"takata recall"it has been over six months since this recall and there is still no remedy? to date, 11 people have been killed by flying debris, the latest just last month (december, 2016). The remedy should be remove the defective airbag and replace it! how many more need to die before this is fixed?

The owner of this car is not getting any notices of recalls.i haven't owned this car since first quarter of 2014.please notify ford that they need to find out who owns this car now.note: i leased this car from bloomington, mn lincoln in oct. 2010.
I did receive a letter about a year ago requesting to take my car into ford concerning the driver air bag and other things that needed to be corrected as well. All the recall work was completed except for the air bags. We were told that they did not have the parts needed in stock that we would be notified. As of today plantation ford has reached out to us, nor has ford motor company.the only reason why this came to mind was that we had an hit and run yesterday, and the airs bags did not work.
Takata recall-i was notified by ford by letter dated july 2016 of the safety recall notice 16s26/nhtsa recall 16v-384.no action has been taken to date to repair or replace the air bag.with all the publicity in the media of the potential danger my family now refuses to ride in my vehicle. The ford dealer denied me a loaner car.
Factory recall
Takata recall - still waiting since july, 2016 for both our mercury milan and lincoln mkz to have new passenger frontal air bags replaced. Concerned about passenger safety since ford has disconnected them!!! how long must we wait for this to be corrected???

I recently recieve a recall notice then receive a mother one from the department of motor vehicle department i went to the ford market i brought it from in brooklyn ny n they said they don't do that
I have been aware of this recall for several years now, but my dealership still does not have the replacement part for my car. How dangerous is it for me to drive?your recall notice is urgent, yet my dealership seems to be taking its time fixing this repair.
Takata recall.i had previously been informed by ford that there was a problem with front passenger airbag and they would be replaced.recently i received another letter about the recall ( 16s26 ).in this letter dated dec. 2017, it states the issue with the airbags and tells me that as of today there is no solution.they go on to say that parts for "certain vehicles" will be available in the spring.next it tells me to "do not allow anyone to sit in the first row passenger seat".as i read this letter my car is #1 not useable.#2 it has a condition that makes it unsellable.#3 there is no provision or responsibility from ford to solve the issue.
Takata recall - legal notice received 10/28/2017 alerting to defect of takata airbag inflators in my vehicle
Ive had loss of power steering . When car comp reset i had power steering again. Power steering rack was just replaced feb 2017tail light replaced..flickered on n off like strobe light.airbag light on
I had just pulled out of my driveway, pushed on the gas, and the car started sputtering and jerking and came to a stop. The "wrench" light and "check engine" light were lit up on the dash.thinking perhaps just a fluke, i turned the car off for a few minutes, then turned it back on and let it idle for a minute. The wrench and engine light were no longer displayed, so i drove again.my max speed was maybe 15 or 20 mph. Not 30 seconds later, the car again did the same thing, with the wrench and engine lights coming on. Luckily i was at a stop sign and in a residential neighborhood. I turned the car off again, and drove back home this time. It was really scary. Luckily i wasn't driving on the interstate at a high rate of speed! definitely a safety issue here! a friend of mine with a computer diagnostic thing, came over and tested the car about an hour later. The error code was throttle actuator control system. My friend cleared out the code and i was able to drive it around the block without it happening again. I plan on taking it to the dealership tomorrow. According to these similar complaints, it appears to be the throttle body and not a cheap fix!
Was stopped by a policeman because he said my right taillight was going crazy, blinking, acting wrong for a braking process.i had no indication that my right tail light did not work and also that my right signal light did not work.there is no indication that the blinker was not working.prior to being stopped by the policeman, i had a driver shake their head at me when i was trying to change lanes to a right lane and she would not let me in to exit right.i did not know that the right signal was not working.this is an extremely unsafe condition because the car doe not register any indication that the light is not working for the brake and also for the signal.in addition, ford willnot replace these light assemblies without charging for them, which cost $500 each.it is not a simple bulb replacement, but instead an entire tail light assembly for $500.i had mine replaced but only because the dealer argued with them and i had to pay $100 deductible for my extended warranty.the dealer told me that if the left tail light goes out, this cost will not be covered by ford and i will have to pay the entire cost of $500.just the fact that this is a serious safety issue, i would think this would be a recall event.this tail light issue is also occurring on other ford cars, including the lincoln mkz.
Driving down a busy road and car went into limp mode, gas pedal not responding.almost got rearended because the car slowed down and i had my 8 month old granddaughter in the vehicle.took it to autozone and they ran a diagnostic said it was the electronic throttle sensor problem.read online where this is a recurrent thing going on but no recall yet.what is it going to take someone or alot of people dying for this to be recalled?i am on disability and it better be covered under extended warranty or warranty since ford knows this is an ongoing problem.
I was made aware of my tail light not functioning when i applied the brakes. When i tried to replace the bulb, i soon learned that the brake light is led and a sealed unit, making it virtually impossible to repair. The replacement unit is astronomically expensive, prices between $150-$350 used.if the unit had a replaceable bulb, then i wouldn't even be writing this. I understand that nothing will most likely be done about this, but it is worth noting that this is a safety concern that needs to be addressed.
I purchased a mercury milan with 13k miles on it.this vehicle was a certified pre-owned car with a full warranty.after driving it 10k miles, the right rear tail light does not work and the wholeright rear taillight assembly must be replaced.this part in not under warranty and will cost $219. To replace.this seems to be a recurring problem for ford based on owner comments and should be recalled and replaced by ford at no charge to its customers. This is definitely a safety hazard as the person behind you will notsee any lights indicating you are stopping or slowing down.
I was driving approx 25mph when my vehicle suddently started jerking back and forth, there was no acceleration, and the wrench light came on.i pulled over to the side of the road and turned off the car.when i turned it back on minutes later, it seemed to be back to normal.i proceeded down the road and made it about 3/4 mile when it did it again, this time in the middle of the intersection.i was able to coast through and pull into a parking lot.the dealer towed it in and said it is the engine throttle body.they state the part is on national backorder until november (3 months away!), with 25,000 cars currently waiting for this part.i don't see how there can be this huge of a problem but no recall yet.ford really needs to take responsibility for this malfunction.
I was driving on the interstate when the car suddenly stopped accelerating.a wrench appeared on the dashboard.i had to brake to a stop along the side of the interstate.i restarted the car and it seemed to work fine.this was wednesday.the same thing happened again on friday and then again on monday.at that point i took it to the ford service center.they had to replace the throttle body, costing me over $430.additionally, had any of the roads been busier or had no places to pull over, an accident easily could have occurred.
While we were driving the vehicle, the blower motor for the air conditioner shut itself off then came back on and it was blowing white smoke out of all of the vents. We had to pull over to the shoulder of the road and shut off the car in order to stop the white smoke from coming through the vents. The hvac blower control motor unit had started burning and failed to disengage the blower motor while it was burning. Additionally the vehicles 40a fuse and 30a iso relay did not work properly, if we did not shut off the car it would have continued to burn. This is the second instance of this happening to our mercury, the first time we were parked and when we turned the car on it starting blowing white smoke and smelled of burnt electronics and ozone from an electrical fire in the cab. When we had a ford service center look at the vehicle, we were told this is a common problem with this type of vehicle. And that the control unit is being used like a fuse to the blower motor.
I was driving at about 70 mph on i-70, when the car lost all engine power, like it died, i was fortunately getting ready to exit, and was in the right lane,so coasted the car off to the side. A wrench light came on, had it towed to dealer, who so far cannot duplicate it or get a code for it to show. He wants to keep it awhile to figure it out. I am advance complaining since i have seen this problem on here for another milan, and have found the same complainton this site 21 times for the sister car to this, the ford fusion. It has been the "throttle body" that was bad on the others. It is very dangerous, whatever it is.also this car has rolled the windows down by itself, when i have been in a store.it was raining and when i came out both my front windows were down, and interior was wet. They were up , since it was raining, when i locked it and left.
Driving at highway speed, i lost the ability to use the throttle. The engine ran, but did not respond to the pedal. I was forced to pull the car over, in traffic, and restart the car. Once the car was restarted, i was able to accelerate.
