Failure inbrake booster accumulator causing noises when stopping or slowing down and after stop.miles per hour varies from full stop to 45 mph.two other 2002 mitsubishi models have a recall on this problem but not the montero limited.this is an expensive problem to remedy and contrary to the investigation this problem did not occur until the vehicle was older.
Consumer letter regarding mitsubishi montero brake system failure.the dealer informed the consumer the recall had been performed in 2003, however the consumer continued to experience problems with brake system. The consumer was told the part would not be replaced as a recall, therefore the consumer would be responsible for the charges.
