Start engine, air bag light on dash illuminates, beep alarm sounds for a series of five beeps followed by 1 second of silence, and repeats for five repetitions of the same. Light remains on and after 30 minutes of driving on road operation, the alarm repeats for 5 repetitions as before. This continues as long as the engine is operated without turning off. When shut off and restarted, the alarm starts all over for the series of 5 beeps in 5 repetitions. My dealer says this is not a safety issue and wants over $800.00 for a new computer module. I have no way to document complaint or dealer response.

Airbags light stays on and keeps beeping no accident involved

Air bag light comes on and blinks code 3 3 then dings an alarm 5 dings x 5 times every 30 minutes, light stays on. I understand code 33 or 34 are seat belt pretentioners that are known to fail on mid 2000's ford vehicles. Mine is 2006 grand marquis. This appears to be a defect in materials causing a saftey concern for myself and passengers. The air bag system is disabled until repaired and the repair is very expensive. The vehicle has not been in an accident and it has been diagnosed as a driver side pretentioner high resistance failure. The mechanic suggested they replace both driver and passenger side since the passenger side will most likely also fail soon according to his experiance. This should be recalled to have pretensioners replaced since it is a known defect and safety hazard caused by ford parts.

The contact owns a 2006 mercury grand marquis. The contact stated that the air bag warning light illuminated continuously.the vehicle was taken to the dealer for diagnostic testing where the technician confirmed that the failure was contributed to the faulty front driver and passenger side seat belt pretensioner. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 60,177.updated 8/28/14 updated 09/11/2014

On september 9, 2015 ipurchased a used 2006 mercury grand marquis ls. I was informed that the airbag light was on. I subsequently found that there had been some minor damage to the lower front of the vehicle, notresulting in airbag deployment. In researching the problem and to determine if there had been an airbag recall by the nhtsa, i found that there had been 57 registered complaints on the repair pal website and that a complaint had alsobeen filed with the nhtsa.for this problem and that the problem was a result of defective seat-belt assemblies.there should be a safety recall issued for this problem as it effects the proper functionality of the restraint system in the event of a collision.

The contact owns a 2006 mercury grand marquis. The contact stated that the air bag warning light illuminated. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 73,000.

In feb, 2014, i originally had a minor crash when another driver was cited for reckless driving.his insurance paid for my damage.no airbags were deployed on either me, the driver, or my mother, the passenger.we were belted in. Recently, on september 7th, 2015, the airbag warning light and chimes came on when i started the vehicle.the light continues to come on, the chime rings in 3 sets of 5 periodically.the dealer that fixed the original damage, alan jay, ran a $55 diagnostic and stated the passenger seat belt pretensioner was open, and that this could have only occurred in an accident.i asked why the system did not respond the 1 1/2 years earlier when the accident occurred?alan jay did not have an answer, but stated my entire restraint system and airbags would not operate in any future crash, until i replace the passenger seat belt, which will cost$780.00 alan jay ford / mercury said to contact national general insurance because "the pretensioner doesn't just go" that an accident had to have occurred to cause this.national general called me back today and stated this is untrue.there has been multiple complaints on the mercury grand marquis airbag light activating and shutting down the restraint system and turning off the airbags for no cause. They referred me to www.carcomplaints.com, and i filed the 19th complaint for this problem on the 2006 grand marquis model.there are also multiple complaints on the same problem with other model years for the grand marquis air bag restraint system shutting down.why has there not been a recall to fix this problem?why don't the mercury dealers know about this problem?like many others, i am forced to drive my only vehicle in an unsafe condition until i can afford the $780.00 to fix it?

2006 mercury grand marquis. Consumer writes in regards to recall repair issues.the consumer stated the air bag light illuminated and there was a dinging sound coming from the vehicle.

Light for air bag came on with warning sound. Had local garage fix with new parts from ford dealer. This morning upon backing out of garage at approximately 70,000. Miles same problem of light and sound. Supposed to take it to same garage to diagnose tomorrow. It cost me, a 78 yr. Widow, $561.72 to replace this in aug. Of 2013. I am not going to spend another cent on this problem. What in the world has happened to air bag installation?

