Side air bags deployed without cause.this happened on the garden state parkway on the middle lane.there were no debris or objects in the vehicle's path at the time.

Takata inflators recall alerted me to have my car exsamed.as i use my car every day.

My name is [xxx], and i am a resident of queens, ny. I recently bought a 07 mercedes benz s550 in july of 2009 from the certified pre-owned dealership with cpo warranty. I had it financed with mercedes benz financial. The car had 34,000 miles on it initially. Over the time span in which i used the car, i had to take the car many x's to the shop. In april 10 the trans. Failed, and in may 2010 the susp (active body control/ abc) system failed. These were the major items that req.'d work, besides that there were many other problems that occurred previously and as well as afterwards, that required getting service done on the car. If you take a look at the car's maintenance history, you will see a large amount of work done, and it should not be like that for such a high class and expensive car. Well i was driving the car, and had lil prob here and there. But i had no idea that was the least of my prob. On june 12, 2010, i had taken the car out for a work, and was driving in hillside ave in ny. My air conditioning in the car was running, except for the central fan, and when i tried to turn it off, it just continued to run. I was just driving along, when i smelled something burning, and decided to pull over. I turned the car off, and got out of the car and looked under the hood to make sure everything was ok. There was nothing wrong under the hood, so i got back in the car, and was about to pull out when i saw smoke coming out of the central vents on the dashboard.the car was still off, but the electrical components of the car began working by themselves. 1 by 1, the lights, the wipers, the windshield cleaning soap, the display, started to come on. I had just gotten out of the car, when it locked and the flames erupted. In a matter of minutes the car went up in flames and was completely totaled. I called the fire dept. And they put the fire out. Then i had the car towed to the dealership, and informed them of what had. Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).

The car stopped accelerating and then quit running.the conductor plate in the transmission failed.this is a known safety defect that mercedes-benz has ignored.

The vehicle shuts off for a second the esp and abs lights would come on, the steering wheel of the vehicle would get stiff, the brakes get stiff the headlights and interior lights would go off, and the command center would reboot. It seems like the vehicle is experiencing a brief electrical failure. I have been complaining of this problem since i purchased the vehicle as a certified preowned vehicle. The first time i took the vehicle to the dealership the replaced the steering control module and the problem persisted. I notified them of the reoccurring problem again and the claimed the where not able to find any faults. I set up a camera in the vehicle and videotaped the problem occurring and the finally took the vehicle for an extended test drive and replaced the central gateway which did not solve the problem. I contacted mbusa customer service to notify them of the safety concerns regarding the vehicle and that i was still experiencing the same problem and i was brushed off saying the were sorry and there is nothing they can do about the problem. This is a problem that could potentially lead to a fatal incident because it involves the vehicle cutting of for a brief second and causing many component not to function during that second and the vehicle is not intended to function in this manner. Mercedes is not doing their due diligence to investigate and correct the problem besides the basic diagnostics that do not yield an error code. I will gladly furnish the video tape which is evidence the issue occurs.

Vehicle becomes stuck in gear while driving down the road. Will not shift, sometimes you don't have enough power to move quickly. For example vehicle was stuck in 6th gear after leaving the highway. I could not accelerate to move the car. I had to shut the car off to reset the computer to get the car out of 6th gear. This has happened at least 10 times over the past 3 month period. Many other owners of this car have experienced the same transmission failure and that is very dangerous because the car lose power when it is stuck in a gear. The only way to fix the problem is to shut off the car and restart it. Mercedes benz should be held responsible for this issue.

The contact owns a 2007 mercedes s550. The contact was stopped at a traffic stop and noticed smoke coming from under the hood. The contact stopped in a parking lot and noticed flames were inside the grill and behind the passenger's side headlight. The fire department was called and a fire report was filed. The vehicle was towed to an insurance yard for inspection. The fire chief advised the contact that the fire was caused by an electrical failure in the headlight unit. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 51,000.

I was driving my s550 and came to a red light. I stopped at the light and when it turned green, i took my foot off the brakes and pressed the accelerator, but there was to response to pressing the accelerator. The car rpms were increasing but the vehicle was crawling at less than 5mph. This led to me pulling over and parking the vehicle and turning it off. I waited 5 minutes and then restarted it and it began to work normally. The second time this happened was while making a left turn, i pressed the gas pedal and there was no response and the car was revving but traveling less than 5 mph with oncoming traffic having to stop short to prevent crashing into me while i was making the left turn. This was again resolved with me parking the vehicle, turning it off and then restarting it. After the second time this occurred out of no where i decided its a very dangerous safety issue.

Error code p0019 cam sensor bank b, manufacturers used defective part that timing sprocket teeth have eroded due to defective parts used which have and will cause vehicle to stahl while running. Both front struts wear on all models that cause driving conditions that can cause death while driver excelration or stopping cause

Was driving and car just makes a jolt while shifting gear than i can't accelerate and it gets stuck in first gear rpm starts going up if i try to accelerate than i'll have to turn engine off which is inconvenient when your in traffic than restart it and it'll be normal but it happens every other day. Now the car is stuck on a gear and won't change gears completely parked it over night and still doesn't change gears when i start car and try to put it in drive it makes a hard jolt and doesn't accelerate past 30 mph. Been happening for 2 years now...

