The contact owned a 2004 mitsubishi outlander. While driving approximately 50 mph through a roundabout, the driver lost control of the steering wheel. The front passenger pulled the middle emergency brake to stop the vehicle. As a result, the vehicle flipped over four times and landed on its roof. The air bags failed to deploy. The driver and passengers were uninjured. A police report was filed. The vehicle was destroyed and towed to a tow lot. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 280,000.

On 10/17/04, i was was rear ended. The car spun around and the air bags did not open. Model mitshubishi outlander 2003. My body jerked against the frame of the steering wheel. Yes! i had my seat belt on.

1- i was driving at 55mph(55 posted) on route 38/lincoln highway in west chicago, il and as i approached the intersection an individual did not yield and turned in front of my path. I put on brakes probably about 10-20 feet before i made a high speed impact with his passenger side rear wheel and quarter panel with my front end.my car took the impact on the front end and my airbags did not deploy.i believe i hit the other car at about 50mph and it seems that my airbags should have deployed.my car was deemed a total loss and was not repaired by the insurance company because the frame was bent and broken.i do not know if it would have helped but my neck was injured in the collision.my safety restraints worked properly luckily.

In a driver's side collision, my side air bag did not deploy.

There is a number of complaints with this vehicle. The first is engine noise (loud "ticking, " clicking" noise) this all the time. It was taken in a number of times and every time something was changed and i was told it was fixed. The noise is still there! the keyless entry module was replaced for erratic lock and light function, however it has not fixed the problem. The vehicle pulls to the right and "scuffs" the tires ( we have rotated the tires at about every 1500 miles to try to prevent this). I have taken it in for service and was told alignment was ok, and there was nothing wrong with the vehicle! there is also a constant "thumping, clunking" noise from front end over bumps(was told unable to fix or duplicate). Lastly, this vehicle has a intermittent severe hesitation or sometimes no power. I was told "unable to duplicate" and every thing was ok with the vehicle. All the work was done by the dealer were i purchased it, and i believe they are tired of seeing me!

Upon light acceleration, without engaging a gear change, engine? will lose compression/power, tach fall 500-700 rps as speedometer rises.engine ticks.intermittent wipers speed decreases when vehicle at stop, air circulation fan speed decreases when vehicle at stop, brakes making noise.despite repeated attempts to contact dealership and manufacturer, no one returns my call.

The contact owns a 2004 mitsubishi outlander. Upon depressing the brake pedal, the engine stalled. In addition, the gauging system was low. The vehicle was taken to a dealer to be repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the issue. The failure mileage was 105,000.

I have always changed my oil well within the required maintenance schedule; i noticed an engine ticking noise around 15k miles, and signs of overheating (low level in the coolant overflow container).dealer checked, found no problems.driving to work on 9/13/07, engine ticking noise got 10 times louder.a local repair shop said it should be towed to dealer, which it was.dealer said timing belt slipped; when replaced the belt, loud noise still existed.removed engine cover, inspection showed valve damage.technician inspected further, shows oil burned onto engine parts.mistubishi denying repair under warranty, although all maintenance records meet required standard and car only has 24,000 miles.never had any warning lights for overheating or low oil.mitsubishi says wrong oil filter used by valvoline instant oil change site.i removed the oil filter, sent for testing.awaiting results.engine needs replacing due to damage, and mitsu is denying to cover the repairs.filed complaint with state attorney general, in process. Three weeks without a vehicle now, going on 4.

After moving to texas the vehicle inspection station alerted me to the severely degraded headlight lens on both sides. I have restored the surface and sealed the cracks numerous times but they are in need of restoration or replacement again. The lens alone is not available and the whole assembly costs over $200.00 each. The car was purchased in december of 2003 at the same time i bought my ford f150 and parked beside the truck every day for more than nine years. The lens on my ford is still crystal clear, no cracks and looks to be new. The lens on my mitsubishi is cloudy, cracked and causes my headlights to be very dim. If not for the polymer sealer i am sure there would be water intrusion which would lead to headlamp failure.

