Takata recall was received from ford motor company in july 2016. Called last week regarding parts for repair and they have no idea when this will be available. I feel this is very unsatisfactory considering the age of the car and the possible devasting nature of injuries if the airbags would explode and the fact thattakata has filed for bancruptcy. Will they ever get fixed or will ford compensate us?

When we press on the brakes, we need to press very hard all the way to the ground. We pull over and turn vehicle off and restart it. This has helped in the pass but no longer, we are afraid to drive it. We have taken to a few garages and said brakes are fine. Today it's at a ford dealer being checked out. This is our daughters car for college she is terrified to drive it, she said it really doesn't want to stop, and getting much worse. Your help in this matter is very much appreciated. This happens on back roads at stop signs and red lights. Also getting off highway when i had to make a sudden stop. This started in april of 2016 and getting worse.

Takato recall, i have called the dealer several times to get thisairbag taken care of, and i just get the run a round, saying they don't have repair parts in yet, yet i was sent a letter saying don't let anyone sit in the passenger seat, this seems like a problem to me.what can be done?

My mercury milan, i started noticing multiple problems of my air bag back in 2010, that as i first start the car, that the air bag light on the control panel would be on, after about 15-20 minutes it would then go off, but now on all the time due to a module under the passenger seat. The 2nd problem is of my transmission, while in traffic, alot of stopping and starting, i noticed my transmission seems to slip out as if i'm in neutral, i've seen there was a recall or talk of it for this problem of some of the newer models, but the year for 2007, there is nothing for it, so this problem started well before the years that were listed, this concerns me as if i needed to move out of the way for some odd reason, specially while having family in the car, there'd be now way of doing so quickly if desired, and would absorb an impact of any .so the 2 items listed concerns me as a consumer for "safety reason" specially when driving my children or grandchildren with me.

Takata recallthere has been no update in the last year since the recall was announced, regarding replacing the passenger airbag in my 2007 mercury milan. The stitching (or whatever material is used) has started to disintegrate on the passenger side dashboard, where the airbag is housed. I've been hoping the recall would have been completed before now, so i wouldn't have to have the car taken in twice to be fixed: once for the deteriorating dashboard around the passenger airbag, and a second time to have the airbag replaced when the partsfor the recall become available. I'm very concerned to keep driving the car, and also for the resale value, if i wanted to sell the car due to this issue still not being resolved.

Takata recall : i have been driving around for years with these dangerous air bags in my car. The parts are still not available for the recall and now takata is going bankrupt, i am afraid they will never get replaced. This is an unreasonable amount of time to wait for a very serious recall and an unfair position to put people in. I am afraid to bring passengers into my car because god forbid something should happen. So i have a car that i cannot put anyone into? this isn't right! it is causing me mental anguish and making life very difficult because no passengers can safely be in the front seat.

Ford is taking its time with replacement parts. What happens if somebody dies in the process of waiting?

Air bag is coming apart it looks like it's about to deploy. Brakes keep freezing up. When it's cold outside and when it's hot outside. Changed cold and spark plugs both times spark plugs and coils were burnt at the end and some type of gook was on the ends that both shops said they never saw before.

I have been to the ford dealer in ocala fl yesterday @ they would not talk to me @ this matter needs fixed what gives the ford motor company ways to push me away as they don't care i'm upset about the recall matter with my vehicle i just want to know i'm driving a safe car today so now i want u all to give me some answers to all of this@now

Ford just notified me that there is a safety recall notice 21s12 / nhtsa recall 21v-158 for the driver's side airbag.the answer to "what is the risk?" is: "if an airbag inflator explodes, sharp metal fragments could strike the driver or other occupants causing serious injury or death."and, yet, "ford has not issued instructions to stop driving your vehicle..."however, they do not have replacement parts yet for this vehicle at the mechanic shop that i have used for many years!my complaint is that i am now afraid to drive this car, my main source of transportation as a retiree widow.in addition, i am at a loss as to why this airbag was not replaced when the passenger side airbag in these vehicles was replaced back in 2018.i am just lucky that the airbag was not deployed when i had a front end collision in late 2012.i am asking that these parts be made available asap because frankly, i am disappointed in ford's response once again to this very serious situation.there is no longer any excuse for it.

Takata recalli have tried to have two different ford dealers in my area make the necessary repairs or replacement of my airbags after receiving notice from the manufacturer (ford) but have repeatedly received delays first on the claim that parts for my car were not yet available and, after notification from ford that they were available, that priority was being given to those who had elected to rent replacement cars---which i did not do because they would only pay for one month and i was advised that i might have to rent for many more months. The dealerscannot tell me when the needed work on my car might be made. I now suspect that they never intend to make the necessary repairs. I, therefore, urge that nhtsalook into this situation and advice me what to do. Thank you.

Takata recalli was notified in the fall of 2016 that my vehicle has takata airbag inflators that have been recalled. I called my local ford dealer ( klaben ford in kent, ohio) to schedule a repair. I was told that parts are not available & i would be notified when parts are available. I called klaben ford on 10/25/2017 and was told againparts are not available. Why after 1 year ford can't find replacement parts? i believe ford has no intention of replacing the inflators. What action can be taken to get ford to honor the recall?

My [xxx] vehicle is under two recall notices.one is for faulty brakes, the other for a faulty driver's side airbag.i believe the nhtsa needs to carefully consider the consequences of this combination of defects.right when you need the abs protection the system could fail potentially causing a crash and airbag deployment.this could kill the driver and others in the car.unlike the passenger side airbag recall, this deadly combination renders the vehicle unsafe to drive.recommend nhtsa order fomoco to provide suitable alternate transportation to affected car owners until recall repairs can be effected.information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).

Takata recall. Recall issued june 1, 2016, as of october 20, 2017, still no remedy per web site and the dealer i called. This is a potentially life threatening defect and a remedy should have been found by now.

The breaks when stopping the car continue to go ford ward and sometimes when stop you can feel air pushing down like it doses want to stop.

I got a airbag recall letter in july-2016. Since than i had contacted the dealers (north park lincoln, red mccombs ford, mac haik's southway ford)several times but all the time i hear that "parts are not available". It has more than a year and still not sure when my car's airbagwill be fixed.

I have received notification of the takata recall from ford motor co. Unfortunately the 2007 mercury milan is used to carry children in the front and rear seats. However, the recall notification states explicitly not to allow passengers to use the front seat. This makes the car unusable. Ford needs to provide a car or means to rent another vehicle until the defective and unsafe air bag has been repaired. There are no other means of transportation available and this vehicle is necessary to transport children in affected seat. Which ford motor co. Has instucted not to use.

Takata recall:since the airbag recall i have continued contact my local dealer regarding the availability of replacement airbags. It has been recently brought to my attention that takata continues to deliver airbags to all larger dealerships nationwide. The dealership in my area have placed the order twice for a replacement but the manufactures continue to decline the order. My last check with the dealership was october 8, 2018 and i was asked to please continue checking. At my last contact i was informed to please check again in november which is drawing closer to the end of the month. My due diligence is running out and i have no complaint with my dealership and understand that takata has much work left to complete. All lives matter when it comes to remaining safe on the road during travels. The wait period needs to come to an end as it has been far to long to have issues corrected. When i received the first recall notice i did not hesitate to contact to dealer. It seems that the recall issue needs to be handled in a more efficient and effective manner. Safety is always a concern.

The dealer said that the module needs to be changed and if that does not fix the problem, then the seat railing needs to be changed out. Paso robles ford wants approximately$1000 dollars to fix the problem. This is a safety item which ford should recall and pay for. The vehicle only has 40,000 miles on it.

Takata recall i was notified of the recall several years ago and attempted to have the inflators replaced or repaired at that time. Since mercury had gone out of production, i was referred to a ford dealer, but when i contacted the nearest one (in woodbridge virginia, i was told that parts for repair of my vehicle were not yet available and i would have to wait but that , in the meantime, i should not drive my vehicle which was totally impractical since the date of arrival was unknown. I was never notified that the parts ever came. When the ford company finally notified me that parts were available about a year ago, i contacted another dealer--also in woodbridge--- but was told that i would have to wait as preference was being given to people who had decided to rent cars (for which they had to pay after 30 days). I agreed to this but, again, was never notified that my turn had come. I can only deduce that the ford motor company and/or its dealerships were not honestly attempting to make the required repairs a nd they have, therefore, never been made. Fortunately, since the mercury is my primary vehicle, i have never stopped driving it and there has been no problem. In today's washington post, i now see that the recall program is reportedly being managed by nhtsa, so i am bringing this situation to your attention. According to the article, the ammonium nitrate which powers the airbags can deteriorate over time. If this is so, i would think priority for repair would be given to older cars first, and since mine is now 11 years old i should have been notified to bring it in to a dealer who would promptly make the repair. I would think your agency would be aware of this problem, but if not, i would appreciate it greatly, if you would now investigate and correct the situation. Thank you

Now since you no longer have the equipment to replace my airbag on 2007 mercury milan now i want to drive safe so are you willing to give me money that i've spent on my 2007 mercury milan to get a vehicle that has no recall so i can drive safe today cuz i've had at 4 times a very close call an head-on collision now i want some answers today cuz i want to drive safe today ok my friends i'll be waiting.

"takata recall" july 2016 ford sent me a letter that the passenger airbag inflator is defective and they will be letting me know when to take it in to get it replaced. Received a letter today ( 1 and 1/2 years later) from ford that they are still working on the problem and when and if they come up with a fix they will let me know when to get it fixed. They also stress that no one should ride in the front passenger seat as they can be injured or killed by the airbag if in an accident. The only thing they forgot to mention is the trade in value of the vehicle is none. It is an unsafe vehicle so the dealers can not resell it so they don't want it as a trade.ford should be made to either buy back the vehicle or tell their dealers to give a special trade value. I am stuck with a car that i can not trade in and i can not let anyone ride in the front passenger seat. Ever try going on a date and she has to sit in the back seat? i guess ford is telling us not to allow anyone in the front seat so when someone gets killed they can say they told us not to sit there. Vw got the royal screwing because of the diesel rigging and they were made to buy back the vehicles or give the owners money. Nobody died from that screw up. Ford is getting away with murder.

Takata recalli called gallagher ford in elko,nv, for free replacement.they say they have no replacement parts.

I was informed of the airbag recall (causing serious injury or death) over a year ago. I have called my ford lincoln mercury dealership, where i bought my car, every few months for an update on whether the parts are estimated to arrive. I have never been given an estimate on when the parts will arrive and have never been provided with a solution to my issue. I would like to get this fixed before it hurts or kills me or anyone else that may be in my vehicle. I do not want to wait until there is an accident to file a lawsuit or wait another year or two for a resolution.

