The contact owns a 2009 mercury mariner. While the contact was driving approximately 25 mph, an opposing vehicle unexpectedly drove into her lane causing a head on crash. The contact suffered a pinch nerve in the neck area and body bruises from the seat belt. The air bags failed to deploy with the substantial impact. The vehicle sustained severe front end damage and was towed to an impound facility temporarily. The manufacturer was notified of the defect. The approximate failure mileage was 39,000. The vin was unavailable.

We purchased a vehicle from a family member that they had purchased from auto source in woods cross, utah (who specializes in rebuilding totalled vehicles).we recently took the vehicle in for work to be done on it, and the repair shop said that the seat belt tensioner had not been replaced in the vehicle, and the air bag system had been rigged to not trigger the airbag light to come on and that the module on it was bad, which may cause the airbags to possibly not deploy.they let me know that it is illegal for either of these things to be tampered with.i know that my brother-in-law did not tamper with either of these 2 items.it seems that this company is taking shortcuts with safety items that they have no business tampering with and then re-selling them to the public.i asked them to work with us to fix the issue and they are completely unwilling to even correct the issue.the vehicle airbag lights randomly go on and off (stationary and in motion) as we have not been able to replace the module yet.we had no idea the seatbelt tensioner was even missing.

The contact owns a 2009 mercury mariner premier. The contact stated that the passenger air bag illuminated while he was driving. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer several times. The dealer removed the passenger seat and replaced the air bag sensor. The failure continued. The contact called the manufacturer who offered no assistance. The failure mileage was 16,804 and the current mileage was approximately 21,000.

Air bag on the passenger side turns off and on when daughter age 34 weight 120 sets in the seat. Dealers agrees that it is not working. Mercury dealer and ford was unable to fix the problem and state that this is normal and any further investigation would be at my cost. This has been a problem since purchase, car now has 8000 miles and has been at the dealer for a total of 16 days.

While traveling approximately 35 mph, driving in a straight line on a city street in traffic, the abs abruptly applied the brakes - hard! the abs light came on and a "check brake system" warning message was displayed. Also, the electrical system shut down and the engine lost power. After about 5 seconds, power was restored and vehicle was able to proceed. This occurred approximately 8 times over a two mile distance. During the last 4 times, the engine died, lost power completely, and needed to be turned off and restarted to continue. This failure was a dangerous safety hazard. Vehicle was towed to albuquerque lincoln volvo. The problem was diagnosed as a failed abs module, 9l8z. The dealer replaced the abs module with a faultly module. A second abs module was installed and the vehicle was deemed repaired. The dealer did not return the defective part for analysis.

Fan blower motor only worked on 3rd and 4th setting. The blower motor resistor assembly(part no. 8g1z*19a706*a) was diagnosed and replaced by dealer.

The wrench light on the dash appeared and the power steering shut off while the car was in motion. The car still operates afterwards, but the wrench light is still on and steering is incredibly difficult especially at low speeds.

Loss of power steering 90% of driving time

While driving the vehicle's dash lights and head lamps go black for 2-5 minutes before coming back on. My car was taken to the dealer multiple times and was unable to be diagnosed. I also contacted ford directly as this problem poses a hazard during night driving. To date there has been no resolution.while driving the vehicle will lose all acceleration, this issue happens while driving down the road posing a hazard as you have to turn the vehicle off an on again to regain control.

This is the fourth time since purchasing the car at carmax in october 2012 that the car has "shut off" without warning at low speed when close to parking or driving slow--without rhyme nor reason--i had it diagnosed at carmax to no avail, then cherokee ford to no avail (where i purchased a new battery), then at christian brothers auto where they replaced the spark plugs and coil.( i have an extended warranty so my cost was 200dollars) the problem continues.i have done research and see the throttle body is most likely the culprit and a safety alert is on the web from consumer report and ford forum and north carolina safety board---i am having the trottle body replaced at my expense--my daughter drives this vehicle and i want it safe! apparently this involves this model 2009-2012.

Rear hatch will not open because electric actuator has failed again, therefore the spare tire cannot be accessed on the side of the road.it's been replaced once already.this is a obvious safety issue.

The vehicle stalls randomly.i may be driving or idling and the car stalls.it is easily started again by putting the car in neutral and turning the key.i have had ford look at it several times and they first changed the battery and then second changed the gas filter.the problem still exists.

My mercury mariner 2009has had issues for the past year in regards to the vehicle unexpectedly goes into "limp home mode" at reduced power, like while sitting at traffic light or stop sign. Also, the wrench light will go on while driving and i loseacceleration power. I can push the gas pedal down and nothing happens, the engine is still on but no acceleration power.i will coast until i can get to a safe spot to have to power it off and then restart it. This is very dangerous while driving in rush hour back and forth to work each day. The car lags whenacceleratingand also pumps while when coming to a stop. I do not feel safe in the car and wish i had never bought it. I can't even make a trip to the store without worrying about the wrench coming on or it going into limp mode.

While in motion the car will stall causing me to pull off to the side of the road, turn the car off, then back on in order for it to work again. This happens every 10-15 miles and its really unsafe! i believe it is a defective throttle body and needs to be fixed asap before i can continue driving it.

Vehicle suddenly loses power steering assistance while driving. If the ignition key is cycled the power steering assist may function again. The affected component was determined to be the power steering control module (pscm) within the steering column. A recall was issued for this in 2014, however only the software was updated when the vehicle was brought in for repair. The malfunctioning components were not replaced and the issue has returned.

The contact owns a 2009 mercury mariner. While driving on an incline at an unknown speed, the vehicle suddenly decelerated and would not accelerate when the accelerator pedal was pressed. The service engine light illuminated prior to the failure. The vehicle stalled and was able to be restarted. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that the electronic throttle control failed. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified. The vin was unavailable. The failure mileage was 118,000.

Problem started in december 2015, and got progressively worse. Engine would not start when ignition switch was turned to the start position.had to make several attempts at it, and apply downward force on the key until the necessary contact was made.once started it seemed to run normal.ford dealer diagnosed the problem as a defective "ignition lock cylinder housing".they replaced it with a new one, part number 9l8z*3511*a.engine starts normally now.total cost to me $527.74.

The contact owns a 2009 mercury mariner. The contact stated that while driving approximately 10 mph the oil and battery warning indicators illuminated and the vehicle stalled. The vehicle restarted but the failure recurred on 2 other occasions.the vehicle was not taken to the dealer. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. Also, the contact stated that the vehicle would not start after the anti theft device warning indicator intermittently illuminated. The vehicle was not taken to the dealer. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and advised the contact to have the vehicle towed to the dealer to have the computer reprogrammed. The approximate failure mileage was 87,000.updated 4/21/15

Stopped to eat and keys would not come out of the ignition.

After going through a car wash, i received a warning on the dash that there was a problem and that i should find a safe place to stop.when i returned home and stopped the car it would not restart. The same thing happened on february 16,2013, again after going through a car wash.the local dealer was able to get the vehicle running, but would not say that it was repaired.

I was on my way home in my 2009 mercury mariner and my car started slowing down and was acting as though it was going to cut off. There was nowhere immediately to pull off and it was a very dangerous road. Finally after 5 minutes of praying and trying to keep going (very slowly) i made it to pull over. I turned off the car and started again and was able to make it home. I am reading online where this happens often to these makes and model. Its a throttle module issue. I am going to take it to the dealership in town tomorrow, but i honestly am very disappointed and disgusted that i may have to pay for a issue that seems to be common in this car. I bought the ford because it was american made and i felt it would be dependable. I am very discouraged. I usually try to stick with the brands i find to be the best and when purchasing in the future, i am unsure i can trust ford if there are known issues with vehicles but nothing done about them for its customers. It like buy and good luck.

I purchased my 2009 mercury mariner in 2015! recently, as i was unaware of the recall with ford a few years back, i've had front and rear bearing issues! also my ballpoints were defected and my control arms! my tire pressure sensor fault stays on! i've taken my 2009 mercury mariner to star tire's best one auto & tires and had my ballpoints, front and rear bearings, control arms, and front wheel alignment repaired totaling in $780! three days later on the date of 11/11/2017, my power steering assist fault came on! my 2009 mercury mariner was stationary and was extremely difficult to turn!

Mercury mariner (2009) v6 4wd. Has stalled twice. 1. While driving at 35 mph. It stalled and was able to restart once the vehicle stopped on the side of the road. We took it to a ford dealer and the throttle body was replaced. 2. Stalled when slowing to a stop. This was after the throttle body was replaced on 10/13/2017. Only driven about 500 miles. Both times vehicle was going down a country road.

About four weeks ago i had noticed that the gas pedal of my car was acting strangely; occasionally, as i was trying to accelerate from a stopped position it wouldn't work, or "catch," right away, and i would have to push down increasingly hard until it moved. I had an appointment at my local dealership when i was driving home one friday, stopped at a stop light to turn left, and it stalled. I brought it in the following monday morning and after a couple hours the service advisor and technician told me i needed a new throttle body. They tested it and said they could see it "sticking." however, and this is where my complaint comes in, they told me a new part wouldn't come in right away as it was on backorder and there were 48,000 orders besides mine! it has since been 3 weeks since that visit with no new part and no expected date, and the service advisor told me today when i called that there were close to 750,000 orders for this throttle body because it's the same part used in many different vehicle make and models. Regardless, my car is progressively getting worse. When i push the gas pedal i more frequently get no action and at times it now also accelerates unnaturally fast, almost jumps, then quickly returns to normal. Yesterday the pedal required so much force before the car moved that i thought it had stalled on me again, only this time while i was driving it. The dealership has told me that they have no idea when the part could come in and cannot give me a loaner car for an unlimited amount of time, so until then i am driving around in unreliable vehicle, never quite sure how it's going to act. It infuriates me that there are so many of these parts on back order, and yet a recall was never issued. Had there been a recall when the other thousands of people had issues i would not have to sit around waiting, while feeling like i'm putting my own life in danger.

While driving down the road anywhere from 20-55 mph, the car seems to stall out and the accelerator no longer works. You have to pull over and shut the vehicle off and it will start again. Sometimes the same problem will occur again within seconds, minutes, or days later.

While driving 65 mph in metro dc rush hour traffic, the vehicle suddenly lost power (engine still running but no acceleration).i had to cross over 4 lanes of traffic to reach the shoulder (very dangerous).i turned the vehicle off and restarted (sounded like it was "flooded").i took the vehicle to the dealer for evaluation today, but came across many common complaints online regarding this exact issue and also learned that nhtsa was conducting an investigation.i just wanted to add my case to this issue.this could be a very serious and dangerous problem as it happens at high speeds and the vehicle slows rapidly.

While driving, my suv completely stalled and stopped running. I turned the vehicle off and restarted it and it then it went. This happened continuously. I called the dealer where i purchased the car, benson lincoln mercury, in pittsburgh, and the service advisor told me that he didn't know what it could be making it stop running. My husband works in the automotive industry and it happened when he was driving the car and the "check engine" light came on. He put it on the computer and received the code, p-2111 "throttle actuator system stuck open." it seems that many other people are having this issue too. In april, the dealership put a computer "update" in my car. Could this have an impact. I should not have to pay for a part for my car, when this is obviously a defect of which the manufacturer is aware.

While driving the auto just stopped and the check engine light came on and stayed on.i turned the auto off and restarted.it did this three times before i arrived back home.took it to have a diagnostic test on the engine and code p2111 - throttle actuator stock open was the results.this is the second time this happened.the first time was 2 or 3 months ago but the check engine light did not come one.

This actually first occurred on friday. I was traveling on the thruway at about 65mph when the car felt almost like it downshifted and then i totally lost acceleration and the wrench light appeared on the dash. I limped to the side of the road and the car jerked and sputtered before i shut it off. After a few minutes i restarted the vehicle and it sounded like it was flooded at first then it turned over normally. I was an hour from home and made it back without further incident. I took it to the dealer the next morning and it did not show any codes. They suggested i replace the purge valve, and as i had a busy week of work related travel scheduled i went ahead and had them do it for $120. Better safe than sorry. Right? today i get an hour from home and it happens again. I call my dealer and they suggest i find the closest ford dealer and take it there immediately. Closest ford dealer couldn't take me for 2 weeks!! i was an hour from my destination, so i decided to chance it. I drove about 20 minutes and it happened again. Same exact scenario. I started it again, got back on the road and drove 10 minutes and again, except this time the engine light also came on. I called roadside assistance and was towed to a garage. I am 2 1/2 hours from home and driving a rental. Garage will diagnose and hopefully fix tomorrow. Service tech said if he had to diagnose without a code he would say throttle body! it also sounds like this is not covered by my 5 year/60k warranty either. With all of the similar stories i have read online ford needs to be forced to do a recall and reimburse us all for our expenses.

