I was leaving my driveway and something popped and hit me in the right eye.after stopping car on the side of the street,i heard more popping sounds and a piece of the dash hit the windshield. After looking at the dash i found 4cracks in the dash material, 2 of the vent grates had popped off. This could have caused me to have an accident if i was in a more congested area at the time. I have had to put tape onto the dash to keep from more pieces from hitting me or my occupants.
On the morning of march 3, 2011 i was involved in a wreck, slamming into a chevrolet cobalt which was later cited for failure to yield. I was driving a 2001 mitsubishi eclipse gt convertible at the posted speed of 45 mph. I slid approximately 8 feet before hitting the passenger side door of the cobalt. My airbags did not deploy at the time of the crash, or even afterward for that matter. The frame in the front is bent significantly higher than its previous arrangement, and is being found as a total loss. I plan on pursuing legal action because of the faulty making of this vehicle.

My daughter had an accident on a rainy day, tire got caught in water, lost control, hit a guard and hit a traffic light poll and a utility poll.the front airbag didn't get deploy.
Hit head on by another vehicle going 35 mph. I was going 20 mph.front airbags did not go off in my 2001 mitsubishi eclipse spyder. *nlm
Consumerhit another vehicle at 40 mph and neither airbag deployed, front crash. No injuries.
Srs light comes on/stays on - dealership states right passenger side airbag has to be replaced due to design flaw, not enough resistance on the wiring. Another car (same make/model) in that day had 2 airbags replaced for the same problem

The contact owns a 2001 mitsubishi eclipse spyder. The contact stated that the vehicle was taken to the dealer for a tune up and the failure codes for p0301, p0401, and the egr appeared. The codes were cleared, but the p0301 failure code reappeared. The vehicle was repaired; however, the vehicle was later taken in for smog inspection and failed. The vehicle was diagnosed for egr failure. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic. The technician repaired the problem, however, the failure persisted. The vehicle was taken back to a dealer but the failure was unable to be duplicated. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 315,000.
The contact owns a 2001 mitsubishi eclipse spyder. After parking her vehicle, she was unable to restart it. The vehicle was towed to the dealer and they stated that the harness for the crankshaft position sensor needed to be replaced. The manufacturer stated that the existing recall applied to 2.4 engines not 3.0. The contact stated that recall number 00v299001 does not stipulate the engine size. The failure mileage was 87,334.updated 5/26/09 the consumer mentioned recall# 99v333001, but was told his/her vehicle was not included in the recall due to the manufactured date. Updated 05/28/09.
The headlight plug is subject to repeated burning or corrosion of the connection.this normally results in a substantial loss of light output.the plastic plug is also melted, causing a concern for fire.
- the contact called regardingthe2001 mitsubishi eclipse spyder.the contact stated that while driving at55 mphthesupport bolt came out.the vehicle started to vibrate and madenoise. Thecheck engine light turned on.the contact took the vehicle to a mitsubishi dealer, and the vehicle was diagnosed as needing a tune up.the contact was toldthe vehicle needed a new crank shaft sensor, that the one in the vehicle was worn out.the failure mileage was 100,000.the contacthas not had the sensor replaced.
The contact owns a 2001 mitsubishi eclipse spyder. The contact stated that the vehicle was hesitant to start and exhibited an overpowering gasoline odor. When the vehicle was able to be started, it would sputter and stall sporadically. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, but the dealer could not determine what caused the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 120,000 and the current mileage was 127,000.
When i first purchased this vehicle from the dealer 6/2001 i had to take it back 2 times due to the defect of the hose hooked to the radiator, they repaired it under warrany, and now it has occurred again which all mitsubishi dealers tell me because it is not under warranty and not on the recall list there is nothing they can do.i just got done putting brand new sway bar links on the car, and paid 350.00 to do this in which they told me should never occurred on this new of a car.i feel since i reported the problems with the noise from the first week i got the car all the way until recent when i fixed it, they overlooked it and ignored the problem which could have cost me and my son our lives.i feel mitsubishi should cover these things since there is proof i took it in over 13 times for the same complaint noise under the car (sway bar links) and radiator fluid leaking all over the engine and burning. Please note this has been occuring since 7/2001 the month and year i have marked below are for the defective hoses on my radiator causing fluid to leak all over the engine and burn and this was verified on this date below by a professional shop.this has not caught fire yet but smoke comes from under the hood of the car all the time after it has been running.

