I am receiving false readings as to the activation of the air bags. This happens when i am starting the vehicle and also when i am operating the vehicle on the highway. I can turn the vehicle off and restart it, and sometimes the indicator works properly and sometimes it does not. I experience the same problem sometimes when the passenger seat is occupied. My concern is the fact i don't know if my airbag is operational or not. I contacted my local dealer and was informed i would be charged $99 to just have it checked.i have not done so.

Driver's seat moved back, dome lights illuminated (vehicles "easy exit" feature) while driving at highway speeds.luckily i am tall enough to reach the pedals and wheel while the seat was moved back, but my wife is only 5' 4" and would have a hard time reaching.this is a serious issue that has been happening to many other mountaineers as evidenced by the many reports on the internet.the cause is any slight bumping of the ignition switch or the steering column/wheel.

The contact owns a 2007 mercury mountaineer. While driving approximately 40 mph, the front driver's side seat moved backward and forward independently. The vehicle was taken to the dealer for diagnostic testing. The technician was able to duplicate the failure and recommended replacing the ignition. The technician advised that if the failure continued, then the seating harness would have to be replaced. The contact had the technician disconnect the seat. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 52,000.

Exact same as nhtsa id # 10654146. The "easy exit" feature activated at 65 mph in freeway traffic. I am 6' tall and was able to slide seat forward, but my wife is 5' tall and may have had issues reaching the pedals... This has since happened on 3 other occasions ( 2 at freeway speed, and once pulling into our driveway). I will contact dealer, but wanted search recalls first.

Upon driving on the freeway the inside dome lights came on and my seat started adjusting itself back and forth while driving.

When driving the vehicle at any speed the seat moves all the way back and the interior lights come on.this also happens when you brake or go over a bump.this is very dangerous to someone of my size because when the seat goes all the way back i can no longer touch the pedals.this is happening very often and i have googled it and i can see that a lot of other people who own this year make and model are having the same problems with their vehicle.i have taken it to several mechanics and ford dealers and nobody seems to be able to figure out what is wrong with it.

The contact owns a 2007 mercury mountaineer. While driving at an unknown speed, the driver's seat adjusted on its own. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the ignition needed to be replaced. The repair was not made. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The vin was unknown. The failure mileage was 87,000. Updated 09/29/16*lj the consumer stated the piston type hood holding system failed. The hoodcame crashing down.updated 08/09/2017

The same as other complaints except it is an ongoing problem.easy exit feature activates on its own, dome light comes on at slow or moderate speed, sudden stops and turning. Sometimes it corrects itself and sometimes you have to manually adjust the seat.very annoying and unsafe

I was driving home on a busy city street when i stop at a stop light to turn right. When i went to accelerate my mercury mountaineer when in to limp mode. As i inspected the suv for problems i noticed the my engine/transmission wire harness was brittle and exposing bare wire and that the wires were touching each others cause them to short off the vehicle computer system and frying electrical components. It also caused the transmission to malfunction and shift wrong which in turn causing the torque converter to fail and destroy the transmission.

Apparently there have been a lot of issues with the thermostat housing leaking fluid into the electrical system causing it to short out.i was driving, went to take off in rush hour traffic and they vehicle wouldn't go because the leak and ruined a part of the electrical system and the gears would shift.it was almost like the transmission had gone out.i have read several accounts where this has happened to tons of <09 mountaineers and explorers.tsb 09-22-15 came out about this issue.i was driving with my infant daughter and we could have been injured very badly.something needs to be done about this.it has been identified and apparenlty affects people's cars and their ability to accelerate.very dangerous.

1st while driving the driver'sseat continues to move back n forth from way back to up close driving this vehicle while this seat moves is very dangerous everytime i lock the doors they unlock n only lock when off

While driving my seat will randomly move back and forth as if i took the keys out. Thought something was wrong with my transmission but after having the garage put transmission fluid in it still feels like the transmission is messed up even though the garage says the transmission is fine.

Seat moved back for "easy exit" all vehicle components shut off and vehicle brakes locked up in the road then cut back on by itself and transmission jerked into gear like someone rear ended us! very scary and unsafe with my 10 month old in the vehicle!

