I have been given a recall notice that my passenger side air bag is potentially dangerous and could explode killing a passenger, but i have been told by mercedes that the part to fix will not be available until at least march of 2019. It is outrageous that i am unable to safely take a passenger in my car for a year and also have no way of selling the car since it is under such a serious recall. What can be done about this?
Takata recall. Received notice on 2/18/19, and mercedes informs me that replacement air bag will not be available until may 2020. Given that the air bag failure may result in serious injury or death, mercedes should replace it asap, or disconnect the power to the air bag.

Jan 18,2019manufacturer recall number2019010001nhtsa recall number19v010recall statusrecall incomplete, remedy not yet availablemercedes benz alerted me of the problem 2 years ago and has done nothing to resolve the issue nor provided the timing to do so. I own a luxury, very expensive model. Per the recall, the faulty air bag is dangerous. It stated that:' under certain circumstances during a crash that necessitates frontal airbag deployment, the defect in your passenger-side frontal airbag inflator may cause the inflator to explode. A passenger-side inflator explosion during deployment could result in metal fragments striking the front passenger or other occupants, possibly causing serious injury or death.' i do not feel safe driving my car. This is a major problem and it is their obligation to correct a defect that is a major safety issue.safety risk: according to takata, in the event of an inflator explosion, metal fragments could pass through the air bag cushion material, which may result in injury or death to vehicle occupants.remedy: an authorized mercedes-benz dealer will replace the passenger-side airbag.please advise how i can resolve this issue and have the necessary repair completed now. I cannot wai any longer, other wise, i will seek legal damages. I would prefer a faster way to resolve this rather than going to court.

Takata recall" the recall on my air bag has been going on since jan 2019 and the part still isn't in. It says if the airbags deploy, metal fragments can fly out and kill the person, this is serious business and should be taken care of asap! it didn't happen yet but i want a push to get this recall completed before someone gets hurt.
Takata recall - manufacturer has stonewalled and slow walked a resolution to replacement of the potentially deadly and dangerous takata airbags. Consequently, i do not allow my wife and family to drive this car fearful of the implications of airbag deployment. The car basically sits in my garage and has low miles. Mercedes communicated a solution in february 2018 via the attached correspondence but has failed to remedy the issue. I'm stuck with this car since its trade-in value is negatively affected until the airbag is replaced.

Takata recall- my recall for an important airbag safety has been recalled last feb 2018. It's now feb 2019, 1 year later and there is no remedy. Im very concerned about the safety of driving my car with a defective airbag. I pay for the quality of a benz car, so to still have my airbag recall pending is very dis-heartening.
Open recall without a remedy. This is a daily safety hazard as i am forced to operate my vehicle without a remedy. Being my car is a coupe provides another inconvenience. Even if i place passangervinto back seat, the recall states that any occupant could experience death or serious injury if the air bag deploys. I am uncomfortable driving my vehicle with no solution. This is unacceptable.
Takata recall.received a recall letter from mb in february 2018 regarding this "safety recall". As of today no action has been taken and they are reporting a remedy is not available.how dangerous is this?

According to takata, in the event of an inflator explosion, metal fragments could pass through the air bag cushion material, which may result in injury or death to vehicle occupants. This has been going on for a year!!!! every time i log in to see if the remedy is available it says no. This is a death risk and law suit waiting to happen.
I've been told for over 2 years now that mercedes was going to replace these takata airbags. It was supposed to be done no later than may 2020. Still nothing nor any follow up from mercedes.

I was told my battery did not pass medtronics testing during scheduled maintenance service but i chose not to replace battery at that time, exactly 1 week later my car does not start while out running errands. I try to jump start vehicle and still unable to start it...i have it towed to the dealership it was at 1 week prior. They replace battery at $425 then tell me that my car still won't start. They run other diagnostic tests and tell me that my key is not recognizing the steering wheel; that the steering wheel lock module needs to be replaced at a cost of $1409. My car is still under warranty although, but i am being told that this steering lock issue is not covered under warranty.

