Air bag lightturn on and off

Involved in a car accident in which i was traveling approximately 25 mph and hit someone broad side with the left side front of my vehicle.none of my airbags deployed on a 2008 mitsubishi lancer.

I lost control of my vehicle due to snow and slush off a tractor trailer hitting the back end of my car. The tractor trailer was going about 80mph past me as i was going only 60mph, due to my car being front wheel drive it caused me to spin out and lose control of the car. I crossed into the left lane of traffic (not hitting anyone) and then back into the right lane where i then proceeded to go off the road down an embankment. I bashed my head against the driver side window as i lost control, i then hit my head again against the window as the rear end of my car hit a tree stomp. Through hitting the tree stomp it caused my passenger side airbags to deploy but not the driver side, side airbags. Due to the driver side, side airbags not deploying as i hit the tree stomp my head smacked against the driver window extremely hard and caused me to get a concussion.

Air bags didn't come up from impact car look like total lost.

The contact owns a 2008 mitsubishi lancer.while driving approximately 60 mph, the contact crashed into a drainage ditch.the vehicle was severely damaged and none of the air bags deployed.one of the occupants was moderately injured.there were no warning indicators illuminated on the instrument panel.the dealer could not determine the cause of the failure.based on the location of the air bag sensors, the contact would have to drive 70 mph in order for the air bags to deploy.the failure and current mileages were unknown.

Hi my name is [xxx]and the reason i'm writing this email is because i'm an owner of a 2008 mitsubishi lancer that i lease on april of 2007.now the problem is that i was driving the other day and my side airbags on my driver side deployed for no apparent reason i could of killed myself or cause a major accident.i took the car to the dealer and services said that they need to get the car checked out i explain to them that i didn't crash the car i was just driving but i guess they don't believe me when there's no damages to the body of the car.now they come back and tell me that mitsubishi is not going to fix the damages and for me to contact my car insurance and make a report so they can fix the problem b/c the warranty is not responsible for what happened and they not giving me a loaner car.i been a loyal customer with this company my 1st car was a galant i think they should take into consideration that i'm leasing a car with this company and help me out by getting my car fix at no cost.this is a safety issue is not like i cause the damages if it was up to me i wouldn't even want this car back no more b/c i have kids and is not a very safe ride.so what i'm asking here if that if mitsubishi want to keep me as a loyal customer and keep having me leasing cars from their dealer i would appreciate if they go out their way just how they do when they selling a car and help me out here, i'm loosing work hours and my kids are loosened days of work b/c i don't have a car to get back and fourth.i look forward to hear from you. I purchased a brand new 2008 mitsubishi lancer in april 2007. After only owning the car for 2 weeks it wouldn't start. I brought it to the dealership and where it was tested and examined. All test came back perfect. From then on the car would intermittently not start. I took the car back to the dealership every time this occurred. It was in the shop 6 times and for a total of about 3 1/2 weeks. The problem could never be detected and there for never fixed. I filed a claim with mitsubishi and the car was finally deemed a lemon. I received another brand new 2008 mitsubishi lancer in october 2007. Now after having this car for about 2 weeks, the problem is re-occurring!! it just won't start. There has to be more 2008 mitsubishi lancer owners out there that have experienced this same problem. What are the odds that i have purchased the only two brand new cars that are lemons!!!!

