Failure on the driver and passenger side air bags, consumer was invovled in an accident and the driver and passenger side air bags did not deploy.
Consumer was driving on the main road at approximately 25 mph when another driver ran a stop sign and hit consumer's vehicle on the passenger side, causing consumer's airbag to deploy on passenger's side only. Driver airbag did not deploy. Dealer/mfr. Notified and refused to accept responsibility for the falsely deployed airbag.

Sputtering, staling, no pick up, erractic idling. All caused by faulty engine control management ( ecm) computer..many close call , near accidents. Check the cars forums, there are many complaints with the exact same safety problem, in which mitsubishi is responsible for. Used car computers , mainly 1991 to 1995 , are sold with the same problem that their current one has. Owners throwing their money away on unknologable mechanics. Please before the owners like myself get injured from a stalling vehicle, check into this situation. Thank you.

The contact owns a 1995 mitsubishi 3000gt.while entering the vehicle, the contact noticed oil on the ground underneath the vehicle.upon further investigation, he determined that the oil transfer case was failing.the vehicle was taken to the dealer for further inspection.the dealer refused to inspect the vehicle and stated that it had previously been repaired under recall for the oil transfer case.the contact was informed that he would be responsible for any additional expenses.the contact called the manufacturer and was advised to take the vehicle to the dealer for further inspection.the contact feels that the part that was replaced during the recall repair was defective and needs to be replaced again.the vehicle has not been repaired.the nhtsa campaign id number was unknown.the failure and current mileages were 105,400.
Air conditioner compressor failure.
Air intake system designed too low to ground, allowing it to suck water into the engine, thereby stalling the vehicle. *dsh
The contact owns a 1995 mitsubishi 3000gt.while driving 68 mph, the transfer case (driveshaft) on the vehicle shut down and caused the wheels to lock in the middle of traffic.the failure almost caused a serious crash on the highway.the current and failure mileages were 109,000.
The contact owns a 1995 mitsubishi 3000gt. While driving 45 mph, the transmission failed without warning. The vehicle was taken to be diagnosed. The contact was informed that the transmission needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The contact also stated that the battery had to be replaced five times within months and an unknown window failed. The vehicle was not diagnosed nor repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 85,000.
The contact owns a 1995 mitsubishi 3000gt. While driving approximately 80 mph, the wheels on the vehicle seized. The vehicle was towed to vern eide honda sioux city at 4625 singing hills blvd, sioux city, ia 51106 where they informed the contact that the vehicle was unable to be repaired per a recall and would cost $200 to repair. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer stated that the vehicle was too old to be repaired per the recall. The vehicle was included in nhtsa campaign number: 02v143001 (power train). The approximate failure mileage was 151,000.
The transmission shifts horribly despite using manufacturer recommended oils.not getting into gears is very dangerous when driving or pulling out into intersections.
The transmission of the vr4 has been the achilles heel of the car.it is absurd that mitsubishi does not provide replacement parts but instead chooses to only provide replacement transmissions.a way for them to make more money.replacement parts would cost a lot less than a $4000 transmission replacement!i am extremely unhappy with their lack of action in this matter.thier position seems to be purely profit driven.
Power transmission failed. The car stopped moving the speed was less than 30 miles per hour. The car will continue to move in reverse but not forward.
Automatic transmission completely failed at 45mph without warning.
Dt:the contact complained about transmission problems. The previous owner had the transmission rebuilt on october 4, 2003.later, the transmission was again rebuilt.the contact was having problems again with the transmission when the vehicle was totaled in an accident.
Park, in automatic transmission failed.
Transmission went out without prior warning.asconsumer pulled out of freeway vehicle began to jerk and moved 5 mph. Dealer has advisedconsumer that transmission was completely out.
Complete transmission locked up.complete replacement required for $2700.00.when taken for repair, repairman dismantled 2 other transmissions with the same problem.possible defect?repairman had to order new parts.automobile only had 47,114 miles.low mileage for major transmission breakdown.
The seals on the transmission went bad causing the fluid to all leak out. As a result, the transmission was completely destroyed and needed to be replaced.
The transmission leaks fluid. This is the 2nd transmission for this car (which was installed may 1999 and 25,000 miles ago).i would guess the leaking started within the last month.the original transmission developed leaks and was replaced may 1999.the car had 56,300 original miles at that time.the car now has 81,000 miles and today it was confirmed that this replacement transmission is now leaking.the replacement transmission was purched from mitsubishi and paid for by an extended warranty.this 2nd transmission has been in use for about 2.25 years and 25,000 miles.transmission fluid both time has leaked into the clutch causing it to slip.
Transmission leaks, it has always leaked and tightening it does not stopleaking.
While driving my transfer case froze up and locked, it destroyed my transmission/ transfer case and may have caused damage to my rear end differential and front axles, also cost me a clutch totaling near $8000.
