At 69000 miles the lighting control module, climate control module, restraint control module stopped functioning. All at the same time. Odd they all go out at the same time. Safety issue.

While traveling at highway speedpassenger side airbag inadvertently deployed. As a resultpassenger'a arm/back, and shoulder were injured.

My wife hit a suburban on its driver side. Our car had $6000.00 damage to the front end of our 2003 mercury marquis with only 3000 miles on it.my complaint is that the air bag did not deploy on impact, there by causing facial injury and a broken nose.*la

Driver seatbelt was replaced (bad maybe) and air bag light came on immediately after seat belt was replacedwipers turn on by themselves and will not turn off.

While waiting for red the light to change, the vehicle suddenly accelerated.the driver could not maintain control, the vehicle jumped the curb and crashed into a ditch.there was no diagnostic test performed on the vehicle.the air bag did not deploy, the electronic fuel shut off and did not engage and the seat belts did not tighten.the consumer was told that the adjustable pedals caused the accident and have caused a lot of accidents.ford claimed that fault is the driver's fault due to their foot being on both pedals at the same time. *scc

A spring in the driver's seat belt buckle failed, causing the airbag light on the instrument panel to illuminate and deactivate the air bag system in the event of a front impact requiring air bag deployment. The seat belt and buckle was required to be replaced. The air bag light illuminated every time the driver fastens the seat belt. The airbag light stays on and would not go off when the driver fastens the seat belt. The dealer traced this to a faulty seat belt latch. From reading on owners' blogs of this model, over several years including my model year, my problem does not appear to be a unique or rare occurrence. The most common causes are worn or broken springs on the switch in the seat belt latch. The switch in the seat belt latch not recognizing the driver in the driver's seat with the seat belt fastened causes the light to go on and deactivate the airbag restraint system for the driver. This safety item should be a model recall.

The contact owns a 2003 mercury grand marquis. While driving approximately 55 mph the vehicle was involved in a single car crash in which the air bags did not deploy and the driver was thrown from the seatbelt into the rear passenger seat. The police appeared on the scene and the driver was reported injured. The driver sustained major injuries and was transported by ambulance to a hospital. The vehicle was destroyed and towed to a salvage yard.the vehicle was not examined to determine the cause of failure. The failure and current mileages were 85,000.updated 02/07/11 updated 04/21/11

When driving 60 mph, the front passenger side air bag deployed inadvertently, causing a distraction to the driver.the dealer had been notified.*scc

While driving65 mph the passenger side air bag deployed without warning.as a result the passenger sustained back, right shoulder, neck and arm injuries from the deployment of the air bag .*nlm *nlm

Steering wheel mounted upside down.this places the airbag in the wrong position.will be repaired today by dealer.

Vehicle air bag senor light comes on and stays on.the dealership has serviced vehicle 5 times, but is unable to correct the problem.ph

The headlights on the car just went out. It happened more and more frequently at random times. Mechanic says it is the lighting control module ( lcm ) .he stated this is a common problem for my grand marquis and crown victoias this would have been fatal for my family and i if we were on the interstate traveling at night at the speed limit.

After leaving home in the dark with no problems, i stopped at a fast food restaurant and went inside.when i came out and started onto an interstate highway, i noticed how dark it was in front of me.even though the light switch was on, i had no headlights.i continued toward the next exit, only to be stopped by a highway patrolman who noticed i had no lights.while stopped and talking with him about the problem, the lights come on again.i'm now afraid to drive the car if there's a chance that i'll need the headlights.fortunately, the patrolman was sympathetic and issued no ticket.

2003 grand marquis i am experiencing intermittent headlight failure while driving my 2003 mercury grand marquis.this is covered by nhtsa action pe08-066 which was recently closed without resulting in a recall.i feel your automobile headlights failing while driving is a serious safety issue.there is no question that i am going to have to pay $400-$800 to have the car repaired.lighting control module will need to be replaced to fix a relay that is worth only about $25.as a retiree on fixed income, this is a financial hardship.i called ford customer relationship center and was told i am responsible for the cost since the vehicle is beyond the warranty coverage.internet search engine on mercury headlight failure revealed this is a common problem on ltd's and mercury's especially 2003 grand marquis' and fleet ltd's.i think nhtsa closing pe08-066 has resulted in a failure to accurately address this as a serious safety concern and as a product defect and ford has failed in their customer service obligations to a past valued customer.failure seems to be a matter of not if but when this failure will occur on these vehicles.

The contact owns a 2003 mercury grand marquis. While driving various speeds, all the gauges on the instrument panel failed to provide the accurate reading. In addition, the air suspension that controlled the shocks failed to hold air. The vehicle was taken to perry's ford (205 e hwy, holdenville, ok 74848, phone number: (888) 307-3779), but the vehicle could not be repaired because there was no one there who could remedy the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not contacted. The approximate failure mileage was 123,000.

My husband and i have had to make other arrangements for us getting back and forth to work after the headlights stopped working on this car. We went to the dealership who stated the part was on back order. We were just able to get the part placed on 1/21/2015 and it worked for the first hour. We took it back on 1/22/2015 and was told that the lighting controls (the switch that turns the light on auto, off etc) is not their problem. It seems they allow these problems to occur long enough to allow it to effect other things on the car then state there was only one problem approved without the out of pocket. However we had no problems until the headlights stopped working. The next thing that went were the dash board lights and now the brake lights. How do we know that depending upon the timeframe problem exists, it may have an adverse affect on other things? this has been a huge inconvenience and it seems they want a fatality before something is done about it.

The headlights go out, apparently the lcm module has failed.they will come back on intermittently.when the lights are out the driver has to hold the high beam switch for lighting.ford ought to voluntarily replace the lcm modules.

2003 grand marquis developed problems with the alternator, the throttle sticking open and alignment problems.*mrthere was also a rattle noise coming from the engine and the digital readout on the dash was not reading properly.

The engine revved in full throttle when the gear shifter was shifted into drive from park; resulting in a rear end collision. This occurred while in stop and go traffic in the car wash line. The repair shop failed to determined what caused the failure, but the consumer feels due through their own researchthat it was caused by the electrical system/cruise control.

Lcm recall - the dealer will not order parts from the manufacturer for a failing lighting control module for my 2003 grand marquis.they told me that the parts are not available, and just don't drive after dark.i cannot get my headlights to work at random times.they will just shut off, or not come on at all occasionally.car can be in motion, or stationary.

I was driving at early dawn when i realized in some shadier areas the headlights weren't working. I pulled over and confirmed this. I thought that instances of intermittent headlight failure the week before was a misperception on my part. I had received a letter from ford weeks earlier; ford has indeed confirmed this problem is due to their lighting control module, so much so that ford's letter claims that the company will cover replacement for an additional 5 years. My car's module has now failed completely. I am unsure in how many earlier instances, especially in semi-lighter environments where it was less perceptible to me, this intermittent headlight failure put both myself and other drivers, pedestrians, and bicyclists around me in real danger. The failure of my car's module has since been confirmed by my local dealer. In addition, i contacted ford directly.however, affected drivers, as well as potential future owners, both of whom have and will pose a danger to others, have not and will not have a remedy any time soon, according to ford, despite their letter. Ford dealer and regional managers suggest that the part is out of stock indefinitely. Future drivers will have no remedy to their cars' unsafe conditions. An allusion has been made to some unsanctioned, uncovered, and pricey, unreimbursable fix with no guarantee of success, hence to guarantee of safety either. Worse still, ford has categorized this issue as one not entitled to rental assistance despite their "covered" failed part being responsible.states' inspection processes will fail any vehicle exhibiting this clearly unsafe issue. The commonwealth will deem my unsafe and unroadworthy this month, leaving me with no recourse. And with no relief expected from the manufacturer, any other car suffering this failure will meet with the same fate.what is the worth of being "covered" without a safe fix?

Car stalls when you go over a bump in the road while driving at 30 mph on a 30 mph road

The headlights on my 2003 mercury grand marquis have stopped working. This has been an intermittent problem. The most recent issue left my wife and mother in law stranded along the roadside. The first time i thought it was the switch in the steering column because after working the blinkers the lights started working. The next time my wife was driving on the interstate highway and the lights just went off at interstate speeds. It seems this is a common issue and has stranded others.

2003 merc marquis low beam lights went out at 60mph unlit rural road.almost crashed had i not raised high beam lever on steering column.low beam operates intermittently.diagnosed as electronic control module failure. Estimated repair cost $700.if no recall, someone will die.

Lights turn off and will not turn on/ lights will not turn in any position. The lighting control module has been an issue for 2 years.

While driving at night the head lights suddenly went out. The only way the lights would work after that is if you hold the high beam lever back.

Headlights went off while driving.

While driving under raining conditions cruise control was not working.instrument lights panel was off, andwindshield worked intermittently. Dealerreplaced two computers in the electrical system , but problem still occurring.

I am having headlight failure due to light control module(lcm/light box) issues.this issue has been previously complained about and investigated by your agency as i have found out while researching your website.there has been no events leading up to the failure.the headlights will switch off and on no matter if your driving or not.many times they will not go on at all.i am forced to stop once they go out and wait until they decide to switch back on to continue while driving at night.i reported this to ford motor company on august 10, 2009, and i was quoted a 1,000 estimate for repair by my local dealer due to the fact that there has never been a recall issued.what exactly needs to happen to get this safety issue remedied?please take a deep look into this.

