive repair), when the problem still exists why is it not being covered? this is a well documented problem throughout the internet of nissan 2009 cube owners who to this day are having problems with the escl and the extremely expensive repair bills that go with it.

Car will not start.sitting on a residential street.electronic steering control lock defect.

The contact owns a 2009 nissan cube.while driving at an unknown speed, the contact activated the windshield wipers and the instrument panel went completely black.suddenly, the instrument panel lights illuminated again.when the wipers were deactivated, the lights would dim again.the dealer did not diagnose the vehicle, but stated that they would call the manufacturer for guidance.the contact filed a complaint with the manufacturer.the current mileage was approximately 330 and failure mileage was approximately 280.

The contact owns a 2009 nissan cube. The contact stated that the vehicle had difficulty starting. The contact had to lock the steering wheel in order for the engine to start. In addition, the key fob had to be visible to start the vehicle properly. There were no warning indicators illuminated. The vehicle remained parked at the contact's home. The dealer was not contacted. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and refused to assist the contact. The failure mileage was unknown.

Same issue as the owners in this thread with regards to the escl. Went to start my car as a snow storm was starting and no luck. My local nissan dealership said it was an issue with the escl and that there was no recall on the cube. However, my partner owns a 2009 altima and had the same issue a month ago and got it fixed at no cost. The fact that numerous 09 cube owners are experiencing this issue around the same time with no offer to recall or reimburse us is ridiculous. I have emailed customer service with screen shots of everyone's complaint and reached out to nissan via twitter. They have responded and are looking into the issue now. Fingers crossed they do something for us

My wife's 2009 nissan cube has had intermittent issues with the vehicle shutting off. It has happened a few times in rush hour traffic on the highway to and from work and most recently in a parking lot (luckily) it locked up completely. Most times she describes it like it is stalling, where she is able to move off to the side of the road and is able to restart the car after a minute or two. A few times however after coming to a complete stop, everything locked up. Car wouldn't start, steering wheel locked, brake pedal wouldn't even budge. After a minute, it started right back up. When we took it to the dealer, they could find nothing wrong and just ended up costing us "diagnostic fees". Reading through other complaints on here about this same exact issue, i find it hard to believe that nissan is not aware of something of this magnitude. Searching the web returns no type of help whatsoever. How are we supposed to just accept a vehicle that randomly shuts off, the results of which could be fatal? there has to be something that can be done.

The cube will frequently stop while driving at any speed. It is possible to pump the accelerator at the moment this happens and sometimes the engine will catch and carry on. If this does not work, the car must be shut down for a few minutes before attempting a restart. Unfortunately once this situation happens, it will very likely recur soon after. It is my observation that this happens most often when the ambient temperature is quite high (75 f and above). On cool days the situation is not likely to happen unless the car is driven over an hour in duration. As another observation it is more likely to happen if the gas gauge is less thanfull.i tried to reproduce the problem twice for maus nissan but it did not occur. There was a engine service light on during both those attempts indicating a catalytic converter error.since that time (early 2018) the problem has happened many times without any service engine warning being on. The first time the problem occurred, i took the car into nissan in chattanooga. They said there was a little too much transmission fluid. They removed some and i continued on the florida. Within 10 minutes the problem occurred again. While in florida, we limit driving to early mornings and evenings for less than 30 minutes and we maintain the gas tank on full.

Vehicle stopped while in motion on highway. Transmission went completely out.

