Air bag indicator light is flashing even though air bag has not deployed

Air bag bolts loose, causing rattle.

Air bag sensor light on dash started blinking on april 10, 2001 when vehicle had 105,000 miles. Took to dealer listed above to fix a total of three times and paid $559.72 in total for repairs but air bag sensor light began blinking shortly after third repair attempt. This means the air bag may not deploy in an accident and also prevents me from selling vehicle. Was also charged for fan motor switch repair that ford had issued two recall/service bulletins on. Wrote ford motor company "customer relationship center" on june 19, 2001 but have heard nothing from them. Car needs to be repaired so air bag is functional and so it can be sold. Also feel either ford or dealer should reimburse $559.72 since car was not fixed -- and now cannot be sold until it is!

Car was brought into dealer for repairof"severe vibration in steering column when car is idling in gear " complaint. Dealer diagnosed the problem and determined car's entire steering assembly including the air bag must be replaced. Dealer is not able to locate an air bag to complete the service nearly 4 months after the car was bought in for repair. I have contacted ford who has verified that the air bag is on "national back order". Ford also claims to have no knowledge of when this part will be available. How can an important safety part be unavailable for such an excessive period of time? nobody has been able to help me. I've even called the office of ford's ceo, jack nasser, with no succesful results. Is this car safe to drive? did you ever hear of such a situation? please help !!!

My airbag indicator light blinks, i took my car to lannings ford here in carey oh. They said that the modular & fuse blew they don't know what caused it to blow if i get it fixed theres a good chance it may blow again we don't know so as of now my airbags won'twork if there was to be an accident.

At around 50,000 miles we noticed the housing that holds the driver\\'s side airbag coming loose.we received a couple of recall notices on other things so when we took it in to get the recalls done i asked the technician at sunflower lincoln/mercury if he could check out the problem with the airbag housing and possibly fix it for us.he called us back stating that the bolts had sheered off from the inside of the housing and that they couldn\\'t fix it and that we would have to pay between $300-$500 dollars out of our own pocket to get it fixed.we then called lincoln/mercury headquarters and were told that \\"the housing is just like a tire and that over time it wears out and that we would be responsible for any repair costs to it\\". I have a major problem when the technician tells me that the problem was the bolts sheering off from the inside and then being told it\\'s my problem.this becomes a safety issue for which i believe mercury is responsible for.the problem sounds like faulty equipment and they have no intentions of doing anything in good faith about it.

Vehicle experiencing problem with water entering underneathvehicle and causing engine to shut off while driving. Dealer repaired at consumer's expense.also, air bag sensor light came on blinking, indicatingthat air bag may have deployed. Dealernotified, and would only repair at consumer expense. Can nhtsa help in this matter.

The air bag warning light keeps blinking on my 95 mercury mystique. Ford says it is not covered under any conditions as a defect.

The front springs were changed under one of the recalls after one broke.the back springs were not under recall but were both broken and ford refused to do it even though the springs were from the same supplier and failed prematurely. I had to change both rear springs due to their partial recall. The air bag light is blinking now which i am told means the air bags will not deploy if involved in an accident. I need to drive the car and if involved in an accident will hold ford responsible for any injuries as they won't fix this faulty system.

I was told the wiring harness on my 1995 mercury mystique has failed. The car only has 72,000 miles. It started with the traction control and abs systems failing. It has now spread to the engine and transmission. The car is now undrivable. My ford dealer told me this failure is becoming a problem on the ford contour/mercury mystique models. When driving the vehicle in wet conditions the charger light comes on and the steering gets tight.