I have two complaints, my first complaint is, i own a 2003 grand marquis. I have to be to work @ 3 in the morning so one day i was headed to work on a dark road and all of a sudden my light turn off by themselves. I pulled over and played with the light switch and it came back on. The next day it did it again, and i repeated the same steps. So for the third day they didn't come on at all. I took it to ford thesame day and they said it was the lcm, which would cost a estimated 750.00 dollars to replace it. I had to hold the bright lights til i saved enough money to get it replaced. My other complaint is about the a/c climate control unit, this is another major problem. One day its was working fine, then the next day it was not blowing out the proper vents , then eventually it stop working. I can feel a little air blowing out once i hit about 65 mph on the freeway. Again i took it 2 ford and it would be another 650.00 to replace it. I asked around town and a lot of people are having the same problems. Something needs to be done about this. If you check ebay, they do have services that rebuild both the lcm and the climate control unit for anywhere between 75.00 and 200.00 dollars.

The lights on my 2003 mercury grand marquis turn on and off by themselves, leaving me in the dark while driving.

While driving at dusk on my way home (with my 5 year old little girl!), my headlights shut off without warning!we were fortunate that several drivers in the oncoming lane were concerned and conscientious and flashed their high beams to signal that something was wrong. Deductively, i ruled out my lights being off because the switch was on. That was until the traffic light turned red and i saw no reflection on the back of the car in front of me! i flipped the switch off then back on again to see if it was a bad connection in the switch or perhaps it was between positions and would possibly work if i repositioned it. No good! ugh, the light went green! i nervously pulled at the bright light selector to see if they worked! just in time to barely miss the suv that obviously did not see us!!! i did not let it go until we were safe at home!!! phew!!! i guess now would be the time to change my pants!

What is your vehicle sales or service issue?:i received a letter from the ford company about getting my headlights replaced. My headlights does not work at all and i have to hold my high beams in order to have some lights at night in order to see. This is very uncomfortable when driving with one hand especially, when i have my babies in the car with me. When i went to the ford dealership in march. They told me that the parts were on back order until june or july. I went back to the dealership (lilliston ford in kingsland, ga)in the beginning of december 2014. They told me that the parts are still on back order and that they're are 3800 people waiting on those parts. I've been pulled over numerous of times because of my hands slipping off of the high beams and i've had 2 accidents because of my headlights. I need to be put in a rental car are something until my lights are fixed. This is dangerous and is not a safe way to be driving at night..

Customer satisfaction program by ford, #14n01: they (ford) tell me in a letter that my headlights may fail without any notice of a problem. They (ford) knowthis is not only possible, but that it has happened numerous times already. There are blogs that speak tothis issue. If it is the function of your department to protect consumers then please do so.this is potentially a deadly safety issue.....if there is even the slightest chance this could happen i don't understand why this department has notrectified it and made ford recall these vehicles.

Letter from congressman jones on behalf of constituent regarding a problem she has encountered with her 2003 mercury grand marquis and ford motor company; attn: william moore.the consumer received a customer satisfaction program notice, regarding a potential problem may exist with the electronic module, that supplied power to the headlights, may fail.

The head lights on my mercury grand marquis go out when i drive at night.i have searched the web for solutions to this problem.it turns out this is a recurring problem with thousands of other owners of this model.it is a serious issue when you are driving on country roads or on the interstate and your lights go out and you can't see anything.the lights usually remain off for about ten minutes or so.mercury needs to be responsible for this issue before a serious accident happens (if one hasn't already).

The headlights go out on my 2003 mercury marquis while driving, they will go on again if i shut down the car and let it sit for about 10 minutes, but the issue will occur again once i drive for 15 - 20 minutes.this seems like a wide spread problem in this make and model, i have researched it on the internet and found dozens of complaints about this issue.

Driving down the road and the headlights went out. All other lights work fine, but the headlights work intermittently. I have to use the bright lights and hold the switch while driving in order to be able to drive at night and that is just crazy. I'm blinding everyone i pass and it's very hard to drive that way.

The headlights would turn on intermittently and then began to fail completely. With the dash switch in the proper place, the headlights would not come on. The high beams would continue to work, but the low beams would not. A ford dealership declared that it was a bad lighting control module.

The contact owns a 2003 mercury grand marquis.on at least five occasions, the vehicle has failed to start.during the most recent failure, the vehicle had to be towed to the dealer.the diagnosis was that the vehicle was not being driven long distances and the battery needed to be recharged.the purchase date and powertrain were unknown.the current and failure mileages were 9,152.updated 02-19-08 the consumer stated was charged $200 and the problem was not corrected. The contact owns a 2003 mercury grand marquis. The contact was driving approximately 30 mph when the vehicle stalled without warning. There was a strong burning odor inside of the vehicle. The contact inspected underneath the hood and flames excessively ignited from the engine compartment. There were two bystanders who extinguished the fire with bottles of water. There were no injuries. The fire department arrived and a report was filed with no personal injuries. The vehicle was towed to an authorized dealer and the technician stated that the failure was contributed to the alternator. The battery, alternator and electrical system were replaced. The failure mileage was 63,073.

Vehicle stalled at any speed, stalled 25 times. Vehicle has been examined by dealer 4 times.dealer could not duplicate the problem. Vehicle had been at dealer a total of 36 days.primary computer was reset, then replaced by dealer. This did not remedy the problem.

While parked the vehicle caught on fire under the dash.the dealer stated that the wires were the cause of the fire.

While driving under raining conditions cruise control was not working.instrument lights panel was off, andwindshield worked intermittently. Dealerreplaced two computers in the electrical system , but problem still occurring.

Last fall, this car starting making creeking and humming noises in the engine.the humming noise would go away after about a minute but not the squeaks and creeks as you drive it.in the winter, there were areas of yellow-green liquid on our garage floor on a few occasions.i took the vehicle in for the headlight recall, and i was told there was a cracked manifold, and a belt problem which was causing the antifreeze leak.when i searched for recalls, i noticed a previous recall for years 1996-2001 for the same problem.this repair is very costly, and i wonder if you could do a recall for this year/model car because i was given it as a gift and am currently laid off?i am attaching former recall settlement for same cars up to 2001.thank you.

Intake manifold cracked and leaked coolant onto the coils and spark plugs. Hence causing rough running engine and lack of performance.

The contact owns a 2003 mercury grand marquis. The contact stated that there was an abnormal noise coming from the engine and the check engine warning indicator illuminated. Dealer stated that the right cylinder had to be replaced, and the vehicle was still atdealer.

My wife was driving our 1997 mercury marquis home in heavy traffic.suddenly steam began pouring out from under the hood and the "hot" light went on.she pulled to the edge of the road and called me.i sent a tow truck to bring the car to our home.i looked and could see water all over the engine and perhaps a hose broken.rather than tow it to the dealership, 20 miles away, i called a quality garage locally that i had dealt with before.they said the intake manifold was cracked, the water pump leaking as a minimum.the cost to replace and fix everything was $1075.while calling around for parts, the mechanic discovered that this was a common problem and ford had recalled police and city fleet vehicles for upgrade to fix this problem.upon checking with the mercury shop foreman, he confirmed that story. Since i had a 100,000 mile warranty that had expired only a few months prior, i asked why ford would not help pay for the damage.i was told it was not covered.i asked why, knowing that this problem existed, why they had not fixed it under the warranty.i was told they never thought of it.lousy service, lousy engineering and i now drive a toyota.

My headlights went out while i was driving d i wn the interstate and they wouldn't come back on.

I drive 100 miles back and forth to work on a nightly basis, headlights might come on and stay on if i'm lucky.headlights will come on for about 3 minutes when i first start the car, and then maybe once i get on the highway, they may stay on, for a few more minutes.however traveling down the highway at 75 mph, in the dark, i feel imposes a safety risk.ford wants over 700.00 to fix the problem.mileage at 65,000.

Headlights shut off unexpectedly while driving in complete darkness.finally figured out i had to pull the "safe to pass" in order to get the headlights to stay on.drove to work while pulling the "safe to pass" stick on my steering wheel.absolutely unsafe.

Update:after reading the headlight issues on this site, having had the same problem myself, i took my mercury to mechanics and explained what i've been reading.they said the lighting control module was on a lengthy back-order.however, they were able to find a broken solder joint on the lcm, which they repaired for $170.this repair lasted 3 months and, as of 1/17/2015, headlights randomly shut off, again with only the 'flash to pass' stick pulled in to illuminate the high beams.

Headlights went out without warning.kept using the bright light switch until they came back on..this has happened a few times.now the headlight will not come at all withthe light switch.this ison a 2003 grand marquis.with all the complaints ford should have a recall for the safety issue.

On 25 april 2016 driving on a two lane country road at night both headlights suddenly turned off. I was able to pull into a farm access space and avoided the ditch.although the parking lights seemed to work i was not able to turn on the headlights for several minutes. Finally after many trys with the light switch the headlights did come back on. I was able to reach home without further incident but now fear driving car at night!

The prblem started on 12/14/2009 and continued until the lcm(processor-lighting control module) was replaced on 12/30/2009 the lcm was replaced by sparton lincoln mercury, mcdonough ga.30253the part, labor and to diagnose it cost approximately$760.00, dealer kept partcar was not driven at night because of problem problem could occur at any time

Headlights turn off randomly. I do not have to go into detail here just look at all the other complaints for the same problem. Hard to believe that a recall has not been issued for a part that controls the headlights.