Front headlight assembly on both sides are grazed with small cracks- the passenger side has water in it and doesn't evaporate even in extreme heat. It affects the amount of light for visibility when driving at night. Many people have the same issue with the headlights on the 2004 mitsubishi outlander. It will evidently take an accident with possibly serious injury for mitsibishi to do something about this. Where can people go to have this defect corrected and not at the car owners expense, since it is an obvious admitted manufacturer defect.

Numerous cracks and some crazing in both headlight lenses on my qw 2004 mitsubishi outlander.

Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6)the headlamp lenses on my mitsubishi outlander 2004 have started to yellow, crack, and degrade in the past 2 years. In researching this on the internet, there are many other outlander owners for the 2003/2004 model years that have experienced the same problem. The lenses are unsafe and reducing the amount of night illumination that the lights are supposed to provide. In contacting my local dealer they declined to address the problem since the vehicle is out of warranty and referred me to mitsubishi directly. In contacting mitsubishi, they acknowledge the defect with a tsb issued in 12/04 but have not classified it as a recall. They have also declined to address the problem. In escalating it within the mitsubishi organization, case [xxx] was opened and a case manager contacted a local dealer on behalf to see if they would address and they again declined. The dealers want more than $1k in parts and labor to replace the degrading headlamps or they will not do so and mitsu states they have no obligations outside of the warranty period. Headlamps are a safety feature of the vehicle and it is appalling that all acknowledge the poor manufacture of the headlamps (yellowing, cracking, haze), etc. And that this problem is widespread on this model for the 2003/2004 years but no party will take responsibility for fixing. I hope no one has died or dies as a result of not being able to see the road at night due to the reduced illumination resulting from the defect/poor manufacturing.

Failure of turn signal / emergency hazard lights. Relay switch burned out. Car has 39000 miles and is 20 months . Old dealer and distributor claim not their problem. I claim it is a safety problem and should be covered under warranty.

Both headlights on our 2004 mitsubishi outlander are cracked in a similar pattern, bottom outer corner to upper inside corner, there are 2 -3 cracks on each headlight. This was not done by rocks, or any collision, considering they are so similar in appearance on both headlights, it must be a defect in the plastic coverings. We have not attempted to replace these, since the estimate to fix this problem consists of replacing the whole headlight, costing almost $600.00 per headlight.

(1) steering is loose. Vehicle would drift either to the left or right. Excessive vibration even though the defect did not cause any accident or need any parts replacement, it is important that the manufacturer do something about it. This is a well-known problem in asia. I am surprised north america is not notified.*la

The front control arm where it bolts to the k frame rusted away completly resulting in the front drivers tire to come off. Was in a get in go parking lot turning when this happened luckly no one was hurt.

Vehicle vibrated badly and had a tendency to pull to the right.very bad accident occurred july 12, 2006.one car accident.my wife was driving home from houston, texas.a woman driving behind her said they had been driving normally, no speeding or weaving, when my wife's outlander suddenly pulled hard to the right, hit a large curb and flew through the air, landing and rolling on to the side.

I noticed excessive play in the left front of my car which is a safety issue so i brought it to courtesy auto group in south attleboro ma. And they found that it needs lower control arm due to corrosion. I looked underneath the car when i got it home and found severe corrosion on the cross members and the corrosion is from front to back underneath the car and is becoming a real safety issue. I believe mitsubishi should have this problem fixed because lots of people have had this issue due to faulty anti corrosion

I've experienced a creaking, loose-rusty-bucket squeak in the rear end of my vehicle. The noise is mostly heard from a stop to accelerating < 20mph or driving over uneven payment. I wouldn't call the noise a hazardous problem because it has been driving fine, but i'm not a mechanic and itnoticed much to concern a def
