"takata recall"recall was issued january 10,2017. I have called their hotline twice, and each time they tell me they do not have a remedy to the problem.i tell them how i have 2 young kids and feel unsafe. They tell me they will make note of this. My husband called the local ford dealership last week. They told him that they called for the parts, but they aren't available. Told him to call back in a month to try again. When i check my status on the website it reads: recall statusrecall incomplete, remedy not yet availablehow is this acceptable!? my recall will be 2 years old in 2 months and nothing has been done about it! they sent out paperwork to rent a car,but i don't have the extra funds to cover the extra insurance ford said i'd need.they also told me i'd have to pay an extra $6/day, as ford is only covering $30/day. They told me i could have the rental for up to 3 months.this call was made back in july!!! that would have been 4 whole months of paying for extra insurance and money for a rental, and there doesn't seem to be an end in sight!

Takata inflators..i was told by the dealer there are no parts to fix the recall

Takata recall, i have received the notice 2 years ago and yet nothing has been done in order to fix the problem.i am afraid to have someone sitting up front, and when will this be done? how long does it take to get this fixed.? other cars were done, but not mercury's, why??the one portion of the airbag compartment is raised up a little. I m worried a good bump will set it off.

Takaka recall: still waiting for replacement.brakes: i was taking my granddaughter home and had to stop at a traffic light. My brake pedal went straight to the floor!! my heart was in my throat. Fortunately no-one was in front of me and i was able to stop after pumping many times.my service center said i needed a new abs system costing $1500.

On my dashboard, on the passenger side, there is a hole the part of the console pushed up where i think is the airbag. Plus my brakes are not working properly. I have to pump my brakes to make a complete stop. In icy conditions, i slow down while pumping my brakes lightly. I did not received any notices by mail on recalls. I've moved to a new location about 1 1/2 years ago. No accidents yet.

Takata recalli tried callingseveral lincoln dealerships to have the airbag inflators repaired but none of the dealerships have received the parts needed and have been waiting since june 2016. I can't sell the vehicle which only has 29,000 miles on it because of their failure to supply the repair parts needed.i can't drive the car because i'm afraid to!

Other car failed to yield at stop sign. My car hit the suv in the door area. My front end and hood are damaged. Airbags did not deploy. My car was in motion on a city street.

"takata recall"... June of 2016 received a recall notice. Said they would get in touch with me when the recall gets rectified. It is now 6-29-17 and have not received anything. It has been over a year and they are saying "recall incomplete, remedy not yet available"

Takata recallthe recall appears to be ongoing. I plan to move out of state requiring me to drive long distance with a passenger, a pet and my belongings. With the recall on the passenger airbag, i feel uncomfortable going forward with my move. My other option is to sell the car, but that would not be fair to the buyer. Please provide an alternate solution besides a rental car.

Takata recall i have contacted my carlot whom told me to contact ford.i did so i told them of the issue and i was blown off i then proceeded to inform them that i have a family of 5 in which i need use of my passenger seat they continued to say they understand my frustration and that i would not be compensated for this inconvenience i was told by my carlot that i would have to trade my vehicle in which i would have to pay cash for i need this to be escalated to higher levels of help

This is a very dangerous condition and no remedy is available.how can this be allowed?

Takata recall.i consider this delay inexcusable.i drive an older vehicle in a state with very hot summers...both indicators of a greater risk of airbag malfunction.whyis this taking so long?? i wrote a letter to ford motor company on 9-12-16 but still have no idea when a replacement airbag will happen.

Takata recallthis is a complaint regarding the passenger airbag recall that has yet to be remedied since the first time we were notified of the problem in may/june 2016. It is extremely inconvenient to not be able to utilize the passenger seat due to the recall warning. Why hasn't anything be done in three years to address this safety issue?

Takata recall:my passenger side front seat airbag is very swollen.i have brought it to ford dealers for the past 3 or so years but they tell me it is not a recalled vehicle.i saw in a recent newspaper article that 2006-2009 mercury milan airbags now have a recall.i have not received a letter from ford as of yet.my airbag is extremely swollen and can't be pushed back down or glued in, it would have to be entirely replaced at this point according to repair shops that i have visited.it is definitely a defective piece of equipment in this car and looks to be dangerous.this car has never been in a front end collision that i am aware of.

Info from nhtsa (https://www.nhtsa.gov/recalls): "jun 01,2016manufacturer recall number16s26nhtsa recall number16v384recall statusrecall incomplete, remedy not yet available"we live in houston - a hot, highly humid environment. These ambient conditions are said to be associated with a higher risk of danger with takata airbags. The recall was announced nearly 2 years ago, and the extent of ford's response includes the following: "parts are not yet available, but your vehicle is safe to drive in the meantime." (https://owner.ford.com/tools/account/maintenance/recalls/results.html)how is this even remotely acceptable? these airbags have killed few and injured more. Yes, the probability is low, but "safe for now" is a ludicrous and arrogant response to what has been characterized as a low probability, high-potential safety risk. It's easy for ford to not care when they are not assuming the high-potential portion of that low probability risk with their own lives. Again, from this nhtsa website: "long-term exposure to high heat and humidity can cause these air bags to fail." (https://www.nhtsa.gov/takata-air-bags/takata-recall-expansion-what-consumers-need-know). Long term exposure to high heat and humidity? houston has very high heat and humidity for the majority of the year. In the meantime, we haven't been using the front passenger seat of our 2008 mercury milan. Where is our compensation for loss of use? do i need to send 1000000 of these useless complaints daily for ford to be pressured to actually do something? i'm not impressed. June 1st, 2016 recall with no action taken near the end of q1 2018? do better.

Takata recall i asked for change airbag from vista ford and calpain lincoln, but they said they didn't have part.my car has only 35,000 mil . Now almost ten years pass and i wonder when they want the airbag .

Went in to newberg ford dealership in newberg, oregon about a month and a half ago, to ask about the takata airbags and if i can schedule a time to get replaced.the person at the counter informed me that they do not have the fix in and that whoever was responsible is going through the united states by sections and that oregon was the last section.my daughter drives this car and want it fixed as it is potentially very unsafe.not sure what i can do.the airbag seems to be bulging out of the dashboard at this time.

Takata recall we are still waiting for parts......i think this could be a very dangerous situation.

2008 mercury milan.consumer writes in regards to replacement parts not available to repair passenger frontal airbag inflator recall notice.the consumer stated the engine light illuminated shortly after the vehicle was purchased.

Takata recall we've been told about this recall and have not been told what to do about it. We need to know what to do because my wife has had people ride in her car. We don't want to be sued or have anyone die because of this airbag issue. Please tell us what to do here. Thank you

My car was sitting for a month in my driveway. I just got back from vacation. Next day i was going to work, my air bag light came on. I was not sure if it was safe for me to drive to work. Right away i called my garage and they told me that i should bring it in to get it inspected. Upon inspection they realized that the sensor under my passengers seat was malfunctioning. They gave me the exact name of the problem. Its a b2290 occupant classification system status, front passenger side. The problem is that i'm the only one that drives that car and rarely does somebody sit in the passenger seat. Something needs to be done with this problem. I m not the first one to have this same problem. My garage fixed the problem. But i believe that this should be posted on the recalls for this type of car. This is a serious safety hazard concern.

Takata recall - have not had an issue as yet since i am not suppose to drive the car until recall is satisfied. When will replacement airbags be available so we can use the vehicle. We have a vehicle we are told is unsafe to drive. Why are parts not available. Why can't ford rectify the situation!! i can't sell the car in without having this corrected and not suppose to drive it. I cannot afford to buy a brand new car and leave this one sitting there in the garage.from reading below, i guess this can happen even without a crash, just driving the vehicle.

This car airbag has been reported to be defective and for my safety i need it replaced

Takata recall. Despite being notified over a year ago that my passenger airbag could potentially cause death to any passengers in the case of deployment, i am told that there are no airbag replacements at the local dealer and that there is no estimated time frame for their availability. So i am stuck driving a potential death trap due to the negligence of takata both in design and in remediation of their grave error. Tk holdings sent me a postcard urging that i get the airbag replaced as takata has declared bankruptcy, but there seems to be no actual way to do so. So i continue to be stuck driving an unsafe vehicle due to manufacturer negligence.

David mcdavid plano said no replacement air bags are available and nonchalantly said its only lawyers drumming up business.

Takata too! i drove milan to stop sign. As i went forward, went into 'limp home' mode (found term while researching). 1st time this ever happened. No forewarning!i was able to get car to crawl to the curb. Saw orange wrench light up. Shut off engine. When i restarted, i was able to drive short distance home. Next day, tried 3 times to start. It started, but quickly stalled each time. Towed to my mechanic. He checked computer, saw there was a problem. He doesn't do that work. Told me wrench and engine light come on. Towed to ford dealership on friday. It is now 9 days there, and day 11 will be monday 3/19/18. I spoke 3 times to service dept.(same person), and am being told they are backed up with work, and haven't looked at my car yet. Each convo he says what day they should get to it, but have lied so far. So, not diagnosed yet. I have never received any notice from ford about this possibly becoming an issue with my car. Also, i never received notice about 'takata recall'. I saw it on the internet and alerted service dept. To check that too. I was told they have to see if my car has that type of airbag. I researched and saw the ford consumer program 13n03. That investigation involves 2009-2013 milans. Extended warranty 10 yrs or 150,000 miles. I know this is the problem with my car. I bought it may 2011 with under 52,0000 miles on it. Not even 7 yrs yet, and i have under 60,000 miles on it because it's only for local driving. It's the only vehicle i have and i can't get rental car help thru insurance unless my car was in an accident. Ford won't help on a loaner car either. Now, i believe ford has a protocol they are following to 'get out' of any free repairs. The nccc suggests phoning 1-800-392-3673 if i never received letter, but that phone number is ford! seriously? should i bother? this is in staten island, ny. Beware! can i please get any help on what to do?

Takata recall on ford mercury milan.in february 2017 and again may 2017 ford motor company would not tell me when my car will be repaired.freedom ford in tazewell, va said the takata recall was a notice and not a recall. They will not furnish a vehicle until our car is repaired and this is our only car and we have two young children. The recall says "injury or death could result"it is impossible for everyone to ride in the back seat. I am worried sick for our safety. Ford motor company should be ashamed.

Takata inflators:there seems to have been enough time now to get the airbags replaced.this is my daughters car and i just think that if this were the daughter of a big wheel at takata, the air bag would have been replaced already.enough time, get it done !!!!

The dash where the passenger airbag is located is coming apart. It appears that something is pushing the dash apart from the inside.this has been developing since we purchased the car in spring of 2016. No accidents to the front of the car have occurred.

This car has caused nothing but tears and stress. I am a single mother and this purchase was huge for me and i can't even look at it without being stressed. First off the airbags were recalled over two years ago and ford still hasn't received parts. So my daughter can't even drive in the passenger seat. Second and this is the major problem is when i hit a pothole or uneven pacing of street the breaks hit the floor as does not come to a complete stop. This is terrifying. I went through a stop sign and missed a turn another time. Almost slammed into the back of a car in front of me also. I replaced brakes again and had mechanics look at it to fix one thing for it to still happen. I have flashbacks of the accidents i've almost been in. It's just my daughter and i and this car is not safe. Hey ford, are you going to pay my my therapists appointments for the stress you have thrown on me???? below it's asking for when this happens-it happens every month and i can not afford to put in any more work!!!!!!!!! i purchased this car 11/20/2015 and it was happening every few months and now it's every other week. This car is a death trap.

A recall notice was received from ford motor company in july 2016 advising of safety recall 16s26. It stated that that when the parts became available i would be notified.to date we have not received notification of the parts being available.after receiving notification of takata's bankruptcy, a call was made to holman lincoln, maple shade, nj where the car was purchased.their service department knows nothing of this recall.

Takata recall there has been a recall out since june 1, 2016 and it is still listed as recall status: recall incomplete. Remedy not yet available. They are to notify me by mail to let me know when i am able to get this recall fixed. I believe that it has been long enough that this is a concerning enough problem that it should be available by now to be fixed.

Takata recall - i called the dealership to get my car serviced for the airbag recall replacement and they stated they received a letter informing them there are no airbag parts to replace the recalled equipment due to takata filing for bankruptcy. The deadline for filing proof of claim is 12/27/2017 but no parts will be available until spring 2018, according to the letter the dealership received. I did submit a claim form on the tkrestructuring.com/ppic page as well.

I have been notified by ford motor company several times about the recalls on my vehicle.one recall is for airbags.i went to the closest dealership new my small town and thought they issued the fix, only to learn later that they just disconnect the airbag light.the second recall is for the brakes, i have been calling since january of 2021 to request a service date only to be told they have no knowledge of the recall.on march 30,2021 i finally got a service date and express to the representative on the phone to assure that she knew it was for the break recall 19s54, she assured me the knew.i took off work that morning for by service appointment only to be told that they did not have the equipment to fix the issue.i was told to call other dealerships and turned away. I called 4 surrounding dealerships with in a 50 mile radius only to be told no one can perform the procedure.i then called ford customer relationship center for assistance.she called one other dealership that said they could not fix the issue as well.april 2020 i receive a letter from ford motor company saying parts are now available to repair you vehicle.called dealership 5/17/2021 they still cannot fix issue nor have any information on who can.help!ford motor company, how can i get the recalls fix if none of your dealerships in my area are capable of repairing them?

