My check engine light was on when i took my 2004 mitsubishi galant to the dealership. I had them run a diagnostic check on it to determine why it would not go off. The service advisor told me that i needed a catalytic converter and that a recall had been issued in 2006 to correct the problem. This was the 1st time i had been made aware that there had been a recall issued. The dealer refused to repair the catalytic converter due to the expiration of the recall. I do not think this is fair treatment. I was never notified that there was a defect. The dealership reflashed the pcm free of charge but would not replace the catalytic converter. I would like the dealership to replace the catalytic converter.

Seat belt does not just click easily as it should and sometimes doesn't click at all. This is very dangerous as i don't even know if it would work in a car crash.
Dt:the contact stated the rear seat belts rubbedunderneath the neck of the passengers. The service dealer stated that it was a manufacturer'sproblem and will contact the manufacturer'srepresentative.the consumer has not contacted the manufacturer.
I bought my 2004 galant about 4 months ago.everything was great till one day i tried to stop and i heard a loud grinding noise from my brakes.then my traction light and my abs light came on.i took it to the dealer where they said it was a sensor and it fixed the problem for 1 day.i have taken it back and they say there is nothing wrong.i thought i was buying a reliable car, but i guess not.i guess someone will have to die before the will get off their butts and fix the problem.
Abs/traction control light constantly on.wheel sensor was found to be defective and in need of replacement.this happened on two different occasions.
Consumer has had sensor in the abs system replaced twice. *** no answer required*** the vehicle made a loud bang/squeaking and or rubbing sound, then the traction control system warning light illuminated followed by the abs warning light.this was an intermittent problem.*sc
I have taken my 2004 mitsubishi galant to the dealer over 9 times for my brakes. I contacted a lawyer for the lemon law and was advised that due to my mileage i didn't qualify for a lemon return. He advised me to settle with mitsubishi and move on. In the process of the attorney processing my settlement, my vehicle was involved in a non collision accident, we feel it was break failure, but the lawyer stated it would cost too much to prove it was break failure. I did as he stated except that i didn't move on because i can't afford another vehicle. I took my vehicle to another institute and had them inspect my vehicle, they stated to change my breaks again...i paid them to do it and i am still having the same issue with the breaks. I have been driving this vehicle for over a year with constant break issues and have not been able to resolve the problem even after spending almost $800.00 in breaks and rotors since november 2006. That sounds like a lemon vehicle to me. I have been ripped off my the dealer and the attorney who handled my case.
Dt*:the contact stated since purchase the vehicle shook when the brake pedal was depressed.the vehicle required excessive stopping distance at any speed. The dealership inspected the vehicle once, but was unable to determine a problem.the vehicle is currently at the dealership.
The contact owns a 2004 mitsubishi galant. The contact stated the dashboard separated and began to fracture above the glove compartment. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer where the contact was informed that sunlight and heat caused the dashboard to warp and separate. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure but refused to offer assistance because the vehicle was no longer under warranty. The failure and current mileages were 62,666.

Paint fading on hood, roof and trunk of my 2004 mitsubishi galant.
The driver side door panel gets caught on the b pillar almost every time the door is closed making it near impossible to open. Also a few weeks after this started happening the window started to stick in the down position only going up after beating on the inside of the door .
At about 50k miles both rear windows failed, went down on their own and won't go back up, i had to wedge them up to keep the in place.the paint on the rear bumper is oxidizing rapidly, this car has been parked in a garage for the entire time i have owned it.at about 90k miles i took my car in for a check engine light, it was a catalytic converter, i was told that the recall had expired and i would have to pay $1100 to replace the part.i sent an email to mitsubishi that was unreturned.

