The contact owns a 2007 mitsubishi outlander.while driving 45 mph, the contact attempted to apply the brakes, but could not stop the vehicle in time.as a result, he rear ended another vehicle.the contact stated that his seat belt failed to restrain him and he struck the steering wheel and sun visor.the air bags failed to deploy.the front end of the vehicle was damaged.a police report was filed.he was able to drive the vehicle to his residence.the current and failure mileages were 2,300.
Speedometer is impossible to read under certain lighting conditions- also wish to know if the air bag is being recalled.there is a clunking noise when backing up with the steering wheel turned.the dealer has replaced the hub bearings twice and it is still making this noise.
On june 21,2007 i was involved in an accident. The front of 2007 mitsibushi outlnder was crushed in. The car was 4 months old. The car has since been totaled due to about $13,000 worth of damage. The problem is that i was 9 months pregnant and the air bags failed to deploy. The body shop stated that they should have and that the crossbeam that holds the airbag sensor was whatbusted the radiator as well as the block. I could have been killed as well asmy unborn child.
The car has on the problem light with air bags
Takata recall and windshield wiper recall. My car was put on defective air bag recall a few years ago and i was told today again that no replacements were available and my car was not on the recall list. Also received letter dec 2016 saying make an appt. For inspection of windshield wiper problem but no parts are available to fix that either!
My mitsibishi suv outlander ls 2007 had failed to stop about between 20-30 ft. From the car ahead of me. When i tried to stop in a sudden move, the anti-skid and anti-lock plus abs system failed. I hit the other vehicles rear bumper and my suv bumper got hit and within few seconds the whole suv caught in fire and burnt. I was not able to collect my items from the back seat of the car. There's an issue with an engine design also. I need nhtsa to investigate and push mitsibishi to investigate to save other people's life and correct the problem.
Airbag cover starting to crack where the airbag is located(right around the mitsubishi logo ). Currently trying to get someone at the mitsubishi dealership to call me back.
The defrost does not work well enough to kept window clear for driving.the anti skid electronics keeps locking out the transmission and it will not shift above 3 rd gear. Causing a drive speed limit below the required highway minimum. Have taken it in to the dealer and they charged me to fix it but the problem is recurring.
Headlights, dim when air conditioning cycles on. Also blower motor and all other lights dim or slow.
The contact owns a 2007 mitsubishi outlander. While driving approximately 50 mph, the headlights blinked and went out without warning. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who diagnosed that the wire in the fuse panel was faulty and needed to be replaced, as well as the fuses. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and stated that there was no recall. The failure was remedied. The failure mileage was approximately 146,000.
Main control unit 8637c096 failed and was replaced. Wipers failed to operate.dealer replaced module. Very expensive. This car had a lot of wiper motor and other recalls.
Speedometer is impossible to read under certain lighting conditions- also wish to know if the air bag is being recalled.there is a clunking noise when backing up with the steering wheel turned.the dealer has replaced the hub bearings twice and it is still making this noise.
Entire dashboard cluster failed: speedometer, tach, odometer, fuel gauge, computer. Car still ran, but there was no way to determine speed or gas remaining. Dealer had to replace entire dashboard.
All power outlets in the car are inoperable.i have taken the car into the dealer 5-6 times to have them all reset.i am told it is from using a phone charger (and i have even tried new/different phone chargers after each incident). On the last visit, i was told this is becoming a common problem, and the easiest fix is not to use a phone charger, and to use it only as a cigarette lighter.i've never heard of a car being unable to handle a phone charger.taking it in to the dealer over and over is becoming incredibly annoying.
Several electrical problems, my steering wheel has intermittent electrical outages. This effects the cruise control set button, the voice connect button. My rear passenger window gets jerky with an up or down motion causing the window to come out of its position and get stuck. My front inside lights either work or don't, depending on their mood. My speakers come in and out also when they want- if its a song they like, they'll work. Also, when my car is running and in park, my rear lights on the driver side don't come on. Once it is in drive or reverse, they do... Oh and my windshield cracks from under the edge where it connects to the car?

Digital dash board failed. No speed, tachometer, mileage log available. May cause accidental over speeding and dangers in some conditional.
Dash display (clock, radio/cd information) is unreadable during daytime driving, especially mid-day sunlight.this is distracting.my car is upgraded with the sound package, which includes sirius radio and 6cd changer.what good is this if you can't read station.i've had to memorize the number of times to push station button.