Nothing has happened as yet (my vehicle has not been involved in an accident).but i am concerned with ford company's slow processing of this recall of takata frontal airbags.i received my first recall notice in july of 2016 and have contacted ford dealers in 3 states over the past year."parts not yet available" is the consistent response.now that tk holdings and its parent company takata have filed for bankruptcy in several countries, i am concerned that the replacement will not take place at all, and that my family may undergo serious injury should the bags malfunction in the event of an impact.i would ask that any pressure possible be placed on the companies involved to ensure that the recall and replacement of this critical safety feature is honored as soon as possible.

Takata recall - i received the recall notice, dated march, 2017, instructing me to contact my dealer (mason city ford lincoln) for a free replacement airbag.unfortunately, i broke my back on christmas eve, 2016 and had extensive surgery in august, 2017, so i did not make the call to the dealership where i had purchased the vehicle until january 3, 2018.at that time, the service repair person informed me that the replacement part necessary to remedy the situation had not yet been made available to him by the company. I asked specifically, "so you are telling me that there is no way you are able to obtain the part at this time to make the repair needed to make this vehicle safe?" the service person replied that was correct, that there was nothing he could do.i again restated, "so i am just supposed to continue driving around with airbags full of shrapnel?" he replied that he was sorry.obviously, this response and complete lack of remedial options is dangerous and unacceptable.it is preposterous that lives continue to be at stake due to a lack of parts, that this fact is well documented (see www.safercar.gov) and nothing is being done to force the company's hand, while in the meantime they are conveniently able to make use of the nation's bankruptcy courts to further mitigate their losses. In what way is the consumer being protected here? what is the point of a recall if the consumer is unable to rid himself of the defective product? obviously, there is a very serious flaw in this system, as the protection i am receiving is virtually nil. As i have never been involved in a recall prior to this, i have been operating under the possibly mistaken belief that this was a valid and effective system. I am hoping to see the proof.

Takata recall - local ford dealer still does not have the parts to replace the airbags.

No remedy provided; please advise on how to resolve this issue.

So ford sends us a recall notice telling us death could occur for the airbag malfunction but that no solution is available. The good news is ford will contact us when a solution is available at which time they will fix the car. In the meantime there is nothing they can do given it is a supplier problem. So now what do we do? always drive the car with no one but the driver? called ford and that is basically the only answer they have.

Passenger side air bag is in dashboard.cover on air bag is lifting up.took it into dealership. They said that happens because of the heat and that unless the air bag light goes on the air bag itself is ok.they would have to replace the entire dashboard at a cost of over $2000.00.noticed it in 2014 for the first time. A year later and it is getting worse with more of the cover buckling up.had the car back at the dealership for oil change and asked service dept. Manager about it again.he said it's not a big deal -he's seen it before.just needs some glue but they won't repair it.called around to various vinyl repair and car repair places.no one will touch it because it's by the air bag.we live in northeast ohio - not a warm state like florida.this shouldn't be happening and if it is just the cover then why won't the dealership fix it with whatever glue was used when they manufactured the car?i don't want to risk the airbag deploying.i googled this problem and there are other people out there with the same issue in the 2007 and the 2008 milan but no one has responded to their questions of how to repair it.updated 09/09/15*lj

Takata recall for my vehicle. The areas in front on the dashboard look as though the entire system beneath the material wants to fall apart. As if the dashboard is slowing deforming.brakeswhen pressing the brakes while driving over rough surfaces, wet surfaces, dry surfaces, or uneven surfaces the brakes will simply "go out". The brake pedal will go all the way down to the floor. Its almost like the brakes are experiencing a strong-winded belch. The brakes will not allow the car to come to a full stop even when pressing down full force on the brakes. It takes a few moments of holding the brake pedal down as hard as possible in order for the vehicle to truly stop. On even-flat surfaces, if i'm in a situation where i need to press down on the brakes immediately, the brakes will simply "go out". The many different surfaces refer to train tracks, flat/even paved roads, wet pavement roads that are moist or wet streets that have an uneven areas, or dry surfaces. After several attempts to regain the proper function of the brakes, the function will come back. I'm forced to pull over to the side of the road and turning on the hazard lights so i can constantly "pump" the brake pedal. Every day i get behind the wheel i'm afraid for my life and others on the road with my vehicle because the vehicle is very unsafe due to the improper function of the brake system and the poor airbags. The problem with the brakes happens to me every day i leave my neighborhood. It's so unsafe to not press the brakes before leaving my neighborhood. I have to roll over the area very slowly so the brakes don't "go out". In the front of my neighborhood, there is a crosswalk and kids are always walking past the neighborhood because the high school is right across the street. I have to slowly go over the rough area, which has 2 speed bumps and brick pavement in between the two speed bumps.

Takata recall passenger side air bag is bulging dashboard

The air bags have been fixed.sometimes when i apply my brakes they are soft and i have to apply more pressure to stop. When this happens i drive really slow because i don't know if i'm going to be able to stop in time. I have not kept track of how many time this has happened. At least 5 times in the last 6 months. Twice i went to my mechanic and they bled the brake line to get it fixed. Winter is here and i hope this does not cause a wreck because you expect us to wait until you get the parts. I have no other transportation and need my car.

Takatarecall - recall issued jun 1, 2016. Parts for repair are still not available as of nov 2017.

Takata recallford has now warned us by mail that we should not allow anyone to sit in the front passenger seat of this vehicle.they have also advised that repairs will not be available until spring 2018 and that those repairs will be made in a priority order determined by the nhtsa.this is totally unacceptable.since the remedy parts have already been delayed once, it is possible that this car could be unsafe for a front seat passenger for a very long time.since this is the second of our cars now considered unsafe for front seat passengers, we are very upset.something more has to be done to get these repairs completed in a more timely manner.also, we planned to sell this car in the next year.no one will want to purchase a vehicle with an unusable front passenger seat, so we now have a vehicle with no resale value.who is going to reimburse us for that?

Takata recall - when i check on the recall it states remedy not yet available, however with takata corporation filing bankruptcy i am concerned that the recall on my car will never get done - what should i do?the air bag light is on in my car, i am concerned that it might not be safe to drive.

I got into a car crash and my air bags did not come out when i got into a car crash

"takata recall' -we received the ford motor co. Recall notice in july 2016 and we have written three letters requesting a date to have the airbag replaced.ford keeps telling us that the parts are not available in order to set a replacement date.it's now over a year and still no notice to take the car in for the replacement.

I'm just now getting a recall letter stating that parts for my car have been recalled and it appears as though they have known since july 2016. Additionally it states that they have sent me a previous letter which is entirely not factual and this is the first i'm hearing about it. Also there is no fix? so how am i suppose to trust the safety of my car when they can't even fix it for me? i also find it convenient that they are just now letting me now, now that it's over the statutory time frame in which they would have to fix on their dime.

Inquired with freeway barbee ford dealership in denver co a year after recall was announced for my vehicle (june 2016 announced, inquired aug 2017) about replacing passenger airbag inflator and was informed that the recall status is incomplete/not-ready and there is nothing the dealer can do.checking recall status moments ago, it still reads:...recall status: recall incomplete. Takata inflators. I received a notice about this recall many months ago. I've called my local dealerships to check for a repair and they still (as of today 10/4/18) tell me that they do not have the parts available and are not able to fix. I cannot believe i've been required to drive around with this hazard for so long while ford has not been able to come up with a solution. This is not acceptable.

Takata recallstill no word on when the recall will be fixed, recall issued 6/1/16, notices sent 6/15/16 advising owners that they will be notified when parts are available. Still nothing

I am 26 years old and weigh 93 lbs.when i sit in the passenger seat of my 2008 mercury milan, the sensors in the seat sometimes tell the car that i am a child and deactivates the passenger airbag.i cannot drive in a car where my airbag may or may not be activated.the ford dealership said that they cannot adjust the weight because of federal guidelines.something needs to change.i am not going to sit in the back seat.either the dealership needs to fix the problem or the weight requirement needs to be adjusted.

Involved in a serious motor vehicle crash on 8/14/08 in my vehicle and the air bags failed to deploy.this was a side, almost t-bone impact, and the curtain/side air bags did not deploy.as a result i had glass lacerations and my head hit the driver's window, smashing it and causing injury to my head.

I was driving about 45 mph on a city street, when the car just shut down. I tried to give it gas, nothing happened. Steering wheel locked up. I still had power to the radio and lights but the car went limp. I was barley able to turn it into a parking lot for safety because the steering wheel locked up.i turned off the car waited afew minutes and started it back up with no problems.i am lucky i wasn't in traffic, because this would have caused an accident, it went from 45 mph tonothing in seconds.

This complaint is similar to nhtsa id number: 10543085. 08 mercury milan with 3.0l 139,226 miles started missing and bucking while driving 60 mph on the highway. Took car to the local ford dealer who told me that coil on plug #4 (cop) was melted and had fried the vehicles pcm. The ford dealer quoted me $2,630.70 for the repair. He told me this issue was common and known by ford. I can see how a cop can go bad after 139,226 miles, but i have a hard time with a cop melting and sending some sort spark back to the pcm and destroying a $700 part. Terrible engineering practice ford. In order for the cop to melt to a point such that it did, it would had to be close to starting an engine fire. That would be very bad indeed. This could have even cause a lose of control at highway speeds. You do the math the result of that. Not good. I also find it hard to believe that there has been no recall for this issue.

Car acted like it was about to running out of gas.i had about 1/4 tank of gas but went to fill the tank immediately.it still acted as if it was going to stall out,i drove vehicle home and left it parked in the driveway.later that evening i was telling my husband about the car, he went out to test drive it.the car acted completely fine.today i went to go on a 65 mile trip and the car started shaking almost uncontrollably more than 1/2 way with a full tank of gas.i waited til i was in a safe area and pulled over thinking that maybe i didn't warm the car up enough.i sat for several minutes and proceeded ahead to my destination but was petrified that i was gonna stall out cause that's how the car was acting.as soon as i arrived i called ford and told them and they wanted me to wait a few days for an available appt.we took the car to a local mechanic and he made us aware that the problem was a tbs.the pcm is bad and coils are melted.i was just wondering if there was ever a recall issued for this problem since i've read so many of the same complaints.

While pulling out of a parking lot into the street, the electronic throttle body failed, putting the car into a "safe mode" with extremely limited power.was able to use reverse to move car back into parking lot.i know that this exact issue (loss of power due to electronic throttle body failure) has caused a recall for some ford and mercury models, including the milan, but it does not yet include my car's model year.from my experience, the recall should be expanded.

The contact also experienced an intermittent warning indicator illuminating. The failure mileage was approximately 130,000. Vin tool confirms parts not available.

My 2008 mercury milan stalls and accelerates rapidly when driving. I have to place my feet on the brakes and gas at stops because the engine increases power and the car actually jumps at times without my foot being on the pedal. There is no warning before this rapid acceleration and i have actually almost hit other cars because of this defect. My vehicle stalled a couple of days ago and i took it to a local dealership and i was informed that i needed to replace the following items. 1. Power train control module2. Ignition coils3. Spark plugs4. Throttle bodyi called ford's customer service and explained that the car was dangerous to drive and i was informed that it was nothing the company could do to assist me.

The contact owns a 2008 mercury milan. The contact stated while driving at approximately 10 mph, the vehicle stalled without warning. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where the technician diagnosed that the throttle was defective and needed to be replaced.the manufacturer was made aware of problem. The approximate failure mileage was 12,000.updated 8/11/14

Upon putting vehicle in reverse the throttle increased on its own reaching nearly 6k rpms, by quickly placing the shift lever in neutral and applying the brake i was able to avoid a collision. Restarted the car engine light was on as well as the maintenance light, after checking for codes 2110 was present, cylinder 3 had misfired. Drove the car home it was fine. Drove the car for a week with 2 more of the same incidents (increased acceleration with out pushing the pedal) while driving. On 10/14/13 while at a stop light the car increased the throttle on its own to 6k rpms and upon release of the brake my tires broke loose and began to squeal again i was able to control the car by shifting in to neutral and the rpms settled at 600, i shifted back into drive and it has been fine for 2 days. After little research it seems like this is a common issue (google search) the electronic throttle body is malfunctioning at random mileage ranges and without warning in both the mercury milan and ford fusion. I am highly concerned that a replacement part would not even fix the vehicle. Its not safe to drive and people need to be warned, might be like toyota incident.

The contact owns a 2008 mercury milan. The contact stated that whiled driving 65 mph, the vehicle stalled. The contact mentioned that check engine and battery warning lamp illuminated. The vehicle was not taken to the dealer. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The vin was not available. The failure and current mileage was 110,816.

The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, but was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 93,000.

I was driving on the highway at about 45 mph when engine seemed to gradually lose all power. I steered the car onto the shoulder of the road to get out of traffic and subsequently turned the car off and then re-started it, at which point it seemed to drive okay but at times still felt like it might stall. The check engine light came on, as well as the wrench light and traction warning light. The wrench and traction lights went off eventually but the check engine light continues to be on. A few days after the initial incident i was at a stopsign near my house in the vehicle and when i went to accelerate through from the stop sign there was practically no acceleration. I was able to turn around and drive back to my house but only at a speed of less than 5mph the whole way (approx 1/4 mile). As i had to go up a small hill to get to my house, the car did not have enough power to get all the way up the hill and i had to pull over again and re-start the car, at which point i was able to make it the rest of the way home.

No matter if cold or hot, going forward or backward, engine surges. Better have foot on brake hard to keep from surging uncontrollable. Hold on for dear life.