In 2015 my 2008 mitsubishi lancer did not pass ca state smog. My local mechanic did the necessary tests as directed by the local state referee, they said the problem was the 02 sensor. Ended up being directed by referee to mitsubishi of el cajon and paid $125.00 for them to test it. They said they could not find the problem. Then was told to make appt with the referee on yet another day for them to test it and ended up receiving a 2yr pass because the car still would not complete run test. Report states: failed due to vehicle obd system has not set the readiness monitor(s). I did nit have tje money to fix the issue in 2015 so had to keep it parked until nov 2016 from which point the above was done. Now its 2yrs later it's still not passing. Referee has once again referred me to mits motors, noting that recently all other types of mits models with same issue had already been repaired and that they will not issue another pass to me even tho my car wasn't on a recall list that because so many of mits models had this same issue, they should be required to repair this problem free of charge. Mits states that today, on this day of oct. 8th 2018 that i must still pay another $125.00 for inspection. If and onlythey find that this same issue from actually 3yrs ago is on a tbs list, that only then will they cover parts and service. I live on a very tight budget and had to drive clear from oceanside to have it looked at again. I feel like im getting the run around and being completely swindled. I cannot afford to keep dealing with this same issue with i keep my car totally maintained on a regular bases and all oil changes every 3 months. This problem was on the the tsb list for many of mitsubishi's other models and they were directed by the state to fix the issues free of charge. But im still required to continue jumping thru hoops and paying out of pocket. Why? car runs fine!

Blower motor has failed three times. Blower motors on later manufactured vehicles were recalled several years ago because the blower motor may fail. This vehicle exhibits the same symptoms described as that recall but is outside the scope.

My srs light just started coming on a few years ago before we were in an accident.when we took it to the dealer to check it, they said it was a costly repair and is only to remove the light...but that the airbags would still deploy if we were in an accident.since then, we've been in an accident where we were rear-ended (which would not deploy the airbags) but it pushed us into the car in front of us (which should have deployed the airbags).seeing as this light just came on way before any accidents and could not have been caused by anything we did, i believe it to be faulty from the manufacturer.when googling this issue, i found a lot of people complaining about the same thing happening.yet, mitsubishi has never been pushed to make their seat belt pretensioner flaw into a safety recall and expects to just make money off mitubishi owners coming in to pay to have this fixed.

My son was attempting to stop at a red light when the brakes started to pulse uncontrollably, and the brake pedal when down to the floor. Also the abs light lit up. Unfortunately he could not stop in time and he hit the car in front of him. Three weeks later after the car was repaired, i went to go start the car and the car would not go into gear, the instrument panel lit up and some of my electric stop working. I had the car towed to the dealer. After two days of diagnostics they said there was a problem with a wiring harness due to the accident. I tried to explain to the dealer that the abs was the reason we had the accident in the first place and that was when the electrical problem started. There was a bill for $423 that we had to pay because the dealer insisted the problem was due to the accident. I will be in touch with mitsubishi to see if this can be rectified. Also i do hope someone will investigate this electrical problem. It was very unnerving to hit the brakes and the car would not stop.

On wednesday morning 4/24/2013 after night shift i went outside to start my car 5-10 minutes early just like any other time prior to driving. I put my car in gear to pull away and a service signal went off stating "maintnence required" with a depiction of a transaxel and the front suspension in "motion". I then put the car in neutral and applied the emergency break to inspect. The awc function would not work, "tarmac" to "gravel" to "snow". The next day i brought my vehicle to d'ambrosio mitsubishi for their technicians to look at it and repair it. They did the usual maintnence oil change, fluid check, tire rotation etc like i have done ever 2500 miles. The technicians discovered the s-awc pump had seized up and that the pump needed to be replaced; he stated it would cost $2500.00 to replace, i asked what i had done to cause such a catastrophic event; the service manager advised me that it was a flaw caused by mitsubishi and there was nothing i had done or did not do to cause this. I then left and have no idea what i'm going to do now that i have a front wheel drive car that is meant to be a full time all wheel drive car, now its sitting under a tarp and i take the bus or get a ride.

2008 mitsubishi lancer oil transmission cooler has corroded from normal use. The car was making a waning noise while driving because all the fluid had leaked out from the transmission cooler due to corrosion. No sensors or anything went off, only noticed upon inspection of the car once i arrived home.similar recall was made on the 2010 mitsubishi galant (http://www.mitsubishisucks.com/cars/recalls/usa/201003.html) so it is no doubt that the lancer most likely had a similar issue with a similar part.