While driving at any speed the seat will go back to its parked position and the interior light comes on as if the car was shut off.you touch the key ignition and the seat goes back to driving position and the light goes out.

The contact owns a 2007 mercury mountaineer.the contact stated while driving various speeds the automatic driver's seat would move independently and the interior lights illuminated independently.this failure continued to occur for a month. The vehicle was not taken to a dealer for diagnostic testing. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 112,000.

Passenger seatbelt locks will not unlock unless you unbuckel the belt it just keeps getting tighter have a problemwhere the you push down on gas it won't do anythingfor a momentthen jolt forward an the main problem it with the electric if you barley touch the ignition switch or controls for the seat the seat moves the ignitionalso not only moves the seat but a couple times it has shut the car off and once locked us in the car had to put the keys in and start to get it to unlock and once locked us out with keys still in ignition switch

- seat ( driver's seat) automatically moves while driving causing a safety issues.- excess water leakage around left door jam in water run down into base of floor- water seepage around sun roof- tire sensor ( left)

Car ran rough & hesitated/surged upon acceleration. Apparently this is a common ford problem involving premature spark plug break down in the ford triton enginesee ford spark plug class action settlement. Shultz ford in nanuet ny diagnosed the problem as faulty plugs, there was also a risk of breaking plugs upon removal. I had them do the repairs at a cost of $788.later i found that there was a settlement, however my car was not included even though it had the same engine as the cars/trucks/ suv's that were included in the settlement. Ford customer service said there was nothing they could do re: reimbursing me for the repair expense as my suv was not included in the settlement. They suggested i file this complaint. Can i get some satisfaction?

The contact owns a 2007 mercury mountaineer. The contact stated while driving 40 mph the vehicle stalled without warning. The vehicle was towed to the dealer for inspection and they stated that the engine overheated and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 90,000. The vin was unavailable.

I was driving on the highway and noticed that my steering was not working well. My engine was overheating and eventually shut off. I had to pull over on the side of the highway. When i got someone to look at the car, we realized it had no coolant. We filled up the coolant and everything seemed fine. About a month later i noticed that the engine was making the same noise as it had before as if it were working too hard. I checked the coolant and it was completely empty again. I have a friend who also owns the mm and had the same problem. The repair and cost of a new radiator was 1500. Ford/merucy needs to do a recall on this product and get it taken care of. I just purchased this car in january and should not have to be spending so much money on a repair.

A repair shop told me that my engine was leaking coolant that could make the engine run hot and fail.after doing some online research, i found that this is a common problem with these vehicles as ford used a cheap plastic part which easily cracks and allows coolant to leak.the leak also affects other parts of the engine cause them to perform improperly.ford is aware of this problem but has failed to issue a recall despite their knowledge and the risks to the consumer.

My transmission jerks as i accelerate during travel. To me it's getting worse. I have had it looked at. No codes are showing that i have a problem. But clearly something is wrong. I have done this several times, still no codes to indicate anything is wrong with my vehicle. Also my gas sensors are shot. Engine light goes in and out. My vehicle has stopped in the middle of atlanta traffic, causing problems of other vehicles traveling in the direction that i am with children. I also have the problem with backing my vehicle, it jerks before backing.

I have a 2007 mercury mountaineer with 42,000 miles on it and was notified by my dealership that there is a leak in the radiator and it needs to be replaced.my dealership told me this was common problem with mountaineers but ford will not stand behind the equipment.

I am the owner of a 2007 mercury mountaineer.it has about 64,000 miles on it, most of them highway miles.i have a leak in my radiator.the dealer says it is a defect in the radiator, and no corrosion is present.it is out of warranty, so i must bear the cost of replacement of the radiator.cost ~$700.i do not drive off road, so there is no valid reason the radiator should have failed.during an internet search, i discovered this is a common problem with 2006 and 2007 mercury mountaineers and ford explorers.this issue should be investigated, and ford held accountable for putting defective parts in their vehicles.

