Takata recall.i was issued a takata recall for defective airbags december 2017 stating that "the defect in your driver, passenger, or both driver and passenger frontal airbag inflators may cause the airbag to explode during airbag deployment and could result in metal fragments striking the front occupants, possibly causing serious injury or death."the recall notice states that replacement parts are expected to be available by december 31, 2018.as of today february 17, 2018, over 1 year later, the nhtsa website says "recall incomplete, remedy not yet available."this is completely unacceptable.i bought a mercedes with the impression that mercedes stands behind its high safety rating and crash test rating.if the airbag causes serious injury or death upon deployment in a crash, then the high safety rating is irrelevant.i have been driving this car around for more than 1 year risking possible injury or death because this matter has not been resolved yet. There needs to be some recourse.mercedes should stand behind its products and compensate its loyal clients if it cannot resolve this issue within a timely manner.in my opinion, over 1 year and counting is not considered a timely manner.

The key in the electronic ignition switch is not recognized causing the car to suddenly throw itself into park while the vehicle is still in motion, at speeds as high as 6 mph, per service bulletin #li54.25-p-056472. The issue is intermittent and unpredictable and puts the driver at great risk of an accident because the car stops violently and without warning to the cars behind. The car can be put back into drive and as soon as you start driving again, it will immediately throw itself back into park, which sometimes happens over and over again. This has put me in the position of having entered an intersection only to have my car stop in the middle of the intersection. I've been nearly hit from behind or side several times due to the unexpected and sudden stop my car made when this happened. Despite reporting the tsb to the mercedes dealership, they would not cover the out of warranty repair because they said it's "only a service bulletin and not a safety recall." this is very clearly a safety issue and there are hundreds if not thousands of drivers and cars affected based on internet searches of mb and auto forums.
I started my car and it made a big loud noise from engine then i start getting all messages on screen that every things not inoperable. Even the gear shift was locked and the more i kept the car on the more noise was making. Its like i am pushing hard on gas panel.
50% of the time car is placed in reverse back up camerascreen has no picture just a black screen. Mercedes benz of austin ran diagnostics but could not find a problem. I am aware that there is a recall for earlier models on the back up camera but recall does not include 2012 e350. Problem started about 2 years or so ago. It is an intermittent problem starting about 2 years ago and has been ongoing.
My 2012 mercedes e350 has oil contamination of the wiring harness. The oil has also damaged other components in the engine compartment including oxygen sensors; probes and ecu(computer)this is very expensive damage.mercedes-benz had had recall for this problem in the past but the recall did not extend to the 2012 model year.they need to do another recall for this ongoing problem.this is a major safety hazard, as the car could stall in traffic without warning
The contact owns a 2012 mercedes benz e350. The contact stated that the wiring harness in the trunk of the vehicle was defective.the defect caused the trunk lid to not open. The vehicle was taken to mercedes benz of ann arbor (570 auto mall dr, ann arbor, mi 4810 where it was determined that the wiring harness needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. 1. Backup camera will periodically display a blank screen when shifted into reverse. System has to be shutdown and restarted to get the camera to work again. Tends to happen on rainy days when camera most needed. No accident has occurred as a result to date. Date of last occurrence is an approximation. 2.distronic plus system (adaptive cruise) will disengage unexpectedly when coming to a stop in traffic or if in stop and go traffic. The system beeps once and a red light flashes, but this is easily missed if radio is playing or driver is distracted. This has almost caused several roll forward rear-end collisions, prevented only by quick driver intervention. Neither issue has been addressed with the dealer since the vehicle is out of warranty.
The cam solenoid sensors are picking up oil, then it is being disbursed in to the electrical systems of the vehicle. I attempted to start the car and it would not crank. I called mercedes service and they sent service to jumpstart the car. The car finally started. As i began to drive, a warning light stating "power steering malfunction - check owners manual" came on. With considerable difficult, i avoided the curb in the parking lot and managed to get the car to a parking space. The "power steering malfunction" indicator would not come off even after turning the car off and on again. The car became undrivable.