After replacing my car battery, the service light for the throttle body transmission came on. When i went to drive off there was no engine power.

Takata too! i drove milan to stop sign.

I brought my 2008 mercury milan premier (purchased 7-30-10) as a cpo vehicle, 6,900 miles, to metropolitan lincoln mercury, garden city, mi (734-458-1961).i reported the driver's seat mount was completely rusted out and needed to be fixed (they refused, saying it is normal), there is excessive traveling distance when braking (they said the brakes were "fine"), there is excessive exhaust noise (a known problem that they said they don't know when the fix is coming), and the transmission doesn't shift properly (stays in one gear too long/also a known problem).for known problems, either i have to pay for it (the transmission) or they don't know and don't care about the other known problem (a resonator for the exhaust system to reduce excessive noise). I have never heard of seat brackets rusting out being normal.i feel if left unchecked, it may become a safety issue.despite the fact i bought an extended warranty, it appears they want to come as close to $100 as possible (my deductible), fix one item, and then get me to come back again, so they can collect my $100 deductible again for a problem they did not address the first time i complained about it.they said the rust is normal although i have never in all my life had a car that rusted out in that area and it is absolutely not normal, a hazard and must be fixed.obviously, they have chosen to deal with issues that are only simple, where they can make the most money/don't have to dole out any, and avoid ones where the obvious solution is too costly, may cost them some money, or are too complicated.

In april of 2012 the rear drivers side tail lights blew out.this was right after my lease expired and i had purchased the vehicle.i also bought the extended warranty.since my lease was up, this was not covered, and much to my surprise, it was not covered under the extended warranty.my vehicle only had 30,000 miles.i wrote several letters and lodged complaints with my dealership and with ford. Finally in may of 2012, they decided to fix it, free of charge.yesterday, may 12th, 2015, the rear drivers turn signal blew out.these repairs are outrageously priced, as they are led.they should last for 10 to 20 yrs, but now i have 2rear drivers side lighting systems that have failed within 3 yrs.my vehicle currently has 60,000 miles on it.completely unacceptable and very dangerous.i plan on contacting my dealership and ford to see if there is anything that can be done.

The failure of the throttle body fortunately occurred in the driveway of a vacation home in chandler, arizona.i was able to have the car towed to the nearest ford dealership where the part was replaced.i hate to think what could have happened if we were in a traffic situation when the failure took place. Even though the engine will still run at an idle, the accelerator will not respond enough to move the vehicle forward or backward.ford needs to recognize the failure of this part as a life threatening matter and issue a recall of all models affected.

After i replaced the original battery, i started the engine.i was unable to accelerate above 750 r.p.m. Which is the approximate idle speed of the car.while in gear, i was unable to move forward or back due to lack of power.i had the car towed to the nearest ford dealer in chandler, az.they diagnosed the problem as failure of the throttle body.after replacement, the car is operating normal, although it has only been four days since the service was performed.i do not trust it anymore.

The following check engine codes appeared: p2104, p2112.the throttle body has to be replaced.

183 miles worth of gas leaked out of the car in a couple days. I drove less than 3 miles and noticed the miles until empty light was rapidly going down. I took it home immediately and parked it. Almost all of it leaked out parked at home. Fuel light is on.

Pulled 2008 milan in parking lot, put in park, engine began to race, tapped gas pedal, engine returned to normal. Car started fine, driven short distance, i stopped at stop sign. Put foot on gas pedal, car began 'limp home' mode, was able to pull to curb. Wrench light appeared. Shut car off a few minutes.started fine, wrench light on, was able to drive few blocks to get home. Next day started engine 3 times, each stalling within seconds. Never had issues with car. Purchased precertified in 2011, 52,0000 mi. On it.will own 7 yrs. May 2018. Iput 1000 mi. Yrly. On car. Odometer now under 59,500. On 3/9/18 car towed to dealership (where i purchased it). Car sat in lot 10 days before looked at. Finally, checked and diagnosed. Installed new throttle body. Re-tested. I've spoken to numerous staff already & asked for loaner car. Not granted. I did internet research & found lawsuit against ford about 'limp home' mode involving throttle body & computer sensors defect on ford, mercury & lincoln brought on by nccc. Ford not forced to recall this defect involving 1.6 million cars. Many internet sites have shown complaints with this issue. It is a major safety hazard! numerous owners wrote to validate car repaired only to experience same 'limp home' incident return. Stories involve highway driving when loss of acceleration occurred. Someone has to be killed by this manufacturing defect before it's back to forcing ford to own up toneglectto make a profit. My experience leaves me without a car, cancellations of appts, relying on cabs or friend to shop.this is a serious safety issue. It's now 4 weeks without a car. Am told warranty expired. Can i please be directed to proper government agency with jurisdiction to help me resolve this?

The contact owns a 2008 mercury milan. The contact stated that the vehicle was going into limp mode and there was a drastic reduction in speed. The contact had to maneuver the vehicle each time the failure happened. The manufacturer generated a service campaign, but stated that the contact's vehicle was not included. The dealer stated that the throttle body may need to be replaced. The approximate failure mileage was 162,000.

Transmission erving out between 45-55 miles per hour and would not shift into higher gear. This was also causing it to idle rough when at a stopped position. Lately it will hit an area in the transmission where it will wind the transmission out to 5500 rpm's and not shift.

The car has a defective throttle body actuator which is causing the car to have no acceleration or unexpected acceleration at various times.

I was driving down the hwy when my wrench light came on. All of a sudden, i lose power and can't get past 45 mph and the tachometer goes into the red. I shut off the car, call a tow truck and have it towed to the ford dealership. They did a diagnostic and said the my 2 and 4 gears are gone and that i would need a new transmission to the tune of $7200.the car only has 89,000 miles on it and after researching online, i found that ford has been having issues with this particular transmission.

The contact owns a 2008 mercury milan. While driving approximately 45 mph, the vehicle stalled without warning. The failure recurred. The vehicle was towed to jarrett scott ford of plant city (877-751-9729, located at 2000 e baker st, plant city, fl 33563) where it was diagnosed that the electronic throttle body needed to be repaired. The dealer also located unknown failure codes. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and stated that there was no recall. The failure mileage was 72,293.

Well, there have been lots of problems with my mercury. On my trips to tennessee to care for my elderly parents, on a return trip from tennessee to florida, my car lost power steering and slowed to a crawl. I was able to manipulate my car to the side of the road where it was not overheating but would not increase in speed past 20 mph. I was able to take an exit and find an autoparts store and have the engine checked, the belt had come completely off without being broken. I had to have this replaced.i have experienced a total loss of coolant when the hose broke loose. Also, my problems with the wear and replacement of brake pads and rotors very, very frequently. This seems to be a major issue with this car. This morning, 12/8/2015, on my way to work the wrench light came on and i noticed my car jumping when slowing and changing to the lower gears and also upon accelerating, the jumping also occurred. I have contacted my mechanic and am awaiting a response.

I was driving down highway 27 when all of a sudden my milan lost acceleration and would not keep current speed. I drifted over to the side of the road when it turned off completely. The ac/radio/windows still worked but the car would not crank back up. The engine felt like it was shaking while trying to start it back. After about 5-10 minutes the car started right back up and had no other issues until about 3 days later. I thought it might be bad gasoline so i did purchase a fuel cleaner to see if that would help. The problem came back another 2 days later where it would lose acceleration and just drift to a stop. Same issue of having to wait a few minutes before the car would start back up again. The car is now completely parked at my parents house since i can not trust when the car will work or not work. I have two small children and cannot be rear ended because this issue is happening.

I was driving down the road when my car started running on four cylinders instead of 6. I was able to get it to the dealership via tow truck. They had to replace my powertrain control module (pcm) and a coil that was burnt. They followed the tsb 13-4-17 that related to the 2006-2008 ford/lincoln/mercury pcm problems. Prior to this event, my car had not shown any signs of malfunction.

I was driving on the highway at about 45 mph when engine seemed to gradually lose all power. I steered the car onto the shoulder of the road to get out of traffic and subsequently turned the car off and then re-started it, at which point it seemed to drive okay but at times still felt like it might stall. As i had to go up a small hill to get to my house, the car did not have enough power to get all the way up the hill and i had to pull over again and re-start the car, at which point i was able to make it the rest of the way home.

The contact owns a 2008 mercury milan. While driving approximately 50 mph, a loud noise was heard from the engine compartment. In addition, when the accelerator pedal was depressed, the vehicle failed to operate. When the contact shifted into first gear and then back into drive, the vehicle was able to operate. The contact called jenkins & wynne ford, honda, & lincoln (2655 trenton rd, clarksville, tn 37040, (931) 542-4886) and was informed that there were no recalls for the failures. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failures. The approximate failure mileage was 140,000.

Uncontrollable acceleration issue. Could not get car to stop with brakes, e brake, shut off neutral shift. Reached speeds in excess of 80mph. Finally car slowed down, smoke coming from vents. Towed to local dealer no response yet.

Takara recall. Front airbags buckle during stationary mode in direct sunlight. Driver's seat airbags also buckled off track while in motion.

Suddenly, 2 months after purchasing a 2008 mercury milan premier from a lincoln mercury dealership, i noticed a significant amount of rust in the seat brackets and power seat hardware on both the driver and passenger side.the car had 6,900 miles when i bought it as a cpo vehicle.i also bought an extended warranty.i took the car to the dealership on monday october 11, 2010 and they said the rust was normal (i disagree).the rust is now seeping into the carpet as well.yesterday, october 18, 2010, i took the vehicle to an independent certified mechanic for an opinion.he concurs that it is not normal and possibly a safety hazard.the dealership has not returned my phone callsthis car is practically new and i refuse to believe that an accelerating amount of rust on my vehicle is safe, attractive or normal.there is also an exhaust noise (confirmed by the dealership) but they said ford will not fix it since it isn't a safety issue.this car is practically brand new.the car belonged to a couple who only drove it in the summer in michigan since they stayed in florida in the winter.it is pristine except for those 2 dangerous problems.i feel they refuse to fix it because it is time consuming and costly.the dealership tried to tell me that taking the seat apart will "weaken" it and "it will never be the same".cars are taken apart every day and people too!that's what doctors and mechanics are for.please help me before the seat separates from the frame and i have an accident.

The contact owns a 2008 mercury milan. The contact stated that the daughter was driving at approximately 35 mph and the brakes malfunctioned when depressing the brake pedal causing the driver to lose control of the vehicle and crash into a guard rail. During the crash no injuries were reported. No police report was taken and the vehicle was not towed. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer (lithia ford located at 501 mary jane wood circle, morgantown, wv 2650) who was unable to duplicate the failure and no service was performed. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The contact indicated that the vehicle was included in the nhtsa campaign number: 19v904000 (service brakes, hydraulic) but the parts needed to repair the defect was not available. The contact also indicated that the vehicle had experienced the same failure listed in the recall on multiple occasions. The failure mileage was 75,000.

While city and highway driving, vehicle wouldn't brake properly, brake pedal had to be pushed all the way to the floor, and still coasted to a stop, several times leaving me almost hitting the car in front of me as they slowed down or stopped.had front brakes replaced at dealer in november, then rear brakes, including calipers, in mid december, (12-16) still the brake pedal went to the floor.causing me to drive with extreme caution until i could take it back to the dealer for some answers.the dealer kept the car for 4 days, (dec 19-22) said it could possibly be the hcu pump and would be $1118.00 additional dollars.they replaced the hcu pump, they called and said the problem still existed, and the pump was defective, and replaced it again. Ended up costing $902.15 for the work.extremely frustrated, the problem with the brakes are dangerous.the car has 99536 miles, and i feel trapped because of all that led up to this explanation and expense.finally got the car back on december 22. Seems better, but not great at this short time i've had it back.

After a hard breaking on a slippery road on a city street at about 45 mph the brake pedal now goes way further down than it used to. Seems to have lost any effect for at least half its travel. Very scary the first time you notice it.

Abs computer got fried and needed $2000 repair.car has had intermittent hard brake pull to left since purchase in 2008.just had to replace front calipers and rotors at cost of $680.

After abs activates on slippery patches, brakes depress nearly to the floor and continue to require excessive pressure/force to begin stopping some time after initial abs activated, despite being on perfectly dry road. Problem eventually dissipates (usually after car is turned off/on) but will return the moment abs is reactivated. Had entire brake system including master cylinder inspected by ford dealer and no visible problems found. Referenced specific incident on patch of black ice on highway but has happened numerous times from speeds between 20 mph to 65 mph most recently on freeway.

Hydraulic control unit of the anti-lock braking system is not working correctly.

The contact owns a 2008 mercury milan. The contact stated that the brakes failed to stop the vehicle and the brake pedal traveled to the floorin addition, the brake pedal had to be pumped a couple of times before the brakes could function. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who stated that the brake fluid bled and the anti-lock brake system failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired; however, the failure recurred. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 125,000. Updated 05/10/17*ljupdated 09/15/2017

Brakes go out after abs incident. 3 times in one year. 1st time/ icy conditions traveling at 15 mph approaching red light, abs engaged, brake pedal lost pressure and stayed to the floor for 3 hours before returning to normal. Last month, dry conditions on main city road , 50 mph posted speed, had to slam on brakes go avoid collision. Abs engaged, lost all braking ability because of no brake pressure once again.brakes stayed out for hours, until minimal pressure returned. Replaced all pads and rotors, fluid, as well as master cylindar. 3 weeks later, dry pavement, mid turn (20 mph) lightly applied brake.abs engaged and lost all brake pressure again. Has been 3 days and brake pressure has still not returned. After much research this is a common and reoccurring problem for this vehicle and also the for fusion model. After spending a lot of money for repairs and replacements, tests, the problem persists and returns. I do not feel safe in this vehicle with this issue!!! my son and i have been put in severe danger three times now due to a malfunctioning abs/brake system!!!

