Subject the passenger side airbag explode or inflated inside:on august 30th i picked up my car from merchedisbenz dealer after serviced. I started the car and i am about to leave driving 5mph and i heared a big loud pop i didn't even leave the premises yet. The technicians even heard it. I inform the technician right away and took it for test drive and he said everythingis fine. I took it home, but i couldn't sleep with out finding what that noise is? i took it back to be checked and have been told the passenger side airbag inflated inside needs to be changed. The safety issue is here if i didn't take it back there is no way to know the airbag is not functioning or blowup inside until accident happens. Therefore, it's a safety issue. Needs to be corrected, how the driver will find out? it doesn't show anything any warning ⚠️ on the screen. It's definetly a safety issue.
The contact owns a 2008 mercedes-benz gl450. Before purchasing the vehicle, the contact noticed that the srs air bag warning indicator illuminated. The dealer was notified and claimed to have remedied the issue. After purchasing the vehicle, the failure recurred intermittently. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was scheduled for diagnostic testing. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 180,000.
Vehicle keeps losing air, steering wheel hard to turn, car leaning to right side, airbag lights keeps coming on, the car looses power when turning. During the night car will lower it self. Abs will come one, smell smoke. Was told by dealer i have leaks in the engine, had to repair suspension, and different struts and parts while during warranty and after spending thousands of dollars. I notified mbusa, and apparently this car has been having airbags and suspension issues repaired before i bought it, the previous owner has been doing the same repairs. Within a month of repairing on thing, the car starts to lean to right, make noise, leak fluids from who knows where.
Today i was shopping in a store while my teenage son waited in the car for me.he came running in the store accompanied by a witness that was in the parking lot to tell me that something on my car exploded outside.the adult witness explained that the noise was so loud and so abrasive that they thought a bomb went off.it shook the entire car.luckily nobody was hurt.what would have happened if this incident took place while i was driving the car?it has to have something to do with the air suspension.i'm having it towed to a mechanic tomorrow.i've spent lots of money fixing many things on this car.i can't wait to see how much this issue costs me (sarcasm).i've already replaced one of the airbags in the air suspension on the front driver's side.when those airbags go out, the vehicle can't be safe to drive.it starts slipping, it has difficulty stopping, it shakes aggressively when driven, yet when all that happened it didn't tell me that the car needed service.it tells me everything else constantly like tire pressure is off, a rear lamp is out, etc. But doesn't tell me that the vehicle is unsafe to drive?mercedes is supposed to be the safest car on the road, and it should be for the price they charge.however, my family certainly was not safe today when i was driving this car.it is hard to tell how long we've been in jeopardy as this part was waiting to explode.princess [xxx] in a mercedes.i have to wonder if her car had air suspension that went bad.information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).
The contact owns a 2008 mercedes benz gl450. While driving at 20 mph, the vehicle drove over a pothole and became inoperable. The compressor overheating warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to a dealer. The technician diagnosed that the front axle, hubs, and suspension were corroded and the engine was leaking. All the parts needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 92,876. Updated 09/10/15*lj
I own mercedes gl450 2008 that i bought as new. I saw that ther/f corner of the vehicle very low. Turns out that the trust airbag is leaking and both suspension/trust assembly need to be replaced.this issue can flip the car if you ran into potholes on the road.
This vehicle, and all others mercedes-benz manufactures with an automatic transmission shift selector of this type need an added safety feature to disallow a shift from the neutral position to reverse or drive unless the brake pedal is depressed.after reaching over from the exterior of the drivers side window to turn the ignition to the on position to see which headlight was not functioning (as the display message stated), a slight apparent touch upward against the shift selector (located above the key and behind the steering wheel) engaged the vehicle in the reverse position causing the vehicle to reverse at approximately 5 mph for 15 feet and come to a crashing stop against an anchored metal post and fortunately not into any other vehicles, oncoming traffic, structures, and/or another individual.i sustained a minor injury to my left forearm as i unsuccessfully attempted to reach back over while the vehicle was in the reverse motion to turn the vehicle to the off position.