The headlight plug burned the connection. Thisresulted in a substantial loss of light output/ no headlights. The plastic plug is also melted, causing a concern for fire and appearing that a small fire may have happened.
Clear headlight covers are slowly becoming covered with residue to the point that it is noticeable when lights are shining on something white (garage door, rear of semi truck, new concrete, etc).mitsubishi refuses to admit that the covers are not properly sealed.since they are never open at night, they never test drive the vehicle at night.service manager admits that the covers are building up a residue, but says it does not impair visibility.1. It is very distracting and 2. It looks terrible!i've noticed that i am not the only one with the problem.several more used eclipses on their used lot had the same probolem the last time i was there.
One afternoon i got into my car and started it up, when suddenly i saw smoke arise from the front of my engine and smelled a sweet smell, but the smoke and smell soon dissipated, however i then noticed that my driver's side headlight was going dim and shortly thereafter i had no headlights!i am currently without headlights making it difficult to go to and from work.we have not tried to repair this ourselves because we did not know what the problem was.we checked the fuses and the bulbs which all seem to be normal.all the old parts are still on the car, however, the connector to the driver's side headlight had partially melted.

The fuel filler neck rusts severely around the passenger rear tire causing large amounts of fuel to leak on the ground and gasoline vapors to escape. The filler neck assembly is constructed out of metal and includes a large tube/pipe for the fuel to enter the gas tank, as well as several other smaller metal pipes. The filler neck assembly extends from the filler door, which is situated in the rear passenger quarter panel, down and across to the fuel tank which is situated in the undercarriage. There is a particular point where the pipes in the assembly make an approximately 45 degree bend, moving from a downward angle to an angle that is more parallel with the ground. At this bend or elbow, the manufacturer placed a thick metal shield, presumably to protect a weak point. The shield bolts to the body of the car in four places and cups the fuel pipes in a semi-circle around the bend leaving an approximately one-half inch gap between the pipes and the shield. This shield and pipe assembly is situated directly behind and slightly inboard of the rear passenger tire, however, it remains exposed. Because of the gap between the pipes and the shield, and because of the way the shield is angled upwards, and because there is no cover or other protective device to seal this gap, the shield collects dirt, debris, grease, and moisture. Presumably, the rear tire throws this foreign material around which then collects in the shield, builds up, and contacts the pipes, causing them to rust. Eventually the pipes rust completely through causing fuel to leak on the ground whenever the vehicle is refueled. The holes in the pipes also allow gasoline vapors to escape and impairs the evap system. Despite the buildup and continual contact of foreign material in the shield, the shield itself did not rust at all creating a perfect collector to gather foreign material and cause the rust to form.
While driving from the highway on an off ramp at 50 mph, engine (rpm) started bogging down, then both front tires locked up to a screeching halt. I almost slide off the ramp and almost got rear ended by a semi truck behind me. Front tires were locked up, would not move out of the road and would not come out of gear. Had it towed to repair shop and was quoted $3,000 just to pull the transmission for diagnostics. Was told transmission failed and vehicle would not be worth the money to fix because front strut towers both were rusted. Had vehicle towed home and i will try to perform the repair myself.
The clutch is wearing out fast, it seems every 1500 miles a new clutch is needed, to me it the horsepower of the engine can only be brought to the road at the expense of excessive flywheel and clutch wear.
The contact owns a 2001 mitsubishi eclipse spyder. The contact stated that the transmission failed due to an internal spring fracturing. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who rebuilt the transmission. The vehicle was not included in nhtsa campaign number:01v011001 (power train). The dealer and manufacturer had been notified of the failure and indicated that there was no service campaign and recall to provide a solution. The failure mileage was not available.