We have had to replace the alternator 4 times in the last 3 years, all at our expenses.our daughter was driving on i-90/94 in wisconsin, at 70 mph, when her car lost power and she had to get over to the shoulder. Ford thinks they have solved the problem by replacing some circuit board component.in august, 2001 the front, right coil spring broke and had to be replaced.later we found that we had not been contacted about the recall on it.one year later a rear coil spring also broke right off and had to be replaced but the rear coils were not under recall so we had to pay for that ourselves.we believe it was inferior materials because we have never had a vehicle before, of any make or model where the coils springs rusted and broke off.dt

Vehicle was taken to the mercury dealer at 45396 and 56249 miles due to frequently running at the farthest side of nornal on engine temperature gauge (almost in the red danger zone) especially when on hills or in the mountains. We were told "the car is meant to run hot." no remedy was suggested by the dealer either time. At 53486 miles, a technician at an independent smog stationsaid he had never seen a car run so hot. He ran a fan on the engine during the smog test. This is why the car was taken back to the dealer for a check of the engine running hot at 56249 miles. On 10/17/99, the car lost power while on the freeway and came to a halt at the side of the road., steam was coming from under the hood. The car did not restrart.diagnosis at a nearby independent station revealed: vehicle had been severely overheated. All spark plugs are contaminated with coolant, and all cylinders are filled with coolant. A tear down of the cylinder head revealed that cylinder head is severely warped.

At around 38000 miles, the starter gear split in half, causing starter failure.the component was inspected by both an independent mechanic and a ford service technician, and both agreed that the part failed because of a defect.after driving the vehicle about 2000 miles, apparently a piece of the broken starter entered the transmission housing and destroyed the clutch and ring gear, and punched a hole in the transmission housing.i believe this to be a safety issue because the technician told me that the problem was severe enough that it could have caused transmission or clutch parts to actually break off at road speed, possibly entering the passenger compartment of the vehicle.

Caliviar ford in chesapeake va. Refused to completerecall of engine cooling fan electronic fuse due to melted wiring harness. This fault was caused be a previous recal (campaine id number : 01i0090000) (visability: defrogger system:windshield:controls:wiring) causing the attached electrical connectors to melt. I just spent $2000.00 and replacet car with new motor because the motor blowed up due to another factory recall id# 00v367000 engine and engine cooling. I purchased this car with over 100,000 miles and this work was never performed and i did not receive the recal until after 100,000 miles.

Wiring harness in the vehicle failed and caused a fire that burned the car to the ground.i see that on the recall page that there is a recall that indicates that the vehicle could overheat and start a fire.this vehicle nearly burned down a house and another vehicle when the fire occurred.the fire marshall advised that there is a magnesium coupler in the steering column that once it ignites it is basically impossible to extinguish.help.

On your web site i have found several recalls on 95 mercury mystique's one is regarding the ac unit and the wires burning up as well as a floor shifter problem causing the shifter not to indicate the correct gear. I went to friendly ford and they stated to me that my vehicle's vin # was not in the data base as having any recalls. I can assure you that these two issues are in fact occurring in my 95 mystique. I have had it looked at by mechanic's and these two issues are in fact on my car and i need them to be fixed under the recalls.

Electrical system suddenly failed while driving to work. Only the interior lights would operate and the emergency flashers would not come on for safety.when gearshift was put into "park"it would not come out because interlock is electrically activated (car could not be pushed to safe location out of traffic).several heavy guage red wires that connect to battery positive terminal (and run underneath the battery) lost insulation and shorted out causing abrupt loss of electric power to all items except interior lights.ford sent letter 10/1999 extending warranty for "certain" underhood wiring harnesses that could experience insulation cracking and failure, but will not accept warranty claim for my situation.i feel this is a very unsafe condition (the car stalled with absolutetly no warning) and may exist on other mystiques and contours.i have electronic images of faulty wires and ford's extended warranty letter for your inspection. Please contact me if you need this information.thank you.

Motor would stall and die, andturn signal quit working, took to mechanic, and they said wires were bad and shorted out.

The insulation of the wiring has degraded, causing the vehicle to short out. Dealer has repaired the vehicle, and the problem still exists.

While traveling at 30mph temperature gauge went to hot, and vehicle completely died. Rep at dealership had vehicle towed to dealer, and they reported that wires had melted underhood which resulted inwiring harness needed to be replaced. Recall 00v367 dealing with overheating related to the problem consumer had with vehicle, however dealer will not do any recall repairs due to mileage of vehicle.

