Takata recall.pursuant to safety recall notice 18s01/nhtsa recall 18v046, we have not been able to drive our car since june 5, 2018, almost two months ago.although we now have access to a rental car, it is a problem not to have use of our own vehicle and is an ongoing inconvenience.when will the remedy be available?
The car was recalled on jun 01,2016manufacturer recall number16s26nhtsa recall number16v384summarythe frontal airbag inflator of my car could rupture if the vehicle is involved in a crash.it is very dangerous to me and my wife since we drive this car everyday.(this defect report is in response to takata dirs 16e-042, 16e-043, 16e-044.)after the whole year, i haven't heart anything from the manufacture at all.i also called their local dealership.they could not offer me any assistance at all.is the manufacturer going to sit on the recall until something happens on me and my wife?
Takata recall. The contact owns a 2010 mercury milan hybrid. The contact received notification of nhtsa campaign number: 16v384000 (air bags); however, the part for the recall repair was unavailable. Takata recall: i see in the nhtsa database that my vehicle was subject to a recall for the airbag inflator in june of 2016.i have not received any notification from the manufacturer nor have i been contacted to bring in my car for a replacement. This has now been 16 months since the recall.when can i have my inflator replaced?
The contact owns a 2010 mercury milan hybrid. After the contact charged his electrically operated vehicle, it would not operate in hybrid mode. The contact followed the directions in the owner's manual, but the hybrid mode remained non-functional. There were no warning indicators illuminated. The vehicle was taken to sheehy ford (901 n frederick ave, gaithersburg, md 20879, (301) 358-4443) to be repaired. The cause of the failure was not disclosed. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and did not assist. The failure mileage was 43,000. Consumer stated dealer and manufacturer did not know how to come up with a solution. Consumer claims the airbag and the storage caused the hybrid failure.
Was alerted that my left rear passenger tail light on my 2010 mercury milan hybrid was abnormally bright and that brake light did not change illumination level.took car to dealership and was informed that entire assembly was faulty and would need to be replaced for $600.i have an extended warranty, premiumcare ecp, and was told that this was not a warranty eligible item and is instead considered consumable because there are leds involved.there are no bulbs burned out, they are highly illuminated all the time due to a manufacturing defect.this is a safety issue, not a convenience issue.
I have a 2010 mercury milan. This has been an intermittent problem: sometimes the car feels like it does a hard gear shift--the wrench light comes on and the car loses power.i still have power steering and power brakes but pressing on the gas does nothing. If i turn off the engine and restart, it is fine--sometimes for a few minutes and sometimes for a few months.
The car would inexplicably stop during driving and display the red triangle with the message stop safely intermittently soon after the time it was bought. But upon turning it off it would restart. The dealerships did not find anything to fix. The red triangle display and sudden loss of power while driving defect steadily worsened and became so frequent that it interfered with driving. But each time the car would restart and drive. It was again reported to your dealership when it was brought in for service at about 48,000 miles. Again i was told that there was no problem. On june 6, 2014 the car completely died on a busy route. Two good samaritans behind me stopped and helped bring the traffic to a halt. Then they helped push the disabled car onto a driveway before proceeding on their way. I escaped serious injury or even death, which may well have resulted if this had happened on a freeway. The car had to be towed in as it became non-responsive with no possibility of restarting it. Ford clarified that the hybrid battery cable is too short for the engine/transaxle movement and causes the hybrid battery to be destroyed as well. Neither the hybrid battery nor the hybrid battery cable are covered by the various warranties for this defect according to ford.
The car was inside an attached garage with children buckled into their carseats. My husband was in the driver seat. I was standing outside the car waving bye to the kids. When my husband started the car, we heard an odd sound, then saw smoke and flame coming from between the carseats. We got the kids out, and i called 911 while my husband popped the trunk and put the garden hose on the flames. The hybrid battery was on fire. The carseat my son had been sitting in was burned through as well.
The contact owns a 2010 mercury milan hybrid. The contact stated that while traveling approximately 70 mph, there was a sudden loss of engine power and an abnormal noise coming from the vehicle. The contact mentioned that the accelerator pedal was depressed and failed to respond. The contact mentioned that the check engine light illuminated and the instrument panel failed intermittently. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 60,000. The vin was not available.

