Consumer's vehicle experienced the same problems asstated in recall 99v243000 concerning air bag warning light.dealership will not repairvehicle free of charge because the vin was not included.

Air bag warning light continually illuminates, not able to determine malfunction.

While driving with the defroster on high, the heater unit caught fire, flames came throught the vents melting the dashboard and visiors and cracked the windshield, the fire also caused the drivers air bag to deploy.nlm

Had air bag sensor replaced through a recall notice and the air bag light on the dash blinks periodicaly since the recall. Dealership states they cannot do anything to correct the problem.

Airbag light intermittently comes off and on.contacted dealer.

The vehicle experienced problems with it's air bags.the vehicle' also leaked fluid at the transmission joint.the vehicle leaked 2 1/2 qts of transmission fluid in approximately 3 weeks.since the vehicle was no longer under warranty the dealer refused to assist the consumer.

Brakes failed resulting in vehicle hitting guard rail, no deployment of both passenger/driver's air bag during collision. Mjs

Another vehicle suddenly stopped & was rearended by the mystique. Upon impact with other vehicle, air bags failed to deploy. 1 injury & emergency room treatment.

Air bag light will intermittently illuminate from time to time. Contacted dealer and the dealer was not willing to do anything.consumer states that this problem has been fixed twice.

While in frontal impact the driver'sair bag did deploy, but the passenger's airbag did not deploy, which did not protect the occupant in this accident.also, the passenger's seatbelt did hold the occupant,causing the passenger to sustain head injuries.please provide further information.

Consumer received recall 99v243000 notice concerning frontal air bag sensor module.whenvehicle is startedair bag light comes on and stays on at all times. Dealerexamined the vehicle, but could not find the problem.consumer's vehicle not included in recall due to vin.

Dealership refused to recognize problems related to the recall. Vehicle needed new air bag diagnostic monitor. Dealership refused to accommodate consumer. If dealership made the adjustment they would charge the consumer.

Consumer is disappointed with the number (6) of recalls that have been issued on this vehicle.nlm

Consumer received manufacturer'srecall 99s23 concerning air bag control module. Consumer had no problems untildealer performedrecall repairs. Currently, when it rainsair bag light comes on.the vehicle was returned tot he dealer three times to correct the problem but the dealer was unable to findthe problem.

Experienced dealer problem when requested to have air bag on/off switch installed.

Dt:while driving down the road, i noticed smoke coming out of the dash.i pull over to the side of the road, opened the hood and the first thing i saw was fire coming from behind the glove compartment.the car caught fire and burned just five after i pulled over.no warning lights, looked at temp gauge and everything was fine before the fire. Called 911 at 5:44 pm, fire dept came and put out the fire.this was on the interstate. *sb

Vehicle instrument panel went hay-wire, car starting hesitating, and slamming from gear to gear.took to a service center that advised me that it had a bad sensor.paid close to $800.00 to have replaced.car started with more electrical issues within the next couple of days.(ie:lights would not go on, etc)took back to service center that then advised that the wiring harness on the car was malfunctioning and causes the electrical system to short circuit.the wiring harness would have to be replaced and wiring on car would have to be redone costing close to $3000.00.they also advised that this car is not safe to drive, that it would be just a matter of time before this car would catch fire.did not have $$ to make repair, continued to drive car having no other option with a baby, and young child that need to be taken to school, etc.while driving on the interstate days later, the car went from 75 mph to 10 mph like hitting a wall.almost got rear-ended and had to exit, driving home at 10 mph the whole way.

Dt: the contact states there is a nhtsa recall campaign#01v230000 concerning the electrical system. This vehicle has the sameproblemsas indicated in the recall, butit is not included in the recall due to vin. The vehicle has not been repaired because it was too expensive