The contact owns a 2001 mitsubishi eclipse spyder. The contact stated that while driving at speeds of 50 mph, the transmission failed. He was able to move the vehicle off of the road and the vehicle was towed to the dealer. The dealer stated that the transmission was contaminated and needed to be replaced. The vehicle had not been repaired when the complaint was filed. The failure and current mileages were approximately 106,000.
On 2/21/10early sunday morning i was driving on the freeway at approx. 55mi/hr when my mitsubishi eclipse just stopped.it would not go forwards or backwards.there was no noise or sound of any kind to indicate something was wrong. I had to coast to the side of the freeway and sat there for 3 1/2 hrs for a tow truck. Car was taken to south park mitsubishi in bethel park.it was diagnosed as a total transmission failure and needed to be replaced.my car had only 57183 miles and i wanted the transmission rebuilt.they would not do that. I had the car towed to aamco.i read on line complaints about the transmission used in my car and also certain chrysler models with a defective "wave spring" that breaks suddenly and caused catastrophic failure in the transmission.i asked aamco to save all broken parts. The wave spring broke, went through the pump, and broke the gears just as described in the article "mitsubishi f4a51 automatic transmission hazard problem".this problem was well known by mitsubishi because the wave spring was redesignedbut took no action to notify owners of the hazard that existed. By swapping out a rebuilt transmission, the mitsubishi dealer doesnot make the customer aware of the problem and just assumes the transmission went bad and needed replaced therefore not making the actual problem well known.i should have been notified of the problem and had the part replaced with the new designed wave spring.this action would have saved me a lot of money and not put myself and others in danger of harm or death.mitsubishi knew of the problem and did nothing, they need to take responsibility for their error and make other owners aware so that the problem can be resolved before someone gets killed.they can not stand behind their claim that the car is out of warranty because this is not a just wear and tearcase.it is a defect and i want other owners of cars with this defective part notified and my expenses reimbursed.
Transmission has been jumping and slipping since purchase. The dealer from whom i purchased has gone out of business.
I had to bring in my 2001 mitsubishi eclipse spyder gs to a mechanic due to an apparent leakage.the mechanic said that car was under a recall which he printed for me.it is 01v011001:automatic transaxle hose assembly which is the exact problem i am having.mitsubishi refuses to make the repair and says my particular car is not included in the recall.i don't understand how this could be if my mechanic pulled it from the nhtsa bulletin.
The shifting knob on the mitsubishi eclipse spyder loosens over a short period of time causing the shifting knob to come free of the shifter. Leaving the driver without the capability or shifting control of the metal shaft. The driver must then try and slow to a stop and re-install the shifting knob. This has happened several times with the dealer installing new screws, which work free within a week or so. The dealer has been unable to stop the problem from recurring.
Left rear wheel hardware attaching the wheel, backing plate, brake calipers to rear axle failed. There were four attaching bolts that sheared off under stress of crash avoidance that caused the rear wheel to fall off and lose contro of the vehicle.
Since i purchased my car back in november of 2001, a 2001 mitsubishi spyder gt, i have had problems with my clutch slipping when starting in 1st gear, with extreme stuttering and shuttering of my vehicle and have informed my dealerships (woburn mitsubishi woburn, ma and peter fuller-watertown ma) of the problems in writing.they all blow me off telling me that nothing could be wrong this early on, with so few miles on the car. Well the car is still stuttering, even has stalled out, even when giving plenty of gas.if this were to happen over train tracks, in the middle of an intersection, etc. I would be involved in a major accident threatening myself and my passenger(s). Because i have brought this up to the attention of my dealer before i even hit 10k, and have brought this up at each subsequent major vehicle service time, and i now have 38k on my warranty has expired with no help.its like the dealerships haven't even called the technical support hotline to verify that this is a known problem. This is neglect on the part of the dealerships and on the part of mitsubishi trained professionals, and if no warning has been put out then it is also mitsubishi motors itself that should be held responsible for any related injuries.the stuttering of the car happens to this day, cold warm, it doesn't matter. I've been driving a stick since i was 16, and i've never seen this occur on any other vehicles.