I am the owner of a 2011 mercury milan less than four years old and with almost 25,000 miles on it. Recently the left rear tail light / brake lightassembly burned out on me. I took my car to a local ford dealer and they told me that there is no way to repair the tail light / brake light assembly, and that the solution is to replace the tail light / brake light assembly. I had it replaced for over $400.00i am disappointed in the life span of this important piece of safety equipment. I am also disappointed that ford would design this important piece of safety equipment in such a way that it cannot be repaired. I would like the federal gov't to look into this issue.
The left rear brake light is not functioning.this light is not a normal incandescent bulb.it is an led that is not owner-serviceable.the only fix is that the entire taillight assembly needs to be replaced by the dealer at a cost of approximately $400. Any buyer's expectation is that when a light bulb burns out, we should be able to replace it ourselves for fifty cents.since this 50-cent item is now unexpectedly $400, the net effect is that all owners will continue to drive around with two of three, one of three or no brake lights at all.this should be an immediate safety recall.
The vehicle lost control of power steering. Now displays service power steering now. I noticed that there has been a recall on other 2011 mercury milans, but not mine. This seems very unsafe, and not an affordable fix. This issue needs to be repaired on multiply ford vehicles. I could cause loss of control.
Driver's side brake light stays illuminated all the time while vehicle is on and while driving, instead of only turning on when brake is pressed down. In november i noticed the driver's side brake light begin to flicker while parked. Since it is a malfunction with the led lights, the entire brake light housing would have to be replaced, a roughly $410 repair. For as often as i have seen other 2011 mercury milan owners complain about this, you would think this would have been recalled already. I have been told the brake light constantly staying on is distracting and very bright to other drivers behind me.
Vehicle lost all power and rpm dropped below 1000, engine would not respond to accelerator depression.the check engine light came on and i had the trouble codes analyzed and it was the throttle body part that was defective. I called the dealership where i purchased the car from and they informed me thatparticular part was on back order and that they have had numerous vehicles with that problem.
Break lights stayed on /illuminated when head lights were on thus having no brake lights at night.luckily , my husband was following behind me in his vehicle and noticed i had no brake lights.dealer replaced both tail light assemblies due to an electrical short.($1100)this isdangerous driving at night. Manufacture needs to recall their faulty tail lights.
Power steering continually goes out. Have already had work done for it and still goes out. Have seen recall for power steering but was told by ford that does not apply to my vehicle. Not sure why since vehicle is 2011 mercury milan and recall 15v340000 also lists this vehicle, but vin does not show in recall system?? need to be fixed.. Dangerous and hazardous to drive an infant when steering intermittently goes out

I was driving on a highway when all of a sudden my steering stopped and a message popped up power steering service now service advancetrac also my traction light came on. I had to pull the car over which was very difficult because i had very limited steering but thank god it was later at night and not much traffic. I had the car towed which i found out it was the power steering that had failed and the power steering is electrical. Upon research and reporting this to the nhtsa. I have seen this is a common issue and has already had a recall for this exact issue except the recall is not valid for my vehicle and many others who complain of this same issue. It is not safe to drive the vehicle like this and it is very hard to control where the car is going. They need to expand this recall it is unsafe to drive and is a very costly repair this repair costs anywhere from $2000- $2,300 and is going to create so much hardship for my family to get this repair done. I am hoping you will look into this and open another investigation and expand the recall just as you did with the airbag recallthat my car was also not a part of last year yet it is a part of the recall this year for the exact same issue. I will never get another ford ever again i have only three ford in my lifetime and have had nothing but constant issues with all of them. Ford does not like accepting their mistakes and they need to realize this is an issue that exist with all of these models not just some of them.
I started have message power steering assist failure along with advancetrak service.power steering was lost during freeway riding.pulled over, shut vehicle off and turned back on.power steering came back.after a week of this error messages would not go away.took into ford service and was told that gear assembly and both right side control arms needed to be replaced.expensive repair of 2213.08.i noticed on-line a recall for this same problem so i called service and they stated that my car was not part of recall.why not.this is a safety problem that has happened to way too many people already.
The contact owns a 2011 mercury milan. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the vehicle went into limp mode without any warnings. The contact mentioned that he had to turn off and restart the vehicle in order to temporarily remedy the failure. The vehicle was taken to the dealer. The technician was unable to diagnose the failure. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 45,000 and the current mileage was 51,000.

Vehicle lost most engine power.could only be driven at low speed.turned ignition off and then re-started.vehicle then seemed ok until it did it again......and again and again. Took vehicle to dealership where they replaced some valve and gave the car back to us.car did not make it 2 miles before it exhibited the initial problem.in other words "they fixed nothing for the price of around $500.00."the vehicle is now going back to the de.... Stealership.
The contact owns a 2011 mercury milan. The contact stated that while driving approximately 55 mph, the service warning light illuminated as the vehicle suddenly stalled. The contact stopped the vehicle and turned the engine off. After restarting the engine the vehicle operated normally. The vehicle was diagnosed by an independent mechanic but the defect could not be duplicated. No repairs were performed on the vehicle. The manufacturer was not notified. The failure mileage was 41,000.
On two occasions on the same day (7/17/13), once at low speed (less than 15 mph) after turning into a parking lot and later the same day at 65 mph on the highway, my 2011 mercury milan went into "limp" mode with the wrench light illuminated on the instrument panel.the car lost adequate power other than to essentially coast to rest.once at rest, it would not move and the engine began to shake violently while idling.upon restarting the car, the wrench light went off only to come back on again after attempting to move the car.at this point, i had it towed to the nearest ford dealer's service dept. But they were unable to replicate the issue or definitively diagnose the problem but "suspected" it might be due to throttle body issues (which as i understand is currently under investigation as noted below):investigation subject : electronic throttle body malfunctiondate investigation opened: feb 21, 2013date investigation closed: opennhtsa action number: pe13003component(s): engineas the local ford service department was unable to definitively diagnose or replicate the issue during in-shop testing or while road test driving it themselves for 9 miles, they returned the car to me.while i was driving home from the dealership, the issue occurred again (less than 9 miles away).....this time at full highway speed (approx 65 mph).once again, the car went into "limp mode" with the wrench light illuminated on the instrument panel.upon re-starting the car, i was able to drive the rest of the way home without any additional issues.while it has not happened again yet (i've only driven to work the following day since all this occurred), this issue is most certainly an unpredictable, serious danger to myself as well as other motorists.
The vehicle stalled while driving at 55 mph.no power to accelerate and had to pull over on hwy. Happened a second time while accelerating at a green light.
The vehicle was running normally but suddenly faltered and entered the "limp home mode" where the engine speed is limited to 900 rpm.i turned off the busy street on to a side road and turned off the engine.upon restart, the engine ran more or less normally, albeit with the check engine light illuminated, for a few minutes and then entered "limp home mode" again.this happened twice more on a 4 mile drive.
Driving near 55 mph on local highway and applying pressure to gas pedal to accelerate.felt and heard a 'clunk'.vehicle immediately lost ability to accelerate with pressure applied to gas pedal.exited to shoulder.noticed yellow service (wrench) indicator light was on.put the car into park and turned off ignition.re-started vehicle; service indicator light did not come back on.put the car into drive and re-entered traffic flow.did not have an incident in another 30 miles of driving.took the vehicle to dealer for diagnosis.dealer diagnosed problem as requiring new throttle body.very dangerous situation.
While driving the vehicle a warning came on stating power assist failure. Car had manual steering only. The first time it happened it went away when the car was restarted. No such luck this time, warning stays on and no power steering. Luckily i was on straight roads both times.i see there was a recall on this but the dealership says there is none??
As i started the car the drove a short distance then it started to buck then the wrench sign came on the dashboard. I checked the manual and it said throttle/transmission. I switched off the car and started again then a few seconds it happened again. After shutting down for five times i managed to get home safely. No indication whatsoever prior to this happening.
This happened once several weeks ago with my wife operating the car and newborn in the back. I wasn't in the car so i did not witness the problem. Over the past two days i have experienced the problem first hand several times. Car stops accelerating during normal operation. The check engine light comes on, the accelerator stops working and car begins to idle erratically. The engine does not shut off. Once you coast in heavy traffic to the side of the road, you may turn the car off then restart and drive without issue for an indeterminate amount of time (once it was several weeks, once it was ten minutes). The check engine light will be off and no code will be logged into the computer. I took the car to a mechanic ten minute after an incident and the computer picked up nothing wrong with the car. With all these complaints and anecdotal evidence, by this time ford and the nhtsa must be aware of the problem. Where is the recall?