Problem with fan motor led to our taking vehicle into dealer.their inspection revealed severe deterioration to wiring harness insulationwhich service manager said might lead to a fire hazard.ford area rep contacted and offered $1,500 payment toward $2,500 bill.this all took place yesterday, june 10, 1999.i did not authorize any replacement to be done pending further conversation with ford and request that they replace defective wiring harness at no charge to me.please also note that in june 1998, i completed and filed another vehicle owner's questionanaire, this time having to do with defective wiring relating to the abs system. I received no response from that from dot or ford.this problem, having to do with defective weatherproof covering on the 22 pin electrical connector that controls abs and traction control circuits and causes inadvertent braking.i believe these are problems that need the attention of your agency before injuries or fatalaties take place.

With no warningwiring harness had snapped, causing vehicle not to run. Cause unknown dealer notified.

The majority of the insulation onthe wiringof the engine compartment has become very brittle. Whenever a wire is touched the insulation falls off. This could cause a fire because some of the wires come directly from the battery. In the last three years i have contacted the ford motor company or repersentative and reported this problem. I never got a response. At the present i cannot afford to replace this vehicle, i will as soon as i can. The wiring needs to be look at by some one. Ten years is not long, actually it was seven years when i first noticed the insulation problem.

Ford has refused to replace the wiring harness in my 1995 mercury mystique because:the extended warranty for this vehicle expired in jun 2005 (10 years from 'in service' date.i have owned the vehicle since nov 2003 and never received a recall notice.ford states a letter was sent to a previous owner.i cannot verify this and really view it as irrelevant since the harness was never accomplished on this vehicle.is ford not required to locate and notify subsequent owners of such a recall if the remedy has never been applied to the subject vehicle.surely ford would keep records of remedies applied or not applied?the defective harness has rendered this vehicle completely unuseable, it now sits in the front yard.i cannot afford the repairs on my own (i'm a single mother with a 3 year old).i cannot sell the vehicle in it's present inoperable state.the crux of my complaint is that i feel ford should have made a diligent effort to locate the owners of vehicles affected and which were not repaired as part of the recall.i have contacted ford customer service by phone and e-mail and they refuse to review the matter further.can you help me?

Battery light comes on intermittently. During inspection dealer found nothing. Dealer contacted again, states that the entire car needs to be rewired, estimated costs - $3500.00. Driving approximately 35-40 mph, vehicle stopped and will not start until jump starting, dealer cannot duplicate the problem.

While the vehicle was parked it caught 0n fire from underneath the hood area.

At the speed of 55 mph the car shuts down in the rain or the transmisson slips in and out of gears.recently the check engine light appeared with the air conditioner.i believe its an ongoing electrical issue.

Heater blower switch is blowing out,and blower does not work. Also, consumer found wiring harness burned up underneath engine.

While driving and without warning vehicle caught on fire under the hood. Dealership was notified, vehicle was serviced. However, vehicle was continued to be used, miles later vehicle became inoperable.the engine cooling fan motor and wire harness caught on fire, dealer replaced the engine cooling fan assembly and main fuse, dealer also repaired the burnt wiring, 2 years later, consumer received recalls 00v367, 99m03, 99m06, 00s44/00m13 and 00s44, consumer has not been reimbursed for any of the repairs.dealer replaced right rear weather stripping and reinstalled mold around the handle due to the weather strip bowing.tape player would not eject.vehicle was hard to steer, especially when raining, dealer could not duplicate problem.front brake pads were replaced and rotors were machined due to vibration when braking.vehicle was running rough and acting like it wanted to stall, dealer replaced spark plug wires, vehicle later stalled.right blinker too fast, dealer replaced right rear turn signal bulb.

Vehicle is accelerating slowly. Took car to the dealer for a tune up, and was told exposed wiring from the transmission harness causes the slow acceleration.