While driving at night at a speed of 40 mph, my head lights shut off while on auto. I tried switching to manual lights and this did not work either.

The contact owns a 2003 mercury grand marquis. The contact stated that while driving approximately 45 mph, both headlights failed without warning. The contact mentioned the failure recurred frequently and the lights would illuminate a few minutes after they shut off. The vehicle was not taken to the dealer. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure and current mileage was 111,000. The vin was not available.

Headlights would not come on in the manual or automatic light switch mode. The only way to have headlights on is to hold high beam lever in the "flash more"( lever pulled toward driver).i found after a while if i kick my foot above the accelerator, the lights would come on and stay on for an undetermined time.further diagnosis indicates a poor connection by moving one of the modules connectors.

Headlights went off while driving.

The contact owns a 2003 mercury grand marquis. While driving 70 mph, the headlights failed to operate. The contact received a notification of nhtsa campaign number: 15v861000 (exterior lighting); however, the parts for the recall repair were not available. Parts distribution disconnect.

The head lights will turn off while driving. They will then go back on after an indeterminate period of time. It makes no difference whether the light control switch on the dash is on automatic or not. This may happen any number of times even during a short trip. The problem is the lighting control module for which ford has a newly designed part, but no recall or service bulletin. Needless to say it is an obvious safety issue to have your lights go out and lose all forward visibility, especially on a rainy night. I don't understand why there has not been a recall on such an obvious safety hazard.

I live in a remote part of hawaii and am a physician who gets called in the middle of the night for emergencies. I was driving on the upper road with several drop offs and my lights went out in the middle of driving. The high beams did not work either, but i had to hold down the lever for the lights to work. I almost wrecked my vehicle and i could have driven off the road and killed myself. In addition, my patient needing emergency surgery could have died because i was not there to administer anesthesia. There is no excuse for this. Absolutely none! i have changed fuses, lights and the light switch. This was on an isolated highway with no lights in the mountains on the big island. There was nothing to light the highway but the stars. I was driving between 55-60 miles an hour.

I was driving and my headlights went out. I couldnt see the road. They never came back on. I was on a city street

The contact had not experienced a failure. Vin tool confirms parts not available.

Turned on headlights they did not come on but if you pull back on turn signal high beam works when held in position.

Driving down interstate, headlamps went off unexpectedly without any adjusting of auto lamp feature. Only able to get high beams to come on when holding the stalk to the on position. Very dangerous. Next startup lights working fine....until they don't when you are on the highway and at highway speed...certainly a hazard especially for night-shift worker. Cant believe ford doesn't think this is a safety issue.

While driving my 2003 mercury marquis one evening, my headlights went out.i tried turning the switch on the dashboard to the headlight position because originally it was on the sensor position, but they didn't come back on.no matter what i did, they remained off.from that night on, my headlights work sporadically.sometimes they'll come on right away and then go out while driving.sometimes they'll come on in the daylight with the switch in the off position.it's very scary when you're driving down a back country road where there's no street lights and your headlights go out. The only way i could get light was tohold back on the high beam lever.that was weird too because the high beams wouldn't work when i put the lever in the on position, only when i pulled back on the lever which puts the high beams on for as long as you hold the lever.one night i drove for about 5 miles and the headlights stayed on the whole time.there's just no knowing when they're going to work, and if they do, how long they'll stay on.i understand it's going to be very expensive to fix the problem, but i don't have $800 so haven't had it repaired yet.i just don't drive after dark, which is very inconvenient!

Luckily i am driving home from work around 1230am on an interstate with moderate traffic. The headlights just go off without any warning. After some very close calls and not just a few upset drivers, i did manage to get off the road and onto the side. I discovered that i could hold the signal handle back i had high beam lights that let me get home. I have maintenance records on this car since it's first oil change at 3000 miles, the auto is well taken care of. I do not understand why ford would not take the responsibility for this as from what i have already read ,it is a very common problem, i guess not enough people have died from it yet.

2003 mercury grand marquis..this is a loaner car while my f-150 was in the shop. I used the car for work that morning. Lights worked fine, but i needed to use my trailor the next day so my wife was going to use the car for work the next day so i could use our explorer to pull the trailor. The car needed gas and it was dark out. We went to go for gas and when i started it the parking lights worked but the headlights would not. I pushed the turn signal lever forward and the brights didn't either. I checked the fuses and could not find one bad. It is going back to the ford dealership. I would think from what i have read about this being an ongoing problem, there would of been a recall by now. I'm just glad it didn't happen to my wife on her way to work,it was foggy and dark that morning.

Complete headlight failure - this is second occurrence for family - other was in 2003 ford crown victoria.same problem - lighting control module.problem is still in part number 3w7c-1788-ahfor 2003 model year.mileage at failure was 86850."found" by having someone else flash that my lights weren't on on way home from event.they were on when car started.was 10 miles from home at a late dusk, made home w/o incident.also have another 2003 mercury and i guess i'm waiting for it to fail too!(perhaps i should get the part now?) 2003 ford sold to friend. Part acquired (ag letters- staying away from ah - same part with failure in both our 2003's) from junkyard - first 5 appropriate cars were missing the lcm - and a guy in the field asked if we were looking for a lcm?this is a well known defect.both old parts still in posession.

Received notice from ford-12/15/2015-headlight switch deficient-could cause dangerous driving if fails-ford recall - replace -switch - have heard nothing since-same per my dealer

At 69000 miles the lighting control module, climate control module, restraint control module stopped functioning. All at the same time. Odd they all go out at the same time. Safety issue.

Head lights when off. I turned them to the auto setting and they would work for a short time and go off. Then they wouldn't work no mater were you set them.wiper came on by themselves and i had to pull the fuse to stop them, when i needed the wipers i have to replace the fuse. Then when i try to turn them off they stop in the drivers view if they stop at all. Sometimes they would work right and then not at all. The wiper water pump would not work either. Now it's working again.

I was driving my car like always an this one particular night the headlights just shut off, i pulled over an checked the fuse an that was not the problem so afterwards i pulled off an about 5 minutes later the headlights popped back on, an this has been going on for several months now, but come to find out it was the lighting control module located underneath the dashboard beneath the steering wheel which is a costly item.

Driving on florida highway #70 headlights went out and only high beamsworked while holding them on (pulling handle toward me).i am 75 and a female, i was very upset having to drive 24 miles home in this way!

Traveling southbound on i-95 in early morning all lights went out for a few seconds, leaving us in total darkness.lights came back on and everything resumed as normal for remainder of our trip home.a couple of month later same thing happened during a short evening drive near home.no lights.researched this frightening occurrence and found that our year make model has this problem due to bad lighting module solder job.contacted for ford, no help.eventually got a letter from ford stating they would extend warranty on this part, but would only replace module if it was failing at time dealer looked at it, after charging $49 dollars to test for codes.it has not failed at a dealer location.i avoid driving at night as much as possible.

My 2003 mercury grand marquis has had an issue with the lighting module for the headlights. The headlights will not turn on anymore and from what i see from others complaints about this model is that the majority of the complaints with this vehicle are with the same issue! i really hope that this issue becomes a recall since obviously they are aware of how many people are having this problem. Do you know how hard it is not to be able to drive at night?! let alone when it's rainy or foggy out. I have young children what if theres an emergency??this issue needs to be addressed before more people get into an accident! are they waiting for someone to die first!? another issue i have is with the windshield wipers- they only have one speed- fast. I don't know why they wouldn't make them with slower settings, every time it rains lightly i have to turn them on for a second and off repeatedly because there aren't any slower settings. I like the comfort of my grand marquis but these issues really need to get resolved or i'll be forced to by another vehicle and if they don't do a recall on the exterior lights i will never buy another vehicle from ford motor company because it will show that they really don't care about people's safety!

2003 mercury grand marquis.consumer writes in regards to dissatisfaction with head lamp issue.the consumer stated the issue with the head lamps potentially failing should be fixed now, and not after the failure.

Driving down the highway at night and the headlights went out for no reason causing me to have to hold the high beams for the rest of the trip. Safety hazard.

This is on my 2003 mercury grand marquis gs.the light processor failed and my headlights went out after driving the vehicle for 5 to 10 minutes.they continue to do this until the system would reset, taking 15 to 30 seconds.this also happen on my 1997 ford crown vic fire chiefs car when i had that vehicle.both vehicles needed to have the light processor replaced costing over $500.00.my mechanic stated that when he called the dealer they stated that they always keep 3 or 4 in stock because this is a problem.my question is why is this not a recall item???the headlights going out while driving down the road at night must be a safety issue?thank you for your time in this matter.

Lately when i crank the car at night the lights do not come on in the automatic setting. I switch it to manual and they still do not come on. When i switch it back to automatic they usually come on. Sometimes i have to do this twice to get them to come on. Several times i've had them go off when driving and got them to turn back on this way. Quite a few times i've left a brightly lit parking lot at night not realizing the lights hadn't come on and suddenly realized it when i pulled out into the road.

Cannot get lights to work, pulled over by police (twice)going down the road, and didnt know lights were out. They come and go. Police said to do something like take it to dealer. They told me i was to fail auto inspection for this on the spot. Dealer says they want to test for a week and then they say they cant get parts. If i got to court one mre time or car is impounded i am seking my attorney. This is a safety defect with dangerous and negligent consequences.