Takata recall - received recall letter june 2016...parts still not available october 2017

Takata recall. I first received notice of the recall in june 2016. I checked again today and found that the recall notice is still there, but as in last summer, there is still no remedy available. I spoke with a dealer in the area and they confirmed that there are no parts yet available and they don't have information available when the parts will be available. I recognize this is a sizeable recall, but it also seems that a year is a long time to wait for repair of such a potentially hazardous part.

The vehicle was restarted and taken to a dealer for diagnosis. The dealer informed the contact that the distributor shorted out causing it to melt and spiked voltage to the power train control module destroying it. As a result, all the distributors and the power train control module needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. Also, the dealer stated that the manufacturer had developed a kit to help resolve the failure in the power train control module. The failure and current mileage was 107,000. Extended braking distancethis is now the second time this has happened to my car, the first time was last winter. It was a little slippery on the roads so i was not at all going fast, coming to a stop sign in my neighborhood braking, the antilock brakes kicked in, made a little noise, i stopped and then went on my way. The next time i came to stop after that i could barely stop and had to press my foot to the floor to do so. It was like it wanted to stop at the normal time but then released a little to have my foot go all the way down to then stop. I took it to the local neighborhood auto place, and they didn't know what it could be but they bleed the brakes and did something else that actually fixed it. Fast forward to this year december, same thing, turning into a store parking lot, so again going slow, slippery out, anti lock brakes kick in. I didn't think anything of it because the car had been fixed last year. However, when i went to park i almost crashed right into the front of the store because i was not prepared to not stop on time. I was able to stop finally, scared to death. Took it back to the same place they still can't figure it out and tried what they did last time but it didn't work. Around this same time i came across the article about the investigative recall about this very issue, forwarded it to the lincoln mercury dealership i got my car from and was told yes they know what it is and have had to repair several already this winter but since it is not an actual recall i would have to pay to get it fixed. It involves the hci (hydrolic control unit) and eci (electrical control unit). So now i'm stuck, still scared until this recall happens or until i can come up with the $900+they say it will cost.

Issue with driver seat power switch/motor. Driver seat only moves back not forward making it difficult to reach pedals.

The contact owns a 2007 mercury milan. The contact stated while traveling approximately 35 mph, the vehicle began to lunge forward without warning. The vehicle was taken to a private mechanic who diagnosed that six ignition coils, six spark plugs, and the dc computer needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The vehicle was repaired but did not rectify the failure. The approximate failure and current mileage was 33,000. Updated 6/10/14 maupdated 08/20/14

The vehicle jerked while on a state highway repeatedly until i was able to pull over and then it failed. Found out that the ignition coils had completely burned up, which i was told by the dealer is very unusual. Once the ignition coils were replaced, they determined the pcm(computer) had to be replaced. Keep in mind that my vehicle had been in the repair shop 4 times before regarding my radio after they replaced the radio 4 times, they realized that it was also the pcm that caused this problem. Every problem that i have had has been electrical. Electrical problems are not easy to determine prior to it happening like if it were mechanical. I have fought with ford over and over and they will not take responsibility for the defects in this vehicle. No one should have to replace a radio four times and a pcm twice in four plus years. This is ridiculous!

I was driving in town at around 30mph. My abs warning light came on. The car started making a strange noise. Then when breaking the back breaks seemed to be trying to lock up. Then the passenger airbag warning light came on. After this happened all my gauges including my speedometer, blinkers, headlights, rpm, etc. Became inoperable. I am not able to drive the car at all due to this issue.

Air bag is coming apart it looks like it's about to deploy. Brakes keep freezing up. When it's cold outside and when it's hot outside. Changed cold and spark plugs both times spark plugs and coils were burnt at the end and some type of gook was on the ends that both shops said they never saw before.

Incident occurred as driver of mercury milan 2007 awd premier vehicle was driving on the highway at a speed of around 50-45mph. The car began to shudder and vibrate. Vehicle dash lights and engine cut out completely in the middle of driving, driver managed to make it safely to the side of the road. Car was towed to nearby auto service facility. Upon inspection the pcm module was found to be defective. The pcm module shorted out all 6 ignition coils and dumped fuel into the cone of one catalytic converter stopping it from working. Further investigation showed that the pcm module is a documented problem for a variety of makes and models of ford/mercury cars. The pcm module was also on backorder from multiple locations. The mechanic also made extensive inquiries about the current pcm module and the backordered pcm (with new drivers and programming). The mechanic was informed that placing the old pcm in the car would result in similar electrical components being compromised because of the faulty version of the pcm. Total bill resulted in $3600, gross safety hazard for the car shutting down on a busy highway. It is my hope that ford begins to evaluate this as an issue and push it to the recall list before someone gets seriously hurt. Lastly, the back ordered part meant the car was not available to drive for over a month.

Battery died in my 2007 mercury milan.after replacing the battery the throttle body malfunctioned.car would not accelerate and check engine light is on.

Brake pedal switch would malfunctionand car would lock in park and had to replace 2016 cost - i don't have this receipt handy at this time. Today replaced throttle and an ignition coil this date. Car would stop accelerating when in motion when driving in a straight line and loose power and have to pull over and shut off and restart and then more time to start. Repaired today cost over $1100.

Incident occurred on 7/12/2014 while driving 2007 milan premier at approximately 50-55 mph in process of negotiating an interchange of two interstate highways . The car began to shudder and vibrate violently. Vehicle dash lights came on, there was a loss of power steering, the engine cut out completely and the steering locked up in the middle of driving. Driver, driver managed to get the car to the side of the road, but only after a near miss by 2-3 tractor trailers. The car was towed to an independent mechanic for evaluation. There were no prior indications of issues, and car had undergone a 90,000 mile evaluation at an authorized ford dealer 7/2/2014, about 10mday prior to the incident. The independent mechanic is stating that the ignition coils burned/cracked and that a new computer, plugs and coils would be required. He also stated that ford is aware of this problem an has been extending the pcm (computer) warranty to 80,000 miles. Found out that the ignition coils had completely burned up, which i was told by the mechanic that this is very unusual. Although we will be out over $3,000 we are lucky that our kids were not splattered on the grille of a tractor trailer. Articles researched and technicians contacted thus far seem to contradict that this is a rare occurrence.

I won a 2007 mercury milan with a 3.0l dohc motor. I was turning onto the road i live on, started to accelerate, and it started spitting and sputtering. It felt like it was running on only a few cylinders. We had the computer scanned, and replaced the two coils that it claimed were the issue. Drove it down the road, and it still did the same thing. We then took it to a local automotive electrician, who told us that one of thecoils we didn't replace (which never showed up as bad) melted so badly, and shorted out the pcm. He replaced a few more coils, the pcm, had the computer flashed/reprogrammed. I've read all over the internet that this has happened several times with this same motor, and i'm wondering why ford/mercury have not bothered to issue a recall.

When driving and a pothole is struck, brakes go out completely for a few seconds.as a whole, the brakes now operate at only approx. 25% effectiveness.the issue was confirmed to be related to the hydraulic control unit (hcu) by allstate insurance co., woltz and wind ford (local dealer), and apex autobody (local autobody).

The contact owns a 2007 mercury milan. While driving various speeds, the vehicle would not shift past 4 rpms. Also, when depressing the accelerator pedal, the vehicle jerked and shook while accelerating. The contact also stated that the vehicle shut off while the accelerator pedal was depressed. The check engine, traction control, and transmission warning indicators illuminated intermittently. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where the contact was informed that the throttle body was defective and needed to be replaced. The contact spoke with gosch ford hemet (150 carriage cir, hemet, ca 92545, 951-396-7250) and was informed that there were no recalls on the vehicle. The contact informed the dealer that she discovered manufacturer recall number: 13n03, which was a free repair ford offered its customers with defective throttle bodies. The dealer informed the contact that they were unaware of the recall and referred her to the manufacturer. When the contact spoke with the manufacturer, the contact was informed that they were aware of this particular recall; however, her vehicle was out of warranty and was no longer entitled to the repair. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 126,000.

Prior to the incident described the car was acting perfectly fine and had never died or been difficult to start. On the morning of sept 23rd i got in the car i started it and it died immediately.i started the car again and drove for approximately 1 block and it died again.i restarted it and it drove a couple more blocks and when i stopped at a stop sign it died again.after this the car would start but would shut off as soon as i put the car in gear.every time the car died the check charging system light would come on.the car was towed to the local ford dealer.the dealership ran the computer which indicated the electrical throttle body was bad.when the dealership removed the faulty throttle body they could not find any damage that would cause it to go bad.they explained that it must be a faulty part.when the throttle body was replaced a code indicated that the mass air flow sensor was also bad.the dealership could not find damage on the sensor either and explained that the throttle body going out blew the sensor.

The 2006- 2012 mercury milan and ford fusion are very likely to loose power steering and brakes. Due to the the way the belt tensioner is mounted on the engine is it very common that the bolt holding the pulley in place will snap causing accesories to shut off due to the belt falling off, ford will not take care of it, myself and hundred of others are having this issue as i went to forums online and found alot of people have the same issue, these are very safe dependable cars until this started happeing to all of us, if you are unsure as to if you should believe, start a poll with the owners of vehicles mentioned and others made by ford motors, its found to be very common.

While first driving my car from a standstill, i noticed the "wrench idiot light" on. The car seemed to buck as it went through it's gears. Also, the speedometer registered "0" at this time. Upon entering the highway, the car would not go into what i think is 4th gear. Several times, the car lurched forward and then throttled back to a low rpm, before responding to the gas pedal. Eventually, i could run at 55 mph @ 3000 rpm's, but it wouldn't shift any further, even when i went faster. At this time, the speedometer needle finally registered my true speed. A couple of times, the rpm's suddenly shot-up and then the engine throttled back. However, the car felt like it should have gone into it's final forward gear but couldn't. On local roads. It shifts extremely hard into it's gears. The whole time, the car's "wrench" light was on.

I was driving down a main road when the car just lost power could not accelerate. Pulled over to the side had to use e brake to stop. Turn off car try to turn it back on and it would not start only dash lights came on. Check engine. Had it towed.mechanic diagnosis 1 of the back coils went bad along with ecm/pcm. Fried the coil on the plug fuse as well. Very dangerous and scary when your driving in traffic about 50 miles per hour.car has 74,000. No warning light came on before this car has been maintained by ford with oil changes and multi point inspects. This seems to be an issue with mercury milan but no recalls???