Had to replace both passenger and driver side seat belt assemblies due to defective airbag sensors within two months of each other with less than 14000 andlimited use of passenger side belt. Per web inquiries this is a common problem. As it is a safety issue as airbags won't deploy and it is quite common, how come a recall and replacement has not been ordered? it has cost me in excess of $1100 for their defective parts.

First noticed airbag lightbegan flashing on and off. Within two days the airbag light came on and remained on. Had the dealer check this out. The report came back driver side seat belt was at fault. No repair available must be replaced.

Air bag light on the dash comes on and stay on while driving.

My air bag light came on and warning beeps consecutively 5 times then stops and repeats with 5 beeps. After checking the manual i went online and found out there are several complaints regarding this make and model having the same prolem. Why is there so recall????also would seem to be a hazard regarding no airbag deploy and very expensive to fix.

Started car to go to work idling in drive way and i got an air bag light and alarm going off, turned car off and restarted and same thing. Was scared to drive until i talked to mechanic at local dealership. He said the problem is in the seat belt assembly and would have to be replaced.parts about 260 dollars plus labor probably another 200 dollars. Researching air bag light issues for grand marquisfor fixes for my problem i discovered there are several other owners of same model with same issue. Was wondering if others has reported and if so why has there not been a recall. I love my car otherwise and poor single father raising my children on my own and cannot afford these repairs plus driving a car that the air bags possible wont work on lord forbid we were in an accident.

Air bag light comes on and has a dinging noise that goes through a cycle of dinging 5 times then has break of approximately 15 min then does it again. Has not been in accident and shows no sign of problem with actual parts.

The contact owned a 2006 mercury grand marquis. While driving at an unknown speed with the cruise control activated, the vehicle suddenly accelerated. The rear brakes locked when the failure occurred. The contact was unable to stop the vehicle and crashed into a tree. The air bags failed to deploy. The front seat passenger was injured and received medical attention. The vehicle was destroyed. A police report was filed. The vin was not available. The failure mileage was 38,000.

Tamara i just love this car. I don't know why they have to make cheaper cars an smaller trunks.any way on driver side the air bag light is on. An as i'm trying to getsomewhere.than the beeping noise starts up randomly an it can get on your nerves. But if i take it to a dealerships i can'tafford their prices.thankyou. Oh i love how big the trunk is.

The vehicle was taken to the dealer who diagnosed that the air bag sensor was defective and needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and the vehicle was not repaired. The vin was not available. The failure and current mileage was 82,000.failure of airbag supplemental restraint system was diagnosed may 2011. Ford indicated repair parts would not be available until october 2011. Because of inordinate time frame, 5 months owner requested for to provide a vehicle until parts were secured. Serious safety issue are at stake until repairs are made! updated 09/01/2011 *ln

The contact owns a 2006 mercury grand marquis. The contact stated that after starting the vehicle and driving for 2 minutes, the air bags and seat belts warning lights would illuminate with an audible beep. The vehicle was taken to ron tirapelli ford, inc. (4355 w jefferson st, shorewood, il 60404) and the contact was informed that the part to do the repair was not in stock, since there was no recall associated with the failure. The vehicle remained at the dealer unrepaired. The manufacturer was not informed of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 81,000.

While driving the air bag warning light came on. Mechanic determined that the passenger seat belt pretensioner was bad. Replaced pretensioner at 68527 miles on the odometer. Fixed problem. At 68669 miles the air bag warning light again came on. Mechanic now says the driver side pretensioner is bad.this automobile has never been in an accident. First incident 9/16/16.second incident 10/27/16.

Air bag light stays on and makes a pinging noise often. The car has never been in an accident.they should have a recall on this.seems it is a safety issue.

My 17 year old slid off road in snow storm, hit tree head on, center of bumper contact, bumper reinforcement bar driven into radiator, both frame rails bent, yet no air bag deployment took place.

While leaving my home i noticed the amber airbag lamp on the dashboard had remained illuminated; the warning chime also sounded periodically.upon taking the vehicle to a dealership that day i was told the driver's side seatbelt and buckle had to be replaced, and that the airbag would not deploy until the necessary repairs were made.since that time i have driven without having the repair done because of the cost (approximately $800).i have done considerable research on the internet about this problem and found numerous instances of this problem occurring on the mercury product line, primarily from repair forums, advice websites, etc.my search was by no means all inclusive, but i feel it representative of a systemic problem with, at least, the mercury product line, and may extend to other ford products.it certainly represents a serious safety issue concerning the use of airbags for passengers and driver. Thank you in advance for your consideration.[xxx]information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).

