I have 2 complaints. I have a 2002 black mitsubishi galant es and like many others i see on the road and have read about on the internet. Oxydization has occurred all over my car, it started about 2 years ago and buffing and waxing does not help. Also, another problem that started about 2 years ago: when turning from air to heat or vice versa, there is a loud clicking noise and then it will turn over when it feels like. I think recently it has just given out and completely broke. I just paid this car off and am embarrassed to drive it.

Two weeks ago as i was driving to work, my galant simply stopped moving.the engine was still running, all the warning lights came on, but the car would not move.after turning it off and restarting it several times, i did get to work and had it towed to the dealership where i bought it.they kept it for 24 hours, drove it, ran some tests and told me they couldn't find anything wrong.the same thing happened yesterday, but it stopped moving five times before i could finally get to work.again i had it towed to the dealership where they had it for 30 hours; same results.i feel like i'm driving a ticking bomb--i could have been rear-ended any of the times when the car just stopped moving.i need someone to find out what's wrong and fix my car.

The flashers of my 2002 mitsubishi galant fail to work.i have changed out the fuse several times only for the flashers to fail in less than a month.the problem in itself is not absolute.i have ran over a rough area on the road and the flashers have started working again, but only for one week.i called mitsubishi (800-222-0037) on 8 aug 2005 @1:30pm at which time i gave them my name, address, telephone number and vin [xxx].i was informed that there is no recall in their data base for this particular problem.i found information on the nhtsa site (recall id: 02v147000) at which time i called to get more information and was advised to submit a complaint.updated 07/19/2012 information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6)

Air condition/ heat (blue- red) dial makes cliking sound when turning from blue to red and some times does not allow warm air to heat the car.

Two weeks ago our cars? passenger front panel started to smoke within a few minutes the engine was started. At the time it happened we did not know where the smoke was coming from.when i went to get closer to the smoke it was the panel where the window and door buttons are. The security guard in our building had a flashlight and saw the top part of the panel was melting, he was able to lift the melting plastic and inside the door the smoke and flames were. The fire extinguished and we pulled the fuse. Now we have no power windows on all so we are driving without the ability of opening the windows. Thank god we were not on the highway when it started. I called mitsubishi and they told me there were no recalls for this problem yet on your site there were two others with the same problem. Since it?s passed the warranty time they are not responsible to pay for the damages. I do understand the insurance company will pay for it but since i have a deductible of $500 i must pay for it. Mitsubishi customer service said if the insurance company finds the piece to be a defect, they would need to put in a claim for it. I don?t understand why a car of only 5 years old had this problem. I also have other problems to mention since when i looked at this site i too have a problem with clicking sound when i put on the heater. Sometimes the heater doesn?t work.this could have been a tragic situation. Does someone have to die for these problems to get fixed. I am now worry since i also have another car the same make , model and year. Please inform me what else i need to do to solve this problem. Thank you.

Airconditioning leaks from beneath glove compartment.drained twice but company will not repair if there is the presence of any outside material such as a leaf, a piece of debris that they claim is in the system.dealer repair stated that there is something in the body that is allowing debris to get in and when consumer indicated that was a car defect dealer said that there was nothing they could do.therefore, defect in body caused problem with cooling system and neither is covered by warranty. Consumer is actively seeking remedy for this problem.car handles like garbage.tires have been replaced, brakes, alignment done twice and the car pulledto the right still.after brakes were done car actually pulled more to left.the car stinks.steering said to have no problem yet see above.the car stinks.

Mitsubishi car is a 2002. I am getting no heat in my car and it seems as though there are many other people who aren't getting any heat as well. There has to be a recall or something for this...because my car is fairly new (only a couple of years old).

I have a 02 galant that with out any warning signs at all the whole carjust shut down and stopped working while driving come to find out its the engine i don't understand why because i was keeping the car up to date on services needed it would cost more than the car is worth to get fixed so for know im stuck with a monthly payment and a broke down car in my driveway.

On my 2002 mitsubishi galant with the 3.0 liter engine, the heat occasionally fails to provide warm air. The fan works, the car is at a normal running temperature, and all hoses are warm. The heater control motor is failing. The part is cheap but you have to remove most of the dash board to replace it. The dealer charges an unusually large amount to fix it, anywhere from $300 - $600.