The vehicle suddenly had no brake lights or tail lights, then, it had brake lights and tail lights, then, the vehicle would not start, despite having a new battery. After much investigation and work, our certified mechanic feels that the lighting module is shorting out, thus, draining the battery. The vehicle was stationary, in motion on a city street and on a highway, turning, essentially all aspects of usage, when these issues occurred.

I was driving home from school at 8:30 p.m. On monday october 5, 2015 and my lights suddenly stopped working while i was driving. I am now stuck in a parking lot until the sun returns and can drive safely.

Front head lights will not comes on at night or they will go off while drving at night.

The contact owns a 2003 mercury grand marquis. The contact stated that while traveling 50 mph, both headlights failed. The vehicle was able to be driven to the contact's residence and was later taken to a dealer where it was determined that the light control module had failed. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was contacted about the issue. The failure mileage was 93,000 and the current mileage was 96,000.

My headlights went out while driving a few times. I took it in to the dealer (after local shop said it would be expensive, but may be under warranty). The dealer said on november 18th that the lcm is covered under warranty, however it may take a few weeks. The problem is getting progressively worse. The dealer's suggestion for workaround is to use the "flash-to-pass" lever, which momentarily turns on high beam lights. This is not a practical solution, holding the passing lights during a 45 minute drive to work every day. The dealer refuses to provide a rental/loaner vehicle. I'm concerned with the long term effects on the "flash-to-pass", which may go out as well, as it is not designed for continual use like this. I have to drive to work in the dark every morning, dealing with intermittent headlights, and trying to manually hold the flash-to-pass lights. This is a dangerous situation which should be resolved immediately!

The contact owns a 2003 mercury grand marquis. While driving 35 mph, the low beam headlights failed to illuminate; however, they illuminated while the vehicle idled. The failure recurred intermittently. The contact mentioned that the high beam headlights were still working. The vehicle was not diagnosed nor repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 78,000.

I am having headlight failure due to light control module(lcm/light box) issues.as i have found out while researching the web i am not the only person having this problemthe headlights will switch off and on no matter if your driving or not. Many times they will not come on at all. I am forced to stop once they go out and wait until they decide to switch back on to continue while driving at night. The partand repair will be 900.00by a local dealer due to the fact that there has never been a recall issued. What exactly needs to happen to get this safety issue remedied? please take a deep look into this. I have been driving on a long dark hwy when this has happen do it take for someone to be killed !!!! because when the light go out you can not see.

I am having a problem with my headlights turning off while driving or not turning on after i have the car off for a few minutes.all the other exterior lights work at this time.i thought it was only happened when i had it in automatic lights but now it happens when i turn the lights on manually too.sometimes if you move the blinker switch around they will come back on but other times they won't.i have had to drive holding the the blinker arm back to have the brights on so i can make it home.it started in june and happened very intermittently but now 5 months later it is happening every time i drive at night.

Facts: i own a 2003 mercury grand marquis that had total headlight failure while driving 55 mph.although i ran off the road i was able to recover with no damage/injury/loss of life because i was familiar with the road/the car/and sadly, previous experience with total headlight failure in a previous vehicle (2001 dodge durango).once i stopped i checked all obvious things for failure (battery/fuses/etc) but soon realized i had parking lights/turn signals/side marker lights/dash lights/tail lights/and even brake lights...everything except headlights.i tried the high-beam position and no luck there either - until i pulled the multi-function switch toward the steering wheel to the "flash" the high-beam position.i continued to hold the switch in this position and drive with my high-beams on for the few miles i had left to my destination.once home i turned vehicle off gathered my test equipment and began my troubleshooting just to find out that now everything worked as advertised.that held true for approx. 1500 miles ' or about 2 months (with initial failure at approx 31,000 miles) when headlights failed again; and now they even fail intermittently at any time to include daylight hours.my troubleshooting revealed the lighting control module (lcm) is the cause of failure, but more importantly, my investigation revealed this is a known failure...by literally hundreds of people...to include you people of the nhtsa.my analysis tells me that the failure is probably not miles related but more likely usage related since my 31+ years (and counting) in the military taught me to drive with my headlights on 24/7/365 in the see and be seen philosophy'add the fact that i currently have 34,000 miles where most have a lot more. Opinion: a 3rd grader could have done the research to identify this is a serious problem and an 8th grader could make the decision to recall the cars for total headlight failure.if you can't - take your loved ones for a ride in my car at night!!!

I was on my way too work and my lights cut off.

Coming from a concert which thankfully was very close to home, the headlights did not turn on and there were no dash lights. The vehicle was not in motion but as the car was starting to move, still no lights.there was a recall on this vehicle in 2014(lcm #15s39) that was repaired and reimbursed by our local ford dealership. This was a known issue for 2003-2005 mercury grand marquis and 2003-2005 crown victoria. I have since seen complaints come up as of jan.2018 that this problem has again come to light. This is a horrendous safety issue and not an inexpensive fix.how many more times will this keep happening? we love this car, have had it for 13 years and it has less than 90000 miles on it. Tried contacting ford customer service and they were no help!! we just wanted to make this known that obviously this is an ongoing problem with this particular year vehicle.

2003 mercury grand marquis headlight fail. Every other thing is working. Now this is serious because it happens every 5 minutes and remains for at least 10 minutes. Confirmed that the lcm is the source of problem.this is a mistake by ford and they should pay for it as i discovered many owners has the same problem.is there any recall by ford for this one?

The headlights turned off while i was driving at night. I had been driving for approximately 15 minutes. I was on a freeway with some over head lighting so i continued driving. After about 45 seconds the lights came back on. This has happened several times since the original incident. Has there been a recall for this issue from ford/mercury? this is an issue that has happened to quite a few mercury vehicles as the web is packed with incidents of this nature by owners and have only back yard, shade tree mechanics advice to try this or that.one other item to mention is that when they turn off, i have always been driving at a time of night when few other cars are on the road (no on-coming headlights). Could the on-coming traffic sensor on the interior rear-view mirror for auto high beam dimming be somehow involved? this is a very serious issue that could be life threatening. I would appreciate a quick response.

Headlights will not stay on need to hold back the headlight switch

Letter from congressman jones on behalf of constituent regarding a problem she has encountered with her 2003 mercury grand marquis and ford motor company; attn: william moore.the consumer received a customer satisfaction program notice, regarding a potential problem may exist with the electronic module, that supplied power to the headlights, may fail.

Sept '10driving to work at 530 am on a rural road, no street lights, doing speed limit 60 mph head lights suddenly went off, headlights dash lights and parking light.. Replaced headlight control module. Lights worked good until june 2nd 2011.. Started car up with auto headlights on lights should have come but only parking lights. I pulled back on turn signal stalk high beams work..if i put the regular high beams on no nothing..slapped under dash near the headlight control module and lights started working. Now i have to buy another module..if ford was paying for it they would find a fix for it..time for a recall..

The cost to repair the problem was $781.74, in which only the dealer could repair. The consumer stated a sensor went bad.

Headlamps turned off while driving down dark highway at night!!! only able to make high beam lamps work by pulling turn signal lever back and holding in that position. Low beam and high beam do not work, only high beam when manually held on. Should be recalled!!! very dangerous!!!

The contact owns a 2003 mercury grand marquis. The contact stated that while driving approximately 40 mph the headlights shut off without warning. The lights came on a few minutes after they shut off. The failure recurred frequently. After some time the headlights no longer illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who diagnose that the automatic light control module failed and needed to be repaired. The vin was not available. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 90,000.

The headlights go out, apparently the lcm module has failed.they will come back on intermittently.when the lights are out the driver has to hold the high beam switch for lighting.ford ought to voluntarily replace the lcm modules.

Headlight go off and will not come back on.this happened once before a few months back but started working again, this time would not work, took to a ford dealer, problem was the light control module (lcm) .dealer replaced for $556.16.

The contact owns a 2003 mercury grand marquis. While driving at approximately 40 mph, the headlights were activated and suddenly flickered intermittently. The failure recurred numerous times. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where it was diagnosed that the light control module failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The vehicle was later taken to an independent mechanic and the vehicle was repaired. The detail repairs were unknown. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 42,000.

The contact owns a 2003 mercury grand marquis. While driving at various speeds, the headlights failed without warning. The failure recurred numerous times. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where it was diagnosed that the lighting control module needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 90,000.

I own a mercury grand marquis 03 at approx. 65,000 miles i was driving in tampa and the lights went out.it didn't do it for a while then they went out again and now they go out often.i took car to dealership at 72k however warranty was up and they would charge me like %800 for parts and labor.this is very dangerous after reading it appears that is a common defect in these cars.

The contact owns a 2003 mercury grand marquis. The contact stated that while driving 35 mph, the vehicles low beam headlights failed without warning. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 150,000.

Safety recall notice 15s39/nhtsa recall 15v-861 not completed on my car.was notified by ford jan 2016 that repair would be accomplished but it has not.