A few months ago, the speaker for the rear parking aid and cross-traffic warning system became muffled, followed by random flashing of two dash warning lights reading check rear park aid and cross traffic system fault. The basic warning systems still functioned. At a service visit to my ford dealer, the computer codes were read and system reboot was performed. As the dealer invoice states, if light comes back on will need parking aid module and speaker $567.00 plus tax.driving away from the dealer that day, the warning lights did come back on, and a week later, the two systems stopped working altogether, leaving just the constant back and forth of the two warning lights. (these warning lights also negate the dashboards coolant temperature gauge.) a call to the ford customer relationship center confirmed that no recalls were active for this problem, and as i knew, the car was out of warranty.
The contact owns a 2010 mercury milan hybrid. The contact stated that the plastic engine cover rubbed a hole through the high voltage wiring. The vehicle was taken to a dealer for an unrelated issue. The technician made the contact aware of the exposed high voltage wiring. The vehicle was not repaired and the manufacturer was notified.the approximate failure mileage was 63,000. The vin was unavailable.

Car was having no problems until 30 seconds after i put it in drive, the car started beeping and flashing the warning sign 'service advancetrac'in yellow letters and then a minute later it beeped and said 'service power steering now' in bold red letters. I parked my car at work and the steering wheel locked up and i couldn't get it to budge. Had to have my car towed.

The vehicle sporadically loses power and the "wrench" light goes on indicating a supposed engine problem.when the vehicle is turned off and restarted, the engine performs normally until the next time this sporadic failure occurs.it has repeated itself several times in the last few weeks, and the trouble code that has been logged is p2112, which relates to a throttle body failure.ford issued an extended warranty covering several model years and models (including 2010 mercury milans) with this style throttle body, and the warranty reportedly covers the repair and replacement up to ten years or 150,000 miles.for some reason, even though my car uses the same throttle throttle body as other affected milans, my vin number has not been included in the extended warranty, though it should be.now it seems that i am going to have to fight to get ford to cover this repair/replacement despite the fact that they have already acknowledged the problem on other, virtually identical, vehicles.any help you can provide would be greatly appreciated!