I have a 2009 nissan cube.the cube was at the dealership for maintaince.i was informed that the cube has a exhaust leak, was told it is not covered under the emission warranty. I asked more questions about the issue, an was told by the dealership that it is a rust issue and not covered.i was told that they do not have the part.i again asked about the emission warranty, was told it did not apply.according to the warranty which is cover up to 80k miles for emission issues, but because of "rust" it is not covered.i do not agree with this and i call the 1 800 number and reported it. Today the next day i was contacted and persson said, or agreed with the dealership. I looked up complaints and recalls, there are several complaints.there is one in which it referrs to a "corroded" part. What is the difference between a part that is "corroded" part that may fail and a part that has rust and broken causing a exhaust leek.they nissan and the dealership are using a play on words to avoid making the repairs under the emission warranty.i was told it is okay to drive and polute the enviroment since they will not cover it and they did not have the parts.after speaking with the rep from nissan he had a whole lot more info about the repair than was listed on my copy of the repair order.there are four major componets of a exhaust system on most cars.the manifold, the down pipe, the mid pipe and the muffler. The "corroded part" or rust caused one the conection to leek.now i am being told that 2 parts need to be replaced and the cost is over 1k, which i have no infor on my invoice or repair order about.the only recomendation was 'ehaust leak 395.00"i know that dealships replace parts that have rust and or are corroded because i work for one, frames and rusted bolts. How can one replace parts and the other not.

Inner fender fell off in parking lot and was run over. This could have been devasting at highway speeds and could have been a hazard for other drivers. Also the bottom cover came loose and was dragging on the ground.

Similar to nhtsa id number:10717816 and other complaints seen online.exhaust system coming apart at the flange heat from the broken exhaust had melted the back bumper also, the heat shield separating the exhaust from the fuel tank appears to not cover the area of the common separation. Nissan dealer saw this occur on my car, did not take any responsibility of their faulty flange or carburetor.it was in warranty at that time and they should have fixed it.very dishonorable practice to have a faulty flange create issues signaling carburetor replacement and car bumper melted as a result from it.i believe an extended warranty should take place to fix this potential road of cube catching fire hazard, although it is only plastic.

This car since purchase has had the transmission replaced four times.when the transmission fails the car coasts to a stop which on the highway is a danger as the car is susceptible to be hit by other cars.in addition when the transmission fails the engine stops and the braking system is rendered inoperable the only way to stop the car is via the emergency break.the transmission failure in these cars is a known problem as nisan has extended the warranty t ten years.when the transmission failed on my son he was on the highway and barely made it to the breakdown lane without getting hit.this is a serious safety issue due to the fact if the disabled car is hit it could cause fatalities due to the failure of the systems.

Excessive and accelerated exhaust system corrosion.muffler mounting to exhaust pipe rusted completely through and fell apart.heat shield mounting brackets rusted through causing heat shield to separate from vehicle. Exhaust fumes entering driving compartment and dangerous to occupants.

I put my car into drive and than put my foot on the gas and nothing happened.i looked down and i was in "d"after a few seconds i shifted into low and nothing happened.after a few seconds the car took off.i was so scared. I slammed on the brakes.i tried again, i put the car into drive and sat there, than it inched alongand than took off again like i was on a roller coaster.luckily i was a block from the dealer. So i drove it there on a wing and a prayer.it took me at least 10 mins. I had to make a turn and other drivers were going around me. Because my car wasn't moving.all of a sudden it took off and i almost broadsided a car.you can imagine the suggestions i got.the dealer had it for 2 days and said they can't find anything wrong with.i'm going to bring it to another mechanic and see if he can find whats wrong.

Muffler weld separated (no rust or external damage) at the mid pipe causing muffler to tilt and start to melt the rear bumper cover mounts and bumper cover.muffler then separated completely causing loud noise and possible exhaust gas to enter cabin.contacted nissan and was told there was no issue and nissan would not do anything to correct or help with cost

The contact owns a 2009 nissan cube. While making a left turn, the vehicle started to jerk and failed to accelerate. Also, the check engine warning indicator illuminated. The contact coasted the vehicle over to the side of the road. When the accelerator pedal was depressed, the vehicle was able to drive normally. The vehicle was taken to metro nissan of montclair (located at 9440 autoplex st, montclair, ca 91763), but was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 132,000.