I am the 2nd owner of my 1998 mercury mystique.i purchased the vehicle in 2004.it has a computer defect that gives a false reading for the check engine light.this car qualified for the nj lemon law because of this problem with its 1st owner.however, that owner was too kind to do anything about it.the previous owner gave me a file filled with service information from the date he purchased the vehicle, brand new in december 1997.shortly after his purchase he had the vehicle back to the dealer for the check engine light.he had it back a couple more times for the same thing and they always fixed it.obviously, they put a band-aid on a major defect.inoticed the light was on when i first purchased the vehicle.the former owner said he had it checked and was told not to pay attention to it.well, since then i have been told at inspection that it has to be fixed every time.so it goes to my mechanic who wills repair/replace the necessary parts per that day's computer reading.within a few weeks (occasionally months) the light goes on again.previous to this years inspection (december 31st) i had my friend look it over and he replaced the valve/sensor that was defected (per that days computer reading).well, right before inspection the check engine light went back on.and of course, since it was on, it failed again.i mentioned to the inspector that it had a history of this problem.i asked if there was any recourse and he told me to look into the nj waiver program.i called the motor vehicle commission to learn about the waiver program.i understand to be considered, the repair cost has to be about $400 or more.some time ago the repair costs limit was about $250 or more.well, for the repair i had done before this last inspection, it cost me about $250 again.i believe that for these reasons i should qualify for a vehicle waiver for the emissions inspection of my vehicle.

The contact owns a 1998 mercury mystique.the contact took her vehicle to a mechanic because the blower motor resistor failed.the mechanic stated that her fuse box melted, which caused the blower motor to fail.she called the manufacturer and a representative stated that her vin was not included in nhtsa campaign id number 01v230000 (electrical system), although the failures were identical.the contact would be responsible for the repair costs.she is in the process of having the vehicle repaired.the failure and current mileages were 114,708.

The contact owns a 1998 mercury mystique.while driving various speeds, the contact noticed that the fuel gauge and speedometer displayed inaccurate readings.in addition, the warning lights on the instrument control panel flicker on and off sporadically.the contact also stated that he felt excessive heat underneath the instrument panel.a local mechanic stated that the electrical system was defective and they are currently in the process of repairing the vehicle.the manufacturer did not provide any assistance.the contact has pictures of the failed component.the failure mileage was 43,000 and current mileage was 48,000.

Approx. 3 weeks ago, the original battery in my car was completely dead .it had showed no signs of losing power prior to that day.i bought a new battery and when i hooked it up the engine started turning over.the keys were in my pocket.as a result the starter died.i had the car towed to a local service station.they replaced the starter and a cracked serpantine belt.a few days later i was driving from nj to pa when i heard a strange buzzing sound under my hood and i smelt the faint smell of something burning.i pulled over, turned off the ignition and looked under the hood.i did not see anything out of the ordinary.the car would not start back up.i had it towed to a near bye service station.again the starter had to be replaced along with a burned relay wire and a battery.when i went to pick the car up, the new battery had died and we noticed some more burnt wires near the fuse box.i than had the car towed to haldeman lincoln mercury in allentown, pa 610-797-5005.until this point i was reluctant to take my car to the dealer because they had been extremely unresponsive to past issues i have had with the transmission shifting delayed and hard and also with the check engine light and a engine timing issue.these issues happened right after my warranty expired and despite three seperate letters to ford, the company did nothing to address my situation.i conveyed this entire story to the service advisor, mike siemons, at haldeman lincoln mercury dealership and he gave me the customer service number for ford.on 2/10/01 i spoke with a customer service rep. Who stated that he would relay my report to a area account rep. Who would help remedy my problem.i was informed the rep. Would call me by the end of business today.so far he has not called.the dealership informed me today that i needed to pay $2k+ for a new wire harness and a 3rd starter in as many weeks.they attribute the problem to a battery that leaked acid. Horn pad is hard to operate when needed. Dealer notified, and manufacturer informedconsumer that itwas normal operation for that vehicle. The dealer could not correct the problem.the consumer indicated that being unable to use the horn is a serious safety hazard.

Horn failed to sound, even after repeated attempts, fixed horn by replacing some parts.

While driving vehicle started smoking.vehicle was checked by dealer, who advised consumer that fuel was leaking from spark plug wires into the catalytic converter which could have causedvehicle to catch on fire.

The vehicle stalled2 blocks from home in am. It was able to be restarted, but died when put in gear. It was towed to the dealer. They were not able to duplicate the condition, but found a tsb that stated to reprogram the pcm. They said this was not covered by the extended warranty. I contacted ford customer service, but have not received a reply. Ford announced the other day that reimbursement for repairs to their vehicles that stalled without warning. This vehicle falls under that condition. I feel this condition is very dangerous, since the vehicle stalls without warning, and all power is lost.