I purchased a vehicle from auto world usa in bedford, ohio. I have experienced issued with the car from the day i took the car to try and get inspected in the state of pennsylvania. I was told that the brakes and tires were good to pass inspection; however when i took the car to get inspected i had to replace all 4 tires, brakes and rotors. I took the car to mercedes benz to get looked at due to the burning smell that keeps coming through the vents when the heat is on. I was told the my oil separator was leaking' that my air springs are leaking and that my rear air suspensions were bad. When i purchased the car i was offered a warranty that i was told would cover those types of repairs. Well it turns out the suspension is not covered under the warranty and i cannot get the oil separator fixed because there is a deductible (that i was not made aware of.) i have to take my car to auto world usa in ohio to get repairs done and i live in pittsburgh, pa. I was told by the warranty company that the dealership could call and they would waive the deductible. Terry dobbins at auto world, was very rude and said that she would not call the warranty after she kept expressing she was going home she just happened to answer my call. What type of company treats a customer like that? i was given falsified information on many levels and was treat like i committed a crime. Auto world usa should be investigated their sales practices are fraudulent. They have put the life of me and my children in jeopardy by selling me a car that had safety issues and it is their due diligence to make sure that the car did not have safety issues before it was sold to a consumer with an "as-is" warranty or not. Me and my kids could be seriously injured because i was sold a car with a safety hazard. Somebody else may not be fortunate enough to find out what's wrong with their car before it's to late.

I noticed a strong gas smell after a full tank of gas with my mercedes benz gl450after i received it back from the mercedes benz dealer to replace the driver side fuel sending unit to fix the broken fuel gauge.the strong gas odor was non-existent before the repair. Initially, i thought it was just a residual smell due to the repair but after a week when i filled again, the gas smell was still there. The smell is so bad especially in the morning when i get inside the garage. The smell is evident on the rear passenger side close to the gas tank. On january 11, 2016, i brought back the vehicle to the same mercedes benz dealer with a quarter of a tank to investigate the problem. After a couple of days, the service advisor told me that the technician/mechanic did the inspection and diagnosis but did not find anything wrong. I was asked if i overfill when i put gas and i said no. If mercedes benz could not find out what is wrong to an obvious problem, i don't know what's going on with the vehicle. As i have said before, this problem was non-existent before they dropped the tank to fix the fuel sending unit. I find it wrong that i have to shoulder the burden of worries and uncertainty to a safety problem that mercedes benz could not accurately diagnose. At this time, i do not really have a peace of mind safety wise whenever i drive this vehicle with my family.
Passenger door opened up itself; child almost fell off the car; happens every time until we slam the door.automatic trunk opened up itself and hit the garage. Happens every time until we manually push to close.when a/c is running; both the driver and the front passenger side window gets foggy causing 0 visibility to the side mirrors.brake pedal broke.contacted the dealer and the manufacturer many times; dealer failed to repaired and manufacturer failed to respond to various complaints filed with them.
Vehicle was parked in a parking lot. When we inserted the key in ignition; vehicle started to move forward itself. Luckily, there were not any cars in the front and we were able to stop the vehicle with foot brake.
We have taken this vehicle to the dealer service numerous time complaining some weird noise coming from the left front side of the vehicle and a bumpy ride. Left vehicle with dealer service at least 8 times for the same problem but never fixed. Right before my warranty expired in december 2012; i took it back to the dealer for the same issue and asked them to completely inspect the vehicle for any problems needing repair before the warranty expires. The dealer service found no issues and were not able to resolve the issue of bumpy ride; asked us to replace tires (we were told the same 3 times previously and we replaced tires each time but never fixed the problem) and we replace all four tires the fourth time in 4 years. Picked up the car and noticed no of the issues were resolved; and the warranty eventually expired. Took it back to the dealer for maintenance and they gave mean an estimate of around $1800 for bad left-front strut. They advised me that the vehicle was unsafe to drive. The vehicle is still at the dealer workshop.

On april 30th 2009 while driving car slipped into low gear on its own.on may 1st while pulling out of a driveway and going to make a left turn on a major road the car again slipped into low gear.ten minutes later while easing into a shopping center parking spot the car shot forward and crashed into a concrete pillar. I was driving the car and injured my wrist and my mother who was in the passenger seat injured her ankle.the air bags didn't deploy. Car was sent to authorized mercedes auto body shop repaired then sent to mercedes dealership where they checked the car and said no problems were found with the car.on july 7th while stopped at a red light at railroad tracks the light turned green i stepped on the accelerator and the car didn't move i couldn't understand what was the matter and when i looked at the gear indicator the car was in low gear which happened again on its own.also in april 2008 the vehicle front suspension system failed and mercedes replaced suspension system.

Vehicle goes on one side, dealer blames and repairs struts, same issue happen after 5 months, and dealer blames air suspension bellows. Stiff and noisy steeringmay also be related to takata recall.
I came out of the shopping maul into the parking lot, entered into the car and put it in reverse. Then l pressed the brakes to stop the vehicle and go forward, but the brakes would not stop the car. The car kept going backwards and l kept pressing the brakes without any result. The car smashed into 4 parked vehicles and still did not stop. I attempted to put it in neutral to stop it or slow it down, but finally the car started going forward and l pressed the brakes multiple times, but the car still did not respond and kept going forward and skidding and eventually smashed into a tree and stopped. L have contacted mercedes, but they are yet act. The car power steering went out 3 days before the accident and was just replaced the day before the accident. There have been several complaints with this model and recall on the power steering. I have incurred over 35,000 dollar damage to the vehicle and other vehicles and need mercedes benz to step up and figure out why the car kept accelerating despite my applying the brakes.