After 39,000 miles on my 2001 mitsubishi eclipse spyder, the manual transmission is experiencing problems.specifically, the car has trouble shifting into first and second gears (worst when cold), studders when first accelerating, and makes a continuous rattling noise when the clutch is not engaged.these problems are apparently the result of a defect in the transmission involving the clutch plate/throw-out-bearings/synchronizers.i have learned of hundreds of other people who have the same problem, same symptoms, and same cause.mitsubishi should issue a recall for this problem but has not done so.

My wife and i were driving on the highway and the right molding on the front window flew off the car.(it is called thea pillar.) it shot back, banging against the side of the car dented the door. When we got to our destination i looked and the bolts were still in the frame, but the molding was gone. The next day i went to the dealer (coconut creek mitsubishi in coconut creek, florida) to ask if this was normal. They of course said no. I asked what they would do to get it replaced. Their first response was to sell me a new one at a cost of $163.70 plus tax, but they would install it for free because they admitted that this should not happen. A week later i spoke to the service manager michael see at coconut creek mitsubishi and find out what the factory rep told him. Michael told me that john hackworth the factory rep said i'm not going to do anything. The factory rep never looked at the car or inspected the bolts to see why the molding flew off. He heard the age of the car and the mileage and that was the basis for his final decision. The story that michael see and the assistant manager of the dealership stanly anders keep telling me is that the car is six years old and has 95,000 miles on it and things break. First mr. Anders said that it was normal wear and tear. The fact that the factory rep never called to look at the vehicle and inspect the bolts to see what happened, in my opinion is unacceptable. The fact that mitsubishi motors of north america has no influence over the decisions of a factory rep is absurd. In addition, the dashboard is slowly falling apart. The dashboard had approximately seven cracks in it when i purchased the car. The dealer said that this is normal on convertibles and that they will not replace it. Your car, your problem we did more then enough for a used car. Today there are about eleven or twelve cracks and i suppose that one day it will just fall apart completely, but according to the dealer, that's normal.
Bought my car used with cracks in the dash.since i have owned the car, three more cracks have shown.
My dash on my 2001 mitsubishi eclipse spider gt is cracking.i have talked to many other people who say this is all happening to them also.this is a manufactures defect that needs to be fixed!!
I. The events leading up to the failure are:1. I washed and waxed my car on a regular basis.2. I drove my car on the highway at a speed of approximately 70 miles per hour.ii. Failure and its consequences:1. The passenger side molding on the front windshield officially called the a pillar separated form the bolts which held it to the frame of the car and flew off striking and denting the passenger door. 2. The bolds that held this molding to the frame are still attached to the car showing that there was abreakdown of the adhesive material that originally held this part to the bolts.iii. What was done to correct the failure? nothing1. After going to the dealer, they contacted the factory representative, nothing was done.2. After speaking to a customer service representative from mitsubishi motors of north america, nothing was done.3. After writing to the president of mitsubishi motors of north america on september 24, 2007, i heard nothing.4. On october 8, 2007, i sent a second letter to the president of mitsubishi motors of north america and members of the board of directors. I coincidentally received a call from the customer service representative from mitsubishi motors of north america the same day who said that my situation had been reviewed and the decision was the same. To do nothing.5. I have written to the president again on october 10, 2007. As of today i have not heard from anyone. 6. To this day no one, including the factory representative, has inspected my vehicle to see what caused this failure.
Seals around the convertible top leak when driving in heavy rain. Water runs down into the dashboard and causes intermittent electrical problems such as dash lights turning on and off and radio/stereo/cd malfunction.the problem was repaired once by the dealer and the radio/cd unit replaced another time because of leak problems.now the problem has returned with water on the dash and floorboards and the radio has again malfunctioned.*nlm
Body paint on hood and trunk are deteriorating to the point that there are huge white patches showing through the black paint. The vehicle has been washed and waxed at least once a month for the past 6 years. The paint was obviously defective when it was applied to the vehicle in the factory. I contacted mitsubishi and they declined to take action.