The contact owns a 2007 mercury mountaineer. The dealer informed the contact the radiatorneeded to replaced. The vehicle was taken to the dealer who will repair the failure at the contacts expense.the dealer informed her there was no recalls or warranty on the vehicle. The manufacturer was contacted and offered no assistance. The failure mileage was 61,000. Updated 06/03/11 the consumer stated one month later, the power steering pump had to be replaced. Upon driving on the freeway the inside dome lights came on and my seat started adjusting itself back and forth while driving.

I was driving my vehicle and the driver's seat moved back, and the dome light came on.this really scared me! thank god i wasn't on the highway traveling at a higher rate of speed with other vehicles when this occurred.the first time this happened was approximately 3 months ago (the seat moves back, i move the seat up & it goes back again, i move it up again...until it finally stops).this continues to happen periodically every since.

First off when i bought the vehicle the rear wiper does not work. Secondly when you put the vehicle in reverse it jolts before going into reverse. Finally it only let's you put so much of fuel into the gas tank at a time before stopping the fuel flow into the gas tank.

The contact owns a 2007 mercury mountaineer. While driving various speeds, the interior lighting illuminated and the driver's seat unintentionally moved backwards. The contact stated that the failures occurred periodically. The vehicle was not taken to a dealer for diagnostic testing or repairs. The manufacturer was made aware of the failures. The failure mileage was 207,000.

I turn my 2007 mountaineer awd on and it accelerates, so i let it stop idling high and if it doesn't totally shut offi then proceed to put my truck either in drive or reverse and it jerks very hard. I have already hit my garage because i was not able to stop the vehicle. I already took it to ford and they told me that the engine light is not on so they can't do anything about it.they little wrench symbol is on though.i am so scared thati am going to end up killing someone. I wish i could afford to not drive my truck around but it is my only transportation. I have to drive my 4 kids with me and it concerns me.some one please help, from what i see is another toyota disaster waiting to happen.

Transmission would not shift out of low gear

The contact owns a 2007 mercury mountaineer. The contact was driving approximately 50 mph when a vibration was felt and the transmission began to slip gears. The failure appeared to occur more frequently in warm weather temperatures. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer but the technician was unable to duplicate the problem. In addition, the instrument panel and gauges would illuminate intermittently as a result of defective pixels. The front driver's side power seat would move backward and forward freely while the vehicle was in motion. The contact would shut off the vehicle and once restarted, the failures would correct independently until later recurring without warning.in addition, the headlights failed intermittently. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired for the failures. The manufacturer was notified of the defects. The approximate failure mileage was 46,000.

When traveling in "overdrive", upon acceleration, the transmission will buck, violently depending how hard you press on the pedal. The only time this will not happen is if you control the vehicle speed with the cruise control. I haven,t had it go to the dealer as of yet for inspection, so there are no conclusions as of yet as to what may be wrong.

While on the freeway my car started to loose power. I would push on the gas and the car would not accelerate. Since the first time this has happened on numerous occasions. And have taken it to many mechanics which finds out nothing is wrong of course. Finally i find out this is a throttle position sensor made by ford. And there has been many ford cars and parts experiencing this same thing. This is definitely a safety hazard so why has for not recalled this? do people have to start dying before they do something?

While driving my seat will randomly move back and forth as if i took the keys out. Thought something was wrong with my transmission but after having the garage put transmission fluid in it still feels like the transmission is messed up even though the garage says the transmission is fine.

My 2007 mercury mountaineer never had any problems until recently, thought it was the transmission because of the way it drove. Took it to the mechanic and got transmission fluid put in but the problems remained the same and was told the transmission was fine. My thermostat housing unit was leaking (this is very common with these cars and very dangerous, needs immediate attention!) and had caused very expensive wiring issues. Almost acts exactly like the transmission is going out - rpm's are way too high, the vehicle would not accelerate in the middle of city traffic, the car jumped at a stoplight and caused me to hit the car in front of me, and it doesn't shift properly. Problems occurred out of nowhere and are too dangerous to be ignored but very expensive to be fixed. Its very common and should be recalled before someone gets seriously injured!!!!