The contact owns a 2010 mercury milan hybrid. While driving at 50 mph, there was a sudden loss of acceleration. In addition, the check engine and maintenance warning indicators illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that the throttle body failed. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 86,000.
I was driving between 35-40 mph when all of a sudden i lost power. Although i subsequently had the accelerator to the floor, the vehicle reduced its speed drastically and could not exceed about 10 mph. I pulled over and the wrench indicator light came on. I was able to drive to a parking lot at very low speed and turned the vehicle off. When i turned it back on, it was responsive for about two blocks and the same symptoms reappeared. This time the wrench light and check engine light came on. Fortunately, i was a few blocks from a ford dealer. I very carefully was able to drive at a very slow unresponsive speed to the dealer.they replaced the throttle body but ford informs me it does not fall under their cust. Satisfaction #13n03 extended warranty program. Although it is the same symptoms, same year, same model, same diagnostic code, same failure and same part fix as the vin's that are covered in this program. Ford cannot tell me (or should i say 'will' not tell me) why my vin is not covered in their 'satisfaction' program. This was a $400 repair.
Was driving down the interstate at 65 mph, vehicle suddenly lost acceleration and engine and throttle/power train indicator lights illuminated on the dash.had to pull off on the side of the highway.i turned off the vehicle and turned it back on, i was able to drive the vehicle home at 40 mph, but the indicator lights remained on.
As i was driving down the turnpike about 65 mph car began to slow and would not accelerate past 40 mph even with gas pedal pressed fully - slow to pick up any speed after braking. Wrench lights came on dash. Very dangerous. I see this is an issue (throttle body)with later models too. Repair should be covered on this year as well.
My 2010 mercury milan hybrid was purchased new in june, 2010. In february, 2013, the rear, passenger side tail light went out. I tried to buy a replacement bulb at an auto parts store only to discover there was no replacement part number in their books for my car. On february 8, 2013, the dealership told me the entire rear light assembly had to be replaced because it was a sealed system. I was fortunate that the work could be done under warranty at that time. Then in jan., 2015, a driver who had been behind me, kindly told me that the driver's side rear brake light was on all the time. There are numerous posts on the internet describing both problems (bulb burn out and brake lights staying on). Again, the entire light assembly had to be replaced by the dealership, this time at my expense. The replacement costwas $547.59.on january 29, 2015, i phoned ford motor company to lodge a complaint and inquire about a recall on these inferior light assemblies, or monetary support from ford on this issue. I was told all complaints to the mfg. Are recorded and tracked, but the customer service rep. Was not aware of the problem. She could do nothing for me retroactively and suggested i call the dealership's service manager to see if he/she had any programs in place to help. (wouldn't those programs come from the mfg.??) i asked if the part had been redesigned and was told the dealership's service manager would have that information also.i then spoke to the dealership's service manager who told me the part number for the assembly has not changed, indicating the problems have not been addressed.it is totally unreasonable to have to pay almost $550. To change a failed tail light bulb, especially when the replacement assemblies have the same flaw and potential to fail again. I feel ford should correct the problem and recall the assemblies.
Rear led taillight malfunctions.cost to replace is nearly $400.00.this seems a very height cost to maintain a necessary and legally required piece of safety equipment.
My 2010 mercury milan hybrid was purchased as certified pre-owned in march 2013 in florida. Since it was certified pre-owned and it was also not required by florida to have any safety inspection, i never paid any attention to any lights.in april 2015, i took my car for a safety inspection, which is a requirement for a car to be registered in virginia, since i moved back to virginia.the car did not pass the va safety inspection because the driver's side rear brake light was on all the time.(i found there were numerous posts on the internet describing this problem -- brake lights staying on).the entire light assembly can only be bought from the dealership.i have to pay for it since i was told by the dealership the assembly was no longer covered by the warranty.the assembly replacement was $365.54 (after tax).i like to lodge a complaint against the ford company about a recall on this inferior light assemblies, and monetary support from ford on this issue.i feel ford should correct the problem and recall the assemblies.
While driving fellow motorist advised my left rear light not operating.visit to dealer confirmed and price to repair $400 plus labor.that seems a bit high to replace a light bulb!forget it i will drive until ticketed.however just before my 3 yr warranty was up it happened but on the right rear exterior.that incident was at no charge at the dealership.why both in such a short period of time with such a new car?
Was alerted that my left rear passenger tail light on my 2010 mercury milan hybrid was abnormally bright and that brake light did not change illumination level.took car to dealership and was informed that entire assembly was faulty and would need to be replaced for $600.i have an extended warranty, premiumcare ecp, and was told that this was not a warranty eligible item and is instead considered consumable because there are leds involved.there are no bulbs burned out, they are highly illuminated all the time due to a manufacturing defect.this is a safety issue, not a convenience issue.
While driving in traffic, going straight and on a slight incline, at approximately 55 m.p.h., car suddenly lost power and went into limp mode. Vehicle malfunction and engine lights illuminated and vehicle would not exceed 40-45 m.p.h. On level grades and 20 on slight inclines.managed to return car home. Took vehicle to dealer on 10/26/2015.when vehicle was restarted the malfunction light did not turn on and only the engine light remained illuminated. Car acted normal on trip to dealer. Told by dealer it was a throttle body issue. Researched and found out ford has extended coverage on this part for 10years and 150,000 miles. Ford bulletin 13no3. Was told by ford customer service hybrids were not covered even though it is the same part number.the coverage was based on where the car was manufactured and who the part supplier was. Oh really? they can tell me what specific part was taken out of the part bin and installed? this is a major safety issue and they should be made to cover all the vehicles exhibiting the same problem.or does it take a large injury or loss of life number to get this to happen. From what i am seeing, there are plenty of hybrids with the same issue.
While driving the vehicle on the highway on 9/2, the wrench warning light came on and the car lost power and started shaking. We had to dodge traffic to limp off the road and stopped the engine. Upon starting again, the warning light was cleared and we hesitantly drove home. We called the local ford dealership and were told that if the light came on again, to not shut off the engine and to drive directly to the dealership. The next day (9/3) my wife was driving the car alone and the warning came on again, she lost speed and the vehicle started shaking badly. She limped as safely as she to the dealership and was told she had to leave the car there because it was unsafe to drive. The following day (9/4) we were told that the throttle body (etb) needed to be replaced. Because we needed the car for a doctor's appointment and because the car was "unsafe to drive", we authorized them to replace the etb. After researching the issue, we found that the etb was exactly the same one that was part of the nhtsa investigation, which included the escape/ mariner hybrids, but surprisingly did not include the fusion/milan hybrids. To preclude a massive recall, ford launched a customer satisfaction program that blatantly excluded the fusion/ milan hybrids, even though they use the identical defective etb. As part of the customer satisfaction program, ford issued extended warranties of 10 yr/150,000 miles for the etb. Since the same defective etb was used in the 2010 fusion/milan hybrids, it poses the same safety issue as in the other "covered" vehicles. As such, it should be further scrutinized by the nhtsa and/or subsequently covered by the same ford customer satisfaction program. Ford cleverly conceded to the program to preclude a massive recall and then blatantly excluded 40,000 to 50,000 fusion/milan hybrids, that are equally defective and unsafe. Nhtsa, please help.
My 2010 mercury milan hybrid threw the wrench light twice last week. Both times, it lost nearly all power, and i had to come to a complete stop on the highway. My ford dealer determined it was the throttle body, forcing the vehicle into a software enforced limp mode. Upon doing some research i discovered that throttle bodies in milans, fusions, and other vehicles have been covered by customer satisfaction program 13n03 for 150,000 miles & 10 years. For somereason the hybrid model has been excluded from the program, including a software update to prevent the car from becoming dangerously underpowered if the old part failed. I have called ford twice, and been deeply dissatisfied with how my issue has been handled. They seem to have no idea why they excluded the hybrids, perhaps it was an oversight. The dealer has verified that the part that was replaced is the same exact part being supplied for customer satisfaction program 13n03. I paid nearly double and took a risk on buying an early ford hybrid. My car has about 1/3 of the miles and is only half as old as many cars with the same part that have received software updates and free replacements when required. My dealer has verified that the part that was replaced is the same part number being replaced under customer satisfaction program 13n03. It is dangerous for ford to not notify hybrid customers of the faulty part, and even more dangerous not to address it via software and if necessary replacement, as they have done with most all other cars using the part.

