Vehicle loses all ability to control the throttle both while at highway speed and when pulling away from a stop. "wrench" fault indicator on the dashboard illuminates. Restarting the vehicle restores normal operating conditions until the issue reappears. There is no fault code on obdii reader after restarting the engine.

While driving down the road, all of the warning lights on the dash board came on and then the breaks failed.we were able to get to safety after going off the road.when taken into the ford motor company repair shop they reset the codes and said everything was fine, no parts to repair.less than 50 miles later, the same thing happened again injuring 3!this time it's the abs module.after calling the ford motor company, they refuse to admit there is any problem and no reason for a recall.we were given the nhtsa information to make a complaint and if eventually nhtsa informs ford that they must do a recall we can be given a refund for our money spent on this repair.our question is what happens when someone dies?does it take that before someone is going to do something about the known hybrid breaking problems?the manger at the ford motor company customer service doesn't think it's an issue worth looking into only to say that a vehicle with high mileage should be taken care of and repaired by the owners.not that ford is responsible for faulty parts!please nhtsa do something about the hybrid breaking system before multiple people continue to be injured or are killed!

My car, on 4-5 occasions now, has lost all power while traveling on the freeway at about 80 miles per hour.i called ford because of the electronic throttle body customer satisfaction program and my vehicle does not qualify because of the assembly plant that the car was built at.i can attest that my vehicle is doing the same exact thing that is described in the accounts of the problem with the throttle - without question.i urge you to expand the program that ford is being required to do for this massive (over 1 million vehicle) problem.this appears to me to go beyond a plant issue to an engineering issue with the part itself.

The contact owns a 2009 mercury mariner hybrid. The contact stated that while driving approximately 60 mph, the vehicle lost power and could not accelerate over 40 mph. The failure recurred on one other occasion. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 75,000.

2009 mercury mariner hybrid with 93000 miles driving 50 mph on a six-lane blvd. Hesitates briefly, then accelerator ceases to function completely.despite the extremely dangerous situation, we managed to maneuver the car off the road to safety.warning light (triangle with exclamation point) and warning message "stop safely now". The car computer knows there is a problem, why doesn't ford?they conducted a "customer satisfaction program" for millions of escape and mariner owners for this very issue - throttle body defect - but not hybrids.why not?it cost us $300 and nearly a multi-car accident.ford needs to be held accountable for manufacturers defects in all cars, not just some.putting families in harm's way because ford doesn't have the integrity to take responsibility for their vehicle issues is completely unacceptable.this should be investigated, and ford needs to be held liable.

The contact owns a 2009 mercury mariner hybrid. While driving 70 mph on a highway, the vehicle stalled. There were no warning indicators illuminated. The vehicle was able to restart after 5 to 20 minutes. The failure recurred seven times prior to this incident. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 113,000.

I was on my way to drop my 3 month old off at daycare and then to work.i was driving down the highway going 60 mph with the cruise control set when i feel the car start to jerk back and forth a little. I look at my gauges all are normal except the rpm gauge is jumping up and down then all of a sudden it is kick out of cruise control, and i lose acceleration and a wrench light came on.i was almost hit by 2 vehicles because of the sudden lose on speed. As i was losing acceleration, i was trying not to brake because i thought it was going to die.it did not die but i was not able to go any faster than 25 -30 mph. I drove it straight to my mechanic and got the code p2112.this is for the throttle body.there was a recall issued on this for the mercury mariners but it did not include the hybrids.please help

Throttle body problem. All of a sudden i had no power and barely made it home. I had to be towed to ramey ford in princeton, wv they replaced throttle body but i had to pay $100 deductible. This car was part ofa customer service arrangement worked out with nhtsa butthe vin was not included and i was told it was not covered for cost of replacement .this was a very dangerous situation and could have resulted in an accident. I feel the part should have been replaced without any charge since other vehicles in this class had the same problem. There was no offer to reimburse me for my tow since the vehicle was totally disabled.this was a problem that ford and the nhtsa were aware of and my vehicle had the same problem as others. I feel that i should not have to pay for labor or tow to correct a defect.