Within a month of repairing on thing, the car starts to lean to right, make noise, leak fluids from who knows where.
Steering wheel don't work proper way how should be. Steering wheel getting frozen when is vehicle driving.nhtsa campaign id # 08v682000
Me and my wife own a 2008 mercedes-benz gl-450. It started generated power steering problem on us since july 2017.during any driving time, when we step the brake to slow down speed, the power steer becomes very hard to turn regardless its on freeway or local street. The steer takes tremendous effort to control on lower speed and makes it specially hard to park.we took the car to a local mechanic for a check up since the warranty has expired. The power steering fluid level was fine and it might encounter a power steering pump failure according to the mechanic. Due to the mechanic's research later on, he discovered that there were a huge numbers of recall for the same power steering problems on the same model, same year of our car.with the suggestion of the mechanic, we checked the recall information on mercedes-benz official website with the vin. It came out our car is not on the recall list. Then on feb 6, 2018, i called mercedes-benz recall hot line. The person who i spoke to refused to give me any information but a "no" answer. The same day when i spoke to mercedes-benz customer service, the gentleman named "will"(if i remembered right) was very nice. He told me that he will write a report of my complaint but he was not able to guarantee me anything.we are writing to your department to find out if we still have any justifiable legal right with our vehicle.

Power steering fluid is leaking at top seal at input shaft on power steering gear. It leaks onto bottom of chassis frame and concerned about catching fire due to exhaust pipe nearby. This is noticeable when vehicle is parked overnight as it leaves puddle of fluid underneath. Power steering reservoir was also leaking and was replaced at 74,000 mi.
The contact owns a 2008 mercedes-benz gl450. The contact stated that while driving approximately 20 mph, the steering wheel seized without any warning and the power steering assist became unresponsive. The vehicle was taken to the dealer for diagnostic testing however, the dealer was unable to diagnose the failure. The contact had the dealer inspect the vehicle numerous times but to no avail. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and advised that the vehicle was not included in nhtsa campaign number: 08v682000 (steering). The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 70,000 and the current mileage was 72,000.
The contact owns a 2008 mercedes benz gl450. The contact stated that steering fluid was leaking continuously onto the ground. There was a recall associated with nhtsa campaign id number 08v682000 (steering:hydraulic power assist system); although the contact's vin was ineligible. The vehicle had not been repaired. The contact owns a 2008 mercedes benz gl450. While driving at any speed, the steering wheel failed to turn right or left. The failure recurred everytime when driving. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where it was diagnosed that the rack and pinion steering needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The contact stated that the vehicle was not included in nhtsa campaign number: 08v682000 (steering). The failure mileage was 94,000.
Power steering failure. Dealer resealed rack head assembly and replaced power steering pump.it's unclear to me how a sealed reservoir and related parts are leaking when it was designed by the manufacturer as part not subject to wear-and-tear deterioration.my research revealed nhtsa campaign id number: 08v682000 but dealer said it did not apply to my vin.
Since dec 2017 the car presented steering problems at slow speeds, loss of power and hard to turn. Took it to the dealership that informed me that there were no issues. I did find in the glove compartment a receipt from a previous owner in which they replaced the power steering components in late 2016. It seems that this is a recurring issue with the car based on the many reported instances on this website.
I have a 2008 gl450 when you make a turn you'll hear a soundand it is so hard to turn the steering wheel. I took it to a mercedes benzmechanic and they flushed and replaced the power steering fluid, the wheel worked for a couple of days and the noise is not as loud but 2 weeks laterthe steering wheel is hard to turn again and the noise is loud again.
The contact owns a 2008 mercedes benz gl450. The contact stated that the power steering malfunctioned while he was driving at 30 mph and the vehicle became uncontrollable. The vehicle crashed into a fire hydrant and the contact suffered minor injuries. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer where the power steering unit was replaced and fluids changed. The contact called the manufacturer but was offered no assistance. The current and failure mileages were approximately 54,000.
Was notified by mercedes dealership that the car had "possible steering rack control head leaking. Fluid could be spatter from reservoir leaking." i was told to "replace power steering reservoir and seal ring," which i did. Less than 20,000 miles later, the car became intermittently hard to steer. Within a short time period, the car became worse and, because it was unsafe to drive due to the unexpected inability to steer, i drove to the dealership service department without an appointment. I was told that now i needed to replace the power steering rack, and replace power steering pump and reservoir.an online search brings up hundreds of similar complaints with the 2008 (and similar years) gl450 power steering.