Radio volume keeps going down and up. Mitsubishi says it knows there is a problem with the 2007 outlander. They haven't corrected the problem as of yet. This problem has been going on since the beginning of the release of this vehicle. Mitsubitshi has many blogs on this issue.
Front suspension has a clunk everytime you turn and start from cero. Radio, backlight is to low and is impossible to read it with sunlight in cold weather the vents for the a/c cycles every 15 seconds and headlight, interior light dim every time. People think you are changing lights when driving at night because of this cycling of vents going on with the a/c on. The system is not normal working. Every outlander has the same issue. Is kind of annoying to drive at night with the light dimming every 15 to 30 seconds.

The contact was unable to get the recalls completed due to the hours of operation of the dealer and the distance needed to be traveled. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, but did not offer any assistance. The contact had not experienced a failure. My vehicle has been recalled. Mitsubishi insists i take it to one of their dealerships. The nearest dealership is 228 miles and 3.5 hours roundtrip. I believe they should allow me to go a differentlocal dealership that is 20 mins. Roundtrip to fix the problem and that they should pay for it as well. It is their mistake why do i have to pay for it with my time and money?please help.
The brake switch malfunctioned.there is failure of the brake lamps to illuminate when the brakes are applied.this can result in an accident.i was told that my particular vehicle was not included in the initial recall for this issue. This vehicle should be included in the recall.
The headlights on my 2007 mitsubishi outlander ls suddenly stopped working while i was driving at night on a country road. The high beams worked fine. I had to leave them on when i was crossing other cars, which caused the other drivers to furiously flash their high beams on and off at me. It was very dangerous and scary! took it to a local mitsubishi dealer who first checked the fuses, then tried to fix the problem by replacing the multifunction switch next to the steering wheel, which did not help. They told me they would not charge me for the switch since it did not do the trick. On a thursday morning, i was asked to leave the car with them for at least one day, possibly two so that they could do an "in-depth" investigation and check if it was a wiring problem. I had to rent a car to have transportation. On friday at 5 pm, i received a call that they finally figured out the problem and it had to do with a "smart fuse box" or "etacs", that it was an expensive part and they did not have it in stock, so i would not get my car back until wednesday of the following week! i asked how much the repair would cost and was quoted $1,300! i said give me the car back tonight and i'll come back when the part comes in. Was told it would then cost even more in labor, because it was taken apart and would need to be put back together, then "opened up" again! so now i am paying for this exorbitant repair plus several more days for the rental. I see that models 2009 and up have actually been recalled for the same issue, and am outraged that these technicians did not figure this out immediately, since they have dealt with the problem before. I feel very strongly that it should be a recall matter as well for the 2007 models. My car only has 75,000 miles or so on it and i was hoping to drive it for at least another year or two. I will upload the bill when i get the car back tomorrow.
The contact owns a 2007 mitsubishi outlander. While attempting to shift the vehicle into drive, the transmission failed to shift. The failure recurred intermittently. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who diagnosed that the brake lights failed and the vehicle would not shift into gear. The independent mechanic did not repair the vehicle. The dealer diagnosed that the brake lamp switch failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and stated that the vehicle was previously serviced per nhtsa campaign number: 08v680000 (exterior lighting). The manufacturer stated that they would not assist because the recall repair had already been completed. The approximate failure mileage was 115,000.

My interior lights don't go off when i close the doors. The dealer thought by replacing the driver's side switch it would fix the problem, but it did not. So, i have to leave the interior lights off.
While driving my 2007 mitsubishi outlander the right rear brakes locked up and wore down the brake pad to nothing causing metal on metal contact with the rotor.i contacted mitsubishi and had the vehicle towed to the closest mitsubishi dealership.the mechanic at the dealership told me that the emergency brake cable had adjusted itself causing the brakes to do this.i questioned if it was a mechanical failure so it would be covered under warranty and he said no.mitsubishi replaced the rear brake pads as "good will".i'm concerned that there is a defect in the emergency brake system.and what is going stop it from "readjusting itself" again.i believe that mitsubishi is lying so it can save money on not recalling all mitsubishi outlanders and putting my family in a dangerous vehicle.

