Takata recallvehicle airmatic suspension failed again today driving on the highway...this is the second time this has happened. I'm fed up with mercedes!

Previously reported on complaint # 10638080, no response. Please provide update about nhtsa action # ea13003. Leaking fuel tanks. We have been overcharged for replacing defective tank, mercedes will not help with $3293.15 fee charged on thismanufacturing error. Please advise, thank you

Gas smell in the cabin of the car and outside the car -smells like a gas leak under the back seat.

After filling the fuel tank (without topping-off and without any spillage) and arriving at next destination, there is a strong gasoline odor on the driver side rear of the vehicle. This is the side opposite of the filler pipe, so it is not related to spillage during filling. The odor lasts until the tank is down to approximately 3/4. Upon inspection of the under side of the car, there is a small but noticeable wet area under the driver side rear passenger compartment. Searching the internet provides a vast number of people with 2003-2009 e class sedans (w211 body style) that have the same issue. I have provided links for review. This is a serious safety issue and should be addressed with a recall as soon as possible. Thank you for you prompt attention to this very concerning matter.http://mbworld.org/forums/w211-amg/363759-urgent-notice-03-06-e55s-were-involved-fuel-sender-recall-bombs.htmlhttp://mbworld.org/forums/e-class-w211/178514-gas-odor-04-320-a.htmlhttp://mbworld.org/forums/e-class-w211/272451-gas-odor-when-tank-full.htmlhttp://www.benzworld.org/forums/w211-e-class/1458815-gas-smell.htmlhttp://www.mbca.org/forum/gas-leak-sending-unithttp://www.mymbonline.com/forum/188-e-class-w211/51835-interior-has-fuel-smell.htmlhttp://www.faqs.org/car/mercedes-benz-e55-2005/fuel-system/

Summer of 2013,i carried the car to the dealer because there was loud smell of gas, they checked it out but said they couldn't find anything.on2 november 2014 my wife fill the tank with gas and advised me that therewas loud smell of gas. I checked it out, took the back seat up so i could see the gas tank and there was gas on top of the fuel sending unit. I went to the dealer and ask if there was a recall, they said no but they would check it out and repair it for a fee.

Very strong smell of gasoline outside the car when parked; and inside when driving or when stopped while driving slow.this happened a day after servicing the car transmission at the same dealership.took it back to dealer, they claim it's a very common issue and the car is hazardous to drive because gas leak is on top of exhaust and can start a fire. It needed $3,000 repairs (gas tank + fuel pump & sending unit.) i was driving a time bomb with my children the night before without realizing it. There should be a recall for this dangerous factory dangerous design & poor engineering quality of gas tank.

Inoticed a very strong odor of fuel in my garage.when i got in the car odor was even stronger.i looked on the floor of the garage but there was no liquid on my floor.i took the car to a local mechanic and they called the mercedes dealership and the dealer stated it was a known problem and the fuel pump leaking and would need to be replaced.when the backseat was removed there was fuel on top of the fuel tank.this fuel pump was replaced but the odor was still there.i took the car to the mercedes dealer and they kept the car for a week and explained to me the fuel tank was leaking and would need to be replaced.again he stated this was a known problem.i inquired how this would be possible that a five year old fuel tank would be leaking.i stated it sounds like a manufacture defect.the technician informed me that it was not a defect but rather the part was designed just to last hat period of time. I dispute that explanation.i received a quote to replace the tank for $1,895.

This is in reference to nhtsa action number pe12001.many owners of w211 mercedes products (e-class, model years 2003-2009) report fuel leaks and strong fuel fumes after a filling the tank.i am also experiencing this issue, with the strongest gasoline smell occurring around the driver's-side rear wheel well. This issue is reportedly with either the filler tube, the gasoline tank, or a combination of both parts. Many owners have fixed their issues by replacing both the filler tube and the tank at a cost of around $2000, or less depending on the owner's success in negotiating dealer participation in cost.i am holding off repairing this issue to see if mercedes benz initiates a recall based on nhtsa recommendations.

Strong odor of gasoline after filling gas tank to registered full level.

The contact owns a 2007 mercedes-benz e550. While fueling the tank at the service station, fuel spilled onto the ground. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where the fuel container was replaced.the manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 50,000.updated 04/22/16*ljthe consumer stated no replacement part was provided.

1/9/2013 i took the car in for the check engine light. They found there was a gas seal leak and they replaced the gas cap. On 7/30/2013 i took my car in for the check engine light. There was a gas tank leak. They had to replace the gas tank. Please feel free to contact me for documentation or further information necessary to be included in the recall or class action for this issue...update 04-10-14

When filling the gas tank all the way and stopping the delivery of fuel after the first click there is a strong smell of gasoline when the car is parked (almost like a leak).the smell goes away after the fuel drops below 3/4 of a tank.this happens every time.

The 2007 mercedes e550 emits a very strong gas odor. It smells like gas vapor and not burnt motor oils. The smell appeared shortly after i refueled the gas tank. I drove the car to a shopping center, and i could smell the gas both inside and outside. After leaving the car in the garage, the garage now also smells like gas.

When i fill the gas tank up to the top with fuel, there is a strong oder of gas coming from the car. It doesn't go away until the tank is about 3/4 full after driving. I took it to the dealer, they said they fixed it, but they did not. I think mercedes is aware of this issue yet refuses to do a recall. There are 100's of other complaints about this problem online from other e-class owners.