I received a recall notice for the drive belt, however, the dealer stated that the parts are on back order.i explained that the car is making a noise and i am concerned about the safety of driving the car.their response is that i should bring the car in to get looked at.this now involves me having to take time off from work so that i can take it there which is about 40 minutes from my home.if it is the drive belt, there is nothing they can do anyway. I feel that it is negligent and a lack of consideration for the safety of the people driving the cars to have a recall and then have parts on back order.the manufacturer knows there is going to be a recall long before they announce it and send out notices.i have tried calling mitsubishi customer service at 888-648-7820 and have been on hold for 20 minutes and still no one has picked up.

Tuesday, 11/27/18, morning my car (100,00 total miles driven) started to make a periodic squeaking noise while driving on the freeway to work. I then took it to an auto repair shop that same morning to have it checked. They said that the problem was coming from my drive belt and pulleys. They referred me to the following link: https://www.cars.com/recalls/mitsubishi-lancer-2008/.according to this website, my car has a recall for the drive belt and pulleys. So i went on mitsubishi's recall website to put in my vid number, but it was showing that my car does not qualify for the recall. So i proceeded to have the auto repair shop repair my car according to the recall instructions shown on the website that he referred me to, which involves replacing the drive belt, pulleys, and drive belt tensioner.it seemed to have fixed the problem, but the next day (11/28) on my back home from work, i started hearing another noise after coming off the freeway. I noticed that my drive belt had been torn. Please refer to the attached picture.so i contacted the auto repair shop to look into it again. They have replaced the drive belt again, but recommended that i try to contact mitsubishi again.according to them, the symptoms match the information in the recall, but again, mitsubishi's website says that my car does not qualify for this recall.prior to this event, i had my drive belt and battery replaced.is mitsubishi in no way responsible for this? i do not recall receiving a letter back in 2014 about any recall, but i may not be remembering correctly. Is it possible to see the history of recalls that were done on my car?thank you,(xxxx)parts of this document have been redacted to protect personally identifiable information pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6)

I was driving the car to my desired destination when all of a sudden the car started to smell like something was burning. When the passenger when to check, while we where waiting for the light to change, she noticed that fire was coming from under the hood. All we could do was get out of the car and take the kids out when the fire started to get bigger. A man who was near the place help controlling the fire with some extinguishers until the firemen arrived. When the firemen arrived at the scene, and manage to control the fire, they declared the car to be total lost.

Mar 29,2012manufacturer recall numbersr-12-002 nhtsa recall number12e012 recall statusrecall incomplete summarythe headlamps used for production vehicles allow for horizontal adjustment during the vehicle assembly process, but the adjustment is sealed after the headlamps are installed so that no further adjustments can be made. Both conditions increase the risk of a crash and can occur without prior warning. Remedythe dealership will inspect your vehicle to determine if the horizontal adjustment mechanism on your headlamps has been disabled. If necessary, the dealer will repair your headlamps by sealing and disabling the horizontal adjustment mechanism, free of chargeso basicly i would like to know where i can get this fixed and get a free pair of headlight for driving my car for so long without being notified. The only reason i found out was because i was trying to put in a new radio in my car and the recall notice came up.

Car began to sputter when stopping/accelerating and in reverse; car would appear to stall out.

2008 mitsubishi lancer evolution x gsrthe car has a projected mpg per tank of 280.i have had the car from mile 4 on the odometer & have never gotten over 195 mi per tank.i contacted anaheim mitsubishi where i purchased by vehicle & they knew nothing of the issue & could not assist but only told me after i had gone there 2 times for assistance/correction on the issue.i then took the car to south coast mitsubishi & they knew of the issue & stated that there was an ecu flash that would correct the air/fuel ratio &a few other issues.at the time i took it in for what i thought was rubbing & that issue was fixed but i am still having issues with the car consuming so much fuel.i have resorted to less driving, until someone can actually prove to me the ecu has been flashed or until mitsubishi actually fixes this issue for real.

Sometimes while driving there is a strong smell of fuel. The smell is strong enough to make any person in vehicle lightheaded and have a headache. Even after turning off a/c and rolling down windows you can still smell the fumes. Took to dealership and was told it was compensation.