The car shuts off randomly at stop lights. I cannot tell it is off until we are a green light and then i have to start the car. Cars behind me have almost hit me
The contact owns a 2012 mercedes benz e350. While the vehicle was parked and the key was removed from the ignition, the vehicle jerked and rolled backwards before stopping independently. In addition, the contact heard an abnormal noise and the vehicle veered to the left when reversing. The dealer was unable to diagnose the failure but made the following repairs: the cover on the front passenger side cylinder head, removed/installed a seal, non-return valve, chain tensioner, sealant mb, flange gasket, hexalobular bolt, the cover on the front driver side cylinder head, removed/installed a seal, left and right secondary drive chain tensioners, front cover cylinder, and the check valve. On another occasion, the vehicle rolled in reverse and crashed into the bumper of another vehicle. The door of the vehicle bruised the contact and medical attention was required. The vehicle was towed to the dealer. A police report was not filed. The dealer was not able to diagnose the failure and the vehicle remained at the dealer. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 5,597.
While driving on an express way in dallas, texas my gps made an error concerning an exitand i was required to divert quickly to the left to make exit lane .time was 6:00 pm ,heavy traffic conditions and road and weather conditions were excellent and dry. My mercedes pre activated a skid mode and there was approximately a 70% cut back in engine power .a yellow engine light came on and skid mode came on operator screen but there was no skidding taking place. I was helpless with no power to keep up with the 50-60 mph traffic while trying to get into lane .consequently a semi tractor struck my left rear fender /bumper causingdamage to my mercedes. There was no damage to the tractor. According to mercedes the vehicle was supposed to do this asa safety feature. If this is true then they actually in my opinion while developing safety features created another un safe condition where as the semi could have run over my wife and i killing us both. This was truly a near miss and we are very much concerned about it happening again to us or some one else, resulting in a fatal accident, not just a fender bender. Mercedes is in denial concerning any un safe condition and refused to take any responsibility for any damage that this car caused. Please review this vehiclefor possible call back before some one does get seriously injured. Perhaps skid mode or traction control may be helpful but engine cut back and power loss needs to be left to the operator not the vehicle controllingit's self. Your help would be graciously appreciated.

The vehicle was taken to mercedes-benz of sacramento (1810 howe ave, sacramento, ca 95825) where the vehicle was diagnosed with a defective o2 sensor. The contact stated that before agreeing to the repair, he requested that the mechanic inspect the camshaft sensor for a possible link to the failure. The contact was informed that failure had in fact started with the defective camshaft sensor and spread to the o2 sensors and wiring harness. The contact was then given an estimate for the repairs. The manufacturer had been notified of failure and offered financial assistance for the repair but offered no additional assistance. The repair was still pending. The failure mileage was 87,000.
2012 e350 coupe. Car was making an odd "clunking" noise when started, but would fade or idle out after a couple of seconds. Took it into mb service today and was just informed that my car has a camshaft problem and it's wearing on the right cylinder head. Service rep says they have seen several cars come in with the same issue. Repairs cost $9,000! seems like an engineering/mechanical defect as i was told there was nothing i could have done to prevent this issue.
When starting the vehicle has a slow start.when in motion the vehicle drives rough, and cuts off, then the check engine light came on.this vehicle has a great maintenance record only serviced at the mercedes dealer and has 0nly 54000 miles.this is clearly an engineering issue which was a safety issue.mercedes repaired.they found the camshaft damaged, head damaged, and gear damaged and replaced camshaft and gear only.they charged my for their engineering failures $4874.38. For this engineering and safety faikure i believe this vehicle should be recalled before the lost health and life is lost, and owners should be recompense for the damage.

Gasoline smell in cabin as well as garage when refueling with visible gasoline on top of tank.
Mercedes e350 2dr cabrio with 50,000 miles has strong fuel odor on drivers side.mercedes mechanic found leak from left side of fuel tank w/ fuel cover cracked and leaking. Well maintained, single owner car. Mercedes has recalled earlier models with same issue but has not yet recalled this model.dangerous safety issue.strong fuel order smell inside car compartment and while outside divers side.likely fire risk.needs to be addressed asap.
My vehicle is emitting a very strong fuel smell and possible leak coming from the fuel pump. This is located under the rear seat, which had a recall. I believe that the item is faulty and should replaced once again.i reached out to the dealership and to mb corp; but they do not want to take responsibility for their faulty design and product.the vehicle is not safe to drive with the strong vapors, which are dangerous to health. Also, i am forced to leave the vehicle outside of the garage because of my fear that this will cause a fire or explosion, resulting in massive house destruction and possible death.
Takata recall: dealers indicate they do not have parts. I want to sell my car but can not.
Smelled gas fumes around sides of vehicle.repair facility found fuel leak around the fuel filter with subsequent repair.

Fuel smell while car was parked in garage.condition got worse over a few weeks until fuel could be smelled while driving.took in for repair.fuel filter was found to be leaking on drivers side.

Vehicle stops accelerating while driving.this has happened 4 times.at all other times, vehicle drives normally.problem has occurred when accelerating after vehicle brakes have been applied to slow down.this is an automatic transmission and it seems that the car is not down shifting or the auto clutch is not engaging to allow down shift while accelerating.it drives like it's in 4th gear when it should be in 1st or 2nd gear if it were a manual transmission. There is a grinding sound as ifthe clutch was not pushed in fully while shifting if it were a manual transmission.at this point the car will only go about 10-15 mph until engine is turned off.when car is restarted, it runs normally.no check engine light comes on.dealership states no fault codes were stored and they can not fix it unless they have a fault code or see it happen.they did road test it, but it didn't happen while they had the car.they did update the software to the transmission and hope that might fix the problem. I think this is a safety issue, because it happens without warning intermittently.i asked that they call the car engineers and ask what 3 -5 parts or sensors could be causing the problem and check to see if they are working properly, but they said no.they want me to try to drive to the dealership when it happens (not possible, no acceleration) or call for service and leave the car running until someone can get there to identify the problem.if a car or truck were coming up behind me or i was trying to merge onto a highway and this problem happened, i would not be able to accelerate and get out of the way.