The trans is out not working. It worked fine,and just stop,made a funny noise and just stoped. Ipulled in my yard.know it want move.for know reason.

1998 mercury mystique.electrical sub-harness connector problems.the consumer stated he took the vehicle to his mechanic, because the ac wasn't cooling properly and the vehicle would over heat, while it was on. The vehicle has two fans in the front and they found the cooling fan melted and the sub-harness connector burned up. In addition, they showed the consumer the part of the sub-harness with the insulation just falling off the wire. They had to replacedthe fan motor unit and had to splice in a fan connector and wire into the rest of the sub-harness, because for said the sub-harness was obsolete and not available. While it functions, the check engine light has since illuminated for a cam shaft position sensor, which the consumer was informed it was related to the sub-harness. Also, the lower control arms, ball joints, front struts, rear struts and rearmounts, numerous o2 sensors, radio antenna, rack and pinion, drivers side power window and switch controller were all replaced. The engine and transmission mounts also had to be replaced.

Shorting out of wiring caused fuse blowing, two times battery died and alternator failed. Yh

Dt:the contact was having electrical problems. She said the vehicle would not start. The vehicle would jump while she was driving. She was going about 40 mph.she had it looked at,and was told it was in the wiring. She said when the mechanic looked at the vehicle the windshield wipers came on by themselves. A mechanic told her the wires were bad,and they needed to be replaced. She was told this by two different mechanics. She found out about a recall 01v230000on the wiring harness. Dealer told her the recall has expired. Manufacturer saidthis vehicle was not included in the recall.

I came to this site looking for recall information to see if there had been a recall related to my problems with the 1998 mercury mystique.so far nothing too dangerous has happened, but i am feeling very unsafe for obvious reasons.one by one the electrical systems in my car are shorting out.i haven't been able to power down the passenger side window for quite some time.then the radio (always faulty -- they were never able to fix it even by replacing it) shorted out completely on the incident date below.then the interior overhead and floorboard lights shorted out a few days later.i'm concerned that the exterior lights and power steering are next.i can't get an appointment at the dealership to have all this looked at for another couple of weeks.i was checking the site to see if there were any related recalls or complaints.thought i'd add a complaint because maybe it needs to be looked into.

Engine blew on a trip to st.louis car was under fords extended service plan because i could not produce all of my engine maitance reports even though i tried to explain to ford that many times i did my own oil changes they have refuse to honor their extended service plan.

Engine cooling- temperature runs on the high range of normal.engine - two bolts fell out of water pump pulley causing unknown vibration which in turn caused failure of serpentine belt which caused belt to fray into engine which in turn dislodged timing belt and caused oil light to come on.dealer not "user friendly" during repair process which drug out the repair for a week. Engine has not run in the same fashion since the incident even though two different dealers have addressed the problem.engine now stalls during initial start up almost causing engine to die entirely which has almost been the cause of several accidents.tires- uneven and unusual wear on rear tires causing tires to wear prematurely.windshield- unusal amount of chips perhaps caused by design and shape of windshield.ignition- when removing key ingintion stays stuck into the steering column causing buzzer to sound.did i mention that we will never buy a ford product again especially since we have only owned this car since december 1999. Engine started making funny noises. Consumer stopped the car and popped open the hood and noticed thatwater tank was low. Consumer then filled tank back up with water. The nextday steam was coming from the engine compartment. Took car to dealerandit is still there.

I have had numerous front end problems. I have had to replace front tie rods twice in a year and a half. Having problems with struts .control arm bushings need to changed. Also stabilizers linkage had to be changed. Have also put new ball joints in.

Fan stopped working on 1998 mercury mystique, no heat in car. Most likly cause is the resistor on the heater blower moter. This should be covered on ford recalls 01s22 or 01m07, but ford will not fix it. Ford did replace this part under recall 99m07 on 01/17/2001, this is an on going issue and all mystiques should be cover under 01m07.

