Problem #1)immediately following the purchase of the car, i became aware that there was a problem.the car stalls when the clutch is depressed.it will occur a dozen times throughout the day and then not happen for another 6-8 months. It happened for the first time approximately 6 months after the purchase.i reported it to colonial auto center and nothing was found wrong.it happened again in january 1998 while my husband was driving.again, i brought the car back and nothing was found.it happened in the summer of 1998, and again in april of 1999.problem #2)on the morning of april 25, 1999, i went to start my car and go to work.the horn was stuck on!the only way i could stop the problem was to pull the fuse.the dealer said the horn button was pushed in, even though when i got home the day before, the horn was not blowing.they would have to repalce the entire air-bag system for $656.23.
Consumer receivedrecall 00-v-311-001 notice frommanufacturer.it had been over 2 months, and no parts were available.
I saw the recall id 00v311001 but i have already paid for the fix of my car because i didn't saw the recall what can i do about the money i paid to a mechanici sped $700.00 dollars on the repairs i hope you can help me thanks.
Crankshaft recall problem repaired, but this problems loosened my piston rod causing me to have to purchase anew engine at $5000.

They tightenedpulley bolt, andadvised consumernot to call them until parts have arrived. Parts arrived, andcurrently they want to charge consumer forparts. Asking help from nhtsa in this matter. Recall was complete with no charge to consumer.

Recall 00-v-311-001:mirage model vehicles equipped with 1.5l engines;the bolt securing the crankshaft pulley can become loose and the pulley could fall off the vehicle. Consumer has the same problem. Dealer won't honor the recall.thebolt holding cranshaft pulley became loose again. *nlm
As the vehicle was being backed out of a parking space the harmonic balancer fell off the car, the entire engine needed to be replaced.nlm

Intermittently while drivingvehiclestalls unexpectedly which may result in a crash.dealer cannot determine the cause.
After receiving the recall notice one day before the failure, the dealer informed me that the parts would require a 9 day wait. The vehicle engine now operates worse than it ever has before and has cost over 3000 dollars in additional repairs brought on by the failure. Dealer was very belligerent and uncooperative in the recall. I actually had to push my car two blocks to the service center from where it was parked(after part failure).

Transmission under warranty, fifth gear failure took it to dealership who order the parts then said later that the whole transmission needed replacement then said the followingincorrect lubricant was present in transmission at inspection ?? how who did this which dealership vehicle not safe to drive, the tranmission is under warranty but dealership refuses to fix transmission

Vehicle has been to dealer 5 times for same problem. Transmission hard to shift when cold. Grinds between 1st and 2nd gear. Difficult or unable to engage 1st gear sometimes. Transmission makes rattling noise when in neutral. Dealer replaced transmission of first trip. Reduced rattle sound but increased shifting difficulty. Dealer replaced syncronizers and hub assembly on second trip. Grinding improved but shift diffculty still present. Have to start car in second or third gear sometimes. Cannot engage first gear. Third and fourth trip dealer found no noticable problem. Vehicle lost 5th gear approxamently 3 weeks after last visit to dealer for same problem. Vehicle was traveling approxamently 65 miles per hour when 5th gear disengaged and grinding noises immediately came from engine compartment. Vehicle rapidly slowed down and emergency lane change accross dense traffic was required. 3rd and 4th gears were still usable without problems or noise and vehicle was able to be limped to dealer. Vehicle is currently at dealer having problem inspected.
5th gear broke while highway cruising. Had multiple problems with transmission failure including hard shift, rattling gears and clutch problems. Found shaft within transmission stripped. Gear was free spinning on shaft. Transmission beginning to display same symptoms again. Failure with trans has been about every 12,000 miles.
It is hard to goo to the first gear if stoped. It is also hard to change gears as driving. Some times it is worse then others, especially when trying to upshift while passing other cars.
The passenger side seat belt rachet failed which results in the belt being locked in the retracted position. *nlm

Front passenger seat belt will not retract after being pull out all the way.had been reported to dealer, but they could not fix it.

Consumer having problems with the power windows on the driver's and passenger's side, consumer states when closing the window and after releasing finger off the window,the window will continue to move.
Every time it rains, i must use windshieldwipers, but they fail to work at all sometimes--about 50% of the attempts, and do not work well enough the other 50% of the time.i have discovered that i can stop the car, leaving the car on, and 'exercise' the wipers to get them to work better.i took the car in to the dealership, but they were unsuccessful with pinpointing the problem.the wipers happened to have begun working, as is the commom occurrence; so that was good enough for them.it is extremely fightening to be driving along the interstate and have the wipers stop working!that has happened many time--including on trips.the dealership was willing to try a $90.00 switch and if that did not work , they would have replaced the motor for over $300.00 more.they refused to guarantee locating and fixing the problem for that amount of money--plus labor, of course.so, the problem just remains.i have estimated the date that the problem first began because i had been dealing with it since the beginning of having this car.that date is an estimated time of when i took the car to the dealership about this problem.as well, the number of occurrences is an estimate.i don't know how many times it has occurred.it occurs every time i use the wiper system.i asked the dealership if others had reported problems with wiper systems of mitsubishi mirages; i received no answer.i would like to receive help in finding someone who can repair this problem.i wonder if the dealership is required to repair a problem such as this.would a wiper system failure problem be considered a serious problem?i hope so since being able to see is vital to the driving situation.i know that whenever the wipers stop, i have to find a way to pull off the road without causing an accident in the process of it and despite the fact that i can no longer see the road at all.if your department can help me, please call or email me.thank you for hearing my issue.