I purchased my vehicle used from a dealership here locally, and have had problems with it ever since i bought it in late may of 2007, my brakes have started to squeak, i overheated due to either a faulty water pump and/or thermostat, and i have noticed thatthe steering pulled slightly to the right, and i put new tires on it and it was aligned before purchased. The dealership i bought it from may only be able to run a diagnostics on it, and might not have the tools to fix it. The nearest mitsubishi dealership is 180 miles away. Warranty covers water pump and a rental of up to $35 a day, but in order to get a rental, i have to get a diagnostics done to make sure it is a covered component under my warrany i won't be able to get a diagnostics ran for at least several days, leaving me without a vehicle. Dealership refused to loan a car off of the lot.

Heater not working in 2002 mitsubishi galant.

Since purchase of 2002 mitsubishi galant have had numerous problems with squeaking brakes, rotors replaced twice since purchased 7/05. Was told by dealer that squeaking was from driving habits; nothing wrong with brakes. Had to take vehicle to private mechanic. Also, problems with air conditioning. Hot air blows out bottom vents by floor. Air doesn't get cold either. Have had vehicle air conditioner charged both last spring and also this spring. Within 2 weeks air only gets semi-cool and floor vents blow really hot air at all times. This vehicle is a disgrace. More trouble than enjoyment. Only good thing is appearance and style. Mitsubishi has had numerous complaints about both the brakes and air conditioning on their 2002 galantes. Poor quality automobile.

Faulty water pump caused auto to run hot causing extensive damage to engine dealership/extended warranty wil not cover damages to engine, they only replaced water pump auto under warranty.

Heat is not working in 2002 mitsubishi galant.replaced thermostat and flushed coolant system.still no heat.heater has mad a buzzing noise when turning on for past two years.now this year no heat.i saw that many people have had this problem on mitsubishi forum website.if this is such a common problem there should be a recall.i have a 2 year old daughter and i need heat in the winter.i would like to request that there be a recall on this problem.

I have a 2002 galant, it was the first brand new car i bought for myself, the brakes squeaked the first day i've had to get the breaks done twice already and it only has 64,000 miles i've also gone through 2 sets of tires i'm about to buy new tires this week.in the last 2 months i've noticed it drives a lot harder now, there's odd noises coming out of the engine and it sounds like something is rubbing on the front tires when i drive.it pulls to the left really bad when i brake.if it's idling it sounds like it's struggling for air and shakes a little. I'm not even done paying for this car yet.

The contact owns a 2002 mitsubishi galant.the contact attempted to start the vehicle, but was unsuccessful.he towed the vehicle to the dealer and they replaced the intake manifold; however, the failure recurred eight months later.the contact took the vehicle back to the dealer and they replaced the intake manifold again.this time the repairs only lasted two months before failing again.the vehicle is currently being towed back to the dealer.the intake manifold is prone to cracking where it is connected to the throttle body.through research, the contact found this to be a very common issue with this year, make, and model vehicle.the manufacturer stated that there were no recalls.the contact believes that a recall should be issued due to the manufacturer defect.the failure mileage was 126,000 and current mileage was 147,000. I have a 2002 mitsubishi galant, the knob that controls the air temperature in the car used to make a clicking noise when being turned from cold to hot & vice versa, it stopped making that noise and now i no longer have heat.i have searched the internet high & low and have found lots of complaints that this is a well known problem for these cars and that it is the heater control motor.i was told to file a complaint about the problem.

I purchased my 2002 galant in august 05. When i first turned the dial to heat, it made a "clicking" sound and then started blowing warm air. I noticed that every time i turned the heating/cooling dial it made the "clicking" sound. In april 2006, the "clicking" sound quit and so did the heat. I took the car to a mechanic and was told it was the heater core. I purchased a heater core from the nearest mitsubishi dealer approximately 50 miles away only for the clicking sound to come back once and to find out the heater core is not the problem. The dealer will not take the $200. Part back saying mitsubishi will not accept it. I have talked to several others that own 2002 galants who have the same "clicking" sound. Corporate mitsubishi was not any help in this situation.