In january 2000, my fan stopped running and my abs light went off simultaneously as i was rolling to a complete stop in a parking lot.my speed was very slow, as i was just stopping at the exit to the parking lot.ford covered the fan switch, as it was under my extended warranty.they researched and stated the abs module had blown, and was in no way related to what had happened with the fan.this is the third time the fan switch had been replaced.ford would not cover the abs module, and told me that the part alone was $936.00 and it would require a half a day's labor to install.the dealer charged me 79.77 for running the diagnostic tests on the vehicle to find the problem.i took the car to a local garage, and had the repair done for $450.00.i was very angry, as my warranty would not cover this part or labor, and i lease the vehicle.this part is covered in 3.4l models, but not in my car. Yesterday, i was driving home and applied the brakes as i approached my home, the lights dimmed and the abs light went off.my fan was not on , therefore, it did not blow.my wipers and lights were on.i assume this is the same problem with the abs as last time.i feel that there has to be some electrical problem shorting this module out, and i do not want to pay more money to replace this if it is going to continue to occur.i went through all of the channels i could at ford motor company, to no avail, the first time.i feel that there is a defect with my car that could be electrical and just may result in other problems.i lease this vehicle and will be done with it in february, however, i do not want to have to either drive around with my abs system not functioning, or pay more money to fix a problem that would logically seem to be a defect of the car.i would appreciate any assistance you could offer me with this situation.thank you for any help you can offer.

Unable to fuel my 1998 mercury mystique without frequent pump shut down and/or gasoline spillage. This problem began in november 2000 and became progressively worse until repairs were made on march 26, 2001.the problem was linked to a product defect - a sticking flapper valve (tsb 98-15-3). A new flapper valve was installed at a cost of $ 224.26 ($6.07 parts & remainder labor and tax). The replacement of the valve has corrected the problem.while it is fortunate that no injuries or significant environmental damage occurred in this instance because of the defect, a high potential for injury and damage exists.

My problem is that my car stalls when driven at any speed, whether i am stopped, turning or just driving. I have brought this car to the dealership to get fixed and they don't know what this is. This was accident related and my insurance said if it isn't accident related then i am responsible for the bill that the dealer will charge for looking at the car. Now this started happening when my car was hit in the front at over 40+ miles/hr. Am i protected by any law that will allow me to get this car fixed at no cost to me? i am driving a very dangerous car right now and almost got killed last week when i was turning off a highway and the car stalled, a rig was coming right towards me and at last second i got out of the way. This is very scary and don't know what to do for help! i was already handed a diagnostic bill for over $80.00 and refused to pay because they never really found the problem. Oil was running out 3 days at a time. Had oil changed.vehicle would cut off at stop sign, but started right back up. Also, . White smoke was coming from the rear.

Engine cooling- temperature runs on the high range of normal.engine - two bolts fell out of water pump pulley causing unknown vibration which in turn caused failure of serpentine belt which caused belt to fray into engine which in turn dislodged timing belt and caused oil light to come on.dealer not "user friendly" during repair process which drug out the repair for a week. Engine has not run in the same fashion since the incident even though two different dealers have addressed the problem.engine now stalls during initial start up almost causing engine to die entirely which has almost been the cause of several accidents.tires- uneven and unusual wear on rear tires causing tires to wear prematurely.windshield- unusal amount of chips perhaps caused by design and shape of windshield.ignition- when removing key ingintion stays stuck into the steering column causing buzzer to sound.did i mention that we will never buy a ford product again especially since we have only owned this car since december 1999. 1998 mercury mystique.electrical sub-harness connector problems.the consumer stated he took the vehicle to his mechanic, because the ac wasn't cooling properly and the vehicle would over heat, while it was on. The vehicle has two fans in the front and they found the cooling fan melted and the sub-harness connector burned up. In addition, they showed the consumer the part of the sub-harness with the insulation just falling off the wire. They had to replacedthe fan motor unit and had to splice in a fan connector and wire into the rest of the sub-harness, because for said the sub-harness was obsolete and not available. While it functions, the check engine light has since illuminated for a cam shaft position sensor, which the consumer was informed it was related to the sub-harness. Also, the lower control arms, ball joints, front struts, rear struts and rearmounts, numerous o2 sensors, radio antenna, rack and pinion, drivers side power window and switch controller were all replaced. The engine and transmission mounts also had to be replaced.