I was driving on the highway and had to slam on my brakes to avoid another car that came into my lane improperly. My brakes engage properly at that moment but for the remainder of the thirty minute drive my brakes didn't engage properly. The brake pedal repeatedly went all the way to the floor and would not engage correctly.

I have had my brakes go very soft all the way as if i didn't have any stopping ability. This has happened several times at various times. I would approach a stop sign or light and when i applied the brakes, my brakes started to engaged but then went all the way back with no stopping. I saw the recent probe and would like to know if my car could get some attention as well.? i have also been stopped and my brakes would then go soft and my foot would go all the way back with the peddle.very scary - i would shift into neutral just in case my car wouldn't stay stopped.

After abs becomes active the brake pedal becomes really soft and have to push it to the ground to make the car stop. In order for the brake pedal to become normal again abs will need to be activated again somehow. Seems to be an issue accross all these style of chassis vehicles ( milan/fusion). It happens all the time.

After abs engaged unnecessarily the brake pedal is mushy and i have to pump the brake pedal to restore pressure to the pedal

When braking, i have to put the brake pedal to the floor and many times ended in the intersection while doing so.i have to pump the pedal 2 sometimes 3 times for it to stop correctly.the brakes thump also when i press the brake pedal.it is especially bad when driving in the snow and ice.this has been happening for some time and on the local news today, i saw that there is a problem with 2007-2009 mercury milan and ford fusion automobiles.

Abs system replaced pedal would go to floor many times.

Every time the anti lock brakes engage, the brakes go soft and to the floor. It is currently in the shop ( currently 10 days) and they can't seem to fix the issue. This last time i was driving about 35 mph and went to stop at a stop light and did not stop before it and went into the intersection. The brakes never regained hardness.

When my vehicle was in motion on a highway i applied the brakes to slow down the anti-lockbrakes system engaged due to the road conditions. This causes the brake pedal to have tobe depressed much further to stop the car due to decreased braking power.this condition of decreased braking power can last several days or weeks before returning to normal until the next time there is an abs deployment and then the reduced braking returns again.

On 01/05/18 i had to slam on brakes to avoid a car running a stop sign on a city street. The brake pedal vibrated-pulsed as abs system activated. Then the pedal went all the way to the floor and barely stopped before hitting the other car. Scared me bad! after, the brakes are very soft and pedal travel is definitely much more than before. This is dangerous and after a quick google i find this is not an uncommon problem. I have also noticed that the complaints concerning the abs system have a wide range of occurrences that seems not to be associated with mileage. I am the original owner and my car has less than 42,000 miles. I've seen complaints of this happening to cars with over 150,000 miles. That would seem to rule out the notion of worn out abs pumps. With a part replacement cost in the $600 range (not including installation) i can see why ford hesitates to issue a recall but a recall is what should be done. This is definitely a safety concern! i urge you to please see this trend that has been going on for way too long!

Soft brake pedal

After effectively deploying the abs, the brake pedal went soft requiring significant additional pressure on the brake pedal to stop. This happened twice. In each instance i was driving on a village street or local highway at a speed between 30-40 miles per hour. After the first incident, the brakes eventually returned to normal, within about a week. After the second incident, the brake pedal remained soft and i needed to take the vehicle in for a very expensive repair including a new hydraulic control unit assembly.

After an abs event the brake pedal is soft, mushy, goes halfway down, and pumps up. It seems like air is introduced into the system as bleeding the brakes fixes the low brake pedal. This has happened three times. I believe the problem to be in the abs controller.

I am [xxx] attempting to assist my wife's sister; [xxx]she has turned the car into her local ford dealer for repair and has been informed the parts will not be available until some time in the first quoter of 2021.she is 75 plus years old and has multiple medical issues requiring many visits to the doctor's office for specific treatments.she has requested a owner vehicle and has asked if she rented a vehicle would ford motor company reimburse her expense?both request have been denied. Had a very close incident while driving in hihesvill, ga.she avoided hitting a car in front behind the brakes failed to operate correctly.again:i am[xxx]information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).

When driving and trying to brake, the peddle goes all the way to floor & the car does not stop. This has happened on multiple occasions. Have almost hit cars & pedestrians. This is very dangerous and i do not feel safe at all when this happens

Loss of brakes when abs was active and hit a bump. This has occurred several times and each time the pedal goes to near the floor with greatly increased stopping distance.

The contact owns a 2008 mercury milan. The contact stated while driving 15 mph and approaching a traffic light, when depressing the brake pedal to the floor but failed to stop. The contact stated no warning light was illuminated. The contact stated he crashed into the curb and bent the front passenger side rim which blew out the tire causing the vehicle to be able to come to a stop. The contact stated the vehicle came to a stop. The air bags did not deploy. The contact stated he sustained injuries on both knees and his chest. The contact did not seek medical attention. A police report was not filed. The vehicle was not drivable. The contacts uncle towed the vehicle to the uncle's residence. The contact was able to replace both front driver and passenger tires, the front passenger side rim, and the motor mount. A dealer was not contacted. The vehicle was not diagnosed. The contact, later on, received notification of nhtsa campaign numbers: 19v904000 (service brakes, hydraulic) and 21v158000 (air bags), however, the part to the recall was unavailable. The contact stated that the manufacturer exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 169,000. Rec letter january2020 for vehicle, a valve in the hydraulic control unit of the anti lock braking system may be stuck open increasing the risk of a crash.i am afraid to drive the vehicle.i am requestinga rentalsince it has been over 6 months since i have driven my vehicle.

This is the second year in a row that my milan has lost all brakes after the abs was engaged on a slushy winter road. In 2016 my wife was driving and the car in front of her stopped abrubptly so she hit the brakes the car engaged the abs and the brake pedal went all the way to the floor. I took it to my mechanic he replaced the abs mpdule and everything was good until the day before yesterday. Again my wife was driving the weather got bad and the roads turned to slush. She says the car felt like it was trying to apply the brake while she was not. Then she went to slow down for a curve the abs engaged the pedal went straight to the floor and the car lost control. Slamming into the curb quite hard. Now i have to replace another abs module as well as have the car inspected for any other damage caused by the impact and possibly pay for that. Thankfully nobody was hurt in either of our incidents but this is a serious flaw in this car that can potentially hurt or kill people.

When braking over a speed bump, abs engaged unnecessarily. After which, in order to decelerate via braking requires depressing the pedal 3/4 of the way to the floor board. Once at the 3/4 position the brakes will engage momentarily then become "loose" once again, requiring the driver to depress the brake pedal 100% of the brake pedal's travel distance to the floor board.

The brake pedal needs to be pushed down to the floor; it is not safe. When taken to the shop, i found out that it's an abs pump issue. Upon searching online, it's a widespread problem with fusions and milans from 2006-08. The brake pedal must be pushed all the way down any time that braking is required. This is a major safety concern.

The contact owns a 2008 mercury milan. While depressing the brake pedal to stop the vehicle, the pedal traveled to the floor and the braking distance increased. Our 2008 mercury milan brakes are "soft" and hard to determine the actual stopping distance.the response is slow which requires pumping when trying to anticipate a stop.the fear is needing to make a sudden stop without warning.this appears to be a safety hazard and raise much concern.

Abs system fail.was in wet conditions and brakes failed. Every since the brake pedal will go almost to the floor. A couple of places have blessed the brakes but it doesn't fix the problems. Recently took it to ford dealership and they told me it was master cylinder leaking into booster. We replaced master cylinder and there was no fluid leaking so apparently they didn't know what they were talking about and have googled the problem to see the issue about the control module. My brakes are now worse than before and cannot drive the vehicle.

There have been multiple occasions where my brakes have gone "soft" while driving and i am trying to come to a stop. It has occurred on wet, icy and uneven pavement. I have to press extra hard on the brakes to be able to come to a complete stop. It is very scary and i am always afraid that isgoing to happen when i am faced with pavement that is not completely even or dry.

Trying to stop vehicle and pedal went tot he floor.have had the master brake cylinder, brake pads and brake booster replaced. Car still has a soft brake pedal that goes to the floor upon initial stop.brakes will pump up after a couple pushes on the pedal.may not have that luxury in an emergency situation. What else could it be?we have bled the lines and the master cylinder several times.

The brake pedal some times goes to the floor and doesn't work right until the switch is turned off and restarted.this is very dangerish and will cause an accident and some one will be kil;led

My vehicle has been the subject of two recalls with no action on the part of the manufacturer to fix the problems. On 1/21/20 i took the vehicle in to the dealer, hertrich capitol, 1127 south dupont highway, dover, de, because the brake pedal was soft. I was charged $58 for a brake inspection and was told they could not duplicate the problem. No mention of the recall or a fix was mentioned. Two recalls on this vehicle, for airbag and brake problems have been left unresolved for years.i am the original owner of this vehicle purchased at this location.

Brake failure.driving up a slight incline and slowing in preparation to turn left i pressed the brake pedal to slow down and the pedal went to the floor before the brakes engaged.i was on a dry fairly smooth road.

While traveling down a slight incline at 35 miles per hour the brakes did not engage. Trying to avoid a collision and attempting to stop the car by repeated and constant use of the brake, the brakes finally engaged. The pedal had gone all the way to the floor several times. The car was towed home.

When braking during slippery conditions i.e rain, snow, ice the abs system will engage causing complete loss of control of the vehicle. The brake pedal fully depresses to the floor until the vehicle comes to a complete stop, only then do the brakes finally release.

Brakes are excessively soft, but there is no air in the brake lines and no leaks.while driving straight on a city road, pressed brakes all the way to the floor, but the car did not stop; it just slowed, but would not entirely stop.this puts my life in danger.if i cannot trust my car to fully stop, it may roll into an intersection and be hit by crossing traffic, or i may rear-end another vehicle without being able to avoid the collision.

The contact owns a 2008 mercury milan. While driving at an unknown speed over a bump, the brake pedal had to be engaged with force to stop the vehicle. The failure recurred numerous times. The vehicle was taken to the dealer for inspection and the technician advised that the abs pump needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The vin was not available. The failure mileage was 54,000.

6 months ago i hit a pot hole while braking to make a turn. The abs engaged and the brake peddle went to the floor. I missed the turn. The brake peddle went 3/4 travel before the brakes would slow the car. After 3 days the brakes returned to normal.i brought the car to my mechanic and he couldn't find the problem. On dec 2, 2019 i was driving in snow and it happened again. After the abs engaged it took longer to stop the car. This time the brakes are not returning to normal. I am planning on changing the abs hydraulic control unit.

I have been experiencing issues with the brake pedal losing pressure or "going soft" after incidents of heavy braking.along with the spongy pedal, an apparent loss of braking power is now evident also.an occurrence of this problem happened once before about 2-3 months ago but the problem seemed to go away after several hours of the vehicle being turned off. The most recent instance happened a couple of days ago when i needed to brake quickly while driving on the interstate.i felt the abs system kick in and the vehicle stopped. However, during the heavy braking the pedal traveled much further than normal and afterwards much of the effectiveness of the pedal was lost.the braking system remains in this state at the time of typing this.after doing some internet researching, i have found that many other milan and fusion owners have experienced the same problems with their vehicles.i have consulted with the local ford dealer as well as ford customer service, and both have stated that they have no knowledge of prior problems like the ones i have described.i have an appointment to have the brakes inspected by the dealer on 1/4/17.

When abs activates the brake pedal goes soft and does not recover. Pedal travels to the floor, causing delayed braking and more force to apply brakes.this has happened when braking on ice and over rough road surfaces.this has occurred 5 different times since 2013. Four of those times required dealership repair.can no longer be repaired without costly replacement of hydraulic control unit.

When applying brake pressure and hitting a bump in the road, the brake pedal lost pressure and went to the floor. The brake continued to travel to the floor over the next several attempts to stop. The brakes recovered after the car had sat idle for a few hours.

This is the 3rd time this problem happened during the last year. While driving at approximately 30 mph on a city street, approaching a stop light or requiring to "hard" stop with traffic, my brake pedal went down completely to the floor, and in a somewhat slow down, taking about 2-3 car lengths to come to a stop, it would come to a stop. I pumped my brakes to try and make it stop sooner, and get a little resistance. On 2 occasions, i know i was traveling over a manhole cover "while the brake was on" and then no brakes. I took it, on 3 occasions, to auto repair and they find nothing. No lights come on, no signals on the dashboard. This is very disturbing because they have given my car a "clear" bill of health. My vehicle is equipped with an abs brake system. You can feel sort of shake as soon as it starts. Receipts are attached from each incident.i have noticed this is an "extended breaking distance" in an open investigation on this site.please...this is very dangerous. The dealers should have a recall.thank you.

Abs failure happened a 5th time, and this time it spun my car into a power pole. Was only going 35-40 mph, driver came from the left and i tried to veer and brake to avoid them, pedal went to the floor and one wheel locked and spun the car. This needs to be recalled. Ford saying it was not an "unreasonable safety risk" is not acceptable. Ended up with a shattered pelvis, broken clavicle and ruptured spleen. I do not want this happening to others, please be careful with these cars! *dt*dtconsumer authorized ford powertrain control module data readout.*dt

David mcdavid plano said no replacement air bags are available and nonchalantly said its only lawyers drumming up business.