I received 3 letters in the mail regarding a important safety recall concerning my drive belt system i called the local mitsubishi dealer ship as well as their corporate headquarters. They informed me that the part that needs to be fixed is on back order. I do not feel safe in my car and its been since oct 2014 its over 6 months and i've not heard from either the dealer ship or the corporate headquarters. Every time you call and ask for an update they say they don't have a confirmed time when the part will be in stock and they continue to give me the run around. At this rate my car will grow old, before anything can be done.

While coming of the off-ramp, the vehicle lost pressure in the clutch pedal. Upon further investigation, there was fluid leaking from the clutch master cylinder. It has been noted that clutch master cylinder in 2008 mitsubishi lancer es (base model) is the same as one being recalled in 2008-2013 mitsubishi lancer evolution x. This is a second time the clutch master cylinder has failed and needs to be replaced. I would like for mitsubishi corp. To look into the recalling base models for this issue as they have in the following sr-13-009. Failure of the clutch master cylinder reduces the ability to shift the vehicle into or out of gear, increasing the risk of a crash.

I recently purchased a 2008 mitsubishi lancer there is a problem with the cvt transmission overheating the light stating slow down appears on dashboard i have to pull off the road turn off engine and wait between 10 to 20 mins before im able to drive again there are many complaints regarding the transmission overheating on the 2008 ,2009 and 2016 from my understanding its the transmissions that were used on on those years of vehicles now weather or not its mechanical or poor designed transmissions the manufacturer should have put a recall on these vehicles the manufacturer should have a recall on these vehicles to replace the transmissions

In relation to the mitsubishi lanser 2008, with slat of puerto rico gzn-191 and acquired in the motive dealer berrios corp. De humacao, in may, 2007. This vehicle a noise presents in the transmission for what was led to guarantee, today on october 24, 2007 to the dealer before mentioned, here it was inspected by the ing. Mr.. Filomeno ramos lopez lic. * 2224. Who determines that has to stoop the transmission of the vehicle to be repaired. For what in this letter i am expressing my opinion, while to that we do not agree in the decision thought by the ing., in her(it) of repairing the transmission of the vehicle. Since of our part one was done sacrifice to obtain a new vehicle, in where no type was had of mechanical difficulties.

There is a oil leak coming out of the crank pulley, did quick research found out i wasn't the only one. There was a oil ring around the pulley where it goes into the engine and it needs to be a free fix or recall i don't care but why would i want to keep a car that has this problem. I also bought a new pulley for the car and checked on it 6 months later and the ring was there also.

Underdrive pulley oil leak defect for all 2008 lancers with 4b11 engine.

I own a 2008 lancer with transmission problems won't go into 3rd or 4th gear and dealer wont fix it.

Rear seatbelt locked up and dealership said to cut it and now they dont want to fix it.

I took my car to veracom mitsubishi san mateo c.a.where i purchasedmy 2008mitsubishi gts for therecall id # 09v077000 - service brakes, air:supply:check valve - , they denied the recalled and services on my vehicle and check there computer systems and showed me there was no recalled for this car and problems. I check the web site and nhtsa.gov that there is a recall for this problem. I am worry about the faulty parts and unsure where i can get help and to get it repaired. Today is saturday and i have to drive very late to pick up my son from babysitter at night,i am concerned about the safety of my car and driving my car during the rain storm. Vehicle: 2008 mitsubishi lancer gts.

The very first application of the brakes upon starting exhibits increased stopping distance during parking lot maneuvers.subsequent applications of the brake reveal full pedal force and normal stopping distance.vehicle exhibits the same symptoms of recall 09v077000 but is outside the scope of the recall.