Vehicle soon to be recalled for front cross member corrosion.however, my vehicle experienced a failure of front and rear struts, front and rear stabilizer bar bushings and links (and shock absorbers) in early 2013.car had been "bottoming out" over road bumps and had been used in maine from 2007 - 2011, then in nj afterward.replaced mitsubishi parts include: mn101368, 4056a079, 4156a014, mn184194, 4156a028, 4060a173, 4060a174, mn101372, mr272946, 4162a050,mr491946.(link-front suspension stabilizer, bushing-front suspension stabilizer, link-rear suspension stabilizer, bushing-rear suspension stabilizer, struts, front suspension, insulator-front suspension, bearing- front suspension str, shock absorbers- rear, insulator - rear shock.many of these components are in the general areaof the proposed recall.in addition, this vehicle had a front engine mount fail already too (in 2016).there are only 79,000 miles on the car currently, and were 59,000 at the time of the 2013 repair.
The transfer case oil seal dislodged, and the automatic transmission fluid (aft)entered the case assembly, resulting in poor transmission shifting with a strange sound. This should be covered by recall number 14v365000 (recall date 06/25/2014). But mitsubishi customer relations department denied this important power train - transfer case recall, saying this vehicle has only four recalls, not including this recall. They also do not have any records on where and when these recalls were corrected. I have never contacted a such bad customer service department.
On my 2007 mitsubishi outlander xls all of at fluid poured out on the ground in my parking (entering community parking) and community drive way and can not not move the car,no drive at all.the automatic transmission light is illuminated.i took picture of underneath the car and shows the oil discharge from transfer case.i have no doubt in my mind it is transfer case assembly oil seal out of position.looking at the recalls for my car i've come across this recall by mitsubishi:recall number:14v365000. Recall date:06/25/2014replacement transfer case assembly.i called both mitsubishi at 1-888-648-7820 and mitsubishi dealer paul blanco in sacramento at 916-485-2277 and both of then either pretend to be unaware of the problem or did not honor their commitments to repair or replace the assembly and rectify the fault/problem.appreciate your time and patience with me.awaiting your kind and timely response.ps:have more pictures but somehow i couldn't download more![xxx]information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).'*pm
Shift lever gets stuck in (p) park position. While ignition is in on position, brake pedal is depressed, and the rear brake lights are illuminated the vehicle will not come out of park.
I purchased my 2007 mitsubishi from quakertown mitsubishi in april on 2017. In the last month my car will be stuck in the park position when trying to move out of park the care won't move. I called the dealership to get my car looked at. When i made the appointment i was not told that i would be charged a 59.95 diagnostic fee. I did not pay the fee because i didn't have the funds. They did replace my wipers per the recall. I haven't had any other problems until now. I make monthly payments on this car and still owe over 9 thousand on this car.
The contact owns a 2007 mitsubishi outlander. The contact was advised of nhtsa campaign numbers: 16v791000 (visibility) and 16v458000 (suspension) associated with the vehicle. When the vehicle was in the park position, the contact was unable to shift into drive. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, but was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 130,000.
When putting on my driver side seat belt i heard this strange grinding noise from my seat belt. It did not seem to keep me secure in the seat. When i started to drive i moved forward it did not lock like it should to keep you in your seat. I took it to the dealer and was advised i needed a new one. Which will run $491.00. My car only has 36230 miles on it. This seems to be a safety concern. I cannot drive a car without fully functioning seat belts so i am forced to pay the cost. I think the company should replace it since there are so few miles on the car.
The contact owns a 2007 mitsubishi outlander. The contact stated that she attempted to put her seat belt on but it failed to retract and did not correctly secure the contact. A grinding noise could be heard when being pulled down to fasten. The vehicle was taken to the dealer for inspection and they stated that the seat belt needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was notified but provided no assistance. The failure mileage was 120,000. Updated 6/4/13 updated 06/14/2013
Seat belt receiver is malfunctioning, very hard to get drivers and passenger side seat belts to latch. And there have been a few times now i thought they where latched that they have come undone while driving.
The seat belt on front driver side fail and won't lock. I never know that until i notice it then bring it to dealership. There is no way to know it's fail if you never carefully check that. So it's really dangerous to drive.