Vehicle will not shift out of park. Shift is locked into park and will not shift to any gear and depressing lever button and brake will not release out of park. I purchased the vehicle from huntington ford in rochester hill and bought the extended warranty and was told by fords service department this is not covered and would cost $500.00 just for the part. After researching this problem i have noticed other complaints about this issue that the car will not move out of park. This seems like it may be a defect because i have never experienced this problem out of many vehicles i have owned for years.

I had to replace the transmission and some other related parts in my vehicle and i was informed by a dealership that there was a "silent recall" on this transmission and that even though ford motor company was aware of the issues as early as 2000 they continue to install them in vehicles.if you look online you will see quite a number of complaints on this transmission.i feel since ford knowingly kept using these transmissions and was well aware of their possible failure when they reached 130,000 miles that they should be responsible for at least a portion of he costs if indeed, not all of the cost of replacement.what happens when a car company puts out a silent recall?do i have any rights?i have already sent a certified letter to ford motor customer relations in dearborn, mi and i have a signed receipt that they accepted my letter but they have not bothered to contact me at all.what are my options and is this something you can help me with? the first time this transmission caused a problem was when we were in 5 pm traffic on a road with a speed limit of 55 miles an hour and the car just stopped leaving my family in the middle of a busy two lane road which was very dangerous. We were finally able to get the vehicle to the shoulder. I can forward my bills and copies of online conversations regarding the failure of these transmissions.

Seat moved back for "easy exit" all vehicle components shut off and vehicle brakes locked up in the road then cut back on by itself and transmission jerked into gear like someone rear ended us! very scary and unsafe with my 10 month old in the vehicle!

We bought the car 2 years ago and a few months after we have purchased it, it started to act up. When we pull the shift gear to reversed, it jerks real bad as if we were rear ended. A few times, the shift gear would be stuck. We could not pull the shifter down to reverse from park. It normally takes us an hour so to do it but tonight, it was worst. We were stuck on park...finally after an hour, we were able to pull it from park and onto reverse from the garage. Only this time reverse was park, neutral was reverse, drive was neutral and 3 was drive. It was so frustrating....and to top that off, my husband and i both got into a heated argument over this stupid car!! we still cannot get it fixed because we don't have the money!!!

The contact owns a 2007 mercury mountaineer. Immediately after the vehicle was turned on without warning, it accelerated and crashed into a store. The police gave her a ticket for careless driving. The vehicle was towed to an authorized dealer. She was not informed of the repairs that were made to the vehicle. The contact has had problems with the vehicle since she purchased it. Prior to the failure, whenever she engaged the brake pedal the vehicle accelerated without warning; however, the dealer stated that there was nothing wrong with the vehicle. The vehicle was destroyed per the insurance company. The contact was always concerned about the safety risk and defect in the vehicle . The failure and current mileages were 30000.updated 11/04/09.*ljthe consumer stated the vehicle made a noise when the gear was placed in reverse. Updated 11/05/09

The contact owns a 2007 mercury mountaineer. The contact stated that the vehicle failed to shift out of park. The vehicle was towed to a dealer where it was determined that the gear shifter needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact also stated that the shift cable failed during one of the occurrences. The manufacturer was contacted about the failure. The failure mileage was 43,236. Updated 09/18/13*ljthe consumer stated when she started the vehicle, the gear shiftmoved freely and would not engage any gear. The vehicle was towed by a flatbed. It was determined the gear shift lever circuit board needed to be replaced. On july 3, 2012, the gear shift became stuck in park. Again, the vehicle had to be towed. The technician found the shift cable off and the shifter was not working properly. The shifter was replaced. One month later, the gear shift became stuck in park again, and was towed for a third time. However, upon arrival it was not stuck in park anymore. She was informed that the slight incline of the driveway where it was parked may have caused the weight of the vehicle to sit on the park ball causing the gear to hold the shifter. The repair shop recommended the consumer activate the emergency brake, at all times. On june 10, 2013. The vehicle became stuck in park again. The consumer called the repair shop, and someone came out to her house. Once the technician rocked the vehicle back and fourth, it came out of park. The consumer went to a transmission shop, where she was informed the angle of the lever had been modified 24 times, the rod and pawl had been modified 12 times. Update 09/26/13