Purchased a used 2004 mitusbishi galant july 2007.memorial day weekend 2007 passenger door jammed, unable to open or get out of door. Dealer replaced door panel out of "goodwill" november 07.approx 2 months later, both front doors sticking and hard to open. Dealer replaced both door panels.approx 1 month ago or less , driver door panel stuck again.had to crawl across seats for approx one week to be able to drive. Dealer did not replace door panel even though last door panel still under warranty, merely reattached panel. First 2 cases, clips on door panels broke. 3rd case clips were not broken. Last weekend 5/24/08 passenger door panel stuck again. Cannot open passenger door. Have not returned to dealer yet, intend to go next couple days. First doing research. On last situation, service department saying mitusbishi claiming i am tearing up doors. If clips are broken, will not replace under warranty.pg
Drivers inside door panel loose; panel re-attached with clips by cool spring mitsubishisecond incident july 25, 2008; drivers inside door loose again, re-attached with clips by hallmark mitsubishithird incident september 12, 2012 drivers inside door panel loose, could not re-attached with clips; need to order new inside door panel.panel ordered and re-installed by (ntb) national tire and batteryfourth incident, july 2014, passenger inside door panel loose; ntb and firestone could not fix, need panel replaced. I have receipt for all these incidents. I cannot understand why the door panels will not stay attached on this car.mitsubishi should reimburse me for all the expenses associated with previous repair of these panels and fix the panel for the rear door.i also need assurance and proof that they will repair at no cost any future panels that come loose as long as i own this car.this is ridiculous that you cannot get out of your car because the panel catches.
There is no accident but the paint on my black car is peeling off.i have big white splotches all over my car. It looks terrible.i have always taken care of my car, and the paint just started peeling off. I have heard and seen this on alot of mitsubishi black cars. I think it defective paint. Help.
The contact owns a 2004 mitsubishi galant. The vehicle was parked and the contact was unable to exit from the front driver side door. The door would not open and the contact had to exit the vehicle through the front passenger door. The vehicle was taken to the dealer but the technician was unable to diagnose the failure. The contact stated that the failure would only recur in warmer temperatures. The contact believed the inside door panel would become stuck to the vehicle, causing the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure also recurred with the front passenger side door. The approximate failure mileage was 90,000.
In oct. 2006 i took my vehicle in because the right front and rear doors were sticking and not opening at times. The dealer replaced the door panels. In july 2008 i took the vehicle to a different dealer for the same problem with right front and rear doors. They replaced the clips that hold the door panel to the frame, sighting poor design of the door panels. Currently (jan. 2010) i am again having this problem with the right front and rear doors again and now the driver's front door. This will be the third time i've had this issue with the passenger doors. Mitsubishi does not feel this a concern to them since my vehicle is no longer covered under warranty. My concern is that this is a safety issue, currently three of my four doors get stuck and will not open at times, what if i were in an accident and needed to get out of the car? please help me bring attention to this matter. *cw
Driver side and passenger side front inside door panels are repeatedly falling off and creating the doors to jam and not allow passengers to get in or out of vehicle. Was told by dealer that mitsubishi motors will not cover this under warranty even though this has happened repeated mount of times.
In 2015 my vehicle was back into by a snow plow. After that the the total suspension has almost replaced. The sway bar breaks now working on bearings and control arms. On each side of the vehicle. The suspension before the incident has been a problem. Alsosrs light is on .ihave to payu for all repairs out of pocket . It has been expensive . The insurance company for the claim for the repairs only paid to fix the bumper and very little else. Front end damage nothing undercarriage. Its has been very expensive.
Exhaust manifold catalytic converter and galant shift interlock
Since purchasing this 2004 galant es in june of 2005, i have been shocked too numerous times to count.it does not happen when you are initially opening the door to get into the car, only after you have already been inside.this has been occurring continually since day of purchase.at first, i though it might be just me carrying around static electricity, but it happens to everyone on any door of the vehicle.it is rather painful at times as the spark is clearly visible, even during the day. I haven't a clue what could cause this, and plan on mentioning it to the dealership at this oil change.
Soon after i paid off my 2004 mitsubishi galant i noticed that the paint was oxidizing so i took it to a mitsubishi dealership and they repainted it for me. It has been about 7 months since the paint job and the paint is oxidizing again. I have seen other black galants around which have had the same issue, what can be done about this?
It said it could possibly roll away on its own
Dt*: the contact stated while in a parking lot, the vehicle accelerated without warning causing a crash into a wall.the wall sustained minor damage and a police report was taken.the vehicle was towed to an independent repair shop.the dealer was not contacted.