Consumer states transmission is slipping and there is irregular shifting.dealer was not able to find a cut out replacement transmission because consumer's vehicle is a turbo, resulting in a purchase of a new transmission.consumer received an extended warranty notification letter, however, warranty program excludes turbo engines.
5 speed manual transmission failure, sudden acceleration when shifting gears.tt
Transmission failure.
No summary listed for above vehicle.
Manual transmission fails to go into 1, 3, 5 and reverse.must be forced into gear or shifted to 4th before smoothly entering other gears.dangerous when accelerating onto highway, driver must ride clutch until gear can be obtained.transmission has been replaced but problem still present.
The transfer case recall repair failed.nhtsa recall number 02-v-143-001. *nlm
Regarding nhtsa recall id: 02v143001 for the transfer case on the 1995 mitsubishi 3000gt vr-4. My car's transfer case began leaking about 100 miles ago. Through my car club i was informed that there was a safety recall issued on this and to call the dealer. I called the dealer to see when i could schedule my repair and they asked for my vin#. When they ran the vin# they found out that the previous car owner took the car in dec. Of 2002 and the transfer case passed inspection so the safety recall was no longer available for my car. I then called mitsubishi of north america and they told me they were no longer liable for this repair. I went back to my car club and found out from several members that they had the recall done several times with little or no hassle from mitsubishi. They suggested i contact you and file a complaint. If this isn't addressed, the transfer case can lock up at high speeds causing my rear wheels to seize andmy vehicle to lose control and possibly roll or spin out of control. So this is definitely a major safety issue. I don't feel safe driving it now, and i certainly won't even consider letting my wife or 6 month old son ride in the car until this is addressed. My car has 127k miles on it so it has been driving less than 12k a year. Mitsubishi didn't replace or fix anything on the transfer case when the recall was originally done in 2002. I feel they should still be liable for this. I've had nothing but grief with them everytime i try to hold them accountable for safety related issues. Last year i had to buy new seat belts because mine no longer retracted. Manufacturers like honda and toyota warranty seat belts for the life of the car. I would buy a new transfer case, except with parts and labor it would be over $3000 and i don't feel this is my responsibility since there is a government mandated safety recall on this, and it technically has never been repaired or serviced before.
The seat belts in my mitsubishi 3000gt does not function properly. When the seat belt is pulled on it does not retract, leaving enough slack in the belt that if an accident were to occur, it would not serve its purpose as a safety restraint.
I bought this car back in september. The seat belts have never retracted by themselves after buckling in. I have to feed it back in with my hand. I am afraid of what would happen if myself or my passenger was not properly secured during an accident.
My 1995 mitsubishi 3000gt's seat belts do not properly retract.this became a problem shortly after i'd purchased the car.
My seat belts in my 1995 mitsubishi 3000gt do not retract properly, and stay loose when driving.there is a lot of slack on the driver and passenger seat belts when in use and is a hazard to my passenger and myself if we were ever involved in an accident.there are many mitsubishi 3000gts and dodge stealths with the same problem.this is a manufacturing defect, not a wear-and-tear item, and should be recalled to institute safety in these vehicles.
Seat belt malfunction. Seat belt does not retract properly even when fed. Seat belt often twists in the guider/holder causing it to get stuck making it unusable a majority of the time. This has been this way for 8 years prior to the date of this complaint.
The seat belt doesn't retract and leaves slack in it when it is buckled. It doesn't function properly.
The seat belt would not retract after it has been pulled. The seat belt then leaves far too much slack. This could result in injury to all who drive a mitsubishi 3000gt or dodge stealth.
I have a 1995 mitsubishi 3000 vr4 that has seat belts that do not work.they do not fully retract when pulled out.i have owned the car for 10 years and they have not consistently worked since just about day one.it started infrequently and now it is constant where the seat belts do not retract and fit snug against your body when driving.i consider this a serious potential safety issue.
Both driver and passenger side seat belts do not properly retract. I have used leather conditioner on the belts, which will for a period of at least half a year fix the problem. But after a while they will go back to not retracting. I have not been in an accident so i do not have first hand experience if this issue defects the safety use of the seat belt.
My seat belt (driver and passenger) does not retract. It will if you feed it back through the slot from where it comes out of or after an extended period of time. The only events leading to this failure in my opinion is repeated use. The failure of the seat belt to retract can cause injury to myself/passenger in the event of a crash since i would be jolted farther forward than i would normally with a properly working seat belt.
The seat belts on my 3000gt and like many others does not retract and is a hazard to us on the road. I would like to be fixed asap..
Brakes have to be changed frequently for accessive wear, even if rotors have been turned. Contacted dealer.
Rotors are warped ; problem stems from either defective rotor or defective caliper not releasing piston ; i am still investigating and attempting to pinpoint exact cause. Vehicle has less than 40k miles. Severe shimming of steering wheel could cause loss of control of car at highway speed!!!!