Vehicle's transmission "clunks" or hard shifts, when slowing down and coming to a stop, or at low speeds. Surges at stop lights, or will hesitate when the gas pedal is pushed. This has been an ongoing problem since i purchased the vehicle in 1997. I have taken it back to the dealer numerous times, and they tell me that 1. Nothing is wrong with the transmission or 2. They have downloaded a new program for the computer. I know there is something wrong, but no one will fix this. Now it's 4000 miles over warranty, and the problem is getting worse. Sooner or later this will cause an accident.

Had to replace transmission completely at 137,000 miles. There's been a lot of complaints about these transmissions at this mileage and ford should be responsible for some of the cost. This is ridiculous.

Transmission hard downshift when stopping or in slow traffic. Vehicle surges almost "leaps" forward while at a stop when foot taken off of brake pedal. Almost hit vehicle in front. Another mountaineer owner refers to it as a "bump stop". This occurs daily although not every time the vehicle stops or slows. The is very unnerving in stop & go traffic as you have to keep your foot on the brake and leave a large space between the vehicle in front to avoid rear ending the other vehicle. Took vehicle to aamco as our ford dealership is deplorable, aamco could not detect any defects. Vehicle has 19,000 miles and is still under factory warranty.

Transmission jukesahead while traveling on long distances and short. When i let off of brake pedal it lounges forward. It has gotten worse in 2months time. I brought it to the dealer which in turn told me i must wait for a recall per ford motor co. I feel this is nonsense being this matter is getting worse!!! what,i have to wait for my vehicle to die before i can get something done about it?!!! bullcrap! thanks teresa

Transmission jerks ahead while traveling on long distances and short. It has gotten worse. When i apply gas and use the passing gear to accelerate it shakes violently. Going in and out of neutral it would seem. Vehicle is 2007 53,000 miles. Currently at dealer with transmission specialist. They are talking to ford hq for direction and have tried unsuccessfully to fix it so far. They are now looking at megatronics. Internet blogs show this is very common in ford suv's and not a new problem but overlooked for sure.

The contact owns a 2007 mercury mountaineer.the transmission made noises when downshifting at 15 mph or when starting the vehicle.the dealer reprogrammed the vehicle.the contact took the vehicle home, but the failure worsened.the transmission continued to slip.she returned to the dealer and left the vehicle there for a few days.a new computer part was placed in the vehicle, but the failure still persists.there is no repair for the failure.the failure mileage was 9,000 and current mileage was 9,500.

Intermittently, the seat moves to the 'easy egress' position while the car is in motion. The dome light comes on, as it would if you were getting out of the car. From reading the many similar complaints, i agree that it happens when braking or turning and it happens at all speeds. This started happening about one month ago. No accident yet but it's very jarring and dangerous.

While driving the power drivers seat began to move back as if the car had been shut off. It has occurred several times. I have found that by moving the ignition key the seat returns to the driving position.the danger is twofold 1. It puts the driver in an unsafe position. 2. It could easily cause a severe accident.i am taking the car to a ford dealer to have it corrected.

I was driving on the expressway at 55 mph. I hit a slight bump in the road. The dome lights came on and the seat moved backwards, as if i had just removed the key from the ignition. I thankfully thought quickly and pushed on the key, which made the seat move back into position. It was just a miracle that the first thing i thought to do to fix the problem actually did. That could have been a very serious incident, as my feet were too far from the brake pedal and i could hardly reach it. I would not have been able to stop if i needed to stop quickly. That was the first of many occurrences. It has happened to me turning corners, driving on bumpy roads, having to brake suddenly (i just barely missed hitting the car in front of me), and even pulling in and out of my driveway.

I was driving down the road at 75 mph and the drivers seat moved back to the easy exit position and the light came on.this also happened to my 16 year old daughter as she was driving the vehicle to the store the other day and really frightened her.