Every time there is a heavy rain my car leaks onto the drivers side floor board.this is not a little water its more like putting your feet into a lake.i believe the water is coming though the outside vent by the windshield wipers since the water is running down the inside wall.it does not appear to be coming in though the roof.
Vehicle stated clearly on window sticker that vehicle included a stainless steel exhaust system. The entire system is now rusting.
Consumer is concerned with the presence of excessive amounts of mold in the doors of the vehicle.*mr
Consumer feels a vibration in the vehicle at speeds higher than 45 mph and at time is felt at low speeds.when the car goes over small bumps it feels like it's going to fall apart and sometimes a loss of control occurs.nlm
I have replaced one front wheel at my cost due to the edge bending enought that it would not hold air.i have also had 2 more rims repaired, again at my cost, for similar reason.the front suspension on the spyder does not tolerate normal wear and tear for average roads.mitsubishi has refused to admit that the design of the vehicle or the wheel could be at fault for repeated failure.

Have a popping sound from the front of my car.this occurs under different situations such as reversing, moving forward and turning.took car in to mitsubishi and they put a rubber cover around the coils per a tsb.still have problem.when i took it back in to mitsubishi.they said they couldn't duplicate it.took test drive and couldn't duplicate.problem is i can have it one day and not the other.don't know what is causing it but the popping is sometimes very loud that i think the front end is going to fall apart.dt
Went over a railroad crossing in red bank nj. Rim and tire had to be replaced.
Flat tire, manhattan ny 49th street. Slight rim damaged, rim banged out.
Hit a pothole on rt 80 in penn. Rim and tire had to be replaced.
I have a 2001 mits eclipse spyder convertible. I have had problems with leaks since i bought the car in 2005. Had it fixed once now the car leaks from all over into my floor boards front and back. My radio has malfunctioned. The car is becoming undrivable due to the flooding. Ihave insurance which will not cover this and mitsubishi will not fix it without paying more than the car is owed.
The contact owns a 2001 mitsubishi eclipse spyder. While driving approximately 30 mph, the drivers side sun visor opened independently and struck the contact on the bridge of her nose, breaking her glasses. The contact pulled over and repositioned the sun visor back on the clips. The contact sustained injuries that required medical attention. The failure recurred on several occasions on the driver and passenger side sun visors. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and stated that nhtsa campaign number: 15v338000 (air bags) did not include the driver side sun visor. The approximate failure mileage was 125,000.

Convertible top around back glass window in convertible top of my 2001 mitsubishi spyder eclipse is comming apart.window is getting ready to fall out.upon callinga repair shop, bay auto glass in daphne alabama, they tell me they see this a lot in this car and the only way to fix it is to replace the whole convertible top estimate of $1050.00!!window could infact come loose while driving - where it would go or damage it would do, i do not know.if someone was riding in the back seat - i suppose it could hit them in the head or face or fly out and hit a vehicle following.

My front and rear wheels are bent. These wheels are alloy wheels and i have not collided with anyone, nor have i driven the wheels over any potholes or any such thing. I am surprised the wheels bent so easily. It's only been like 10000 miles.
Tires will not hold air. Though my car is a 2001 i only have 34k miles on it. Tonight, while driving, the right front passenger side went flat while driving, and the tire came off the rim. The tires have always lost air, to the point that they have to be checked and filled every few months. Definitely a mfg defect and safety issue.
Was driving and as i was turning the steering wheel locked up.
Rims on 2001 mitsubishi eclipse weak, very carefully drove, had to replace one rim and others are all bent.
Went off road, back left wheel cracked.
I purchased a 2001 mitsibishi eclipse spyder.all four of the wheels have been bent from normal highway driving.i have had two tires blow out due to their loosing air and heating up.it appears that the aluminum wheels are too soft and bend too easily.