Yellow wrench light cured!!! ford repaired vehicle for free, as mercury milan hybrid is covered for 100,000 miles and 8 years under warranty. They replaced a pump for antifreeze for the hybrid transmission and that cured the problem of the yellow wrench and the throttle body failure code. All is well!

The contact owns a 2010 mercury milan hybrid. The contact stated she was unable to open the front driver's side door. The contact stated she had to open the window to open the door using the outside door handle. The vehicle was taken to local dealer asheboro ford, inc. As i was driving, chime sounded and service power steering and service advancetrac message displayed and warning lights illuminated. I pulled over and turned off vehicle and did a quick check under hood and under vehicle. When i found nothing i restarted vehicle and proceeded to re-enter roadway, chime once again sounded and service power steering now and service advancetrac now messages and lights illuminated but now all power assist to steering was lost making for a very dangerous situation.
Driving 65 mph on interstate; car stopped accelerating, starting dropping in speed. Pressed accelerator until on floor, would not accelerate, only continued decreasing in speed."wrench" indicator appeared on vehicle electronic dashboard.stopped. When turned off and back on wrench was gone, car would accelerate, but seemed to be "missing". Took to dealer for regular oil change and maintenance, asked them to check.they didn't find anything.4 days after getting it check same problem occur ed.then 2 days after that it occurred again, and besides "wrench" light the "service engine soon" light illuminated.took car into dealer, it is still there.dealer said the throttle body is bad, and it is not covered.i found where ford has had multiple problems with this, and issued warranty extensions on mercury milan, and other vehicles, from 2009-2013, but they are not sure it applies to my vehicle.seriously?sounds conspicuous that my car would have that very problem but it wouldn't be an "issue" that needed recalling/or fixing under warranty!
While merging into traffic on the interstate, my car (2010 mercury milan hybrid) suddenly lost power and displayed the "check engine light" as well as the "wrench symbol light". I activated my emergency lights and exited the interstate at the next exit. After turning off the car and waiting for 5 minutes, i restarted the car. Only the check engine light was still displayed. After testing the power of the car in the parking lot and it seemed okay, we went back on the interstate to return to our hotel. After researching the problem on the internet and finding multiple incidents similar to our problem, we looked for an area ford dealer to repair the car (we were on vacation over 500 miles from home.) the next day while driving to the ford dealer for repair, the car did the same thing - while merging into traffic on an interstate, the car lost power and would not accelerate and displayed the wrench symbol. The check engine light had never gone off since illuminating the day before. After stopping the car along the interstate and turning it off and back on, the car had adequate power for the remaining trip to the ford dealer. The diagnosis at the dealer was a faulty throttle body failure. The service manager said my car's vin was not included in ford's customer satisfaction program 13n03 even though it was similar age/model of the other cars in the program. I believe my car should be included in this program. The situation caused by the throttle body failure could lead to severe injury or death while driving on an interstate.
At 71,000 miles vehicle developed failure of electronic throttle body.this lead to car entering "limp home" mode.occurred in busy traffic exposing passengers to potential risk - no injury occurred.ford has acknowledged etb defects in 2010 milan via their customer satisfaction program 13no3.however this program does not apply to hybrids.event being reported to lend credence to potential that issue also extends to hybrid model(s).