The contact owns a 2008 mitsubishi lancer.whenever the brake pedal is depressed, the contact hears a loud scrubbing sound coming from the rotors.when the vehicle is turned right or left, the front end of the vehicle makes a popping sound.the first time the vehicle was taken to the dealer they replaced the front driver's side wheel bearing due to a recall.the second time the vehicle was taken to the dealer regarding the front passenger side wheel bearing.on the third visit, the front passenger side wheel bearing was replaced and both front rotors were turned.the vehicle has been taken to the dealer approximately three times regarding this failure and it is gradually becoming worse.the nhtsa campaign id number was unknown.the current mileage was 7,333 and failure mileage was 6,800.updated 10/14/08.*ljupdated 10/16/08.

I have had several problems of which i have had my car in to the mitsubishi dealer to check out to find out that they could find out nothing.the brakes gave out once and i had to use my emergency brake to stop. Thank god i did not hit anyone. They seemed to work afterwards.the car would not start and this would happen several time a week. I had the car checked out thoroughly and of course they found nothing out.now i am dealing with a thumping noise when i am at a complete stop and i go to take off.this noise has been there since the first day i bought the car. It seems to only be heard when at a complete stop and you go to take off.also the heater fan clicks off and on randomly. I never had this or heard this loud clicking on and off fan noise when i had a 2004 lancer. I also had it check out and again they tell me that is normal.i do not think so.

Abs light came on... Took to firestone since it was closest to college....they replaced my front brakes....a few weeks later the light came back on and would do this frequently so i took it back to firestone and they informed me that the diagnostic was the left front speed sensor was defective....i called mitsubishi and spoke to several customer service personnel and was told there was nothing they could or would do.... I asked if there were other complaints about this part since it was only the left side that went bad not both and they said they did not have that information.... I am not happy... The repair is over $500 and my concern is driving on wet roads and the brakes failing.status update 07/31/14updated 03/3/15

I was driving my car to work this morning and all of a sudden i felt a drastic pull to the left. I get out of the car and look at all sides of the vehicle and don't notice anything right away. Then i notice my left front wheel is turned slightly while the steering wheel is straight. I look under the vehicle to find the sub frame rotted and rusted away from the control arm. This is a huge safety issue as this car has 123k miles and being a 2008 car, just 1 year later than the recalls currently up to 2007 for the same exact issue. The recall should be extended to the 2008 vehicles as well due to the insane amount of complaints on this specific sub frame rotting issue.

I have had an 08 mitsubishi lancer gts for a year now and have had serious problems with the car pulling left since the very first week i owned it. I've had the car aligned 5 times now and no success. The car will drive fine for less than a week and it starts to pull left again, sometimes driving off the lot after an alignment, it would still not be corrected. My tires are wearing unevenly on the outside edges as well, and are now the tires are worn down to the tread indicators. I need new tires but don't want to waste the money without a solution to this problem first.

My 2008 mitsubishi lancer pulls to the left. This happens when accelerating, braking or coasting on both crowned and uncrowned roads. It is a well documented problem on internet web forums for lancer enthusiasts.

While driving on back street the car started pulling dramatically to the left.on further inspection it was noticed that where the wheel connects to the subframe there was excessive rot the point the wheel was no longer attached at the bottom of the subframe.contacted mitsubishi.they said the lancer (and other models)had a recall on excessive subframe rot but only years 2002 to 2007 for the lancer.mine being 2008 is not recalled.i will have to pay for repairs $2000.this is a huge safety issue as the subframe holds the wheels on, and the engine in place and it had a catistropic failure which could have easily resulted in loss of control and loss of life.i was not notified of this or i could have informed my mechanic to carefully look for subframe rot (most inspections are just by site).had anyone hit this subframe with a hammer they would have seen it was dissintegrating.the car does look like its recalled in canada " transport canada recall 2016317, which was issued on june 21, 2016. The recall involves 64,305 mitsubishi outlander and lancer models manufactured between 2003 and 2013."mitsubishi customer relations has informed me today that i will be responsible for the repair.this is not right.failure of a subframe is a very rare event.its clear this subframe has the same exact problem as the lancers built the year before.the outlander also has the exact same subframe.the dealer has my subframe in stock because its exactly the same as the outlander (which is covered).i am hoping they realize that not informing customers of this dangerous situation could result in possible loss of life. Informing the lancer owners up to 2013 (as they did in canada) could save lives.

