"takata airbag"i purchased a 2013 mercedez sprinter 3500 van that had been converted through winnebago industries in forest city ia.when i exported/imported the vehicle into canada, i was unable to register the motorhome, due to the takata air bag recall.the registry of motor vehicle in nova scotia, canada has granted me a temporary permit for 2017 only,i have been unable to receive any sort of time line as to the approximate date that this recall will be repaired. I was told in october of 2016 by mercedes benz usa that they expected the repair would be completed by july/august of 2016.when contacted today they said they have no timeline that they could share indicating when this tacata airbag recall would be completed.mbusa has known about this recall for approximately 3 years, it appears that they have not communicted to their customers or to the nhtsa which seems unacceptable.

This 120 vac electrical issue (shock hazard) is in regard to an rv - a winnebago view profile sitting atop a mercedes benz sprinter 3500 chassis.there are two a/c circuits for "outlets" (120 vac plugs).#2 outlet circuit has a ground fault yet the gfci at the first outlet in the circuit does not trip nor does the circuit breaker.when my rv is powered from my garage 120 vac gfci plug it is not tripped either.i've gotten electrical shocks at the water/electrical storage / access area while attached to a 120 vac power source and under the engine while setting stabilizing jacks at a jacking point in the front of the vehicle. In all cases the rv was stationary - either at a camp site, or in my driveway attached to 120 vac power.
I have had to change the speed sensor on the right back wheels 3 times. This affects electrical stability control of vehicle and abs system. It is unusual and expensive to be doing this. Last time was april 2019. I have to take it in to the mercedes again to change it.
I have had two failures of a rear speed sensor which have caused a loss of anti lock braking, traction control, and cruise control.the most recent failure on oct 14, 2020 also resulted in some erratic transmission shifting.all of these things impact the safety of the vehicle. In both failures the vehicle was traveling at highway speeds.
1 rear wheel speed sensors failed 2 years ago2 rear wheel speed sensors failed two weeks ago.0
Rear wheel speed sensor failure.i have had to replace a rear wheel speed sensor in each of the last 3 years. When the sensor fails the abs system stops operating. Cruise control is disabled and traction control is disabled. Vehicle is still drivable, but safety systems are lost until repaired.based on web searches this is a very common problem for this vehicle and model year.i have not had a dangerous incident when the sensor gave out though i have had to deal with some uncommanded braking.

Wheel speed sensor failure. 5 sensors replaced on 4 different occasions. I cannot find the first invoice for the henderson nevada wheel speed sensor repair but here are the other three... 7/25/2016 spokane washington- @25232 miles, replace both front wheel speed sensors, 2/6/2018 reno nevada- @29593 miles, replace right rear wheel speed sensor, 7/13/2018 spokane washington- @ 31575 miles left rear wheel speed sensor. As far as i'm conserned, the vehicle cannot be relied upon for travel. Look at the mile between repairs. A time oriented warranty does not apply to a milage based part on a vehicle. The failures occured while driving on paved highways.mercedes benz denied my lemon law claim.
Wheel sensors failure causes loss of abs braking , cruise control and traction control. When this occurs causes the vehicle to go into limp mode and rapid reduction of speed. All of the above causes a hazardous situation on the freeway. We have had 2 fail and many of our friends have experienced cthe same.

2013 mercedes benz sprinter. Consumer writes seeking reimbursement for repairs to vehicle. *ld
On march 22, 2020, the vehicle entered the 'limp home mode' while traveling on an interstate highway, where the speed limit was 70 mph. Prior to the failure, warning lights were present on the dashboard for abs, esp, and asr, with cruise control disabled. These indicator lights would clear occasionally after the vehicle was not in use for a period of time, and then reappear againafter driving for about an hour or two. The vehicle was towed to a dealership, where two failed speed sensors were replaced to correct the problem.a year later, the warning lights are back, with the loss of cruise control. It has not entered into the 'limp home mode' as of now.i have read news articles that were initially published about 6 months ago, that said that this is a known problem that is being investigated by nhtsa.what is the status and is mercedes doing anything to address this issue?to have the vehicle suddenly enter into 'limp home mode' on the interstate where speed limits are 70 mph is a safety concern.

Brakes are soft and spongy. When depressed, the pedal will travel to the floor making it difficult to stop. The dealer replaced the master cylinder and brake booster in march, 2015, but that did not change the operation of the brakes. My understanding from visiting several forums is that this a common complaint from other sprinter owners, yet mercedes benz says they have no knowledge of brake issues with the vehicles. The brakes are dangerous as they currently operate.

Brake pedal is spongy and must be pumped to get a firm pedal.i have taken it to the dealer twice and complained about this issue, and they tell me everything is normal.when you have to make a sudden surprise stop the pedal goes all the way to the floorboard.

The valves on the inner rear duelwheels basically can not be checkedthrough the very small holes in the wheel covers or even without the wheel covers. I had, upon delivery of the sprinter, the wheels removed to install metal valve extenders so i could regularly check tire pressures. This is a safety issue as extremely difficult to check tire pressuresleads to no checking, under inflation and on road tire failure.the sprinter 3500 should come with factory installed accessible valve extenders. I have met multiple sprinter drivers who have never checked their rear tire pressures.
Valve stem location make pressure sensing and air fill near impossible on rear wheels.no tmps system which will result in higher incidence of low pressure and dangerous driving situation leading to accidents.
The awning attached to the van and manufactured by fiamma does not extend or retract correctly and breaks down every single time we have had it fixed.the motor has to be replaced each time which is money out of our pocket.