On febuary 16 i notice that the air was blowing out hot air i went to southlake to get my window etching security set up they said that it was fine well that was in the cold season so i had no need to use the air then atlanta expericed a couple of hot days and i need to use my air for sure then but the same thing had happen all over again so i went back to southlakemitsubishi on 03/19/02 the customer service person told me to bring it back on 03/20/02 and i left it, about 10.00 am mr. Dain jones contact me and informed me that a rock had hit my air compresser and puntured a hole in it and it was not a warranty issue i just don't belive this can happen i am not a machanic but ihave commom sense please if some one would contact me as soon as possible i would appreciate it.

I crashed my 2002 mitsubishi galant... I wanted to know if the same recall that was done on the 2003 mitsubishi galant could also be for the 2002 because my car caught on fire.

On leaving work, i filled up the gas tank. I started to drive home and my gas gauge showed near empty after 15 miles. I stopped on the side of the highway and the police officer said to get off the highway since i had a gasoline leak. I though that it was in my gas tank so i filled up to drive home.it did not seam to leak when the engine was not running. The next day i drove it to the mitsubishi dealer and a fire started in the engine compartment. I pulled over and turned off the engine. I did not want to raise the hood because the oxogen would cause a fire to envolve the entire car. I keep the hood down for about 30 minutes until there was no smoldering. I then called a tow truck to take the car to my dealer.my 2002 mitsubishi galant v6 ctz was checked out by the delor an he found that the plastic protector that covers the gas hose in the engine compartment was chewed up, he said, by a squarrel causing the gasoline to flow onto the top of the hot engine. He replaced part of the plastic protector. This problem can be repeated since this season has cold weather and animals hide in the engine compartment for heat. Luckaly there were no injuries and a major car fire was averted.

While the 2002 galant was in park and engine off , vehicle was parked in steep driveway i was fastening baby into carseat on rear passenger sideother child bumped gear shift into reverse and car engaged . I was dragged with vehicle down driveway across street into a yard and into a tree where vehicle came to rest after crashing into tree. The galants shift lock does not work the brake should have to be depressed to shift and not at all if engine is off. This needs to be investigated as this could well have been fatal. Luckily i received only a broken foot and cuts.

Severe steering vibrations at highway speeds 60mph & above.the dealer has, so far, replaced front right transaxle, balanced tires 4-times, and replaced oem goodyear eagle ls tires (205/55/16) with bridgestone potenza tires (205/55/16). However, the front tires repeatedly get out of balance every now and then, and severe steering vibrations continue at 60mph highway speed, which is creating a potential life-threatening safety hazard every time the vehicle is driven over 60-65 mph speeds.

The seat belt no longer retracts properly.i am concerned that it may no longer provide the pretension required for safe operation of the air bags.

Brakes failed to stop vehicle, hit another vehiclle then a concrete barrier.speed approximately 45 mph, both frontal airbags failed to deploy.

Car brought in for service. Brake pulsation, second time, left front wheel. Car is under 3 year 36,000 warranty. Car has 23,472 miles, warranty good till feb 27th,2005. Dealer says i need brake pads, inside pads are worn paper thin, outside pad is half life. This is the second time i brought this vehicle in for same complaint. Dealer will not cover the brake pads. Being that this problem has occurred twice, and from same side..i would believe that a malfunction of the brake caliper,or other defect has caused the abnormal wear on pads. Dealer replaced both front rotors, would not cover cost of brake pads! also requested front wheels to be balanced, dealer charged me for re-balance,but wheels were not re-balanced,hence..still have vibration.

Steering-car pulled to the right -remedy, tech said steering wheel off center, adjusted and cross rotated front tires.brakes-grinding -remedy, tech said caliper supports were faulty, replaced supports and turned rotors, they would not replace rotors.other-hood was not secure in hood latch, bounced up and down. -remedy, tech said hod latch out of adjustment, still bounced after car was picked up.

Brakes vibrate, grind, squeal and fade.mitsubishi says nothing wrong and keeps resurfacing rotors and replacing pads.first brake job was at approx. 850 miles, they said faulty caliper supports were the cause.they squeal from the moment i pick up the car from service and start to grind and pulsate religiously every 5000 miles after brake service.this vehicle has been in the shop for the same problem about seven times and they tell me that the brakes are over heating due to driving habits and local traffic.none of my other vehicles ever had issues like this driving in the same traffic.