2008 lancer pulls to the left.a bit more noticeable at higher speeds.aggressive pull to the left.took to the dealership to take a look at it.they did nothing.i called again and they said they heard nothing of this problem despite many many people having this same issue.

When i first got the car on my way home i notice that the car is pulling to the left. I then took my car to the dealer and they told my that the air in my left tire is low on air. The dealer try to fix this issue with not help. I then had an alignment done but that didn't help either. Now my tire is wearing out uneven and the mitsubishi won't do anything for my car to have this problem fix.

My car, mitsubishi lancer gts model 2008 is pulling to the side.i got this car new, it was pulling to the left from the beginning. After they did an alignment, the car is pulling to the right.the amount of pulling is very big, for example if, at 60-65mph i release the steering wheel it rotates right instantly with a half a inch, and the car changes the lane to the right in 3-4 seconds.i don't know if the car or the tires are wrong, but this is very serioos safety concern for me.i've search on the internet for people with similar issue, and found out that most of the people with mitsubishi lancer gts have this problem. So i believe mitsubishi knows about this problem but just don't want to admit it. Please see this link (15 pages): http://forums.evolutionm.net/showthread.php?t=293784 .thanks a lot and please contact me if you need additional information.

I heard a clunking noise. Parked and found rotten parts on tire. Mechanic said it cannot be fixed. Everything rotted. Needs whole new frame. We could have been killed.thank god i was close to home. Now i have nothing but an existing car loan for it.

At 50 km/h, when turning the steering wheel to the left of 90 degree, the vehicle was not turning and going straight forward. Some sound of tire-metal was being heard from the front left wheel. With someone outside, we were seeing at low speed that the wheel was rotating off axis and even touching the car body. After being towing to a canadian tire, the technician mentioned that the cross member was so rotten it was actually breaking in two parts and it was so dangerous, he could not let me go without part replacement.the mechanic technician told me that other lancer had the problem even a 2009 lancer. They referred me to the transport canada recall # 2016317, however this one is only for lancer 2003 to 2006 (and also outlanders). Note that my problem was the same car part as the recall mentioned above. I called the dealer ship to verify the cross member car part vs the older model and the part number was different. I'm wondering how different from 2003 to 2006 the cart part is!they also mentioned that dodge caliber has the same car part in problem with extended warranty. I found this article related to this https://chrysler.oemdtc.com/457/front-and-rear-crossmember-corrosion-x69-warranty-extension-2008-2012-dodge-caliber-jeep-compasspatriot/2

The control arm was corroded and spring rusted through and broke. Had repaired in march of 2019. Should be covered under recall. Sent invoice and receipt to mitsubishi however they are saying it did not meet time frame for repair and are refusing to refund any of my repair costs.

The car pulls to the left very strongly, and have had the car at the dealership 3-4 times to have them try and fix it with no avail. They aligned it and rotated the tires, but this fixed nothing.i stressed my concern with this that the tires would wear out fast since it isn't aligned right, and now, at 4300 miles, all four tires are worn out bad, feathered on the outside, and inside is almost down to 2/32nds, and the dealership i bought the car from refuses to do anything about it. I filed a claim with mitusbishi themselves, and after reviewing the case, said the car is fine, and all four tires have even wear and they closed the case, even though all the tires are worn out different, some worse than others, and the car still pulls to the left.

The contact stated that the manufacturer exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was not made aware of the issue. The contact had not experienced a failure. The contact owns a 2008 mitsubishi lancer.in rainy weather conditions, the contact noticed water entering the vehicle through the driver side cabin.also, the tires have premature tread wear.he took the vehicle to the dealer and a technician replaced all four tires and performed a wheel alignment.several months later, the tire tread displayed abnormal wear again.he took the vehicle back to the dealer and was informed that they would have to realign the tires and replace all four again.the vehicle has not been repaired because the dealer cannot identify the cause of the failures.the failure mileage was 7,500 and current mileage was 19,000.