The abs system turn off, took to shop they could not fine trouble it had reset. Today same thing abs turn off. Will take it in if it does not reset. Both times that it turn off car was parked and i was just starting it to leave..*i would see a warning that says 'regen brake failure.'*the abs just went out one day while coming home from the store, and would reset when the car sat for a while. And syre was not fun to drive, but unless it stayed off there was not much they could do at ford to fine out what was going on. It went off and stayed off and then ford fixed it, replaced the abs module it has been o.k. Since then. I did not like the price of the repair at $1933.03. I do not think a women would be able to stop her car if this happen to her while driving you need too much push on the brake to stop even when going slow, and if going the speed posted two feet maybe*smch

Mercury mariner hybrid 2009 had it for 18 months and august 3, 2010 upon an approach to a stop light engaging the brakes i heard an audible warning sound and looked at my console to see the warning to check brakes, at that moment my brake pedal went soft and to the floor, i had to apply the emergency brake to stop the mariner to avoid hitting the vehicle in front of me. I parked asap in a gas station leaving the mariner and calling for a ride back to my office to pick up another vehicle to get home and the next morning contacted my dealership instructing me to contact ford to get it towed to them, later that day i get a call from the service department telling me that it was not covered under warranty because i had 40,000 mile on a 18 month vehicle and the repair cost is $1,700.00. My wife and self could have been injured or worse. I will be willing to cooperate to any extent to help escalate this concern as a safety recall issue.

This vehicle has lost brakes 3 times. My now 17 year old daughter is the driver!the first time the brake pedal went to the floor and pumping it would not help. Putting the car in neutral and using the emergency brake was the only way to stop the car.a non-ford car technician told us it was a possible brake booster issue and the best thing to do would be for it to happen again and bring it to ford for the codes to be read.i drove the car for over a week and it would not repeat the problem. The second time was also around 40 mph and pushing the brakes as hard as possible would only slightly stop the car and it would keep jumping forward.my daughter had to stop with the e-brake.i took it to ford for diagnosis and repair.ford replaced the vacuum pump/hose assembly.then 2 days later, she lost brakes again. Had to use e-brake to stop in busy traffic.the southeast region ford technician came to diagnosis this car. After 9 days at the shop the brake booster assembly was replaced. We have been told again that this should take care of the problem. Fyi ( each time the car lost brakes, by turning off the car and back on again it would regain them).i am now driving this car to determine if the issue is in fact taken care of.this has been a very scary situation - especially since my daughter is the driver of this vehicle. When reading automobile blogs it appears brakes are an issue not only with the mariner hybrid, but the escape hybrid as well. I would like this investigated.

Vehicle steering is intermittently going out and driver is unable to turn the vehicle.i have contactted ford and there is an existing recall (14s05) for this very item and my vehicle (year, make & model) is listed but they say my specific vehicle does not qualify.

Power steering went out, couldn't turn vehicle fast enough to avoid crash. Recall 14s05.

Power steering cut out, quit working, on left turn, speed about 10 mph.outage lasted about 1-2 seconds.believe would have hit far side curb if steering had not spontaneously recovered.this was first occurrence.drove car directly to dealer from incident; diagnosis tbd.afraid to drive.at higher speed or if had lasted just a little longer would have wrecked!

Electronic power steering module failure, replace entire module & column for $1698.89.said previous recall was performed and ford bears no responsibility.

While making a sharp left turn on a city street the power steering assist system failed completely! i barely avoided a collision. Apparently there have been thousands of similar failures. Why hasn't ford paid for a repair on a system which is obviously flawed and dangerous when it fails!

The contact owns a 2009 mercury mariner hybrid. While driving approximately 25 mph, the power steering failed without warning and the steering became difficult to turn. The vehicle was not taken to be diagnosed or repaired. The vehicle was not included in nhtsa campaign number: 14v284000 (steering). Neither the dealer nor the manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 96,000.

Steering torque sensor is failing, resulting in loss of steering control.this vehicle was not included in the recall that ford already issued for the problem in 2014 but should be.

The steering locked for 1 to 2 seconds during a right hand turn on an entrance ramp to a highway.it happened again 2 months later with the steering locking for 1 to 2 seconds on a left hand turn after stopping at a stop sign.

I was approaching a stop sign going about 15 mph and the applied the brake.instead of stopping, the car accelerated and i had to steer around a car in the intersection to avoid an accident.i applied the emergency brake and threw the car into park to stop it.

The contact owns a 2009 mercury mariner hybrid. The contact stated that after applying the brakes in the parking lot the vehicle accelerated. The vehicle did not respond to the brakes and did not stop until the vehicle crashed into a parked vehicle.after hitting the vehicle the rpms continued to increase and did not stop until the engine was turned off. The vehicle was towed to the dealer to be inspected. The police did not file a report because they said it was in a school parking. The failure and current mileages were 14143.