Good day! i got my car june 2, 2013 with 12 miles on it. If i start my car, there is a 3-4 seconds of knocking sound. It does happen randomly (warm or cold engine), not all the time. The dealer said it was the injectors. Some people are having there my2012/13mercedes e350 engine rebuilt (connecting rods, pistons, wrist pins), my engine is the new direct injection. Li03.10-p-054702 is the mercedes memo or tsb? it would be a let down knowing my car will eventually have an engine rebuild also low resale value. I think this is defect complaint though. I need your help or if you can direct me to maybe consumer protection. Thank you and keep in touch.

I am reporting a finding on my engine (m276) that is the same related to other mercedes engine models m272 and m273.recently, i discovered oil in all four (4) engine camshaft solenoid (p/n 276-156-07-90) connectors and the wire harness plug.this is the same problem as described in mercedes benz campaign no. 2012070002, dated september 2012.there should not be any migration of oil beyond the housing of the camshaft solenoid.this is a design defect and the safety concern is that if left uncorrected can cause stoppage of the engine.

A summary of the may 9, 2021, event follows: 6:30 a.m: i woke up, put on gym clothes and shoes and drove to gym (1 mile from home). 7:01:40 a.m. Turned into the gym parking lot and slowly inched into a parking space. (my mercedes rides low in the front so i pull in slowly so the block will not scrape my bumper). 7:02:00 a.m. As i pull slowly into the parking space the car stalls and the engine begins revving very loud. I firmly press my right foot (foot was already on the brake as i was inching into the space) on the brake because the car is still making that revving sound.7:02:15 a.m. The car is at a complete stop for some time.the engine begins revving even louder and surges forward (foot was still on the brake) four feet. The car hits the brick gym building and comes to a standstill.i turn off the engine and sit there stunned. ( a witness signed a statement and said "car was at a complete stop for some time...thought driver would open her door and get out but then the car suddenly surged forward and hit the building"). After getting out of my car and inspecting the wrecked car, i notice the gas cap is open and i shut it. The police show up, and say "no police report" will be made. I have some injuries (concussion, bruises over full torso and legs) but i treat patients with tbis so self-diagnosed and treated my injuries without seeking additional medical attention.on may 9, 2021, i call csaa and report the accident.after several conversations with csaa claims advisor karl arnold, it appears the car frame is damaged, and repair costs exceed value of car. The building had no damage.i then attempted to access relevant data on the edr and was misled by the mercedes fairfield dealership, service unit. I was told by josh ā€the data is irretrievable, and you canā€™t get itā€¯.i asked why would congress pass the edr in to law making edrs mandatory and data belongs to owner, if it is not retrievable?he had no answer.[xxx]parts of this document have been redacted to protect personally identifiable info
Car: 2013 mercedes-benz e-350 4-door v6 sedan with sports package, 28,000 miles.incident: vehicle was accelerating from 25 mph on ramp to enter freeway. Before reaching freeway speed of 65 mph, car began to make loud noises from the front and vibrate violently. Accelerating made it worse. At 35-40 mph, driver decided to ease back to 25-30, turn on hazard lights, and take next exit. Car was towed to mercedes-benz dealership for diagnosis and servicing.diagnosis from dealership: "car has a bad cylinder head that needs to be replaced. Cylinder head #3 is the bad one. This is also causing the misfiring of cylinder #1 and #2."service request: "r/s cylinder head complete coolant gaskets est hole job parts". Over $11,000 parts and labor.comments: car had very recently been serviced as per recommended maintenance schedule by same dealership. Even though i am second owner and bought car from a toyota dealership, mbusa confirmed that the car had been serviced as per schedule from the beginning, and there was no history of mechanical failure. Third-party mechanics have never heard of a 2013 mb e-class with only 28,000 miles suffering from this kind of engine problem unless it missed servicing along the way.
The car stop inoperative and stop by itself without any control no matter on freeway in local, even in garage. It happened 3 times within a week. After checking, dealer think it is not a big problem, they only update the software of cpu,and told me it won't happened again. At the same day of picking up the car, the same problem happened on freeway. The car suddenly stopped, and i couldn't control anything. I was almost hit by a ups commercial truck and dead on that day. The car was towing to dealer for repairing again. They don't know what the exactly problem is. They are going to change the whole cpu this time. Now the car is still in dealer's repair place. I called the local customer service for filing a lemon car. The guy told me it was not necessary to file because the car was only repaired twice. Obviously,it is very serious safety problem!i am afraid to drive the car again. I am so young i don't want to die only because i drivemercedes-benz.