My name is [xxx] and i have reached out to you for assistance as you can see from my last email date october 26, 2010. Needless to say my issues have still not been resolved and i would like to take this to a higher level until all of my concerns and issues with my vehicle are fully handled. I purchased my 2007 mitsubishi outlander brand new from the dealership and purchased it after reading several excellent reviews , researchingthe car and knowing it came with a warranty for 5 years/100,000 miles. This was one of the key selling points that intrigued me and i was told any and everything that should or would go wrong with the car would be covered during that period, no questions or hassles. I have had nothing but trouble and hassle and i very disappointed in mitsubishi and frankly i will never recommend or buy another mitsubishi after the poor continued service i continue to receive.i have brought my car in for every single maintenance and take very good car of it. My window seal was not sealed properly, driver's seat began squeaking and moving back and forth and the covers in the back seat and trunk came offin january 2010 and i brought my car in , 1/14/10 and brought this to the dealer's attention in oxnard. They advised they fixed the issue and tightened the bolts under the seat. The covers they snapped on so hard the came off and were broke, the others they glued? the seal on the window continued to make noise. Weeks later the seat was doing the same thing again and i have brought it in: 03/30/10, 04/12/10, 05/12/10, 05/24/10, 09/30/10, 11/4/10 and 12/2/10 all for the same issue with the seat and it is still not fixed. I hope you can see and understand now why i'm so upset. I have had this experience with every single issue i bring up at this dealership.i have been working with lupe @ your corporate office, who is wonderful, but she can only do so much and i do not believe this is her fault. The yoke that is part of the frame that holds up the front steering assembly rusted through and does not support the steering assembly the way it should. The car is only 7-1/2 years old and this should not have failed. There were only two replacements to be found in the country. One was a used one from the"south" somewhere, and the second a new one from a mitsubishi warehouse in california. The estimate for repair is about $1400. The dealer i purchased the car from was no help. It seems that since there are very few replacement parts in the u.s. This may be a wide spread problem for these vehicle. The replacement part is used on several model years of this vehicle.
On 2/2/11 the brakes failed when my daughter's 2007 mitsubishi outlander was moved one car length forward in the dive way.the outlander struck the rear of our 2002 ford windstar.there have been 3 other incidents with this vehicle failing to stop when the brakes were applied, 2 of them resulted in accidents.i checked on-line for brake problems for mitsubishi outlander and found a recall for a defective "brake booster vacuum check valve" dated 3/10/2009 for 2008 and 2009 mitsubishi outlanders.the check valve "sticks" causing insufficient braking assist resulting in increased risk of crash.i checked the part numbers at the dealer for the defective part.it is the same part used in the brake system for my daughter's 2007 mitsubishi outlander. Defective p/n 4630a055, replacement p/n 4630a187.mitsubishi must be held accountable for this problem.how many lives has it taken??
Abs system failed. Automatic stability control system failed.

Our 2007 mitsubishi outlander has several rotted out holes the size of half dollar coins in our crossmember which is connected to the control arms and it is making a loud banging sound when we hit any bumps.

I crashed my car due to the rotting away of my sub frame and control arms, mitsubishi is not taking responsibility.the car has been sitting at crown mitsubishi and they only jwant to fix the recall
I was driving at approximately 5mph braking to take a left hand turn when i heard a loud clunk and came to an abrupt stop.after existing the vehicle it appears my front suspension had snapped and my drivers side tire was pushed into the quarter panel hindering my drivers side door and my passenger tire was pointing to the right.after getting it towed to the nearest auto body place, i was informed that the front sub frame snapped due to rust.i am the original owner who has performed all maintenance items, it has been garage kept for 7 out of the 9 years of owning the vehicle.i would hate to see how fast this vehicle would have failed if i did not perform any maintenance on it.what is very troubling is the car is only 9 years old and the night before i was traveling on the highway at 70mph with my 4 kids in the vehicle.if this would have snapped on the highway we would have been lucky to survive because i had zero steering capabilities.
Mechanic said my axle boot lock and strut spring broke and i need a new passenger front axle coil spring.loud bang woke us up while car was in driveway.related to recall nhtsa campaign id: 16v458000?also power steering leaking every time we fill it, that also might have a recall from what i saw.mitsubishi dealer said there are no recalls for my car but seeing similarities with what is wrong with my car.car was just sitting in my driveway when it anpped
Took my 2007 mitsubishi outlander xls v-6 to dealership for several recalls including recall no. 16v-458 / sr-16-003 on may 05, 2018. I picked up my vehicle and was told it did not require the cross member replacement and the anti corrosion spray was performed.around 7:00 pm edt saturday, march 23, 2019 while entering a exit lane on us 119 northbound at the green road exit, my car made a loud grinding sound and starting pulling very hard to the left and came to an abrupt stop after approximately 10-15 feet.fortunately, i was entering the turn lane and was slowing down or it could have easily force me into the medium divider or even into oncoming traffic.i could not move the vehicle forward and put my emergency flashers on to avoid being rear ended by oncoming traffic. I was very concerned as i had my 3 year old grand daughter with me and it is a very congested area.i tried to exit the vehicle to see if i could determine what was wrong.the driver door had to be forced open as i later discovered after exiting the vehicle that the from left fender had been pushed back into the door area by the front tire.after a quick inspection it appeared the control arm broke.after removing the tire, it was evident that the cross member had separated from the vehicle due to extreme corrosion causing the loss of control and abrupt stop.this is the exact problem i had taken it into the dealership for the recall and was told mine did not need replaced.i am attaching pictures of the vehicle to show the missing and broken cross member.there is no way this corroded to the failure point since the recall repair was allegedly completed.further more, if treating the area was supposedly sufficient to prevent further corrosion (as opposed to the replacement of the cross member), this failure should not have taken place.therefore, every cross member should be replaced!
My son only weeks ago was given his mother's 2007 outlander as an upgrade to his former vehicle.days ago, he found pieces of the sub frame breaking off underneath after hearing an odd noise during operation.this vehicle was purchased new in 2007 in omaha, ne.mitsubishi's recall for sub frame corrosion does not include vehicles purchased in nebraska as it isn't in the narrowly defined "salt belt" (although iowa is included).if you have never been to omaha, ne during the winter you would know that the city puts as much salt and salt brine on the roads as anywhere else in the nation--winter weather, i.e. Snow and ice-- in omaha is severe.vehicles that are operated regularly in the omaha area rust prematurely and that is a fact.this vehicle is now unsafe to drive and the value is probably near zero but mitsubishi will not cover the cost to repair.the nhtsa should extend the sub frame recall to other states where the use of road salt is extensive i.e. Nebraska, colorado, utah, etc...this is a travesty and should be rectified immediately before someone is severely injured or killed driving these vehicles.
The steering column area of my 2007 mitsubishi outlander ls makes clicking noises when driven during warm temperatures (only during warm or hot weather, not during the winter).noises occur when the steering wheel is turned and the dealer indicated that this sounds like a clock spring problem.
Recall issued august 2016 for possible corrosion on cross member. Vehicle taken to dealer, inspected, anti rust agent applied to cross member. On subsequent visits to two independent garages for service we were advised of severe corrosion of under carriage, steering parts, and suspension. The first visit was in october 2016, second visit in february, 2017. It is evident the work done by the dealer was unsatisfactory. The cross member and related parts affected by this corrosion need to be replaced. And steering, supension
Left front of vehicle is vibrating/ jerking steering wheel side to side with what sounds like something rubbing hard enough to jerk car side to side. Making a banging noise when turning as though front suspension is broken. I see there is a recall for this issue. I purchased the outlander from a dealership used and was told fixing the recalls wasn't their problem after signing paperwork. Unknown history as i was lied to about issues and salesman was fired. I believe this is a recall issue.
I was driving my outlander xls awd at low speed (~25 mph on a side street) when i heard a loud "pop", and lost control of the steering.i swerved into the oncoming lane, but was able to stop the car without hitting anything or anyone.i regained partial control of the steering, but the steering wheel was now nearly a half-turn off-center and did not fully control the car's direction. The problem was diagnosed as a rotted subframe, which suddenly failed.when the subframe cracked, steering/suspension components were thrown far out of alignment.mitsubishi kindly replaced the subframe at their expense.the car had been in service for 8 years and 73,000 miles at the time of the incident.