I purchased a 2002 mitsubishi galant es from dunphy mitsubishi in havertown, pa february 18, 2002.a couple of days later my brakes started to squeak, i called dunphy mitsubishi and scheduled an appointment for service.after the service center sprayed my brakes days later they began to squeak again, i placed another call and was told by dunphy service department that their will be a remedy to solve the problem and i will receive a notice shortly.well, i still have not received a notice and my brakes continues to squeak and i'm concerned for my safety.so, i called peruzzi mitsubishi in fairless hills, pa and explained what i was told by dunphy mitsubishi and was advised that their was not a remedy and i was lied too by dunphy mitsubishi.*la

The brakes failed to stop the vehicle, which resulted in a collision, and the air bags failed to deploy.

We brought our car in 4/2002.have had problems with brakes.we are currently on our third set of pads and our second set of rotors.squeeking has been a problem along with grinding and for some reason when the brakes are depressed the steering wheel shakes.we had a mechanic look at the brakes during the last pad change and he noticed that there was a tear in the calliper system.i just thought i was the only one that was having these problems until i check it out.

Brakes are squeaking on this galant since we purchased it and my husbands cousin purchased a galant and his breaks are also squeaking.

Vehicle purchased on 2/25/02.brakes are squealing very loudly, and consumer is concerned about their effectiveness.vehicle was checked by dealer, who statedthat nothing couldbe done to stop squeaking.

Brake rotors jerk vehicle.

I continue to battle premature failure of the front brake rotors.the car is typically used with one occupant and no or very little (20lbs or less) cargo.in the approximately 20,000 miles i have owned the car, this issue has been repaired 3 times and has now failed the 4th time.it would have been repaired more times if i could afford it.more than 10,000 of these 20,000 miles have been driven with the brakes squealing or chattering.eventually the braking power fades and the steering wheel shakes too much to hold onto.while the car was under warranty, the dealer refused to do any repair covered by the warranty.the dealer would not inspect or repair the calipers in spite of the fact that the type of squealing indicated poor contact of the pads with the rotors due to sticking calipers and the fact that heat warpage of the rotors indicates sticking calipers.calipers were covered under the warranty.instead, the dealer claimed that i needed to bring the car in for rear brake adjustment at the same interval as an oil change; however, research tells me that this car has auto adjusting rear brakes!this time i took it on myself to service the front brakes as i couldn't afford to have them serviced, my wife and i were afraid to drive the car because the shaking during braking was so bad, and sears told us that rotors had worn too thin to resurface.at the time i did this service, i found the slide pins of the calipers to be badly worn.this type of failure will cause calipers to stick, prematurely wear brake pads and rotors, overheat rotors and pads causing warpage of the rotors and reduced braking power, and reduce braking power by causing the caliper to catch rather than slide on the slide pin and thereby prevent proper pressure on the brake pads.this is a failure of the caliper, which should have been easy to detect and covered under warranty, which specifically covers calipers.

I purchased my 2002 mitsubishi galant on february 2002. I have had brake problems from the 1st week i purchased it. I took the vehicle to the dealership a total of 4 times and also called numerous times that year. Every year from then, i have had brake pads put on maybe 3 times per year. Every other month, it seems as though something is going wrong with my brakes. Just last year, i had brake pads put on and also had to replace the rotors. Just today, i heard my brakes scrubbing and whistling when i'm driving. Something is definetly wrong with this vehicle.

Rear brakes make a squealing/grinding noise when braking. The dealership inspected twice. The first time they said it was built up brake dust, the sound continued after i picked it up from the dealership. Took it back and said there was nothing they could do, and they seemed to be working properly, and the only way to remedy it was to replace the pads, which is not covered by warranty.

I recently purchased a used 2002 galant. 2 days after purchase the brakes started squealing. Brake pads were replaced and 3 weeks later they started squealing again.

My vehicle has been in out of the repair shop regarding my brakes. None of the technicians at ourisman mitsubishi can identify what is causing the problem. Upon the request of the gm, i took my vehicle to them to have it inspected again. I purchased my vehicle in 2002 and in that year i have taken my vehicle to the service department to have my brakes worked on. My brakes are constantly producing a grinding noise. The grinding noise also makes my vehicle vibrate when braking. I have filed several claims regarding the issue with bbb andmisubishi has not yet performed a thorough inspection on my brakes, front and rear as promised, to determine what is causing this problem.