I was driving along and the dashboard "front airbag light" came on and a beeping sound began.since my vehicle is a mercury and there are no mercury dealers now, i called the nearest ford dealership.they say that when the light is flashing it means my airbag is not working.if i bring the vehicle in, they will diagnose it for $49 and then tell me how much it will cost to fix it.they said there is no recall on this issue.i checked the internet and found several automotive forums that discuss this issue.apparently it has been a topic of discussion since at least 2008.i'm concerned for my safety and will make arrangements to have the situation accessed and then fixed.however in today's economy, many people will just let the light continue to be lit and do nothing.this means that their airbags will be inoperable.i think either nhtsa or ford should consider a recall on this.

First passenger airbag light and chirping sound came on. Paid the high cost of getting repaired then about 3 weeks the driver side light and chirping sound came on having to get that repaired!!airbag light stays on constantly and the chirping sound comes and goes.comes on when i turn the car on.

Same problem as reported on nhtsa id number: 11405633

A few minutes after starting my merc gr mar 2006 i get a 5 pingling singnals that continues for about 4 minutes, then stops, the airbag lights shows on the dashboardafter turning off my car and restarting it the same pingling sounds comes on againi have taking my car to the ford dealer and could get no real help, told it did not effect my driving the car, but would have to spend almost 1,000 for a diagnostic test, why its not my fault, this stared already late 2013,, had not used the car for 4 months when this occurred, please help, manufacturer has to be responsible to correct this, very annoyingsound

The contact owns a 2006 mercury grand marquis. The contact stated that while driving 30 mph, the driver's side air bag warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer for diagnosis where it was stated that the driver's side pretensioner failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired and the manufacturer was notified. The approximate failure mileage was 38,000. The consumer was informed a small spring in the seat belt harness broke and the only way to replace it, was to replace the entire seat belt harness. Two months later, the failure happened again. Updated 04/01/14

Air bag light started blinking, same sequence repeated five times after wards it stayed on. After a minute or so a warning beep sounded. The beeps were in a sequence of 5 beeps which repeated five times then repeated again every half hour while driving.. Mechanic replaced the whole drivers side seat belt assembly - $800.00. A year later - same problem. Ford should have a recall for this problem. I refuse to pay another $800. I took out the fuse that sounded the beep alarm as it was driving me crazy.

No accident, 2/23/16, the air bag light and chimes activated when car started and continued while car ran.very distracting.also, once, the 'air bag off light' near top of glove compartment came on. Checked nhtsa site and found many complaints about air bags/seat belt tensioners, and air bags not deploying which is why i am filing this complaint. -- this is obviously a safety hazard, why no recall? will go to my dealer in maryland to find out more.

Digital speedometer unreadable in daylight driving after working perfectly for 7 months dealer replaced headlamp switch and dashboard cluster assembly still not fixed after 4 months.

My 2006 mercury grand marquis ls premium car has an unresolved stalling issue.the problem is exacerbated when the car's engine warms up, especially during warmer weather.it tends to stall out at extended stoplights or if the vehicle needs to be stopped within a short distance.my car first began stalling after i had it washed in gasoline station's automatic car wash.shortly after it was washed, the engine began running extremely rough and then finally stalled out with the 'engine' light on yellow light on the dashboard.the first two master mechanics of two different repair facilities suggested that the engine's pcm was bad and needed to be replaced at a ford dealership.i took my car to a third repair facility and the mechanic swapped out a used pcm for a 4.6 l application and reprogrammed it for ford's most recently issued software update.the car continues to stall after the used pcm was reprogrammed and the mechanic concluded that he was sure that the stalling problem is not related to the engine's pcm!i've paid approximately $874.00 among three different automobile repair facilities and all master mechanics among these three garages could not pinpoint why my vehicle is stalling.finally, a master mechanic of a volunteer church garage also could not pinpoint why my car continues to stall and he suggests that the only fix is to sell my car.when i called a local ford dealership to see how they would try to fix it, the service manager explained that they would try to replicate the conditions that made it stall in the first place.i explained that this method was tried by all three repair facilities, all to no avail, and that i am not interested in paying additional fees for future diagnostic tests that cannot pinpoint the failure.to prevent stalling at stoplights, i need to use both the gas and brake pedals at stop lights!

