The contact owns a 1995 nissan 240sx.the air bag control module was defective and the light began flashing a few years ago.the vehicle was taken to the dealer and they stated that the light did not affect the functionality of the air bags.recently, the vehicle was taken to a mechanic and he stated that the air bags would not work in a crash because the air bag light was illuminated.the engine size and number of cylinders were unknown.the current mileage was 90,000 and failure mileage was 20,000.updated 10/23/07
No deployment of airbag in an accident.
Airbag module replaced may 2000.it needs to be replaced again, nissan refuses to replace free of charge. The air bags failed twice in a short period of time without the consumer getting involved in accident.the consumer says the air bags were defective and the manufacturer should pay for the cost of replacing it.besides, the consumer was concerned about safety.
False deployment of airbags caused accident.

The airbag system of my car is inoperable because of a malfunctioning airbag control unit. The vehicle has an accelent maintenance history, is only a few years old, and the airbags have never even been deployed. This malfunction is unreasonable and i have discovered that it is rather common on this car.

My daughter/i purchased the car (demo w/ 4714 miles) 8/23/94 and received a 6 yr warranty. She heard engine noise in 8/99, but service dept. Could no determined cause. After the tensioner broke they opened timing chain assembly & found the tensioner in the botton of the housing. Mfg'r declined to honor the warrenty.
The vehicle hit a hole in the highway, left front tire blew out, and cannot be repaired. When trying to repair the tire, the lug wrench broke at the tip where the weld is, nissan contacted. Consumer states they were of no help since warranty had expired.
The fuel tank has a crack and is leaking everywhere at my apartment complex. It has was wasted upwards of $15 of premium fuel.

Filled the tank on my way to work and began smelling gas. Upon coming out at the end of the day there was a large puddle of gas under the car. At this point the smell of gasoline in the car was unbearable. Got the car home and found fuel leaking on the passenger side near the rear wheel. Looking under the car and found fuel streaming from the front portion of the fuel tank near the support strap. It appears that the tank is cracking in this location. Without removing the tank it appears to be a stress fracture of some kind in the plastic tank.

The gas tank on the 1995-1998 nissan 240sx is made of a composite material. Between friday may 7, and saturday may 8, 2010 a stress fracture in the fuel tank formed on the passenger side of the vehicle, adjacent to the strap which holds the tank to the car. The fracture in the tank resulted in a large quantity of fuel leaking over the garage floor. This was a very serious problem as it could have led to a severe vehicle and house fire. The failure has not yet been corrected. To prevent more fuel from leaking from the vehicle, and to reduce the possibility of a fire, the vehicle's battery was disconnected, and the remaining fuel in the vehicle was siphoned into gasoline container. The replacement of the tank requires removing the entire rear subframe of the vehicle which consists of the rear suspension and driveline-- a labor intensive process.this is the second composite part that has failed on the vehicle within two months. The manufacturer also uses a radiator with composite inlets and outlets. Over time and due to heat cycling, the composite material developed a stress fracture resulting in coolant being dumped out of the vehicle.

The contact owns a 1995 nissan 240sx. The contact stated the fuel tank fractured and leaked fuel out of the vehicle. The contact called the trophy west covina nissan located at 205 n citrus st, west covina, ca 91791, and was informed that the replacement fuel tank was no longer available. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The contact stated that he had two other year make and model vehicles that had similar failures. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 187,750.

I have a 1995 nissan 240sx, and the fuel tank has a substantial leak.
Where the gas tank stap is mounted to the car has rubbed against the gas tank and has created a horrible gas leak. I can't even fill the tank an eighth of the way without it leaking. This could catch on fire and needs to be taken care of.

The contact parked the vehicle and then noticed there was a fuel leak from the vehicle. The contact replaced the fuel tank and the failure recurred. The vehicle was not taken to a dealer or mechanic for inspection. The manufacturer was notified and advised that the vehicle was not included in any recalls. The failure mileage was 136,000.
Driving and noticed smell of gasoline. Parked car and inspected. Noticed that the fuel tank was leaking from a stress crack near the fuel tank strap. Fuel leak is obviously a safety hazard.
As is common on 95+ 240sx gasoline began leaking out of my tank suddenly. I had no issues until one day i noticed the smell and a constant drip onto my driveway.
After driving said vehicle nothing stood out however, towards the next day i smelt fuel and there was a leak roughly 1 meter wide. The gas tank cracked in a spot where other owners of the said vehicle had experienced a crack in the same fashion.

The issue happens mostly at the same location but nissan has so solution. This happened under normal driving condition.
Hi, it is very common on all models 1995-1998 240sx for the gas tank to leak. Due to the 2 straps the hold the tank in place causing pressure and rubbing it cracks all our gas tanks. This should be fixed because it is a safety and environmental concern. It happens on all 1995-1998 240sx models. Please do something to get this fixed and resolved. You can look up 240sxforums.com, zilvia.net, ka-t.org ect everyone with those years has an issue with cracking fuel tank. Shifter component has had to be replaced 3 times in 5 years due to internal parts breaking which prevent the shifter button from being pushed in and thus locking the car in the park setting.
No body can fix the braking system in my car.i've been trying to get them done for at least 2 years.4 + times.i'm now being told that the reason being is because the problem is with the universals, calipers, bearings rotors and more.was told that if the problem was taken care of from the beginning that the car wouldn't need as much work now.was quoted over 1,000 in braking system work needed to be done.this car is only a 1995.my 1991 was a tank compared to this one.i hate this car.nissan corporate has been notified several times in regards to this problem and the paint peeling off in the front end.at this time, i don't have the vin # with me.i am afraid to drive this car.just heard a loud crashing sound in the rear end last night.