The contact owns a 2007 mercury mountaineer. While driving approximately 40 mph, the front driver's side seat moved backward and forward independently. The vehicle was taken to the dealer for diagnostic testing. The technician was able to duplicate the failure and recommended replacing the ignition. In regards to fitting two backless booster seats in the middle row of a 60-40 fold bench: on the passenger side- the seat does not slope on the sides and the buckle has a cloth strap and it is flexible and moves out of the slot to fit to his buckle.the seat is slightly wider than the drivers side. Driver's side- the seat is more contoured and the buckle is affixed to the seat and does not move or come up because of the 60-40 split. When the booster seat is placed out of the edge of the contour on the drivers side- it completely covers the buckle. Therefore, one must sit the booster unsafely at an angle where one side is higher than the other to get the buckle to fit in. I am certain in the event i slam on my brakes or get rearended, one child's seat would go flying, whereas the other seat fits safe and secure (passenger side).

While driving on a few different occasions now, my driver's seat which is power operated moved backwards on its own and the interior lights came on.i had to readjust the seat myself and then the interior lights went out once the seat was readjusted.the first time it happened i thought it was just a fluke as i have only owned this vehicle a little over a month.it has happened maybe 4-5 times now.today i was going around a curve in the road and it happened.it really could have caused an accident because it was on the interstate and i was traveling 55-60 mph.

The contact owns a 2007 mercury mountaineer. The contact stated that while driving approximately 40 mph, the front driver's side seat moved back inadvertently. The manufacturer was not made aware of failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The vin was not available. The approximate failure mileage was 100,000.

While driving on the highway the drivers seat moved all the way back and interior lights came on. The seat proceeded to go forward and backwards numerous times. This has happened regularly from september to december. On back roads and highways.

While driving the driver seat went back taking my foot off the pedal. This happens all the time.i have tried to deactivate the easy exit program but i have not been able to.

While driving my children to school this morning my seat adjusted itself a couple of times so that i had a difficult time reaching the pedals until i could get it back to the proper position. This has happened before but i thought it was a "fluke". Today, when i picked my kids up and drove home it happened 7 times in 3 miles and almost caused me to hit a pedestrian. This happened on a city street. I was unable to isolate a "trigger" to the movement. One time i was going about 30 on a street, another time i was slowing down to a stop sign at a busy intersection.

The contact owns a 2007 mercury mountaineer. The contact stated that while driving at approximately 30 mph, the seat intermittently moved backwards. The failure recurred multiple times.

I hit a bump and the seat moved back and the dome light turned on.i am 6 foot 1 and even for me the pedals are a reach. It has also happened to wife and she is much shorter than me and cannot reach the pedals at all. This is very dangerous.

The drivers seat, will, without warning, while driving on the interstate, automatically start moving backwards to it's default position.sometimes the interior light will come on simultaneously.in a panic, so far, i have been able to stop the backward movement by grabbing the seat position button and forcing it to move back up to the preset position where i have been able to get my feet back on the pedals.this has occurred multiple times while driving full speed on interstates, on side streets and frontage roads and everytime without warning.one time, while sitting at a stop sign, i could not catch it quickly enough and it moved so far back that my feet could not reach any of the pedals!luckily that time i was sitting still.this has been happening for three years.

The contact owns a 2007 mercury mountaineer. While driving at unknown speeds, the driver seat would move back independently and prevented the contact from reaching the accelerator and brake pedals. The failure occurred if the keys were inadvertently touched or when driving over a bump. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic for diagnostic testing, but was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 70,000.

The contact owns a 2007 mercury mountaineer. The contact stated while driving at unknown speeds, the driver's seat moved in reverse independently and without warning. The failure recurred several times. The contact mentioned that the driver seat switch had been replaced previously but the failure persisted. The vehicle was taken to a dealer. The technician verified that the driver seat switch needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the issue. The approximate failure mileage was 90,000.