I was sitting at a red stop light, and then the traffic light turned green. I lightly pressed the gas but the car would not go, and all a sudden i looked down and the check engine light is on. I pulled over to the side of the road (while turning hazard lights on), placed car in park, and turned the car off. I turned the car back on (started just fine) and attempted to go again to get to a safer destination (was right in the middle of the intersection). The check engine light remained on and the car would not go any faster than roughly 5 miles per hour. Then the wrench light came on (which apparently means a transmission problem). I pulled the car over again and called for help. Eventually i got the car into a parking lot (meanwhile traveling at about 5 miles per hour and blocking 5 o' clock rush hour traffic). Car had to be towed to nearby shop. They told me the throttle body had quit working (stuck closed) and the car was not getting enough air into the gas for the car to run properly. 400.00$ later, it was fixed. I have had the car for a little over a year and put about 10,000 miles on it since purchase. Ridiculous.
Two or three times in the last day or two the enginehas lost power/died & car would have to be steered to side of road & put in park to be restarted! on at least one of these occasions the car was in traffic at highway speed & could have really been a problem, wife was driving & had grand daughter & great grand daughter in the car with her, from what i can read & find out ford motor co knows of the problem, but has yet not addressed it, it appears to be a problem with a circuit board on the throttle body. This could potentially be a real bad situation! i think some ones attention needs to be directed to this problem!why has this not been a recall before some one really gets hurt?
Driving on a straight away the vehicle suddenly makes a noise as if it were shifting very hard although it was not.immediately lost acceleration and dashboard light illuminates.pulled vehicle to the side of the road and rpm needle bounced as car lunged but would not accelerate.called for roadside assistance and my dealer's service department who knew based on my description a possible cause.vehicle towed to dealer, diagnostics proved throttle body needed to be replaced. Repair made.research proved that this is a known problem but no recall has been made.it was a very foggy morning and several multi car accidents had been reported.had i been on busier stretch of road at the time of the break down i could have easily been killed with slowing down suddenly and without any evident cause.a recall should be issued and refunds made to those who have already experienced this failure.
2011 mercury milan.consumer writes in regards to partial engine failure in vehicle and seeks reimbursement.the consumer stated at approximately 48,415, the engine started going tin a very rough low rpm mode. The consumer stated the wrench light and engine light illuminated and the vehicle ran fine under 40 mph. The dealer replaced the throttle body and cabin air filter.
Just driving and engine cuts off due to bad throttle body.
Vehicle traveling at 55mph and wrench light came on.vehicle engine did not stall but dropped rpms and would not respond to pressing the accelerator.vehicle slowed to a crawl onto the shoulder of the highway.after putting car in park and shutting off engine and then starting up again the wrench light went off and the car ran fine.this has happened several times in the past few days even on the interstate with heavy traffic behind me...i have almost been rearended several times while i was trying to get off the road out of traffic!!!
Our car suffered loss of power and erratic throttle (surges of forward movement even when foot not on the throttle) several times in january 2017. Car unsafe to drive, would leave stranded in the middle of high-speed traffic on highway. Diagnosed with a bad electronic throttle body by russel and smith ford dealer in houston, replaced 1/19/17 under "ford customer satisfaction program 13n03." on 8/28/17 same symptoms occurred, intermittent power acceleration and loss of acceleration while at speed. Taken to brandon ford (florida) that day, again diagnosed with a bad electronic throttle body, which was replaced. Picked car up 8/31, and within 1 hour we lost power while at speed. While at a red light, car surges forward even with brake pedal applied and no foot on the gas. Have again been told it must be a bad throttle body.
I was driving at about 70 mph on i-70, when the car lost all engine power, like it died, i was fortunately getting ready to exit, and was in the right lane,so coasted the car off to the side. I am advance complaining since i have seen this problem on here for another milan, and have found the same complainton this site 21 times for the sister car to this, the ford fusion. August 2012 - driving approximately 35 mph and the vehicle suddenly jerked and the safe mode light and engine light turned on and i could no longer accelerate.put car in neutral, then stopped, put it in park.turned engine off, then waited a couple of minutes and tried again.it started, but after accelerating past 10 mph, it did the same thing.after 3 attempts, the vehicle went back to normal driving condition.the engine light went out on its own.july 2013 - driving on the highway with cruise control set to 64 mph, same thing happened but was quite scary because we were on the highway which was busy and we had to get over to the shoulder and then once we were attempting to accelerate, we had to try to merge with busy traffic.the engine light is on so we were able to have the issue diagnosed and it is a faulty throttle body that needs replaced.
Wrench and engine light came on. Vehicle would not go beyond 5 mph. Waited and turned the car back on.,engine light stayed lit and was able to get home. I took the vehicle to autozone and received a diagnostic code p2111: throttle actuator control system, tachometer open or shorted. Called ford and they are aware but stated that they will not repair with a recall being issued.
Was stopped at a traffic light. After the light turned green i applied the gas pedal and the car slowly preceded i was unsure i would make it through the intersection i pulled to the side.i was able to restart car and it accelerated normally.luckily no one rearended me.
Service power steering light came on, 1 mile later, service advanced track light came on, shut car off and re-started and power steering did not work
The driver's side brake light began flickering after the car was parked. I was also informed after this was noticed that it flickers (gets brighter) while driving. The passenger brake light also stayed brightly illuminated last year, and i was told it would be over $500 to replace the light assembly. Fortunately, my vehicle sustained an accident and the passenger light was damaged further and replaced. Now a defect is occurring on the driver's side.
Left rear brake/tail lamp stays in brake lamp mode continuously when headlamps are on. Center high mount and right rear lamp function properly. Safety issue.
I bought my milan at a used ford dealer when the car was 2 years old.when i was driving off of the lot my husband was following me and noticed that the brake light on the passenger side was out.one year later the brake light on the other (driver) side is out.the car is no longer under factory warranty and the dealer said it would cost total of 417.00.this obviously is a safety issue that should be addressed.
The led tail lamp assembly began flickering and after a short period of time it now does not light at all.i have noted other milan vehicles in my area having similar problems.i attempted to obtain parts to repair my vehicle online and also through my ford dealer and was told that there is a shortage of parts because this defect is well known.this could certainly cause an accident at any time!i cannot park my vehicle as i need to get back and forth to work.if i receive a fix-it ticket for this i would like to bill it to ford.if a recall can be forced to issue then i hope that you initiate one.
Ive had loss of power steering . When car comp reset i had power steering again. Power steering rack was just replaced feb 2017tail light replaced..flickered on n off like strobe light.airbag light on
Passenger side tail light went out.these are led's and not suppose to burn out.in looking for this problem with milan's on the internet i found a number of incidents referring to the same thing.cost of repair is $400 plus.called ford customer service and they know nothing about this problem.
Starting in september of 2013 on our mercury milan the right tail light was blinking like a strobe light when the headlights where on. ( tail light on, brake light flashing) this lasted for a few weeks then seemed to disappear, starting a few weeks ago the blinking returned on the right side followed by the left side.currently the right side is non useable (tail light and brake light are both on all the time) left side stopped working completely this last problem has progressed quickly it all stopped working in just a few days.i went to the dealership to get it fixed they told me it was going to be about 1000.00 to fix the two tail lights.
The led assembly responsible for illumination of the brake lights has failed prematurely presenting a potential safety concern. Ford charges an exorbitant fee ($376) for the hardware alone, not including the price for installation. This cost is unreasonable to replace faulty components which provide safety functionality. This has been referred to by the mechanics at the dealership as a "common" problem, so should it not be worthy of a safety recall?
Left brake light stays on when lights are on and brake is not depressed.
Right rear brake light failed. Led brake light must be replaced as an assembly at a cost of over $300.
Rear passenger led brake lights failed, will not illuminate after shaky 'flashing' noticed for a few months.replaced with salvage led assy for $150.withinweeks, the driver's side brake light is noticed to stay on any time the running or headlights are on.both are unsafe conditions and both require full assy replacement.
My brake light/ running lights on my rear passenger side doesn't work. They are led so i believe after less then 5 years they shouldn't blow.