I have a 1998 mercury mystique. The vehicle recently began running abnormally. So in inspection of this, i discovered that the vehicles acceleration is being raised without me even touching the gas. I was on the road and my vehicle was speeding up on it's own and i couldn't figure out why. It seems as if the cruise control is constantly on or something.

Daughter (16 years old) getting in back seat with her flute case pressed up against speaker grill with the case.this was enough to crack the speaker grill.i have not informed the dealer yet, as i have a scheduled appointment next month for service and will bring it up at that time.this speaker grill may have had a crack in it when purchased or these are very brittle.i have heard that other people are having similar problems with the plastic components in this car. When ever it has been raining or there is heavy dew outside, rain or moisture would enter the rear lights. Have taken to dealership several times and was informed each time it was the factory sealant that had failed. The sealant can not be resealed. Recall on a fuel filler neck valve for a 98 mercury mystique, gas being unable to flow freely into gas tank,spits gas back out on you. August is the first time i knew there was a recall. Ford says my vin # wasn't on recall , but the part is defective anyway.( dangerous )occurs everytime you try and put gas into car.they put a canister vent valve on which was not the problem. They kept the old part that was good. Problem is fuel filler neck valve.

I am not able to pump gas without spillage occurring.the tank acts like its full even when empty and i have to continually depress the gas pump. I am able to only pump a few gallons before my hand gets to tired to continue. I have had mechanics look at this but they can't figure out what is wrong.

Still no decision on rental car after two weeks.after one month found out company that makes this type of engine for ford had broken its contract.now no supplier was available.waited.had to order each individual part for engine replacement.after over two months.car was fixed.... Supposedly.after one week car was in shop for oil and antifreeze leaks, broken lighting fixture, and gas mileage that has now been cut in half.was told break in period was reason for poor gas mileage.yet, every manual claims no break in period is necessary.car still in shop after 5 days.

Took my car in october 15, 2003.jim dobson ford in winamac to check my car out and they told me it wasn't an electrical problem with my transmission it was hydrolic or the second speed gear went out. I told them to go ahead and rebuild the transmission. They pulled the transmission out on the 16th. Called them on the 17th. They told me that the mechanic called off sick and that they did not have a chance to open the transmission up to find out exactly what is wrong with it. Mechanic called of again on the 18th and the 20th. Asked them about a loaner car. They said they don't have loaner cars . Doesn't my transmission look pretty on a pedestal!

Approx. 3 weeks ago, the original battery in my car was completely dead .it had showed no signs of losing power prior to that day.i bought a new battery and when i hooked it up the engine started turning over.the keys were in my pocket.as a result the starter died.i had the car towed to a local service station.they replaced the starter and a cracked serpantine belt.a few days later i was driving from nj to pa when i heard a strange buzzing sound under my hood and i smelt the faint smell of something burning.i pulled over, turned off the ignition and looked under the hood.i did not see anything out of the ordinary.the car would not start back up.i had it towed to a near bye service station.again the starter had to be replaced along with a burned relay wire and a battery.when i went to pick the car up, the new battery had died and we noticed some more burnt wires near the fuse box.i than had the car towed to haldeman lincoln mercury in allentown, pa 610-797-5005.until this point i was reluctant to take my car to the dealer because they had been extremely unresponsive to past issues i have had with the transmission shifting delayed and hard and also with the check engine light and a engine timing issue.these issues happened right after my warranty expired and despite three seperate letters to ford, the company did nothing to address my situation.i conveyed this entire story to the service advisor, mike siemons, at haldeman lincoln mercury dealership and he gave me the customer service number for ford.on 2/10/01 i spoke with a customer service rep. I have had shifting problems with the automatic transmissions ona1998 mercury mystique.from my research this transmission made by a joint venture between mazda and ford has had major problmes.i have had it to the local ford dealer seven times to get it fixed.they thought it was all electrical but now tell me they need to pull the transmission and check three things inside it.the car has been undriveable for three months through this process.i have already spent $650.00 and now the real expensed process starts.

Engine check light was illuminated while driving out of town on christmas day -- the drive home was unsettling because of the constant jerking in the rear of the car.i took my car to my mechanic -- it was hooked on a computer which indicated a code 1744 indicating excessive slippage on the torque converter.i believe this should be reported because this is potentially a recall issue and this should be covered under my powertrain warranty.my car is barely 4 years old and has below average mileage.