The contact owns a 2007 mercedes benz s550. While driving approximately 65 mph, an unknown warning light illuminated and unilluminated. In addition, the vehicle stalled and was able to restart, but the failure recurred. The vehicle was towed to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the alternator needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 90,000.

I brought a car from a car dealer in tampa florida and when i got the car i noticed that the car would not pickup speed after pressing the gas pedal and it was asking me to turn off the engine or it will fail . Also when i tried to put in coolant. I seen a milky substance that was coming out of the hoses and in the overflow tank of the coolant reservoir which indicates issues with the heads or head gasket . Also the title i got says salvaged which i asked if there was anything wrong with the car and the car dealer told me no . Never disclosing that the car has been salvaged . There are other issues with the car that i forget because of so many issues with the car that i cant keep up with and i want to return the car to the car dealer and get my money back and have tried but they refuse to make good on the sale

My last two vehicles have been a 2007 mercedes s550.my first one operated well until the last 6-months that i had it.during that time, i had six visits and $5000+ in repairs, before a freak flood totaled the car.i used the insurance money and purchased a second car, identical to the first.i have not even made the first payment, and the car has been diagnosed with a gasket leak between the upper / lower intake manifold.this is a molded gasket and is not field replaceable.the entire manifold must be replaced at $2000.in my research, it has been discovered that this has been a known issue with mercedes, but they refuse to issue a recall to correct the problem.instead, they allow the warranty to expire and allow the consumer to pay for the bill.i have contacted mercedes benz usa and they refuse to provide any compensation or even acknowledge that it is a known issue.this is totally unacceptable and shows a lack of commitment by mercedes to stand behind their product.i might point out that they only have 48 month / 50k warranty, which is very low to other vehicles which have a standard 10 year / 100k warranty.this tells me that mercedes does not have the faith in their cars to increase the warranty.this is a car that cost 100k new and one would expect a better warranty and support from a company that touts their cars as being the best.i can tell you that i will never buy another mercedes or step foot into a dealership.on that note, i caught my local dealership attempting to overcharge me on a part by $400.once i proved what other dealers where charging, they made an excuse and gave me the part at the rate that the other dealership was charging.what a shame.buyer beware!!!

Balance shaft/idle gear material wore out causing timing chain to become loose and engine to jump timing while driving.engine locked up and died while going down the highway! expensive repair that mercedes benz knows about!! they have an internal memo with a list of vin numbers that have the faulty idler gear that wears out prematurely but won't recall the product because it usually wears out just after warrantee period! something must be done!

The contact owns a 2007 mercedes-benz s550. While driving 10 mph, the engine stalled and the vehicle failed to restart. Worn timing sprocket and balance shaft was defective when i purchase the vehicle in 2011. Mercedes benz knew about this defective part and did not inform me. The vehicle had 46000 miles on it at the time. If i was inform about this problem i wouldn't have bought it. I believe this is a violation of the consumer protection act.

2007 s550, 7-speed automatic transmission, 57,000 miles. Started about 6-8 months ago. Experiencing very rough jolting type shifting, most commonly occurs after being parked on an incline or decline. Occurs when driving up or down an incline. Also, occurs on the freeway or after using cruise control. Transmission shifts from first to second gear and stays there until it's restarted. Requires turning off the car waiting a few seconds and restarting to reset the gears. Check engine light now starting to come on.very dangerous when driving in heavy traffic or on the freeway. After researching this issue i cannot believe it simply hasn't been recalled. This is a very dangerous issue...i will not allow my wife to even drive the car unless i am with her.----many forums are suggesting a valve body replacement. Appears to be a very common issue with these vehicle. Located a class action lawsuit that unfortunately was dismissed due to the complaint citing fraud. I don't believe mercedes sold these vehicles knowing the transmission was faulty. I would just expect them after receiving numerous complaints to offer their clients a repair option via recall. To date i am not aware of one. I have owned 4 mercedes in my lifetime, 38 years old and had a few minor issue here and there but never anything like this. Service has always been great but now that i am out of warranty i am left out in the cold. Not good for business in my opinion and very unsafe for anyone on the road while a mercedes owner is experiencing this issue.

Vehicle becomes stuck in gear while driving down the road. Will not shift, sometimes you don't have enough power to move quickly. For example vehicle was stuck in 6th gear after leaving the highway. I could not accelerate to move the car. I had to shut the car off to reset the computer to get the car out of 6th gear.this has happened at least 10 times over the past 3 month period. Many other owners of this car have experienced the same transmission failure and that is very dangerous because the car lose power when it is stuck in a gear. The only way to fix the problem is to shut off the car and restart it. Mercedes benz should be held responsible for this issue.