After coming to a stop at a light or stop sign, as i accelerate my car jumps/jerks as if it's straining to switch to next gear. Generally happens when accelerating between 10-40 miles. When it initially started it would happen 1-2 times a week.now it happens every day. I have an appointment schedule to have dealer look at vehicle.

Car went into "limp mode" twice within a 3 mile span while doing approx 50mph on a country road.both times, stopping and restarting the engine allowed normal operation.5 days prior, the car also stalled twice.once while pressing the gas from a complete stop, the other while pressing the gas just before coming to a complete stop (traffic signal went from red to green).this is happening less than 10 days after i had vct solenoids replaced that were causing the check engine light to come on.

I was leaving work and driving down a road at about 50mph when all of a sudden my car jumped and i then was coming up to a red light so i was braking and behind a car.at the red light i was a few inches from hitting the car because my car kept jumping forward.i then got scared and turned my car off and back on and it was driving fine.then all of a sudden it did the same thing and i couldn't accelerate i would press on the gas and my car was just shaking and losing speed and wouldn't move.thankfully i didn't drive the highway home that day.

Update to 01/30/13 complaint. I purchased car on 10/22/12 with 58,398 miles from a dealer. I started having issues late december 2012. I was having problem with car jerking into gear or being sluggish when accelerating. I took car todealer on 01/29/13. Researched carfax information and found out that on 01/05/10 - transmission flushed and stated as replaced. 18,588 miles. 08/09/10 - transmission was removed to replace cooler. 28,372 miles. On 01/29/13 mechanic advised that transmission was leaking badly and that "press regulator valve sticking".01/30/13 - transmission valve body replaced. 63,356 miles. 6 weeks after valve body replaced car started jerking again. Took car to dealer on 03/18/13...dealer suggested replacement of transmission, but extended warranty company said no...would only pay for transmission rebuild. 65,951 miles. This entailed day and half of dealer/warranty company haggling over repairs. Mechanic began work on 03/21/13 and found lots of melted plastic that he had to remove. Transmission work completed on 03/23/13 but repair revealed starter problem.dealer currently waiting on approval from warranty company to repair starter. Mechanic advised if starter not repaired will cause fly wheel problem. Mechanic is annoyed that transmission is having problems so soon after2010 "repairs" and that warranty company refused to replace transmission.

My 2009 mercury mariner (has 56,000 miles), without any warning, it just shut off while i was driving it. Has happened twice. Was able to get the side of the road and was able to restart it.no warning lights came on at all.car is at dealership now to have it checked out.

My 2009 mercury mariner stalls while its idle, at a intersection or just waiting. It stalls then i started up right after it stalls.

Vehicle will stall when at a red light to long or if you speed up to pass a vehicle then i have to wait 15 minutes or longer to move again then only i few feet at a time and it cuts off again.

The contact owns a 2009 mercury mariner. The contact stated that while driving 70 mph, there was a sudden loss of engine power without warning. The vehicle was towed to a dealer where it was diagnosed that the throttle body needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The vehicle was repaired. The approximate failure and current mileage was 50,000.

The contact owns a 2009 mercury mariner. The contact stated that while driving approximately 25 mph, the vehicle hesitated and lunged forward as the engine warning indicator illuminated. The contact powered the vehicle off and back on and drove the vehicle without incident, however, the failure recurred approximately two weeks later. The contact powered the vehicle off and back on, however, the vehicle failed to accelerate. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic and was diagnosed that the throttle actuator needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 89,000.

Vehiclerandomlyand suddenly loses power on highway. Dashboardlights up, have to pull off road turn off and wait a short time then resumes normally. Possiblythrottle body problem.

The contact owns a 2009 mercury mariner. The contact stated that while driving various speeds, the vehicle stalled on several occasions with the illumination of the check engine light. The vehicle was not repaired and the manufacturer was notified. The approximate failure mileage was 75,000.

While entering interstate highway, engine balked like bad gas.after two or three tankfuls and the vehicle dying in traffic, i left it with my dealer to find the problem.after a week, the vehicle had not died for them so i brought it home, only to continue with the same dying and hesitating when accelerated.a month or so later the dealer kept it again for about 5 days and it still did okay for them.they have no idea what the "problem" is.we have parked the car in our garage because several times we have narrowly escaped being rear-ended, when turning corners, crossing railroad tracks, etc.i contacted ford motor co. In michigan and they do not "have this problem with other vehicles" and don't seem to know what i'm talking about.mechanics in two other garages have driven the vehicle and have not located the problem.help!!

Car stalls and/or otherwise looses motive power at all speeds (start-up, low speeds, as well as, mid and high speeds) causing dangerous situations on the highways. The part (electronic throttle body) needed for this repair was originally back-ordered 7-8-2013 with expected delivery date of8-7-2013. Now the expected fulfillment date is 9-23-2013. This is an incredibly longtime to wait to havea car fixed. Can anything be done to expedite this unrealistic time line. How many of these failures do they have? is a recall warranted?

When pulling up to a stop sign the car just stopped next time coming off interstate to stop the vehicle kinda of lunged the next tine it just tried to stall had to put in neutral and keep foot on gas to keep it running.

10/12/13 - traveling on highway with the cruise control set at 70mph the engine just shut off. I coasted to the side of the road, put it in park, waiteda minute or two, then started the car. It ran without incident for 20 minutes until i reached home.10/15/13 traveling on highway 60mph the engine just shut off. I shifted into neutral and tried to start it, but it would not respond. I coasted across two lanes of traffic to the side of the road, put it in park, waiteda minute or two, then started the car. It ran without incident for 20 minutes until i reached home.10/17/13 ford dealership could not find anything wrong with the vehicle. Nothing in the codes. Replaced the relay switch10/18/13 traveling on market street in youngstown, ohio at a speed of 30mph the engine shut off. I coasted in to the center turn lane, put it in park, waited a minute and started the car. The vehicle is riding more rough and sputters now and then. Drove for 10 minutes in city traffic without incident10/18/13 while driving 45mph in rural area the engine shut off. I pulled to the side of the road, put the car in park and started the engine. This was the first time i notice a yellow wrench light on in the lower left portion of my dashboard. Car rides rough and sputters a bit.after all these multiple incidents in a short period of time i refuse to drive the car. It is not safe to drive and is not dependable. The engine shuts off without warning at all speeds, but on the highway without warning is unacceptable.

The contact owns a 2009 mercury mariner. The contact stated that while driving approximately 70 mph, the vehicle decreased in speed to 20 mph independently without warning. The vehicle was able to restart. The vehicle was taken to a dealer for diagnostic testing and the throttle body was replaced. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 72,000.

The contact owns a 2009 mercury mariner. The contact stated that while driving at 45 mph, the throttle body failed and there was a sudden loss of acceleration. The contact applied force to the accelerator pedal and it did not respond. The contact was not included in nhtsa action number: pe13003 (engine). The vehicle was taken to the dealer but was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 61,000.

Driving along at 40 mph and the vehicle started slowing down.giving it more gas had no impact. I noticed a wrench light illuminated on dash.after sitting for a few minutes the vehicle was restarted and ran fine . This happened again a few weeks later so we brought it to our repair shop.after some research it appeared that others had the same issue and that replacing the throttle body may be the issue. The part was replaced and we didn't have the issue for months until it happened again.it's been a total of 5 times it has happened. Really worried that this will happen on the highway where there is higher risk of an accident.not sure what to do next.sure seems like many others have this issue.does ford have a solution for this??if they do they should issue a recall before someone is hurt badly.

2009 mercury mariner engine stalls, surges then no acceleration.coast to side of road, while trying to not get rear-ended. Engine still runs, is extremely rough. After turning the ignition off, then wait and restart, runs okay.this has happened on many occasions in past month and half. I contacted ford dealer and service guy says it is most likely the throttle body starting @ $500 repair not covered under the warranty. Happens at any speed. From start or just while driving. First incident 5-31-2013.

My truck stalls. I purchased a new battery, and it continues to stall while driving or idling.

On 1/1/2016 i was driving on 495 w in queens, ny heading back to manhattan where i live. Out of nowhere the car began jerking, a wrench light on the dash panel came on (which i never saw before) and i could tell the car was decelerating. I tried hitting the accelerator again, the car would jerk, the engine was revving but was barely moving. I knew i had to pull over and luckily i was able to navigate to the shoulder of the road. This was an extremely dangerous situation. I am a confident driver, however, a less confident or timid driver most likely would have panicked and gotten into a potentially serious collision.

The vehicle has stalled while in motion 6 times now, while stopped 3 times. Stalled once while driving upwards of 40 mph. I had to stop in the middle of the street, put emergency blinkers on, and restart the car. Vehicle seems to spontaneously falter in acceleration and loses power. Turning off ignition and restarting engine fixes the problem but it will then reoccur at an unknown time. Some incidences have been in the same day, others have been up to a week apart.

Tool light comes on and car loses power in traffic, very, very dangerous. Dealership updated with computer but vehicle is still doing it. Please do a recall ford.

2009 mercury mariner. Ihad just pulled into the store parking lot the car was in park but running. When all of a sudden it cut off lights on dash board came on...i was able to restart the car on the way home every stop light i stopped at the car would cut off...took to auto repair shop they diagnosed it but nothing came up on machine. Car ran fine for the rest of the day. On the way to work that monday the car stop in the middle of the road i was able to coast over the wrench icon lite came on. Cut the car off started it back up and drove to work....now the car is doing it every 5-10 miles stopping wont let me accelerate and the wrench icon is coming on....this is very dangerous......this needs to be recalled. If everyone is having the same problem......

The contact owns a 2009 mercury mariner. The contact stated that while at an intersection making a left turn, the power steering failed. The check engine warning light illuminated. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 125,000. The vin was not available.

Throttle body stuck open

Power of vehicle drastically decreased while driving down secondary road. Had just enough power to pull over to side of the road. Pushed down accelerator in park and neutral but no power. Turned off. Restarted and resumed normal driving. Suspect electronic throttle body. The ford dealership will not replace without a diagnostic fee because they state it is not a recall, although an internal vehicle health report states "there are recalls for your 2009 mercury mariner at this time"notice # 13n03 electronic throttle body extended coveragei believe using the word recall constitutes misrepresentation when in fact ford motor company states it is just a customer satisfaction program to alleviate them from costs and any wrong doing.it is a very dangerous safety concern.

The contact owns a 2009 mercury mariner. While driving approximately 55 mph, the vehicle began to shutter, the engine stalled, and the service sensor light illuminated. Five minutes later, the engine was restarted and the failure recurred after approximately fifteen minutes. The failure occurred on multiple occasions. The cause of the failure was not diagnosed. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 79,000.

Whileiwas driving on hwy doing 75mph my mercury mariner 2009 it suddenly loss power and (while engine was running) i could not accelerate."tool" light came on. I could not do anything to regain speed (accelerator was disable) and the only fix was to shut down the engine and re-start. Vehicle will start and work normally i took to the mechanics the next day he said that no codes came up.

Engine died while driving with engine and wrench light coming on. Took to dealer and found dtc code p2111 when troubleshooting. Dealer found internal fault with throttle body. Replaced throttle body and have not had problem since.

The vehicle suddenly looses power and accelerator is unresponsive. This first occurred with approximately 33,000 miles while still in warranty and dealer replaced throttle body. Vehicle was fine until november of 2013 with about 80,000 miles. This is very dangerous because vehicle goes down to idle speed and with no power, it's very hard sometimesto get to the shoulder of the road with only coast control of vehicle. This should be a recall issue as i'm aware of the many others having same problem. I'm making this complaint to try and have this issue resolved before something tragic happens and also to document this safety issue.

While driving, the vehicle started losing power and the wrench light came on; stopped and had a hard time cranking but was able to go on. 2nd time pulling onto a busy street, same incident, able to get to center lan and recrank this time surging forward but gained control and went on, very unnerving situation, scared to drive long distances.

Test driving vehicle and i could not accelerate. Dealer said he would fix problem.