Right rear tail and brake light stopped working, about 2 weeks later they flickered and came back on.they went out again 2 days later and have been out for about 2 months.called dealership and they said it wasn't covered under warranty and would have to replace the whole tail/brake light unit at a cost of about $500. I contacted ford customer service three times and they said it was a light problem and not under warranty by them.it treated as a light bulb problem, but a $500 light bulb!!!!ford needs to fix this problem.
Right rear tail light not working properly. Running light (right bottom) is working but all other leds have failed. This is a replace all part costing over $300. This has happened on my other milan - luckily before the warranty ran out. Seems to be an issue with this model and can be a safety hazard.
The tail lights doesn't come on when the night lights come on. The brake lights are faulty as well. The brake lights flicker. They just went out.
Right rear brake light doesn't work at all now. Had been working off and on for several monthsbut every time i had it looked at, it worked.now completely inop. Took car to harold zigler ford in elkhart for recall 19s01 and they looked at brake light and said i needed the complete housing replaced for over $400????looked up recall 14m03 for this very problem.this is a safety hazard and i need it fixed under this recall asap. Why didn't dealership offer this fix?thank you i. Advance for your help
Led tail lights failed for the second time. The cost of the replacement tail lights is astronomical at 376.00 each. There was no collision, no water intrusion. They just failed.
Right rear tail light started flickering bright to dim. After a couple of days it went out completely. Was replaced under extended warranty - but cost wouldhave been over $350 dollars which makes it cost prohibitive for some i am sure (why should a "bulb" going out cost so much to fix). Very poor design and even worse manufacturing of part.
The contact owns a 2011 mercury milan. The contact stated that the passenger brake light remained illuminated when the brake pedal was not depressed and left brake light failed intermittently. The contact repaired the brake light mounting unit. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure and current mileage was 48,000. ..updated 07-17-13
The contact owns a 2011 mercury milan. While driving approximately 20 mph, the contact was alerted by another motorist that the rear driver side brake light failed to illuminate. The independent mechanic diagnosed that the rear driver side tail light assembly needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired and the manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 37,000.
The contact owns a 2011 mercury milan.the contact stated that the tail lights on the vehicle were inoperable.the dealer stated that it would cost $400 to repair each tail light.the vehicle was not repaired.the approximate failure mileage was 65,000.
Fuel tank and purge valve recall. Vehicle in motion. Leaving a stop sign from a country highway and vehicle stalled when accelerating. Difficult to restart.
I was on the interstate going 70 miles an hour and the engine just quit this was the second time it had happened the first time i had my grandaughter and 2 great grandchildren in the car with me and was going 60 miles an hour and the engine just stopped could not give it gas pulled over to the side of the road and shut the car off and started it back up and made it home. The second time i was on the interstate going 70 miles and hour again had to pull over to the side stop vehicle and restart, thank god i was not in the traffic at columbia missouri in the traffic while taking my grandaughter to the doctor. The third time it happened i was taking my daughter to columbia to the doctor and again it quit while going 70 miles an hour had to pull off the busy highway and stop the car. It happened a 4th time on my husband while taking my daughter to the hospital on his way to columbia this is within 5 weeks so it is happening about one time a week both our daughter and grandaughter will be making regular trips to the hospital and i also travel a lot with the grand children who are 4 years old and 6 months old they are in this vehicle daily, and it scares me that i may not be able to get out of the way when going at these speeds and what if i'm passing another car and it just dies and i can't get out of the way? ford motors is aware of this problem why not fix it, before someone gets killed, we take drunk driver off the road, but this is just as dangerous. For safety do i need to just park it in garage, our golf cart is more dependable, should i just park this vehicle which i just purchased i can't afford another one we are both retired we have 2 ford vehicles at this time and drove our last ford truck for over 10 years.
Throttle body assembly failure on the 211 mercury milan premier 3.0 v6 engine.car entered "limp" mode.vehicle may be restarted after coming to a complete stop, placing the transmission in the park position, turning off the engine and restarting.ford serviced the throttle body with a chemical cleaner in early may.the vehicle performed satisfactory for the month of may.beginning in june, the vehicle began to enter "limp" mode multiple times on a daily basis.i began tracking the occurrences in mid-june and the throttle body has failed on 31 different occasions.failure may occur at any time or at any speed.incidents have occurred from a standing start or at interstate speeds of 70 mph.there is no option other than to allow the vehicle to coast to a stop and follow the procedures mentioned above.this is a very dangerous situation when traveling at any speed, especially interstate speeds.if a location to pull over is not available, you are a hazard to any following traffic.i have contacted ford for financial assistance and they declined to pay for the repairs.
I have experienced this problem twice.the car loses power, traveling at 65mph on highway and car lost all power. The wrench light came on.pulled over, turned car off and restarted.light went off and car was drivable.the second time occurred while car was stopped and when i proceeded to accelerate, the car had no power.i took it to the ford dealer and they said the throttle body needed to be replaced as it had a short.this was not included in my powertrain warranty.i have read info on this and it appears that it is becoming more common. It is too dangerous to be losing power while driving on a freeway and lose all power.this car only had 36,500 miles so no reason unless it is a defective part.
I made a left turn from a complete sign.in the middle of the intersection, the car decelerated and the wrench symbol on the dash came on.as i pulled over, the car started shaking and cut off.i had my children get out of the car because i was unsure of what was going on.i turned the car off, took the key from the ignition.i waited about 5 minutes and then restarted the car.i started and everything was ok. On 9/25/13, this happened while i was driving on a straight road.9/28/13 - it happened while driving 65 mph on the interstate.9/30/13 - after filling the car with gas, on a major road.10/1/13 - just driving.10/8 - making a left turn .there is not a warning before it happens.
On 10/3/13 while driving home in heavy traffic on the interstate my 2011 milan with 44,000 miles on it sputtered and died at freeway speed. Still had electrical power and the wrench warning light on the dash was lit up. I was able to coast to the shoulder and stop the vehicle. Once restarted the car went three days before again dying on the interstate in heavy traffic, after doing some research i discovered this was a common problem with ford throttle bodies on several makes and models. 10/12/13 i purchased a new throttle body from my local ford dealer and installed it the same day. I test drove the vehicle and it appears that the new throttle body fixed the issue and also another symptom i had been noticing, it was a very slight hesitation in the transmission in all gears.
The owner of this car is not getting any notices of recalls.i haven't owned this car since first quarter of 2014.please notify ford that they need to find out who owns this car now.note: i leased this car from bloomington, mn lincoln in oct. 2010.
Returning to baltimore from working in harrisburg pa and driving on interstate 83 at a rate of 65 miles per hour. I was driving in the left lane and the shoulder was to the far right on this particular stretch of road. The mercury milan that i had purchased no more than 2 to 3 months prior simply loss all power. To further explain the loss of power ( applying pressure to the gas pedal did nothing to make the car go forward) this had me in a very dangerous place as in order to get the car safely onto the shoulder i needed to drift uphill and across several lanes of fast moving traffic. Fortunately i was able to get the car off the road but found later that the issue that caused this was a throttle body piece that ford knew had problems. I have three children in the car with me and my fiance at the time and all of our lives were endangered by a part that a billion dollar company put intoits mid- level working class consumer vehicle. I have not felt so disrespected and that my life and that of my family meant so little to someone as i did when i found that this is a known issue. This cannot be simply a buy the piece and replace it type of deal as i no longer trust the integrity of the vehicle as a whole . And furthermore how dare ford think that i should pay for their poor craftsmanship in using a faulty part. This part needs to be recalled and ford needs to be fined big time for endangering the lives of anyone who drives or rides in vehicles with this limp home type of construction.
Driving at highway speed, i lost the ability to use the throttle. The engine ran, but did not respond to the pedal. I was forced to pull the car over, in traffic, and restart the car. Once the car was restarted, i was able to accelerate.
I was driving on a highspeed road when suddenly there was nothing happening when i pressed the gas. A small wrench came on the dash. The owner's manual said throttle/transmission problem. Had we been in the passing lane we probably would have been rear-ended and killed! as it was, i was able to coast over to the shoulder of the road and eventually pull into a parking lot. I turned off the car, waited a few minutes and turned it back on. I was able to drive about 5 miles before the same thing happened again. I left the car in a parking lot. I have only owned the car for 29 days! i feel this is a definite safety hazard and should be looked into.
