This is a written complain regarding a company recall on replacing head gasket for all mercury cougar (3.8v engine) 1994 and up.i own a 1993 mercury cougar xr7 3.8v engine who has the same engine problem as the 1994, but the mercury company decided to have a recall on all 1994 models only.well, i feel this should be reconsider since i had the same problem appeared to my car and had to take it to a dealer who informed me that this particular engine has a manufacture defect in the design.however, they couldnt do it under the manufacture recall due to the year of the car begin 1993 and not 1994. I had to pay $1000.00 out of my bucket to have it done by a mercury/lincoln dealer, which i felt it was unfair to be getting penalized for something i had no control of.i took very good care of my car and my engine had only 63,000 miles on it. I had explained to the dealer that the head gasket blown without giving me any sign or indications.they confirmed that there was nothing at my part that i should have done to prevent this from happening.they are very much aware of this particular engine problem, but still cannot do it on the company expense.in light of this, due to the head gasket gotten blown, it damaged other parts in car which the dealer gave an estimated cost of $800.00.i really cannot afford to spend this money on something that the mercury company is very aware of if and even admits that they have a design problem on all 3.8v engine.

Headlights flash intermittently as a result of a circuit breaker malfunction.fix requires replacing the headlight switch or installing a new connector and wiring. "ea96-019" prompted a recall, however dealer informed owner that his vehicle was out of scope.

Headlights started flashing, and blinking, after a few miles of driving.while i was driving on a country road, this flashing attracted a deer onto the road, which caused some body damage to my car.the problem was in the headlight switch.my car does not have foglights, so it did not qualify for recall 99v275000, but was acting just the same.the repair shop changed the headlamp switch, and the flashing ended. I was told the headlamp switch had a short in it.

Head lights flicker off and on. I had to play with the headlight switch to finally get them back on. At first the instrument cluster would not come on, but barely pulled on switch and they came on. Power steering pump failed, causing the steering system to malfunction which may result in loss of steering control. Steering pump has been replaced 5 times. Dealer cannot determine the problem.please provide further information.

The driver's door became stuck.....

The power door lock switch has become very temperamental (especially at high ambient temperatures (above 90 degrees)), it acts like there is a circuit breaker opening and closing, because sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. When it doesn't, because the actual locks are cylindrical, they can not be opened by fingers, so one has to open the window, and use the car keys on the outside of the door, to unlock the door.

Left hub is starting to go out..the lock is stuck on my ignition switch so i cann't crank my car..motor mount broke.

The driver's seat belt failed to unlock.the auto shoulderbelt did not move and interrupts the ability to maneuver the steering wheel.the driver door molding did would not stay in place.the driver door has to be pulled up in order to shut.scc

The passenger side door hinges has a failure, that results in the doorbeing inoperative(makes it difficult to close).

The passenger door hinge failed, not allowing the door to open or close properly. Dealer sent us to a local repair shop (at our own expense) and they took 5 days to perform this simple repair! the driver's door had this same problem a couple years ago. The doors are very heavy and long and just seems to be badly designed. The passive seat belt jammed in the frame of the door that was fixed. Don't know if it was related somehow to the door hinge, but happened about the same time. Shop was told to fix door, and they did, but the seat belt did not recover. Have not decided whether or not to fix it yet.it is jammed at the back, so we can still slip the harness over our shoulders, so we are restrained properly, but it no longer moves back and forth along the door frame.

Passenger's side anddriver side door hinges and attachments came apart, and the rubber came off the door.

I have been trapped so to speak in my car and had to manually remove the seat belt- i can see this being a very serious problem i have attempted to have it taken care of but have to return to the dealer that did the repairs - in sayre , pa. -- they also replaced the hinges on the driver's side door.

When driving and turning the wheel car somtimes goes to the left or to the right . Please describe .

Tire came off vehicle, causing loss of control/accident/injury with no deployment of driver's air bag.

When i purchased the car new, it had a real hard pull to right. I took it back to the dealer to check out. They aligned the front end , still hard pull . They sent me to the same firestone dealer. They said it was in the alignment (11,200mi) after the alignment($100) the mechanic put back on rack to rotate tires , i would not agree to that, so i went totire america to buy new tires,(michelin) and the hard pull went away. So firestone has made junk tires for sometime!! i don't want nothing from firestone!! they wouldn't help when they should have!!!don't think that i am just jumping on the band wagon, just want to tell my side of the story, ford and firestone wouldn't listen. Thanks!!!unk t( dot number: tire size: p215/70r15 )