Check engine light came on while driving 55 mph on the freeway on 8/11/14.no signs of malfunction initially.later the check engine light went off on 8/13/14.took mariner to firestone auto care to diagnose check engine light.they told me it was p0022 - vct solenoids, but the engine was still running fine.they reset the computer and told me the next time the check engine light comes on to take it into a dealership.so the check engine light comes back on by 8/17/14.started noticing shuttering between 50-60 mph on 8/22/14.took car into dealership on 8/27/14.was told that the vct solenoids needed to be replaced at approx. $620 and this car only has 29k miles on it and of course is out of warranty.there is a service bulletin on replacing the vct solenoids but of course no recall has been issued.a recall should be issued and i should receive reimbursement for this repair for something that is obviously a widespread problem with mariners and escapes from 2009-2011.

2009 mercury mariner with about 90,000 miles. Was on the freeway driving about 65-70 mph when suddenly the power to car cut off - was not able to accelerate vehicle; drove to right side of the road. Car was still on, but gas pedal would not work, wrench light was on, car idling very roughly. Turned car off. Turned car back on, wrench light was off, drove another 30 minutes to destination without incident. In the two hour drive home, the car cut off five more times. I heard a bell alert audio sound a few times, but the only light that came on was the wrench just as the power cut off. The very last time it happened, the engine light came on, and stayed on even after restarting the car. I feel very thankful to have got home alive and without getting into an accident. Dealer recommends a 90m service package ($547), a diagnostic test ($104), and possibly a throttle body and/or sensor ($300-ish).

Car lost power and stopped while driving. Engine light came on then went off.

Was driving down country road and all of a sudden felt then engine what i thought was kick out of gear. Had no acceleration at all. Pulled off road and the vehicle was running in a rough idle, but still could not give it gas. Once placed in park the idle leveled out and still no acceleration. The wrench symbol was on. I stopped the engine and waited 10 minutes then restarted engine and everything was ok. For about 3 months.i took into the ford dealer only to be told there was no code and they could do nothing without it. Problem has gotten steadily worst. And now it is at point where wife can not drive her car! i am driving it and finally yesterday the engine light came on. I ran it to autozone where they confirmed the dreaded p2112 code.i took it to the ford dealer today figuring alright less than 5 years old and 42,000 miles i would finally get it fixed. No go! although for $106 they did confirm what autozone already told me that the throttle-body was shot and would cost another $430 to fix.i promptly called ford customer care line and was told that they would contact the service manager at my ford dealership to work out a payment plan for me to get it fixed still at my cost. This is crazy that i payed over 26,000 for a vehicle that i still owe 11,000 on and under 5 years old with 42,000 miles and this is my 3rd major problem with it.. Have already had the engine pulled apart once to be fixed and one of the drive shafts had to be fully replaced. This is unfortunate but will be the last ford i ever own!!!

I was driving at 45mph when all of a sudden, the car stop running. I had to pull over and cut the car off. I started the car again and it went about one mile before it cut off again. Then a wrench symbol came on the left side dash board. I drove the car home and it cut off on me three times before i could get it home. I look in my car book to see what the wrench symbol means and it says that it is the throttle control/powertrain.

The first sign of a problem with my 2009 mercury mariner (39,000 miles) was three days ago when it stalled at a stop light. Today was a bit more dramatic. At 70 mph in heavy traffic the vehicle rpm suddenly dropped down to 900 and the accelerator was none responsive. Fortunately, i was able to coast across several lanes ontothe shoulder of the road. As i slowed to a stop the vehicle began surging and bucking. I noticed the wrench light was on. Then i turned off the vehicle. It restarted fine a few minutes later and ran normally (no warning lights) over to the ford dealership. After listening to my story, the ford service man told me that he was nearly certain the throttle body needed replacement. He went on to say that he was quite familiar with the issue since for years he's been dealing with - on average - three of these cases per week. That's one service man at one dealership. Do the math! i asked if there was a recall or if ford would give me a break on the repair. He said "no", but agreed that the throttle body should not fail after only 39,000 miles. He also said it would be a waste of time filing a complaint to ford customer service. So, i took the vehicle to my local mechanic to have it checked out. They found no error codes registered and for their test drive it ran fine. I don't know what to do next. By the way, there was an earlier recall for our vehicle. In september 2010, they reprogrammed the powertrain control module and replaced the plm, whatever that means.

Car stalls continuously.

I was on a high traffic freeway coming home from a maternity appointment (i was 7months pregnant and it was hot) and going 70mph middle lane. When my car just cut off. I was still moving but my dash was off check engine light came on and i pulled to the side. I could get it started back up but it went off again. I finally got off on a ramp. I had to have my car towed and rent a car. Between the tow rental and work on my car the total was (est 1400). Then a year later it began every now and then stalling or surging while i was driving. It has progressively worsen. Now it has been when i stop or let off the gas it goes dead. Recently went to an auto shop and they hooked it to the computer. It said it was my throttle body. It was cleaned and all was fine for a week. And now it is doing it again. I finally did google throttle body and mercury mariner.i found other complaints.

When being aggressive with the accelerator the engine stalls and the accelerator stops working forcing the driver to pull off of the road. When bring the car to a stop it jerks forward until it is put into park, still the accelerator does not work no matter how pushed. After turning it off start up takes longer than usual and either the little wrench or the engine symbol appears. After taking it to a mechanic it is diagnosed that is has a bad electronic throttle and it will have to be replace. Prior to this there has not had an accident, instance or work done that would cause this.

Turned the vehicle on, drove to end of street wrench aka check engine light appeared just at the same time i came to a stop vehicle started to shack and idle rough and then rpms stared going out of normal range with out a stable position. And then vehicle died twice while making it back to house where i hooked up my obd2 code reader and stated the it was a p2111 code and stated:"throttle actuator control system stuck open" .

The vehicle stalls randomly.i may be driving or idling and the car stalls.it is easily started again by putting the car in neutral and turning the key.i have had ford look at it several times and they first changed the battery and then second changed the gas filter.the problem still exists.

Car suddenly went into limp home mode.

Coming to red light one car in front of me. I pushed down on brake petal and it was hard to push down. Engine revved up to over 5 rpm's and car wouldn't stop finally i put car in neutral and engine went back to idle position. Almost rear ended car in front of me. Took mariner to dealer who wasn't very helpful because he never heard of this before & wanted to know if i wanted to leave mariner there. Also ask if i had my foot on the gas petal instead of the brake. Dealer was unable to verify concern so they replaced canister purge valve. Have also had transmission problems with this mariner that i believe still exist. Filled out surveys and was told manager would call but no one ever contacted me. Very unprofessional dealer.

The vehicle stalls randomly. I may be driving slowly or idling and the car stalls.this has happened at yield signs, red lights and going down hill.this is very dangerous. One time at a right signal arrow it stalled going up a slight incline and i almost got hit from the back.it is easily started again by putting the car in neutral and turning the key.i brought it to the dealer because the car wouldn't start and had to be jumped.they replace the battery and blamed the battery on the problem.it is still happening and i am bringing it again.

Within the firstmonths of owning the vehicle, itstaled randomly. Icould be driving or idling and the car stalls.ifi put in neutral or park, it was easily re-started. I have had the dealer look at it several times the problem still exists.nothing showed on the computer.on many occasions starting in 2010, the vehiclehesitateswhen shifting.when i would accelerateafter coasting;w aiting for a light to turn green, trying to leave a stop light or sign, or after making a turn, therewas a lullwhere the vehicle was unresponsive.it thenkind of lurches into gear. The dealer told me that's the way the 6 speed automatics worked and i should always come to a complete stop. This past weekend2-3-13 was the icing on the cake.i took the car down to the shore to have a leisurely weekend b4 surgery. I started the car and the enginelight came on.i followed what it said in the manual and the light did not blink 8 times. I performed the mixed city and highway driving followed by 8 hours or being parked, the light came on the next morning the first thing that happened was that the rpms went very high and it lurched into gear.the car stalled twice while i was doing about 35 mph. I threw it in neutral and it started right up.driving home , the engine light was not on butno dash lights, radio etc after about 5 minutes and noticed they came on.this happenedtwice.i had the heat on floor and front vents at 74 & at 1 point it felt like a/c was on.i filed complaints with (nhtsa)with no response.i see many of the same complaints i have on nhtsa that areunresolved.i have stage 3 canceri have been battling for 9 yrs this situationis makingme feel like the car is more dangerous than the cancer i am fighting. I'm putting myself at risk by driving it.

Engine stalls and pick-up is wobbly.

My vehicle started leaking fluorescent oil from behind the radiator. Apparently, it's the condenser. I have been told that the radiator lines run through the same system, and that if it is not repaired my transmission will eventually fail. This failure was explained to be the transmission locking up, and they said if i'm going over about 30 mph it will be very dangerous. I am about 2,000 miles out of warranty, and the emails i have sent to ford only get a response that they will be happy to take my money and fix it. Within a few months of buying it, the intake manifold had to be removed to repair something. Then, a transmission solenoid. Then, it was shifting funny -because it had very little fluid-noone could explain why. The vibration in the gas pedal at 42 mph "could not be verified. " the manufacturer was apparently out of satellite receivers, so they just didn't put one in...the lack of quality overall proves that the length of the warranty is to prevent them from costly fixes...and my "long term investment " makes me feel like i'm putting mine and my family's health at risk by driving it. I spent every dime i saved in iraq on this pos because i knew i wouldn't be able to afford another vehicle until i'm out of medical school.

The contact owns a 2009 mercury mariner. The contact stated that the vehicle experienced a failure in which the front driver's side headlight assembly would fill up with water and fog, severely reducing visibility. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer and the headlight was repaired. The failure continued to occur. The manufacturer offered no assistance. The failure mileage was unknown.....updated 08-24-12updated 08/31/2012

Driving home from work the car went into "limp mode", pulled over to side of road, called for tow and had car taken to shop for diagnostics and repair.shop determined it was faulty throttle body ( there were over 700,000 orders for replacements on website at this time)part was on backorder---came in, was replaced and i paid the bill of $720.60 for parts, labor, towing and taxes.i got letter from ford that part is now a recall item so i take the bill to kerry ford in cincinnati, oh and they take all of my info and send me a check for $167.85 and tell me too bad for not having work done at ford store, that's all i am going to get.this does not even cover the cost of the part alone.so as a stranded motorist, i was supposed to think of a ford dealership first instead of safety first and getting my car repaired.

Driving 30mph car begins to surge and slow down had to pull over to road shoulder.fuel gauge shows empty when there isa full tank.cut the engine off for five minutes, start engine tried to drive the car is still surging and slowing down, then starts to run normally.this is the second occurrence the first occurred in march of 2013.

Driving along and unexpectedly engine goes in limp mode with no warning and no acceleration- extremely dangerous as was driving on expressway when this occurred.

On june 11th, 2013, i was turning a corner and my vehicle was not allow me to accelerate. I was able to pull over to the side of the road and turn the vehicle off. I sat with the vehicle off for about five minutes and was able to start it back up. I then drove a few feet, and it stalled again. I then turned it back off and let it sit for a few more minutes, in which i was able to restart it and drive home. He same problem has occurred at least 5-10 more times since then. Since then i have had the throttle body cleaned, put the issue still exist. The most recent occurrence was this morning at 10: 30 am. I contacted after-market auto part stores and they do not carry a throttle position sensor. I contacted the local ford dealership and they told me that the part was on back order and it would take some time to get the part in.

Driving at highway speeds when the vehicle lost all power. Was able to the vehicles momentum to pull to the side of the highway. After turning the car off, waiting, restarting the vehicle, i was able to restore power to the engine to return home. Turning left through cross traffic, the vehicle lost power again. Was able to quickly turn the vehicle off then on again to restore power and move out of the way of oncoming traffic. The dealer diagnosed and replaced the throttle body for being defective. The vehicle is no longer under warranty and i was required to pay. This is the second time this problem has happened. 1.5 years ago the same problem happened and the throttle body was replaced under warranty.

While driving approximately 35 mph, the vehicle lost all throttle.the engine continued to run.pulled over and placed the vehicle in park.pressed on accelerator but nothing happened.it would not rev the engine.restarted the vehicle and the throttle worked properly.this happened twice today.

Car engine stopped while driving at a low (10-20 mph) speed. Second time this happened. First time on 2011 replaced throttle body then. It happened again 12/31/2013. Ford service said throttle body needs to be replaced again.

