Dear mr bowmanyou helped me once with an issue and i need to enlist the nhtsa again to alert them and you of a potential electrical short/fire hazard with the lippert components inc. Motor which is supplied with the rv but installed by monaco coach corporation who has since declared chapter 7 bankruptcy..navistar has picked up the assets of monaco and now calls itself monaco rv llc but they will not assume any past liabilities of monaco coach corporation despite the fact that they still use the components today. Also lippert components inc refuses to honor any warranty on these motors since they were not paid by monaco coach corporation despite the fact that we as the end consumer have a true problem. Their issue with monaco is irrelevant considering that they have a liability to rectify their component.this motor controls stabilizing jacks and slide out rooms on many 2008-2009 monaco, holiday rambler, and beaver motor coaches (these are used when the rv is parked or about to be underway on a trip). What is happening is that the seal which keeps hydraulic fluid from getting into the motor itself is failing allowing hydraulic fluid to leak inside the electrical workings of the motor. The seal fails allowing the fluid into the motor and when the motor is engaged for stabilizing or moving a slide room an electrical short/possible electrical fire will occur. The motor sits behind a panel and the user engages the motor from inside the coach and thus won't see any signs of a problem until a smoking condition occurs which could then be too late. There are many incidents of this (at least 4) on the irv2.com site and the issue is that lippert disavows the existence of a warranty and won't provide any assistance since monaco went into bankruptcy with them as a creditor.. We both know that this is not an excuse to deny implied liability for producing a product on a motorized vehicle which can cause a fire. The control panel and all partshave the lippert com.