After a car pulled out in front of me i was forced to slam on my brakes. After this incident, during which time abs did activate, i had very little pedal. I brought my vehicle into a local repair shop and the cause was determined to be (incorrectly) the master cylinder. The brakes were also bled and the abs system scanned, but the problem persists.

I experienced exactly the same situation as numerous other drivers have reported: in july 2018 i was traveling approximately 50 mph on a county road. I began braking to stop st a red light, while braking the car went over some rough pavement and immediately the brake pedal went soft and went all the way to the floor. The car stopped in time but the effort required to stop was much greater than usual and the car only barely stopped in time. After i stopped and began driving the brakes returned to normal. But needless to say i am quite wary and not confident in the braking safety of this vehicle. If this had been an emergency braking situation the result could have been catastrophic! this situation must be adressed by ford as a recall immediately. 1,000's of these vehicles are in the road and it's only a matter of time until a serious injury or death results from this malfunction.

I was in motion on a city street, and when was nearing a stop sign i pressed the brake. It started out tight, then slowly went to the floor. I was told by a repair shop the problem is with the abs system, and is very common in this model.

Several factors:9 months after purchasing new, accelerator stuck and was not part of the floor mat recall, dealer brushed me off. In oct/nov 2015 braking system failed, mastercylinder had a crack in it and fluid was empty, this was at 62,000 miles. Yesterday brakes failed again, shoes/pads worn out, hub/rotor dented, bearings replaced, and was told not to drive until repaired, 64,000 miles currently on car. Also, the interior controls on the dash are starting to come loose from dash. I worry about my safety every time a drive this car. The outside looks great. I am the original one -owner. Very upset to be spending so much on a low mileage car. I have all my receipts for work performed. Informed corp. Ford yesterday and got a i'm sorry from dorothy. Vehicle was in motion on city streets each time of occurence.

The contact owns a 2008 mercury milan. The contact stated that while driving at 25 mph, the brake pedal was depressed and travelled to the floorboard without any warning. In addition the vehicle stopped independently. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the abs pump needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 164,000. Vin was not available. Updated 03/16/17*lj

Recently, if the a bump in the road is hit while braking, the brakes will "go out" and must be pushed to the floor before the car will stop. This greatly increases stopping distance and poses significant safety concerns. After this occurs, the brakes return to normal after being "pumped up". This has occurred 6-7 times over the past few months and is becoming much more frequent. I read very similar accounts in the complaints section but i do not see where an investigation has been opened regarding this. It appears that multiple people have had their master cylinders replaced without resolution of the problem. The consensus seems to be a malfunction of the abs which is a very costly repair.

The contact owns a 2008 mercury milan. The contact stated that while the son was driving at an undetermined speed, the brakes failed to operate when pressing the brake pedal causing the vehicle to crash into the rear of a second vehicle. During crash the air bags did not deploy. No injuries were reported. A police report was taken at the scene and the vehicle towed away. The vehicle was examined by an independent mechanic who diagnosed that the abs needed to be repaired. The contact was informed that vehicle was included in nhtsa campaign number 19v904000(service brakes) but the parts needed to repair the defect were not yet available. The contact indicated that the vehicle had experience the same failure listed in the recall. The manufacturer and local dealer keller brothers lincoln located at 1030 schaeffer rd, lebanon pa. Were notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 80,000.

While driving if hitting a speed bump, pot hole, or something similar the abs would kick in. This would cause the brake pedal to be pushed all the way to the floor before the brakes would engage. The last time this happened was just driving and came up to the stop sign and the abs acted as if it kicked in and had to push the brake pedal all the way down. Normally after turning the car off and back on the brakes would go to normal, but has not this time. Changed the brake pads, front and rear, the master cylinder, and still no improvement. After reading that there was a recall on other years for the abs, found that the abs is the problem with mine as well. Have recently read that other vehicles are having the same problem as mine. Abs kicking in for no reason and not having brakes until the pedal is completely pressed to the floor. This started happening since i hit 80,000 miles and now have 89,xxx and it has recently gotten much worse, unable to drive the vehicle and unable to afford to fix it.

Purchased the 2008 mercury milan used in 2011. First experience with anti lock brakes, so the first time on wet pavement approaching light and the brake pedal jiggled when being pressed, concerned the car would not stop. Brake pedal from that incident stayed low for a couple of days, but then returned to normal position when pressed. This issue occurs when pressing brake over potholes, in wet conditions. Unfortunately, this recent episode has lasted for more than 10 days which caused me to take car to dealer repair and to do research which led me to enumerable complaints about this vehicles defect. I have read post of those who have spent over a thousand dollars to have repaired and still experience the problem, we are a one car family and i am not in a financial position to invest money and not get the results of having resolved.this issue (abs) regarding the 2008 mercury milan is unacceptable and there needs to be a recall on this matter.

The contact owns a 2008 mercury milan. While driving various speeds, the steering wheel seized and the vehicle shuddered. The contact stated that the vehicle stalled and completely shut off. The vehicle failed to restart. The contact also mentioned that the brake pedal traveled to the floorboard when the brake pedal was depressed. The dealer was not contacted. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The vin was not available. The failure mileage was 75,000.

After an abs-assisted braking maneuver on snow/slick road recently, the brake pedal had no pressure "went soft," and required extraordinary pressure to activate the brakes. I have to press down to the floor of the vehicle hard to activate the brakes. There is no resistance on the brake pedal. The vehicle has 116,000 miles currently. The same incident occurred in february 2015 when the vehicle had approximately 102,000 miles. Dealership performed abs bleed twice which provided some boost to braking system, but not complete braking recovery. Brake pedal still feels soft. Mechanic recommended new hydraulic control module for $800 (part only)! very expensive repair that may be susceptible to year over year scrutiny due to irregular road conditions. In both instances, the vehicle was in motion and an attempt was made to brake on a slick, snowy, city road at no more than 15-20 mph. One instance was a left-hand turn and the other instance was traveling straight.

I was driving in a residential neighbor going around 25mph, i began to slow down to drive through slight dip and then attempted to brake harder to make a turn. At that point the brakes failed immediately and i was unable to turn, i have to circle the block and push the pedal into the floorboard to get any response from the brakes. My children were in the vehicle and it was terrifying and highly dangerous to not only myself and my passengers but to others on the road. Look around the internet and there are many people who have experienced this problem, both on mercury milan and on ford fusion. The problem seems to be a faulty anti lock hydraulic control unit.this problem has been known to nhtsa, ford motor company and others since at least 2012; mechanic has fixed several of this specific part and says he continues to see this piece of faulty equipment in ford products, specifically mercury and lincolns.

No brakes after abs comes on during driving on slippery roads or wet roads. Pedal goes to the floor. Will not reset. All of the brakes and calipers have been changed or checked. Have to pump to have brakes to get pedal to be able to stop.

During normal driving conditions, at a speed of approx 35 mph in dry weather when my son pushed the brake pedal to come to a stop the abs system kicked in and acte like in wet /slippery condition and the brake pedal went all the way to the floor. Car slowly come to a stop. After that he drove home slowly, but could not duplicate brake issue again. This happened in november 17, 2016 and since than the brakes seem to work ok.

I received a letter from ford on 1/31/20, informing me that my model car has a safety recall because a valve in the hydraulic control unit of the anti-lock braking system may be stuck open.on 8/10, i called the ford dealership in my area and was told that the parts to correct the problem were not yet available.i'm greatly concerned about the safety of driving my car under these conditions.isn't 7 mos. Long enough for ford to have come up with the necessary parts?

For several years, i have not been able to trust my brakes. If i hit a bump i will lose my brakes, and have to keep pumping them the get them to stop. If i hit another bump, it seems to put them back to normal. However, over the course of the last 2 years my brakes have gotten steadily worse. At this point, they do not want to stop me at all.01/19/2021 i almost had a serious accident driving down base(a country road), i was driving around 35 miles an hour but was slowing down because i knew the stop sign was up ahead.i came to the stop sign and had no brakes. A car was coming and i kept pulling the steering wheel to the right and i was finally able to get the car pulled to the side of the road.by a ditch. No one was hurt luckily, but it could have been much worse. My brakes have been recalled, since january of 2020 and i have had problems with them since 2017. But no one could figure out what was going on. I do have the documentation from don meyer ford showing where i took my brakes in explaining that my brakes were bad. They explained to me the cost of getting new brakes but also told me that i would have to pay and then i may get reimbursed or i may not. I do not have that kind of money to pay for new brakes at this time. Not only do i drive this car back and forth to work, i raise my granddaughter who also rides in this car with me. Please see attached invoice from where i had my brakes checked, also first recall date jan 2020 and second recall dated oct 2020. I do have a case # that i filed with ford motor company it is cas-283-77206 and i talked to ron. I called to see if i replaced the brakes would i be reimbursed, and was told probably not. This is my only mode of transportation.any help would be greatly appreciated. I am also attaching the service billing from where i first told them about my brakes and both recalls

On 12-23-2016, involved in a car accident. Going down a slight hill while it was snowing. Couldn't get the vehicle to stop. Pumped on the brake and it wouldn't catch . When i got to the stop sign i pressed down on the brake and the vehicle slid through.

If the brakes are ever hit suddenly, the brake pedal goes all the way to the floor the next time it is used.braking happens but only when the pedal nearly reaches the floor.this change in pedal location with no warning is very dangerous.the brake will re-set after some time, ranging from a few days to up to a month.i had the brakes servied (all wheels). My mechanic tested the abs sensor and said that was not the problem. He was unable to diagnose the problem.

Vehicle went over a slight bump when braking and the abs engaged for a second or two.the brake pedal went to the floor and had to be pumped very hard to get the vehicle to eventually stop.the brake pedal remained very soft and close to the floor thereafter.the brakes would work, but the pedal was not nearly as responsive as before the incident.the dealer found no codes triggered, replaced the rear calipers, added brake fluid and bled the brake system.the pedal was a little more normal and the brakes worked.the same thing happened again about 6 months later.this time the dealer said there was a code triggered that said the abs control unit needed to be replaced at a cost of about $1,200, and the master cylinder may also have to be replaced at a cost of about $350.i did a google search to see if other owners ofmilan's or tauruses reported similar problems and found many complaints about the same thing.this is a serious and expensive safety defect with these vehicles.is there any hope the manufacturer will pay for the repairs?

05/16/12 i was driving at 30 miles/per hour, the brake pedal suddenly went to the floor without any signs in advance, i couldn't stop the car. Luckily it was where i worked. I pulled to the parking, stopped it with the help of the curb. Checked on the spot, it seems low on brake fluid, we added fluid, pedal seemed fine for couple of months. On 07/31/12, two months after the first incident, driving at the speed of 50, the same thing happened again. Couldn't stop the car, the brake pedal went to the floor. Luckily there is a garage by the side, pulled in and checked. Finding out the mass cylinder disfunction. Spend over 600 got it changed. Now i am scared, don't know what to do? sell the car? ( which i cant afford now) or waiting to be killed in the car or kill somebody else?

Nhtsa recall number19v904 recall statusrecall incomplete, remedy not yet available summary on my vehicle, a valve in the hydraulic control unit of the anti-lock braking system may be stuck open. Took it to the north park lincoln dealer on 23 apr 2021 andthey don't have the part for this recall. Said my inspection for this recall failed and they notified ford. It's been over 60 days and i am still waiting on this part. My car is not safe to drive as my brakes are very low and its taking longer to slow the car down so my car is basically not being used for fear that the brakes might go out. No one seems to be able to gove me an answer as to when this recalled part will be in. I received the recall letter from ford telliing me about this recall but letter also said the parts were available and that is why i took it to the dealer. Now im being told still on backorder no idea when part will be received. This causes a problem for me if i can't really use this car because of the safety risk this may result in extended brake pedal travel required to stop the vehicle, increasing the risk of a crash. There are no warning lights yet displayed.

Brake pedal is extremely soft and requires pressing almost to the floor for the car to stop.changing pads and rotors, replacing brake fluid, and bleeding brake system does not help.

The front brakes need frequent replacement.the brakes pedal has went to the floor while driving and trying to stop.i was traveling around 45 mph on a rural road.pumping the pedal returned braking power.the car seems to take longer to stop and the brakes are unreliable.

When trying to stop the vehicle and pedal went tothe floor. Have had the master brake cylinder, brake pads and brake booster replaced. Car still has a soft brake pedal that goes to the floor upon initial stop. Brakes will pump up after a couple pushes on the pedal. May not have that luxury in an emergency situation.

Like in a recent nhtsa notice, my brakes went soft when braking on on uneven pavement on a city street and i continued into the intersection before stopping.no accident occurred.i pumped the brakes several times and the brake pressure returned though felt soft the remainder of the trip of 10 miles.this accurred in november of 2016.i got a brake job from the ford dealer following this incident.i was getting close to needing a brake job anyway.after your recent notice i'm concerned that the issue still exists and can reoccur.

During a recent snow storm, the ant-lock brakes engaged after which the brake pedal lost 3/4 of its travel and became soft and squishy with brake engagement occurring near the bottom of brake pedal travel.before the anti-lock braking event the pedal had normal, firm brake feel.

The contact owns a 2008 mercury milan. While driving various speeds, the brake pedal was engaged, but the vehicle failed to come to a complete stop. The brake pedal had to be depressed with force in order for the vehicle to stop. The failure was experienced numerous times. The vehicle was taken to richard bazzy's shults ford lincoln (10401 perry highway wexford, pa 15090, phone: 724-934-2388) where it was diagnosed that the anti skid system needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired.the manufacturer was not notified. The vin was not available. The approximate failure mileage was 85,000.