Dt*: the contact stated the engine overheated and idled at an elevated level while parked.there is a nhtsa recall, # 00v367000, regarding the engine.the vehicle was seen by an authorized dealer.the service department suggested replacing the wiring harness that supports the electrical currents of the engine.the vehicle has the same problems as indicated in the recall; however it is not included in the recall due to the vin.

Dt*: the contact stated the vehicle temperature gage elevated while driving at normal highway speeds and the engine suddenly shut down. The vehicle had an odor of something burning like plastic. The vehicle was towed to an independent repair shop. The independent mechanic discovered exposed wires leading to the fan and engine. The radiator was flushed, engine performance enhancer was added, spark plugs were replaced, but the exposed wiring was not repaired. The independent mechanic discovered a recall concerning the fan wiring. The vehicle remained parked for two weeks before it was taken to a local service dealer. The dealer began working on obtaining authorization for the recall remedy, but the manufacturer would not authorize the recall remedy because of the age of the vehicle.the contact is the second owner of the vehicle, but the original owner did not receive a recall letter. Therefore the vehicle was never taken to a service dealer for repairs. There is a nhtsa recall, # 00v367000, regarding the engine and engine cooling. Engine check light starting coming on fall 2000.had diagnostics done by the dealer and a service station twice and nobody can find anything wrong.it comes on everyday about 5 minutes after the car has started and stays on the entire time the car is running.started having problems with the coolant summer of 1999.the temp. Gage goes to 3/4 to all the way to the right.but i am told that nothing is wrong with that either.yesterday the temp. 6/15/03 i do not have the exact dates of problems, but i will relate my experiences. Shortly after purchase used in 1999, the brake light switch, which also controls the shift inter- lock, failed.took it to the dealer and they found an open connection behind the glove box that controls the switch operation.they fixed that open connection and the switch worked fine. Then the switch problem started again. Tried a new switch and that failed after a few months. Have gone through six or seven switches and have one now that seems to work. I purchased and installed new switches myself after the first one because ford was charging me about $15 for the part and around $90 to install. Asked service people at ford and they told me that some switches work and some don't. Asked another serviceperson at different dealership and was told these stop light switches rarely fail? got a service bulletin from ford stating that the front strut springs could fail but not to bring the car in until they did fail. Got another bulletin stating that the main electrical connecter for the engine under the hood could fail but again don't bring the car in until this failure happens. Ford did repair a failed hi-speed heater blower connection at their cost. Iasked the tech why he had to raise the car and he said, poor design. Poor design seems to be a common theme with the '95 mystique. By the way mine is a four banger.i guess the most troubling was the brake light switch. Not only can the car not be shifted out of park, the brake lights won't work even when the manual over ride is used. Nothing like not having brake lights on today's roads! the car now has about 78,000 miles. Why so few?didn't want to drive with no brake lights. I see the '95 mystique/contour was nothing but problems. I don't know howservice bulletins concerning front spring failure or main engine harness failure which i described above cannot be classified as recalls.robert soderlund

This, i believe, is manuafacturer's defect that i have tried work with the company and the billy young mercury dealership on this matter.but the dealership and myself have been meet with confusion on the mercury staff at 1-800-392-3673 and what i see as apparent lack of concern over a possible fire hazard.

Last year in march 2001 i had a recall on my engine cooling fan. I brought my car to a local dealership to have ittaken care of . The car at the time waspresenting problems with overheating, excessive torque, and the check engine light was occasionally coming on. The dealership (was laplace ford in laplace, la) only changed the fuse for the fan and nothing else. At the time i brought my car in the mileage was at 84000 miles and the warranty for the fan motor only extended to 100000 miles. Now the problem has become worse and laplace ford is syaing they need to charge me an excess of 450.00 for repairs when in all actuality this problem (which i thought was already taken care of a year ago) i feel should be ford's responsibility to repair. Please advise me in what actions i may take to resolve this issue? thank you.