While driving the mariner at 45 mph on a busy street, the engine went into limp mode, lost all acceleration and slowed to 5 mph.i was nearly rear-ended by the truck behind me and was forced to pull up onto a sidewalk, damaging my tire.pulled the codes on the car and got a p111 code.did some searching on the internet and found that this is a common issue and an extreme safety hazard.i was very happy that i was the driver, and not my 16 year old daughter!!!this is the second safety issue we have had with this car in the last month -- earlier the power steering went out, again without any warning in traffic.

Ford motor co. Produced 2009 & 2010 mercury mariner vehicles' fuel system leaks gas when attempting to top off the gas tank.all ford vehicles produced over the past two years may be affected.ford will not fix the problem and tells the customer to not top off the gas tank although nothing is included in the owner's manual about this nor are dealerships admitting any knowledge about the problem nor has ford sent any service bulletins to affected dealerships.all of the above has been confirmed on at least two occasions by my servicing ford dealership.

Recently purchased 2009 mercury mariner (ford escape) has three times simply quit while driving at low speed and the throttle is gently pressed. Latest incident was while traveling uphill with two grandchildren and a 18 wheel truck on the back bumper. Luckily my wife had the presence of mind to shift to neutral, re-start the engine, and accelerate away from the truck.no error codes have been set during these three events.

The contact owns a 2009 mercury mariner. The contact stated that he could smell a strong, abnormal gas odor upon exiting the vehicle. The contact stated that the odor was the strongest when the gas tank was full. The contact took the vehicle to an independent mechanic who informed him that there was a leak at the top of the fuel tank. He was informed that the fuel tank needed to replaced. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and informed him that the vin was not under recall. A dealer was not notified of the failure. The manufacturer referred the contact to nhtsa for assistance. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 154,000.

On october 18, 2018 i received the power steering assist failure error on my instrument panel when turning on my vehicle. I had driven it earlier in the day without issue. Previously i had the occasional warning noise and quick flash of an error (too quick for me to read all the way) and would have momentary difficulty turning. This issue makes it almost impossible to steer the vehicle. Research indicates that it is most likely a malfunctioning torque sensor. I reached out to ford after learning of recalls for the 2009 model year. I was informed that my vin was not included in the recall. Ford was unwilling to assist with the cost of repairs in any way. Their suggestion was to keep the receipt on the slim chance that the recall would be expanded. This is unacceptable. Had i been on a highway when this occurred it could have been fatal to myself or others. This repair will cost in the neighborhood of $1000 or more. I will need to have the work done at a dealership to ensure the repair is done correctly and that ford won't give me reimbursement issues should the recall be expanded. This occurred less than a year after the fuel inlet valve failed on the vehicle, causing it to shut down while driving and rendering it unable to be started. The rear hatch has not been able to be opened for over three years because of an issue with the latch.i have had issues with the climate control system and well. There were issues with air conditioning when i purchased the vehicle (april 2015). The issues were not apparent previous to purchase because of the weather at the time. Within a month the weather warmed up. When i attempted to use the a/c it was only blowing hot air. The dealership was willing to fix the issue free of charge because of the circumstances. However, the issue is occurring again even after having an a/c recharge performed.

I was driving through a town and the car cut out and lost all power. I steered it off the road safety. It restarted just fine and i took off again going four blocks were it died instantly in the middle of the road. It is now in the shop to figure out what caused stalling in the car, and then allowing it to restart and continue down the road. Very unsafe with traffic behind me and oncoming to be stalled on a curve on the road.

The vehicle randomly shuts down while operating on the highway between 65-75 mph. There is no warning and it becomes very difficult to steer the car. After waiting for 10 to 15 minutes the engine can be restarted and all seems to operate, until it happens again.

My 2009 mercury mariner stalls while its idle, at a intersection or just waiting. It stalls then i started up right after it stalls.

As my daughter was driving on the freeway, the engine suddenly lost power and she had to work her way to the side across 3 lanes of heavy traffic with no power.our mechanic replaced the throttle body at our expense. The news today indicated that you were investigating the circuit board which controls the throttle and we wanted you to know that this problem was a threat to her safety and appears to be occurring to many people.this was the fourth time the vehicle has stopped while driving.

While in motion the car will stall causing me to pull off to the side of the road, turn the car off, then back on in order for it to work again. This happens every 10-15 miles and its really unsafe! i believe it is a defective throttle body and needs to be fixed asap before i can continue driving it.

Tool light comes on and car loses power in traffic, very, very dangerous. Dealership updated with computer but vehicle is still doing it. Please do a recall ford.

During normal highway driving conditions, car suddenly stopped accelerating, could push the accelerator all the way to the floor and get no power. Engine did not stall out, but would not provide power. Was able to pull over and turn off car, then turn back on, and problem was gone. After another 15 miles or so it happened again. Took the car to the dealership and they reported that it was a bad throttle body and had to be replaced.

While unit is running on road engine still running car stop for absent of power but engine keep running, pressing gas pedal will do anything , you have to turn engine off wait and turn engine on backin order to kept driving , this very dangerous because this happens in the middle of the hay way at any speed , please consider a recall we almost get kill by a rear impact if we did react fast . Update does not fix situation, this a troubleshooting from factory and they now this very clear. This happens in hay way 147 going north to south at 9.10pm on 06/13/2018 where we were driving speed limits of 55mph.

The contact owns a 2009 mercury mariner. The contact stated that the power liftgate failed to open after several attempts. The vehicle had not been diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the problem. The approximate failure mileage was 65,000.

Car had problems with lagging during acceleration.i was driving to the bank and the car completely stopped responding to the gas pedal.a wrench light popped up as well as check engine light. Had to pull over because my car would no longer accelerate and quickly stopped moving. I was told by mechanic it was the throttle body.

The first sign of a problem with my 2009 mercury mariner (39,000 miles) was three days ago when it stalled at a stop light. Today was a bit more dramatic. In september 2010, they reprogrammed the powertrain control module and replaced the plm, whatever that means.

While driving down the road anywhere from 20-55 mph, the car seems to stall out and the accelerator no longer works. You have to pull over and shut the vehicle off and it will start again. Sometimes the same problem will occur again within seconds, minutes, or days later.

I was driving my 2009 mercury mariner and suddenly lost the ability to accelerate.a wrench light illuminated on my dash and the only thing i could do was coast to a stop.pushing the gas pedal did nothing.i was able to very slowly get the car to a parking lot (it moved at an idle speed, but would not accelerate otherwise).when i got to the parking lot, i turned the car off.after waiting a few minutes, i turned the car back on and it seemed fine.i took it to a ford dealership and they diagnosed it as being a problem with the throttle body, which they ended up replacing.this issue occurred on 12/10/2013 on a 2009 mercury mariner that i purchased new in november of 2008.it had approximately 69,000 miles on it when the incident occurred.i was driving at a speed of about 40 mph when it happened.in searching the internet, i found that this is a very common problem.there are numerous news reports, forum and blog postings, and youtube videos of people experiencing the same problem with the throttle body on their escapes and mariners.i also feel that it is a safety issue.had i been on the highway when this occurred, i very likely would've caused an accident.(i was actually just about to enter the highway when this incident occurred.)

I was driving around 40 mph and alight in my dash the symbol of a wrench appeared ,then my suv i lost power going forward , it seemed the engine shut down , i was able to get off the road in very bad traffic with out getting into an accident . The traffic was very heavy and the suv was very hard to control with out power.

Car suddenly started to loose power and reduce speed to about 20 mph.then idled very, very rough - close to shutting down.sat for a while restarted it up and could not get it past 20 mph.ended up taking it to dealer next day and they looked into it.took apart the throttle actuator and cleaned it.worked fine for about a month, but today experienced the same problem.had to have it towed to repair shop and we are still trying to figure out what to do about it.

I was traveling down the interstate at approx. 70 mph when suddenly, i felt a jolt. At this time, i lost power upon depressing the pedal. I slowly moved to the emergency lane and stop the vehicle. A wrench tool illuminated on the instrument panel. I then turned the vehicle off. I was able to restart the vehicle. As i proceeded to continue on my route, as i was accelerating, approx. 25 - 30 mph, the incident repeated if self. This occurred about 4 times before i realized that i could only drive about 15 - 20 mph in order to keep this condition from occurring again. I was only about 4 miles from home, so i proceeded to drive home very slowly.

Driving my 2009 mariner premier about 35/45 mph when wrench symbol comes on indicating throttle control powertrain / transmission problem car is not accelerating properlyand transmission is jerking wheni step on the gas pedal and the car shakes vibrates and feels under powered. Got home and parked it. Started it up and now check engine light is also on. Is this covered by the recall for extended warrantyfrom ford ?

The 2009 mercury mariner has an issue that occurs while operating the vehicle.the problem occurred when power was cut off from the acceleration, the wrench symbol on the dashboard illuminated (which indicates a powertrain/throttle control problem), and i was only able to coast the vehicle to park.the vehicle never gave any indication that there was a problem until the wrench lit up and the accelerator stopped working.it started a week ago and has happened a total of 3 times since (with minimal driving).once the problem happens and i stop the car, i am able to put it in park, turn the car off, start it back up, and drive again like nothing happened.this is a very unusual problem and looking online, i see it may be a common one.

I was driving and all of a sudden i lost power. There was jerking in the transmission.

I am getting continual throttle body errors on my 2009 mariner.it goes into low power mode so i can "limp home".it happens mostly on highways when i need to "punch it" and get alot of acceleration.

Driving along and unexpectedly engine goes in limp mode with no warning and no acceleration- extremely dangerous as was driving on expressway when this occurred.

The contact owns a 2009 mercury mariner. The contact stated that the transmission would shift hard when up shifting or downshifting. The contact took the vehicle to the dealer and was told that there was nothing wrong with the transmission, but that the power train control module needed to be reprogrammed. The vehicle was repaired. The failure mileage was 59,000 and the current mileage was 78,000.

On expressway, my vehicle went into lim home mode. It continually did this, so i had my vehicle towed to the auto shop. The mechanic said that this is a common problem with my year vehicle and you folks are looking into this issue. Hopefully you will recall it.

Test driving vehicle and i could not accelerate. Dealer said he would fix problem.

On multiple occasions starting in jan 2011, the vehicle would hesitate to select a gear and accelerate while trying to leave a stop light or sign, or after making a turn leaving a few second lull where the vehicle is unresponsive. The previous transmission software re-flash was performed again even though dealer was unable to replicate problem.issue still persists occasionally, as well as a new symptom since march (23,000 miles).now, sometimes when coming to a stop the vehicle will stall as though the transmission did not downshift to a lower gear.placing the vehicle in neutral and restarting allows continued operation.these issues combined with inconsistency in shifting performance as noted by many others lead me to believe there is still a component and/or software problem with this 6f35 transmission.however, since the problem cannot be consistently replicated by the dealer they are unsure of a remedy.

Driving on highway with speed control on at 75 mph, all of the sudden vehicle rapidly sped up to 95 mph.the vehicle just took off raving engine up.applied brakes and took off cruise control.if there had been traffic this could of been a dangerous or deadly incident.we have had the vehicle in before for the same problem, it would speed up while making a turn.ford dealership said it was a transmission problem.all repairs have been done by a ford dealership.

Normal driving when suddenly there was no acceleration & the wrench light came on in the dashboard. Car was running but there was no acceleration & idled roughly. Mechanic put a diagnostic on it which read p2112 throttle control actuator system stuck closed. Binding throttle body stuck closed. There was no warning and the incident was very scary since i could not get out of the way of traffic. The car would go about 1mph until i was able to pull off the road. When the car was later shut off and restarted, acceleration returned. This is frightening as you do not know when it could happen and could cause a serious accident.

The contact owns a 2009 mercury mariner. The contact stated that while driving 65 mph, there was a noise heard from the engine. The vehicle was taken to a mechanic who inspected the vehicle and discovered that there was no transmission fluid in the required reservoir. The mechanic informed the contact that the seal from the transmission was leaking fuel and referred her to a transmission specialist. The vehicle was then taken to the transmission specialist who informed her that they needed to do an overhaul and rebuild the transmission. The vehicle was scheduled for repairs. The manufacturer was notified of the failure who advised the contact that there was a technical service bulletin for the failure (nhtsa item number: 10039137: power train: automatic transmission) but no recalls. No further assistance was offered. The failure mileage was 76,000.

Car lost power and stopped while driving. Engine light came on then went off.