Takata recall. The contact owns a 2007 mercury milan. While driving 40 mph, the vehicle shook, sputtered, and lost all power. There were no warning indicators illuminated. The vehicle was able to restart, but was towed to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed with a faulty coil pack that needed replacement. The contact stated that the independent mechanic replaced three coil packs; however, when the mechanic attempted to start the vehicle, the coil packs exploded and the vehicle shut off again. The independent mechanic informed the contact that the repairs were too large of a job for him and suggested the vehicle be taken to a dealer. The vehicle was not taken to a dealer for diagnostic testing or repairs. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The contact received notification of nhtsa campaign number: 16v384000 (air bags); however, the parts to do the repair were unavailable. The contact stated that the manufacturer exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The dealer and manufacturer were not notified. The contact had not experienced an air bag failure. The failure mileage was approximately 43,200. Vin tool confirms parts not available.

This happens with more frequency. The car studers when accelerating from a complete stop. Feels like the front tires are struggling to grip the road when the road is in fact dry and front tires are in good condition. Also tried to start and the engine started and then stalled. I had to do this three times before it started.

Less than 30000, miles air conditioning went out and was charged to repair it, air bag sensor light comes and goes but never fixed or repaired.was in a 30 mile a hour head accident, and air bags never deployed......driver window motor out 2 times...battery went out after 2 years and was charged 140 to replace a 80 dollar battery....trade it off now or deal with these issues!

2007 mercury milan premier began running very rough while traveling down a busy county road. The roughness appeared to increase when the engine was under load. I called my mechanic and was instructed to bring the car by for a computer analysis. Approaching the shop, no more than 4 miles since onset of problem, i began to smell a strong electrical burning. Upon lifting the car's hood the electrical burning smell was overwhelming and smoke was streaming from the #4 cylinder ignition coil. Carefully removing the coil revealed feet upon feet of unraveling and burning coil wire, along with rubber from the coils spark plug boot smoldering and dripping molten rubber down the hole... This could have turned out to be a very dangerous condition... If the car had been driven any further, i truly believe an open flame would have broken out... I was relieved that my wife or children weren't driving the car at the time.. My mechanic says the pcm computer possibly shorted out and may have damaged the other coils as well. The car will now have to be towed to a mercury dealer for a very expensive repair.. I was told there is no recall for this very dangerous condition on a mercury milan, however it's sister model, a ford fusion, does have a recall. This leaves me very frustrated and most likely broke...

I have noticed that my vehicle makes a funny whining sounds as i increase my speed. This includes getting up to highway speeds. I have taken it to the shop and they cannot tell where it is coming from. They just told me to turn up the radio to ignore it. They also suggested that i contact the dealership to see if there are any other complaints.

2007 mercury milan came to a complete stop on a 2 lane highway, at a speed of approximately 55 mph in the left hand lane with heavy traffic, no indication of problem to try and even pull over.towed to garage, was unable to fix.they towed it to a ford dealership, coils, spark plugs, throttle body and pcm replaced, still would not run. Towed back to original garage.did a smoke test on catalytic converter and stated 1 has to be replaced (will not pass inspection)but because of the number of "misfires"they strongly recommend replacing all three. After some searching i have found that this is a problem that ford has not only known about, but stated that they were cooperating fully with the government, however , there was never a recall.i have placed a complaint with nhtsa.i requested a quote to trade the car in, but because of it's present situation they offered me $3400.00, kelly blue book value is $7000.00, i still owe $3700.00 on this vehicle, still have to have catalytic converters replaced and just hope that it runs, and do not even at this time know the amount of repairs this far.i contacted ford headquarter and they response was first to have it towed again to the ford dealer.but when i questioned why i would need to pay yet another towing fee, she abruptly stated ."there is nothing we can do because you didn't have it initially diagnosed by ford.this car poses a potential life and death situation for the consumer.

Issue with pcm being short circuited. Resulting in having to replace ignition coils, fuel injector and pcm. Vehicle was in the process of accelerating, stopped accelerating, and started running terribly. Kept cutting off and check engine light flashed and eventually stayed on.

Vehicle engine light and wrench light comes on. Vehicle rpm's goes up causing vehicle to slow down on expressway. If you stop and restart the vehicle, it resets and drives normal. A couple times a day this happens.

We were northwest bound on the ohio turnpike just before rt 11 south of youngstown.travelling 70 mph, the car suddenly lost power and decelerated.the motor continued to run, but the car would not go more than 5 or 10 mph.the yellow wrench light on the left side of the instrument panel illuminated and remained until the motor was turned off.after sitting on the side of the highway for about an hour, the vehicle was started and the yellow wrench light was gone.aaa advised me to take the next available turnaround and return home which was about 70 miles away.after we turned around, the aaa technician followed us to the next service plaza.while there he checked the vehicle's fluids and found no problems.the vehicle's diagnostic check indicated that all of the monitored systems were alright.we drove the 70 miles home without incident.i suspect electronic throttle body connectivity as referenced in ford's customer satisfaction program 13n03 to be the cause of this incident.

Was driving home on the expressway where the speed limit is 65 and vehicle wouldn't go over 55 with rpm's at 3000. All the while having the wrench idiot light on. Hoping there is recall because i can't afford a new vehicle or even for it to be fixed.

My mom was driving on the freeway at 65-70/mph and all of a sudden the car jerked and shut off while it was rolling down the road. There was no warning! she could have been killed! the car suddenly lost acceleration power and the wheel locked up on her. We've checked to see if there has been any recalls and apparently there's a recall for the 2011 models, but nothing older. However, i have read multiple forums and there's been quite a few people that have had this issue. Again, she could've been killed!! something needs to be done!!

Car always shifted hard at 2500rpm's.but got progressively worse. Took to wayne lincoln mercury (where i had purchased the car new) they tested the car and said nothing was wrong. Brought car back at about 53,000 miles with same complaint they said it was a motor mount. Had it checked at local garage they said motor mount was fine.power train warning light came on trans started to slip trans fluid almost black.car had extended warranty but dealer refused to honor because car didn't have 70,000mileservicing done. Took to local trans shop transmission completely rebuilt car was fine for two weeks.power train light came on trans started to slip brought car back. They rebuilt trans again. Powertrain light on again car jerked in reverse, back to tranny shop said it was slipping again. Shop didn't want to take chance with current transmission rebuilt another trans and installed in car. Week later same problem car in shop again.has been going on for six months.can't drive car at all.

This happens with more frequency. The car studers when accelerating from a complete stop. Feels like the front tires are struggling to grip the road when the road is in fact dry and front tires are in good condition. Also tried to start and the engine started and then stalled. I had to do this three times before it started.

I was leaving work (5/23) on my way home when my car out of no where started to sputter. I pulled over and turned it off. I waited a few minutes and restarted the vehicle. It seemed fine so i drove it home. That evening my husband came home and started it to see what the issue was and it sputtered and shimmied again. Took the car to dealership on friday (5/24) so they could diagnose it. I was informed that it was the coils and the pcm had to be replaced i am still without my car because ford has yet to ship the part. It is my understanding that the pcm is on sales hold. It is now june 11th. This is not the first time my pcm was replaced. This is getting to be a costly situation and i need to know what ford is going to do about this. They know there is a problem that effects the fusion, taurus, edge, lincoln zephyr and mk and mkx, mercury milan and sable.

My car suddenly lost power and the wrench light came on, at the stop sign i shut the car off and restarted and it was gone. This happened intermittently until recently the car shutters and dies in rush hour traffic when you slow or come to a stop. It also loses power and accellerates very slowly. Now the wrench light is always on and the car surges when driving. I understand others are having trouble with this very issue. All my milage is highway miles as i drive 160 miles round trip per day. The throttle bodys are very expensive and a definate safety hazard as the trouble just kicks in at any given time and the sudden loss of power occuring during bumper to bumper is a safety concern. I have maintained my car and tried to keep it like new. I think the issue needs to be addressed and the throttle bodys need to be recalled.

The contact owns a 2007 mercury milan. The contact stated that while traveling approximately 55 mph, the vehicle suddenly stalled. The vehicle was towed to the dealer where the contact was advised that the spark plugs, the throttle body and the power train control module (pcm) were replaced.the failure was not corrected. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 85,000.

I was traveling on a two lane highway going about 60 mph with my two granddaughters in the car with me, when all of a sudden i lost power and the car began to decelerate. The wrench light came on. I pulled over to the side of the road and after calling my mechanic i turned the car off.i waited for about 5 minutes and restarted the vehicle. The wrench light went off and i was once again able to drive the vehicle. This is very dangerous if it should happen on a major freeway in rush hour traffic. Some internet research indicates that this has been a major problem with the mercury and others. I called a ford dealer who said my car was not part of the extended warranty that was part of the "customer satisfaction program" and he would not tell me any other information citing liability concerns.

12/12/2010--the transmission is slipping as i left my grandson birthday ,i bought the car last month it only has 19,800 miles on it.

I bought my 2007 mercury milan premiere in nov of 2007. I have not had any real problems until about 3 weeks ago. On a friday we were driving to my kids doctors and noticed that the gears were slipping a little bit. On the way back it got worse. So we took it in to a friends transmission shop and he had told us that the tranny was gone, bad history. So he had my car for 8 days putting a rebuilt tranny in it. We got it back on the 8th night and started driving home and noticed that it was not shifting properly. So we took it back and the axle seal had gone bad. So another day and a half of my car being in the shop. We had the car back for almost a week and i was driving it to the store and the rpm's went way up to 6500 and wasn't moving. So i pulled over. Waited 3 hours to be towed. So come to find out my tranny is out again and they now have had my car for 5 days. They also told me that 3 other milans have been in for tranny work. I have dish out $1650 for a rebuilt tranny and $480 for a rental. I now have a rental but thankfully the tranny place is paying for it.

After obtaining the 2007 mercury milan i4 premiere, i have had transmission problems with the 5-speed automatic, inasmuch that it "jerked" when putting it into reverse and wouldn't operate beyond 3rd gear. After taking it into the dealer, costa mesa lincoln mercury, the first time the problem appeared remedied for a couple of days, then returned. I took the vehicle back into the same dealers service, where it has been for over a month. I made my second and third payments while it sat in service. At this point, the entire transmission has been replaced, the controller, solenoid, etc. When i picked it up the second time, i didn't even make it back to the freeway when the same problem appeared again, so i immediately returned the car a third time to service for the same problem. Please note that i have no problem with the dealer, this is a problem from the factory. The dealer had a ford factory service rep. Out for three consecutive days, and when asked how to fix the vehicle he replied, "replace it." the dealer is saying that to replace it will still take another 3 weeks or so. I feel this ridiculous, because the car has been at the dealers service dept. More than i have had it to enjoy, while still being required to make payments. Ford/mercury had better remedy this, to my satisfaction, quickly!

The bearing on the drive line of my 2007 milan is bad and the car has about 29000 miles. It has been over a month since i took the car to a ford dealer to get fixed. The dealer can't get the replacement part from ford.

