When using engine jake brake the rear brake lights are activated. Going down a long grade the vehicles behind me see my brake lights on perhaps for several miles. If i need to use my chassis brakes to slow for something in front of me there is no signalgiven to the following vehicles. Twice i have experienced a near rear end collision from a semi behind me who did not receive a signal that i was physically slowing down from the accustomed travel speed. Traveling down a mountain grade at 50 plus miles per hour there is very little reaction time for a following vehicle before the space interval is closed up.this is a dangerous option to have on a vehicle. On my previous motor homes i was able to have it disconnectedbut unable to on my new coach. Also what is the effect on the electric brakes on a trailer that is being towed? they are activated by the brake light signal from the towing vehicle. Are they over heating becoming of no value if needed in an emergency? if this is such a great thing why is it not on all the trucks ??