Transmission fluid leaking from left hand halfshaft seal on my automatic transmission. Took into shop to have it diagnosed, found out something is wrong with the bearings do to low fluid. Then i find out there is a service kit available for this seal issue, however we have not received any notice of such service kit being available. I'd like to know who is going to cover the $2500 its going to cost to have my transmission fixed as opposed to a few hundred dollars it should have cost me had i been aware of this service kit.

The vehicle suddenly accelerated and then slowed down rapidly. Pulled over and put car in park and turned it off. Called my uncle who is a mechanic and was not to sure as to what could have happened since he was not there. Started car and revved the engine to see if anything unsafe happened. Car seemed ok and was able to drive it home. Mechanic looked at it the next day but could not find anything wrong he said or duplicate the problem.

The vehicle suddenly lost power as i was traveling down the highway. The "wrench" warning light came on indicating a powertrain fault and thankfully i was able to pull over to the side of the road before it died completely.

Vehicle is a 2009 mercury mariner premium (fwd, ivct 2.5 l i4 dohc, 16 valve, gasoline, automatic transmission [6f midrange], pfi). On 01/10/2010 the throttle body/powertrain indicator icon and service engine soon icondisplayed solid illumination after engine warmup.on 01/14/2010, the dealership read the ombd-ii malfunction codes and notified owner that the entire automatic transmission assembly (ford part no. 7000) needed to be replaced. At ford parts web site, it states that this part is recalled, but no further information is provided; however, this part was received by the dealership and is being installed.

The contact owns a 2009 mercury mariner. While driving approximately 65 to 70 mph on normal road conditions; the transmission slipped with excessive vibration. The engine began to rev and the rpm's were high.suddenly, pressure was applied to the accelerator pedal, however, the response was minimal. The contact was able to drive onto the emergency lane and resume normal operation. An authorized dealer confirmed that the failure was contributed to the transmission over drive piston. The vehicle was repaired. The failures occurred whenever 5th and 6th gear were engaged. The identical failures occurred on two separate occasions after the service repairs were performed on the vehicle.in addition, the vehicle rolled while stationary on an incline. The contact had concerns of the safety risk involved. The failure and current mileages were 13,088.

2009 mercury mariner. The rear end of the vehicle makes a squealing noise upon acceleration i took the car back to the ford dealership in hillsdale.the vehicle was in the shop 12/9/2009 through 12/16/2009.unable to fix the noise, ford motor company had them tear down the transmission and replace the drive chain.when i picked up the car i was told that the noise was still there and that ford engineering said it should not be a problem.the noise was still consistent and has grown increasingly louder.since this initial complaint i have received a recall notice for the transmission solenoid regulator valve.the vehicle has been accelerating when it shouldn't and not accelerating when it should, like when merging into traffic when the transmission would not performproperly.

Our son is driving this car wit 90k miles on it.had 1200 of break work done after feeling like the pedal was going down too far and he could not stop well and then it ended up needing a new ehcu to the tune of 2600$.this is a very critical component and from what i read, there are a lot of people experiencing this problem.it should not fail and ford as not issued a recall.i called ford to see if there could be any assistance and they said no.good cars are being junked for this reason and it is a severe safety issue.

Have had multiple brake failures including an accident that my daughter was involved in as a result of brake failure. The brakes will work fine fora short period of time and then out of nowhere you step on the brake and there's just a soft pedal for about 3/4 of the was before you get a very soft brake. Into this for thousands and now ford says a hydraulic brake sensor is the problem for between $2100-2400.heard that it was fixed every time i've picked it up. Dangerous!!! my daughter or someone else could have been killed.

My daughter was involved in an accident due to faulty brakes. We have had the vehicle in to have repairs at three different shops, the last two being at ford. The first two shops could never get the brakes right. Ford finally got them to work for a period of time. They went out again. Ford had the car for another month- it takes months every time. Paid another $2445. And still no brakes. Have contacted ford corporate and they refuse to help or give me documentation to that effect. Ford cases are cas-28178357 and cas-27857368. I have two other mariners and this one just isn't right. Please advise my options. I don't want to sell or trade this with a problem that could possibly hurt or kill someone. Thanks!

Power steering stop working could not turn the steering wheel

After abs activated brake padel became soft.my vehicle has a simlar problem expained under ''safety recall 19s54 ' anti-lock brake system hydraulic control unit valve function''. Eventhough ford recalled several unites, my vin did not list under the recalled units.

The brake pedal goes straight to the floor leaves you with no brakes. This is due to the abs hydraulic control module failing same as other ones in ford and mercury's being recalled. This is terrible and dangerous and they refuse to help even though thousands of customers with mariners and escapes are having identical problems. Does multiple people have to die before they recall these? this happened while on the highway at 65mph. Terrible and dangerous.

When using the brakes there's a loss of about half of the brake pedal, and most likely the abs system. The part retails for $1,747.32. The problem from talking to mechanics and searching is apparently sticking valve(s) which in turn makes the brake fluid by-pass half of the system. In other words you only have the use of part of the brake system. Our car has 170k miles but that's ~ 90% highway miles, we bought it ~6yrs ago with 15k miles, which means the brakes don't get that much use. The rear shoes were just replaced for the 1st time @ 170k and the front pads have been done once. Ford cares so much about the lives of people driving their cars that they continue to sell the same part (modulator valve - ford (9l8z-2c346-c)) without any engineering changes/updates, even though this is a common problem across car lines and even trucks.they have issued a recall, #19s54 for select 2006-10 ford fusion, mercury milan and lincoln mkz vehicles that exhibit the same issue, "a normally closed valve inside the hydraulic control unit may stick open, which could result in extended brake pedal travel, potentially increasing the risk of a crash.".an interesting point in the recall is this: "the system will be pressure-flushed with dot 4 brake fluid and the dot 3 reservoir cap will be replaced with a new dot 4 cap."our vehicle has a dot3 cap, is dot3 what causes the problem with "stuck or slow-responding valves" per recall, and dot4 keeps valves from sticking or becoming slow acting because of the viscosity difference between the 2?from amsoil "dot 3 is the most common type used in cars and trucks today. Dot 4, however, is gaining popularity due to widespread use of anti-lock braking systems and traction control, which benefit from dot 4 fluid?s lower viscosity."this: "as of 2006, most cars produced in the u.s. Use dot 4 brake fluid." except for ford apparently.

Under recall 14s05 the electronic steering assist was updated but did not fix the defect. The recall only gives a chime and warning that steering is going to fail. The chime went off but didn't give the warning on the instrument cluster until i went to the dealer to see what the chime was. When i was driving down the freeway at 70 mph my steering started to shake and the vehicle began to vibrate. I can only imagine if this were to totally fail while traveling at that speed.

The contact owns a 2009 mercury mariner. While driving 35 mph, the steering wheel seized without warning. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that the steering column failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The vin was not included in nhtsa campaign number: 14v284000 (steering) the failure mileage was 103,200. Updated 02/21/17*lj

For many weeks the steering of the mariner has been "twitching." then a few more weeks later, at the time we would start the vehicle the steering would not be working making it very hard to turn. We would just restart the vehicle and it the steering would be back. Now the steering will quick as we are going down the road. This is very unsafe and has the potential to cause an accident. The vehicle is very hard to maneuver when the steering quits, and if it were to quit as you were making a turn or in a sharp curve, the outcome could possibly be very bad. This is clearly a safety issue.

The contact owns a 2009 mercury mariner. When the vehicle was started, the steering ability was lost. There were no warning indicators illuminated. The vehicle was restarted and the power steering returned to normal. The vehicle was driven to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the steering column needed replacement along with the power steering control module. The contact also stated that the vehicle was repaired under a recall for the same failure on september 15, 2015. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 92,833.

My power steering stopped working the message on my dashboard indicates that the power steering assist fault indicator illuminated. When this happen i was driving on a city street and had to pull over. I was able to get the car home and it's now parked in the drivewayi can't drive my car because it is very hard to steer without the power steering.i have never received a recall notice regarding the problem

The contact owns a 2009 mercury mariner. The contact stated that the vehicle was previously serviced per nhtsa campaign number: 14v284000 (steering). While attempting to accelerate at 1 mph, the power steering assist fault indicator illuminated and the steering wheel became extremely difficult to turn. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who diagnosed that a sensor in the power steering failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact spoke to the dealer (gorno ford 22025 allen rd, woodhaven, mi 48183) who stated that there was no open recall on the vehicle, and the contact would have to pay a diagnostic fee. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 116,000.

Electronic power steering went out 2weeks after purchasing. Dealership said that it could be tork sensor. Had it tebooted 2 times and went back out each time. Recently had it tested again and repair man said that there was an active recall for it

Power steering goes in and out.so far i've been lucky this hasn't happened at high speeds.

There is no power steering. Power steering assist fault comes up on the dash. There was a recall on this in 2014.

The contact owns a 2009 mercury mariner. While driving 55 mph, the vehicle lost power steering ability and it became difficult to steer. There were no warning indicators illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that the power steering assist was faulty. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact referenced nhtsa campaign number: 14v284000 (steering) as a possible solution, but the vin was not included in a recall. The manufacturer was notified. The vin was unknown. The failure mileage was 166,000.

Power steering quit working. No warning lights. Went to store it worked came out and it didn't work. Has been 2 weeks and still nothing

My 2009 mercury mariner has an issue with the steering.sometimes it works but most of the time it does not.there will be times when it does work it will go out in mid turn and jerk the wheel straight, sometimes causing me to swerve into traffic or out of my lane.i did hear that this particular vehicle was involved in a recall but i was not sure how to get that information.

The contact owns a 2009 mercury mariner. The contact stated that while driving at approximately 55 mph, the steering wheel shook violently and seized. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the steering column assembly needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The vin was not included in nhtsa campaign number: 14v284000 (steering). The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 120,000.

I began to have slight problems the other day with my steering wheel being some what 'tight' when making a left turn. Usually, the steering wheel sort of 'springs' back when making a turn, it now has to be assisted by myself to get the wheel to turn straight back after making the turn. I have done my research and i am 100% positive that the vehicle i am complaining about is now having the same problems that recall #14v284000 has listed. I have replaced my tie rod ends recently and i have checks for play in my rack and pinion. The steering it's self is not 'loose' or rattling any components so i am brought to believe it is a electrical issue. Please help me.

The contact owns a 2009 mercury mariner. The contact stated that the vehicle experienced a loss of power steering. The failure occurred without warning. The failure mileage was approximately 100,000.

Unexpected sudden loss of power steering while making a right hand turn onto major roadway causing contact with curb.

The 2009 mercury mariner is experiencing intermittent failure of the power steering system. (at least 3 times so far)when the car is started, the steering is nearly impossible to move.repeated restarting of the car will sometimes restart the power steering and then the car is drivable until it is shut off.the dealer tells us that the only repair authorized by ford is the complete replacement of the steering column - an approximately $1300.00 part plus the hourly rate.this is an extremely dangerous type of failure.if it would occur while my 17 year old daughter is driving the car, she would be unable to control the vehicle and would most likely cause an accident.

Suddenly the steering was extremely difficult to turn. I was in a stationary position and then tried to turn. Fortunately i was in a parking lot when the problem occurred. If i had been on the highway it could have been a very dangerous situation.

Vehicle was stationary. Started vehicle and no power steering. Called ford was told it was fixed on july 29, 2014 due to recall but same issue has happened again. Ford refuses to fix, was told was already fixed and nothing they can do. Went to dealership where it was bought now have to pay out of pocket.

I purchased a 2009 mercury mariner new. There was a recall issued 14v284000. The recall involves the electronic power steering. The dealer claims this mariner is not under the recall. I say it is because the symptoms are exactly the same as seen in the video describing the problem. This vehicle should be included in the recall. The power steering was fine when it was shut off in the driveway. The next time it was started the power steering did not work. I do not know the exact date of the incident so i will give an approximate date. I sold this car to my son. He is now the owner.

My car has a electric power assist system code and i called and for my car it was not on the recall even though there was a recall 14v28400 in 2014 for 2008-2011 mercury mariner for this problem. I have no power steering now

On january 16 2016 power steering failed and car became very difficult to steer. Power steering pscm had been reprogramed pursuant to nhsta recall in dec. 2014.this did not correct the problem (obviously)ford dealer determined that replacement of steering column was required to fix the problem but refuses to reimburse me for the cost ($1306.27)

On city streets the power steering would become disabled. This would cause the steering wheel to lockup and become incredibly difficult to make turns. The power steering would flicker on and off, and after 2 or 3 cycles a battery icon on the dashboard would light up. Seemed to occur more frequently when the headlights were on.took vehicle to a ford dealer and they replaced the entire steering column even though there is a recall out already that is eerily similar. They did not provide information as to why this instance did not qualify for the recall even though this was specifically asked for.