Passenger seat malfunction no longer can tell if occupant is in seat. Airbag light on. Mechanic says faulty wiring causing dummy light on dashboard to illuminate.

The contact owns a 2007 mercury milan. The contact stated that the brakes failed while exiting the highway at 55 mph. The contact drove over an uneven road surface and as the brakes were depressed, the brake pedal released to the floorboard. The contact had to use the emergency brake to stop the vehicle.the contact did not locate a brake fluid leak of any kind. In addition, there was no warning of the failure. The vehicle was towed to the dealer but was not repaired. The failure and the current mileages was 67,000.

Takata recall. The contact owns a 2007 mercury milan. When the contact depressed the brake pedal, the pedal had to be pumped because the brake system failed to engage to stop the vehicle. As a result, the vehicle slid forward and the contact had to apply extreme force to the brake pedal to stop the vehicle. The vin was included in nhtsa campaign number: 16v384000 (air bags). The dealer was not contacted. The vehicle was not included in any brake recalls or nhtsa action number: pe16017 (service brakes, service brakes, hydraulic). The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was not available.

The contact owns a 2007 mercury milan. When the brake pedal was depressed, it traveled to the floorboard. The following day, the vehicle was taken to john kennedy ford of phoenixville (730 valley forge rd, phoenixville, pa 19460, (610) 917-8200) where it was diagnosed and the hydraulic control unit was replaced. The vehicle was not included, but experienced the same failures as listed in nhtsa action number: ea18002 (service brakes, air). The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 92,489.

I loose anti lock brakes completely/partially when stopping suddenly.the brakes become very "loose" meaning all they way to the floor.i noticed this starting last year, then again this year.

On three occasions since mid september i would hit a road anomaly, usually a small pothole, while braking and the brake pedal would go to the floor instantly.with a few rapid panic pumps enough braking is restored to stop. Tried bleeding system after first incident but apparently that is not the problem as event happened multiple times after the bleeding.

Continuing phone call ref.# 326373:(did not have all information in front of me to continue). 12/12/2019 took car to firestone tire and automotive and wanted them to check my brakes because something was not right with them. The put new brakes and rotors on front and back. Problem was car was hesitant in stopping, then would "grab." while driving, if i had to use brakes, car would not immediately resume speed after brakes released. Rpm's go way up, mpg drops to "0," then car accelerates. It is very hesitant in picking speed back up. Twice i took car to shop to have them check it out.(4/13/20 and 9/1/20) could not find anything. No problem came up on computer. No engine light. I believe recall #19s54/nhtsa 19v-904 responsible. Received recall notice january 2020. I have called local ford dealership to see if parts available to fix and was told (also on website) they would be available probably last part of first quarter of 2020. Now last part of third quarter and no parts. Afraid car will "stall" in traffic and cause accident.

Soft brake pedalbrake pedal will go soft when the abs system activates and will continue to be soft for a period of time. First experienced this in winter 2015/2016 and brake was soft for several days after abs system activated due to snow on the ground. After several days the brakes went back to normal. However again this winter 2016/2017 the abs was activated in december 2016 and the brakes went soft and continue to be soft to date. I have to double pump my brakes several times in order for the brakes to activate without having to push my brake pedal all the way to the floor. I have not had any accidents but consider this a huge safety hazard and a defect related to the manufacturing of the vehicle.

The contact stated that the brake pedal traveled to the floorboard. The contact had to pump the brake pedal in order to stop the vehicle. While driving approximately 10 mph, the contact attempted to stop at a red light and the brakes malfunctioned. The contact rear ended another vehicle and caused minor damage. There were no injuries and a police report was not filed. An independent mechanic was unable to duplicate the failure; however, the brakes and hydraulic control were replaced. The mechanic diagnosed that the brakes collapsed and there may be a leak in the anti-lock brake system. The dealer and the manufacturer were not contacted. The failure mileage was 120,000.

While driving down the street if i hit a bump or pot hole while pressing the brakes the brake pedal goes to the floor but does not return to normal position.the car will come to a stop and the brakes will engage to stop the care but the pedal goes to the floor before it will stop.the first time it happened the pedal returned to the position a few hours later. After multiple times of turning the car on and off. The second time it happened i took it into the car dealership. They did get the car to duplicate the problem but said that they couldn't find a problem with my brakes. The dealership contacted ford and was told that they have never heard of that problem and it may just be a characteristic of my car. I also contacted ford myself and they told me they have nothing on record for a problem like that and to take it to another dealership and have them look at it. Ford customer care kept telling me that my car was no longer under warranty.it has since happened a couple more times but now the pedal is not returning to normal position it is going to the floor before the car stops. I know my car is no longer under warranty i just want to get the problem fixed. I can not believe that this is a characteristic of my car that i have owned for 5 years and never had this problem before this.

I was driving on country roads with snowy conditions, and when i started brakingto make a turn, abs engaged because of slippery roads, immediately thereafter i experienced a lack of braking power /a soft sinking brake pedal with little to no braking power. This is a traffic safety hazard, upon doing some online research i discovered that this is a common problem , the abs control module, or the hydraulic control assemblyhas a sticking valve in the abs system, routing the brake fluid through the abs system instead of to the brakes, where it should go. Ford motor company should be issuing a recall for the safety of the vehicle owners, and for the integrity of their own company the abs control module needs to be updated and replaced

The contact owns a 2007 mercury milan. While driving 35 mph, the brake pedal traveled to the floorboard and the vehicle took an excessive amount of time to slow down. The failure recurred several more times. The vehicle was not taken to a dealer or independent mechanic. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. A dealer and manufacturer were not contacted. The approximate failure mileage was 30,000. ... .updated 11/16/17 the vehicle was repaired at the owner's expense. The abs pump was replaced. Updated 12/18/2017

Break pedal goes to floor intermittently with very weak brakes. Believe this to be abs pump problem after reading up with many other owners having same problem.have replaced entire brake system (except abs pump) thus far and problem still exists. How has this not been recalled yet?

Brakes went to the floor and i slid through a stop sign. My husband informs me the brakes have been like this for months.i usually don't drive this car, but i did that day, and will not drive it now, it is not safe.our mechanic is stumped; bled the brakes, and replaced everything.still going to the floor.

The breaks when stopping the car continue to go ford ward and sometimes when stop you can feel air pushing down like it doses want to stop.

The contact owns a 2007 mercury milan. The contact stated that the brakes did not decelerate the vehicle even when the brake pedal was depressed to the floorthe dealer was unable to diagnose or repair the vehicle. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 55,000. Updated 04/05/17*lj**updated 09/14/17*lj*as

When i apply my brakes and my abs kicks in i lose brake pressure and it takes longer to stop the vehicle.the vehicle is in motion in snowy or rainy conditions, this happens only when abs is engaged.this also happened last year, 2017, i should have reported this last year as well.

Brakes fail following an abs event.brake pedal becomes soft and sinks to the floor.if brakes are pumped repeatedly they can be returned to normal - but then fail again upon a subsequent abs event.tried having brake fluid flushed and rebled -temporary solution until next abs event.this failure is life endangering - this car is unsafe.google the web this car and the fusion have repeated complaints of this type of failure.

The contact owns a 2007 mercury milan. While driving approximately 30 mph, the brakes failed and the brake pedal became stuck to the floorboard. Immediately, the contact placed the vehicle into neutral and coasted to a nearby parking lot. The contact restarted the vehicle and depressed the brake pedal several times in an attempt to correct the recurring failure. Towne ford (3535 southwestern blvd, orchard park, new york 14127, (716) 662-6500) was contacted and stated that there was no recall on the vehicle. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 98,000.

Brakes go soft or spongy resulting in increased brake distance/less responsive. While driving on on a major road i hit a bump and lost all of the pressure. They were never the same again. I have to push the pedal to the floor to brake.

While driving straight on an icy road, brake pedal went to floor and lost braking - pumping the brakes helped restore braking enough to get it to repair shop 1 block away -replaced abs brake cylinder at costs of more than $1000 dec 2015.

The contact owns a 2007 mercury milan. On several occasions, while driving in inclement weather, the brake pedal was depressed, but failed to stop the vehicle. The contact stated that the brake pedal traveled to the floorboard. The contact stated that the failure was intermittent. The vehicle was taken to lincoln of troy (located at 1950 w maple rd, troy, mi 48084,(833) 895-1682) to be diagnosed. The contact was informed that the abs test and brake test showed no abnormality. Additionally, no diagnostic trouble codes were retrieved. The contact stated that the brake rotors and brake pads were replaced; however, the brake pedal was soft and spongy. The manufacturer was contacted and provided case number: cas-16448413. The approximate failure mileage was 61,220. The consumer stated the work was done after 11/16/2018 incident date.

Brakes continue to be an issue to the point i am not able to drive the car in bad weather or on rough road. I have borrowed a car to drive during snow etc.brakes go to the floor and do not work definitely once abs system is activated.brakes on a daily basis continually go to the floor and do not grab once applied.brakes are working day to day driving on dry smooth roads, but typically they go to the floor and you can finally stop with ample space allowed.when brake is applied, you feel an initial grab, then let go, propelled forward, and then the final grab once petal is at the floor.this is unpredictable and uncomfortable to be using brakes in bumper to bumper traffic let alone day to day driving stopping behind another car.must always leave lots of stopping distance in front of the car for enough space to stop.brakes at times have to be pumped to get any pressure.all inspections are up to date, and brake parts are new (pads, rotors, master cylinder) and repeatedly checked over last few years.it has come to the point i cannot drive the car in the winter.i cannot afford a car payment. Mine car is paid for. And my car is kept impeccable and maintained constantly. I want my car fixed. I love my car. This has been ongoing for some time now and every garage assures me my brakes are soft but nothing wrong that they can find after hours and hours at different repair shops.what is being done to remedy this?i do not have scanning abilities for repair receipts to be uploaded.i do not have all the receipts for every time i had a brake inspection worried about my brakes.i do have most recent receipts for safety check 5/3/16, master cylinder replaced 8/8/16 (probably not needed), brake check 12/14/16, and brake check 1/17/17. Receipts are from different garages. This car is for sure not safe to drive in snow.

The anti lock brakes came on when i was sliding in snow . Then my brakes went soft . I had to stop and put my car in park and pump the brake peddle to get them to come back up. Very scary this is the second time it has happened!

While backing the vehicle down a snowy driveway the abs engaged briefly. Moments later, i had to brake to allow an oncoming car to pass, and the brakes were suddenly very soft, pedal went almost to the floor and i had to take evasive maneuvers onto a curb to avoid collision.the brakes remained very soft and spongy, though they improved a bit with pumping.