Serpentine belt can slip whenwet and making a turn because youlose power steering and engine may stop.very dangerous even though it happens at slow speed because hard steering and brakeing, not power assisted. I feel that this vehicle is a lemon and i am not getting any satisfation from ford or the dealership.i feel that legal action is the only solution.

When driving behind large vehicles in the rain water gets in the engine, causing it to hydrolock, making it possible to lose control of the car.

Request for reimbursement for replacement of gas tank since it is a product of a defect.*mrgas station attendant was fueling the vehicle when a large puddle of gas leaked form under the vehicle. Vehicle was taken to the mechanic who stated it should be covered by ford.prior to this incident, the gas tank kept shutting off automatically and the attendant had to pump it slowly to keep it from shutting off while being filled. Consumer was told by the dealership the vehicle would be looked over and it was dependent upon the mileage and condition of the vehicle. Consumer contacted the mechanic and relayed the info. From the dealership. Mechanic stated his computer showed a recall for the fuel tank and should be covered. Consumer again contacted another ford dealership who stated there was no recall. Mechanic did repair vehicle.*ph

Gas tank filler neck failed prior to recall notice. (94v18400).

Fuel tank is leaking fuel, consumer hadfuel filler line replaced in 1998. Currently, it needs to be replaced again. There is a recall, but this vehicle isnot affected due to vin.

The dealership said they would fix her car and they had it for the day and they have not touched even though they said the recall work was done (94v184000).

Fuel vapor smell. Diagnosed as a failed hose at the top of the fuel tank (between the tank and the vehicle body). Service writer indicated that the problem was caused by flexing between the body and the tank and that, in his opinion, the design did not take the flexing into account sufficiently. There was a fuel leak, and the vehicle would have leaked significant fuel in a roll over.

The drivers doorfailed to latch.the car was not damaged in any way or broken into.fortunately the car wasnt moving at the time, there was no reason for it to fail.the drivers door andpassenger door had to be tied together with rope in interior of car to drive it to dealer.i also had to hold on thedoor to prevent it from opening.the dealer made the repairwith a clip and new latch, however i was held responsible for the118.00 bill.if this isnta safety issue then i dontknow what else it could be.a drivers door latchshould never fail at 60287 miles!this car has been driven by an adult and has the normal wear and tear.certain components of a car should be warrantied for 100,000 miles.i have had numerous problemswith this car, but this is the first time i felti had to complain about this!!these dealers and the manufacturer have to be held responsible when a car has a safety defect!such as this one.a trend shouldnt have to be established when it concerns a safety matter.i would be curious to know what other mystique owners think of this problem.there are certainly plenty of them with customer complaints.i feel all of us are getting taken to the cleaners and the mess still remains!thank you for letting me vent my frustrations.i havent yetcommunicated with the manufacturer ford mercury division but i willcertainly do so.sincerely,[xxx]. Hand brake fails to hold car when moving or stopped

Due todefective parking brake which became corroded, parking brake did not release.also, premature wearof rear brake pads, caused extended stopping distance whichcouldresult in a crash. Brake cable was replaced after much delay.*ml

Had all new brake pads at 56000 miles. At dealer service at 77000 dealer noted rear brakes at 10%.dealer new of problem, corroded parking brake cable. Part has been on back order since april servicing. Neither dealer or ford will say when available.

The transmission just started slipping upon initial acceleration and the speedometer needle flipped over to zero and stuck.took back to the dealer where i bought it used (weliever) who took it to wilcher ford as an authorized ford dealer.they initially said it was the transmission/vehicle speed sensor and replaced that.that did not cure the speedometer problem.so they are ordering a new speedometer cable. I will not know if this cures the transmission problem until vehicle is returned.but this failure seems similar to odi id 513344 in your recall list.could you furnish more information to me about this case and/or check to see if my vehicle is listed as still outstanding on any recalls?

Speedometer performs erratically.