I have had repeated problems with my brakes.i purchased my 2002 galant es brand new in feb 2002 from garcia mitsubishi.i started experiencing problems with my brakes when the car had around 21000 miles.the brakes started squealing like a bus, so i took the vehicle into garcia mitsubishi in albuquerque, nm.i was told by the service manager my rotors were getting too hot which caused the brake pads to crystallize or glaze over.i was told to have the brake pads changed and the rotors turned.i had the brake pads replaced (with non-factory pads) and the rotors turned around 24,000 miles.my problem recurred, leading me to believe the problem did not lie with the pads.i took my galant back to the service department and was again told there was not a problem, my non-factory pads were the problem.i know this is not true because the problem originated with factory pads.i took my car to two mechanics who both said the rotors are no good and there is a high possibility of the caliper sticking.i did some research and found there are others who own the same model and year as my galant who are having similar problems.each time i have taken the car to the dealership i am told that there is nothing wrong with the car.this problem is definitely not wear and tear. Garcia mitsubishi responded to a letter i wrote and told me that they would not honor my warranty because i did not maintain my car at the dealership (oil changes, etc...).i have replaced the rotors and brake pads numerous times. The vehicle shakes when the brake is pressed.i can also smell a strong scent of burning rubber.it has been a short 4 months and they need to be replaced again.i have called 800-mitsu2002 and they accused me of being a bad driver.i have owned 5 other vehicles in the past and never have had this problem before.i am afraid of driving the vehicle because if i ever have to brake suddenly, i will not be able to.

I bought my galant in october of 2002, the first year i had the car i had to take it in for the brakes squeaking and grinding four times.each time the dealer said that there was nothing wrong, and sent me back home.i was told that it was my fault that my brakes were bad because of how i drive.i only had the car for a couple weeks when my brakes started squeeking and grinding the first time.i contacted mitsubishi, and was told that there was nothing wrong with my vehicle, and that they were not going to fix the problem.i feel like this is an unsafe car for my child to ride in because i do not know when my brakes might fail or really what is wrong with them.my engine also has a burning smell to it almost all the time, and i was told that there was nothing wrong by mitsubishi.i also have numerous friends that have galants and have the same break problems.

Rotors- i have had my car now for a year and 2 months. It was purchased brand new and the rotors have been changes twice already and probably a thrid time by next month.

My mitsubishi g is a 2002. I bought it 2/2004 from carmax! not even 3 months into driving my car, i've had brake problems which began squeaking, then grinding. Carmax changed the pads and i still had the same problem at least 3 months later! i bought 4 new tires from sears! this is not my 1st car and i know brakes should not be changed that often. I went back to the dealer 3 times since i bought my car. They are good for saying the complaints are not listed on the warranty. Oh and everytime it rains, my entire left side is drenched only on the floor! the dealer i purchased says they can't find anything wrong. Now my inside floors are getting worse. Every time it rains heavy! the mitsubishi hub caps never stay on the tires! the heating system makes noise when you turn temperature from hot to cold???? i've always thought this make car were a satisfying company. Blue book car value should really investigate the cars made by mitsubishi during the entire 2000 years! not to mention people like myself are making car payments.

Our galant has squeaking and grinding when brakes are applied.currently at 46,000 miles, and the 4th set of brakes and 2nd rotors will be installed.dealer says it is driving habits and will not fix even though i purchased extended 75,000 warranty.

Summary - vehicle steering and brakes vibrate upon braking, poor brake performance - braking distance is too long. Shoddy rotor/caliper quality. Dealerships and mitsubishi refuse to fix the problem. The car has been returned to the dealership repeatedly (5 times) to remedy the braking problem - every few months (with less than 2500 miles since the last time the rotors were replaced). The car was taken to the west broad mitsubishi dealership in richmond, va where it was determined that the problem was being caused by warped rotors. The dealer resurfaced the rotors to fix the problem. However, the problem re-occured after 7000 miles. West broad mitsubishi then claimed that they replaced the rotors. 5000 miles later, the brakes began squeeling and the vibration started again. I took the car back in to the west broad dealership and they told me that they had to replace the rotors a second time to remedy the problem. Barely 2300 miles later, the car had to be taken back to another mitsubishi dealer (stohlman) in vienna, va. The dealer told me the (new) rotors have warped and theyve had to be resurfaced. 2 weeks later (about 500 miles), the problem showed up again. At this point, i wrote a complaint letter to mitsubishi. After 4 weeks, a mitsubishi rep came to the dealership to check the problem - only to claim there was nothing worng with the car despite obvious vibration and brake squeeling. Subsequently, a quick check by a third-party mechanic revealed problems with the rotors and calipers.