When the car is under braking (light or heavy) conditions over rough or uneven surfaces, such as a manhole cover, or on slippery roads, the anti-lock braking system does not work properly. This increases the distance required to stop the car, heightening the chance of a crash.specifically- the vehicle is operating under normal braking circumstances over a rough or slippery surface at less than 30mph, at this time the abs engages (sometimes inappropriately/too conservative application of abs), and it feels as if air is injected into the hydraulic system by the abs pump at this time (not 100% sure if that is what is occurring, but that is what it feels like), as the pedal will become either very soft (poor brakes with heavy bias front to back throughout the pedal travel) or go all the way to the floor (no brakes). If the brakes are pumped in a panic mode rapid succession after this "no brakes" condition, the pedal will increase in stiffness somewhat, but still only what i would characterize as 30% braking effectiveness. Barely enough to come to a stop in a reasonable distance. After this abs pump cycling, the pedal will also have a different braking "feel" with every single subsequent brake pedal operation cycle. Sometimes the rear brakes engage first, not slowing the car sufficiently enough w/out the front brakes, forcing increased pedal pressure to be applied, then the front brakes engage suddenly and unsettle the car.this braking condition lasts indefinitely after the abs pump cycling event. Even if the brakes are bled by a ford or otherwise qualified mechanic, the car is subject to this same behavior upon the next cycling of the abs braking system. The vehicle has 201k miles, and has been exhibiting this annoying and dangerous behavior since approximately 75k miles. Date occurred field on this webpage is most recent time that this has occurred over many years.

When the abs engages for any reason, no matter how minute the event was, my brake pedal sinks all the way to the floor and i do not stop. I recently rear ended someone (thankfully it was not a big deal) and it was because it was raining and a little bit slippery. My abs engaged and instead of the car stopping, i continued moving at the same (albeit slow) speed, until the car in front of me was tapped, despite me slamming on the brake. After, i actually had to pull over and pump my brakes for them to work properly again! it is winter here in new england and i now have to keep a significant distance between myself and cars in front of me to accommodate for this insane, dangerous situation. Nothing is wrong with my brakes themselves, they have been replaced and the fluid levels are normal. Every time my abs engages, i have to go through the process of pumping my brakes back up. This needs to be recalled!!!!! this is dangerous! it has been happening for several years now but no problem could ever be found with my brakes. I've just learned to keep a significant distance. I cannot remember when it first took place, but i would guess it started in 2015.

I don't recall exactly when this issues started but it was at least 2015 possibly 2014.when an abs event occurs, the brake pedal goes soft, to the floor, and takes longer to brake. The pedal continues to be soft for about a day initially before returning to normal.now it occurs for extended periods of time.this requires to start braking earlier and leave lots of space between my car and the car in front of me which isn't always possible in traffic.the tires tend to slide on wet road conditions normally but the braking issue makes it worse. Very scary.i have been overly cautious and have had many close calls but not had an accident by some miracle.removing the two abs fuses (8 & 10) which has helpedbut this resulted in the abs and brake light to be on permanently. With the brake light on, car will not pass inspection.but with the fuse in, if my pedal is soft and goes to the floor before braking, it will not pass inspection either.a google search resulted in the following videos:1)https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0r46_unyyk82)https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vwflkcxxztygoogle it and numerous other videos will be easily found. Note: date, mileage, and speed in following questions were estimated.i know approximately when it started.reporting a safety issue in this manner was not an option that i was aware of.

I drive a 2007 mercury milan, and i experienced a low brake pedal after an abs event. I was traveling at 25 mph and was approaching a traffic light that was changing to red. I applied the brakes to stop and slid on a patch of ice. My abs kicked in and immediately afterwards my brake pedal fell to the floor. I was able to continue driving, however, i felt very unsafe. When pressing the brake pedal there was a split second of pressure and then the pedal would fall to the floor. I was able to stop, however, my stopping distance increased greatly. I was able to get where i was going but i parked the car after and refused to drive it. This same thing happened to me about a year ago, but after a day the pedal came back and seemed to be operating correctly. I had a brake maintenance done, and everything looked fine. I assumed maybe it was a fluke. Since that time i have replaced all pads and rotors, so when this event happened again i knew it had to be something else. I looked around a little bit and it appears i am not the only one having this issue. I had the abs pump replaced about a week ago, and so far it seems to be working. The mechanic that replaced the pump made the car go into an abs event and the brake pedal stayed stiff. I do not know if this is the fix or not, but it brought my brake pedal back for the time being. I sincerely hope nhtsa investigates. Finding yourself with a low brake pedal is terrifying, especially in winter.

Several times over the years i have noticed while breaking the pedal goes soft.it happens sporadically.when it happens we check break fluid level which is always good.when hearing about the current investigation, it all makes sense.i believe my car has a defect with the anti-lock system.

Brakes work sporadically.subject of nhtsa 19v904 and ford recall 19s54.was supposed to be handled in first quarter of 2020 but i have heard nothing from ford.

Anti-lock brake issuein five months i have had to replace two abs modules/units.i first noticed my brakes getting spongy in late 2016, that's when the first abs was replaced. Although this fixed the issue for a couple weeks, i then started to notice that my brakes were locking, when not applying the brakes. I returned to the repair shop which lead to new components on my brakes(pads front and rear, calipers rotors.etc.) because of the wear.all were replaced.then the situation happened again when my teenage son was driving.under acceleration, the brakes started applying pressure, which the engine had to compensate for.after taking it in to be repaired again, that is when the second abs unit was replaced.this was after three days of trouble-shooting.i feel this is a safety issues, and i have spent an exhaustive amount of money on this one issue.i can only assume also, that because of braking, while i was accelerating, there will be more issues down the road. Please advise.thank you.

My car has on several occasions lost brake pressure after going over a bump or some hard road conditions. The first time it happened i had my brakes changed because i thought they were not good. The shop, firestone (los angeles, ca) made several attempts to get rid of the softness and going to the floor half way, but not until they bled the brakes for the 2nd time did it seems to work. Second time i was in mexico and the brakes were great - then i went over a large speed bump and my brakes all of a sudden went completely soft. I took it to a shop and they said the brakes were fine. They bleed the brakes and things seemed good again. The third time it happened i went over a pothole and again the brakes went from good to totally soft again. I took the car to marina ford dealership and they told me that it was the hydraulic control unit and told me that it would be a $1,600 repair. I was shocked and told them i think there is something terribly wrong with this unit because i have gone through a lot of trouble with these cars brakes. They said they can fix it, but i didn't have $1,600 at the time to spend. So i bleed the brakes myself and changed the rotors and pads myself. After three times bleeding all four brake lines - it seemed good again, but when i am at a long light the brakes start to go down to about half way and the car starts slowing moving until i pump the brakes. I really think ford should replace this. It is dangerous and it is their error i believe. It is a lemon part. They told me that some brake fluid gets stuck in the hcu after a perceived abs event. Then it should come back through the unit again, but it doesn't and get stuck in there and that is why the brakes are soft. This sounds to me like a faulty part, but they won't fix it unless i give them $1,600! i can't change it myself, it requires that there is a computer reset and only ford has that.

Two occurrences of failed brakes. The first occurred in a highway construction zone going over the rough road. Vehicles in front had begun to slow in front of me, requiring the brakes to be applied. After an estimated half second of initial braking, the pedal went to the floor and lost nearly all breaking capacity. After letting off the pedal and reapplying several times the brakes recovered enough to slow the car. Estimated speed at time of initial breaking was 50-55 mph. They did not fully recover to full capacity until a several more breaking cycles. The second occurred while turning onto a rough turn lane adjacent to the highway traveling at about 65 mph. After a moment of initial braking, the pedal went to the floor and had zero braking capacity. The car continued to coast as i was applying the emergency brake but caused the car to run through the intersection at about 55-60 miles an hour. The car is currently at the ford dealer, diagnosed as a failed abs hydraulic control unit.

When driving the brake peddle will go almost to the floor. Brake peddle goes soft and goes to floor after the abs has been used. Peddle has to be pump up to get braking back. Does notcorrects problem for it will reoccur in a few days.

The contact owns a 2007 mercury milan. While driving at any speed and when the brake pedal was applied, it traveled all the way down to the floorboard. The vehicle was driven to a mechanic who diagnosed it as having a hydraulic pump failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was not available.

Manufacturer recall number19s54nhtsa recall number19v904list 12/2019 and still no remedy available

I have received 2 notices from ford date 1/2020 an10/20, each advising of a recall regarding the brakes.each time , the parts are not in and i must continue to drive a vehicle that is totally unsafe. Sometimes when i hit the brakes, the pedal goes straight to the floor like there is an air pocket.i am concerned about my safety and the safety of others should these brakes fail

The contact owns a 2007 mercury milan. While driving at any speed, the brake pedal was depressed and traveled all the way down but not clear to the floorboard the failure recurred numerous times. The vehicle was driven to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that the abs hydraulic control unit needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 70,000.updated 03/03/17*lj

The contact owns a 2007 mercury milan. When the brake pedal was engaged, the brake system emitted a grinding noise and the abs indicator illuminated. The contact received an unknown recall notice for manufacturer number: 19s54. The manufacturer and dealer were not contacted. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The failure mileage was 98,000.vin tool confirms parts not available.

When i apply my brake, the pedal goes to the floor and is hard to stop, after stopping i will pump them and get pressure back, but as soon as i brake again the pedal goes to floor and is hard to get to stop.

While driving approximately 35 mph, i took my foot off the accelerator and the vehicle accelerated until it was then going approximately 50 mph.i pushed down on the brake pedal to slow down several times, but the car did not slow down it continued to drive at that same speed.the vehicle then struck a stop sign and came to a stop.

Dog ran into road and breaks were depressed with force going approximately 20mph, straight, in a neighborhood. After, breaks began to sink to floor with each stop. Brought to dealership and break pads were replaces, issue was not resolved. After, breaks continuing to sink to floor then breaks line leaked all fluid. Brought back to dealership for service. Told "computer" or "chip" needed to be replaced (all totally $1000). Car has performed fine since although breaks seem to be wearing down quicker. (date is approximate as just noticed all complaints and wanted to report mine as well)

Soft brake pedal, pedal goes most of the way to floor to stop.replaced master cylinder and pads.informed that hydraulic control unit was bad as well(cost of an additional $1300.00).concerned about the cost of repair and stories of others that had repeated failures of the hcu.ford should replace unit for free after the first occurrence.i will pay for the repair once, but don't want to be bleed repeatedly.

Brake pedal goes to the floor when abs unit is activated this happens with the car in motion

When depressing the brakes and engaging the abs the pedal becomes spongy and goes to the floor.sometimes pumping the brake brings up the pressure again but not always.i've heard it could be the abs module gone bad.