Speedometer needle bounces around then stops on 0, vehicle jerks and slows down to 0 mph and sometimes stalls.vehicle also vibrates when in any gear and not moving.

Transmission failed once.nlm

Consumer statedvehicle jumped out of gear, even when slamming on the brakes, vehicle would not stop.this resulted inseveral accidents.consumer tookvehicle to the dealer/mechanic, and was told that they could notresolve the problem.

At the speed of 55 mph the car shuts down in the rain or the transmisson slips in and out of gears.recently the check engine light appeared with the air conditioner.i believe its an ongoing electrical issue.

A/t:when shift into reverse, vehicle rolled forward about 2 inches; hard acceleration to back up; jumped as though emergency brakes were applied.tt

This mercury mystique has been a problem from the first time i drove it. All of the recalls were serviced by the dealer but i also experienced both front struts breaking, the front spring breaking, the front rotors cracking and the list goes on. The last straw was when the transmission failed at 74,000. The complete unit was replaced at a cost of over $2,000!! i've read the list of complaints on the 95' mystique and it's makes me want to cry. I will never by a ford product again.

Transmission leaks.

Since we have purchased this car its been nothing but problems. The first thing was the blower for the heater and air conditioner was making a loud rattling noise.then thebrain for the transmission went out and would not allow the car to shift automatically. Next, the power steering pump leaked ,so that had to be repaired. Then , here comes a good one...the front left rotor and calipor went bad..now this is evenbetter, two weeks ago on the 11th of january, the 2 rear coil springs broke without warning, almost causing my wife to loose control of the car. This also caused the rear brakes to seize up and warp the rotors and calipors. I informed ford of the problem and they responded "thank you for letting us know of your problems, this will help us build better products in the future." we have a case id # 189341, this is the number ford gave us. Thank you for listening to our problems, hopefully you can help us and many others that have had similar problems get some real results!!s

I have replaced: engine, transmission, blower motor, brakes, now the struts are going out. The car is a lemon!!

Overdrive disengaged/engaged itself.

When vehicle is in reverse itmakes a very strange noise. When backing out and applying brakes, the vehicle makes the same noise. No warranty. Dealer contacted and cannot find a problem.

Throttle sticks at wide open position. This caused damage to the transmission, which now grinds when shifting into third gear. The driveshaft was replaced due to noise and vibration at a cost of $1,100.00, but this did not fix the problem. The heater fan switch has failed twice. The first time it was covered under a voluntary program.

While traveling on the highway and without prior warningvehicle downshifts.

Vehicle would not go into reverse; slipped when shifting; transmission had to be replaced.

Transmission slips at 50 mph or more causing vehicle to have no power which could result in an collision.

Transmission problems.

A/t:when shift into reverse, vehicle rolled forward about 2 inches; hard acceleration to back up; jumped as though emergency brakes were applied.tt

Automatic transmission failure.

While driving on the highway at 65mph,transmission would jump from overdrive to third gear on its own. Sometimes jump from neutral to overdrive. Whouldnot have prior warnings. Had contacted dealer & taken vehicle to mechanic. Problem can not be duplicated.

Automatic transmission fails to down shift while driving. Dealership replace dthe transmission, but the problem still exists.

I feel that this vehicle is a lemon and i am not getting any satisfation from ford or the dealership.i feel that legal action is the only solution.

While driving vehicle changes gears. Consumer statesvehicle slows down.

Transmission problem has been analyzed several times by both ford dealer and other shops.they feel solenoids internally have failed and transmission must be rebuilt/replaced. Vehicle does not shift properly, will not go into overdrive (4th gear).loss of cruise control. What shifting remains is erratic.speedometer gear drive sheared off and was replaced before full extent of problem becameknown.in reading on the net about other people with same problem, appears solenoid failure in this transmission is common and premature.

I have replaced: engine, transmission, blower motor, brakes, now the struts are going out. The car is a lemon!!

The vehicle jumps forward when being put into gear. Dealer says computer on board is telling the transmission there is a malfunction.