I was driving about 55 mph when my cars speed started reducing. A wrench light appeared and my car would not move. The gas pedal would not engage speed and the rpm's were at a stand still. This has happened 3 times within 2 1/2 weeks.

I was driving around 70mph in rush hour traffic when all of a sudden my car started to shake a little and the wrench light came on. It went into limp mode and i was unable to accelerate at all. My car started dropping in speed dramatically. I pushed my gas pedal down all the way and there was nothing. The car was still running though. I couldn't get over because it was rush hour traffic. I ended up having to park my car in the fast lane as traffic flew past me. Very scary. The car rumbled while in park so i shut it off and restarted the vehicle. It came back on with no issue and the wrench light was gone. I looked it up when i got home and it looked like a bunch of people have had issues like this and it was their throttle body. I took my car into ford and they said it was the throttle body and it needed replaced. Of course this wasn't covered under my cpo power train warranty. I got the whole thing done for $438. This part needs to be recalled asap.
Traveling down the highway at 70mph car shuddered and lost acceleration and wrench light came on,got off on the shoulder, car was shuddering, turned it off waited a few minutes, turned the car back on and drove home with no problems. I thought it was a fluke, until today when traveling to work the car did the same thing, and again on the way home.it goes to the dealer tomorrow..i don't need to tell you how dangerous this could be. I hope i make it to the dealer without an issue.
After driving about 28 miles the car lost power while going downhill at 75 mph on the freeway. The "tool wrench" light came on and the car continued to lose speed.pulled into the emergency lane and put the vehicle in park.put it back in drive and the rpm jumped from 900-1100 rpm and car surged at about 3-5 mph; it would not go faster than 10 mph.stopped and put it back into park and turned off the ignition and let the car sit for about 1 minute. Restarted the car and it started very roughly, it did smooth out and idled at 1000 rpm. The "tool wrench" light was no longer on and the car drove normally the rest of the way home which was about 11 miles. The car has almost 59k miles on it.
Car lost power while driving.yellow wrench light came on and car continued to idle roughly.shutting car of and restarting would reset everything, but if continue to drive the same thing happened.no speed or rpm increase happened when stepping on the gas.had to tow car to ford dealer as i couldn't drive it.mechanic stated throttle body had gone bad and had to be replaced.they never told me that ford was having an issue with this part.cost me $460 to have this replaced.low mileage and newer car this should not have happened.could have had a terrible accident if i had been driving down the free way at rush hour as i live in a metropolitan area.
Transmission issues: problem mainly occurs when shifting from 2nd to 3rd gear while in "drive" or automatic mode.under slow to moderate acceleration, the engine rpms go up to approximately 3,500 proceeding to shift abruptly into 3rd gear. This issue can be replicated whether the vehicle is at normal operating temp or below. This has caused wheel spin with wet and snow covered roads resulting loss of control/ skidding while turning under the above circumstances. The hard shifting was noticed the day i bought the vehicle and more so during the last snow fall when it became a concern!
Ridiculous.

2011 mercury milan-on july 24, 2013 , traveling at 40 mph and thendropped to about 10 mph. (wrench) check engine light came on. Very scary , this happened duringrush hour traffic and had to pull over. Turned car off and restarted with no problem. Happened again on july 31, 2013.throttle body replaced at dealership. $707.97on august 1/2013. Out of warranty so now i am out of pocket. Only 39,000 miles on vehicle.
On several occasions i will be driving my car and it begins to shake and cut off. The battery light comes on and a wrench will appear next to the parking light. I was stopped at a stop light, once the light changed i took my feet off the break and pushed on the gas. My car stalled then shook as i drove forward through the intersection my car cut off again. I had to urgently put on my flashers. I have a child and that us very dangerous.i tried starting my car again and it made the sound as if it were going to start but it didn't.the battery light came on again.i tried another time and it worked.i began driving for no more than 3 minutes and my car shut off again.i turned into a parking lot and tried to start my car. We sat there for 5 minutes.the i drove to walmart which is usually only a few minutes away.my car shut off at 4 lights on the way to walmart, andpulling into the walmart parking lot, 4 lights on the way home. This was all in one day.i am so afraid to get on the highway because my car could go out while i'm driving and someone may run into the back of my car.
2011 mercury milan.traveling on i-494 in minneapolis during rush hour traffic going 60mph.vehicle jolted hard, wrench light came on and all accerlation was lost.thankfully i was in the outside lane and was able to coast off the road.once parked the car was idling violently.turned off car, waited a minute and started back up.started fine and continued on my way.made it 40 miles before it happened again. This time the check engine light came on and stayed on.turned off and back on and was able to get home.once i got home, did a quick google search and found numerous postings and complaints about the throttle body being defective and requring replacement at cost to the owner.brought the car to the dealership where i bought it.encountered the same issue twice during the 25 mile drive to the dealership.told dealership that i am certain it is the throttle body, they checked and found error code p2111 and replaced the throttle and gasket.very frustrating to see this is a somewhat common issue in milans and fusions.car only has 50k miles on it.
Driving car when it lost all power.when stepping on the gas nothing happened, no speed or rpm increase.was able to pull over to side of road.yellow wrench light came on.car when drivable would jerk like not getting enough gas.i had to pay $430 to have this replaced.this seems to be a known defect for this car and year.i had the extended warranty on my car but was told by the mechanic that this part was specifically excluded.evidently they knew this part had a problem so they didn't cover it.could have had a very bad accident if this had happened in rush hour traffic.
The contact owns a 2011 mercury milan.the contact stated that while driving approximately 40 mph, the vehicle hesitated when the accelerator pedal was applied. Additionally, the vehicle stalled without warning.the vehicle was able to be restarted after several attempts and was taken to an authorized dealer, who was unable to diagnose the vehicle because the codes were lost when the vehicle was restarted.the manufacturer was notified of the defect.the approximate failure mileage was 39,000.
I had five separate incidents where my 2011 mercury milan lost all power and acceleration before i was able to take it to a dealership. Twice right when i started my vehicle the car had no power to move from park and the wrench light was on. When i shut it off and turned it back on it struggled to start at first but then started and drove normally. The other three times i was driving down the street (luckily not a highway) at around 40 mph and all of a sudden the car shook, the wrench light came on, and i lost all acceleration and power. I quickly turned my hazards on and coasted to the side of the road where i shut off the car. Again when i started the vehicle it struggled a bit but then started normally and the wrench light went offand drove like nothing had happened. I only got about 2 miles down the road when it lost power again...and then again. When i took it to the dealership they said it was a throttle body issue and that the fusions/milans have been having this problem. I was shocked this wasn't covered under my 5 yr 60,000 mile warranty. What was even more troubling is the fact there has not been a recall on this part given the huge problem with it. Come on ford, really? is it going to take someone getting hurt or worse killed before you issue the recall? all you have to do is search this issue and you will find dozens of reports and forums with people having the same problem. Luckily the dealership i was able to get my vehicle to (i took it to the closest one to my home because i was afraid of losing power while on the highway and possibly getting in a wreck) was able to get the part in about 7 days even with it being back ordered. In total i ended up dropping about $400 to replace it. I'd be very disappointed in ford if a recall wasn't issued and i didn't get this money back.
2011 mercury milan.consumer writes in regards to vehicle issues.the consumer stated while driving on the highway, the vehicle jolted hard and lost power. The wrench and engine light illuminated. The consumer stopped the vehicle in the middle of traffic and put it in park, then re-started it.when she re-started the vehicle, she drove a few feet and the rpm's went to 5,500 and the vehicle jerked formiles, until she was able to pull over to a safe place. The consumer stated she experienced the failure three times.
My car has shut off on me several times. The car will shake and then turn off. I can not start my car at will due to the defects.i have taken my car to get it looked at and no one can say what is wrong because it has to actively shut off and the wrench light needs to be visible when the run the test.so i took it to a dealer where i was told the throttle body needs to be replaced and it sounds like a power train issue.i wouldn't have bought this car if i knew it had these problems.
The vehicle stalled while driving at 55 mph.no power to accelerate and had to pull over on hwy. Happened a second time while accelerating at a green light.