My daughter was driving my 2009 mercury mariner at a speed of 25 mph.the steering wheel basicallylocked up.no warning. I checked online and there are numerous complaints about this happening.this is an outrage!if she or i would have been on the hwy at a high rate of speed we would have been killed.i have three granddaughters who ride in this vehicle as well.i just bought this vehicle january 2012.it only has 63300 miles. I take it in to the ford dealer for service check ups and oil changes.i do take good care of it. I have seen online repair could be over 5k. This is a huge safety issue!!!why hasn't this been recalled with so many online complaints?

I purchased my husband a 2009 mercury mariner very recently friday december 12/21/18 took delivery of vehicle, had it shipped up from sewell audi, sugar land, tx. My husband drove the vehicle the day of delivery, we took it out for dinner @ a local food chain, no issues. Saturday morning, i took the vehicle out on a christmas shopping errand in the morning. The mariner drove fine and it is or seemed like a nice little suv. I was negotiating a turn into a super target @ 144th & i-25 basically the power steering quit working immediatley. I nearly couldn't make it into the parking lot out of on coming traffic. I called my husband he drove up inspected under the hood it was then he noticed no power steering pump no power steering reservoir, must be electric. I got in the vehicle he came up in and followed him in the mercury mariner premier.he works a physically demanding job union journeyman electrician / construction & was barely able to turn and drive the vehicle to my grand daughter which lives a few miles away. Thelong story short i wonder what would have occurred @ highway speeds on i-25. I think chevrolet had a ignition key problem which occurredwhich resulted in some deaths especially to some female drivers, basically if you lack the physical ability to drive a auto with out power steering something could really go wrong really quick. Please help just shelled out money for the vehicle, money for shipment, & now from my recent research a very costly repair as extensive as replacing the steering column, shame on the dealer that sold us the auto and we have always driven fomoco vehicles, but shame on them their uh oh could have resulted in death or injury to who ever would have driven the vehicle. I have a zip drive on the vehicle how may i physically get a copy of this info, to you?

After driving the vehicle normally, i parked it. When i restarted the vehicle it became very hard to steer. There are no warning lights lit on the console and the problem continues after several attempts to drive the vehicle. I had taken the vehicle into the dealership for a recall in 2014 and assured that this would not happen. After reading several complaints online of people having similar issues. I have decided to log a complaint.

Power steering assist fault -the power steering faulted out causing the auto to got manual steering in midwaty thru driving it.i was driving on a street and going thru about a turn.

While my car was parked, my steering wheel began shaking violently upon starting my engine on february 22,2016.the shaking continued every time i drove my car at high or low speeds and also while in park with the engine running. On march 8, 2016, after starting my engine, i noticed the power steering was completely non functioning.there has been a complete loss of power steering control and the steering wheel was very difficult to turn at low speeds.

My car was recalled once for power steering according to my car's history ford updated the computer system.however for the last six months my power steering keeps failing.i never know when i start the car if i will have power steering.ford states no recall and will not fix the problem for free.what i read states that if the computer update does not work than a replacement of the steering must be done.this is a major safety issue.i have had to cancel doctor's appointments because that day i did not have power steering and can not parallel park.please i need help with this.i understand that some other owners are having the same issue.must i get into an accident because of lack of power steering before ford corrects this problem once and for all.please help i am desperate.

Stopped to eat and keys would not come out of the ignition.

Power steering torque sensor went bad dealer told me .they say no recall no this

While driving a buzzer goes off on the car (usually indicates that i have to look at the dashboard for an explanation, e.g. Low tire pressure warning). The power assist for the steering immediately cuts out and i have to steer with significant effort.this is not a big deal if i am going straight, a very big deal when i am turning which accounts for almost every event. This event last 2-3 seconds and the assist recovers.there is no warning messages on the dashboard.it requires both hands to control the car for this short time - however at 30 mph the vehicle travels 50+ feet during this event. This happens every 2-3 months..the date listed below is the last time this happened, i.e. Today while making a left turn traveling at about 10 mph and last 3 seconds - enough time for me to safely complete the turn using both hands.

I was making a left turn and list all power steering. Everything else seems to be working fine but i'm unable to drive my vehicle at all now. The dashboard shows the power steering assist fault warning indicator i've been told that the sensor needs to be replaced and that there are recalls for this for the same year vehicle but when i run my vin number it doesn't provide me with any recalls for my specific vehicle so the manufacturer refuses to pay for any of the repairs. Now i'm left without a vehicle and my vehicle is how i make my money to pay my bills. The cost to repair is outrageous. I'm glad i wasn't driving any faster because it probably would have caused a serious accident. I did call the 800 number for recalls and i was told by the manufacturer that there weren't any recalls for my vehicle.

Electric power steering fault, power steering just stopped, while i was driving the vehicle, almost caused an accident

The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was not available.

While driving the steering turned from power to manual; it was extremely difficult for my daughter and wife to operate and narrowly missed hitting another vehicle. After the car was turned off, and turned on, the power steering was functional. Later, when the car was re-started the power steering was not functioning; and steering would not turn. Very unreliable and near accident experienced.

Leading up to this date for approximately 2 weeks, i noticed my steering wheel shook at all speeds while driving and while parked with engine running.i took the car to ray skillman ford on 3/8/2016 and they diagnosed the problem as a failure in the steering assist motor and they said they would have to pull my steering column to repair the motor.i had my car serviced for recall 14s05 in september 2014 in which they reprogrammed the power steering sensor at capital city ford.this recall remedy failed to prevent the issue of failure in my vehicle. The claim number through ford is cas-8977665-p8m0t0. The total for the repairs is $996.04.

Power steering works or i have to manhandle the wheel to drive. If i turn car off and jiggle the steering wheel while turning it on sometimes it will come back other times it wonā€™t.

My 2009 mercury mariner has lost its power steering capabilities.when researching online, it shows a recall based on the power steering.records show a ford dealer did the software update to remedy the problem.however, the car wasn't having any issues when this was done.now that the car is experiencing the issue based on the recall, ford says it's now out of warranty.i can't imagine i'm the only one out of 741,000 people who is having to deal with this problem.as it stands, the car's steering is manual.ford needs to do something to satisfy their customers because it's unethical to fix a problem when there is no problem and turn your back when there is a problem.

Last year in april i got the car , didn't have it for a week the power steering went out . I got it fixed . Here it is 2020 of august , the power steering assist came on . The steering wheel locked up on me . I don't have the money to keep replacing this same part . I looked into the recalls for the vehicle . I seen a couple , called a number i seen they said the recall expired. So i'm back to square one . I don't know exactly what part i need .

Steering became very hard and dangerous

My vehicle is a 200& mercury meriner it has been stationary luckily when the power steering has stopped working. I bought this car used in 2015 and never received any paper work about a recall on the power steering. I have looked it up and there was a recall on them. I would go to crank the vehicle up and my wheel wouldn't turn at all. I have turned it completely off opened the hood took the battery cables off let it set for 5 mins and connected it all back crick the car and it would work however that would only fix it for a minute. This car is my only dependable vehicle

Message came on: power steering assist fault.did search that my vin number was not covered but its the same year, make and model and place of manufacturingof the recall in 2014.message did not come on as result of accident, i was just driving on street when it came on.

As per recall i took my car to ford dealer (2200 s. Walnut bloomington, in 47401) to upgrade my electronic power steering assist software.less than 30 days later the problem returned and power steering assist is no longer operable while driving.

Power assist steering stops working while vehicle is moving, mostly while turning to park or while turning to back up.

In sept 2016, i took my 2009 mercury mariner in for program code 13n03 because i was only experiencing loss of power while driving and the code p2112 showed up;i found out the dealership chose to initiate the recall 14s05 of updating the software in my vehicle even though i was not experiencing any power steering issues - no codes listed on my invoice.fast forward to may 2019, my vehicle's electronic power steering has went out and now i cannot get it fixed because ford chose to update the software when the only program i was experiencing was the throttle body.now it is my expense to fix my electronic power steering instead of ford because they chose to do another recall even though no codes were listed.when you take your vehicle to a ford dealership, they decide to fix your vehicle how they want to - so now even though the 14s05 recall applies to my vehicle now i cannot get it fixed by ford because they updated the software without actually fixing the problem.

Power steering system reprogrammed during recalldoes not work

Loss of power steering 90% of driving time

While unit is running on road engine still running car stop for absent of power but engine keep running, pressing gas pedal will do anything , you have to turn engine off wait and turn engine on backin order to kept driving , this very dangerous because this happens in the middle of the hay way at any speed , please consider a recall we almost get kill by a rear impact if we did react fast . Update does not fix situation, this a troubleshooting from factory and they now this very clear. This happens in hay way 147 going north to south at 9.10pm on 06/13/2018 where we were driving speed limits of 55mph.

"takata recalls" i have a 2009 mercury mariner with electric power steering on 03/31/2019 i want to a family dollar, in muskegon, michiganthe power steering was working fine when i turned the car off, however when i started it back up a few minutes later; it was not working at all. That is a problem as the fuse and modulator are both good, i am sure this is not the first problem with that system on the 2009 mercury's .

The 2009 mercury mariner is sporadically losing power steering. It has happened at least 10 times now, typically at low speeds when making 90 degree turns. Entering the vin on ford's site shows no recall associated with the vehicle. However, news articles from 2014 show some mercury mariners between 2008 and 2011 in north america were recalled: https://www.nbcnews.com/business/autos/ford-recalling-about-1-1-million-escapes-mercury-mariners-n117786 - i'm afraid of what is going to happen if i lose power steering like this when driving at higher speeds.

Nhtsa action number: dp15001components steeringopened from: april 1, 2015'presentfordis refusing to honor a recall for the power steering saying they did a computer update instead.steering column failed 9,829 miles later.very dangerous situation when it fails while driving.ford knew this part was defective but still allowed it to go unfixed.the recall resulted in a computer update to provide warning signal and light to tell you that the part has failed.i do not have any warning lights or alarms and i suspect the computer update was not completed.google searches resulted in thousands ofvehicles with this problem even after the update have the same failure.i hope no one dies from fords irresponsibility and poor quality vehicles.i reported all this to fords rep who basically did not want to hear it.i asked to speak to a supervisor and was told why bother we are not going to help you.a supervisor did call back a day later but had the same attitude that the customer is never right and did not care if we ever bought a ford product again.just do a general ford search and its not just my mariner but many different models with the same problem.it appears that the only recourse we have is with the nhtsa ordering a recall to fix this problem before someone is killed or injured.it must be quite a windfall for ford to charge all their customers $1500.00 to fix a million cars or more.did they do this on purpose to make more money.if anyone has more information on this please email me at [email protected]

I took my vehicle to the dealership in response to a recall notice about the power steering.i had never before experienced symptoms of the issue.the following day, i began having intermittent issues with the power steering.i returned to the dealership and they again serviced the vehicle.a few weeks later i again began having intermittent issues with the steering.it took 2 weeks to get into the service again, and now ford tells me i need a new steering column but that it is too long after the original service and is now considered a new incident not covered by the recall, even though others have experienced similar problems caused by the initial "repair."they refuse to back out the software changes and refuse to fix the current issue.ford case number cas-8718390-z4c4m7

Recall on mariner. Took it in to have recall reviewed and they did the software update and then my power steering failed within a month. The recall states there are 3 fixes and ford is choosing to do the software update so then the software can't communicate with the power steering so it is failing. My local dealer tried to contact ford to have what they did amended so they can fix it. They ran another test on it and it threw another power steering code. Went to leave my dealer and my power steering was completely out at that point. Ford is not doing the proper fixes. The software update is causing the power steering to fail within a few weeks to a month or two. This recall needs to be reopened.

Loss of power steering. Recall performed to update sensor in 2014 but failed jan 2016. Ford will not cover under previous recall though internet shows many drivers with same resulting sensor failure

Backing out of driveway (in motion, straight, under 5mph)steering assist fault warning displayed on dash. Loss of power steering. Noticed there was a recall on the more exspensive models why not ours? sensor in steering column went out. Only a dealer can fix it due to computer needs reprogramming. Dealer told us it had allready been fixed? it had not, & we didn't understand that. If our car wasn't covered under recall why would they say they had fixed it? after their inspection we were told it was a throttle sensor $1500.00 repair. Which is different from recall part, but same effect. Cost mostly labor, we are told.