At 110000 miles my engine started to run very ruff, and would die out at an idle, took it to the dealer and was told it has a cracked plastick intake manifold.when i expressed my concern about putting another plastic part back on,i was told they have redesigned the part because of all the problems they have had with the 4.6 ltr engine and the plastic intakes!

Upon readying for stop the vehicle surged forward. I had to put in neutral and wait until the surge discontinued. This has been going on for several months. It has become a incident that happens more often. It is very scary. A had jump happens when i put it back in gear.

My 2006 grand marquis original plastic intake manifold developed a crack at the drivers side rear intake bolt area causing it to leak antifreeze. This caused me to have to spend $240.00 to buy a new dorman replacement and install it. Ford continues to use these cheap plastic manifolds despite losing a class action lawsuit against them for this problem. There will be more of these plastic manifold failing in the near future to be sure. This problem should be addressed by a new class action lawsuit due to fords continued incompetence as a manufacturer.my car also suffers froma defective eatc air conditioner control that blows air out of the wrong vents and won't activate the ac. Also a bolt broke on the drivers side front seat due to rust. Also thedigital compass has quit working. Also had a water leak in the back passenger floor area.

On several occasions since i've owned this vehicle (i am original owner) when i step on the brakes hard the engine accelerates. Recently it has gotten worse and i know i'm not touching the accelerator. Today it was so bad the i was standing on the brakes with both feet and burning rubber. I shifted to park and the engine went onto max acceleration. I shut of the engine and restated and found it was still at max acceleration. I shut it off again and waited 30 seconds. When i then restarted it ran normally. Fortunately i was at a stop sign or i think there would have been a collision if in traffic.

With only 30,000 miles, the fuel rail assembly corroded through, created a pin hole and sprayed fuel against the hood assembly and over the entire top of the engine. This occurred only 2 days after the vehicle had been repaired by ford for the safety steering recall. The vehicle was repaired and mechanic mentioned that he has never seen this before and this assembly should not have corroded.

No abnormal operation noted before event. The failure is spark plug blow out on a 4.6l engine. The failure occurred twice in a 2 week time period on the same cylinder damaging the spark plug and coil pack. First instance was the factory installed spark plug.

My 2006 grand marquis has a very annoying roaring noise when the tachometer is between 1800 and 2000 rpm. Also at highway speed between 65mph and 70mph which is about 1800 on the tachometer. Very irritating.

When parking a newly acquired used 2006 mercury grand marquis at idle speed in a local shopping center, the engine accelerated and the harder i pressed the brake the faster the engine ran. To the extent the traction control activated and the wheels spun in place.the only way i prevented crashing into three parked was to shift the transmission into neutral with the engine racing.what apparently happened was my foot was not centered on the brake pedal and the pedal traveled to the point where i was also pressing on the accelerator.evidently the travel distance of the brake pedal was so long i pressed on the accelerator pedal at the same time.i took the car to a mercury dealer and was told this was a common problem, but he could not correct it because the brake and accelerator pedals were operating as designed.the dealers technician reported that my complaint was that the pedals seemed to close together.this may be true, but the problem in my mind is the travel distance of the brake pedal.i was also told ford has not as yet issued a solution to this safety problem.

Exterior light on driver's side stopped working.i noticed when i pulled into my garage that the light was not working.the only way i could continue to drive the car is when i used the high beams.now, as of last night (march 27, 2013), the driver's side high beam is not working at all.i have taken the car to the repair shop and told the lighting module needs to be replaced and that it would cost approximately $700 to fix.i need the lights to work, so i am having it repaired.