"takata recall"on numerous occasions when i travel back home from work (driving 85+miles), i hear this bubbling sound coming from the engine. I took it to the dealer but they couldn't duplicate the problem. I told them to drive on the freeway at high speed and then park the car and turn off and you should hear the sound. It sounds as tho something is boiling. Dealer claim they couldn't duplicate the problem but i'm afraid that one day something will burst and i get sculled.
The vehicle just caught on fire which looks like it started somewhere in the engine while being parked.
I have shown the car to dealer and they say i have ppay $4000 for repalcement of chain tensioner. The same time for second openion i showed the car to another expert, they say that if the tensioner was bad engine light will apear and car will not run. The car does have 100000 miles power train warranty and my car services at dealership since i bought it.when i start the vehicle it sound like some parts sound hitting body of engine. Also they say that this car come with hydrolic pump pushes oil to top of engine may be the problem. But they want to charge me $4000.

While using the adaptive cruise system (distronic plus) on an open section of interstate highway the system will act as though it detects cars where there are none.sometimes this will result in a slight slowing down of the car without the braking warning signal, but sometimes the braking warning signal will come on and is followed by aggressive braking for no apparent reason.this has happened several times where the system falsely detects the need to decelerate on its own when there is nothing in the road to cause it.
Pre-safe inoperative warning message comes on at random times. Iā€™ve taken the vehicle in to address this issue, but mercedes claims they did not see the message, and there are no error codes. I purchased this vehicle because it comes with this safety feature - i find it unacceptable that it does not function.

I noticed the smell of gas in the garage whenever the car was parked in the garage.the mercedes dealer determined that the right side fuel sending unit was leaking gas.the vehicle has a metal gas tank and the fuel sending unit is built into the gas tank and therefore the entire gas tank had to be replaced at a cost of $4209.65.
Fuel leaking from right rear area - when car is filled up - i stopped when pump clicked off - did not overfill - you had a extension of warranty on mercedes up to 2009but this 2013 has the same problem its under the rear seat passenger side - right where a car seat would be for a kid - someone is going to get killed by this. This should be a mandatory safety recall !! 2013 should be included in the extention big problemwe bought this car used and 1st time we filled it up
I smell gas in the garage after i fill up my vehicle. I do not over-fill the tank, i remove the gas filler nozzle when it turns off automatically. I feel this is an unsafe condition. I have not yet taken the vehicle to a dealer to investigate this problem. According to my research, this vehicle model has a history of this same complaint in earlier models and was repaired by the dealers no charge through model years 2009. The condition has obviously not been remedied after this defect was discovered.

Driving on the highway heading home, i hear something pull a loose and a sizzling sound. Pulled over to check tires, they were ok. Pulled back onto the highway and heard loud sounds of metal as though everything under my car was breaking apart. Pull over again put the car in park and the noise stopped. Opened door and notice smoke (thought to be fluids) and felt heat on the floor board. Open door again and saw fire.