My brother was visiting for my son's wedding and used our mother's car for transportation.he found that the headlights would not come on, and eventually found that holding the high beam switch "on", the lights worked.at the dealership he was told there was likely a recall to fix this.since he has gone back home, i have been researching this for my mother.i found a closed "safety" issue, number pe08066, which is exactly what he experienced.although you have a very low number of complaints listed, consider this:most of these cars are purchased by older people, many mechanically incapable in addition to being unsavvy with computers and the internet, and tend to drive it less, especially at night, so the issue would not be noticeable for quite some time.if they did experience this, they probably paid some serious money to ford dealers to get it fixed, not realizing that this is a huge safety issue and this should be fixed for free under warranty before failure of the module - the tsb talks about failure of the module.well, my brother took it in for inspection with this faulty module, and it passed, so then do they not consider it "failed"?mother is 91 years old and would probably panic if the lights went out while she was driving it.this is a major safety issue, and should be rated higher to get the warranty work done!!!i plan to follow up with the same dealer and see what they have to say about this.my suspicion is that until it fails she will have to pay for this fix, which is not cheap.this is ridiculous.listing my information instead of hers as she needs our help to deal with this kind of annoyance.

The contact owns a 2003 mercury grand marquis. The contact stated that the front driver and passenger side headlights were dim and prevented the contact from seeing at night. There were no warning indicators illuminated. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The contact called bert wolfe ford at (304) 344-1601 (located at 1900 patrick st plaza, charleston, wv 25387) where it was confirmed that no recalls were associated with the vin. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The contact referenced nhtsa campaign number: 15v861000 (exterior lighting). The manufacturer was notified of the failure and provided case number: cas13954234. The approximate failure mileage was 105,000.

I have a 2003 grand marquis gs, the headlights started turning off for no particular reason. This is extremely dangerous; one time i had a car full of children and the lights went out on a back road, i almost drove into a tree. I had to ride home with the highbeams on. It turns out that its an expensive part and a very common complaint for this model; why is there not a recall, we could have been injured and if so many complaints are being filed why is nothing being done?

Driving around a bend on a dark county highway in southern nj, no street lights. My headlights go out and wont come back on. Since my steering is stiff, i almost wrapped myself around a tree. Thank god, i have good brakes and driving on brand new tires on a dry road or i would be dead right now.my mechanic has always claimed that the stiff steering is a common problem & a manufacturing defect, but cost prohibitive for me to fix. When i took the car today, he said it was definitely the lighting control module ($600 part). He was unaware of the chronic problem that is happening as of late with the lcm's in 2003 marquis.i think you guys closed the case too early on the lcm's, the complaints boards all over the internet about this problem are increasing in frequency. Combined with extremely stiff steering, headlights going out randomly is a recipe for disaster.

I own a 2003 grand marquis. I bought the vehicle in 2004 with 19,000 miles on it. I have loved this car it is great to drive.two problems i have with this car is that the hubcaps are crap, they rattle when i drive, one came off completely and i had to stop and get it.i am now looking to replace them.the second problem is my major concern and that is lcm(lighting control module) i had an accident (minor) but i did damage the front end. Upon completion of the repairs, my car stayed at repair because the lights would not work.wow not cool.i got the car back and driving one evening my lights went out.the mechanic and i have taken it to several other mechanics and the switch was thought to be the problem but after two weeks and several mechanics, the problemis a $500.00 problem. I was told not to drive with the lights on automatic because it causes the inside casing to heat up. The lcm (lighting control module) is bad, i was given some info off the internet and the mechanic said he had just replaced the lcm on four cars that week.this should not happen. I was told the automatic light mechanism was not perfected and it is best to drive with the automatic lights off and to use them manually. Until i could replace the module.i need my vehicle as i am disabled and i have spent $2500, i do not have the $500.00 plus labor to replace the lcm.

While driving home my head lights went out. I tried to pull over when i noticed but it was dark and not a good place to stop a vehicle. I found my hazards and tried to creep to a safer spot. Luckily i made it out of this safely, i live in san diego where there's a lot a traffic and some areas are not well lit or suited to pull over.i felt like this was a hazard that could have caused an accident and risked my safety. I was shocked when i got home and read on the internet that this is the most common problem for a 2003 mercury. This safety hazard needs to be addressed and corrected. Thank you

The contact owns a 2003 mercury grand marquis. The contact was driving approximately 70 mph with the headlights activated and unexpectedly the headlights failed to illuminate. Immediately, the high beam headlights were engaged and the vehicle was maneuvered to the side of the road. The contact turned the engine off and restarted. The headlight control device was turned manually while driving in order for the low beam headlights to operate. The failure occurred intermittently. The vehicle had not been diagnosed or repaired. There was an open investigation associated with nhtsa action number pe08066 (exterior lighting: headlights) which was closed in march 24, 2009. The manufacturer was notified of the malfunction. The approximate failure mileage was 120,000.

I own a 2003 mercury grand marquis.the problem started with my headlightsflicking on and off while driving at night and quickly progressed to turning off and not coming back on at all.i replaced the dashboard headlight control and they worked for about a week and then they started turning off again while driving but if i flicked my high beams they would come back on for about 15 min or so and go back off.after a couple of days of that they just quit working at all.once again i replaced the dashboard switch to no avail.

While driving the vehicle the headlights would go out and stop working. The only way i could drive at night was to pull the switch towards me and keep the brights on while driving. If i let go the lights wouldn't stay on and i couldn't see the road. I tried to use the switch on the dash to turn on the headlights but it would only work for the panel lights on the dash board. This happened while i was driving at night with my family in the car it was very scary and we were driving on toads with no street lights lights. This occurred on wed, feb. 20 2019. Once this happened i pulled over put the car in park turned the car off and restarted it. I put the car in drive and tried to turn on the headlights but nothing would come on so i pulled the switch towards me and keep it like that so the bright lights would come on and i could see the road to drive this for 30 min until we got home.

The contact owns a 2003 mercury grand marquis. The contact stated that the headlights failed. The vehicle was not taken to the dealer. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure who did not offer any assistance since the vehicle was not included in any recalls. The vehicle was repaired. The failure mileage was 40,000 and the current mileage was 79,995.

I'm now 3 for 3 failures with the lighting control module on model and year car.initial failure mileage was 74000, current mileage 75500.intermittant lighting failures.problem is now so bad car can not be driven more than 10-15 minutes at night before lights fail to illuminate.i've replaced the lcm on one 2003 crown vic, one 2003 merc, and now our other 2003 merc.other night, i almost hit deer a/c i had no lights!this vehicle has not yet been repaired, but must be soon, as problem has been escallating.as junk yards are out of parts locally (i do not use part 3w7t-13c788-ah as that is the defective one!i use ag - everything will work but map lights and this lcm will not fail.) i will have to likely get one out of the area.so, my experience on this vehicle/year is 100% part failure.somehow, i think my sample size of 3 is statistically significant!

The headlights would turn on intermittently and then began to fail completely. With the dash switch in the proper place, the headlights would not come on. The high beams would continue to work, but the low beams would not. A ford dealership declared that it was a bad lighting control module.

The automatic external lights go off or do not turn on at all.

The headlights on low beam would not come on - could only drive at night while holding the high beam light on.being told it is the lcm and has to be replaced at a high repair cost. After much research about this problem, ford should be paying for these repairs and not the consumer!

Recall 15s39: my lights were working just fine but i received a recall notice. When i called to make an appoinment i said i had no problems with my ligh but the letter said it might occur at anytime. I drive approx. 35,000 miles per year. May 17,2017 i made appoinment.for june12,2017. What i thought was a new module was installed. June 14, 2017 my lights suddenly went out when i was driving. They suddenly came back on. Later that evening they would not come on at all. (it stays on automatic). I got the manual lights to come on . No bright light only intermittant brights. The next day i took it to gem city ford. After an hour they said they were o.k. 10 p.m. The lights went out again. I used manual. Called they said they would call back.they didnot with more than oncalls never to be called back. Then i left a note i would get it checked while out of sate. Then i got a call requesting that i bring it in. I was leavine the state f or a week. Came back to town the next week told that the patch that was put in was working and i could purchase the module.this is a dangerous thing . The fix caused a proble that the fix was supposed to do. I want my car back to the way it was.when driving it makes a pop then goes out or comes on. When starting they may not come on at all. I don't want this to happen when i'm going throught the mountains of georgia or tennesse at night. This should have not been patched. It's lazy . A persons life that bought this vehical should be worth more than that. No way to up load. I can fax.

While driving on a back road on my way home from work, headlights went out and could not be turned back on. Headlights were in the auto mode when they went out, i switched to manual while braking so not to hit anything hard and they did not come back on. I pulled over and parked. I tried them again in about five minutes and they worked for about 10 minutes and then did the same thing. I have not had the car looked at yet, but on the internet found several similar stories and believe it is the light control module. I am shocked there has not been a recall based on all the complaints online about the 2003 mercury grand marquis, i'm glad i wasn't asleep at the wheel when this happened to me! please do something about this, it is a serious problem!!!

2003mercury grand marquis. Consumer writes in regards to recall on lighting control module. *tgw

The headlights would not come on.the only way to drive home was to hold down the high beam lever the entire time, there are many complaints about this situation online with this vehicle and this is a severe safety issue.this car is owned by my 84 year old mother, lets get this recall done so no one gets hurt.

The headlights turned off while on the freeway. Since then it's happening more frequently. Now it's multiple times each morning on the 35 minute trip to work. Temporary solution is to manually hold the momentary brights switch. Holding this switch while driving is annoying, and unsafe since that it on the same lever as the turn signals.

While driving at night the head lights suddenly went out. The only way the lights would work after that is if you hold the high beam lever back.