I took my car to my mechanic after my check engine light was illuminated -- he told me that the computer indicated torque control slippage -- then took the car to mountain view ford where the service advisor informed me that my transaxle pump needed replacing and that it would cost just over $1000 -- this car only has just over 32000 miles on it and i was also told that my 100000 mile powertrain warranty would not cover it -- this is a defect on the car and should be subject to a recall.

Dt: contact' ssonseat belt broke during an accident and he was ejected from the car. This happened on 7-7-05. There were no problems with the seat belt prior to the accident. She took pictures of the accident. She took pictures of the seat belt itself. The clip that went into the buckle was missing some of its parts and the buckle was bent. He was hit on the right hand side of the car and totaled the car.he was traveling approx. 30 mph. He broke his neck, had seven broken ribs and punctured his lung and has a broken collar bone. The vehicle was a 1998 and was in excellent condition and the mother states all of the recalls that were suppose to have been done on the car were done and she has all of the records on it. Went to ford dealer regarding 1998 mercury mystique- abs light would not go off.they tested it at $90.00 and then said that the whole hcu would have to be replaced to correct the problem at a cost of $3,000.i was also told that this part doesn't brake down or need replacement ofter.no recalls availablei can't afford to fix this.they said that the regular brakes are fine, however, i notice that i somtimes don't stop like i should.

Tried to brake for a family of geese crossing the road.following the braking, i noticed a problem with the brakes and the car pulling to the left.the car was also making an unusual noise.after slowly driving the car to the repair shop, it was determined that the right front brake rotor was broken.

In january 2000, my fan stopped running and my abs light went off simultaneously as i was rolling to a complete stop in a parking lot.my speed was very slow, as i was just stopping at the exit to the parking lot.ford covered the fan switch, as it was under my extended warranty.they researched and stated the abs module had blown, and was in no way related to what had happened with the fan.this is the third time the fan switch had been replaced.ford would not cover the abs module, and told me that the part alone was $936.00 and it would require a half a day's labor to install.the dealer charged me 79.77 for running the diagnostic tests on the vehicle to find the problem.i took the car to a local garage, and had the repair done for $450.00.i was very angry, as my warranty would not cover this part or labor, and i lease the vehicle.this part is covered in 3.4l models, but not in my car. The car makes a funny noise from the engine compartment after each startup.was told that it is likely the abs going through a test.the noise is also heard when making an agressive turn while stopping, typically when the abs would engage.the noise could be best described as a loud, high pitch wine that last only a few seconds.i was told that this is common and is a major safety issue.

The clip connecting the gas pedal to the engine has fallen off twice & been repaired. Both times the car was accelerating onto an interstate & the driver was able to pull off onto the shoulder. This could have resulted in fatalities if it happened while passing on a 2 lane road. 1998 mercury mystique.electrical sub-harness connector problems.the consumer stated he took the vehicle to his mechanic, because the ac wasn't cooling properly and the vehicle would over heat, while it was on. The vehicle has two fans in the front and they found the cooling fan melted and the sub-harness connector burned up. In addition, they showed the consumer the part of the sub-harness with the insulation just falling off the wire. They had to replacedthe fan motor unit and had to splice in a fan connector and wire into the rest of the sub-harness, because for said the sub-harness was obsolete and not available. While it functions, the check engine light has since illuminated for a cam shaft position sensor, which the consumer was informed it was related to the sub-harness. Also, the lower control arms, ball joints, front struts, rear struts and rearmounts, numerous o2 sensors, radio antenna, rack and pinion, drivers side power window and switch controller were all replaced. The engine and transmission mounts also had to be replaced.

Front left coil spring failed buring backup, resulting in tire gouge and frame bottoming. Looking at the 1998 mystiques/ford contours, it is a very strong possibliity the the coil springs on these cars are fatigueing , for many springs have failed in these model in the last 6 months. There is most certainly a trend and this is a definate safetythreat. Should one fail at a higher speed, the results will be catastrophic.