My 2007 mb s550 base model stalled as i was merging on to the expressway in heavy traffic. After sitting on side of the road for 20mins, i started the car and it was making a whining noise and when i accelerate the noise gets louder. I drove the car to the nearest mercedes-benz dealership. I was told that the transmission needs to be replaced. The car has been serviced with mercedes and only has 100k miles. This will cost $7,800.00 the service guy stated that this should not be happening on this car but unfortunately he stated that he has seen this before.

Without any apparent reason the engine stalled, transmission appear not to be functioning properly. Car return to function normally after being parked for 2 or 3 hours. Today 4/20/2009 car appear to be experiencing the same problem, please notice that dashboard indicator is alerting of any malfunctioning.

Without any warning the transmission went out on 2007 mercedes s550 with only 40,000 miles on it. I purchased the vehicle brand new and had maintained service with mercedes and had all the records. The car was a few months out of the manufactures warranty yet i been very well maintained and had low mileage considering i bought it when they first came out in 2006.mercedes did everything possible to say i had not properly serviced vehicle until i produced all the records, thought they had a system that traced service sine all work was performed by them. The customer service was very rude and i ended up paying to have transmission replaced. I hope the customer service guy can buy a s series. It's the last one i will ever buy !!!!

I had a 2007 s550as i am going 70 miles per hour on a busy 405 freeway.and suddenly my vehicle front suspension full hard to the right almost collided with the vehicle on my right lane. But thank to the quick action of the driver on my right lane (he quickly change to the next lane when he saw my vehicle too close to his vehicle). If he not quickly changed to the next lane i am sure there is a multiple vehicle accident because it happen so quickly by the time i am reacted to control the vehicle, my vehicle already in his lane.i am used the emergency lane to get off the freeway at 5 mile per but my front suspension is moving up and down uneven like you are driving on uneven pavement.i had my vehicle tow to the dealer. And they are diagnosis with:code 5200b24/3 (left front body acceleration sensor): signal implausible this is the same problem that my friend s550 had before but mercedes dealer recall campaign no.2008080004.i had been show the recall letter to the service writer. Takata recall-i took my vehicle into park place mercedes of arlington in dallas, tx to get a diagnostic on why my panoramic sunroof would not open.i thought it could be repaired but service tech told me that the whole roof would have to be replaced.i feel like these cars are too expensive for parts not to be able to be repaired and have to be replaced.the shade goes back and forth, just the glass won't open, i don't understand why the whole roof has to be replaced.it sounds like an internal defect and i don't feel like i should have to pay for a whole new roof because of one part of it won't open up.mercedes needs to look into a recall for this situation on panoramic roofs.

While driving on a very populated interstate may car lost power and was stuck in one gear and i nearly got hit from behind by another vehicle. Mercedes told me that my conductor plate failed and this was the cause of my transmission slipping from one gear to a very low gear. In my opinion this is very dangerous for our roads and i think that they should be responsible and make this problem go away before someone or multiple people get hurt.

Takata recall- i took my vehicle into park place mercedes arlington in dallas, tx to get a diagnostic on my comand unit radio.the cd/dvd player would read the name of the disc but would not play it.an error message comes on that says disc error.i figured something on the inside may be dirty and just needs to be clean as the discs were readable by the comand unit.the service tech said that the whole unit needs to be replaced and they can't repair it.$1800 for the repair on the same exact unit. An outdated unit that doesn't even have the newest technology.i feel like mercedes vehicles are too expensive not to be able to repair their parts and having to replace everything.mercedes needs to look into their comand units and consider a recall on these radios.

The contact owns a 2007 mercedes benz s550.while driving 65 mph, the vehicle lunged forward and backwards and then stopped without warning.the engine remained running; however, the vehicle would not accelerate.as of december 20, 2007, the dealer had not inspected the vehicle.the current and failure mileages were 32,000.updated 01/17/08the consumer stated it has been determined by the electronic transmission expert there was massive internal failure, and can not determined whether there was a defective part or computer failure. Vehicle is stopped at traffic light with driver's foot on brake. Engine revs up for a moment and vehicle lurches forward. Happened at two stops at lights within a few minutes.

The contact stated that i purchased a used mercedesfrom bmw of mobile. While driving the car it loses power. I was on the interstate and it loss power.i almost had a panic attack because the car was slowing down. I had no idea what was going on. I had to make my way to the right lane to get off the road. The cars were driving 70 and 80 mph. They could have rammed into the back of my car not knowing my car was slowing down. I could have been killed driving this defective vehicle!!! i informed bmw and their technician said it was the battery and a starter. I paid $600 for the repair. They were wrong the car still loses power. I had to beg and plead with them to have mercedes of mobile diagnose the car. They said they would pay for the diagnosis but not the repairs. If i traded the car back to them they would deduct the repairs from the car. The other options were to let it go back to the finance company or take it to another dealership and not tell them what going on with the car. They paid mercedes of mobile to diagnosis it and they immediately stated the issue. I went to bmw to ask for a refund and repair but they refuse to do any about the car losing power.contacts also states that the mercedes would pay for diagnosis but not to repair. I would not recommend this dealership to anyone. They should have had this car checked out thoroughly atmercedes if they did not have the appropriate knowledge of the car. *ln *tp