My 2003 mercury grand marquisbegan experiencing headlight failure over a period of months, with both lower beams randomly going off and then after several minutes or hours comingback on. Other internal lights and light sensors continued to work normally. This happened several times while driving on an unlighted road at night, creating a dangerous situation, unable to see the road ahead or other cars seeing me coming. Nhtsa action number pe08066 describes a similar problems caused by a defective printed circuit board in the light control module (lcm), resulting in several thousand warranty claims. In fact, this has been determined to be the defective part on my car, which has now been replaced by a ford dealer at a cost of $511.07 for the lcm plus $184.97 labor and tax. Ford advises me that my car was not in the recall campaign, but obviously it has developed the same problem.an upgraded part lcm has been developed by ford for replacement.ibelieve i should havebeen notified of this earlier for replacement so i would not have experienced this dangerous situation. The odi investigation was closed 3/24/09. I believe it should be reopened as dealers tell me that they replace "lots" of thesemodules. I have retained the defective lcm for analysis.

My lights do not come on when my wipers are activated in the rain. This happen when i am driving or stationary.

Well i bought this car and it has recallson it but know the ford shop won't fix i thought it was free to get recalls fixed wow

The contact owns a 2003 mercury grand marquis.the contact stated that the exterior front headlights would fail sporadically and without warning.the contact would have to keep the high beam headlights activated at all times in order to see properly at night.a local mechanic repaired the failure numerous times, but the failure would recur.the dealer was in the process of replacing the manual light switch and the fuses.the vehicle was in the process of repair.the manufacturer was not contacted.the failure and current mileage was approximately 109,000. The vin was unavailable.

Lighting module failure. Parts have beenordered on 8/27/14, by pacific marple ford ,broomall, pa.610-353-5500. Dealer stated on 8/27/14 that they should receive the part in approximately in a month. I visited dealer on 10/3/20-14 and they told me ford has notified them it may be 2015 no lighting module i called ford motor comany relationship center on 9/3/14,9/15,9/18, 9/23, 10/3,10/25 and 10/30 2014ms jodi of the center called me on 9/18/14 her phone # 866-631-3788 ext. 77744. She stated she will call me on 9/30 with an update. Have not heard from her since. Left messages for her on 10/3, 10/25 and 10/30 2014. I cannot drive at night. My auto inspection is november 2014 . No headlights, cannot pass inspectionthis is ford's responsibilty, not the dealer. Please help. Thank you

Headlights failed while driving at night, shortly after starting, 2-5 minutes. This happened with the light control in automatic or in manual modes. After pulling off of road in traffic, the lights began working within 2 or 3 minutes, apparently this is a common defect in this auto.

Intermittent failure of headlights throughout life of vehicle. Headlights cease to work; high beams work if flash to pass lever is continuously pressed. On 5/18/15, complete headlight failure, speed on drive home estimated at 5 mph max as roads were dark and driving with flash to pass lever activated requires one handed driving. Very unsafe. Symptoms consistent with lcm failure reported by multiple marquis and crown victoria owners and ford bulletin 14n01. Contacted ford and stated we never received 14n01 - ford customer service stated they were unable to provide copy of 14n01 !? and referred to dealer. Contacted dealer who stated i would need to physically come to dealership for a copy of 14n01, if the dealer diagnosed a 14n01 issue, the repair would take two days. I asked if a loaner would be provided. Dealer stated no and dealer stated they could not order the part ahead of diagnosing the vehicle per my request to expedite lcm replacement. The grand marquis and crown victoria2003-2005 should be recalled. Has anyone at ford ever driven without headlights? this is a safety issue which is a recall issue, not a stealth ford customer satisfaction campaign attempt at pacifying consumers with non working headlights. This problem was originally identified in 2008; why are consumers driving cars with malfunctioning headlights in 2015? why does a ford owner have to obtain a copy of 14n01 on the nhtsa website versus from ford via email? so much for the "go further" promises of ford; we car owners aren't "going further" with no headlights.

The contact owns a 2003 mercury grand marquis. While driving approximately 60 mph, the headlights went out without warning. The contact managed to drive home. The vehicle was taken to the dealer (borman autoplex in las cruces, nm, 575-525-4500) where it was diagnosed that the lighting module needed to be repaired. The technician stated that the failure was repaired earlier per an unknown recall; therefore, the contact would be responsible for the repair cost. The manufacturer was called and stated that the recall repair was a one-time repair and hung up the phone. The failure was not repaired. The failure mileage was not provided.

While driving, lights turn off by themselves. It can be 3 minutes from departure they turn off or longer. They just don't stay on. Try to turn on manually and will not turn on. If i drive long enough they come on by themselves. Dangerous when on street with no lighting and oncoming traffic at night or driving next to trailer rigs who do not know my vehicle is on their right or left. Have read on internet many others have this issue with ford products and other years.

I have a 2003 mercury grand marquis that has a problem with the headlights going out. I have researched this on the internet and find that there are many more complaints the same as mine.a recall should be issued and ford motor company should replace the lighting module on these vehicles. It is a safety issue since it has happened two different times in the past month.both times were not on the interstate or turnpike which we often travel. Action should be taken to correct this problem.

I understand there is a problem with the headlights failing and a letter was issued about a year ago, but no parts were furnished to dealers.

The recall is over a year old and the lights are now failing to come on. If i wack the console i can get the lights on but it's getting worse. What can be done to remedy this?

2003 grand marquis headlight failure. The headlights on the car just go out atinopportune times. This is a common problem on this model. Why hasn't there been a recall for this extremely dangerous issue. Seventy miles an hour and losing the headlights is a serious problem.

While driving down the hwy my headlights went off then back on, then off.this is a known problem with what ford motor company calls the lcm (lighting control module) which they have determined was due to in part to poor sodering at manufacturing.there are thousands of the complaints filed, with the same issue. I cannot drive me car at night in fear of loosing lighting as they come on and off sporadically.why has no recall been issued. I was informed by dealer they are all aware of this issue as well.the part costs $499.00 plus labor. (who can afford this, better yet ford needs to own up)this eventually is going to lead to vehicle loss of control with consumers, and fatalities i am afraid, just as the ford explorer did...please have the nhtsb investigate this further, and make ford mo. Company due a mandatory recall. This is a very serious issue i'm afraid, and the consumer is having to pay the price for fords negligence.any insight into this investigation is greatly appreciated.thank you,[xxx]information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).

I have a 2003 mercury grand marquis. The automatic headlamps operate erratically. At night, i will be driving and the headlamps will switch off for no apparent reason. Often times, if i am able, i pull over on the side of the road and either have to just wait or fiddle with the headlight switch until they come back on. Many times they will switch off 3 or 4 times. This creates a dangerous situation for me. I am 87 years old and my daughter who also drives the car is 66 years old. This is a serious problem. Unfortunately, in order to repair this, it has been estimated at anywhere from $400 to $800 to repair this malfunction. I hope the nhtsa will see fit to order a recall by ford to repair this defect.

When driving at night, headlights will sometime become dim, usually the headlights will cut off. Less than a minute, after they go off, headlights will return back on.

Complete headlite failure. Faulty lighting control module.traveling highway speed. Now, i understand that mercurys are no longer being made. How will a recall take place when vehicle make and model are no longer being manufactured ? there's no incentive. Ford dealers know how to stick it to you really good with no guarantee on electrical parts.

While driving my lights just shut off by themselves and i have to hold the lever towards me to continue to have light until the sensor decides to shut back on.this is a safety hazard and i have 2 small children that i ride back and forth to school in this vehicle.

While driving to work at 3:15am my headlights went out without working causing me to pull onto the should er of the highway. Lights would not come back on regardless of what i did at that moment. The only way to get lights was to pull the level back on the steering column in order to drive with the high beams on. The lights would only stay on with the lever held back until i reached my work. This has know happened with daily frequency which now has deemed my car undrivable after dusk until i get this fixed. From the research i have conducted, this appears to be a very common issue on the ford crown victoria as well as the mercury grand marquis. I was very fortunate that i was in an area that allowed me to get my car off the highway without incident but this may not be the case for the next driver who experiences the failure of the light control module for these vehicles.

Head lights would not come on when we triedto return to our hotel in yankton sd.head lights are intermittent going to work during morning drive in lincoln ne.morning sun is bright enough so not a safety hazard.we can not trust vehicle to drive at night.went to beatrice ford, beatrice ne to get fixed but were told lcm module is on back order. 8-22-2014.

Hello, we have a 2003 mercury grand marquis that has a problem with the head lights shutting off at random times. Nothing gave warning to this problem happening, we bought the car used, and was just fine for a year, then all of a sudden one day the headlights just go out. The first time it happened was about 6 months ago(3-1-10). Now everytime it is driven with the headlights on, it is guaranteed to happen at least once and sometimes up to 5 times just in 3 miles of driving on my wife's way home from work. The only way to get the lights back on after they go out is to pull over to the side of the road, shut the car off, let sit for a few min, then start and they work again for a bit. This is overall very dangerous and surprising that we have not been in an accident or received a ticket yet! i am a active member on a crown victoria forum, and with little searching on that site or google you will see tons of reports of this being a very common problem on the 2003-2005 crown victoria, grand marquis, and mercury marauder. With the help of other members on that forum it was found to be a faulty lcm(lighting control module) which has a problem with overheating lighting relays. The only way to remedy this problem is to purchase a new lcm for anywhere between $250 and $600 with no guarantee how long that part will last. I actually purchased a new one today. Very expensive fix just for the use of headlights, but i value my families safety more. I will be keeping my old lcm to possibly have it repaired for when my new part fails again. Thanks so much.