Brought the car for state safety inspection. Inspection failed because brake lights would not increase brightness when brakes applied and headlamps on. Lights appear ok when headlamps not on. Car is unsafe to drive when headlights are required. Ford says not covered under warranty or under extended warranty. Could cost nearly $1000.00 to repair. Online forums seem to indicate it is a common problem. Afraid to drive the car for fear it will happen again and i won't know until someone runs into me.
Soft brake pedal.when braking, pedal descends approximately 75% before pedal pressure becomes firm.this occurs whether the vehicle is in motion or not.the master cylinder was replaced but did not solve the soft brake pedal issue.the vehicle cannot be safely driven in it's present condition.ford diagnosis was to replace the abs control module and abs pump.the total cost for this repair is $3,000.00.i understand there are multiple complaints involving ford and abs system repairs.
Both brake lights when out, and went in for replacement bulbs after waiting in the dealership for 7 hours i was told that the led brake lights were defective and it would be well over 1,000 to fix. I purchased an extended warranty that they say covers nothing!!!! (currently have a broken d riverside door handle). I purchased the car used last may, within 3 weeks i had transmission issues which were covered by the warranty, then the door handle, now brake lights. I feel these lights should be part of a recall becuz who has over 1,000 dollars to replace led brake lights??? i'm very upset and disappointed....also broke and can't afford this repair......please help!!!!!!!
During a wintery morning i had to apply the brakes and the abs light came on for a few seconds and then went off. Braking was only normal not urgent or anything like that. Afterwards the break pedal travel has increased significantly and have become spongy. Braking distance has increased dramatically. Safety is a big issue here because after doing a little research i've learned that this is actually becoming a typical issue for anyone who owns this car or a ford fusion. My local repair shop told me that it is probably the hydraulic control module which is part of the abs system and sure enough i believe they are correct. I called the dealer i purchased the car from and parts and labor come to about $1,700.00!!! this part should not fail and if it does a recall needs to be issued because i know i'm not the only one with this complaint.
The contact owns a 2011 mercury milan. The contact stated that while his great nephew was driving at an unknown speed, the brakes failed. The contact stated that the brake warning light was illuminated. The driver pumped on the brake pedal until the vehicle stopped. The contact took the vehicle to the local dealer, where it was diagnosed with needing the brake master cylinder, hydraulic module, and brake filler cap to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer had been informed of the failure. The failure mileage was 126,077.
The electric power steering assist is failing.the car is becoming more difficult to steer and makes an intermittent grinding noise when turning the wheels.the problem is most noticeable at low speeds when making turns.
Went to back out of the driveway for work, and got an alarm and the power steering assist fault indication.turned the wheel and had no assist. Returned to the driveway, shut the car off, and contacted ford dealer.was informed that while there was a recall in effect (15s18) my car was not covered, so i would have to pay full price. Not sure how i can have the exact problem, including the dtc c200d which indicates replacement is required. And not be covered.was able to drive to the dealer (about 2 miles) for the repair.i am hoping you insist that ford expand this recall since it is occurring outside the current vin listings.i'm just glad it didn't happen at speed on the highway at rush hour.
The contact owns a 2011 mercury milan. While operating the vehicle, the power steering malfunctioned and the steering wheel became very difficult to turn in either direction. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. Sam leman ford (1508 morrissey dr, bloomington, il) and the manufacturer were notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 166,000.
My 2011 mercury milan has a power steering assist fault code coming up.the power steering has gone out completely when driving. It happened several times over the past 6 months.it would reset itself after the car was turned off and then turned back on.it now has failed completely on april 14, 2017 and the code reads "power steering assist fault" and "advance service track".i have taken it to a ford dealership and they are saying that my vin number is not under the recall even though my vehicle has the same exact problem and is the same year, make and model.how can my vehicle not be on the recall with the same exact problem?i contact ford motor company and they are refusing to repair my vehicle.this is a very expensive part to replace.the part costs $1,200 alone plus the labor charges.i do not have the money to fix the vehicle.how can ford not be held responsible for this issue?my family and i are in danger now and i need a vehicle to get back and forth to work and i do not have a second vehicle.the dealership also wants a diagnostic fee of $125 to see the vehicle.i need someone's assistance to get the vehicle properly repaired and for ford to pay for it.how can they put me and my family at risk of crashing when there is a recall on the the same year, make and model and the exact problem.
The contact owns a 2011 mercury milan. While driving approximately 25 mph, the service advancetrac and service power steering now warning indicators illuminated. The vehicle became inoperable. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the pscm malfunctioned and the steering gear needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The contact referenced nhtsa campaign number: 15v340000 (steering). The vin was not available. The failure mileage was approximately 40,000.
The contact owns a 2011 mercury milan. While driving approximately 70 mph, the vehicle lost power steering ability and 'power steering assist failure' appeared on the instrument panel. The contact pulled the vehicle over to the side of the road and turned off the vehicle for a few minutes. The contact restarted the vehicle and drove home. The contact also stated that the failure occurred two other times. The vehicle was taken to germain lincoln (13303 tamiami trail, n naples, 34110) where it was diagnosed that the power steering control module needed replacement. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 57,700.
Due to the recall of the steering gear we had it repaired oct 10 2018. The vehicle had 94,430 miles and qualified under the recall. The car has been driven 15,311 miles and the same part needs to be replaced. When i asked if the part has a warranty i was told 1 yr or 12,000 miles,so the repair would be 1800.00. I asked if the same repair was done what kind of warranty would there be. 2 yrs or 50,000 miles. My concern is why the recall part is only warranted for 12,000 and the new repair warranty is 50,000. Did ford install an inferior part on my recall? the very dangerous recall part that was put on my car lasted barely over 15,000 mile. I find this very alarming to think that like i there are thousands of people driving an unsafe car putting themselves and other on the roads at risk of injury or death! you cannot steer the car when the part faults.
Electronic steering rack and pinion caused car to lose steering. Some 2011 models have previously had this concern. First the abs brake started pulsating than check brake light came on and than car lost the power steering. Dealership diagnostics show the electronic steering rack and pinion has stopped working.
The contact owns a 2011 mercury milan. The contact stated that the vehicle was turned off and when the key was turned over, there was a warning indicator for the power steering. The vehicle was towed to a dealer but was not diagnosed or repaired. The vehicle was at the dealers for longer than three weeks as the contact was waiting for a permanent repair remedy. The vehicle was not included in nhtsa campaign number: 15v340000 (steering). The vin was not available. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 49,905. Updated 03/18/16*ljthe consumer stated the vehicle was repaired. Updated 06/29/16.
As i was driving a low traction warning light came on and then the steering became impossible while pulling into my driveway and went through our grass leaving ruts in it. Apparently once the power steering went out and a warning sign came on in vehicle it now will not go off and its impossible to turn. There is a recall on certain vin cars of our make, year and model however not specifically ours. It is obvious it is due to the same faulty power steering computer thing.
Ive had loss of power steering . When car comp reset i had power steering again. Power steering rack was just replaced feb 2017tail light replaced..flickered on n off like strobe light.airbag light on
Power steering assist and traction control light came on while driving and lost power steering causing major unsafe condition. Was able to drive vehicle but with great amount of difficulty turning the steering wheel. Took vehicle a shop where they got a code of u3000-96 there is a recall for 2011 mercury milan's 15v340000 it covers vehicles made 9/2010-2/2012 my milan was built 3/2010 yet not included in this recall even though many other owners have claimed the specific power steering assist feature failed in their cars as well. What is ones recourse as there is clearly a major safety problem with this component: thank you
The contact owns a 2011 mercury milan. While driving various speeds, the steering wheel seized and the "power steering assist lost" indicator illuminated. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 78,000.
Getting power steering assist code.was able to turn car off and restart and it would clear thus allowing the steering wheel to turn as expected. But now it won't clear.lucky i was able to drive car from 7-eleven to work which was not too far from my job.when looking up issue on line i came across recall, but when i looked up my vinit says there are no recall for my vehicle!!!this is extremely dangerous, and can't understand how so many cars are experiencing the same problem yet recall is not being honored. Again at high speeds this is very dangerous.
Service power steering light came on, 1 mile later, service advanced track light came on, shut car off and re-started and power steering did not work
Power steering goes out while driving. Clear the codes and it works fine. Has happened a few times now. Seen online there was a recall for this problem with some milans but when i called ford our car was not covered. Our car has the problems described in the recall its the right make, model and year, yet it is not covered?? i dont understand.
