The key casing seems to fall apart after a short while, my concern is if this happens while driving will it "kill" the entire system, has this been questioned before?

Lamp sockets for both left and right side brake lights burnt out at 5 years, 2 months with less than 50,000 miles.if one side went out i'd call it a manufacturer defect.both sides,...seems more like an engineering problem.only the contact for the brake side of the 2057 lamp was melted and recessed.the tail lamp side of the socket is still clean.put in a gm replacement socket which looks better made than the oem.just glad the wife did not get rear-ended. Hung onto the old sockets just in case someone might be interested in looking at them.lots of tailgaters in my state, so brake lights are important here.

2006 mitsubishi galant both keys used to start my vehicle have shattered into several pieces while attempting to start the vehicle. The first key broke around july 14 2007 and the second key breaking more recent on 25 november2010. When the keys break they go into several smaller pieces and almost impossible to find all the parts and pieces creating a choking hazard for both children and animals. If needed i can provide pictures. When this second key broke into 7 pieces i was not able to locate all pieces. Approximately 24-48 hours later i observed, by way of passing the plastic piece, that my young puppy had located the piece and swallowed the plastic. I fear that if this would have been my child that found the piece that i would have a larger problem to take care of. I contacted mitsubishi about this problem and they stated that since my vehicle was not still under warranty that they would not help me and that i needed to purchase a new key that was made of better material. The cost to replace one key is $200. Mitsubishi advised that they were not responsible to fix the problem, even if it did cause a choking hazard, since my vehicle is not under warranty and that if my child or puppy choked on the piece that i should have watched them better than what i did.

2006 mitsubishi galant, 109,777 miles: driving home through the middle of the sonoran desert in southern arizona at 11:30pm my galant electrically died.my alternator, battery, engine control module, electric distribution module, passenger side air bag, head lights, radio all went dead.dealer found three power cables to the airbag system that run under the carpet on passenger side of the transmission hump had shorted out because three protrusions on a body weld worked through the insulation and shorted all power to ground.if this happened on the center lane on the freeway at rush hour i could have been killed possibly along with other drivers.

I have a 2006 mitsubishi galant and have had it in the shop repeatedly for the front suspension, brakes, electrical problems and now i'm having transmission problems and lots of engine noise. My front suspension has a squawking sound everytime you go over a speed bump, the whole front end has been rebuilt but it is still doing the same thing. This started at about 8,800 miles and there is now 23,000 and the dealership is telling me there is nothing wrongmy brakes have been squeaking since about 8,800 miles also and they have replaced my front pads since there was a tech bulletin placed and yet this has still not fixed the squeaking. My engine idle fluctuates while sitting in drive and my engine has a loud start up sound almost like there is an exhaust leak but there is not.my transmission when first shifted into reverse stutters as i pull out of my driveway and when in drive you can feel the transmission stutter as long as the car is cold.my car also pulls to left within 4 seconds after not holding the steering wheel extremely tight and this started after they replaced the rack-in-pinion.i have a metal rattling sound coming from the front driver's side of the vehicle but when it is taken into the dealership they state that they could not produce the concern. Yet they have heard it before and had to replace all the springs and pins in the brakes.my tires have worn down dramatically on the outsides even though the correct amount of tire pressure is in the tires. There has not been a time when i have ever been less than 3 lbs under pressure.

At about 6000 miles my brakes began to squeak.the dealer replaced the rear pads.the brakes still squeaked.the dealer replaced the front pads, saying they had found a "service bulletin" which addressed the problem.for a short time the brakes were ok, but now (at 11000 miles) are squeaking again.i am trying to determine if there are others with the same problem or if there is in fact a recall/bulletin before i go back to the dealer and/or mitsubishi motors.

Dt*: the contact stated the steering was over reacting causing the vehicle to be very difficult to control while making left or right turns at 65 mph.once the contact slowed down to 45 mph, the vehicle had better control but it seemed like the vehicle was electronically operating itself through the turns and was very difficult to control.the vehicle had not been to a service dealer.the vehicle was a rental.the consumer stated while driving on the freeway, a vehicle veered into her lane which required her to do a quick evasive maneuver, the turn the consumer made to avoid the other vehicle was quick, but small. The vehicle seemed to over react to the consumer's input and went out of control. The consumer had to correct the vehicle's steering to keep the vehicle from overcorrecting. The vehicle was a rental car. Updated 12/05/06.

The wheel covers on my car flew off random times going down the interstate.tires were in good condition but it seems that anytime i went over 70mph i would lose a hubcap. This could cause an accident or car damage. Headliner in back window has started to come downblocking rear view. I know at one point there was a recall on (black) cars for this specific reason. Except my car is gold. :(on the positive notethe engine and transmission have been great.

In hot weather the doors stick causing the outer door and inner panel to separate making it unable to be opened from outside nor inside. Have to keep pushing on door to make it unstuck before you can enter or get out. Large risk of being stuck inside car in heat.