Mitsubishi gallant: i bought this car pre-owned, with40k miles. I have already service my brakes about 4 times. I used have a dealer warranty, but it was useless. A mechanic that i trust told me that my rotors had to be replaced. However, he didn't advice me to replace them because it was an expensive job and there was not warranty that the car will not continue with the same problem due to factory defects. He told me to look on this page for many issues on this car. I will get rid of this car as soon as i can. I will never buy this brand of car again, i'm very disappointed.

Front brake rotors warped after 15000 miles, and the problem resurfaced again at 29000 miles along with excessive brake noise.

Ongoing- from date of purchasefails to stop even after brakes replaced.ust use brights in order to have any visibility from headlights.

Recurring and severe front brake chatter.despite repeated repair, the front brakes chatter on braking so much that the steering wheel shakes.the braking strength is substantially reduced and braking distance substantially increased.the dealer claims this is due to the rear brakes being out of adjustment causing the front brakes to work "too hard" resulting in warped rotors.they will not cover these repairs under warranty.the repair only lasts about 3000 miles at best.

My 2002 mitsubishi galant steering wheel and the entire car starts shaking when it reaches 60 and above mph.

Consumer stated the power steering pump needed to be replaced.

Paint turning white a peeling over entire vehicle.

Consumer states that the vehicle was manufactured improperly since it doesnt hane key holes to open the vehicleonthe passangerside.nlm

I bought my car brand new (02 mits. Galant - black) and the paint and clear coat has been fading.it started on the trunk in a small spot and now has spread to the roof and hood.i was told by mits. That there are no recalls, therefore they aren't able to assist me since i now have over 100,000 miles on the car.i was advised by cheryl (customer service rep) that they have a business to run and that since i'm outside of the warranty parameters they aren't able to help me. After searching the internet i've noticed that there are several consumers with the same problem.it seems that mits. Is aware of the problem, but they aren't willing to acknowledge it.

Our 2002 black mitsubishi galant has paint fading on the trunk and top.two bodyshops have told us this is common with mitsubishi due to the clear coat used.this is a well maintained car with only 70,000 miles and looks terrible.

The car started fading on the side doors. Was told by dealer that it was a complaint to the manufacturer. After the summer of last year the roof started to fade all over. There has been many complaints with this type of car owners. My father and i tried washing and waxing the car to keep from fading, but its damaged to the point where the car will need to be strip and sanded.

2002 black mitsubishi galant, it seems that all the galants for several years haveproblems with the paint..the paint its like disappearing ifyou look around and pay attention you will find a white coating coming from the primer used... I would like to know why a recall have not been issue yet.

The paint on the roof/hood of my 2002 mitsubishi galant has faded badly.i read dozens of complaints from people online who own mitsubishi galant's regarding mysterious paint problems on the hoods of their cars. Common problems reported is paint fading badly on the hood, roof, and trunk from owners who have had their car for only a few years.i've only had my car for two years and the roof of my car has faded badly through no fault of my own.these paint problems have been given completely unsatisfactory excuses by mitsubishi and as a result multiple forums and websites.mitsubishi some how neglected to add the clear coat protection to all black paint and apparently have admitted to this but have not taken any steps to remedy the situation.i believe that this matter can be brought to mitsubishi's attention via a class action suit.they should be held responsible for the products they sell.

I am owner of 2002 black mitsubishi galant with a very badly fading paint job. I am a second owner of this car(since 2006) and for the couple years the fading process has been rather dramatic and the car just looks ugly, inspite of me never having any issues with the performance of the car itself engine or otherwise.i know that there a similar black mitsubishi owners(galant, eclipse, endeavor) suffering from this issue. Hence filing my complaint requesting for some action against mitsubishi america to repair the shoddy paint job.

Clicking noise when turning the air from hot to cold or cold to hot. Clicking noise stopped and heat no longer works. I have no defrost/defog which causes problems with visibility. I am taking the car in for repairs this week. Paint faded and corroded on the hood, trunk, roof, quarter panels, and door panels in 2004. I took it to the dealership and was told they couldn't do anything about it. I have recently taken it to a body shop and had it repainted.