Just returned back home from a vacation and was driving my entire family back home from the airport.the weather was nice so i had the windows down while on the freeway.as i went to exit the freeway going about 72 mph, i realize the steering seemed more difficult than usual, but thought nothing more and proceeded to make a sharp left hand turn of the freeway going about 35 mph.as i entered the turn, i quickly realized the power steering was not working, as i struggled to keep my car from crashing into the bridge wall.as we came to a stop i noticed a message displayed on the dash about a power steering assist failure and the traction control was off.i never heard the warning due to the road noise and was caught completely off guard.had my wife been driving or the road been wet or snow covered, i am convinced, we would have crashed!my 2011 mercury milan has roughly 121,000 miles on it.after several days since, the power steering still does not work.my wife is afraid to drive the car as she can't even turn the car it out of our driveway as it takes considerable force to turn the wheel.
I lost the ability to steer on the interstate with no warning. The steering became difficult, so i took vehicle to ford dealer ship. At 77,000 miles, the warning for power advance flashed on the car. The dealership says that i need a new steering gear is needed and that it is not covered under warranty. The repair is estimated at $1767.00. This needs to have a recall, since this is happening with other mercury owners.
The contact owns a 2011 mercury milan. While driving 75 mph, the steering wheel seized and the power steering assist warning indicator illuminated. The contact slowed the vehicle down and pulled over to the shoulder. After a few minutes, the contact turned the ignition off, restarted the vehicle, and was able to drive normally. The dealer (corleys albuquerque lincoln volvo, 9000 pan american fwy ne, albuquerque, nm 87113) stated that the electric power-assist steering needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The vin was not included in nhtsa campaign number: 15v340000 (steering). The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 140,000.
Dangerous and hazardous to drive an infant when steering intermittently goes out
The contact owns a 2011 mercury milan. While the contact's son was driving approximately 15 mph, the steering lost power and an unknown warning indicator illuminated. The vehicle was taken to mccarthy ford (773-239-7900, located at 11400 s pulaski rd, chicago, il 60655) who stated that there was no recall. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and also stated that there was no recall. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 79,570. *dt
Started car and warning message came on saying "power steering assist fault". And steering became almost impossible. I found out that my car is not included in the power steering recall. I am concerned the steering will go out while driving, and i cannot afford to get this problem repaired, and it should be ford's responsibility to include all affected vehicles in their recall. My milan has about 66,000 miles.
The contact owns a 2011 mercury milan. The contact stated while driving 20 mph, the steering wheel ceased and made it difficult to steer the vehicle. The contact stated that the check engine warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to price ford of turlock (5200 n golden state blvd, turlock, ca 95382) to be diagnosed. The contact was informed that the steering rack and pinon needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired several times however, the failure recurred. The manufacturer was informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 23,000. The vin was not available.
The contact owns a 2011 mercury milan. The contact stated that while driving at 50 mph, the steering wheel seized. The power steering assist and traction control warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who diagnosed the failure as the rack and pinion needing to be repaired. The vehicle was not repaired. The dealer was not contacted. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 114,000.
The contact owns a 2011 mercury milan. While driving, the power steering assist indicator illuminated and the steering wheel suddenly became difficult to maneuver. The contact waited a few minutes to restart the vehicle and was able to drive normally. The contact called colonial ford at (203) 748-3503 (located at 120 federal rd, # 126, danbury, ct 06811) where it was confirmed that no recall was associated with the vin. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified. The approximate failure mileage was 120,000.
While driving the vehicle a warning came on stating power assist failure. Car had manual steering only. The first time it happened it went away when the car was restarted. No such luck this time, warning stays on and no power steering. Luckily i was on straight roads both times.i see there was a recall on this but the dealership says there is none??
The contact owns a 2011 mercury milan. The contact stated that while driving at approximately 40 mph, the steering wheel seized. The vehicle was taken to the dealer on various occasions where the power steering was reset but the failure recurred. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 80,000. The vin was not available.
Takata recall. The contact owns a 2011 mercury milan. Within months of owning the vehicle, the steering wheel became stiff. West herr ford of rochester (4545 w ridge rd, rochester, ny 14626, 1-(585) 352-1200) was notified several times, but could not provide a remedy. The failure continued and the steering wheel seized. The vehicle was towed to a repair facility where an independent mechanic indicated that there were two failure codes. The contact was advised to take the vehicle to a dealer for further diagnostic testing. The contact stated that a tie rod replacement and an alignment had previously been performed, but they failed to provide a permanent remedy. The contact planned to take the vehicle back to the dealer to be repaired per nhtsa campaign number: 19v001000 (air bags) and for more diagnostic testing regarding the steering. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and stated that the vehicle was excluded from nhtsa campaign number: 15v340000 (steering). The failure mileage was not available.
The contact owns a 2011 mercury milan. The contact stated that while driving 40 mph, the power steering failed and the service power steering now warning message displayed. The vehicle was not taken to the dealer. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure and current mileage was 50,000.
Power steering has completely gone out. It started to throw a trouble light when first started, dealer said turn the ignition off then back on and it should go away.this worked for awhile when problem randomly showed up. Then every time car was started. After a few days turning off the engine did not fix problem and power steering is no longer working.
Power steering has failed with "power steering fault" notice in dashboard.this happened as i started the car.i have researched this and it is covered by a real (#15s18) but ford does not have my car registered for this recall.
2011 mercury milan with eps steering. We had partial then full loss of power steering in vehicle when driving, luckily we were not traveling at high speeds and were able to control. After bringing to the dealership we are told that the entire eps power steering needs replacement. There was confusion at first because the service department thought it was a recall item. But after some checks, the date of manufacture was not covered. Apparently, the issue was recalled on several vehicles of the same model "with the exact same power steering system" we are very upset that this is not being taken care. The diagnoses was performed at a certified dealer "webber family motors in detroit lakes mn.how can a company recall only some of the vehicles, while leaving many others to have to pay high cost of replacement $1600 for a faulty power steering system? this is a major safety issue and im thankful that it did not cause a crash.
Was driving and power steering went out called ford dealer and was told it would cost 100 to 1000 to fix.
2011 mercury milan was being driven when power steering assist quit and vehicle was almost impossible to steer. Took vehicle to dealership and they said that most 2011 milans had recalls for this failure but my car was not on the recall list.i looked up the failure and the recall 15v340000 and ford's 15s34 listed the exact failure that my car experienced.why should i have to pay the estimated $2000 repair on an issue that is well documented as being a safety hazard.the ford dealership would not help me resolve this problem and i have a vehicle that can not be driven.
The contact owns a 2011 mercury milan. The contact stated that the power steering was faulty and it required excessive force to steer. 2011 mercury milan my wife was going to the mall with 3 year old in back seat stopped to turn into mall parking lot began her turn across trafic and electric power assist steering went out and into manual mode. This made the steering become very hard to turn. Because of this my wife was almosthit by a truck.thank god the driver of truck was able to stop before hitting my wifes vehicle.my wife is 120. Lbs there is no way she can steer this vehicle in manual mode. The nice driver of the truck helped my wife by driving the vehicle into parking lot and parking it.she was shook up but not injured.i understand there was a recall on some of the 2011 milans but my wifes car is not in this recall. I dont understand if a part is bad why are some coved for the problem and not others. I have appointment tomorrow morning at local ford dealership was told will cost me $400 -$500 to fix.
Traveling on highway at 55 mph "power steering now" light chime on and i started exiting at the nearest exit as i was approaching the exiti reduced my speed to 30 mph and i noticed the steering was getting stiff. I was in panic mode because cars were approaching the exit and i wasn't able to steer. I coast toa parking lot and had my vehicle towed.i have no trust in that car. First throttle bodyalmost was rear ended. Now this. No prior warning. Service now and it stop on you awhile you driving.
I am having to manually steer my 2011 mercy milan.i took the car to the dealership to have it inspected.there were two codes found and they are dtcs u3000-49 and c2000d-49.i was quoted it would be $1600.00 to fix the car.i googled the code "dtcs u3000-49 ford" and the search brought me to the website for a recall on 2011 mercury milan's.the recall number is 15s18. Per the recall, the affected vehicles have electric power steering assist systems that may shut down as a result of a steering motor sensor fault.i have contacted ford and they told me according to my vin, my car was made 9/2/2010 and the recall begins for cars made 9/7/2010 and after.they claimed my car has a different part.but obviously, my car is having the same lack of power steering as the recall and can cause an accident while driving and is very difficult to turn and steer.i declinded service but i will end up having them repair my vehicle for safety reasons.