Personal research was done on the internet to find how this happened on other nissans, the versa, the altima, and now the cube. Unfortunately, this can cause a wreck because the parts can fall onto the road from a speeding car, and hit another car on the highway.the issue is with the weld, and the bead of the factory muffler beingconnected to the exhaust pipe by a flange it is welded to.the flange becomes unwelded to the pipe by either rust perforation through salt on the road in snow areas, by a cheap weld, or insufficient bracing of the exhaust system components. It has been read that nissan canada fixes these free based on a good will effort to keep customers.however, it is unseen and unknown if this problem will be addressed by any recall in the usa.a simple fix could be applied if it is due to rust perforation, put a seal over the flange to keep salt out.or make it a one pipe system.or brace it more sufficiently so that it doesn't fall apart so easily as the pressure and weight of the exhaust pipe system is supported.therefore, this seems like it should be addressed and owners should be notified so that the driver doesn't cause an unnecessary wreck in the snow, or other normal operation as the pipe could fall off.in summary, the weld of the muffler to the exhaust pipe flange breaks apart too easily as previously known in versa and now the cube.

Monday, july 8, 2013 i as driving home 95n interstate from north carolina with the a/c and cruise control on. The car immediately start slowing down at the of speed 65 mph. I immediately moved to the right lane for exit. The car shut down and would not start. I was in fredericksburg, va heading to my home in new carrollton, md. I had to call aaa to tow me (home) to my dealership of services passport nissan in marlow heights. I have documentation for this call.the nissan service department stated they could not find anything wrong with the car after keeping it for day (have receipts for rental car). I explained in detail with great frustration, fear and concern what happen. I was alone this happen at night (dark on the highway). It happen again within a week of that call for service (three separate incidents) department i needed to get the car them immediately when it happen. If the car shutdown and must be towed that is impossible to get there when it occur. I called nissan regional office and marlow heights managers to get "no help or satisfaction". At the time of this shutdown my car was still under nissan's warranty. I am still riding with no a/c today. It is scary to ride a car that cost me thousands of dollars with no a/c and not knowing what the problem is. Please help and provide me some guidance. I want my car repaired. Thank you for your assistance and advice. Riding with no a/c still one year later.

The vehicle was brought into 2 different nissan dealerships for repair of an a/c leak. On neither occasion was the leak fixed. However, we were charged > $360 essentially for freon. What recourse do i have?txs

Exhaust system from the resonator back needs full replacement as corrosion has eaten away muffler mounting to the point it is not longer connected. Exhaust is not making it out of the rear of the car, indicating its entering the cabin, causing a danger to occupants.

Muffler connecting flange and pipe rusted through. Muffler dragging ground. Nissan offered no explanation or assistance.

The head light lenses on ournew nissan cube were hazed over on both sides of the car. I took it back to the dealer and they were replaced at no cost. The issue is that the replacement head lights are worse than the ones replaced. When we picked up our car i checked the lights and they are worse than the ones that were replaced. The next day i called nissan and made them aware of this issue. Several days later i was informed that were no recall issues and that they would not replace or correct this issue. On my first call to nissan i was informed that there were 3 recall issues on this vehicle and that my dealer should have informed me of these when i had my first service done. That never happened. So when i contacted the dealer their service manager informed that there were indeed 3 recalls & they had not told me as they were waiting on replacement parts. These lights are only going to get worse and will effect the ability of them to meet government standards. In the pasti was a stock holder & v.p. Of operations in a lighting manufacturing company that manufactured head lights, tail, lights & interior lighting and have an understanding of these issues and realize that this issue needs to be addressed.

I have a 2009 nissan cube which had a serious problem and i took it in for repair.it turned out to be a malfunctioning brake lamp switch which caused the vehicle not to start.when i researched this problem i found out that it also it causes the failure of illumination of the rear brake lights; which can caused a very serious accident if rear ended.

While driving the 09 nissan cube at 75 mph on a highway the vehicle experienced sudden deceleration and turned itself off in the midst of heavy semi truck traffic.had the vehicle towed to the local dealership who could not replicate the problem.car returned to the owner and after approximentally forty more miles of driving the problem occured again three more times before the owner was able to locate a cell signal and be towed over 150 miles to the next closest dealership.that dealership was unable to determine what had happened and the vehicle is now in the process of being shipped back to the owners home state.the total lack of acceleration while at highway speeds has put the owner and his family in four seriously dangerous and life threatening breakdowns on major highways and the owner has hadno help from nissan in determining how and why this happens.everything from "your car is not use to being in the desert, to it is a mysterious drive by wire issue, to maybe your fuel pump is shot, and you need to use a higher octane fuel has been thrown out.the owner and spouse will not drive this vehicle until there is a solution due the very real possibilty they may be killed if they lose acceleration again.