I have a serious dangerous situation going on with the headlights that couldend with fatal results. The headlights will go out by themselves at night which could result in a car crash. The lights will go out without warning while the vehicle is in motion wherever you are.

Driving down the road and the head lights just go off,do not have any control over the selector switch, they only way to have lights is to hold the flash bright light on the turning signal and hold there, you might get lucky and let go of the turning signal and the lights might come on and go right back off, very unsafe, could cause a bad accident,i have priced this to be replaced and they are telling on about 650.00 for the part along, plus the labor involved,if they know this is happening and had complaints, they should replace the defective item, before someone gets in a serious crash or killed.

Steering column failures

The contact owns a 2003 mercury grand marquis. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the power steering malfunctioned causing the steering wheel to become hard to maneuver. Also, the contact stated that the headlights would fail sporadically. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where the technician diagnosed that the lower steering shaft was defective and needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 120,000 and the current mileage was 122,000.

Ford panther vehicles had recirculating ball steering until 2002, redesigned to rack and pinion steering in 2003.ford issued recall 13s08 for severe corrosion that can seize the lower intermediate steering shaft which may cause the upper intermediate shaft to collapse and the steering column lower bearing to separate, covering 2005-2012 vehicles but not 2003 and 2004 vehicles having same parts and symptoms.steering has become extremely stiff, steering wheel not returning to straight ahead on its own, and difficult to steer at all speeds.ford dealer lubricated lower steering shaft 2 months ago, but symptoms returned in 2,000 miles.these symptoms are concern for real danger of complete loss of steering.

While driving the steering freezes up while trying to make a turn.i took it to colonial ford in plymouth, ma. And they informed me it was a defective steering shafti check the recall list and my wife who has a 2010 exact same model is on the recall list forsteering problems and my neighbors daughter who has a 2000 exact same model has the same steeringproblem and took it to sullivan brothers in kingston, ma. And they fixed it for free saying it was a recall itemwhy would all three car have the exact same problem with the steering and yet ford only put a recall on the 2000 and the 2010, i do not understand why the 2003 in not on the recall list for the same problem.

I purchased new tires today for this vehicle. Dealer advised having front end alignment checked due to wear patterns on tires. Brought the vehicle to my front end alignment shop and told then that there is "a flat spot when turning the wheel' the technician drove the vehicle and brought it into the shop to inspect the front end prior to doing any alignment work. The technician called the parts dealer and gave the vin number and was told the availability of the oem and after market parts. After hanging up the technician stated that ford had previously recalled the 2003 grand marquis for the same issue,(lower steering shaft binding), but they couldn't find any open recall for this vehicle. I was quoted $270.00 for the part not including labor, alignment and tax. I believe this issue should be re-visited if it was originally a recall issue. Other than that i will have to pay the repair bill. And for the record, this is my 4th mercury grand marquis that i own and never in time that i have been the owner , this issue ever surfaced. Thank you.

Steering locks up while driving. While driving the steering locks up and you have to apply real force regain steering. I took to a mechanic and was informed it was the lowet steering joint. He informed me that hes encountered ithis on several occasions on this model car and there was a recal on this issue. I called my local dealership to inquire on the issue to be informed that it was the 2005+ model. I than called my) parts dealership to order the part to find out the part is for the 2003-2014 vehicle why isnt all applicable moldel years included in therecall

Vehicle has become increasing difficult to steer and requires manual strength to turn the wheel.at this time we are not able to drive the vehicle, the steering is too hard and would be too dangerous to drive.doing research on this vehicle i have found that it is the same problem that other marquis' have experience and for which there is a recall.the current recall only applies to the years of 2005 to 2011.calling the ford customer service department did not produce any help or results, only an apology that my car was not included in the recall. Ford should be required repairall marquis with this same problem or at the very least provide help for those who call their customer service department complaining of the same issue.

I own a 2003 mercury grand marquis. My steering shaft is corroded and it is no longer safe to drive. I contacted my local ford dealer about the issue after realizing there was a recall on the same part but only to find out that the recall was for 2005-2011 . But when i go to buy the part. Its listed for years 2003-2011. I would like to know why 2003 was not on the recall?

While making a turn at an intersectionin my 2003 mercury grand marquis i felt a pop in my steering wheel ,which totally left the steering wheel spinning freely in my hands. Whatever broke was between the steering wheel and the firewall, because nothing moves under the hood. I was traveling about 15 to 20 mph so i was able to stop before hitting a ditch.

The contact owns a 2003 mercury grand marquis. While turning the steering wheel right and left, the steering wheel was difficult to turn. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was unknown.

When driving the car and making a turn in either direction, at the point the steering wheel has turned 180 degrees and is now upside down from "normal position", it feels as though the steering wheel is going to come off!!! it rocks back and forth in the upside down position.also.... At times it feels hard to turn the wheel in either direction.this problem apparently comes from the upper and lower steering shafts where the u-joint connects the two steering shafts.if i slather grease on the shafts and work the steering wheel back and forth about 30 times, the "tough steering" or the feeling of no power steering subsides, but comes back in anywhere from 1 week to a month!i can be driving on the interstate and all at once i can not change lanes, which is very scary at times!!! when this happens at 65 mph it is almost timpossible to steer the car!!!it is also very dangerous making a turn at 10-20 mph as on numerous occasions, the power steering quits working and i almost ram the car sitting at the stop light because the car won't make the complete turn!!! many times, i have had to stop dead to keep from hitting the car as i am trying to turn right, and then with all my strength, crank and muscle the steering wheel to complete my right turn! ( and i am a 6', 245 lb. Man in pretty good shape!!!) i had heard from other grand marquis owners that there was a recall on earlier models of the grand marquis (2000-2002 models) for the same problem, but for some reason, the 2003 grand marquis ls model was excluded from this recall!!!.both problems that i have listed apparently originate from the upper and lower steering shafts and are completely unsafe!!!there is no warning as to when the steering problem presents itself.in the winter, here in illinois, the problem compounds immensely!!!! this problem need to be addressed before someone is killed!!! thank you!

Steering wheel mounted upside down.this places the airbag in the wrong position.will be repaired today by dealer.

Paint peeling whine from real differential

Paint flaking and peeling off various body parts of my 2003 mercury grand marquis. Nothing has been done yet.

The paint on this vehicle has bubbled and fell off the car, all over the car in various places. There does not appear to be a pattern to the damage, except where the window wash squirts there is some discoloration and rust. Preventative measures have no affect on the paint coming off as multiple washes and or waxes do/ did nothing to prevent it from continuing. Part of the damage follows a rivet or welding line on the hood where it is welded to braces on the bottom of the hood, other places appear to be high wind or high stress areas. The paint feels fragile , has no resistance to breakage and appears to be a well known defect when researched. Sanding , resurfacing and repainting helps some, but unless the whole car is redone it is ugly and very hard to control and it is also disappointing.

Dt*:the contact stated the splash guard panel underneath the vehicle that protects the radiator, power steering, and vacuum hoses, is very low to the ground and can be struck by objects in the roadway.although a failure did not occur, the vehicle was seen by a dealer for inspection.the dealer was unable to duplicate the problem. . splash guard always made contact with the bumper stop on parking lot, when a car pulled out the splashing guard made contact with it, making a terrible noise, the panel became more warped each time that it happened.because it covered vital engine and steering parts, this panel should be straight and more secure.

Rear axle and bearing noises.marquis bought new. Owner's son-in-law noted minor bearing noise in rear when visiting in 2004. Son-in-law received car after death of mother-in-law in 2012, car had 24k miles at that time. Noticed pronounced rear end noise at that time (a whaa-whaa-whaa matching speed changes). Left rear axle and outboard bearing found to be pitted and were replaced by independent repair shop.research by owner indicates that axles for this, and other similar mercury and fords had factory axles installed that had not been properly heat treated. Now, nov. 2014, at 43.4k miles the right axle is starting to exhibit noise similar, so repair is up-coming. Will examine nhtsa recall 04v328000 as noted here in other comments posted. Also reference ford/mercury service bulletin 0355.

Vehicle vibrates at any speed, getting worse as speed increases. When hitting a bump the steering wheel twists to the right. Dealer test drove the vehicle, said he felt the vibration, and it was a weight distribution problem.vehicle was then taken to dealer where purchased.dealersaid that vibration was normal for the vehicle.

Thank you.

Premature failure of rear axle shaft bearing. Original nhtsa recall # 04v328000 in july of 2004. My car was not in the original recall, but i have just had this very problem with my car. If i hadn't taken the car in, i could have had a major safety problem if the bearing had gone out totally. Please force ford motor co. 2003 mercury grand marquis, the built date is 10/2002.grinding noise at right rear axle and fluid leaking at right rear axle seal coating the rear brakes. Right rear axle bearing and shaft assy failure per nhtsa campaign id number 04v328000. The vehicle belonged to my 75 year old father whom passed away last year. I now own the car. I'll assume the problem has existed for quite some time. According to ford motor company there is no such problem with this vehicle. However, ford does sell a half shaft rear axle bearing repair kit part number 4a109 $618.91 to fix the problem. Can't seem to get ford lincoln mercury to cover cost of repair.