On 6/1/14 i was driving south on sr44 in ohio near lake punderson and following a farmer driving a farm tractor.when i got a chance to pass him i accelerated to kick in the passing gear and when i cleared him and left off the throttle it did not respond instead it continued at a high speed for a few seconds before letting off.i thought maybe the throttle got caught on my car mat. I very rarely push the throttle to the floor.then yesterday 8/20/14 i was with my family traveling north on i-77 in akron ohio and again i kicked the car into passing gear to pass and this time it accelerated and did not retract on my letting off. I slid the shifter into neutral and placed my foot under the pedal and lifted up and it came up but i thought i felt some resistance with the peddle.i continued on to my destination only a few miles to copley ohio.i parked the car turning off the engine and slid the seat back and on my knees in the driveway i reached in with my right hand and pushed the peddle all the way in and let go of it and to my surprise it remained in the full throttle position. I then pulled the throttle back and felt resistance. I pushed it back in again and it stuck but came back withless resistance so i pumped it back and forth and got rid of the sticking problem.i then thought it may of developed some light rust on the linkage so i looked up under the dash and there is no place to lubricate that's when i realized i really had a problem and possibly a lot of people owning a similar car.as of this writing i went out to the car in the garage and reached in and pushed the throttle to the floor and it came back nicely.a lot of people will not react as i did and shift into neutral.

My husband noticed (the week of august 11th 2014 that our gas tank was hanging loose, only held up by the filler hose.the straps had rusted out.he had just filled up the tank approx. A day or two before he noticed the gas tank hanging down.we had to have a tow truck take it to the mechanic for fear of sparks causing an explosion.many older people have this car and it would be horrible if they didn't notice something like this and drove it on expressway with the tank hanging.we also reported to ford mtr. Co. Quite some time ago that the gas pedal is close to the brake and that causes your foot to be partially on the break and the gas pedal.the car races a little ways ahead until you realize what is happening.we reported this quite some time ago to lincoln mercury but no one did anything about it.the gas tank is the most worrisome of the two defects.we did report this to ford mtr. Co, today 08/20/2014.thank you verymuch.i hope you are as concerned as we are.as for the break and gas pedal lincoln mercury dealer seemed to know this happens.

My 2006 grand marquis original plastic intake manifold developed a crack at the drivers side rear intake bolt area causing it to leak antifreeze. Straps holding the fuel tank broke due to rust. The tank fell off. The right side of the tank was resting on the ground, the left side held up by the filler tube only.this happened while vehicle was parked in driveway overnight. Could have had very serious consequences if it happened while moving.

Immediately after filling the fuel tank, while stopped at an intersection, the fuel tank fell out of the vehicle. Investigation has revealed that both straps holding the fuel tank into the vehicle have failed due to rust and corrosion. The failure is approximately 3-4 inchesfrom the straps rear attachment points. The only thing preventing the tank from completely separating from the vehicle is the filler tube which is holding the drivers side of the fuel tank in relative position with approximately a 3in drop. The passengers side has completely dropped and is resting on the ground. I believe the tank straps are defective because while there is some evidence of rust to other components in the vicinity of these straps, none of them have anywhere near the degree of rust the straps have. Both straps have rusted through and failed allowing the fuel tank to separate and fall to the ground on the passenger's side. Fortunately this occurred at a stop, had this occurred at speed there is a high potential for a catastrophic fuel fire which could have resulted in injury or death.

While entering onto the woodrow wilson bridge from i-295s on 2/1/2018, i pulled into the center lane and backed off the gas pedal, butthe car continued to accelerate on its own. Luckily the traffic was light, afterhitting the brake and the off button for the cruise control, to no effect, i was able to pull into the right lane and turn the car off. While still in motion, i turned the key back on and everything was normal again. Since it wasn't a cruise control issue, it would appear it is similar to the toyota problem with the drive by wire issue.

I have had 37 instances of engine acceleration when i brake with my 2006 mercury grand marquis.the first instance was in may, 2007.i depress the brake pedal, and the engine first slows to approx 850 - 900 rpm then begins running up to over 2500 rpm.the dealer says i'm hitting the brake and the gas at the same time.i've tried doing that and it is extremely difficult.i suspect a computer malfunction where the braking is triggering a computer-initiated engine acceleration.

- the contact owns a 2006 mercury grand marquis.when the engine was started it would rev very high.when the brakes were applied the vehicle would abruptly go into drive.the failure occurred intermittently.there were no warning indicators.the ford dealer was unable to diagnose or duplicate the failure.the failure mileage was approximately 200 miles, and the current mileage was 11,000 miles.