On tuesday november 8 2017 my car went out of control.luckily i was able to safely get off to the side of the road. I had my cartowed to my house thinking it was something simple my husband could fix. Helooked underneath and checked everything out. He found that my front crossmembers have completely rotted out. I looked up recalls on my car to see ifthere was one and i found it. It says that the recall is incomplete. Iwould like to know what i can do about getting this fixed or if i am goingto have to come up with the money myself.

In april 2014 mitsubishi sent out a service bulletin tsb-14-33-002 extending the warranty to 9 years/120,000 miles on our 2007 outlander as they had "determined that there is potential for the front coil springs on your vehicle to corrode from prolonged exposure to anti-freezing agents.....which may cause the spring to fracture.". At 151,281 miles my daughter was backing out of our driveway, heard a very loud "crack" or "snap" in the front of the car while she turned to drive away. We drove it to a nearby garage who determined that the front coil springs were indeed fractured. We spent $1176.48 getting the parts replaced. Fortunately for us our daughter was not at a highway rate of speed or we are certain she could have been involved in an accident and hurt. I have called mitsubishi for a refund, but since the mileage was over their "voluntary warranty extension" they will not reimburse me. It is clear to me that mitsubishi has acknowledged a safety issue (possibly to appease nhtsa?) and they are hiding behind a technicality (since i am circa 30,000 miles past the "extended warranty") and not standing behind their product - a product which they have knowingly acknowledged a safety defect with the coil springs. Mitsubishi should be required to reimburse me, and also to recall the affected vehicles and replace the affected components at their cost as they know they have vehicles running down the road with bad coil springs. This is a dangerous situation.
This is a safety recall - control arm has become detached while driving. They are saying it will take more than a month to get it fixed yet refuse to give a car.we have been waiting patiently for our letter that the parts are available and this let to the steering going out while we were driving.- this is not reasonable!