Car is exceptionally aerodynamically unstable.the vehicle drifts or wavers back and forth at highway speed.even light, gusty wind pulls the vehicle hard necessitating abrupt corrective maneuvers to prevent side collisions on the highway.on windy days, a gust will cause vehicle to swerve into neighboring lane without correction.

Paint fading, rusting,corrosion.

2002 mitsubishi galant has a paint defect that is seen in every black galant that is seen on the road. The manufacturer denies any responsibility.in addition the vehicle loses hub caps constantly. This can also be seen in almost every galant on the road manufactured around those years.

My 2002 silver mitsubishi galant gtz looks horrible.noticing after the car was purchased that the car did not have any real shine to it.tried waxing and still looked bad.even running you hands over itdoes not feel smooth.well in 2007 i noticed blotchy spots all over it no looks like the paint is gone completely.i actually paid extra for the clear coat protection and undercoating innercoating when purchased new.it's as if it showed up as soon as the warranty expired.no one can give me any information and i think i may get a lawyer too.as i read more complaints about this problem, the more and more ticked i am!

Paint defect leads t rapid oxidation and rusting of car.

Paint on front area of roof and rear deck lid is cracked and coming off.

I bought a 2002 mitsubishi galant i took care of it by keeping it washed and waxed and after 6 months i had the car i started to see some spots on my car starting to fade,a year later it looked as if i had my car for about 8 years because the paint job is really bad. I see alot of cars daily that looks like mine and i know that there was a problem with the paint that mitsubishi used to paint these cars but they aren't doing anything about it and i think that that is wrong. There are hundreds of galants out there maybe more and they act as if nothings wrong, i feel like there wrong and they know it they just don't want to do anything about it and i'm clearly tired of it and think someone should do something about it. It doesn't make any sense to me because i can understand maybe 1 or 10 cars but we are talking about a whole lot more then that and if they're not going to own it to there responsibility than i think i need to get me a lawyer and let him take over mine and everyone else's case.

The drivers side floor is constantly wet in my 2001 galant. It started happening in the last 3 months. I checked the underside of the car and do not see any holes; the undercarriage coating looks fine. There is a little supportbeam under the floor board of the car that i can not peer into. The fluid does not appear to be coolant. It does not look or smell like coolant.

I have a 2002 galant, and at 30,000mils, i had to replace the front brake rotors, and the brake pads. I was told it's not covered under the warranty terms. There's severe vibrations, and rotational noisenoticed when driving at 60mph and above, and i took the car back to the dealer, they told me they repacked my bearings, but the noise and vibrations still continue to surface. Although the dealership tried to help me, while the cars is still under warranty, but i don't think they know the problems themself.

Severe vibrations are felt on the steering wheel beginningover the speed of 60 mph and gradually increasing over 70 mph whichmay increase the risk of motor vehicle hazard to the vehicleoccupants especaially driver.the vibrations are maximum at a steady speed of 65 to 70 mph on a newly constructed highway preferably with smooth surface. Steering vibrations decreases when driving onhighways with rough surfaces and when accelerating the car, that is when stepping over the gas pedal. However, over a smooth surface highway, steering vibrations are severe when accelerating over 65-75 mph and decelarating upto 65-75 mph and maintain a steady speed at 70mph with slight variations. Severe steering wheel vibrations are felt highest at the top of steering (also apparent visually and felt on hands) and graduallydecreasing towards the base (bottom)of the steering wheel.

My 2002 mitsubishi galant steering wheel and the entire car starts shaking when it reaches 60 and above mph.

1) 2002 galant with front suspension rattle.(just 4,000 miles outside of warranty.)2) diagnosis, excessive play in front-right suspension stabilizer link joint, part no. Mr333763 (old part is available).premature failure due to inferior quality of plastic socket in joint!3) mitsubishi dealership refused to extend warranty coverage of part despite unusal failure.

The fans makes noise and there is no a/c - heat.dealership says that it may be the heater control unit.searched the web and alot of mits. Galants are having this same problem.

Engine light keeps coming on, and each timeconsumer takes vehicle back to dealer. Engine lightcomes back on inside 48 hours.

I purchased my car in 03'. I own a 2002 mitsubishi galant which has oxidation (fading paint) on the roof and side panels. The oxidation started in 04'. The dealership has refused to fix the problem.