Vehicle stopped while in motion on highway. Transmission went completely out.

The common problem of the exhaust system coming apart at the flange happened to my car. I was on a road trip from nashville, tn to pittsburgh, pa when the issue presented. I was told that it would not be dangerous to continue home with the issue and that it would just be very loud.when i got home i found that the heat from the broken exhaust had melted the back bumper leaving it stringing out. Also, the heat shield separating the exhaust from the fuel tank appears to not cover the area of the common separation. This makes me feel it was a very dangerous issue for the road trip and i believe nissan should remember the issue since it is not an isolated occurrence but rather something that affects most cube owners.

The contact owns a 2009 nissan cube. While driving at 15 mph, the doors locked and the contact was unable to get out of the vehicle. The contact called the manufacturer who stated that the doors locking was a safety feature. The contact did not feel safe with the feature. The failure mileage was 6. The current mileage was approximately 2,500.updated 6/17/10 the consumer stated he can not open the door unless he locates the small button to release the lock. Updated 06/21/10

The contact owns a 2009 nissan cube. While attempting to utilize the rear hatch, the door would not unlock. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 75,000.

The contact owns a 2009 nissan cube. The contact was traveling 5 mph when the vehicle failed to accelerate properly and the then abnormally accelerated after the pedal was not being depressed. The vehicle was taken to the dealer three times and serviced for unintended acceleration issues by replacing the transmission. The contact had not driven the vehicle since the time of repairs and was unaware if the failure had been remedied.the manufacturer was contacted. The failure mileage was 5,907 and the current mileage was 31,890.

Vehicle stopped while in motion on highway. Transmission went completely out.

We left sears and proceeded to pull out of parking spot. Stepped on gas pedal and rpm went to over 5 grand. Vehicle moved by drifting. After rpms dropped vehicle started to move but not very well. Vehicle showed signs of transmission not engaging. The transmission is a cvt type automatic. After severalattempts decided to shut car off and re-start. Hoping this method would allow for ecm to re-boot. No such luck.car carried on for several miles.dangerous part of journey was at red lights and intersection. Was hoping that we would not be rear-ended by someone in hurry. Called nissan dealer, other one than dealer i originally bought the car from,to see if i could get car in to shop. Described incident and this dealer gave us a slot for 9:00am next day. Dealer checked car. Could not duplicate problem but checked car's computer. 3 codes were stored indicating transmission part failure. Dealer ordered transmission and had it delivered in 2 days.dealer currently has car in shop and was getting started removing trans. Will have car back, hopefully the followingday. Please be advised that the dealer performing service is another nissan dealer and not the one i bought car from.this is also the 3rd dealer i have used for other problems.this dealer is very respectful of it's customer and bends over backwards to help. I have had problems with fuel gauge not showing full tank when filled. This happened around 12k miles. I tried a dealer closer to us. He took the car in to check it out, even though he did not have the part in stock to repair vehicle. Took 3 weeks to get car in and another 3 weeks to get it back in for the repair. After taking it in for the repair they did not have us on the schedule and had lost the part. After calling nissan of america this "bad"dealer repaired the car. This dealer was worse than 1st dealer.

I am the 2nd owner of this car. I purchased this vehicle april of 2016. The only light that has been on has been the tpm light. On july 3rd,2016 , i was driving on the highway with my children when the car suddenly stalled. It completely stopped driving no matter how hard i would push on the gas. When i had to vehicle inspected, it was the transmission that had failed. According to the dealership, there was an extended warrenty on this cvt transmission because of problems it was having. There was no light on or anything to show that there had been an issue with this transmission, it just suddenly stopped working as i was driving. I contacted nissan directly and they told me there was nothing they can do because it was out of warranty. I feel this is unsafe because people do drive with their children in the vehicle. This could have caused a bad collision on the highway when it suddenly just stopped. In the same incident, the back door suddenly will not open.