I took my car in for its annual service on january 21, 2021, and was told that the rear subframe and brake lines were so badly rusted that the car was unsafe to drive.the entire subframe and rear left and right brake lines had to be replaced at a cost of $5,300 (mercedes benz usa gave me a "good will" discount so i paid less than that amount).i am the original owner of this vehicle and i take meticulous care of it.it is parked in a garage, receives every recommended maintenance check at the same mechanic (euro motorcars bethesda, md) and has low mileage for its age.only one year and 7,000 miles had elapsed between the car's last service and the discovery of the corrosion.in other words, in just one year the subframe of the car corroded to the extent that it was so unsafe to drive that according to the mechanic i am lucky that i did not get into an accident.i have owned many cars throughout my life for upwards of 10 years and none of them have had rust corrosionissues.i have to believe that there was something defective with the materials mercedes benz used on this vehicle's subframe.the nhtsa database shows that another person with the same vehicle (who coincidentally seems to have purchased his car at the same dealership where i purchased mine - euro motorcars bethesda) also filed a complaint for the exact same issue.how many other owners have had this problem but don't know that they can file a safety complaint with the nhtsa?the mechanic took a short video of the corrosion that i am not attaching to this complaint;please contact me if you would like me to send it.
I have a model year 2013 mercedes e350 that has a safety defect with rusted brake lines that should be investigated by your agency. During a recent visit to the mercedes dealer (euromotorcars in bethesda, maryland), i was informed that my car has severely rusted brake lines that need to be replaced immediately at a cost of about $3300.i subsequently had my car inspected by an independent repair shop (star car auto service in rockville, maryland) that confirmed the dealer's diagnosis that the brake lines are rusted and need to be replace.the service advisor at the dealership told me he has seen this issue on many cars like mine.as a retired senior, i have owed numerous vehicles (one car i owned for over thirty years) and never had to have the brake lines replaced on any of my cars.having to replace the brake line on a seven year old car with only 37,000 miles is not acceptable by any standard and should be investigated by your agency.i have attached the estimate from the dealer and pictures taken by the dealer of the rusted brake lines.i am concerned for my family's safety and for others on the road as a brake line failure could cause a serious accident resulting in injury or death.please look into this serious issue of rusting brake lines on my 2013 mercedes e350.

My car is still under warranty although, but i am being told that this steering lock issue is not covered under warranty.
The electric steering column adjustment to move steering wheel up and/or down (tilt feature) has becomes inoperable (the telescopic adjustment feature still works). This makes proper steering wheel and air bag location impossible. It was first noticed upon starting the car at work that the steering wheel remained in the up position (entry/exit). This apparently is a known and common problem that impacts multiple models and model years. My friend's 2013 c250 also had this problem, but was repaired under a recall / tsb. The broken part is inexpensive, but the labor requires removal of the lower driver's dash components, which can be costly.

I purchased the car (certified pre-owned) on december 18, 2014. On february 13, 2015 i was parking in a restaurant parking lot.all of a sudden i felt the crash.at first i thought a vehicle had run into the back of my car. However, it turned out my vehicle had rolled backwards into another car.i had just pulled into the parking spot (which was on a slight incline) and was about to put it in park when this occurred.i accepted responsibility for the damage to my car and the other car involved and filed with my insurance.once i had my vehicle back, i noticed that when i was stopped at a red light it felt as though the car was moving backwards.i then tested the car on a slight incline (5-10 degrees) and while in drive.it rolled backwards and continued to roll until i slammed on the brake.this car is an automatic.i have never heard of an automatic rolling backwards while in the drive position - especially on a very slight incline.i called the dealership and was told this was "normal".

Despite all attempts, i am unable to get mercedes-benz usa to share the ground clearance specification for my vehicle. My car has 145,000 miles. I need to replace front shocks/struts. I need the ground clearance spec in order to determine whether to replace front springs at the same time. Ground clearance is commonly published as part of technical specifications for all other cars. This is the first car i have owned for which the ground clearance specification is neither published nor available through other means from the manufacturer. Mbusa first directed me to the local dealer but the dealer couldn't find the spec. Then they said that they did not have access to this specification and they couldn't help. Next, i reached out to the mercedes customer assistance center in europe. But they couldn't find the specification either. Finally, i received a phone call from mercedes-benz usa customer assistance center. They gave me a ground clearance specification that is far lower than the clearance on my car. For high-mileage cars, the ground clearance should be lower than spec, not higher. When i stated this, they gave me a different higher number. Bottomline - unless i have the true ground clearance specification for my car, i can't determine whether my car's suspension is in good health. A tired, sagging, suspension could lead to safety issues. On a related note, mercedes-benz has zero stock worldwide for the front springs for my 2013 vehicle. This is unacceptable for a car that is only 6 years old.