This is the 2nd transmission to blow in this car! the first one went at 43,500. I reported this to you on 4/28/99 in your database! three years later same month my 2nd one blew out and now i have to pay another 2,000 bucks for what clearly is a defective ford transmission! why has nhtsa not done anything about this! when it blew out i was going 55 miles an hour and i was almost rear-ended by an 18 wheeler! this has been a problem for years. Nhtsa is good at authoring a recall on seatbelts and cup-holders but when it comes to a high priced part you do nothing as the consumer continues to get raped! thanks alot nhtsa!

Upon driving the car jolts and halts as if shifting into nuetral

While driving vehicle would stall at any given time, and speedwhen shifting gears.transmission was replaced by mechanic.

Consumer complaining because recall work not performed prior to cars sale.

I first told the dealer of a small leak. They said it was nothing. I've had nothing but problems with this car and ford refuses to address the problems. I know of many people who have had similar problems. I should not be paying $3,000 for a new transmission for a car that only has 43,594 miles on it. The government should do something about this ongoing problem. The consumer shouldn't be raped by manufacturers lack of interest in making vehicles that will last past 50,000 miles when they ask for tens of thousands up front for their product. Please help!!!!!!

Rpms running at 400-600 rpm's in drive, idlecauses it to shake. Normally it runs 800-1000rpms. Consumer went todealer regardingtsb, understanding that it was not a recall.transmission is going bad because it's too close toengine.dealer will fix the problem atconsumer's cost.

Gear shift would lock up; needs a screwdriver to unlock it & move it to neutral position; can not put into park or needs to repeat process.

The construction of the trunk allows water to enter. Also, when vehicle is started, the gear shift would lock up. The solenoid locked due to the cup holder's location.

Gear shift gets stuck in the park position, and a screwdriver is needed to getgears loose. Dealer has been contacted. Please provide further details.

Excessive vibration when shifting in and out of gears, causing vehicle to lurch forward.

Gear shift lever and knob failed causing difficulty in shifting gears. Mjs

Vehicle was experiencing the same defect with its shift lever as stated in recall 98 v 233 000,but this vehicle not included in recall due to vin.

Transmission gear gets stuck in park or reverse. When this happens consumer cannot get vehicle into drive.sometimes it gets in drive and cannot be placed into park.dealer has not been contacted.

Consumer states the main bolt securing the left rear seatbelt assembly to the floor broke off completely while adjusting and pulling on the belt, upon examination consumer found the sheared surface of the broken bolt to be corroded rather than shinny, which suggested to the consumer that the bolt had been broken for a long time and had almost certainly been overstressed during the original installation, consumer was advised by dealership that warranty had expired and that he would be responsible for the necessary repairs.

I commute a long distance to work, when i can't fill up my gas tank and the engine light constantly comes on i don't feel safe. When it rains the car sometimes losing power and brakes. The tires and brakes have already been replaced. The following items have also been reolaced, seat belts, air conditioner, drivers side eletric window motor, the horn and more. Whenever i take the car to the dealership i am told that the engine light coming on is no big deal and the brakes and tires were normal wear and tear (the car was maybe a year to a year and a half old) they also told me there is nothing they can do about the gas tank not filling up. I am extremely dissatisfied and would like to know what i can do legally about it. My car is going into the shop again for what i think may be the sensors (this has happened before) the only differance is that this will be the second time i have to pay out of my pocket, i have contacted lemon law, the dealership, ford, and the bank holding the lease. Lemon law contacted the dealership and this was the only time i received service with a smile instead of an attitude. Even though the problem is still not resolved.please let me know what i can do to have these problems resolved.( dot number: )

Each of these problems happened within 1 week of one another.i contacted my dealership and the mercury customer hotline, both of whom said it wasn't their problem since the vehicle was past the 36,000 mile warranty.so many failures, just 2000 miles out of warranty, however, is inexcusable, and mercury should have stood behind their product.