After filling up my fuel tank completely full, i found that after having my car in the garage for a few hours it had a noticeable odor of gasoline both in the garage and inside the vehicle. This has occurred since my ownership of the vehicle began in march 2012 and is still an issue one year later. Upon further research recently on mbworld.org, i found out that this was due to a faulty "fuel sender" assembly that was causing gasoline to leak and possibly pool on top of the tank. While there are no visible leaks, i am quite concerned about the gasoline vapors, as this is a known issue on the w211 vehicle and mercedes-benz has thus far refused to pay for any repairs to make my vehicle safe again.

Strong gas vapors and possible fuel leakage. Gas vapors are really strong when vehicle is parked in garage immediately. The gas vapors can be smelled while driving causing the fumes to be inhaled and dizziness.this can not be safe.

Every time car is filled with gas, there is an overpowering gas smell in the car and the garage. Took vehicle to local mercedes benz dealership. Dealership found fuel tank leaking from top of fuel tank above sender. Charged my father $3,293.15 for repair. This is obviously a manufacturers defect.

Car smells like gas inside and out until about half a tank after reviewing mercedes benz forms in the benz world website it is a very common problem with the e500 and e550 in the years between 2005 and 2008 vehicles there are numerous complaints about it and not sure when it started i've just recently purchased the vehicle but the previous owner previous owner mentioned it to me as well i didn't thank to much about it till the smell has gotten so bad that the windows have to be rolled down to be able to breathe in the vehicle

Purchased vehicle nov 2012, filled car up for the first time 3/20/13 for out of town trip. Noticed very strong gas odor in back seat. Did not re-fill while out of town due to possible leaking fuel sending unit and/or gas tank.

After filling up the fuel tank there is a strong odor of gasoline. I smells inside and outside of the car until the car reaches three quarters of a tank or less. I have read in the mercedes benz forums that alot of people are having problems with this! i am driving a ticking time bomb.

There is a strong gasoline smell every time i fill my mercedes. The car has only 16,500 miles. I have seen numerous cases of this online and am concerned about storing it in my garage.

I just noticed a very potent gas odor on the rear both right and left side of the car. There are no leaks on the garage floor or my driveway. I know there was a recall for the 2003-2006 e-class, but was there one for 2007-2009 models as well? i just noticed it today and i am the 2nd owner of the vehicle, car has about 78k on the odometer.

After refueling, an gasoline order would occur. Had to replace fuel bowls under back seat at a cost of over $1000.00. Serious problem as gas was leaking from the two bowls under the back seat.

The contact owns a 2007 mercedes benz e550. While parked, the contact noticed a strong gasoline fuel smell after refueling the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to the dealer for diagnostic testing. The technician stated that the fuel tank seals would have to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired however, the contact noticed a fuel leak after the repairs were completed. The vehicle was not further repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 70,000.

Smell strong gasoline every i fill up the gas tank.

Strong fuel odor smell outside the car when car park inside the garage specially when the fuel tank is full.

Strong smell of gas inside the car when fueled.was told today that there is a bolt threaded into the top of the gas tank, and gas is leaking from it.cost of repair is $2200. Car has never been rear ended.can't get an answer from dealer as to how this happened.

I have had two earlier attempts in 2011 to fix a strong gasoline smell from my mercedes benz e550 2007 did not fully resolve the problem. Finally, in october of 2012 (approx. 10/10/12) mercedes benz did replace under warranty the entire gasoline tank and related lines and connection. This did resolve the problem of gasoline smell in my garage after gasoline tank fill-up. No gas leaks ever noticed or fire ever occur. Thanks very much for your efforts to inform and protect consumers of mercedes benz e550 2007.

Gas leaking from rear area of vehicle; strong fuel odor after refueling.

After filling the car up full tank you can smell strong odor of gasoline coming from the car.

Strong odor of gasoline after refueling. Strong odor fills garage & doors must be left open.

I wish to report an issue with the air-matic suspension on my 2007 mercedes benz e550.i had the air struts replaced a few years ago with mercedes benz parts at the dealership and have driven approximately 16,000 miles since replacement without accident.the car has 36,000 miles currently and is driven exclusively in town, on paved roads, and garaged at home.on september 25, 2018 the strut on the front left (driver side) catastrophically failed causing the car to pull hard to the right as the front left dropped violently.i have contacted mercedes benz usa to report this issue for their investigation.my current information is the strut experienced an internal failure as reported by the mechanic, but would need further investigation to determine exact root cause.my concern is that this part failed suddenly without warning and if i were not traveling at a low rate of speed (approximately 30 mph), the outcome could have been far worse.i feel that given the low miles, newness of the part, and sudden failure, this could be an indication of a more serious issue with manufacture of this component and should be further investigated.

Takata recallvehicle airmatic suspension failed again today driving on the highway...this is the second time this has happened. I'm fed up with mercedes!

Purchased car in august 2007, have driven 40,000 miles and have replaced 2 stock rims, 6 after-market rims and five relatively new tires due to just average potholes that any other car would simply roll over.part of the problem is the low profile tires but there appears to be a deeper problem with the suspension.when this car hits a small pothole or even a deep manhole cover it takes a very hard, teeth jarring hit to the front end suspension.i also drive a competing brand 8-cylinder sedan which is very near to this mercedes in size and weight but hardly feel the bumps that pound the mercedes.

Hit a small pot hole and dented the tire rim and flattened my tire. This the4th rim and 4th tire replaced since march of 2008. Replaced the rims and tires at approximately $1000/rimtire. These low profile tires/rims should not be sold.