Rotors: have to change rotors every 3-4 thousand miles. Front/rear rotors are warped, causing vehicle to shimmy.
Brake rotors have warped approximately 6 to 7 times overlast 40,000 miles, causing a vibration invehicle. Dealership cannot determine a cause for continued warping of rotors.please provide any additional information/attachments.
While driving vehicle the brake rotors shaked, the dealer turned the rotors, but the rotors still shake.
Vehicle's retractable hardtops failed/leak.
Crack in front chassis crossmember above rack & pinion, making vehicle difficult to control during braking. Also excessive tire wear on front passenger tire. Dealer claims there is no recall. Complete replacement of crossmember is necessary. Welding of this part would not be safe. Vehicle has not been repaired yet.
While driving on the highway the inner wall of the tire became completely detached between the bead and the tread causing my vehicle to completely loose control and spin offf the road. (dot number: cxjxtiresize: 24540zr18)
5 speed manual transmission failure, sudden acceleration when shifting gears.tt
While looking for an opportunity to pass another car, the accelerator pedal got stuck and the car's speed was increasing rapidly.while there was no opportunity to pass (another car coming from opposite direction), the driver had to swerve quickly back to own lane while the car?s accelerator pedal was still stuck.the driver was trying to apply brakes without success of releasing the accelerator pedal.the driver lost control of the vehicle and the car spun to a left side ditch facing the opposite direction and hitting a traffic sign.the accelerator pedal did not disengage until the ignition was turned off.the car was totaled.no personal injuries.

Driver and passenger sunvisors come lose all the time.screws used have a steep thread, they come lose and visors fall from the roof.happened since the purchase in 1999.
Rear window is distorted and visibility is difficulty.
Dt: the contact's vehicle crashed. The rear passenger wheel split in two places. The driver lost control and over corrected. The vehicle proceeded into a fence and was totaled. A police report was taken , and insurance reportis on file.

All four rims on car are defective... Causing tires to deflate rapidly.the tires have to be inflated daily... Losing 5-10 pounds per day, more in cold weather.tires have been checked, and are fine.two brand new sets of tires have been destroyed by underinflation in two years.the rapid deflation of tire pressure has caused vehicle to slide off the road.mechanics say rims are all "out of round".dealership was notified and agreed to replace one of the four rims, but wouldn't pay for additional replacements because warranty was up despite the defect.tires should not have to be inflated daily... And this poses a dangerous hazard to self and other drivers.dealership said to call nhtsa if i didn't like their response.sincerely, scott kline
Something to look into before there is a resulting failure, injury, or fatality.chrome rims on 1995 mitsubishi 3000 gt vr4.the chroming process seems to have been faulty, resulting in the chrome peeling, bubbling, and flaking around the bead area of the rim.this causes an improper seal for the tire to the rim resulting in loss of air pressure.there are numerous complaints of this issue on the 3si.org website for these cars.*la