I have to press my brakes excessively to get them to work and this is becoming a safety issue. Recall 19s54 was issued back in december 2019 and there is still no fix. I have not been in an accident yet but now there is snow and ice and makes it even more difficult to stop.

Lost my front brakes after hitting pothole on one occasion and has happened a few times in wet weather with minor bumps, figured out that i had to turn my vehicle off to reset computer and pumped my brakes as if i just changed them and they came back.the first time this happened was about three years ago made some calls to dealers with no answers and my mechanic couldn't find anything and has happened at least 4 times since then

Shortly after being involved in a rear end collision, the car had an instance of the brake pedal going soft and hard to get the vehicle to stop without additional effort on the brake pedal. After doing some online research, i found an article that said to find a spot to get the car up to speed and force a rapid braking situation to get the stuck spool valves in the abs unit to release. I did this and the problem went away. I did this so that the car could be functional before going to the collision shop for repairs. At the collision shop, i asked for the cars brake system to be inspected specifically for this abs units issues, and even brought in a copy of the online research i had done. The ford dealer that did the collision repair did not find any brake issue to correct. Now 6 months later with a recent snowfall that had left our area icy, the car's abs unit was called on for a slip condition while stopping. My daughter called me and told me about this event when it occurred, and i told her i would bring it back to the dealer that inspected it. By the time i came home to take the car back in, the car was again fine. I am wanting this issue to be pushed forward to force ford to have the car repair the car, since it has show two separate instances of what i would call brake failure.

Just purchased this car used. 91, k miles. Brakes failed on me. I turned around in a parking lot making a sharp left turn and pulled back out onto the road. I was only about 20 yards from a stop sign. When i approached the stop sign, my breaks went to the floor and we went straight through the intersection, unable to stop. I pumped them like crazy and we slowed to a stop about 4 car lengths from the stop sign.

When attempting to stop on a city street, at an intersection, the brake pedal went to the floor requiring me to use the emergency brake to stop. Even doing this, we wound up in an oncoming traffic lane. The vehicle was taken to a repair shop and the brakes were repaired. I have a service order from the private repair shop describing what was done to repair the system.

12/9/16 after abs activated on ice, the brake petal went to the floor.now it takes several pumps of the brakes to stop quickly. Also, it can start to roll back when starting the car if the brake petal isn't firmly pressed down.car at ford dealer now.they said it needs a new hydraulic control unit which isn't being manufactured.

Extended braking. Had my abs hydraulic control unit replaced due to the common braking failure with this model year. Ford dealer replaced the part and about 9months later the part failed again. Both times i was traveling at highway speeds and narrowly avoid wrecking. Replacing the part does not fix the problem.

While braking abs was engaged and worked. After abs stopped brake pedal was soft. Valve in abs control unit was stuck open causing brake fluid to loop through and affect brake pressure. This caused a soft brake pedal and increased stop distance. After talking to a local ford dealership and researching online i found many other fusion/milan owners to have this exact problem with the valve in their abs control unit being stuck open.

This morning when getting on freeway, abs was activated due to snowy weather. After this, brakes needed to be pumped several times and the pedal pushed nearly to the floor for car to stop. Made it to work after narrowly escaping several potential accidents and sliding through a red light due to brake failure. Upon leaving work, brakes were still not functioning properly. The failure made it impossible to stop predictably. Once i returned home i decided to google the issue to see if other mercury owners have had this issue. As it turns out, it is a massive problem for so many people. I cannot believe there hasn't been a recall yet. After reading so many accounts of accidents due to this issue i no longer feel safe driving my vehicle. I don't want to start replacing parts only to have the issue continue on as many other people have reported.

Brake failure when trying to stop at any speed including city or highway. When pushing down on pedal to slow down or stop the pedal continues to go down to floor and feels like brake pedal pulses and makes a odd noise like a gurgling and air leaking and when pumped a few times the pedal comes back to normal and i dont think it would stop if the vehicle was needing to stop in a hurry

I noticed this vehicle has four different recalls on it and i want to check and see if it's in the records that the recalls were properly addressed and carried out on this car or if it still hasn't been done yet.

I was coming home from taking a friend to get her nails done.as i approached an intersection, my brake pedal went also to the floor and i went beyond the stopping point of the intersection, but did not enter into traffic.it was still that way the next day and i had the car towed to a dealership and was told there was nothing wrong with my brakes. I have had this happen 3 more times since. I do not feel that this is something that should be happening with any vehicle.

While driving on a city street and braking to stop and slow down, brake pedal went to the floor. Was able to bring the vehicle safely to a stop without accident.the vehicle was towed to a nearby dealer who checked the brakes for air in the line and then determined that the master cylinder was defective and needed replaced.master cylinder was replaced and corrected the problem.

Abs braking failed when brake pedal was applied vigorously while driving on a city street during slippery conditions. The abs started to engage, then brake pedal went to the floor and brakes were lost.repair shop replaced brake master cylinder but then found the abs module was faulty. There are many reports listing these modules as being a problem

In oct 2011, while coming to a stop on an uneven surface of a shopping center, the abs kicked in, and brake pedal fell to the floor. Eventually the car came to a stop, when the emergency brake was pulled. Within a minutes the brake pedal resumed normal function. As a precaution, an independent repair shop bled the brakes.8 months later abs engaged for a hard brake while traveling 45.the brake pedal fell to the floor board, and the car did not stop. (i ran over the armadillo). The next day,the pedal did not resume normally, so i took it to the dealership.ford diagnosed a bad abs module. Had a new, genuine module replaced. About one year after the module was replaced, ran over railroad tracks and depressed the brake going less than 10 mph and the pedal fell to the floor, but a few minutes later it returned to normal. March of 2015, the pedal fell to the floor while hitting a pothole at less than 10mph, and coming to a stop. Pedal did not resume normal pressure. Went to an independent repair shop and they diagnosed a bad master cylinder. After the part was replaced, i drove around the parking lot and the problem was not fixed. (when the car is in park, i could slowly pump the brake and pressure would build, but while driving, the pedal was still squishy.) repair shop stated it was a bad part, and replaced another master cylinder. The second part still has not fixed the problem and my brakes continue to be squishy. Because of this issue, my brakes and rotors are being worn abnormally, which is going to cause more need for repair. It has been suggested by others with this same problem(there are a lot!) that i buy a new car because this one is unsafe. Until i can afford that, i hope others come forward with their issues. This should not be happening, and ford is responsible!

Abs braking system was activated during rain (november '16) while driving on a city street. During activation, brake pedal went to floor and it became very difficult to stop the car. Nearly slid into intersection. Following the brake pedal going to floor, the pedal continued to be soft and was difficult to stop the car. Have tried pumping the brakes to improve the softness, but that doesn't help very much. Taking to dealer immediately as car has become more difficult to stop.

Roads were snow covered and when went to brake, the pedal went to the floor.the abs did not kick in but had no brakes.pumped several times but pedal would just go to the floor.this is as reported by my mother.

While driving the car and applying the brakes car hits a bump in the road, brake pedal immediately drops to floor losing brake pressure brake pressure does not come back until the car is put in park and brake pedal pumped repeatedly. The brake does work during but excessive force needed to stop vehicle it has happened at least 10 times

In 2016 on a wintry day i had an abs event and the pedal fell to the floor. It came up again by itself hours later. January 10th 2017 had another abs event and the pedal fell to the floor. It cost me $387.00 to fix it. The abs system has a safety issue and i urge you to please take a look at this. Hundreds of people have had this problem.takata recallford sent me a letter stating i have takata but they haven't fixed it.

Spongy brakes after driving over rough road.was make a right turn in to gas station where terrain and road uneven.scared me because my car wouldn't stop as i pushed down on brake. Brake was pushed to the ground completely

After hitting a patch of water and braking the brakes went out.dealer is reporting to me that the abs hydraulic control unit is suspected as the issue.

We had a problem with our vehicle stopping in a safe way, as stopping was delayed which almost resulted in a auto accident.we took it to our local mechanic for repair and inspection as we were concerned there was an issue with the safety of the brakes.our mechanic notified us there was a recall, however parts were not available.he found a used part and repaired the issue.we took the receipt and recall notice to our local ford dealer whonotified they could not refund us for the repair until the part was available.the part is still not available.1/28/20

Brake pedal goes to floor most of the time. Have had brakes inspected. Replaced leaking master cylinder. Did not correct problem. Was told abs hydraulic control problem. $1300 to $1600 to repair. Can not afford to pay. Car only has 77450 miles. Have been told not to drive vehicle. Ford needs to stand by there product. This is a very bad safety issue. Please help in any way. The contact own a 2007 mercury milan. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the brake pedal was depressed but went to the floor board, which caused the braking distance to be extended. There was no warning light illuminated. The vehicle was not taken to be diagnosed nor repaired. A dealer was not contacted. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 140,000.

I was driving home from work when i began hearing a noise from my passenger side tire when i would brake. I pulled over to see if there was a flat, but didn't notice anything out of the ordinary. I continued on the highway home and kept hearing noises when i would brake.i took the exit for my neighborhood; while i was on the access road slowing down to the speed limit, the passenger rear brake locked on me. I made it to a complete stop about 100 feet from the light at the intersection. After turning on the hazard lights, i tried to accelerate, but the car did not want to move. I ended up being able to move the car at a slow rate to the strip mall about a quarter of a mile away. I called for a tow, but all the ones i reached out to had an approx. Wait time of 2 hours and the dealership closed in 1 hour. While deciding what to do with the car, i noticed the abs light was on. I was about 5 minutes from home and decided to drive the car onward. I took the car at a slow rate to try and ensure nothing happen. When i turned onto my street, the passenger tire blew out and the abs light turned off. I drove the last few feet home and called a tow the following morning. The car is currently at the dealership in queue to be worked on.

The contact owns a 2007 mercury milan. While driving at approximately 25 mph, the brake pedal was depressed and traveled abnormally to the floorboard. The failure recurred numerous times. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that the brakes needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired, but the failure continued. The vehicle was taken again to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that the master cylinder needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired, but the failure continued. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was unknown.

While driving to work and then back home from work i cross over a couple of railroad tracks.going over them rather rough one time, i noticed my abs system light engaged and came on.everything appears okay, abs light goes back off so we continue driving.however, the brakes are extremely soft and often have to be pushed all the way to the floor to engage any real ability to stop the vehicle.we found that pumping the brakes seems to help their softness, but it is not a fix for the situation as the brake pedal will still return to the floor when the next need for braking arises.then we will have periods of driving with no issues.but have had this same problem with the brake pedal re-occur with some mild road abnormalities.since this is not an issue that was constant at the time, we learned a way to get around it by pumping the brakes to put air back in the mechanism.but now it is happening every couple of weeks.my husband was hit on our front fender by a gentleman driving the wrong way and the small 'tap' from the accident seemed to have retriggered the soft braking issue so the mechanics looked into it since we described our problems.