Own a 2002 mit. Galant es v6... Heater control motor is bad dealer want 450 dollars to replace got online and this is a production problem. Many others with 02-03 galants have this problem.. This is very unsafe due to defrost not working proper and this could cause people to crash and die.....

Mitsubishi galant es, has a problem with the heat/ac control, makes a grinding noise, it also locks into a position which only allows cold air to be vented...bad if it's cold outside. Mitsubishi won't replace the defected parts, they ask the customer to pay for parts and labor. The problem began while under warranty but was never replaced.

A/c heater blend motor worn out. Very expensive to repair, because the whole dashboard has to be ripped apart.

No heat.went to niagara falls in the end of april 2005 and was stuck with no heat on a frigid rainy night.due to the lack of heat, the windows could not be properly defogged and passenger compartment was dangerously cold.one occupant became ill (minor).while openning the windows a crack helped, the windshield still fogged.the windows could not be openned much due to the rain and cold.luckily a napkin was available to wipe the windshield , otherwise we may have been unable to drive and stranded on a remote stretch of highway.the mileage was about 35,000 mi.

I bought the car, an 02 mitsubishi galant from a private owner who pointed out to me the knocking sound in the dash when switching from cold to hot air.a friend of mine has the same car and the same problem.yesterday mine stopped knocking and blowing any hot air at all.it sounds online like many people has been mistreated by the dealership in regard to this matter.now i don't know what to do, because i have to have at least defrost in my commuter car!please review this chronic problem with this model.

As seen several times on this complaint page my mitsubishi galant 2002 models heater has gone out do to what i do not know. I also had a clicking noise when i would turn the dial from cold to hot. Then finally about 6 months ago it just stopped and since have notheat to come back on!

Heat stopped working.. Control moter for the heater core.

Mitsubishi heater core leaking all over. Carpet soaking wet!!

Heater no longer works.

2002 mitsubishi galant 3.0 v6, heater control motor failed after only 5 years of service. Also, speedometer was consistantly 4 mph fas, always has been.

The fans makes noise and there is no a/c - heat.dealership says that it may be the heater control unit.searched the web and alot of mits. Galants are having this same problem.

2002 mitshubishi galant- heat stopped working at 75,000 miles.when turning on heat car began making a "gargling" noise and then eventually stopped working all together. A/c works fine just the heat will not come on!

The heater control motor on my car has failed twice since i bought the car a year and a half ago.

About three years ago i got this clicking noise behind my dash and my heat quit working. Well if it would click again it would work. Well it finally quit working all together and after doing some research mitsubishi seems to be putting bad heat control motors in their cars. My car 2002 and it started this in 2004. As much as i've paid for this car this is unacceptable. This is not a cheap part to have fixed as i have found from my research. It would be one thing if i was the only one it happened to but it seems to be a problem with mitsubishis and i believe they should have to replace their faulty part. Thank you!

No heat coming from heater.fan still works, but no heat.clicking noise from dashboard preceded failure of heater.taking car to mechanic for diagnosis/repair.

Thank you.

Heater no longer works.

The contact owns a 2002 mitsubishi galant.the contact stated that thepassenger side power window failed intermittently.in addition, the horn would engage sporadically and would not stop. The manufacturer and dealer were notified of the failure, but denied any assistance with repairs.the vehicle was not repaired.the failure mileage was 100,000 and the current mileage 110,218.

2002 mitsubishi galant has a paint defect that is seen in every black galant that is seen on the road. The manufacturer denies any responsibility.in addition the vehicle loses hub caps constantly. This can also be seen in almost every galant on the road manufactured around those years.

Faulty wheels (rims), on the date specified the local dealership where my vehicle was being serviced noticed that the after market wheel that mitsubishi placed on the vehicle was not fitting properly and the lug nuts were not lined up properly on the rim holes, the dealership said this may explain some of the shaking in the wheels when braking as the rotors looked fine, when attempting to speak with the dealership that sold the vehicle they sad oh well its been two and a half years what do you expect us to do about it. I feel this is an important fact to get out as there may be other owners of this product out there that are unaware of this and i am not sure of any issues reported thus far on this but something should be done to warn or notify these owners.

While driving, 2 lug nuts broke off. The dealer replaced all 4 lug nuts *ph