Sporadically and without warning, my cruise control will activate causing the vehicle to immediately accelerate.i had been using the control but had de-activated it but depressing the brake which leaves the unit "on" but not activated.

First noticed airbag lightbegan flashing on and off. Within two days the airbag light came on and remained on. Had the dealer check this out. The report came back driver side seat belt was at fault. No repair available must be replaced.

First passenger airbag light and chirping sound came on. Paid the high cost of getting repaired then about 3 weeks the driver side light and chirping sound came on having to get that repaired!!airbag light stays on constantly and the chirping sound comes and goes.comes on when i turn the car on.

Air bag light came on vehicle when opening door, took to private shop and dealer future ford of roseville and both states it is a common issue with this model.called ford on their toll free number and stated since it's not a ntsb recall they are not obligated to fix.error is that tensioner spring or/and canister in tensioner is over sensitive and will likely fail and cause a high ohm reading to the computer, causing error light on, to blink 3-3 for driver side or 3-4 for passenger, and disabling airbags.dealership is back logged on orders for new seatbelt assemblies, that in some cases may take over two weeks for order to clear.assemblies are faulty by design. Ntsb should investigate ford and make a mandatory recall for this and similar models and multiple years that use this assembly type, since this issue is a safety risk, and a design fault.

While driving the repeated chiming sound began and a light illuminated on the dash display. This continued as long as the car was being driven. I drove it to a private repair shop that maintains my vehicles. He diagnosed it as the failure of the seat belt pre-tensioner assembly. He called the service manage of one of the local ford motor service managers, describedthe problem and the sm agreed that it was the problem. He did the repairs.. Cost to me was $539.42.. The repair was done 2/20/2014.in july 2014 the same chiming/light flashing again occurred. Took it backto my repair shop, he again called his friend, the service manager of the same ford dealership who said this problem had occurred before on other mercurys. This was not the same seatthat was repaired the first time. Iagain paid$539.82.during either the first or second assembly failure my private shop owner contacted the service manager of that ford dealer and arranged for me to take my mercury to him, personally, and he had it checked and said that not only was this correctly diagnosed and repairs done but that they had a good many mercurys that had this problem.. He said it was not a recall item.i called the ford motor company, was transferred to "someone"(a female) who said that this problem was not a recall item, denied me any recourse offer and when i stated i intendedto contact "someone" else, said that was my privilege. I did not know who else to contact and therefore had to drop the matter. I have not had any further problem with this failure and repair part.only today did i happen to find thisproblemoffer on my computer.i'm 87 years old and not too computer savvy. I don't know if i can expect a response from you to me but hope my problemwould get all the attention possible. Will i be advised of any action taken?.

Paint started to peel in the front center of the roof, a small spot.i thought a stone or rock hit it.then around the sides of the back windshield.this spring the hood started to peel also.first in one spot then in multiple spots.it starts by a bubble, then it pops and peels off in chips, which stick to the windshield at times.then it starts to peel off in big pieces.at all times it peels down to the bare metal.it definitely appears that the affected areas(parts) are not primed.when driving you can see the paint start to lift off and let go.this problem seems it will not stop until the whole hood and roof are bare.seat belt light does not go off when buckled. You can attempt to buckle and unbuckle multiple times it works and does not work.some days there is no problem and other days it is an issue.

Steering wheel wont lock when i turn off the engine don't know if its part of a recall and didn't fix it right... Brake light when i step hard on brake pedal the brake light comes on for few seconds.

Over the course of several months the engine seemed to rev up while the brakes were applied for a stop. On july 29,2013 i took the car to a reliable service center and asked for an analysis of what the cause could be. Analysis result indicated that the throttle body assembly was the problem.a new assembly was installed, and i was informed that ford has a bulletin on that particular part on 2006 grand marquis. The mechanic felt that a recall should be issued for safety reasons.

Upon readying for stop the vehicle surged forward. I had to put in neutral and wait until the surge discontinued. This has been going on for several months. It has become a incident that happens more often. It is very scary. A had jump happens when i put it back in gear.