I was trying to back out of my driveway and the car just stalled when i depressed the gas pedal. The vehicle hesitated and then suddenly accelerated. This condition was repeated several time while just driving around town in normal traffic. It is a safety hazard. If i were in the middle of an intersection and had to accelerate to avoid a crash, this type of issue could lead to disaster. This seems to be a problem that has been widely reported on the internet without any concern by nissan.

The contact owns a 2009 nissan cube. While driving 3 mph, the transmission failed. The vehicle started out fine and then felt as if it were placed in the neutral gear. The contact was depressing the accelerator pedal with no response. The vehicle was not diagnosed. The manufacturer had not been notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 79,000.

The contact owns a 2009 nissan cube. While driving approximately 20 mph, the vehicle would no longer accelerate. The vehicle was towed to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the transmission was faulty and needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The vehicle was repaired; however, the failure recurred. The vehicle was towed to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the transmission was faulty and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 26,000. Updated 04/07/16*ljthe consumer stated the transmission failed twice. The manufacturer refused any additional assistance after the second failure. The transmission was replaced.

While driving at 65 mph car looses power under acceleratin and then stalls when you get below 10 mph will start back up after sitting for about 5 minutes the car is a 6 speed manuel. No lights came on in the dash this has happened 3 times now

Takata recall: car was fine when i parked it when i got up the next morning, i crank it put it in reverse and the car would not move. Towed the car to the dealer and they are saying it's the clutch in the transmission. I can't see how it go out overnight sitting cart, i've own the car 1 year and 1 month just passed the warranty. Carmax maxcare will not cover it says it is a maintenance issue. I have no pictures or documentation at the moment the car is at a nissan dealer just sitting

On 07/20/2020 transmission began slipping. Vehicle vibrates and shutters in motion. Lack of power. At 124,000 miles. Unable to get to 50 mph. Vehicle also vibrates when stationary.

Came to a very sudden stop to avoid a collision. Vehicle would not accelerate after this. Episode lasted about 20 seconds and then functioned properly. Has happened at least 6 more times since first incident. Always seems to happen when exiting off interstate and coming to a stop. Vehicle starts into intersection and then accelerator seems unresponsive. When this is happening the car does not rev even though accelerator is pushed to the floor repeatedly. Episode will last approx. 15-30 seconds and then seems to return to normal. Very unnerving when facing oncoming traffic. The transmission has already been replaced one time at about 75k. Never performed this way until after dealership replaced the transmission.

Recently my nissan cube came up with an error code indicating a step motor malfunction. This is a component of the cvt transmission that tells the transmission how to operate. Without this critical component the vehicle does not behave properly. I have involved in a number of situations where the vehicle will suddenly stop at highway speeds or not accelerate after reducing speed causing an extreme hazard. Nissan is aware of these failing transmissions and did in fact increase the warranty coverage at one point. These are an extreme danger on the road!!!

I bought a 2009 nissan cube brand new in june 2010 that has been nothing but problems. To date the vehicle has had the following problems:1. Steering lock mechanism has failed twice2. Rotors had to be resurfaced 3 months after purchase3. Throttle chamber failed and had to be replaced4. Fan doesn't work during winter months rendering the heater useless5. Fuel filler tube replaced (recall)6. The exhaust has rotted and the result is it separating/breaking off from the muffler.hummel nissan in des moines wants $460 to repair the problem with the muffler. Tom at the dealer said he?s seen this problem with almost every vehicle minus the frontier. He said the way the exhaust is designed causes moisture to build up and rot the system out, and that i need to drive it more. I told him i don?t believe a vehicle with less than 50,000 miles should have to have the exhaust replaced, especially after having vehicles with 180,000 miles on them with no such trouble (not nissan). He then told me to take it to a local shop because it would be cheaper to fix.nissan customer care on facebook asked for my vin number so they ?could look into the issue,? and then replied back saying to work with the local dealer (hummel nissan).all in all they've been completely useless and unhelpful. Hummel nissan and nissan could care less about making sure their customers are happy/safe and continue to buy their vehicles.