The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the lower control arms were loose and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact owns a 2011 mercury milan. When the contact started the vehicle, the power steering assist warning indicator illuminated and the steering became inoperable intermittently. The contact stated that the vehicle was serviced per nhtsa campaign number: 15v340000 (steering) at bill cold ford lincoln (2119 greenup ave, ashland, ky 41101, 606-329-2120); however, the remedy failed to repair the vehicle. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and stated that the vehicle was already serviced. The failure mileage was approximately 180,000. Consumer stated power steering was defective. While driving down the street my power steering completely gave out and it says a whole bunch of stuff on the dash. I almost wrecked the car because it veered off to the right. Luckily i was able to pull over and tow the car home.
Going down the roadat 30 mph and lost steering,it didn'tlock downcompletelybut was very hard to turn. And power steeringassist fault showed up on my dash informationpanel.
I was driving about 35 mph when all of a sudden a warning for power advance flashed on the car. It got hard to steer so i took it to the dealership the same day at 99,000 miles. They said that a new steering gear is needed and that it is not covered under warranty, the cost would be around 1500.00 they told me. There was a recall for steering in june of 2015 ive had this vehicle since march of 2015, my car wasnt under recall which it needs to be cause there are other milans with the same issue. Ford's number for this recall is 15s18.
When i started the car, the power steering would not work, after a few seconds i turned the engine off and restarted it, then it worked just fine. The local ford dealer told me there was nothing they could do if it as long as it was working properly at the time i reported it to them. I can see this could be a real problem if it occurs while the vehicle is in motion. Since this happened approx. A year ago, the date and mileage are estimates.
Service power steering now message came up. Along with servive advancetrac message. Power steering is out completely but there is no recall for my specific vin. Went out while driving and could have caused an accident. Ford needs to recognize that their electric steering assist is faulty. Not just in some vehicles but all with this system.
Lost power steering while driving down the highway and i am a 77 year old women!i thank god that i did not have to go around anything because i would have hit it, being unable to move my steering wheel with ease!the 2011 mercury milan has a recall for this problem but my car was made 7 days before the recall so it is not under this recall #15s518
Power steering problem. Sensor indicates 'power steering assist fault'. Tried restarting my car several times to see if it would go away and hasn't. Please help. Vehicle was stationary when problem occurred.
Power steering stopped while driving vehicle. I noticed many 2011 milian's manufactured just about the mine was built have this major recall. When i put my vin in my does not come up with the very common recall. I could have injured my baby and others around me. This is serious! what else can be done?
My 90 year old dad (korean war vet) was sold this pile of junk at palestine ford. It was recalled twice. Once for power steering , and once for a gas tank sensor. It was supposedly fixed. Now the service advance track , and service power steering warning comes on and there is no power steering. And no one wants to inspect it. In addition to that, there was a tail light default on the vehicle. I spent $1,000 getting that fixed last year at inspection time. The assembly had to be replaced, so $700 of that was parts. Dad is still making payments on this piece of junk! i have driven for 42 years. I've owned numerous new and used cars, and i have never had a worse experience with a vehicle. How the hell, is this not considered a lemon under texas lemon law? what can i do?
The contact owns a 2011 mercury milan. The contact stated that the driver side door handle fractured. The window had to be rolled down to exit the vehicle. The manufacturer was notified. The vin was not included in nhtsa campaign number: 15v744000 (latches/locks/linkages). The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 65,000.
In august of this year i was pulled over by a police office who told me that my brake lights were on but not my tail lights.i took my car to the ford dealer in rockwall to find out that the cost of this to replace both my tail lights was $1018.10.had this officer not stopped me i would have never known this.i find it to be a very dangerous situation as the person behind me would not have known that i was stopping because the brake lights were the only thing working.please check into this as i see a serious accident happening.
The vehicle lost control of power steering. Now displays service power steering now. I noticed that there has been a recall on other 2011 mercury milans, but not mine. This seems very unsafe, and not an affordable fix. This issue needs to be repaired on multiply ford vehicles. I could cause loss of control.
1st incident, was driving the car and it started slowing down, was still drive able but had no power to be accelerated. Once arrived at destination turned the car off and sat for a minute, tried to restart the car and it started no problem.2nd and 3rd incidences, same problem occurred but was still en route so just pulled over to the side of the road and shut the car off then restarted.
Door handles keep breaking and locking mechanisms always malfunction. Either won't lock or won't unlock.keep replacing but parts are all plastic.also door on drivers sude the thing to hold it open also plastic and broke.has been happening fo several years now.first time i just thought i'll replace part and i'm good. But even my sons 2010 does the same thing.$200 in a shop for 1 door handle repair

The contact owns a 2011 mercury milan. The contact stated that while driving 65 mph, the vehicle jerked and the wrench warning icon illuminated. The contact coasted to the side of the road to restart the vehicle. The vehicle was restarted however, the failure recurred. The vehicle was taken to the dealer for inspection and they stated that the throttle body control needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. Just driving and engine cuts off due to bad throttle body.
I was driving down a local road at about 35 mph. All of a sudden, without warning, i could not get my gas pedal to do anything, like it was out of gear, and the engine seemed to be sputtering. I pulled off the road, shut the car off and after a few seconds, restarted the car, it restarted and drove fine. It did the same thing again the next day. It has happened a number of times since the first time... Happening about once per day. It seems to start up ok after i shut it down, but very unsafe to be driving down the road and then have no power and have to pull off.

I brought my 2011 mercury milan from sandy springs ford last year. The vehicle now has 60k miles on it and i am experiencing stalling/acceleration problems which are happening more frequently since the initial fault. When driving my car decelerates and i cannot pick up speed so the car eventually stops. The wrench light came on indicating something was wrong. This happened to me 4 four times since last week (3 times on the highway) and i had to hurry up and pull my vehicle over on the side of the highway as the speed decelerated and before it stopped (dangerous).i took my car to the dealership today and that said that it was a throttle body issue and that ford has been receiving numerous complaints regarding throttle bodies. I am highly concerned for the safety of myself and others driving these ford vehicles.

The vehicle was maneuvered to the side of the road where the engine was turned off. After restarting, the vehicle was able to resume normally. The failure recurred twice. The manufacturer was not notified of the defect. The approximate failure mileage was 67,000.
Driving up an on ramp to an interstate highway, the car would not react to increased depression of the throttle pedal. Tool indicator warning light illuminated on the dash. I barely was able to pull off to the berm, almost rear-ended. This has happened numerous times since first occurrence on 6/11/15-6/12/15 and appears to occur only when i have the air conditioning on. Very dangerous situation!
The contact owns a 2011 mercury milan. The contact was driving 10 mph when the vehicle accelerated abnormally as he depressed the brakes and shifted into neutral. The vehicle was taken to the dealer who ran a diagnostic test but could not duplicate the failure. The dealer kept the vehicle for two weeks with a flight recorder hooked to the engine, but they could not duplicate the failure.
I was driving on the interstate when the car suddenly stopped accelerating.a wrench appeared on the dashboard.i had to brake to a stop along the side of the interstate.i restarted the car and it seemed to work fine.this was wednesday.the same thing happened again on friday and then again on monday.at that point i took it to the ford service center.they had to replace the throttle body, costing me over $430.additionally, had any of the roads been busier or had no places to pull over, an accident easily could have occurred.
Driving at highway speed, i lost the ability to use the throttle. The engine ran, but did not respond to the pedal. I was forced to pull the car over, in traffic, and restart the car. Once the car was restarted, i was able to accelerate.
The contact owns a 2011 mercury milan. The contact stated that while driving approximately 45 mph, the vehicle decelerated then stalled. The contact was able to restart the vehicle. The failure occurred a second time. The vehicle was taken to the dealer for diagnosis. The technician stated the throttle would have to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 41,400.
I recently recieve a recall notice then receive a mother one from the department of motor vehicle department i went to the ford market i brought it from in brooklyn ny n they said they don't do that