Consumertook the vehicle to the dealer for a routine check up, andmechanicdeterminedtha driver's rear wheel broke, and replaced it.
From the time i purchased my 2001 mitsubishi eclipse spyder gt in june of 2000 until i traded it in may of 2002, i had to replace 5 bent wheels/rims at my own expense. Each wheel cost $249 plus installation & tax. My local mitsubishi dealership told me that although my car was still under warranty-the wheels were not covered. I could not have driven the car more carefully to avoid the bent rims. When i no longer had confidence in the safety of my vehicle, i traded it at a loss. There is no reason a $28000 vehicle should have wheel issues without mitsubishi taking responsibility. I did not choose the wheel supplier, they did. When i called the customer relations department in ca, they were even less helpful than my local dealership. Again, they reiterated that the wheels were my problem and not theirs. The incident date is not correct. As i stated above, the bent wheels occurred throughout my ownership of the 2001 spyder gt.
All chrome wheels have bent due to inferior manufacturing.
I wish to file a defective compaint. My compaint is for rims on a 2001 mitsubishi eclipse spyder. All four rims are defective. They all are bent. They are very weak rims. I asked my local mitusbishi dealer if there was a recall on them. They said that they have been getting numerous complaints but the company will not replace them or have them fixed.
2001 mitsubishi eclipse spyder gt: passenger side front rim bent out of shape to the degree that the tire, which mitsubishi dealership inspected and found no puncture and no indication of having been run while flat--lost its air seal and went flat.upon dealer inspection, it was determined that impact damage from a suspected pothole caused the rim damage.there is a total of three dents from what mitsubishi has determined are separate impact incidents from "potholes".no damage on other three rims, all of which have 18000 miles of driving rotated by mitsubishi using factory recommended schedule.dealer refuses to replace this obviously defective and unsafe rim.
In the past 2 years , there have been 4 separate occasions where the rims bend very easily out of shape for no apparent reason, and then the tires begin to lose air slowly and cannot hold its proper air/tire ratio amount thereby causing driving to be dangerous because tires do not remain properly inflated.
The 17 inch rims on my 2001 mitsubishi eclipse spyder gt have become bent and disfigured from normal use, and i am seeking compensation from mitsubishi motors of america pending the replacement of the rims.
Tire lost inflation during highway driving, due to a bent wheel.i did not realize i had a bent wheel, due to no memory of any significant incident regarding the tires and wheels.i was sent in a very rough ride after tire blew out due to the under-inflation.i was left out in the middle of binghamton and syracuse ny in the middle of nowhere.mitsubishi diamond care service replaced with donut/spare.bought new tires for my trip back and it happened again on highway.police also helped locate my car for diamond care to send help.
Two front rims have bent and split and have caused the tire to loose seal and tire to wear unnaturally. I had to replace the two rims and two tires.
I purchased a 2001 mitsubishi eclipse spyder gt convertible on november 24, 2003.when i purchased this car, the right front rim was significantly bent.this defect could lead to failure of the rim and catastrophic damage to the vehicle and occupants if this occurred at higher speeds.
Flat tire, manhattan ny 49th street. Slight rim damaged, rim banged out.
I wish to file a defective compaint. My compaint is for rims on a 2001 mitsubishi eclipse spyder. Three of the four rims are defective. They all are bent. They are very weak rims that have obviously dented due to normal wear and tear. I asked my local mitusbishi dealer if there was a recall on them. They said that they have been getting numerous complaints but the company will not replace them or have them fixed.
The aluminum wheels on the 2001 mitsubishi eclipse spyder dent almost everytime a minor pothole or railroad tracks are ridden over.i have had to remold the rims 5 times since purchasing the car less than two years ago.these rims should be recalled from mitsubishi.from all the remolding of the rims, now i have tire pressure problems.this is a serious problem that needs to be addressed. *nlm
Hit a pothole on rt 80 in penn. Rim and tire had to be replaced.