When on the interstate after about two hours my vehicle will not accelerate. When i press the gas the rpm's go up but the vehicle does nothing. If i pull off the road for a few minutes it is fine for a little longer but will reoccurs in frequency depending on the temperature outside. My vehicle has a cvt transmission which has been replaced once in july/august of 2013. The new transmission has the same issue and i have taken it into the shop twice now is not fixed.

Was driving home with my husband from the grocery store. Pulled onto highway and car stopped accelerating. Pulled over and car would rev up but not go in drive or reverse. Car was towed back home and being traded in. It's 1,000 miles over the extended warranty. They should recall these knowing the cvt is bad.

Takata recall.my cube will not go anywhere, i put it in drive push gas and car will not roll.it won't drive in any of gears. Vehical drove my family last nite, we went on a trip, got to destination went to bed , woke up to leave and car will not go anywhere . Startedthe engine and put car into drive pushed accelerator and car will not roll. We are stuck in yosemite 150 miles from home.

Faulty transmission, discolored, broken. Needs to either be repaired or replaced.at 111,000 miles my car had trouble stopping. I almost got hit in the middle of the intersection. Have really bad whiplash and continue to see a chiropractor every 2 weeks.i have taken my nissan cube 2009111,000 miles to 3 mechanics. (nissan, meineke and pismo automotive) have documentation available upon request. Including nissan when they said that it would be $260 to diagnose i went to 2 other mechanics shortly after) ofwhich, i couldn't get a clear answer as to which was going on with my engine. The transmission cvt which i now know it is, because of your website, it was making all kinds of weird noises (engine revving). Jerking transmission, shifting (slamming and harsh while braking) have transmission leaks reported and reported that cvt was not only leaking, but blackened in color. (saw it yesterday while mechanic showed me inside of engine and cvt. When i press on gas pedal it would drop out of power and hesitates on acceleration. Taking the lemon to nissan again. It's currently at pismo automotive,as soon as mechanic puts the engine back together i will be towing my car (nissan said i had to tow it to them) but even then, getting the run around from nissan saying i have to pay but it will be covered. *dtconsumer stated brakes did not fully stop.

The brake pedal has progressively gone lower to the floor when applying the brakes. There is a spongy feel and only engages fully at the last moment almost to the floor. Stopping is at the last moment, the brake pedal has to be pumped to engage the brakes. The rotors, brake pads and shoes and new brake fluid has been replaced but the brake issue remains.

The contact owns a 2009 nissan cube. After the vehicle was refueled, the steering wheel seized without warning. In addition, the contact stated that the vehicle failed to start. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where it was diagnosed that the lock steering system needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 51,000.

The vehicle would not start after it was working properly, but once parked and off tried to turn the vehicle on and it would not start. It is a problem with the escl which was part of the manufacturing irregularity, which was confirmed by nissan dealership service center, and will not fix under warranty.

Escl (electric steering column lock) needs to repaired on my '09 cube. I shut my car off after driving it for 10 minutes and it would not start again.

Nissan issued a voluntary service campaign bulletin ntb11-057 on june 23, 2011.this notice acknowledges a manufacturing defect with the electronic steering column lock (escl) which renders the vehicle incapable of starting.i own a 2009 cube equipped with an escl which has malfunctioned.when the service technician proceeded to initiate a service comm to repair the defect as instructed in the bulletin produced by nissan when he entered my vin the voluntary service campaign was not noted on my vin record.i contacted nissan corporate office to determine why and they had nor record of this issue although it is clearly reported on nhtsa's website and the actual bulletin was obtained from nissan.a quick google search revealed several owners who utilized this bulletin to have their vehicles repaired.my car cannot start without this repair being completed.i would like to know if this bulletin is legitimate and why my vehicle fits the described affected vehicle but is not eligible to be repaired.

There is an issue with the electrical steering control lock (escl) that prevents the car from being able to start.