During my last two visit with technician (last one with mitsubishi dealer, and one before with other service place), the vehicle technician notice excessively rusted cross-member. The technician at mitsubishi dealer also put the note in "computerized vehicle report". When i asked the technician about how bad is this and how to fix this, he mentioned that other mitsubishi lancer vehicles are affecting with the same problem and mitsubishi is recalling vehicles year by year, so hope they will recall this model too. And for safety, i need to make sure to keep eye and need to pay attention to any change to vehicle while driving as this may crack and i am end up in accident.

The contact owns a 2008 mitsubishi lancer. The contact stated while his wife was driving at 25 mph, when the cross member snapped and detached from the vehicle. The contact stated no warning light was illuminated. The driver was unable to control the vehicle and jumped the curb. The driver sustained a dislocated right thumb and did not seek medication attention. No police report was filed. The vehicle was not drivable. The vehicle was towed to independent mechanic and was informed the cross member, unknown tie rod and ball joint was needing to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. Paint on the sides of the car has thousands of rock chips at only 9000 miles. The car has never been driven through gravel and has not been subjected to extreme road conditions. I first noticed the damage occurring at about 5000 miles and took it to the dealer. The dealer stated that he agreed that it shouldn't be happening and thought it was a defect in the paint. They contacted mitsu usa and were told that they would not reimburse for any corrective action. Further investigation has revealed that this is a very common problem with the gts models and is due to a design flaw. Because the car is wider at the rear than the front and no rock deflectors were incorporated into the design, the rear of the car is literally getting sand blasted by the front tires. The only recourse i was offered was to have the car repainted at my own expense with no guarantee that it would not reoccur. Mitsubishi needs to take ownership of this problem, repair the damaged areas and install rock deflectors at no cost to the consumer.

Has active recall i want the sunroof replace not just inspected i want it fixed to avoid future problem of flying offer leaking

The contact owns a 2008 mitsubishi lancer. While driving approximately 30 mph, the cross member and k frame fractured. The vehicle was towed to the dealer. The vehicle was placed on a lift, inspected the vehicle, and diagnosed that there was extensive rust and corrosion. The dealer indicated that the parts needed to be replaced. The vehicle was left at the dealer. The contact was waiting on a response from the manufacturer to determine if the contact would approve the dealer's repair. The vin was excluded from a manufacturer recall. The approximate failure mileage was 120,000.

When i was on my way home from work, i stopped at the store to grab a few things. When i was done, i got in my car and started to back out of the parking spot. I then heard a clunk noise, but dismissed it because i wasn't sure what it was. I then pulled out of the parking lot and started to drive roughly 5-10mph, when more clunks happened and the steering wheel went all over and i lost control and was forced to stop in the middle of the road. I get out of see what happened, and i can see that the whole subframe crossmember was completely rotted through, and the lower control arm had broken from all the rot and was loose. This also caused my cv axle/driveshaft to snap as well. There was no indication that anything was wrong up to this point, and i was completely unaware that this could actually happen. Had this happened 10 minutes earlier when i was driving on a highway and i lost control, i might not be here typing this message. It is also only on the front driver side crossmember that has all the rot. The passenger side looks fairly normal, which i don't understand why. Something with the front driver side was clearly ignored if it is only affected on that side. There is also complaints and posts online about the same issue, so it is not just affecting me.there is also a recall for the same exact issue, subframe crossmember rot, for the 2002-2007 lancer, but this should have been extended to 2008 or higher because this is a serious issue and people could lose their lives over this. Also, my car was built in 2007, so it's possible that i may be affected in the recall for the 2002-2007 group, but my car is classified as a 2008. It also only has just over 32,000 miles, this shouldn't have happened.