I've owned my 2001 eclipse gt spyder for a yesr and a half now and i've been having ongoing trouble with the rims bending. In fact when i bought the car there was a bend in the front rim that i made the dealer aware of and they sent the car out to have it fixed. I wish i had taken that as an omen and steered clear of buying the car. I've been driving these new england roads and highways for 15 years now and have never seen a rim bend so easy.
Front right aluminum wheel rim is dented badly in two places as a result of normal road conditions such as minor potholes or other road conditions such as rough railroad crossings.i am very very careful with this car (50 yrs old) and have never abused it but the wheels seem to bottom out or deflate easily and dent the rims under conditions that would never affect another car other than this one.i feel unsafe driving the car now with the damaged rims.not sure whether the warranty will cover the rim replacement.*nlm
- the contact owns a 2001 mitsubishi eclipse spyder with an odometer reading of 100,000.the contact stated that ifvehicle hit the smallest of pot holes, at any speed the rim will bend, both on the inside and out side.the contacthad 2 of the rims replaced andtwo of the tires as well.on five occasions the rims were repaired. The contacthas repair orders, and will have pictures of the latest failure.
Damaged alloy wheels on mitsubishi eclipse spyder (17 inch, 6 spoke).i read the postings from last year tonight on your site after i had my second experience with this problem.last winter i hit a pothole and it completely split my rim.the vehicle maintained stability and i was able to limp back home (about a half mile) but the rim was cracked all the way to the spokes from the lip.tonight (snowstorm in va/dc area) my wife dropped me off at the office and went shopping.on her way to pick me up the tire suddenly went flat.she was able to limp into a service station where she noticed the tire would not hold air so she had to change the tire in snow/ice/freezing temperatures.upon further investigation, there were three large dents in the rim at the lip.this is the second rim i am going to have to replace and they are not cheap (about $350 each).i know they said the investigation was closed, but is there something that can be done about this.there is obviously a flaw in the manufacturing of this wheel.
Went over a railroad crossing in red bank nj. Rim and tire had to be replaced.
2001 mitsubishi eclipse spyder bent rims and blew tires.
There have been at least 3 instances in which the rims on my 2001 mitsubishi eclipse have broken or denteddue to driving over minor bumps in the road or small potholes.this has resulted in my loss of control of the car in one instance, and could have potentially been an extremely dangerous situation.i have replaced my rims and tires twice because of this issue.
Defective rims.mr
Front driver's side tire was low, took off tire to have it checked for a leak. Consumer then noticedinside lip of rim was broken, 9 inches long. Mitsubishi refused to replace rim.
Wheels bend and tires blow out repeatedly.wheels are obviously defective.
Car has about 30000 miles, owner went out to look at car this morning and found that front passenger's side tire is completely flat and rim is severely dented.owner does not recall hitting anything that would have dented rim.front driver's side rim was minorly dented on pothole about six weeks ago, suspected to have caused slow leak in tire, but owner was not going to report until second rim dented without apparent cause.two rims now need replaced; neither front tire holds air securely.both rims visibly damaged, incurring financial expense and causing distress to owner because incident happened out of town on christmas morning the day before she was scheduled to make eight-hour return trip to columbus from philadelphia, rendering the car undrivable.tires might also need replaced if damage to them has occured.rims and tires have not been repaired or replaced yet because owner filed complaint immediately after discovering damage.
Whiledriving on highway in rush hour traffic, doing 40 mph.hit pot hole, and felt something not right.found that the rim was bent, and the tire had immediately deflated.left on side of road, had to drive 90 miles home on a donut.this is the second time this has happened in a year.
17 inch rimsare brittle, and when the vehicle approaches a bend or dip in the road, the tire separates from the rim, allowing air to escape. Vehicle has been back to the dealer for an evaluation, and was told that they found no defect. It was probably the road conditions. Dealer was not acknowledging any defect.the rims would bend under normal road conditions.they were very soft when going over small bumps or potholes, even at reasonable speeds.the rims have been repaired 4 times and replaced 2 tires. *sc