The steering lock column in my 2009 nissan cube failed, disabling the car from starting, and putting me in a safety risk as i was stuck in a location away from my home, and unable to start my vehicle. It was not a battery issue- the lights worked, i could unlock and lock the vehicle, but i could not start the car using my intelligent key.it was towed to a nissan dealership where i am being charged nearly $1,000 in parts and labor to replace a part that nissan has acknowledged is faulty. Despite an expired extended warranty that was placed on that part, nissan has no recall on the part and owners everywhere are experiencing the same issue.

The contact owns a 2009 nissan cube. The contact stated his daughter was stranded when the vehicle failed to start.the vehicle was towed to a dealer who diagnosed that the steering lock module needed to be replaced. I could not push start with my keys in my pocket like i used to. I do not have the car so i was unable to take a picture it is being fix i hope.

The intelligent key system warning light illuminated yellow and remained on while the engine was running and while the engine was stopped.i took my cube to the local nissan dealership where it was diagnosed that the electrical steering lock system was malfunctioning.this same dealership repaired my cube 9/19/2011 for a recall on this same part.part d8700-1fa0c lock steering was malfunctioning and had to be replace again in my 2009 cube.the dealership recommended that i call nissan to report the issue and see if they would cover the repairs.nissan refused to cover any of the repairs and said to call back if it happened again.

The antitheft lock malfunctioned. Now the car wont start.

My car was parked on a city street.i could unlock and lock the vehicle, but i could not start the car using my intelligent key. It was towed to a nissan dealership in newport, ri where i am being charged $814.00 in parts and labor to replace a part that nissan has acknowledged is faulty not only in the cube, but also in the altima.when i called nissan consumer affairs, they said there is no current recall campaign and due to the age of the car there was nothing they will do. Consumer affairs case number is 31941337.

Escl failed for 3rd time. Drove the car, parked it for 15 minutes and it would not start when i came back out. This will make the 3rd escl installed in my car by nissan since i bought it new in july 2009. The 2nd escl was replaced under warranty on november 2011 at 22912 miles. The 3rd one cost me $892.09 plus $140 to tow it to the dealership. It took nissan warranty 2 weeks to tell me that they would reimburse me for the cost of the part only. Dealing with the warranty people was more frustrating than going to the dmv. I would rather have a root canal without novacaine than deal with them again. Talk about making you want to just walk away and not buy another nissan. I love my car but nissan's customer service for faulty parts sucks. The escl has issues that still aren't resolved. Nissan said it was normal wear and tear. That is bull- normal wear and tear is replacing brakes, tires and exhaust. I just replaced my tires last year and my brakes and muffler are still in good shape and original from when i bought the car. They should leave the escl off going forward. It does nothing for you if it leaves you stranded.

Clunk noise while making turn

The contact owns a 2009 nissan cube. The contact stated that the steering wheel seized intermittently on more than one occasion. The vehicle was towed to an authorized dealer. The technician repaired the vehicle by replacing the electronic steering column lock. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 75,185.

Back door handle fails to unlock no key access to open or fix...known problem for these cars.tps sensors malfunction

I am the 2nd owner of this car. I purchased this vehicle april of 2016. The only light that has been on has been the tpm light. On july 3rd,2016 , i was driving on the highway with my children when the car suddenly stalled. It completely stopped driving no matter how hard i would push on the gas. I contacted nissan directly and they told me there was nothing they can do because it was out of warranty. I feel this is unsafe because people do drive with their children in the vehicle. This could have caused a bad collision on the highway when it suddenly just stopped. In the same incident, the back door suddenly will not open.

The rear door on the 2009 nissan cube does not open. I filed a report with nissan who advised me to take it to a dealer for inspection, and then file a claim, as the vehicle was out of warranty. The dealer, grubbs nissan inspected the vehicle on april-11-2014, and found a defective latching mechanism which needs repair at a total cost of $392. They also opined that this was a safety issue. Nissan however refused to pay for the repairs, saying the vehicle was out of warranty. They did not accept this was a safety issue, as opined by the dealer. They also do not accept several similar complaints on this nissan model that appear on publicly available search engines.