Engine cooling- temperature runs on the high range of normal.engine - two bolts fell out of water pump pulley causing unknown vibration which in turn caused failure of serpentine belt which caused belt to fray into engine which in turn dislodged timing belt and caused oil light to come on.dealer not "user friendly" during repair process which drug out the repair for a week. Supposedly.after one week car was in shop for oil and antifreeze leaks, broken lighting fixture, and gas mileage that has now been cut in half.was told break in period was reason for poor gas mileage.yet, every manual claims no break in period is necessary.car still in shop after 5 days.

Car is fire and safety hazard as well as child-welfare and safety hazard and ford motor company refuses to talk with me about this auto. No safety defec tlisted.(tiresize: 205/60r15)

Heater fan motor is inoperative. Dealer contacted.conusmer received recall notice 99m07.consumer took vehicle in to dealer.the dealer wouldn't authorize the work because the problem depicted in the recall was still working.now that it is inoperative the dealer won't fix because the vehicle is over mileage.the defroster is also inoperable.*jg

Engine light stays on.owner noticed that hot airwas blows out of ventilation even with air conditioning system.

While driving with the defroster on high, the heater unit caught fire, flames came throught the vents melting the dashboard and visiors and cracked the windshield, the fire also caused the drivers air bag to deploy.nlm

No turn signals, one brake light and tail light, one headlight on driver side.replaced all bulbs still no lights.relay on driver's side window went out.tires wear constantly.tail lights flood as does front floorboard must park car flat when it rains to keep from being flooded out of car.sunroof motor shot.had recall on heater done and now when it rains i have problems with heater.replaced senors and check engine light still on.car has been stuck in park before had to have mechanic come to house to fix.must repace rotors on car @ every 6 months.car makes a clicking noise in the dash ( no idea what that is)headlights are foggy as well.car is costing us a fortune.when i asked the dealership to fix all the recalls they told me the time had run out and sorry.

Vehicle description:passenger vehicles.the rough surface of the heater blower resistor's stainless steel blades can damage the copper surface of the wiring harness connector.the damage could, over time, cause increased resistance in the connector,and due to subsequent terminal relaxation, result in an open circuit condition.

The contact owns a 1998 mercury mystique.the contact took her vehicle to a mechanic because the blower motor resistor failed.the mechanic stated that her fuse box melted, which caused the blower motor to fail.she called the manufacturer and a representative stated that her vin was not included in nhtsa campaign id number 01v230000 (electrical system), although the failures were identical.the contact would be responsible for the repair costs.she is in the process of having the vehicle repaired.the failure and current mileages were 114,708.

The contact owns a 1998 mercury mystique.the vehicle's heater blower failed on three separate occasions.the vehicle was taken to the dealer twice concerning the blower ,and the connector on the heater blower cable was replaced.two different dealerstoldthe contact that thisvehiclewas excluded from recall # 01v230000.the current and failure mileage were 102,000.

There is a short in the abs controller system which causes the fuse for the fan blower to blow therefore there is no heat and no abs which makes the car inoperable.when i took my car into the ford dealer there was another lady with the same problem.

Blower resistor and motor burnedout due to faulty plugs.the dealer has inspected and repaired the vehicle.

1998 mercury mystique.electrical sub-harness connector problems.the consumer stated he took the vehicle to his mechanic, because the ac wasn't cooling properly and the vehicle would over heat, while it was on. The vehicle has two fans in the front and they found the cooling fan melted and the sub-harness connector burned up. In addition, they showed the consumer the part of the sub-harness with the insulation just falling off the wire. They had to replacedthe fan motor unit and had to splice in a fan connector and wire into the rest of the sub-harness, because for said the sub-harness was obsolete and not available. While it functions, the check engine light has since illuminated for a cam shaft position sensor, which the consumer was informed it was related to the sub-harness. Also, the lower control arms, ball joints, front struts, rear struts and rearmounts, numerous o2 sensors, radio antenna, rack and pinion, drivers side power window and switch controller were all replaced. The engine and transmission mounts also had to be replaced.

Dashboard reflects offthe windshield, causing visibility problems.

Whendriving dashboard reflects on the windshield,making it difficult to see clearly out of the window.contacteddealer, they don't know what to do.

Windshield washer pump failed. Yh

I have had numerous front end problems. I have had to replace front tie rods twice in a year and a half. Having problems with struts .control arm bushings need to changed. Also stabilizers linkage had to be changed. Have also put new ball joints in.