My son's car had been in the shop twice for the same thing.he said he was driving down the highway and the car would rapidly accelerate to a high rate of speed.he tried braking, but the car would not slow down.after several tries, he was able to stop the car.this happened to him 2 different times.he took the car to the shop both times.in march, 2006 my son was killed in this car.(it had been in the shop just 5 days earlier)he was on a 45 mph road in houston.the car was going at a high rate of speed when it left the roadway.it has been hard for me to talk about this, but i know that the car did the same thing it had done just days before, resulting in my son's death.
On sept. 23, 2008, i was waiting at a traffic light prior to getting on the freeway when my driver's door window shattered.the sound was as if it was hit by a large rock or tire iron. It seems the stress on the glass came from a failed window regulator.during the attempt to replace the window it was discovered that a window regulator cable had jumped/slipped off its plastic tracking roller.according to the auto glass repair tech, this created a tremendous amount of pressure and stress on the glass causing it to shatter.he told me i would have to purchase a new window regulator, before the window could be replaced.the item is not repairable according to the tech and dealership parts personnel.i hate to imagine what could have occurred if the vehicle was moving at 55 to 60 mph when the window shattered. It was sudden, shocking, and could have very well caused an accident or other major property damage.the glass did not fall out of place until the vehicle started moving. When the glass started falling most of it fell inside the vehicle.falling glass caused some small nicks on the driver door.i was fortunate not to get glass in my face or eyes.some glass did get in my clothing and on my body. I still have the part for inspection. I have not contacted mitsubishi motors yet.workers at the san bernardino dealership would not comment on the number of replacement or if they were aware of the problem.

The contact owns a 2004 mitsubishi galant. The contact stated that while driving approximately 45 mph, the front driver side window became inoperable without warning. The vehicle was taken to a dealer, where it was diagnosed that the front driver side window needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired but the failure recurred. As a result, the front driver and passenger side windows failed to open or close. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 100,000. The vin was not available.
My rear left passenger window rolled itself down into the door frame. I did not roll the window down, it did it on its own. I took it to a local auto shop and was told the motor became defective.
I rolled down the front driver's side window in the morning to go through a drive thru for breakfast. When rolling the window back up, it made a screeching sound. Later that evening when i left work, the entire window was still in the frame but was completely shattered. My work reviewed security tapes for possible foul play but nobody approached my car all day. It appears the inside mechanism of the power window weakened the glass. I have filed two other complaints of how both rear windows have rolled themselves down into the door frames. There appears to be serious issues with the window motors on this vehicle and i am unable to use my windows as normal.
The right rear side passenger window rolled itself down in the door frame. I have filed a complaint about the left rear side passenger window doing the same thing. I did not have the window rolled down, it did it on its own.
I own an '04 mitsubishi galant and last october the heater stopped working for about 3 weeks and then suddenly started working again. I didn't turn the heater off for the rest of the winter in fear that it may die, again. Once again, this spring, as soon as i turned the heater off and then turned it back on, it wasn't working. I left the heater on starting the beginning of september in hopes that it would just start working on it's own, again. It's almost november and that hasn't happened.i called the local dealership to finally have it fixed correctly and the service guy told me that happens often in this model. This morning i decided to do a search on this little bit of knowledge and i have found a ton of complaints about the exact same thing.i am, obviously, still getting the repair done on monday (oct 27) but i am curious if you have encountered alot of complaints about this and if there are plans in the near future on a recall for this obvious defect.
Began having trouble with both rear windows. The windows would intermittently become unresponsive to controls both at the driver seat and the controls on the doors. Brought the car in before the warranty expired (4 yrs, 8 mos) to get windows repaired, dealer could not duplicate the errors and did not do any service on the car. Well shortly after buying the car,the drivers side rear window fell down in the door. Then a couple days ago the other rear window fell also. I'm not sure what happened, but the window wasn't even being used at the time it fell. I don't know what part inside the door went bad,but i feel it should never have done that.
In less than 2 years i've had both rear passenger windows fall 4 times unexpectedly while driving. When taken to the dealership the window regulator was replaced all 4 times.
Driving down the highway at 65 and the sunroof blew off the car.glass/brackets/inside cover.entirething just separated.thank god nobody behind me.checked with mitsubishi corporate and no help.claimed not factory installed.could not tell me if dealer installed - no info at all to track down wheninstalled/by whom/dealer/purchaser etc.should be tracked down to see if faulty and that it won't happento anybody else.repair person could only tell me: possible bracket rusted out????