When making a sudden stop, the brake pedal goes to the floor while maintaining pressure on the brake pedal. When holding vehicle on a steep incline (stopped), the pedal goes to the floor. Had it back to ford dealers and was told this is a normal condition for explorers and mountaineers even though service managers and the mechanics have told me there was a problem when they initially checked the brakes. I have started the paperwork for the nys lemon law procedure. I have put the first complaint of this in the approx. Accident date box. This happens whenever you use the vehicle.

While driving my seat will randomly move back and forth as if i took the keys out. Thought something was wrong with my transmission but after having the garage put transmission fluid in it still feels like the transmission is messed up even though the garage says the transmission is fine.

While driving on freeway over a small crack, dashboard reported that rear driver side door became loose, had to pull over and re-close the door. I drive this route/lane everyday to work, it hasn' t happen for six months (that's when i bought my mountaineer). Don't know if this is a random event or due to some design problem. It can be scary, what if the door became wide open while driving! remember the door is closed before it became loose.

The rear hatch hinge on the glass broke when opening. It almost hit me in the head

Can't register my vehicle because i'm told that the catalytic converter is not legal for use in california, and it is not available after an extensive nation wide search of different catalytic converter manufacturers. How or can you help me to resolve this matter.

1st while driving the driver'sseat continues to move back n forth from way back to up close driving this vehicle while this seat moves is very dangerous everytime i lock the doors they unlock n only lock when off

While driving 12-14 mph and attempting to slow down to a stop, the vehicle lunged forward. The contact depressed the brake pedal more firmly to stop the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to a local mechanic who could not duplicate the failure. Once while driving in reverse, the vehicle lunged forward and pinned his son between his vehicle and another. The child sustained arm injuries. No police report was filed. The failure had been occurring since 2008. The vehicle was taken to the dealer but the contact was unsure of what the dealer did to remedy the problem. The failure continued and progressed to a more consistent problem. The vehicle had not been repaired. The vin was unavailable. The failure mileage was 50 and the current mileage was 50,000.

2007 mercury mountaineer customer states that the car suddenly surged and would not stop until she put the car in park**cc

When coming to slow stop, the vehicle will lunge forward before completely stopping.this behavior started several months ago and was very random in the beginning, but has become more and more frequent - almost every time i come to complete stop.vehicle also hesitates when gas is pressed and then surges forward.that behavior is very random at this stage, but car has done that over the past year.because of the "lunging" at stops, i have taken vehicle to repair shop and they indicate the vehicle's computer needs to be updated.this appears to be a common problem with this make/model/year.

When braking the vehicle accelerates, when slowing down to a stop sign or a red light and it happens when parking forward or reverse. I recently purchased the vehicle 8/2012.i am very dispointed because i really like this suv. I hope the dealer will fix this speed control problem free of charge because this situation could get dangerous.

2007 mercury mountaineer.consumer writes in regards to acceleration and console lighting issues and problems with back windshield wipers.

First off when i bought the vehicle the rear wiper does not work. Secondly when you put the vehicle in reverse it jolts before going into reverse. Finally it only let's you put so much of fuel into the gas tank at a time before stopping the fuel flow into the gas tank.

I was washing the suv in may 2007, and after washing the windshield off i went to the back of the car to wash off the back when i came around to the frontand the front windshield was cracked.therewasno evidence of a rock, or dent hole, the car was in the driveway. I was standing there andwashing it and it just somehow got cracked along the bottom of the windshield.

Discount tire company informed me that they had a technical bulletin - wheel advisory that said; "do service the mercury mountaineer 18" oe wheels (2005 and newer)they found in testing that the front bead hump has a ridge on the balcony ledge which can cause bead damage when mounting.tests were conducted where several types of tires were mounted and inflated on the oe wheels.the only tire they were able to seat at (50psi) was the original equipment michelin.after mounting and found that it had a damaged bead.during the test, they were not able to get a tire to seat without damaging the bead.the recommendation: do not service these wheels.central florida lincoln dealer (formerly central florida lincoln mercury) did not have any service bulletin on this problem.the only way i could get new tires for my mercury mountaineer was to buy new 17" wheels and have new tires mounted on them.