While inspecting vehicle, discovered rotted front crossmember (driver side, metal forming part may have been improperly stamped resulting in the metal becoming thinner and rust it very fast ), which can fail any time involving other steering components to separate of the frame whichmay result in the loss of steering control and leading it to a big crash or fatal accident .there were few complains on this site, regarding same problems on a differentmitsubishi models and also recall nhtsa campaign id no.: 06v334000 for 2007 mitsubishi eclipse affecting 1516 cars. As much as mitsubishi uses same suspension components for different models other mitsubishi vehicles may have same issues.my mitsubishi outlander 2007 was repaired at mitsubishi dealership about month ago. During repair on front suspension (front shocks, coil springs and stabilizers were replaced because extended warranty) but i wasn't told about other even worse problems.see photos.
The contact owns a 2007 mitsubishi outlander. The contact stated that while driving at 50 mph, the contact heard a clanking noise coming from under the front of the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to island auto group dealer located at 1590 hylan blvd, staten island, ny 10305 where it was diagnosed both front coil springs had failed due to corrosion and needed to be replaced. The vehicle had previously been serviced under nhtsa campaign number: 16v458000 (suspension). The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 157,720.
On january 2, 2018 our local overnight temperature was a negative (-)20 degrees f.that morning while still in my driveway, both front coil springs broke and the right front coil spring penetrated the inner sidewall of the 18" tire and this resulted in the tire becoming two distinct pieces.if this had happened while driving on the road, it could have resulted in a serious and possible deadly accident.upon contacting my dealer, i was told that upon searching the mitsubishi database, that a tsb 14-33-002 was no longer posted at the dealer internet access point, apparently it had been purged from the system.i learned of tsb-14-33-002 by other searching online.mitsubishi would not cover the failure, despite it's seriousness to public safety.i am concerned that 2007 mitsubishi outlanders have a metallurgy problem or faulty manufacturer's design, and should be the subject of a national safety recall - at least in colder climate states that use calcium chloride or salt on their roads.i have the car currently in a heated garage awaiting an inspection by nhtsa or mitsubishi.my complaint in writing to mitsubishi remains unanswered.i suggest that if these vehicle suffer failed front coil springs and are involved in an accident, that the broken coil spring will be considered a result of the accident rather than the cause of the accident.if there is a chain collision involving other vehicles, then again the driver may be blamed as the cause, when in reality the failed spring was the cause.suggestion: nhtsa might check for all sub-zero temperature accidents involving 2007 outlanders and determine if they suffered broken front coil springs and a torn up front tire. Photos attached to this report.additional photos can be taken once the replacement $260. Springs arrive and we replace them, documenting our findings. I am willing to submit for metallurgy tests.

I was leaving work and about to get onto the freeway when all of a sudden my car jerked and swerved off the road. I had it towed to a nearby mechanic and he could not believe what he seen. The front control arm was completely rusted and snapped. There is a recall for this on my same exact car, year and everything but mitsubishi said no recall on my vin #. Which makes no sense to me cause it is doing the exact same thing as the ones with a recall. The mechanic said i was lucky to not be on the freeway yet when this happened cause i could be dead. Mitsubishi is taking no responsibility for this and i just forked out $1500.00 to have this fixed. I am contacting the local news to make other people aware of this rust problem.

Front driver side coil spring broken . When pulling out from parking lot heard a rattle and popping sound had it check by a mechanic and found that the spring was broken
Passenger side front coil spring fractured and separated while driving. This same issue was previously reported to nhtsa (complaint number: 11012748) for driver side front coil spring as well as to mitsubishi north america (but got nowhere).
Left front of vehicle is vibrating/ jerking steering wheel side to side with what sounds like something rubbing hard enough to jerk car side to side. Making a banging noise when turning as though front suspension is broken. I see there is a recall for this issue. Received a recall for manufacturer recall numbersr-16-009nhtsa recall number16v791recall statusrecall incomplete, remedy not yet availablesummaryin the event that water drops down through the back side of the front deck garnish (the body piece between the hood and windshield), the front wiper link ball joint may experience excessive moisture and corrode. If this occurs, the resin case of the ball joint will wear prematurely due to the ball joint corrosion and the wiper link may ultimately separate causing the windshield wipers to stop operating.i've been in contact with my local dealer and nothing has been resolved 6 months later i keep being told the parts haven't come in yet.i also received a for a corrosion issue on the lower control arm in august of 2016 same as my other recall no answers for that many months later
I was leaving work when i heard a loud bang come from the front end. I pulled over and could see the front coil spring on my drivers side was broken. I parked it until i could figure out what needed to be done. I found out that mitsubishi extended the warranty to 120000 miles i had 123995. I called the mitsubishi parts department near my area and they had a set, i told them i wanted to find out if mitsubishi would honor the warranty since the mileage was so close, before i paid for them. It took mitsubishi a couple of days to get back to me. They told me they wouldn't do anything about it. I asked if they would pay for the springs and i would do the labor myself, they told me no. I called the parts department back they had already sold the ones they had in stock. It seems to be a common problem because they had to order them and they were on back order (it took 2 weeks to get them). When the parts finally came in i got both front springs because i was told you should replace both at the same time. It was a good thing i ordered them both because the day i went to install them, i looked and noticed the passenger side had broken while the car was just sitting there and the crazy thing is both springs had broken in the exact same place.mitsubishi must have a data base and knows pretty close to when the springs are going to break and made the warranty just shy of when they would break. I just seems the odds of both springs breaking at almost the exact same time is astronomical. I kept the springs in case anybody needs to see them. I also looked on line and found quite a lot of complaints about the same problem all over the usa and canada and doesn't seem to matter if it's in a cold or warm state. Most all of the complaints were after the extended warranty had expired.mitsubishi should do a recall because it could cause an accident if it happens at a high rate of speed.