The car has a transmission failure if i did full stop and try to move the car will take about 10 seconds to move, i took the car to the dealership and they said because the car is rebuilt title they won't fix but the transmission is factory deficit and called the cunsomer affair and will not help me. It's not safe to drive it even if you taking a left turn in may stop in the middle of the other road it was in murfreesboro tn and my job is like an hour away from home

Clunk noise while making turn

I purchased a 2009 nissan cube krom in november of 2013. Upon receipt, i noticed that one of the tires kept going low on air. So the shop inflated the tire and i thought it was resolved. 2 weeks later, the same tire was low on air. I put air in it again and took it to the dealer to have the pressure sensor looked into and see it that was an issue. They assured me that wasn't the issue. For the next 3 months, i was putting air in the tire on a weekly, and nearly daily basis. I eventually didn't drive it except for 400 miles total in that time as i felt it was unsafe and also took it back to the dealer on 2 other occasions. Each time, i specifically stated to look over the pressure sensor. Each time, they told me there was nothing wrong. Well, in march 2014, i took the car to my own mechanic. When he ran tests, he found that the pressure sensor was faulty and defected and causing a leak through the stem. Upon getting that information, i took the car back to the dealer and finally got them to agree to repair the sensor. Fast forward to may 2014, i now have 2 other sensors that are doing the exact same thing due to the exact same problem. I did a quick search online and found thousands of complaints from other drivers that have the exact same issues i am having. This needs to be addressed asap as this is causing an extremely unsafe driving condition and nissan needs to make the repairs free of charge to customers.

The tire pressure light sensor remains lit. The pressure on the tires are correct and there is not loss of pressure, however the sensor light does not turn off. There has already been a recall on other cubes for this matter.

Rear hatch door lock does not unlock the door.the lock has worked and then it quits working.in an emergency a person would not be able to exit through the hatch door.according to the internet this is a frequent occurrence in the early models.

Nissan cube 2009 -transmission failure; no warning lights just started making a noise and slowing down would not change gears.

The back door latch/lock doesn't work.it permanently locked and can't be unlocked with key or electronic key fob.the vehicle was parked and locked in my apartment designated space.when i tried to open the trunk, it wouldn't unlock. My research on the cube owner's blog indicated several others had the same problem. They had estimates from dealers of several hundred dollars to repair the lock.nissan dealers are aware of the problem. It requires replacing the entire locking mechanism. There are a few instructional videos on line of how to repair the lock.it requires removing back door inside of vehicle.

The antitheft lock malfunctioned. Now the car wont start.

Driver side power window will shatter if leftdown partly when you open the door.i was parked and this has happened twice.

The contact owns a 2009 nissan cube.the contact stated that he has difficulty adjusting the side view mirrors while operating the vehicle, because the component is located at his knee level. Visibility impairment while driving increases the risk for vehicle crash. The vehicle was taken to the dealership for inspection. After inspection, a technician concluded that there was no available remedy. The current and failure mileages were 819. Blupdated 10/13/09. *ljupadted 10/13/09

While adjusting the rear view mirror on my 2009 nissan cube the mirror bracket broke. It has broken twice now and not with excessive force. Replaced at dealer under warranty, dealer said that the problem is common and maybe nissan will come up with a more permanent fix. As of now they just put same old defective type part in.

Tire will not hold air

Tire valve stem leaking air, tire going flat on 2009 nissan cube. I see there was a recall on this issue before.

The contact owns a 2009 nissan cube. The contact stated that while driving approximately 30 mph, she noticed that the tpms warning light had illuminated. After inspecting the vehicle, she noticed that both front tires were deflating faster than normal. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic and they informed her that the steel around the valve stem had corroded and caused air to leak out of the tires faster than normal. The vehicle had not been repaired. The manufacturer was notified and they informed her that the vehicle was not included in the recall associated with nhtsa campaign id number 09v393000 (tires:pressure monitoring and regulating systems). The failure mileage was approximately 34,800.

The tire pressure light sensor remains lit. The pressure on the tires are correct and there is not loss of pressure, however the sensor light does not turn off. There has already been a recall on other cubes for this matter.