Driving at 50 mph.passed slower-moving vehicle by pushing accelerator to floor(full power) during initial pass, then released accelerator.engine rpm's did not reduce, but instead climbed rapidly with the throttle stuck at the "full power" position.the vehicle continued to accelerate rapidly, reaching a speed of about 75 mph in 50 mph zone on two lane road.upon recognizing the accelerator was stuck in "wide open" position, i slammed my foot against the accelerator pedal repeatedly, and after about three strikes the engine rpm reduced to normal (consistent with accelerator pedal position) and i was able to regain control of the speed and slow the vehicle.i checked to ensure that neither the floor mat nor any foreign objects were impinging on accelerator pedal.i found no objects interfering with the accelerator pedal.this same problem occurred two more times within two weeks.i reported the events to my local mechanic and he ran a computer diagnostic on the system.it showed no abnormalities or codes. Two mechanics examined the system under the hood and noted no abnormalities. They indicated they "cleaned" something (contacts?).i subsequently took the vehicle onto a larger road without traffic present and attempted to duplicate the problem.when i pressed the accelerator to the floor (full throttle), the same problem occurred.the engine rpm continued to climb rapidly and the vehicle accelerateduncontrollably and rapidly. Taking my foot off the accelerator resulted in absolutely no reduction to engine power.engine rpm and speed rapidly increased as the engine was stuck in the "full power" position.i was only able to regain control of the engine speed and vehicle speed by repeatedly slamming my foot against the accelerator pedal. After two or three hits, engine power reduced consistent with accelerator position.

Sporadically and without warning, my cruise control will activate causing the vehicle to immediately accelerate.i had been using the control but had de-activated it but depressing the brake which leaves the unit "on" but not activated.

I am certified safety professional with over 30 years experience working in the occupational safety field.twice within the last week, my vehicle accelerated to 5000 rpm while pressing the brake pedal to stop at an intersection.my foot was on the brake pedal and not on the gas pedal. I had to quickly shift into neutral to avoid entering the intersection into crossing traffic. Brakes would not hold. A few seconds after shifting into neutral the engine decelerated back to normal on its own.carpet was not the issue.this is a serious malfunction that could have killed me or someone else.

I had an incident of unintended acceleration on my mercury marquis. I was braking for a stop when the engine suddenly started racing. I put my foot on the brake hard but the car still continued to move slowly until i hit the car in front of me. There was no damage to either vehicle (fortunately) but the car's engine was completely out of control.

The vehicle accelerated on it's own while stopped with the brake depressed. Once in a parking lot waiting for a spot to clear.the second time while sitting at a red light. I held the brake down as hard as i could while thecar did a burn out and i noticed the traction light come on. It then just went back to normal. This is very dangerous. Someone in front of the car (another driver or pedestrian) can seriously get hurt or killed.

The vehicle acceleration by it self and could not stop it. Propelled thru the. Brakes and would not stop. We are taking car to ford dealer. The car engine was stopped and restarted run ok. Not sure if a recall about this yr. With this problem?

When i started the engine each morning on the2006 mercury grand marquis ls it revved to 2000 rpms for 5 or 6 seconds, then down to 1000 rpmsfor about 2 seconds, then down to normal.it seemed to me it was going to damage the engine revving so high when the engine was cold and very little oil in the upper portion. What couldbe done about lowering the startingto rev.

I was driving up to a light and slowing down. When at 25mph the car suddenly accelerated and i had to put all my weight on the brake to stop.after about 10 seconds the car went back to normal and ran fine.since that incident my car has done that twice with the same result and i am worried someone will get hurt.i have been researching this online and have found other complaints. I will be taking the car to my mechanic asap.

Was getting on highway, accelerated more than normal to pass a very slow vehicle entering highway from 5 mph on highway (estimate 80 to 90% of full throttle), when i was safe of slow vehicle and let off the pedal, vehicle continued to accelerate to about 83 mph as i recall, i continued to press brake, still accelerating, pressed steering control buttons to make sure cruise controlwas off (did not have it on previous to this), pressed brakes again and again, finally vehicle slowed down just before i was going to turn of the ignition. Did not have the car checked out, did not smell or see anything irregular, vehicle increase in the continued speed was felt with some g-force before it went back to normal operation.