I purchased a used 2008 mitsubishi lancer with 163k miles on it from a third party. I took it to the dealership for two open recalls. The dealer called me the next morning and explained to me that the subframe is corroded and will need to be replaced. In fact the dealer advised the vehicle not be driven and the part be replaced immediately because it is unsafe to drive. Now i have a vehicle i can't drive or sell. The repair itself is more than the car is worth. The subframe is part of the frame and is not a maintenance item and should last the life of the vehicle. This is a manufacturing defeat as shown in the recall for canada on 2008-2013 lancer models. I called the factory and was given the run around. I asked for a meeting between the dealership and a factory rep to find an appropriate solution but nothing has materialized. This is a safety issue and needs to be address by the manufacturer before someone gets injured or killed. There are thousands of lancers on the roads today and i would hate to know how many of these have corroded subframes where the lower front control arms could fall to the ground.

I bought the 2008 mitsubishi lancer es a few weeks ago. Every time i back out of the driveway the front end of the car 'bottoms out" and scrapes along the pavement. I brought the car back to mark mitsubishi. They checked out my car and although they admitted that the underside of the front of the car was scraped up the service advisor said everything "spec'd" out just like the other new cars on the lot. I asked if the more expensive versions of the 2008 lancer had a ?beefed up? suspension and was told; ? no all 2008 lancer?s had the same suspension.?i have since learned, from a review of the car on auto mall usathat the gts model has ?firmer coil springs, shock absorbers and bushings and larger stabilizer bars than the de and es models.?i took the service manager, nathan boisvert, for a test drive and backing out of any nearby driveway, even at 1 mile per hour the car "bottomed out" as the front tires rolled over the very small gutter that is common in residential neighborhoods in arizona. He said there was nothing the dealer could do other than report this to mitsubishi since they did not have any "tech bulletins" on this issue. Rather than admit this was a design defect he told me this was a "characteristic" of the car. He suggested i turn the wheel and back out at a 45% angle so only one wheel at a time would go over the gutter and thereby avoid "bottoming out." i called mitsubishi customer assistance and opened a case [# 1-221800146]. They called me back a day later and told me there was nothing wrong with my car and they would not do anything. In the meantime i checked with nathan and he took another new 2008 mitsubishi lancer from the lot and it does the same thing. All i wanted was to have it fixed. From my viewpoint it is obvious that the suspension is not stiff enough. I would think that mitsubishi would want to get in front of this and fix the problem before it becomes a major recall but apparently they have there heads in the sand.

Has active recall i want the sunroof replace not just inspected i want it fixed to avoid future problem of flying offer leaking

Control arm became detached from cross member due to extreme corrosion. Vehicle was in motion when this happened. There were recalls from earlier models due to the same exact thing happening.

2008 mitsubishi lancer.consumer writes in regards to throttle body problems and other failure issues with vehicle. The consumer stated the vehicle broke down and had to be towed to the dealer. They dealer cleaned the map sensor and throttle body and charged the consumer. The consumer stated the vehicle was still under warranty, and he shouldn't have been charged. Mitsubishi stated the consumer would not have to pay for the cleaning, but he would have to pay for the towing charges. The consumer then learned from the dealer, the map sensor problem was a manufacturing defect. The consumer stated he experienced the problem on two other occasion, where the dealer had to send a mechanic out, to clean the map sensor because the vehicle had broke down and would not start. The consumer stated the problem has become worse, where the engine light stayed on 98% of the time and it would take 4-5 times before the vehicle would stop cutting off.

My lancer willdecelerate while driving. I took the car to the dealership and they said there was a problem with the computer program and that some of their cars, just coming off the trucks had the same problem. They reflashed the computer, this fixed the problem for about 3 months. I was driving the car yesterday when all of a sudden the car started to decelerate. I had the gas pedal to the floor and was going only 20 mph. I called the dealership and they said to flash it again and that would fix the problem. If that does not work we will have to replace the throttle body at $750.00.

I heard a clunking noise. Parked and found rotten parts on tire. Mechanic said it cannot be fixed. Everything rotted. Needs whole new frame. We could have been killed.thank god i was close to home. Now i have nothing but an existing car loan for it.