The contact owns a 2008 mercury milan. While driving 30 mph over a bump in the road, the brake pedal was applied; however, it was soft and traveled to the floorboard. There were no warning indicators illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who stated that the master cylinder and abs pump needed to be replaced. The dealer and manufacturer were not contacted. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The failure mileage was 124,000.

Brake pedal is soft. When braking , the brake pedal go almost to the floor. Car does stop but it is slow to stop.

The brake pedal went soft as my wife was driving the vehicle on a snowy city street on her way to work. She was able to stop eventually but the stopping distance needed was greatly increased. Scared her to death. We took it in to a ford dealer (bill brown) and it was diagnosed as having a faulty abs system and needed the hcu module replaced to the cost of $1459.48. We inquired if there was a recall on such a dangerous issue as this. They looked it up and from there was no recall. We were outraged by both the danger of the issue and the cost of the replacement. We do have a repair invoice #583098 from bill brown ford in livonia mi. But i have no way to scan it electronically and upload to you.

The contact owns a 2008 mercury milan. When the brake pedal was depressed, the pedal traveled to the floor and hesitated to respond. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 65,000.

In oct .2015 i had to slam on brakes for emergency stop. After continuing on the next time i applied brakes, the pedal went to floor. I pumped pedal till i had brakes but next time pedal went back to floor. After gettingto my stop i shut engine off and car sit for approx. 20 minutes.restarted and brakes worked normally till may 15, 2016. Car was driven on freeway till i exitied. Pedal then went almost to floor, not slowing. I quickly had to pump pedal to stop car. Drove to closest ford dealer and explained my delima. Brake fluid level was checked and found normal. Service dept. Was closed so i restarted car and brake pedal operately normally.car has 81000 miles. No doubt this will happen again. No clue why ???

Brakes suddenly softened after sliding on icy roads. Fits description of january 2020 recall on this vehicle. Days later, brake pedal continues to travel near floor when braking.

2008 ford milan. Consumer writes in regards to safety recall related to brakes on vehicle. *ldthe consumer stated the manufacturer exceeded a reasonable amount of time discovering a fix for the recall repair.

The contact owns a 2008 mercury milan. When the brake pedal was depressed and the abs was activated at various speeds over gravel or bumpy roads, the pedal would lose pressure and travel to the floor without warning. As a result, the vehicle hesitated to stop. The contact mentioned that the failure recurred intermittently. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that an unknown module and pump related to the braking system failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 70,000.

Driving car down hill slowly (20 mph) while raining in city, as i slowed down to the stop sign the traction control came on and the break pedal went all the way down to the floor and i could barely stop, had no control, almost caused in accident on a very busy street. After that the pedal goes all the way to the floor when i stop. Tried bleeding brakes 2x but nothing changed. Since this occurred i've been close to being in 5 accidents due to the brake/traction problem. Unsafe to drive

The recall 19v904 has been unresolved now for 16 months. My brake pedal must be pushed all the way to the floor to stop the vehicle. My tags have been expired for 11 months because i can't pass an inspection. I have no other option but to drive the vehicle to work and now i'm paying tickets for expired tags. Ford is worthless to speak to about it.

After an abs event (braking in snow) , the brake pedal sank to the floor, repeatedly sinks to the floor and will no longer stop the vehicle safely. This is the fourth occurrence of this malfunction. Previously brake pumping or bleeding restored normal operation. This time required service from my certified mechanic, who diagnosed a failed hydraulic control unit of the abs system.

I received a recall notice in january 2000 recall #19s54/nhtsa recall 19-904.i have called numerous times to have this recall corrected on my car and i called again this week january 2001and they still do not have the parts to correct the problem, in think this to long they tell me another 3 months before they can fix the problem. They did tell me they could fix it however i would need to pay for it.i feel waiting a year and 3 months to correct this problem is unheard of.i have over $800. That i have already paid to correct the problem. My brake pedal and gas pedal are the same position and need to be very careful driving this car what ever help you can give me is welcomed[xxx]information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).

After emergency braking on the freeway to avoid an accident, asb engaged, and ever since the brakes have to be pushed all the way to the end for brakes to engage, pedal is spongy and despondent.

Twice in the last month my wife or i have experienced the same problem with the brakes. The problem is intermittent. Twice when approaching a stop sign at speeds between 20 and 30 mph and while braking and hitting a bumpy road section ( heat causing asphaly to form bumps at intersections)the brake pedal went too the floor and became quite unresponsive. We live in a rural area. In my wife's case she eventually stopped 3 or 4 feet past the entrance to the intersection. Fortunately neither time did we have an accident. The first time i took it to my mechanic. Who pulled all 4 wheels and found the brakes operated properly with no signs of overheating of the brakes disks, pads or calipers. In my case the brake only actuated , and was soft, well below the normal brake position. I pumped the brake 3 or 4 times to get the brake back to its normal braking height. The fluid level in the brake resevoir was between min and max. Within two weeks the same thing happened to my wige. I checked the brake fluid. And it was normal. My mechanic had no idea what was amiss. I googled "brake pedal sometimes goes to floor 2008 mercury milans" and found a number of similar experiences by other. I called my ford dealer and he looked up any recommendations by for and found none. The threads on the various forum point to a problem with the abs system. Ford does not seem to acknowledge the problem yet there seem to be numerous instances

The brake pedal goes to the floor when it is pressed. This happens under normal driving conditions, city and highway. The master cylinder was replaced (twice) but the condition has not changed. This has been happening for a couple years, at all speeds, weather conditions (dry to wet).

Recall announced over 8 months ago'- multiple statements about repairs / fraud dates listed many times /dealers blame ford /my cars brakes are defective . No care about our safety .dotdoes not seem to follow / demand a fix .almost like their attention to the early takada issues . Cc: minneapolis tribune /new york times exec consortium .

Had to replace the abs hydraulic control unit.previously when the abs triggered the pedal went soft and the braking forces was significantly reduced.braking returned to normal after the car was shutoff for an hour or so.

The brakes failed.driving the car at about 35 miles per hour on a suburban street that was dry, coming down a hill when i needed to stop for a yellow light the pedal went to the floor before engaging the brakes.

Issue: brake pedal goes soft - requires full press to floor board in order to stop. Frequency: occurs all the time (under normal driving)dealer diagnosis: failing antilock braking system (abs) hydraulic control unit (hcu).dealer recommending replacing both units.

The contact owns a 2008 mercury milan. While driving, the brake pedal would occasionally travel to the floorboard when depressed. As a result, the vehicle was unable to properly slow down or stop. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that the rotor and pads needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired, but the failure recurred. The contact was concerned that the failure was due to an abs failure. The manufacturer and dealer were not contacted. The approximate failure mileage was 120,000.

The contact owns a 2008 mercury milan. While depressing the brake pedal, the pedal was very soft and had to be depressed to the floorboard in order to stop. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that the master cylinder needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired; however, the failure persisted. The dealer was not contacted. The manufacturer was not notified. The approximate failure millage was 48,000.

The brakes were spongy, i call ford several times about this and it was ignored i replaced breaks still didnt help and then my son was in an accident and i had to pay out of pocket to repair my car cause i didnt want to claim on my insurance in fear of it going to increase my premiums however my ins did cover the person that was hit , on highway and i just could break no matter how i pressed down on the break it just wouldnt, i so afraid it was not going to stop and the boom the other car was hit

After i had a hard stop in the rain. Brakes now go to the floor and was told be local mechanic that my abc pump has malfunctioned and need replacing.

During several abs incidents, the brake pedal goes to the floor; does not return to normal driving, appears to be an issue with the hcu unit or the abs brake control module.

Takata recall: received a letter in july 2016 for this recall.no movement from ford.they have been contacted twice. Second concern:"soft brakes"the peddle has too much play and is a concern for stopping distance.called ford and they stated my vehicle not included even though i am experiencing the problem with my brakes.

Brakes were applied hard to avoid dog running out in road, after this happened the brake pedal sinks to floor then brakes suddenly slam on when pedal is almost at the floor.you have to pump the brake pedal to get normal pressure for one stop.fuse was removed for abs pump and brake pedal returns to normal height and brakes work normally without abs help.when abs pump fuse is replaced brake pedal goes soft again. Has been an ongoing problem for several months.

I have an issue with my abs pump that almost caused me to have a collision several times. I have almost hit people in the rear and i have ended up in the middle of and intersection twice! my mechanic says the issue is the abs pump bypassing and the new part is around $700!! you hit the brakes and the pedal hast to go to the floor before the brakes engage. Very dangerous!

While operating vehicle at 35mph in wet & cold weather conditions i approached a stop sign at a left curve in the road on a city street and began breaking. I believe the abs activated and i felt my break pedal pulsing and suddenly without warning my break pedal became soft and i depressed my break pedal to the floor in order to stop the vehicle. The vehicle did not come to a stop until 3 car lengths past the sign. After this my pedal never recovered and i had to pulse my break pedal to stop the vehicle. I took the vehicle to the dealer for service and was informed my abs module failed. I had no warning or prior indication and at no time did any lights appear on the dash display. I had no leaks of break fluid and recently had all 4 rotors and pads replaced on the vehicle.

Upon braking while driving over uneven pavement or loose gravel, or while accelerating through a turn, the abs [or traction control] malfunctions causing the brake pedal to sink to the floor and the braking distance to be dramatically increase.this has occurred four times now, twice with my children in the car, and the last time nearly had me get into an accident. While driving on the freeway at 55-60 mph, the vehicle in front of me had to brake suddenly due to a merge in front of them. I hit the brakes as normal, about 50% pedal depression, and the car started braking normally until it passed over a small patch of loose gravel on the freeway, at which point the pedal sank to the ground and the vehicle no longer proceeded to slow down. I had to veer to the left, nearly colliding with the center median and ended up passing the car in front of me because of the braking distance increasing. I have had this issue looked into and even a tech at the local ford dealership says that it is a faulty abs hcu (hydraulic control unit), and that the valves sticking in the hcu cause the pressure to go into a semi-infinite loop instead of exiting out back to the calipers. This causes around 80% of the hydraulic pressure to be wasted, and braking requires depressing the pedal nearly to the floor. The tech admitted that there are new hcus available that do not have this problem, and there is a potential recall pending. The tech instructed me to remove the abs fuse as well as the abs pump fuse, which stops the problem from happening. I have confirmed after 10,000 miles that with the abs fuses out, the problem does not occur.i have contacted my attorney regarding this issue and am waiting on said potential recall for a repair to my vehicle.

I have had the brakes repaired on my daughter's car twice in one year. She can no longer drive the car because the brakes are so bad. The recall was almost a year (dec 2019) ago and i'm still waiting on this part. We haven't been able to drive this car since 08/2020 due to the difficulty with stopping. Now inspection is due and i still can not get the brakes fixed in order to get the car inspected and pay for the taxes/registration. What do i do?

I was driving in the snow. I went to apply my brakes that where working as i began to stop the abs kicked on and i lost brake pedal pressure. Now i can no longer get brake pressure but still have brakes.

While coming to a stop under normal conditions, the pedal drops to the floor as if there is no brake pressure. Braking only occurs when my foot hits the floor. This happens after an abs event like going around a rough corner while braking. This has happened in the snow, rain, and in dry conditions. It is inconsistent but happens the same way every time. Sometimes normal braking returns but sometimes it can take up to 10 minutes for returning brake pressure. It has caused several near accidents and i no longer trust the vehicle.

I received a letter in the mail stating that my car has a recall on it.

The contact owns a 2008 mercury milan. The contact stated that while driving 40 mph on a wet road and attempting to brake, the brakes failed to respond. The vehicle slid in the road until it came to a rest. The vehicle was towed to a repair shop where the contact was advised that the master cylinder was defective. The vehicle was repaired however the failure recurred. The vehicle was taken to dealer where the master cylinder was found defective a second time. The current mileage was 103,000. The failure mileage was 100,600.

When driving down the highway when i press the brakes quick and fast it will engage and start working. When i slowly press the brakes they do not engage until the brake pedal is almost to the floor. I have almost ran into the back of many people. As i see on the internet 100s of people is having this issue. So why haven't a recall been done yet? i guess someone important have to get killed by this defect in order for the federal government to make this issue known and do a recall quick! its now safe at all and i don't think the car owners should have to pay for this problem. My car only have 74,900 miles on it!!! someone please give me a recommendation @ [xxx].information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).?

Soft brakes. Brake pedal goes all the way to the floor trying to stop the car.next morning it is okay. This has happened a few times already. Local shop found nothing wrong but indicated it could be possible antilock brake malfunction.

After an antilock brake engagement, the pedal goes all the way to the floor, essentially giving you little to no way to stop the vehicle

When traversing over a speed bump, abs was engaged unnecessarily. After which, the driver is required to depress the brake pedal 3/4 of the brake pedal's travel distance to the floor board in order to initially engage braking. Once at the 3/4 position, braking then becomes "loose" and therefore requires the driver to depress the brake pedal the remaining travel distance to the floor board. This has lead to a major deterioration in braking performance as a result.

Abs hcu bypasses after abs event and doesn't reset causing brake pedal to go to floor and increased stopping distance

Traveling on a two lane road i was stopped in heavy traffic for a red light. When the light turned green after traffic began to move congestion caused traffic to stop again. When i proceeded to brake the brakes didn't engage until the pedal was completely to the floor. I pulled over and parked in a safe area and called for a ride. Once the car sat for several hours it was driven home without incident.