We were driving the car at 35 mph with a child in the left rear seat; the door suddenly opened up but did not hit any other vehicle. Took it to the dealer service for repair and they adjusted the door latch. Days later, the same happened and the door opened by itself. Airmatic suspension components continue to fail on this vehicle. Airmatic air pump was first replaced dec 2013 at 71,000mi. Front suspension air springs failed and suspension struts have both been replaced, oct 2014 at 85,000 mi. Rear suspension air springs failed and have were replaced, july 2015 at 101,600mi. Airmatic air pump was replaced again along with the suspension valve block was replaced , nov 2015 at 107,300mi. After discussion with dealership they only warrant repair for 12 mos and informed us that mercedes does not have recall or provide customer support to replace these items unless paid for by customers. Front air springs deflated during trip driving at highway speed , suspension dropped down and had to pull over. Had to drive vehicle to dealership with suspension dropped down on frame stops. Because of high cost getting repair at mercedes dealership, repairs were made by other shops as they charge higher prices for repairs.
I own mercedes gl450 2008 that i bought as new. I saw that ther/f corner of the vehicle very low. Turns out that the trust airbag is leaking and both suspension/trust assembly need to be replaced.this issue can flip the car if you ran into potholes on the road.
The airmatic suspension has failed, the truck is sitting low the air compressor blew into pieces from working to hard. This is a big problem with mercedes airmatic shocks on many different model... Please help us ,this should be a recall..i only have about 45000 miles on my truck.
Powering steering locks, suspension air struts losing air can hear when driving
The contact owns a 2008 mercedes benz gl450. While driving at 20 mph, the vehicle drove over a pothole and became inoperable. The compressor overheating warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to a dealer. The technician diagnosed that the front axle, hubs, and suspension were corroded and the engine was leaking. All the parts needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 92,876. Updated 09/10/15*lj
Left-front strut leaked causing damages.we have been complaining for 4 years that the left-front of the car was making noise;took it to the dealer for service numerous times but they were not able to fix the problem.
The contact owns a 2008 mercedes benz gl450.the contact stated that his vehicle has been stalling ever since it was purchased.he took the vehicle back to the dealer and was informed that there was no remedy for the failure.when the stalling occurs, there is no power throughout the vehicle, but it will restart seconds later.in addition to this failure, the sideview mirror is molded, the tire lug nuts are rusted, the power seat and navigation system are malfunctioning, the engine valve cover is cracked, and the compressors for the suspension system has failed.the contact has taken his vehicle back to be repaired numerous times.the failure mileage was 18,000.
I believe this is a faulty part. I had 31,000 miles on the vehicle when the front airmatic went out. Now the back is going out at 50,000 miles. The first time i took it in they said it's not if it will go out it's when. So i believe mercedes benz knows they have problems with this and we are paying for bad parts. I believe this part should be recalled because they know their is a problem.
8/30/16 replaced right front airmatic strut.suspension kept dropping. 8/1717 at times, after closing door, air escapes and suspension drops. Dealer checked codes and nothing. Suspension continues to drop when door closes. Can hear air escaping. Not every time, but 3 out of 4 times
Vehicle goes on one side, dealer blames and repairs struts, same issue happen after 5 months, and dealer blames air suspension bellows. Stiff and noisy steeringmay also be related to takata recall.

The glass on the panoramic roof is defective, broken and the glass around the hinges is breaking.

Vehicle was driven on a highway at night when we suddenly noticed no visibility on the road. Initially we thought that we turned off the headlights by mistake but it was on. Followed another vehicle's tail light to get off the freeway; pulled at a gas station and noticed both headlights were pointing downward. We took it to the dealer for service numerous time; it took them over a year to fix the headlights.
We complained to the dealer service numerous times that the car was making weird noise from the right side and the ride was very bumpy but they were not able to figure out the problem. One day i took it to discount tire for tire balance/rotation and the general manager pointed out that the from wheel was cracked badly from inside all the way to the front edge. He mentioned that the vehicle was unsafe to drive.we took this vehicle to the dealer service again and mentioned exactly what we were told by the gm of discount tire.initially mercedes dealer service refused to replace the wheel thinking that we might have hit the wheels.luckily, there was not a single scratch on any four of the wheels proving it was a bad wheel and dealer had to replace the wheel.