The rear end makes a thumbing noise when the vehicle speed reaches 40 mph and faster.tires were replaced, but the noisebecame worse. I have a 2003 mercury grand marquis with 49,000 miles.it started having a grinding noise in the rear end.i carried the vehicle to my mercury dealer.he stated that ford had made axles with a soft metal which caused the wheel bearing to make a groove in the axle.to correct this problem i would have to replace both axles and wheel bearings.i feel that ford does not correct this problem there is a possibility of the axles breaking and causing the wheel to come off and cause an accident.i think ford should recall these axles.

The rear axle was making a growling noise whenthe vehicle was being driven. The consumer took the vehicleto the dealer for an inspection and results showed that the rear wheels could fall off if not repaired.

This is our third mercury marquis - and we love them - but both the 1999 model and especially this 2003 model has a serious paint problem.our last two cars have been white and we barely got them home when the paint, especially on the front and rear bumpers, began to peel.what, if anything, is mercury doing about this unsightly, annoying, and frustrating problem???we are not class action types but, after putting up with this for several years, we are ready to revolt!

Will not start...many times over last 6months..security issue..was toldno sound when turn on key--all lights on dash on as engine-air bag-check gas cap lights...but no sound...ignition coil repalced .battery frplaced spark plugs replaced tired reprogram keys....still does this..it may or may not start after turning steering hard ...i need my car handi cap senior70yr

Headlights began not working intermittently, and now do not go on, but high beams still work without issue. Seems very similar to recall 15s39, which was repaired on my vehicle in 2015, but became an issue again about a month ago. The car has only accrued about 10,000 since it was last repaired.

My thoughts were "what is happening?" & "brake or you are going to die" thank god this vehicle drown in hurricane katrina. I called your ofc in 2004 after this happened and was sent a form to fill out and return to you which i never did. However, with the toyota recall it disturbs me that my ford did the same thing. An investigation needs to be made as to why these things are happening because in my case it was not a floor mat and neither was it driver's error. It is important to myself that this incident is reported and hopefully someone will take it serious and find out what the real problem is before more lives are lost.iconsider myself very lucky that i was not injured and others were not injured. My vehicle sustained $5,000.00 worth of damage and at the timethe incident was reported to the ford dealership.they supposedly checked the car but could find no reason for the sudden acceleration.

Brake pedal andgas pedal are too closely located.when stepping onbrake pedal consumer can hit the gas pedal at the same time.

The accelerator became stuck in the idle position.

Consumer complained aboutsudden acceleration. Consumer was in a parking lot and put the vehicle in drive. Did not press the accelerator, and vehicle jumped the curb and flattened two tires.consumer had the vehicle towed to a body shop.

Dt*: on three occasions when the gear was placed into drive the vehicle would lurch forward or when the brakes were applied the same thing would occur causing the tires to screech. The vehicle was taken to dealers who determined that the gas and brake pedals were to close to each other.when depressing one pedal the other pedal was also applied. The dealers also determined that because the pedals were in close proximity it would cause the vehicle to unintentionally accelerate. The dealers contacted the manufacturer who confirmed that there were no recalls on this issue. Updated 7/14/2006 -

-on 12/20/06 while exiting the driveway his 2003 mercury grand marquis rear ended another vehicle.the contact try to apply the break pedal, but couldn't get the vehicle to stop on time because the brake pedal is 4 inches higher than the accelerator pedal.the contact is concern for safety, because he has experience the same incident several of times.

Consumer stated that due to the proximity of gas and brake pedals, when depressing brake pedalconsumerstepped on gas pedal, causingvehicle toaccelerate and run into a post.

While driving under raining conditions cruise control was not working.instrument lights panel was off, andwindshield worked intermittently. Dealerreplaced two computers in the electrical system , but problem still occurring.

Dt*: the contact stated while parked with the ignition on; the vehicle suddenly lurched forward without warning.the brakes were depressed and the ignition was turned off, which stopped the vehicle after it traveled 60 ft.this had occurred on numerous occasions.also, while traveling 60 mph with the cruise control engaged, the vehicle sped uncontrollably to 80 mph.the brakes were depressed, but did not disengage the cruise control.also, while traveling 40 mph, the vehicle accelerated suddenly, causing the contact to drive the vehicle into a ditch to avoid an accident.the contact sustained a bruise to the shoulder.the manufacturer was contacted, and provided no assistance since the vehicle was out of warranty.the vehicle was taken to a service dealer twice, where the cruise control was replaced, but the problem persisted.

Driver seatbelt was replaced (bad maybe) and air bag light came on immediately after seat belt was replacedwipers turn on by themselves and will not turn off.

The contact owns a 2003 mercury grand marquis. The contact stated that the windshield wipers operated independently. The contact mentioned that the fuse was removed to prevent the windshield wipers from operating.the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 120,000.

The contact stated that all the warning indicators illuminated intermittently on the instrument panel for approximately five to ten seconds when the vehicle was being driven. The contact also stated that the blower motor failed to function. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where the failure could not be determined. The vehicle was not repaired. The vehicle was not taken to a dealer. The manufacturer was not contacted. The approximate failure mileage was 80,000.

Driver's remote controls of front passenger window and driver's side mirror just stopped working. Auto is out of warranty (2003).

Dt*: the contact stated over a period of two years acorns have accumulated inside the holes surrounding the windshield wiper arms.the holes are two inches in diameter.the contact lives near an acorn tree and the acorns funnel themselves down into the holes. There were 50 or more acorns inside that caused the mechanism to bind.the contact believes this is a design defect.this caused the wiping mechanism to bind and stripped the gear in the windshield wiper motor causing the wipers to stop working.the wipers have been repaired. My son has a 2003, mercury grand marquis.the car has know had three rims crack at the weld that hold the two halves of the steel rim together, one was cracked almost completely around the entire rim and if it had cracked in half, the two halves of the rim would have separated and you would have lost the tire and complete control of the vehicle.the car now has 32,000 miles on it and the spare is now cracked and losing air and this tire has only been on the car less than a year.if you google cracked rims on mercury cars or grand marquis you will get hundreds if not thousands of people having the same issue with their steel rims and if you go to online parts houses and put in mercury grand marquis steel rims you will find repaired rims for about $47 and a couple sites even say, "these rims have been re-welded and have no cracks." i know that the san jose police cars use the same rims as my son's car and last week i asked a police officer if they have problems with the rims cracking and he told me they change the rims twice a year because they are prone to cracking at the weld.i have also taken the car to ford several times and they have had no interest in providing different rims or even giving me the information needed to file a complaint, all they wanted to do was sell me a new rim or rims for $197 each. My question to them was, "why would i want to buy something for $197 that will crack again since it too isn't welded together correctly?"i feel that this is a serious safety issue and should be recalled.we should not have to wait until somebody dies because a rim separates and the person loses control of the vehicle and hits and kills someone. .i am also surprised that no one has complained about this to you before and that if they have you have taken no action, i guess you have to get the problem on the news before action is taken.

Bridgestone insignia se 200 with 35,000 miles. Car was driving normally at 40 mph, began feeling a vibration. Soon the car was wiggling like a wheel was loose. Handling worsened rapidly. In 5 miles i became so concerned i pulled off the road & called aaa. One tire had bulges. Put the spare on and saw the tire had began to separate in the middle of the tread about 8 inches long & down to steel belt. Another separation inside near sidewall.

The contact owns a 2003 mercury grand marquis. The contact stated that one of the tires became flat. The vehicle was taken to a tire shop for inspection where the contact was advised that the wheel exhibited a one-quarter inch fractured. The tire was replaced but the vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue. The approximate failure mileage was 120,000.

The hub caps on my 2003 mercury grand marquis regularly fall off. I've lost three so far. My dealer reports that this is a common problem, but so far i've seen no attempt to correct it.

The vehicle hit a curb which bent the right wheel hub.*nlmcustomer advises that wheel bent as a result of driving over potholes and normal road obstructions common to the philadelphia pa and trenton nj areas.two wheels were damaged in the first 5000 miles of use.

The contact owns a 2003 mercury grand marquis.after driving between 60-70 mph, the contact noticed that one of the tires had lost air.he found a service station and inflated the tire.the next morning, he awoke to find that the tire was completely flat.he took the vehicle to wal-mart and they diagnosed the cause of failure as a cracked rim.the current and failure mileages were 82,077.updated 07/24/07.

The contact owns a 2003 mercury grand marquis. While the contact was examining his vehicle he noticed that the rim on the rear passenger side of the vehicle was cracked. The dealer informed the contact that the rim needed to be replaced. The driver noticed that the tire would need air on a consistent basis. The current and failure mileages were 70000.

The weld separated the steel rim causing air leaks and the weld was letting go which could have caused serious injuries or death. Ford dealer would not warranty this due to 46,000 miles. For safety defects, this should have been warranted.

I recently had to replace two wheels on my wife's 2003 mercurygrand marquis due to substantial wheel cracks along the welds on the outerflange of the wheel causing the tires to deflate (two separate events).isee reported in usa today that interceptor are being recalled forthis same 'serious safety' problem.i contacted ford/mercury about my vehicle and they say that it is not covered at this time and that "ford and the national highway traffic and safety administration (nhtsa) work together to proactively identify areas of concern through investigation of consumer and dealer feedback.during an investigation ford cooperates fully with nhtsa.ford does not speculate on the outcome of any current investigation or future actions.due to our rigorous safety standards and constant testing, not all issues result in field service actions or customer satisfaction programs."i visited the nhtsa website and saw that other mercury failures of like type have been logged.i'm adding my complaint and experience to the list and suggest that ford be made to replace all the defective wheels.