When operating said vehicle, there was a loud bang from the left front. Upon inspection, it was determined the left front spring had cracked. Vehicle had to be towed to nearest shop for repair. We later found out there was warranty extension for this part. However we were not notified by mitsubishi of this known defect. We contacted mitsubishi numerous times seeking reimbursement since part failed under warranty. They refused to pay. We met all of the rules as specified under the warranty extension notice. Mitsubishi failed to pay for this known failed part. I tried several times to determine why we were not notified of this issue. Mitsubishi offered no help.

The contact owns a 2007 mitsubishi outlander.while driving 10 mph, the vehicle stalled and shut off completely.the vehicle restarted, but would shut off again each time the brake was depressed.the vehicle was towed to the dealer who was unable to determine the cause of failure.the current mileage is 4,200 and failure mileage was 4,100.the consumers wife applied the brakes, but when she did the vehicle stopped abruptly and the engine shut down at the same time. When she restarted the vehicle, it hopped rather than rolling smoothly and the brakes locked up again without the engine shutting down. The brakes worked fine the first two times, then when the brakes were applied for the third time, they locked up and the engine shut down again. The dealer informed the consumer that problem maybe an abs ecu malfunction possibly in conjunction withthe esc.the consumer also stated there was a problem with the left front suspension or bearing.updated 06/08/07.
Left front coil spring shattered in 2 places at 101k, which is well within the 120k/9 year coverage extension in tsb-14-33-002.mitsubishi would not reimburse as the repair was not made at a dealership.i explained the car was virtually un-driveable and had no choice but to go to a local repair facility (nearest dealer over 15 miles away).the response i was given was that i should have had the car inspected at a dealership prior to the spring breaking, and that i should always be checking for recalls and tsb's relative to my vehicle.typical to blame the consumer.
Mitsubishi has extended the warranty on this vehicles front coil springs to 120,000 miles or 9 years (whichever comes first). My front coil springs went bad at 120,500 and mitsubishi refuses to make the necessary repair to their defective parts. The front coil springs, according to mitsubishi have a "potential" to "corrode from prolonged exposure to anti-freezing agents (such as calcium chloride) used in cold weather areas to clear ice and snow from roadways". I do live in ohio and we have a lot of snow here, but upon searching online i have found that many others who do not live or travel to areas where roads need to be salted (e.g. Texas, florida) have also had the same problem. Also, if alternative front coil springs do not have the potential to corrode under these conditions, should mitsubishi not be liable for providing customers with these satisfactory parts regardless of mileage? it seems to be universal and it is my belief that mitsubishi put out a vehicle with a defective part that they are now refusing to recall. Their negligence in this matter is not fair to consumers who pay for quality vehicles with quality parts.

Received recall notice dated august 2016. Had vehicle inspected by our personal mechanic and told it was unsafe to drive (we are in a "cold weather state", namely, we are in chicago, il). Still no notice from mitsubishi that parts are available. Have not driven this vehicle since mid-august. Called mitsubishi customer service sept. 30 and was told that parts are still not widely available. Called nearest mitsubishi dealer and soonest appointment i could get is october 31! and there is no guarantee that parts will be available by then!! the letter says that, "mmna is making every effort to obtain these parts as quickly as possible, and will contact you again by mail with a follow-up recall notice when remedy parts are available." it's already been more than a month since we received the initial notice, had our car inspected by our mechanic and told that it was unsafe to drive.we have to wait another month before the dealer will even allow us to bring the car in. Today (sept. 30) the service technician at the dealership told me they've only been able to completed 6 or 7 repairs because they can't get parts. As a consumer, it appears that mitsubishi motors north america isn't doing enough to remedy this recall in a timely manner. With a serious safety concern like the possibility of "loss of vehicle control and a potential collision" that could result in not only serious injury or even death to the passengers in the mitsubishi, but to other drivers and/or pedestrians, i would think that mmna would be doing everything they could to make these replacementn parts available.
While backing out of the driveway and turning the steering wheel to enter the street, i heard a loud cracking sound and the sterring wheel jerked to one side.i returned to the driveway and later jacked up the car, removed the left front wheel and noticed the top spring of the driver's side suspension was broken.