Everytime i hit a bump the abs kicks on and my brakes will not work.brake pedal goes all the way down.my car has been to the dealership many times for this problem.i have spent about 1500 dollars and still have this issue.they have even told me that there is nothing wrong.my car is unsafe! now they are trying to chargeme 1000 dollars to replace the hcu.after looking this up it turns out this is a very common issues with 08 milians. I am at my wits end with this. Ford needs to recall these cars.it gives the driver no warning that the brakes are going to fail.

My abs light has been on ever since i had to slam on my brakes. Both of my front tires locked up almost causing me to rear-end someone on the highway. The pedal felt weird but it could still stop. My abs light is still on.

Something is wrong with the abs system and there hasn't been any recall. There have been many instances where i applied the brakes and the pedal went all the way to the floor while the car kept moving. I was driving about 30 mph towards a stop sign and when i approached it i hit a small bump in the road and my car went flying through a busy intersection. Luckily it was late at night and nobody was out but normally the intersection is busy. On another instance, the brakes did the same thing, this time near train tracks. Somebody is going to get killed while trying to brake! ford needs to recall these cars before something bad happens.

Today, 2/7/2017, i was driving at about 30 mph on a very wet and bumpy city street. I hit the brakes and the peddle went to the floor without stopping the vehicle. I had to use the hand brake to assist with stopping. I took it to the lincoln dealer who reported there are no recalls or service bulletins despite the ongoing nhtsa investigations, making it clear that even when confronted with an investigation, ford is unwilling to voluntarily notify customers or repair documented recurring problems.this same problem occurred in july of 2016 when braking hard and starting to turn from high speed to make an expressway exit on dry smooth pavement, 400 miles away from home. In that instance, my mechanic, not affiliated with ford, had to bleed the brakes multiple times to get the pedal to respond. Prior to that in december of 2015 i hit the brakes over a pothole at about 35 mph on a city strett on a clear dry piece of pavement and the pedal went to the floor. That first time however the brakes reset after i parked the car for an hour and came back to it. So in all three instances the problem was consistent with the nhtsa investigation opened at the end of last year. No accident, no injury in any of the three instances. Just a dilemma of how to get the vehicle home and repaired.

The contact owns a 2008 mercury milan. The contact stated that when the brake pedal was depressed, the vehicle hesitated to stop for an extended distance. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where the brake pads and rotors were replaced but the failure continued to occur. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 120,000.

The contact owns a 2008 mercury milan. The contact stated that the brakes malfunctioned while driving on the highway and the deceleration was not normal. The dealer diagnosed that the hydraulic unit needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 102,000.

Driving along today and came to a red light. Had to stop and suddenly the brake didn't work like it normally did. Had to step on the pedal all the way to the floor to stop. Almost hit the car ahead of me. Braking was the same for the next 4 miles till i got home. Had to step on the pedal all the way to the ground to stop. The low brake fluid light came on the dash. After parking the car i checked out the brake fluid reservoir and it was empty. Filled it up with dot 3 fluid and came back about 10 minutes later and there was a puddle under where the brake actuator is.

When car is in motion and abs braking is activated due to braking on gravel or slick roads, the brake pedal goes soft and to the floor.braking ability is greatly reduced requiring you to rapidly pump brake pedal to regain some hydraulic pressure.

Approaching a stop light my vehicle crossed a rough patch of road while applying the brakes. When i hit the rough spot my brake pedal went to the floor and vehicle was no longer braking as intended. Vehicle speed was approximately 45 mph at the time of the indecent. The loss of brakes caused me to rear end the vehicle in front of me. The problem has now become intermittent but seems to be related to the abs and occasionally the brake pedal will go soft and feel as if there is little to no response from the brakes.

When abs system engages the car fails to recover. Brakes do not respond, pedal hits floor before stopping. This started at about 80,000 miles. The vehicle now has about 100,000 miles and it has happened about 6 times. Most times the car recovers on its own within 24 hours (usually within 2). This time it has been 3 days, the car will not recover on its own. No codes are generating. No lights are on. The car thinks it is functioning properly.

When abs system goes off because of slippery or uneven surfaces when braking the car loses brakes and cant stop on time..pedal goes to floor..had on fender bender because of it on 376 in pittsburgh

On my way to work yesterday my anti-lock brakes kicked in while braking on an uneven/rocky piece of road.immediately thereafter, my brakes went completely soft.i have push the brakes down almost to the floor in order to get them to engage at all. I proceeded onto the highway not knowing that anything was wrong and the first time i tried used the brakes i nearly slammed into the car in front of me.i contacted ford about the issue today, and it appears that this is a known defect with the brakes on my model of milan (as well as fusions from the same year), and they made no offer to correct the issue.

Brake fluid leaks through the abs master cylinder and you have to pump the brakes to get it to stop. A animal ran out in front of me and i had to put on my brakes hard to stop and the pedal went to the floor and i had to pump it to get brakes. It was on a dirt road. I've had the car diagnosed by my mechanic!i have been to the ford dealership 3 times and have a letter in january stating the problem and have not gotten anything done!!!

After abs engaged (seemed unnecessary) brake pedal goes low and stays low. Car still stops ok but pedal requires long stroke to develop stopping power. Brakes engage at proper height, but braking force does not increase until pedal near floor.

During an abrupt stop from 40mph abs was engaged.afterwards, the brake pedal was spongy and sank to the floor with almost no reaction from the breaks.it was only possible to safely stop at speeds below 20 mph.the master cylinder was replaced, and the issue was fixed, but after about two weeks, the brake pedal became slightly spongy after a hard stop that may have engaged the abs.

Brake pedal loses pressure making it hard to stop vehicle.i had to replace the abs control module.

I applied my brakes to make a turn on an uneven street and next thing you know i have soft brakes and have to pump my breaks 2 or 3 times to stop. This has been an ongoing problem 2016. How many more complaints are needed before there is a recall on the hcu unit that every one keeps mentioningalso...when will the passenger air bags come in for repairs

On october 1st 2019 i was driving on a main road and slowing down to turn right onto my street when i felt the anti lock brakes kick in.when i went to slow down at a stop sign i realized i had lost brakes and the pedal was to the floor. I was almost to my house so i was able to pull it in the driveway with just knowing i'd have to start braking further away or use my e brake.i have aaa so they came and had it towed to a mechanic where they stated the brakes were fine and couldn't find anything wrong. They bled the brake lines and flushed them and freed up bleeders.they said everything was working as normal again.well i was driving again yesterday (november 14,2019)on the exact same main road and slowing down to turn right onto my street again and felt the anti lock brakes kick in again and once slowing down that the stop sign noticed the brakes had gone again. I called up a mechanic who stated they won't look at it because with it happening in the same manner it sounds like a ford issue and that it needs to be seen at a dealership. The dealership wants over a $100 to just look at it and can't get me in for 5-6 days.i've seen that this is an ongoing issue and accidents have occurred and a re call really needs to happen before someone dies from this. It's ridiculous honestly.

On 10/26/16, the brakes on my mercury milan locked up and the car would not stop at an intersection on rout 23 north in cedar grove, no, causing me to crash into the car in front of me who had stopped at an intersection. I was going approximately 10-15 mph. My car was totaled in the accident. Wie had just started to go as the light had just turned green. The crossing guard on duty saw me trying to stop the car but the brakes had locked up. My milan was in pristine condition at the time of the accident but was totaled in the crash.

Yesterday was a wet, rainy day.i braked coming to a stop light, but hit a pothole just after touching the brake.my brake pedal suddenly became "soft", meaning that i had to depress the pedal to the floor in order to stop safely.i've read similar complaints from other people.

The contact owns a 2008 mercury milan. While driving at approximately 15 mph, the brake pedal was depressed but the vehicle failed to stop. The contact pumped the brake pedal multiple times until the vehicle stopped. The failure recurred multiple times. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic and the master cylinder was replaced, but the failure recurred. The vehicle was taken to the independent mechanic and the abs system was replaced, but the failure recurred. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 36,000.updated 7/29/15 updated 10/17/2017

I read on google news feed on 12/20/19 ford was issuing a recall for certain ford and mercury vehicles, one of them included was our daughter's 2008 mercury milan.didn't think a whole lot about it, until she called me 3 days later panicking that she tried stopping for a light that was yellow and she didn't get stopped until she was in the middle of the intersection.thankfully, she got it stopped without an accident and no one was hurt.i immediately remembered the recall i had just read about and compared her issues to the article, sounded very similar.we immediately stopped driving the vehicle and called our local ford dealer.upon inspection, they agreed it sounded like the recall problem.but, it was still an advance notice of the recall and they didn't have the parts to fix it, it may be until late in the first quarter of 2020.so, here we are, over a month later, car still sitting in the driveway, not able to be driven.i am beyond frustrated, no one can supposedly do anything.the dealer won't just make the repairs until they get official notice from ford and then work out the reimbursement with them later.

After my antilock brakes turned on my pedal became spongy. This has not resolved it self

Vehicle had good brakes till about 100,000 miles. I eventually had to travel in snow and when abs activated, thereafter, the brakes were sinking to the floor. Randomly a few days later they returned to normal. Now, this past winter i hit some ice again and the abs activated again and the brakes have been permanently sinking ever since..as i have read this problem is not just an unfortunate event but a common issue.

The contact owns a 2008 mercury milan. The contact stated that that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle loss braking function without warning. The failure recurred five times. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who stated that the vehicle was included in nhtsa campaign number: 19v904000 (service brakes, hydraulic) and referred the contact to the dealer. The vehicle was taken to fred beans ford located at 1939 lincoln hwy, langhorne, pa 19047, where the dealer confirmed that the vehicle was included in the recall. The contact was informed by the technician that as per the manufacturer, the part was not available. It was suggested by the technician to the contact, to pay for the part and to be reimbursed in six to eight weeks for the repair. The contact stated that she could not afford to pay. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 120,000.

There is a serious issue with the brakes going out after the abs is activated. Anytime the abs is activated there is a brake loss for a long period of time.the other day i lost my front brakes after the abs went off on a snowy day. I slid through an intersection with just the rear brakes. I had to drive home with just the rear brakes in the snow. Please note that the master cylinder is full. The brakes did come back to normal a day later. Although this happen again after the abs went off. This is a very dangerous situation. I hope that ford is concerned about safety and will take care of this problem soon. I always thought that antilock brakes were designed to keep us safe and not put us in a dangerous situation.

The car would not brake correctly. It slips while getting off the highway. It would not brake.

Was breaking on an icy surface. Abs worked fine. Afterwards break petal went almost to the floor. Now break petal goes to floor in order to stop.

The first time i lost the brakes i was going through a roundabout when i had to slam on my brakes to avoid hitting a car that pulled out in front of me.as i deployed the brakes, i hit a pothole which caused the abs to activate.the pedal went to the floor and i had to quickly change lanes to avoid an accident.it took several hours for brakes to return to normal.the second time, i slammed on my brakes when traffic came to an immediate halt.i had plenty of time to stop, but again when the antilock brakes were activated, i lost pedal and had to go into the median to avoid rear-ending the car in from of me.again, several hours later the brakes returned to normal.i was able to create a similar scenario to show my husband just by slamming on my brakes at the end of our neighborhood where sand laid on the asphalt.he bled the brakes and the problem appeared to be resolved, but unfortunately it was not.the last time it happened, my 19 year old daughter was driving it.she lost pedal after antilock brakes were activated and, being a new driver, clipped the vehicle in front of her.fortunately no one was hurt and we were able to resolve the accident without involving authorities.after this i have not allowed her to drive the car and it sits in the garage as we debate fixing the cosmetic damage due to the brake problems.the date below is an approximate date of the first time it happened.the last time it happened was in august 2016.it has happened approximately 5 times through the years, but has been few and far in between since it is not often the abs is activated.the only time it has been driven since august was to take it through emissions.

Driving after it rained over night, the car in front of me braked suddenly. I hit the brake hard enough to trigger the abs system but my car would not stop. I was able to swerve off the road but when i tried applying the brake the pedal went to the floor and softened. I put the car in park and turned it off. When i turned it back on, the pedal was still soft and required i brake a great distance in advance. I had to get the car towed because i could not drive like that in traffic during rush hour.

"takata recall"in the last 1 1/2 year i have spent $1500 in brake issues. Brake pedal just goes soft. This is within the last 7000 miles that i have owed the car. Current miles 68,000.

I purchased my car in 2009 used at 25,000 miles. I am experiencing trouble with my master cylinder. As i went over a pothole and pressed on my brakes, the brake pedal went all the way to the floor. I took my car to a mechanic and he stated it was the master cylinder. I had my master cylinder replaced and i am still having he same problem. An ambulance stopped in front of a car ahead of me and i had to slam on brakes, the pedal went all the way to the floor. I went back to the mechanic and he stated the master cylinder was brand new. He told me to look up to see if there is a recall on the brake system.thank goodness i have not experienced an accident yet.i wanted to have this on file....updated 12/03/15

For several years i have not been able to trust my brakes. If i hit a bump i will lose my brakes, and have to keep pumping them the get them to stop. If i hit another bump it seems to put them back to normal. However over the course of the last 2 years my brakes have gotten steadily worse. At this point they don't want to stop me at all.01/19/2021 i almost had a serious accidentdriving down base(a country road), i was driving around 35 miles an hour but was slowing down because i knew the stop sign was up ahead.i came to the stop sign and had no brakes. A car was coming and i kept pulling the steeringwheel to theright and i was finally able to get the car pulled to the side of the road.by a ditch. No one was hurt luckily, but it could have been much worse. My brakes have been recalled since january of 2020 and i have had problems with them since 2017. But no one could figure out what was going on. I do have the documention from don meyer ford showing where i took my brakes in explaining that my brakes were bad. They explained to me the cost of getting new brakes but also told me that i would have to pay and then i may get reimbursed or i may not. I don't have that kind of money to pay for new brakes at this time. Not only do i drive this car back and forth to work i raise my granddaughter who also rides in this car with me. Please see attached invoice from where i had my brakes checked, also first recall date jan 2020 and second recall dated oct 2020. .