2 brake warning lights appeared on dash. Brake pedal soft and went to floor. Very little braking power . Almost rolled through intersection.76 year old lady (my mother) terrified to drive the car.taking to dealer tomorrow.

I was driving on the highway when my power steering and traction assist failed.a warning indicating that i service the power steering immediately appeared.indicator lights for both power steering and traction control appeared.upon turning off and restarting the vehicle the problem did not resolve.
Power steering failed while driving in neighborhood at 30 mph. The power steering gear assembly and tie rods were replaced 3 months/3,000 ago for the same exact failure. There needs to be a recall for the milan 2010 for this issue just like there is a recall for the milan 2011 and fusion 2011/2012. See initial complaint # 11081366.
Service steering now light came on while driving, then the steering wheel locked. Had to have car towed to repair shop. It cost me $1780 to repair. Recall on the 2011 but not the 2010, sad situation.

My steering assist stopped working when i was parking my vehicle.i'm fortunate that no cars were next to where i was parking because the car went into the next parking spot without my control.i see that 2011 mercury milan have been recalled for this reason.i was in motion when this happened.
Got service power steering now & service advancetrac warnings and lost power steering and lost power steering. There were no previous warnings to the effect indicating service prior to fault. It was a sudden event that could have caused an accident or death if someone not as strong as i was driving.i was able to muscle the car to keep it within the lanes and drive safely back home.
I started the car, backed up and suddenly i had no power steering. No warnings just unable to budge the steering wheel. Car is still sitting at a restaurant . If this happened to anyone while driving there is no way they could control this car! there is a recall on this issue with 2011 milan but not 2010 but there have been numerous complaints of this issue. Someone is going to get hurt or worse if ford doesn't fix this. The 1700 plus repair is impossible for most of us!!!
While driving on freeway, warning light came on to have power steering serviced.no problem steering the car at that time, but after stopping and turning off engine, the power assist had been disabled and i could not steer the car.managed to get it to a dealer in senaca falls, ny, who reset the system, but could not find cause and he refused to charge me for the work, as i was traveling across state and he did not want liability if something happened.i am concerned about defect in steering and the risk that this could happen to me while driving.
I was driving about 30mph on a straight city road & the steering became difficult. The message about service power steering came on, but it seemed like the steering changed before the message popped up. I was required to drive at a very slow pace to be able to keep the car in control. I was close to home & just went back there to park.i am concerned that the 2011 model had a recall & wonder why the 2010 model was not included. I don't recall 2011 being a big model change year for the milan. I think they have similar power steering systems & coving 2010 may want to be considered.i have an estimate of $350 to diagnose the problem. The fix is most likely another $1500 or more.

While driving approximately 40 mph, the dashboard showed a message that the power steering system needed to be serviced and the power steering suddenly stopped working making it extremely difficult to steer the vehicle.
When driving on the expressway, the steering was jerky and sticking.i got an error message saying "service power steering" and "service advancetrac".today, when i went to start the car, i have the message says "service power steering now" and the wheel will not turn.
As i was preparing to exit a parking lot, driving at a slow rate of speed and turning, the driver side door swung open unexpectedly. I was still in the parking lot when this happened. I pulled over to shut the door, but it would not latch at first. It took a few tries to finally get it to latch. Later that evening when my husband came home from work, he noticed the same door was open, as my car sat parked in the driveway. Again, it took a few tries for him to get it to latch closed.
When firefighters arrived, they sprayed fire retardant foam on the car and pushed it out of the garage. The fire burned through the back seat on the passenger side. The carseat my son had been sitting in was burned through as well.

Yellow wrench light came on, indicating a throttle body problem. Car lurched and accelerated erratically, particularly when going up hill while the engine was laboring. Mechanic was unable to find diagnostic codes.he cleaned the fuel injection system, but that had no effect on the problem. The yellow wrench appears after 10 minutes of driving, andthe car lurches and continues to accelerate erratically. What am i to do? i feel that this is hazardous issue with this car and i notice i am not the on lo y one to have this issue. Please have ford issue a recall and pay retroactively for any repairs i have to make. Thank you for your consideration.