I hit a pothole while driving and the abs engaged. Then my brake pedal went to the floor. The car would not stop. Eventually the brake pedal came back to normal but i had to keep pumping the pedal. I almost crashed into the car in front of me.

I was driving forward at about 15 mph on a snow covered road (residential city street). I came upon an uncontrolled intersection when i noticed a car coming from my right side, i then attempted to slow down and stop. While trying to slow down my brake pedal lost all pressure and went to the floor, causing an inability to slow down properly. Resulting in my car hitting the rear driver side of the other car in the middle of the intersection. My brake pedal has lost pressure 3 times previously all in the same winter conditions (snow and icy road) and while trying to slow down. I took my car to 2 different mechanics, with no issues found with the brake system. 1 of the previous times i had to use my emergency brake for the car to stop completely the other 2 times took an extended amount of time for the car to stop. When my brake pedal loses pressure i immediately park my car, the pressure on the brake pedal with go back to normal after letting the car sit for at least 5 hours if not longer.

My daughter had two episodes where when the abs brakes were activated she then would experienceda soft pedal for brakes.the first episode was on a dirt road and the second episode was on ice. My husband met her at the second episode site and sure enough the brake pedal went to the floor. My husband turned the car off and when the car restarted the brakes worked fine. We took the car to the romeo ford to be serviced but they could reproduce the problem. We were forced for obvious reasons to replace both parts of the abs brakes. My husband spent hours investigating this issue and found other owners with similar stories. [xxx]information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).

I am the owner of a 2007 mercury milan.in january of 2013 one of my front wheels hit a small bump in the road while braking which caused the abs system to engage. Immediately afterwards my brake pedal went to the floor. I took it to the dealer and they replaced the brake booster and master cylinder, which were both covered under the extended warranty. However they also said that my front and rear rotors and brake pads were ruined and all must be replaced. This was not under warranty. The price tag for this was $604.51. I was told if i got the work done elsewhere i would void the warranty.so i paid the $604.51. In june 2016 while going down a steep hill i had to brake lightly when one of my front wheels hit a small pothole, the abs engaged and again my brake pedal immediately went to the floor again. Researching the problem i found that this is a very common problem with 2007 milan's and fusions. The abs pump is designed poorly and the valves tend to stick after an abs event. Further research revealed that ford has known about this problem since 2007 and chose to do nothing about it. This time the cost to fix it cost $112.80. The dealer also told me if it happens again the 'hcu/ecu' unit will have to be replaced at a price of $1900. I am sure that this product defect has been well known and documented by ford.i've paid a total of $717.31 for a problem that ford has known about for the better part of nine years.i would like to be compensated for these charges. I wrote a letter to ford motor company only to get a generic letter back stating that i need to go through the dealer if i have any concerns. I did this only to be told that anyone can find anything on the internet when i described to them all the other people who were having the same problem with their milan. I saw a recent article that ford is being investigated so i decided to write to you about this!

Brake pedal looses pressure and goes "soft" when trying to brake. Most times have to press brakes to the floor to come to complete stop.

Multiple times while trying to brake it takes longer than it should. If braking over man hole covers, it will feel like the brakes are skidding. Two times i have been in accidents where i had plenty of braking space and had the brake to the floor but still did not have time to stop. Both times were on highways

The contact owns a 2007 mercury milan. While operating the vehicle and depressing the brake pedal, the abs indicator illuminated and the vehicle would not immediately stop. The brake pedal extended to the floor and the braking distance increased. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who diagnosed that the abs was faulty. The abs module was replaced, but the failure continued. The module was replaced with the manufacturer's updated module and the failure was remedied. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 5,000.

The contact owns a 2007 mercury milan. The contact stated that the brake pedal traveled to the floorboard several times without warning when it was depressed. The failure caused the contact to have to constantly pump the brake pedal to stop the vehicle. The brake master cylinder was replaced by an independent mechanic, but the failure recurred shortly after the repair. The part was replaced again, but the failure continued. Courtesy ford lincoln of rome (101 us-411, rome, ga 30161, (706) 235-4453) and the manufacturer were notified. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was not available.

The abs system isn't working properly, and the brakes are very spongy, making it unsafe to drive the car.this started when i was braking at 40 mph and hit a mild bump in the road triggering the abs to activate briefly.the brakes have been inconsistently spongy ever since, and not consistently spongy rendering the brakes unpredictable as well as intermittently unresponsive. The brake fluid is fine, the master cylinder is not leaking, and the brake pads and calipers are functioning properly.this appears to be an abs pump/actuator issue.

Two recalls one on drivers air bag. An one on the brakes! don't want to drive because last time they told me to park it on the passenger air bag. Recall is for the same injury or death! brakes r having to push all the way to the floor sometimes to stop. Afraid it will one time not stop all together.they tell me they can do nothing because no parts. What's can i do?

The brake went to the floor when driving thru wet surface. Abs problem, cannot stop the car in time.

Last month, in september 2018 i was parking my car, and braking to do so. I went over a small pot hole in the road. Later when i went to drive it the brakes were squishy and went to the floor to stop. This problem seemed to get better, but then last week i had another driver pull in front of me and had to drive off the road to avoid a collision as the brakes did not engage properly.now they go all the way to the floor to brake. I bought this car used back in june, asked the dealer representative about the brake issues when my airbag was fixed, and he said he knew nothing about it. The vehicle has 33,000 miles on it as the previous owner was an elderly woman. I know this is an abs issue. My mechanic told me there is an investigation but right now this would cost like 1000$. - and from what i am reading it could just happen again. Please do something. Thank you, [xxx]information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).

While driving normally on highway brakes failed , pedal went to floor no braking . Pumpedbrakes pedal height came back up and seemed to work normally after . Scared to death , no confidence in brakes . Happened today 2/27/2020 . Received recall notice on brakes last week . Needs fixed now

The contact owns a 2007 mercury milan. While driving approximately 60 mph, the brake pedal traveled to the floor when the brake pedal was depressed. There were no warning indicators illuminated. The contact stated that the same failure occurred three other times. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified. The approximate failure mileage was 138,000.

Light snow hit brake abs came on next stop pedal went to the floor could not stop right it an inter section all most got t boned no pedal goes to the floor car has only 40.000 miles so many people are saying this do something please i have to dive this car not safe i hope i don't kill any body or some one else does you should really take control of this

I was braking on a slippery road and the abs activated.the brake pedal then became very soft.if i pump the brakes the pedal then feels normal unitl any subsequent activation of the abs brakes and the pedal goes to the floor and the car is difficult to stop. The brake fluid level is fine and no brake lights come on - however in a panic stop this could lead to the vehicle not being able to stop.

While driving on april 29, 2016 the brake pedal suddenly went to the floor when attempting to brake on a city street. Car would still stop , but not very safely. Took car to mechanic. Mechanic bled and adjusted brakes, charging $35.00. On 4/7/17 the same thing happened. Will take back to mechanicalong with article from 12/27/16.

After abs engaged, brake pedal sunk to floor on subsequent stops. Found cause on internet. Concensus was that there is a defective abs hydraulic control unit. This is a big time safety issue. Dealer wants 1,000 dollars to replace. Ford should cover this repair as a recall.

The contact owns a 2007 mercury milan. The contact received notification on nhtsa campaign number: 19v904000 (service brakes, hydraulic) however, the part to do the recall repair was not yet available. The contact stated that the manufacturer exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The contact called nick mayer lincoln mayfield, 6180 mayfield rd, mayfield heights, oh 44124, and was informed that the part was not yet available. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue and informed the contact that the part will be available the first quarter of 2021. The contact had not experienced a failure. Vin tools confirmed parts not available.

Two incidents, both light rain days, traveling speed limit, on a city street - while driving i came upon a situation where i was required to quickly apply my brakes. Once brakes were applied, the car did not stop as soon as it should have and hit the other car. Afterwards, anytime i had to try to stop, the brake pedal had to be almost to the floor before it would stop. The first time, i took it to be looked at and was told that the brakes were fine. The second time, i was coming upon a light that was about to turn red. I put on my brake and the car once again did not stop in the time that it should have.i was almost in the middle of the intersection before the car stopped. I had already had my brakes and rotors looked at so i knew that it was neither of those.for the remainder of my drive, i had to press the brake almost to the floor before it would stop. When i drove it again after work, 8 hrs later, the brakes were back to normal.

When stopping on an icy/snow covered city street and the abs kicks in the brakes either stop working or become soft.in the winter of 2018 the brakes stopped working altogether, i had them serviced and was told the abs pump did not function properly.i had them serviced again today 2/28/19 and it was the same issue, abs pump did not function properly.

When the antilock brake system activates, the brake pedal goes to the floor causing a loss of braking.the only way i've found to stop the vehicle is to pump the brake pedal until the braking resumes. However, once the vehicle stops, the brake pedal will continue to go to the floor very easily. I would pull over, put the vehicle in park, then press the pedal down several times very firmly, continuing until the antilock brake system builds up pressure (or comes out of a fail mode). My mechanic has worked on other milan's having the same problem and after changing master cylinders and brake boosters, he said customers are reporting the problem still exists. Apparently there is a serious problem with the antilock brake system on this model vehicle. This has happened several times since approximately 2014 and only happens when the antilock brake system activates. The last time this happened was on january 3, 2019.

In two separate instances, i had to brake hard on slippery surfaces.both times the anti-lock brakes engaged and stopped me, but in each case the next time iapplied the brakes the pedal went soft, nearly touched the floor and the braking was less effective.in both instances the vehicle was in motion, on a street.

Following an abs event, the brakes fail immediately. The brake pedal goes completely to the floor. It is terrifying and highly dangerous. It has happened for years but only occasionally, but when it does you find yourself in a life and death situation. Following an incident the brakes start to work again. I brought it to the attention of my local dealership and they said, that they couldn't duplicate the situation. Look around the internet and there are many people who have experienced this problem, both on mercury milans and on ford fusions. The problem seems to be a faulty hcu (hydrolic control unit)

When driving on snow or ice or when the temperature is in the teens or single digits brakes will not work properly. Brake pedal will go down to the floor the first time you step on them but will work if you pump them a couple of times. Took the car to the dealer last winter when it first happened and they could not find anything wrong but now with a snow storm and very low temperatures the brakes are not working properly again.