I went over a bump and hit the brakes at the same time and the next time i hit the brakes, the pedal went all the way to the floor before even beginning to slow the car down.i've had the pads, rotors and drums replaced and had the break lines bled on more than one occasion.at one time, just repeatedly pumping the brakes would bring them back up but now that no longer works.my mechanic has done as much as he can but says the next thing is replacing the abs but he doesn't feel that is going to make a difference as he's done research into the issue and it appears that even those owners with the same issue who did have more expensive repairs done were still left with braking issues.this car has been at my mechanic's shop for 3 weeks because i'm concerned about driving it.it has now become a major safety issue for myself as well as for other drivers on the road.i've checked the recalls and it doesn't appear that there is one for this particular issue; although i've read hundreds of similar complaints.i am now stuck with a car that cannot safely be driven.although i've noted the date to be june 2015, that is approximately the first time i had this issue.## vin passed ## 2008 mercury milan ##

The contact owns a 2008 mercury milan. While driving 25 mph, the vehicle failed to stop when the brake pedal was depressed. The contact had to steer into a curb to stop the vehicle. There were no injuries. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that the abs pump needed to be replaced. Dorian ford (35900 gratiot ave, clinton twp, mi, 586-792-4100) was informed of the failure and the vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 65,000.

I received a safety recall notice (19s54) in january 2020 for my 2008 mercury milan.this notice indicated a potential issue with the brakes on my vehicle.i am experiencing a problem exactly like what is described in the notice, and have been having this issue for a long time (years).the official notice from ford/lincoln indicates "parts are anticipated to be available late first quarter 2020."we are well beyond the end of first quarter 2020, and i have heard nothing further regarding the issue.our family is less than comfortable continuing to drive the vehicle, so this information is sorely needed.it also reduces the value of my vehicle to have an outstanding recall with no known remedy in sight.i would request nhtsa intervene and require ford/lincoln/mercury to provide, at a minimum, an update to customers.if ford is able to continue producing new vehicles and selling them, that is clear evidence that the covid-19 pandemic is not a valid excuse for no action on this issue.

As i was driving my vehicle, there will constantly be a loss of braking pressure in the brake pedal during my daily travels. At times i would hear the air huff as i broke into slowing down my vehicle or having to make a complete stop i would have to switch lanes to decrease my speed if possible or begin to break serval cars away to come to a complete stop because there was a lack of brake pressure . I was only informed of this recall last year in november after driving the vehicle for serval months. After months of contacting serval dealerships and consistently being told that the part was not available. Or being directed to the manufacturer for answers to still to be told to contact the dealers again to no avail there was still no parts made available. It has been a constant worry on the safety of my life and those who enter my vehicle. There has only been one moment while driving my vehicle where i felt immediate danger. While driving on the highway when traffic came to an abrupt stop and the only way i did not crash my vehicle going at 45 mph was by swerving into the next lane to slow down. This should not be a continuous issue when the safety of not only myself but other drives on the road at at stake.

Several years back, i had a near failure of my brakes when rolling down a hill toward a right turn at the bottom.( i think in retrospect that because of my hitting some bumpy patches on the turn lane the brakes attempted to actuate abs). I had sufficient braking, pedal to the floor, to roll to a stop. Popping the hood, i found the cap on the brakes fluid reservoir was ajar. I refitted it and found that the brakes worked normally. (in retrospect, i do not believe that a "failure" occurred in the reservoir cap, but was instead a consequence of other malfunctions in the system. Some time later, i had another failure, which nearly resulted in a crash. I limped to garnet ford, and had repairs done, totaling about $1200. The cautionary i received from the service rep was foreboding: replacement of the master cylinder may not fix the problem. They then claimed that the repair was sufficient. (in retrospect, i should have been at the least taking this action then and there: an automobile with only 35,000 miles on itought not have dangerous and defective brakes). Last month i had to have brakes repaired, as a result of problems stemming from my wife driving the vehicle, and experiencing much the same thing as had occurred to me the first incident. Front rotors and pads were serviced, but that did not fix the problem. Now my abs warning light is intermittently on, and i am getting a roughness to braking as if the front brakes are worn down: they are not. I am returning to the mechanic with this problem. I do not know what the outcome will be, but it is suggestive of a built-in defect, which is tremendously hazardous, and irresponsible of ford to ignore this defect.

After front brake pad and both rotor replacement, the vehicle brake pedal had excessive travel to near the floorboard.braking was degraded with a slight initial pull to the right followed by straight steady stop, but with more pedal pressure and travel than normal... Almost like no power brakes.the ford dealer (see attachment) performed an abs test after pad and rotor replacement, thus activating the hydraulic control unit, which, if you study the schematic, will place one or more valves in the hcu in bypass mode to allow wheel rotation, thus preventing a skid and wheel lock up.the problem with this is, the valve(s) in the hcu can stay partially open (due to age, debris, old fluid, lack of abs events) and now you will have degraded brake performance.the dealer will be glad to sell you a new hcu at a cost of $800 to $1000.[xxx].if the hcu is that finicky, then it should be the subject of a recall and ford should be responsible for parts and labor.this is a safety issue.i have restored the hcu valve(s) to a seated position by rapidly and forcefully tapping on each valve outlet/inlet with the handle of an adjustable wrench with the engine running.almost immediately, pedal travel lessened, and what appears to be normal braking with power assist returned.get on ford's ass and hold their feet to the fire on this braking issue, lives are at risk here!parts of this document have been redacted to protect personally identifiable information pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).

The contact owns a 2008 mercury milan. While driving 25 mph, the brake pedal traveled to the floorboard when depressed. The vehicle was diagnosed as needing the hcu replacedthe vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 63,000. Updated 06/08/17*lj*as

When approaching a red light while coming down a hill there was initial response when the brake pedal was pressed. Then there was no braking for the 2/3's of the travel then there was braking again at the bottom of the pedal travel. Braking force was significantly less than normal. Pulled of the road and shut off the car. When started again the brake performance was normal. This has happened twice - about 3-4 months apart. It has been to an independent shop and the dealership and neither were able to replicate the problem or definitively come up with a fix.

The brakes failed to stop the vehicle in a safe distance.occurred on multiple occasions during a moderate to hard stop.breaks and system have been inspected and mechanic does not find any obvious issues.breaks are "soft" and take a half second to engage when foot is applied.this has been a problem for over a year.

Brakes are very spongy in all actions. The brakes have been bled, have new brake pads and there are no leaks in the system. I have read other mercury milans and ford focus have the same problem, brake pedal going too low to the floor board. I feel that this could develop into a future safety problem. Thank you for your attention in this matter.

2008 mercury milan. Consumer writesin regard to nhtsa safety recall 19v-904.the consumer requested to be reimbursed for repairs madeto the vehicles.

Over the past year there have (4) instances where it seemed as if the brake pedal was going clear to the floor.the last incident was near xmas in 2009.

Both incidents, resulted in an accident.

Frame rail corrosion, noticed by dealer while having other recall service performed, they took photos since they hadn't seen this on a milan, fusion, or mkz. I am now concerned with the car's safety.

Takata recallrecieved recall notice on july 2016 as of this date still no parts. Recieved letter november 2017 no passanger to ride in front passenger seat.my vehical was in a car accident in december 2017 and the on the drivers front fender, the airbags did not deploy. Was not sure if they were supposed to.the car slamed into another cars back bumper on the other cars left side. It slid due to road conditions of weather. It was at 3pm on a road with 35 mph speed limit.the other car was turning without a turn signal.we had the car repaired through our insurance at state farm. $4000 damage.

Driver's door handle broken on inside of vehicle.seems to be a common problem with ford fusion and mercury milan models from 2006 on. Plastic handle breaks and you cannot exit the driver's door unless the door is opened from the outside of the vehicle or through another door. In the event of and accident the driver could become trapped in the vehicle.

The interior door handles snap in half easily and cause the door to not lock automatically. When the first door handle broke (front, driver side) it took me about a minute to figure out what had happened and how to get out of my car. If it would have happened in an emergency situation it could have been a major problem. After the second handle broke (front, passenger side) i discovered that pulling back on the lock mechanism will open the door. The dealership told me to keep my receipts because this, according to them, is a chronic problem with the milan and the ford fusion. Thankfully, i was just getting out of my car to go to work, but had i been involved in an accident i could have potentially died because of the faulty door handle.

Both interior door handles on the driver's side of the car have broken in the same manner (bottom corner), and the handles won't retract.doing internet searches, other people have this problem too with ford fusion, mercury milan, & lincoln mkzs.see picture at link below.https://www.flickr.com/photos/gtppilot/sets/72157607539089979/the driver's door handle won't lock anymore.ford says this hasn't been recalled.both handles broke within 2 weeks of ea. Other.the back door is rarely used.the door handles were not aggressively opened - just normally opened.this happened when the car was stationary in a parking lot.

On the inside door handles they are covered in chrome. The passenger side started to bubble up. Not sure why, because i mostly only use the driver side. Anyhow, the other night i had my cousin riding with me and when she grabbed the door handle the piece cut her finger. It had somewhat pealed off and sliced her. No other door handle has done that just that one. I was wondering what i should. Its a safety issue for anyone who grabs the handle. I am not even sure how or where to fix it. Any help would be appreciated!

Investigation pe16017 extended braking distance.i was traveling on a busy four lane road following a suv.a traffic light was coming up and what should have been more than plenty of braking room was not.when i applied my brakes they felt soft when i knew i wasn't stopping i yanked into the other lane cutting off another car going the same direction. My brakes finally stopped my carjust short of going intothe intersection into oncoming traffic. I avoided not hitting the suv because of my quick thinking and reflexes; however, i was feet from a possible life threatening accident.

The passenger-side dashboard under the airbag has begun to warp.the dealership is unable to repair and has indicated that the airbag "should" deploy in a crash.the dealership also stated that the airbag shouldn't deploy in normal driving conditions.the reason they said they couldn't repair is that they couldn't guarantee the airbag would deploy in an accident.

On 12-23-2016, involved in a car accident. Going down a slight hill while it was snowing. Couldn't get the vehicle to stop. Pumped on the brake and it wouldn't catch . When i got to the stop sign i pressed down on the brake and the vehicle slid through.

Takata recall

When going down to cincinnati, ohio, shortly after i purchased my mercury milan, in september 2010, i had a flat tire outside of akron ohio.(the car only had 3,000 to 4000 miles on it when i bought it & was kept in a garage during the winter, driven only in the summer months here in michigan.). I had to purchase a new tire while in ohio and also purchased a warranty (lifetime) on all the other michelin tires.between then and now, i have had no less then 15 to 20 incidents where the low tire pressure light comes on. I have never received a notification from the manufacturer, even though there has been one recall and three service bulletins issued for this vehicle. One of them involves the tires. My vehicle now has 32,000 miles on it and i am told i will be needing new tires shortly. How could this be? i've never had a vehicle that i only got 32,000 miles out of the original set of tires. I'm now suspecting that its possible the tires are leaking air due to the valve stem on the tire itself. I'd like to know why i've never received any bulletins or notifications on recalls. The problem lies either with the manufacturer of the vehicle putting poor quality tires on the vehicle or with the tire manufacturer. I'm on disability and cannot afford new tires. The car has only 32,000 miles on it & is driven gently. I certainly will not be buying michelin tires ever.one other thing, 2 of the wheels had corrosion ground off them in hopes that the tire would fit better, however, this has not solved the problem.where does the problem lie? i was told by discount tire that it's simply a matter of economics that manufacturers made the decision that it's "quantity over quality" when putting tires on new cars. In other words poor quality tires are put on new cars?? apparently, this is the case when one needs to buy new tires at only 32,000 miles.

The car has a defective throttle body actuator which is causing the car to have no acceleration or unexpected acceleration at various times.

Re-tested. Problem. Installed new accelerator. Re-test. Problem. Codes appearing. I contacted ford motor co. In michigan.told to keep calling dealership.

My mercury milan is less than a month old. I was driving on a secondary surface road.i accelerated to pass another car, suddenly the car began to accelerate on its own. I applied the brakes they wouldn't work.i pulled the emergency brake up.it would not stop the car.i continued accelerate.i was heading into heaver traffic.i was lucky enough to pull on the shoulder and in order to stop the car i had to shut the engine off.i started the engine now that i was in park and the engine raced.i shut the engine off again.this time it was normal.i was towed to the dealer and the car was examined extensively.nothing was found.

I lost ability to accelerate at a normal rate leaving me at risk in intersections and at risk of being rearended.no accident happened but one could have.

Vehicle began to accelerate on its own, could not stop until she struck the two parked vehicles.

The following check engine codes appeared: p2104, p2112.the throttle body has to be replaced.