Speedometer needle bounces around then stops on 0, vehicle jerks and slows down to 0 mph and sometimes stalls.vehicle also vibrates when in any gear and not moving.

I have replaced: engine, transmission, blower motor, brakes, now the struts are going out. The car is a lemon!!

In feb 1999 we received a recall notice for failure of the front springs on this vehicle since it originally had been sold in a snow/cold state. The front springs have not failed. However there was noise and poor handling in the rear of the car. Investigation by a ford dealer in tucson did not disclose any failure of springs. The dealer recomended replacement of rear struts. This work was authorized at an independent repair facility (ase certified mechanic) upon dissassembly of the strut unit both rear springs werre found to be broken near the top.the failure was attributed to corrosion.i requested a meeting with a ford motor co representative to show the failed springs and rquest reimbursement for the parts. Met with paul berradi. He refused to acknowledge there was a problem although he did write down and document the failure. He advised me to keep receipts to claim reimbursement if ford ever did recall the rear springs. I have these papers.

While drivingwould hear a rocking noise coming from front of vehicle. Then, stopped, and found out that coil springswere broken without a prior warning of the problem.

Both rear springs broke.the car is only 5 years old.the heaviest items ever carried were 3 bags ofgroceries.i received a letter from ford motor company in 1999 regarding the possible failure of the front coil springs. I want to write to ford motors regarding this matter, who do i write to,at what address

The front coil springs came through the left front tire, causingtire to go flat immediately, and vehicle became uncontrollable. Dealer would only repair front coil springs if there is a break & nothing else.

Both rear coil springs completely broken.ford has issued an extended warranty on the front coil springs, but refuses to fix the rear springs.i have conducted much research and have learned that this is a widespread problem with the 1995 mystique.failure to fix the springs may result in a punctured tire.

I consider it very unusual for a vehicle to break both front coil springs within 3 months of each other.i had both replaced at meineke muffler and brakes at a cost of approx. $230.00.

Owner noticed squeaking noise, later learned noise was result of broken stabilizer bar at the bolts.

Suspension bolts & coil springs had rusted through & broke. Happened while driving vehicle. Had no warning of any problems. Took vehicle to dealer & informed by mechanic repairs can be done.

Engine check light continues to come on. Dealer has repaired vehicle several times, problem still exists. Provide further information.

Engine check light starting coming on fall 2000.had diagnostics done by the dealer and a service station twice and nobody can find anything wrong.it comes on everyday about 5 minutes after the car has started and stays on the entire time the car is running.started having problems with the coolant summer of 1999.the temp. Received recall notice (*97v225000). Called & set appointment.was called back & told no parts. While driving pressed on accelerator & no power., later it kicked in, intermittent only. Took to dealer & told to make other appointmentin front & leave vehicle. Needed vehicle for work in evenings & could not leave vehicle all day.

Vehicles speed kept increasing when foot was taken off the accelerator.the only way to stop the vehicle was to turn the vehicle off.

I bought this car on june 22,2011. On that day i told the dealer that the speedometer was acting erratic, jumping up and down. At the time, it wasn't affecting the speed. They said they know and just wait and see what happens. About a month or so later, the speedometer stopped working, causing the car to hesitate a little. I brought it back and they got a cable from a used contour and rigged it so it would work. So they claim.i was also told they just repaired the cable differently. Regardless, they said they repaired it.it worked and i drove it for at least another 2 months or so now and it failed again.i drove back to the shop and they say its a dealer part or they don't even make them anymore?i don't know how fast im going, which is dangerous and as of today, the 9th of sept2011, it doesn't work.

Vehicle experienced sudden acceleration when consumer is not accelerating.while driving at higher speeds, the vehicle speed will drop unexpectedly, and after a moment it would return to the actual speed which results in stalling . In addition, vehicle shakes / vibrates. Consume states vehicle will accelerate itself up to 20 mph without giving any gas and then will drop down again to the speed it was before, vehicle will decelerate to 10 mph, without stalling and then will return to speed that was traveling before.