The contact stated that while depressing the brake pedal at approximately 35 mph and attempting to stop at a red light, the brake pedal went all the way down to floor. The contact had to pump the pedal several times before the vehicle came to a stop. The contact also stated that the same failure recurred multiple times during cold temperatures or after driving over a bump in the road. The vehicle had been taken to an independent mechanic but the failure was unable to be duplicated. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 165,000.

Mushy brakes both while stationary and in motion ~ twice in 2016.front and rear brake pads were replaced on 01/18/2016.abs control module was replaced on 12/23/2016.

After the abs activates, the brakes go soft all the way to the floor and braking is difficult. It has happened on ice patches as well as hitting a rough patch of road. The malfunction makes driving incredibly scary as i do not know how long it will take to stop.

On 02-09-2017 i was on my way home from work and when i was slowing down to stop at a red light to turn right on a two lane rural highway that has the max speed of 55 is when the brake pedal started to feel like it was pulsating and spongy and then it went to the floor and i had to push the pedal harder to keep it from going into the intersection. I tried pumping it to see if it would bring the pedal bake up but it never did. And the brake pedal stayed that way until i got it home. There are no leaks of any kind from the brake system and i was told at the dealership that it sounded like it was the hydraulic control unit because they have had people come in before with the same problem.

I was driving about 20 mph on a dirt road, i stopped for a small animal.the vehicle stopped and the abs system activated.i started up and stopped a short distance later.the brake pedal became soft and sunk to the floor. When the brakes were pumped repeatedly they returned to normal.i took the car to the local ford dealer.they were unable to find the issue and the automobile behaved normally for them.i have driven this vehicle for about 24 hours since.it has behaved normally and i have had not activated the abs system since. After reading the dozen other reports on similar events on your site, i am filing this report.there are other reports of this type of incident, on the web. The automobile has 141,130 miles on it and is otherwise in good condition.

The contact owns a 2007 mercury milan. The contact stated while driving at 30 mph, the brake pedal was depressed but was firm. The contact stated that added effort was needed to depress the brake pedal. An unknown dealer was contacted and informed of the failure. The contact was informed that the brake drums needed to be replaced. The brake drums and calipers were replaced. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 110,000.

Brake pedal at times goes all the way to the floor and vehicle will not stop.this seems to occur after hotting a rut or pothole, or the abs system kicks in. Very unsafe to drive when this happens.

We got the recall letter for the 19s54 anti brake hydrolic control unit. We took my 2007 milan and they did the text and replaced the cap for the brake fluid. They did the test and said it past on june 26, 2021. On july 2, 2021 i hadno brakes. I had it towed to the ford dealer in forest grove oregon. The manager of service jeff said the hydrolic control unit failed. He let ford corporate know and gave him info. He asked for a work order number so he could order the part. Corporate has never gotten back to him. My husband has called corporate 2 times and the 2 different ladies we spoke with said they find it odd that this is being a problem. The second lady we spoke with tried to get us a manager on the line to speak to. None of them answered their phones. She called jeffat our for dealer and told him she could not get a manager to answer their phones or email. She told us someone would get back to us. The second call was on aug 12. How do we get this take care of?

Pulley bolt has broken off 3 times now within 1500 miles of driving the car.once driving on a city street, another time while sitting at a traffic light and the 3rd while on the highway going around a curve at higher speed.when the bolt breaks, it allows the pulley to be thrown around, and the serpentine belt to come off, resulting in loss of charging system, a/c system, and power steering system. The is a safety concern especially if you are traveling at high speed or turninga corner or going around a curve. My daughter could have had an accident if she had lost control of the vehicle while turning and having no power steering all of the sudden. Ford motor co.

Arrived at destination parking lot and driver door handle seemed to snap and unable to open the driver door.crawled over the center consul to exit the passenger side.locked car and when i returned i entered the passenger side and crawled over the consul to the driver seat.once i got home i repeated the same exit process and went around to open the driver door and once opened it did not close.had to bungie cord the door shut in the garage to turn off the courtesy lights and silence door ajar alarm.next morning immediately took it to dealer.drove carefully holding the door closed while i drove.door ajar alarm and light kept appearing.repair cost $167.96.10 days later the driver door failed again when i arrived home from work.this time i lowered the window and reached outside for the door handle and that worked to open the door and it seemed to close okay but next morning i returned to dealer and was then told it was a different issue and cost $335.45.i am concerned that this was related to the other issues i see about the door latch failing since 2010 on your site and other blogs and the recent recall and now extended recall.i am also concerned that the parts used for the repair may be compromised as well.this is too scary if it would happen to someone who couldn't get out of the car or have the door fly open or even try to drive holding onto the door to keep it shut.

While driving and going around a turn, exiting a parking lot the passenger side door flew open. After that the door would not latch shut. At this time the door must be held shut while driving.

The contact owns a 2007 mercury milan. The contact stated that the rear driver side door would not unlock. I started to back up out of my drive way and the coil spring on the front drivers side snapped and went through the tire. That side of the car collapsed and damaged the front end. The car had to be towed to the repair shop. I was told that this failure is a common occurrence with a ford product especially the taurus. This part is being recalled on the taurus. This same exact part is not being recalled on the mercury. I had to have the both right and left front coil springs replaced along with the sway bars and ball joints. The tire needed to be replaced. The total cost came to $1966.33. I am very fortunate that i was not on the highway when this happened.

Tire valves failed on my 2007 mercury milan.had to replace 2 tires and avoidedfurther tire damage when i had remaining tire valves replaced due to under-inflated tires.someone at ford is aware of this situation but apparently not their customer service or dealers.i believe the nhtsa has bee aware of this since 2008.you might want to follow up before we have another explorer/firestone type crisis.

I am a victim of the chinese valve stem issue with ford vehicles. Fortunately, i was traveling at a low speed when the tire went down. I puton the spare and drove home. When i got home i noticed the valve stem was cracked. I put in a new stem, and went to inflate the tire, only to find out that there was a hole in the sidewall, so the tire was no good. Today i looked at the rest of the wheels, and inspected the remaining stems, all were cracked. The car is a 2007, and was placed in service on march 2007 in syracuse, ny, and had 30,000 miles on it, with the original tires. I do mostly highway driving.

The car will lose speed and i have to try to get off the highway with out being slammed by other vehicles it is extremely dangerous and i have seen lots of people are having the same problem please fix this problem before we get killed

Car is sputtering and won't pick up rpm goes high but no one has been able to figure out a diagnosis

Passenger airbag warning light illuminated. Took car to ford dealership who diagnosed it as a sensor problem, and if not repaired could prevent the airbag from deploying.i have owned many cars and this is the first time, i've ever had a problem like this. After researching online, i saw there were numerous complaints for the same problem.is the nhtsa aware of these safety hazards and should a recall be implemented?

"takata recall"i am denied service for this defective airbag.

Went out to car to start before leaving to go to work notice that the car steering wheel would not turn. Got out the vehicle pop the hood of the car and seen that the belt had come off the pulleys the belt it's self was not broke but of the pulleys. This is the third time this has happen this year the first time i had to the car to jeffy lube to have it look at because the belt was squealing they check it out and i was told that the bolt had broke off and half of the bolt was still stuck in the hole. I had the bolt and pulley replace then. The second time i has sitting in my car with it on in parking lot and i heard something pop i got out pop the hood and notice the belt was off the pulley i had the car towed to a repair shop and was told the bolt that holds one of the pulleys was not fitting properly in the space where it belongs so it was loosening itself and the pulleys was coming a loose from its position allowing the belt to come off i had it fix. So there has to be a default problem with the pulley or bolt or the hole that the bolt goes in if the bolt keeps breaking off i'm tired of replacing the same problem every couple of months i have to pay for towing, labor and parts to repair shops i'm pretty sure this time it's the same problem i just hadn't had it towed to a repair shop today yet since it just happen i search to see if my car had a recall on this problem hadn't seen one yet

While driving, a wrench appeared on the instrument panel. When i looked it up, it was regarding the throttle transmission actuator. My car was losing power, bucking, and seemed like it was having issues changing speeds. I have researched this issue and found that ford agreed to fix these cars up until january 31, 2015 for free. They did not do a mass recall and i am now going to cll the dealerships to see if i can get it fixed for free.

Battery died in my 2007 mercury milan.after replacing the battery the throttle body malfunctioned.car would not accelerate and check engine light is on.

Electronic throttle body (etb) malfunction. Car revs but fails to catch. Check engine and wrench lights came on. Once car started moving pedometer did not work. Warranty on this part for 2009-2014 models has been extended to 10 years or 150,000 miles. The warranty should cover all model years as this is a potential problem before on vehicles manufactured before 2009.

While driving on the interstate my car lost the ability to travel at a safe and acceptable speed. The cars maximum speed was 30 mph on an interstate that has a required speed of 55mph. I was forced to pull over on the side of the road and have the car towed. This is a grave safety concern, especially since ford motor company knows exactly what the problem originates from. The car was then taken to a repair shop that found the problem to be a defective throttle body. Ford will replace throttle bodies in 2009 and up mercury milan's but not the 2007. The cars have the exact same throttle bodies! it is negligent on ford motor companies part to not offer to replace all throttle bodies in affected automobiles.

The contact owned a 2007 mercury milan. On october 13, 2007, while driving approximately 35 mph, the vehicle suddenly accelerated and crashed into a vehicle.

The contact owns a 2007 mercury milan. The contact stated that while traveling approximately 55 mph, the vehicle suddenly stalled. Was driving home on the expressway where the speed limit is 65 and vehicle wouldn't go over 55 with rpm's at 3000. All the while having the wrench idiot light on. Hoping there is recall because i can't afford a new vehicle or even for it to be fixed.

Driver was pulling into a parking space at the car dealer.vehicle was almost stopped when it surged forward and hit the corner of the dealership office building.

The contact stated that the engine reved and the speedometer fluctuated up and down from 0-120 constantly. The vehicle jerked back and forth each time the engine was started and when shifting into drive and reverse. The contact believed the throttle control cables were failing because, while idling, the vehicle reved up to 2 rpms. The vehicle was not diagnosed nor repaired. The failure mileage was 111,656.

My vehicle was undergoing its 90,000 mile service and the technician noted that the rear two tires were cracked at the tread-to-tire interface.the next day, i took the car to the tire shop that installed the tires for an evaluation.they determined that all four tires had this safety condition and were replaced on a prorated cost.it was as if the tire tread could become separated from the shell of the tire at any time.the tires are yokohama avid touring s model.had only 20,200 miles on them and only 2.67 years old.this could have been a disaster at high speed for my son or daughter had this not been noticed.the tires have not been abused and were rotated at 10,000 mile intervals.i was expecting these tires to last 60,000 miles.

The breaks when stopping the car continue to go ford ward and sometimes when stop you can feel air pushing down like it doses want to stop.