The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic where they informed the contact that the front passenger side coil spring fractured and during the repair procedure, the front driver side coil spring fractured unexpectedly. Both coil springs were replaced and the mechanic advised that both coil springs were defective due to a manufacturer design flaw. The manufacturer was made aware of the problem.
Direct sunlight is coming through the front windshield of my 2007 mitsubishi outlander es, you can't read the digital radio display or clock.this causes a driving distraction because it causes the driver to look at the digital radio display for a much much longer than normal period to figure out which radio station that is on or to read the clock.although this is a great inconvenience, it can also become a safety issue as the driver spends considerably more time focusing on the digital display because it is difficult to read rather than on the road during direct sunlight periods. It is my opinion that this digital radio display problem can contribute to an accident because it is distracting the driver from focusing on driving conditions and turns the driver's focus to the radiobecause the digital display is difficult to read during direct sunlight periods.mitsubishi motors was contacted and they agreed that this can be a problem, however, they don't have a "fix" for it now.they told me that in the event they come up with a "fix", they will contact me.
The front crossmember was a recall that i had done, this past weekend i had my tires changed and the shop showed me that my rear crossmember is cracked. The crack is along the factory welding. This is the same issue as i had with the front crossmember. It causes major safety issues and i believe that it should be a recall as it is cracked along the factory weld which should hold better than it is. The rear crossmember should be as with the back... Recalled.

Rear passenger windows coming out of the track and or opening out of the window, opening to the exterior of the vehicle, then windows are inoperative leaving the vehicle not safety. The door needed to disarmed the inner panel to work to install the windows in the tracks, in a few operations of the windows, it goin out again.

I have been having problems with my heater since the time i bought my car. I currently own a 2007 mitsubishi outlander. The problem i am having deals with the poor inside heating of my vehicle. For example, once my vehicle is warmed up and i am driving along the road, i am able to feel very hot air come out of the vents. However, anytime i stop somewhere such as at a red light or stop sign, the heat immediately disappears and feels like fridge air coming through the vents. Once i rev the engine up, the hot air returns. I believe this is a safety issue that needs to be dealt with because if i am stuck on the highway during a winter storm, i do not believe my car will put out enough hot air to keep me warm. Also, forget about trying to defrost the windshield and windows. If it is around 20 degrees outside and i start my vehicle and let it warm up, even though the engine is 100% warmed up, it does not put out enough hot air to defrost my windshield. The air is no where warm enough to even melt the snow and ice let alone the fog. Big safety problem if i have to stop somewhere and i am unable to defrost the fog on my windshield. I have taken my vehicle to two separate mitsubishi service centers and they have tried several computer updates, tests, and tried replacing the engine heater door, with no real outcome. I was told this was the way some of the 2007 models were designed. The service rep specifically told me that this was a design flaw. I have contacted mitsubishi corporate and was told my vehicle is running the way it was designed. They will not reimburse me towards a new vehicle or do anything to try and fix the problem. They will not admit to the design flaw. I am very unsatisfied and also feel unsafe in my vehicle during the winter.

Side view mirrorsi am a senior citizen, average height 5'3".i have contacted mitsubishi motors to complain about the side view mirrors on my car, to which they responded 'the side view mirrors meet u.s. Safety standards'.i have been terribly concerned about my mitsubishi outlander's oversized side view mirrors, both on the driver as well as passenger sides. They are not only awkwardly placed, heightwise, but are also hinged in a way that creates huge blind spots on both sides.they obscure my vision, creating blind spots when changing lanes, when making turns, at pedestrian crossings.i have to stop for several minutes to clear both sides, in addition, i have to raise myself in my seat to clear the height of the mirrors.i have had innumerable 'near misses' because they block my view of approaching cars to my right/left.the reason i finally am writing to you is because i almost hit a pedestrian a few weeks ago, due to the mirror blocking my vision of the individual crossing. In addition, they have been knocked off because they extend so far from the mainframe of the car, causing me huge repair costs.i request you advise me how to get mitsubishi's attention to remedy this huge problem, and how i can pursue this matter so that this design flaw is rectified. I have contacted consumer reports and they provided me names of several agencies that i am contacting as well.