Pre-safe inoperative warning message comes on at random times. Iā€™ve taken the vehicle in to address this issue, but mercedes claims they did not see the message, and there are no error codes. While parallel parking in front of a small restaurant in a large north texas city the vehicle quickly accelerated backwards at a high speed backwards, climbing over a sidewalk curb an then climbed over a nearly 3 foot high retaining wall. The rear end of the car rested on top of the retaining wall.if the retaining wall between the side walk and the restaurant had not stopped the vehicle it would have likely continued to pick up speed and gone through the restaurant. The panoramic sunroof exploded outward. When it occurred the sound was like someone fired a shotgun next to my head. I was driving northbound on i-25 just south of denver. Had the fabric sunshade not been extended forward so it contained the glass the occupants in the car would have been showered with the sharp shards, which were so sharp the pieces that flew back on the back window and trunk lid left deep scratches on those surfaces. Not sure how much glass was thrown up into the air and impacted traffic behind the car. Think about a motorcycle rider being hit by these flying shards of glass. After the incident i looked on line and found the following link, which details another incident in 2012 that seems to be exactly what i experienced on june 1. Http://www.benzworld.org/forums/w251-r-class/1652488-exploding-sunroof.html<http://www.benzworld.org/forums/w251-r-class/1652488-exploding-sunroof.htmla representative of the mercedes dealership where the car was purchased also confirmed over the phone that the same thing had happened to their service manager while driving a car with a panoramic sunroof. This is not a safe situation with these cars and i hope you'll seriously look into this. Notwithstanding any injuries that may occur from such an incident, the explosive nature of this type of failure could very easily cause a driver to panic and/or be distracted enough to have an accident in traffic. I won't feel safe driving this car now that i am aware of what can happen with this panoramic sunroof over my head. If you'd like to see photos of the damage, i would be happy to e-mail those to you. Tire blew out for no apparent reason.this is the fourth time it has happened since i have owned this vehicle.
The component that failed was the front passenger wheel. The safety of others were not affected, however, because of the nature of the incident, the vehicle had to come to a stop in the middle of the highway and then the driver, my husband, was able to pull the car over to the shoulder. My husband originally thought he had a flat because the car was hard to steer, but upon further investigation after removing the front passenger tire/wheel, he noticed that the wheel had a large crack that had broken away from part of the tire. No warning indicator lights appeared on the dashboard before or during the incident.
Suspension issues, i just placed 4 new tires on my car in june of 2018. On dec 28, 2019 my car felt as if someone was unscrewing all of my wheels off and i spent out losing control of the vehicle.i am unable to get mercedes-benz usa to share ground clearance specification for my vehicle. My car has 100.000 miles. Mbusadirected me to the local dealer but the dealer couldn't find the spec. I was told i would receive a call back and never did. I googled info regarding my issues and saw this site and was like wow.
I first had a tire blow-up in a minor pothole. Got it repaired at the dealership. However, recently i hit another minor pothole in new jersey, and this time, the rim of the wheel cracked! this time i was on the highway with my child in the car seat, and could have gotten into a major accident. I do not think the so called "high performance" wheels are meant for the us roads. The material seems sub-standard. I have complained to mercedes, but the rep did not seem to care or show any concern. I have kept the damaged rim with me if you'd like to see. Sending pictures also. Thanks.

The contact owns a 2013 mercedes benz e350. While driving 70 mph, the rims would come out of shape and deform. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the rims failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 8,000.