The wrench light on the dash appeared and the power steering shut off while the car was in motion. The car still operates afterwards, but the wrench light is still on and steering is incredibly difficult especially at low speeds.

Loss of power steering while driving error code "power steering assist error"

I started the car and when i began to drive the wheel would not turn.i asked the parking garage attendant to try and he could not turn the wheel either.i had to get a flat bed tow truck to take the car from the garage to a ford dealership.ford told me the whole steering column needed to be replace due to faulty steering module. It cost me $1,100.17 to replace the steering column.on august 19, 2014 i brought the car to ford to be serviced for recall 14s05.because this recall was forpower steering and the ford motor company is aware of this problem, i thought the expense would be part of the recall.i have come to learn the the recall was to update the software only.which was done to this car and didn't help.the ford motor company should be held accountable for the seriousness of losing the ability to steer the car due tofaulty manufacturing and the compromised position that is placed on the driver, other cars on the road and pedestrians. This car has only $45,000.

Recall has been done back 5 years ago and power steering is not working again. This seems to be a heat issue of poor manufacturing. They replace part however, safety issue has not been fix. This problem will continue unless ford fixes the problem. The problem is a heating and compound electric issue and overtime will continue to fail and cause possible injuries and or damage. Ford only mask the problem with the recall and did not in fact fix it. The heat shield and part location is a poor design and causing a thermal brake down to the electrical components which causes thermal grease to flake away and therefore causes loss of communication to the electrical settings and therefore can't adjust the settings for power control. Please have ford fix this part before someone serious is injured.

Steering assist fault indicator is showing on dash.power steering is not working and upon research with mechanic ford, mercury had a recall 14v284000 on autos foryears 2008, 2009, 2010 and 2011.i checked into the recall and was told my vin for my car did not qualify.so how can ford/mercury put this recall only on certain cars (vin specific) and my auto just happens to have this very same issue?why is my vehicle not covered?i am now unable to get my car repaired.currently cannot steer auto with ease.

The contact owns a 2009 mercury mariner. While driving 5 mph, the steering wheel became extremely difficult to turn without warning. The vehicle was not taken to a dealer or independent mechanic. A dealer was not contacted. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and stated that the vin was not included in nhtsa campaign number: 14v284000 (steering). The approximate failure mileage was 119,000.

Past 30 days while driving heard warning chime lasting about 2 seconds.no message visible on dashboard. On 12/18 while parking car warning chime and message "power steering assist failure."steering assist completely failed. Was able to drive car home (about 2 miles) - with difficulty when driving at low speed. Searched the web and found that others experienced the same issue and there is a recall for some cars of my year and model dealing with exactly this problem.i called my dealership and am awaiting a call from their service department (i had the a/c system serviced on nov 11 that appears unrelated).if this is not covered by the recall - it should be.the steering is so difficult without the assist that higher speed would almost certainly have led to a crash. Right now, the car is not driveable.

Started the car like normal went to leave from my parking space when steering wheel would not turn freely. Drove that way to work (thought it was ice in system due to a snow storm) called my mechanic but when i went back and started the car again it was fine, it did not occur again for a week. One day as i was driving it started happening which never happened before. Read a post that it happened to some other peoplethis is a real safety hazard, i have a kids and grandchildren that ride with me i will not put their lives on the line.

The contact owns a 2009 mercury mariner. While operating the vehicle, the power steering suddenly malfunctioned and caused the steering wheel to become very difficult to turn. The contact stated that the recall notice for nhtsa campaign number: 14v284000 (steering) was received in august of 2014. The vehicle was taken to the dealer who updated the software, but the failure progressed to the point that the steering wheel shook. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer who indicated that the vehicle would not be covered under the recall, although the codes listed in the recall were present. The contact notified the manufacturer who also indicated that the recall remedy was previously performed and no further service would be done under the recall. The failure mileage was 150,000.

While waiting at a stop sign to make a right turn, my steer wheel jerked in my hand and seem to lock.when the traffic cleared, i tried to make the turn and the steering wheel had definitely lock, making it impossible to turn and steer and placing me in a very dangerous situation. I stopped the car and turned it off while in traffic.when i restarted the car the steering had unlocked.my car was in an accident a month prior to this incident and i had body work done, however the dealership and the insurance company both stated that this was not a result of the accident. The steering on the 2009 mercury mariner is electronic and failed to operate properly.the entire steer column has to be replace at my expense.

The contact owns a 2009 mercury mariner. The contact stated that on several occasions while attempting to start the vehicle, the steering wheel seized. The contact stated that the vehicle became difficult to maneuver. No warning lights illuminated. A local dealer was contacted at phone number: 770-941-9000, that informed the contact to jiggle the ignition then restart the vehicle but failed to start. The vehicle was taken to a local dealer at metro ford, 9000 nw 7th ave, miami, fl 33150, phone number: (305) 751-9711 but the vehicle was not diagnosed due to diagnostic fees. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and stated that the recall was repaired by the previous owner. The failure mileage was 119,588.

Power steering stops working while driving. If you stop shut off car then restart power steering will work for awhile. Ford has no recall on this problem. Suggested from ford dealership was to replace steering column at $1400.00. This is not an intermittent issue and effects 2008,2009, 2010 ford and mercury vehicles. Afraid to drive car.

No power steering. The wheel is very hard to turn. For safety reasons the car is parked in my driveway.

The contact owns a 2009 mercury mariner. While driving various speeds, the steering wheel failed to turn. There were no warning indicators illuminated. The vehicle was taken to all star ford (2586 range park dr, denham springs, la 70726, (225) 490-7649), but was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not contacted. The contact stated that the failure was similar to nhtsa campaign number: 14v384000 (steering).the failure mileage was 111,000.

Everything seems to be running fine except the power steering no longer works. The car was turning too the left going about 5mph when the issue began. The tool light on the dash came on when the issue began.

Our 2009 mercury mariner suddenly lost its power steering this past weekend.the vehicle was brought back to the dealer in 2014 due to a power steering recall.the vehicle received a software update whichwas supposed to override the loss of steering and provide an indicator light to show the system had failed.there was no such warning and the sudden changeover to manual steering is dangerous.my wife was driving the vehicle in the grocery store parking lot when the power steering failed.she almost hit another vehicle while trying to pull into a space.she was not able to steer the vehicle and called me to help. I was able to drive it to the dealer with a great deal of effort.ford's recall and software update were insufficient to resolve the problems with this faulty system.ford knows thetorque sensor in the steering column is prone to failure but offers a ridiculous software update which serves no purpose other than to tell you there is a failure. In our case we did not even receive the warning light. The dealer quoted me $1507.00 to repair this issue.i called ford customer service and was told the recall was closed because the vehicle had the software update, and there was no further assistance available.unbelievable.please take appropriate action regarding this important safety issue.it seems this electronic power steering system is also failing in other ford models.thank you.

Power steering assist is unreliable. It would stop working intermittently a few days ago and now it doesnt work except for the first start of the day and i've had it looked at shop here in town it threw a code that a local ford dealership told me was the steering column needed replacing. I was also informed that this vehicle had a previous recall for the same issue and that my mariner didn't have the recalled parts replaced but the pcm was reprogrammed. I was told that the replacement would not be covered under the previous recall issued by ford motor co.

So my day starts early with college my mercury mariner started and power steering was normal. Come home for around hour and a half getting ready for work. I get in and i can't even back out of my driveway.i backed up few feet and couldn't move the steering wheel. So i just shut the engine off and left it were it stood. I had no problems all day and then suddenly poof not there. No dash lights, no chimes, no warning.......just no steering. We called a tow truck the next day and it was taken to out mechanic, who told us that it had to go to the dealership to be fixed. The whole steering column had to be replaced.

The contact owns a 2009 mercury mariner. The contact stated that the power steering failed and the steering wheel had to be turned with force. The failure was experienced numerous times. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who stated that the steering torque sensor needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was contacted and stated that the vehicle was previously repaired per nhtsa campaign number: 14v284000 (steering); however, the power steering control module software was updated rather than replaced. The manufacturer refused to assist with the repair. The dealer was not contacted. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 118,000.

While traveling at 55 mph, power steering stopped working making vehicle very hard to steer. By turning key off and restarting, while tugging on steering wheel, power steering will start working and may last 30 minutes or 3 minutes. While working, steering wheel shakes and makes noise. Vehicle pulls to the left. Ford denies having had this problem before and wants to replace steering column for $1,396.57. Complaints on the internet about this problem are numerous. I do not want to buy another defective steering column and don't understand that power steering problem would be solved.

Lost power steering. Light is on for the electric power steering assist.happened while driving.

I drove my 2009 mariner 45 minutes to a nearby city. After shopping i turned on the car and had no electronic power assist. I turned the car off and back on and it returned. I parked at the next store to shop and when i returned there was no power steering until i restarted the mariner. It then worked for about a half hour on the drive home and cut out on the highway and would not come back on at that point. The next day it was fine. I did take it to a ford dealer to check fault codes and recalls and there wasn't anything showing in the system. The power steering was working fine until a week later the issue returned.

My daughter's car got a power steering error message and the power steering stopped working.the truck is un-driveable.i looked it up online and found:if a vehicle shows a history of a loss of the torque sensor signal or fault codes relating to the pscm when the vehicle is brought in for the recall remedy, the affected components will be replaced, free of charge. The recall began on july 18, 2014. Owners may contact ford customer service at 1-800-392-3673. Ford's number for this recall is 14s05.it turns out that the warranty repair was done in 2014 and ford feels like the problem was fixed.obviously what ever they did did not correct the problem.the truck is unusable, the repair is $2000++ and ford is not willing to help.

The electric power steering on my 2009 mercury mariner hybrid has suddenly stopped working.i can't turn the steering wheel without great effort.

I turned on my car and went to pull out of my driveway and i had a hard time turning my steering wheel. I drove for a little bit and i can't turn the wheel easily. I looked into what the problem could be and read that there was a torque sensor recall on my make and model but when i called the dealership i was told there was no recall.

The contact owns a 2009 mercury mariner. The contact stated that the when the vehicle was started, the steering wheel vibrated without warning. In addition, the contact stated that when the wheel was turned to the left or to the right, there was a clicking noise emitting from steering column.the vehicle was taken to a dealer, where it was diagnosed that the software needed to be updated. The vehicle was serviced under nhtsa campaign number: 14v284000 (steering) however, the failure recurred. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 115,910.

Power steering assist failure on dash. Making things difficult to turn in low speed turns. Contacted ford and was told the computer was flashed in 2013, before i even owned the car. Was told that it would be my responsibility and to hold receipts because i be able to get reimbursed for part or all of costs associated with this issue. Now ford says no go! looking around on issues with the torque sensor and noted many people going through the same as i have. Seems to me ford is just trying to get more parts replaced and doesn't care about our safety. This is an attempt to get ford on the ball to fix their vehicles. I've been a ford person for a long time, but considering going to take my future car purchases to other cars. Come on ford!

The power steering has gone out of my 09 mercury mariner.

Loss of electric power steering assist... On 01/24/2019while coming home from the store i noticed at the stop signs my steering wheel would shake back and fourth it has never done this so i just thought like the old vehicles maybe it was just low on fuelso the next morning i tried to drive out of my drive way and my steering was working anymore .

Vehicle power steering stop working while parked and as i started in the following day, it became almost imposible to steer while driving let along try to park or turn,

Started my car to warm up and noticed my steering wheel vibrating and twitching side to side . Upon driving itstill continued to vibrate and make a noise. The vibration and noise has become worse. Called ford dealer to have it looked at thought it might have something to do with the electric power steering recall.i received the recall in october but at this time my car was not acting up and i have busy work schedule so had not had it looked at yet. But on december 29th , 2014 i took it in. The mechanic tolls me all the recall was for was a software update. So i figured that would fix the vibration and it didn't . I feel just because my car don't throw a code at that time i took it in ford will not replace the torque sensor now even though the mechanic could visible see my steering wheel vibrating and twitching. So now i get to fix it my self like many other ford owners. All the software did for was is warn us our power steering is out. They should have been made to replace the defective torque sensors. If our torque sensors wasn't going out we wouldn't had needed that software up date. Ford is getting away with the cheap simple fix.i don't know much about the computers they use on the cars but the computer probably don't though a code unless something is not working at all not just going bad. The mechanic should be trained to diagnose with their eyes and ears too.

Power assist steering stops when turning while vehicle is moving. Also, no power steering when vehicle turned on after being turned off and sitting for a while. Seems to happen when making hard turns ,like backing into a parking spot, or turning around.

My power steering goes out while driving and sometimes fails to engage upon starting the vehicle.i can hear the sensor click on when starting the vehicle and if it doesn't click then the power steering doesn't work.i've contacted the dealership where i bought it and they say it doesn't apply to my vehicle although i match the description in the recall.the recall number is 14s05. I contacted ford who said they already did the repair before i owned it while also saying the recall doesn't apply to my vehicle.said the previous repair was only covered for 1 year/12000 miles.i'm having the exact issue as recall 14s05.i talked to gles in the phillippines call center.i asked to speak to someone higher up and they said i must send a letter to the main office in michigan.i've been trying to get some assistance and this and keep getting the run around.so here i am.

The contact owns a 2009 mercury mariner. The contact stated that the steering seized, which resulted in excessive effort to operate the vehicle. The failure occurred without warning. Rockland ford (165 new county road, thomaston, me) and the manufacturer were notified of the failure. The contact referenced nhtsa campaign number: 14v284000 (steering), but the vin was not included in the recall. The vin was not provided. The failure mileage was approximately 90,000.

Why was ford allowed to close out recall 14s05 ?my 2009 mariner was not included in the recalled vins - did ford neglect to include hybrid mariners and escapes that were built at the kansas city assembly plant between 2008 and 2011 ?i am looking at a $600 repair for a sensor that should never wear out - when nearly 3/4s of a million vehicles were recalled for this defective part.

Drove my wife to work on 12/28/2017and power steering was working fine.i stopped to eat and steering went to manual steering.it is not comfortable when i have a bad shoulder that has a partial replacement.researching i see they had a recall in 2014 and reading other complaints on this electronic power steering i feel should not be responsible to pay this apparent part failure that still occurs.ford should stand by this issue, because this is very inconvenient and unsafe.it was assembled at kansas plant.thanks

The contact owns a 2009 mercury mariner. While the vehicle was at a stop, the steering wheel module seized and the steering lost power. There were no warning indicators illuminated. The vehicle was turned off and restarted, but the failure recurred several times. The vehicle was taken to town and county ford (6015 preston hwy, louisville, ky 40219, 502-964-8131) where it was diagnosed that the steering wheel module needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and stated that there was no recall. The part was replaced at the contact's expense. The failure mileage was approximately 89,000.

The contact owns a 2009 mercury mariner. The contact stated that the windshield retained moisture on the inside and blocked her view. Previously, the passenger side floor board was replaced due to moisture retention. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer several times for the windshield failure. The dealer stated that they could not correct the failure. The manufacturer stated that the windshield moisture retention was a characteristic of the vehicle. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 1,906 and the current mileage was 12,600. Updated 05/09/12 updated 07/06/12

The under belly of my vehicle is all rusted.

The vehicle ac unit water drains directly over the front sub-frame and rusts through the frame, at which point the front driver side suspension will collapse and loss of steering results.this problem was acknowledged for some escape vehicles, but not its mercury mariner equivalent, even though it shares same part/problem.dealer refuses to cover repair and cust sevice suggested i contact nhtsa.

The contact owns a 2009 mercury mariner. While driving 60 mph, the vehicle made an abnormal noise and shook. The contact stated that the vehicle exhibited the same symptoms as listed in nhtsa campaign number: 15e045000 (suspension). The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who diagnosed the vehicle and stated that the wheel bearings failed. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer and dealer were not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 176,000.

Slight grinding noise when making a hard left turn, as into a driveway. (relitively slow speed, not creeping)

Throttle body stuck open

Faulty seal on the rear window has caused water to seep into the hatch release mechanism. Rear door will not open. There is no repair that can fix this issue. Cannot change rear lights due to being unable to open the rear door.

While driving the car will it suddenly stop receiving any fuel, car does not necessarily stall, it is very dangerous, becausei willhave to pull over shut the car off and it will restart, the wrench icon will come on, sometimes the engine icon, this at first was random, no pattern, once on the tobin bridge in boston, with very heavy traffic, thankfully was able to pull over out of the way, it would happen randomly for a few months and now it happens so often i am afraid to drive it, i have no money to bring this to a garage as i fear it will cost me way too much to fix, very disappointed with the vehicle, along with this issue the heater,ac fan only works on high, being a widow with very a low paying job i bought this and am still paying over 300 a month i am at a loss, there must be some way i can get this fixed at no cost to me, this vehicle was the first one i have ever financed and it turns out to be a lemon.

Was using cruise control down the road doing 45 miles per hours. While on a straight stretch and going up slight hill car was fine. When i started to go down the slight hill car seemed to sound like it was in neural gear and my rmps jumped to between 3 and 4. I looked to see if some how the car got accidently shifted into neutral and it wasn't it was still in drive. So i turned the cruise control off and everything went back to driving and sounding normal. This is now the third time this has happened.we just purchased this car and of course limited warranty is now over and this is now happening. Was wondering if there was a recall on something like this or if maybe other people are having this problem also. Please let me know as i feel this is now a unsafe vehicle and i wish i would of know this was gonna happen before i shelled out 12,000 for it because now i don't want to drive it especially with my children or my newborn grandson in the vehicle with me.

My truck stalls. I purchased a new battery, and it continues to stall while driving or idling.

I am getting continual throttle body errors on my 2009 mariner.it goes into low power mode so i can "limp home".it happens mostly on highways when i need to "punch it" and get alot of acceleration.

Car lost power and stopped while driving. Engine light came on then went off.

Traveling along with cruise control set at 65 when all of a sudden my vehicle decelerates. The "throttle body/throttle position switch" indicator light illuminated. Vehicle has had intermittently gone into "limp" since then. Lately it has happened at least once per day, often when trying to accelerate quickly or above 40mph. Check engine light illuminated yesterday (11/26/2013) and indicated a p2111 diagnostic code (throttle actuator stuck open). This is apparently a fairly common issue already under investigation. The solution seems to be have a dealer replace the throttle body (roughly $400 parts and labor).

When pulling up to a stop sign the car just stopped next time coming off interstate to stop the vehicle kinda of lunged the next tine it just tried to stall had to put in neutral and keep foot on gas to keep it running.

Driving up ramp to get on 95 car started slowing down after i gave it gas to get up ramp. I noticed a wrench light illuminated on dash so i pulled of manual after turning off car to see what it meant (throttle) isat for 5 fives started the car and it drove fine, but since then it has happen 3 more times.

Car engine stopped while driving at a low (10-20 mph) speed. Second time this happened. First time on 2011 replaced throttle body then. It happened again 12/31/2013. Ford service said throttle body needs to be replaced again.

Upon accelerating, vehicle stalled. Occurred on aug 29 and again on sept 4. Had to glide to a stop on highway shoulder, put car in park, turn off, and restart. I've had intermittent issues for a while where car doesn't accelerate when pushing on the accelerator, then it lurches forward. Ford dealership said it was throttle body and repaired it. Upon looking online, this seems to be an ongoing issue with certain escapes and mariners.

Driving along and unexpectedly engine goes in limp mode with no warning and no acceleration- extremely dangerous as was driving on expressway when this occurred.

Driving about 40 mph vehicle lost speed. Could not accelerate . Came to a stop point had to turn off vehicle.turn back on and was ok. Happened twice. Wentfor a diagnostic and was reported a problem with throttle actuator control system -.stuck closed. ???? check with dealer $435.00 . Check online and found out that mercury mariner is having this problem but no recall ?

While driving on the taconic state parkway, traveling at approx. 55 mph, the engine failed to respond to the throttle and while the car was still in gear, the vehicle merely began coasting.i safely steered the car to the shoulder of the road, and turned the vehicle off.after approximately 2 minutes, i was able to re-start thecar (with some hesitation).i then turned around to attempt to drive home.the same situation occurred one more time while traveling home (approx. 30 miles).i brought the car to metric motors of lake carmel, ny.their computer diagnostics identified the problem as the throttle actuator control.they said that they unstuck the part (cost to diagnose & make repairs $422+) and i again began driving the car.unfortunately, after visiting nyc on saturday, october 19, 2013, the same problem occurred, again while driving home on the taconic state parkway.i was able to start the car; however, the problem re-occurred approximately 10 more times over the 40 mile return trip to my home.each time the engine failed to respond to the throttle and while stile in gear, merely began coasting.each time, i safely steered the car to the shoulder, and eventually re-started the car and managed to make it home.

I was driving on the highway and suddenly the vehicle lost all speed control. I could not accelerate and the car began slowing down. I had to quickly change lanes and pull over to the shoulder. I put the car in park and turned off the engine, waited a few minutes, and then was able to start the car again. This same thing happened two days later.i have read other complaints about this same issue happening with mariners between 2009-2011. This needs to be recalled and fixed. It is incredibly dangerous to lose all acceleration control going 65 mph!!

The contact owns a 2009 mercury mariner. The contact stated that while driving 65 mph, the vehicle lost acceleration power then stalled. The vehicle was moved to the shoulder and restarted then the check engine light illuminated. The contact took the vehicle to a dealer, where they ran a diagnostic test and stated that the accelerator was defective and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired but the failure recurred. The contact took the vehicle back to the dealer but no defect was found. The failure mileage was 87,000. ...updated 07-10-13

My 2009 mercury mariner stalls while its idle, at a intersection or just waiting. It stalls then i started up right after it stalls.

Engine died while driving with engine and wrench light coming on. Took to dealer and found dtc code p2111 when troubleshooting. Dealer found internal fault with throttle body. Replaced throttle body and have not had problem since.

While driving my car suddenly began decreasing in speed, it appeared my gas pedal had been disconnected. The car was still on so i turned it off and back on and it worked fine. For a month before hand my car would make a loud bang and jolt when ever i switched between drive, reverse, park etc. When presenting the problem to ford they were very rude but explained i had heard about this issue online. They finally looked at the car for me and were given an error code (of p101 i believe).

The contact owns a 2009 mercury mariner. The contact stated that while driving approximately 50 mph, the vehicle abnormally accelerated. The contact applied the brakes and was able to stop the independent acceleration. The failure recurred three times. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 65,000.

Tool light comes on and car loses power in traffic, very, very dangerous. Dealership updated with computer but vehicle is still doing it. Please do a recall ford.

While driving approximately 35 mph, the vehicle lost all throttle.the engine continued to run.pulled over and placed the vehicle in park.pressed on accelerator but nothing happened.it would not rev the engine.restarted the vehicle and the throttle worked properly.this happened twice today.

While i was driving the car jerked as if i hit my brakes and it wouldn't let me accelerate anymore so i pulled over on the side of the road and the car was vibrating real rough so i turned the car off and sat there for a minute and tried starting it and it took a couple tries and i got down the road and pulled into where i was going and it did it again as i was pulling into a parking spot. I really hope this problem can get resolved soon with no cost iv done everything i can to my car to keep it in good condition as in getting the oil changed in it every three thousand miles and even putting the best gasoline in it at $3.65 cents a gallon so its time for ford/mercury to support there side of the situation.

The contact owns a 2009 mercury mariner.the contact was entering a parking space when the vehicle exhibited an abnormally loud revving sound and accelerated into a fence without warning.there were no injuries nor was a police report filed.the contact was able to secure an appointment to have a diagnostic performed on the failure.the manufacturer was notified of the failure but the vehicle was not repaired.the failure mileage was 26,006 and the current mileage was 26,011.updated 02/09/12*ljthe consumer stated the body damage was repaired. However, the vehicle continues to accelerate. Updated 02/13/12

The contact owns a 2009 mercury mariner. The contact stated that the windshield retained moisture on the inside and blocked her view.

Power steering stop working could not turn the steering wheel

The steering wheel locked up on me . I don't have the money to keep replacing this same part . I looked into the recalls for the vehicle . Tire pressure sensor fault.at startup, low tire pressure warning light flashes, then remains steady, although tire pressure is at recommended pressure (35 psi). Service technician indicates replacing faulty tire pressure sensor located on left front tire at estimated cost of $150. Customer manually checks tire pressure at least monthly.