The interior dash vents (shiny items) are reflected unto the side mirrors making it dangerous when changing lanes because one cannot be sure what one is seeing in those lanes because the reflection is very pronounce.these vents and other dash items are also reflected on the windshield, almost like an obstruction when one is driving.in addition, the adjustable front seats, are so uncomfortable that one is constantly adjustingthe seat setting while driving.these issues can cause quite a distraction and are obviously dangerous.when we reported these items to the dealership, mbcharlotte, and mbusa, they took no action.if there was ever an accident with this vehicle, and the cause and effect was related to these issues as contributing factors, how can one ever prove that they caused the accident or contributed to the cause.one would need a whole lot of experts to show that the manufacturer build in the problem by not addressing it, or testing for the effect that these issues cause the driver('s). One of the dealers product expert, solution to the reflection problem was to roll down the windows when driving to get rid of the reflections. The individual who sold us the car, [xxx],tells me, now, that he notices this reflection on all these cars.the dealership is indifferent about these items brought to their attention.even though they, in our eyes, are safety issues.hopefully nhtsa can look into this and can do something to resolve it.information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).

I have a 2012 mercedes benz e 350 that i purchased in buffalo, ny. My vehicle has about 75,000 miles on it. My vehicle is registered in michigan and a usa vehicle.i am currently working on an assignment in canada.on march 5, 2019, i went to drive the vehicle from my hotel parking lot in ottawa, canada on a trip to buffalo, ny when i heard the vehicle making loud noises towards the front end and the ability to steer was lost. The vehicle would not turn and was essentially immobilized.i left it as is and had it towed to star motors mercedes, 400 w hunt club rd, nepean, on k2e 1b2, canada. From the mechanics -the vehicle's electronic steering box bolts broke from exposure to salt just as stated in this article where mercedes benz in fact recalled 21,500 of these vehicles in canada, but not in the usa? https://canada.autonews.com/automakers/mercedes-benz-canada-recalls-21500-vehicles-where-road-salt-used my e350 has been exclusively driven in buffalo, detroit, toronto and ottawa, canada, all areas where salt is utilized in huge quantities. The price to service and correct this issue where mercedes clearly admits there are issues with those bolts is $4300 canadian.i am glad that this did not happen on the highway as it could have been fatal. I am writing to the nhtsa to request that this recall be valid for all areas where salt is utilized in the us as this mechanical failure could cause vehicle accidents resulting in death or bodily injury if not rectified. I hope nhtsa understands this issue is not just in eastern canada as buffalo and detroit uses more salt on the roads that most cities in canada.the mercedes dealerships that i spoke too, all know about this problem so much so the parts are on back order.i appreciate your help in getting mercedes benz to extend their recall into the usa.
The collar around the bottom of the steering wheel has melted.happened while car parkedin my driveway.i don't know how!no accident involved!dealer can't explain what happened or why!how safe is my vehicle? never heard of such! the bottom of the steering wheel is exposed!the cost to repair is on me!what is going on.this is not a wear or tear situation! how safe am i? maybe heat inside the car caused it!don't know!more photos available
Total steering failure. The steering locked up solid, and trying to turn the steering wheel was met with a hammering noise from under the front of the car. Fortunately, this occurred in our driveway - had it happened on the highway there would definitely been an accident.we took the car to our local repair shop (the mercedes dealer is a 1-1/2 hour drive from where we live) and they determined that the aluminum bolts holding the electric drive motor to the steering rack had corroded through and motor had fallen off.i found that there is a recall for this problem in canada, but our dealer (burlington vermont) said there is no recall in the u.s.

Large bubble (approx 2" across) on outer sidewall of left front tire.there was no impact to cause this tire defect.this is the second similar incident with these original equipment tires since the car was purchased new.the original equipment tires on this mercedes benz e350 are:continental, contiprocontact, 245/40 r1897v.these tires do not have significant tread wear.having had 2 tire defects out 4 tires in 8,500 miles on this vehicle, i am afraid to take this car on a road trip at high speed.i am an attorney; this appears to me to be a significant safety hazard, product liability problem.the tire dealer who has handled both tire replacements can provide further detail and tire serial numbers:big o tire, 3090 kietzke lane, reno, nevada89502, 775-827-5000.[xxx]information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).

I have had 3 irreparable tire blowouts in less than 12 months: approximate dates april 21, 2014, may 12, 2014, and february 2, 2015.all 3 were the result of hitting potholes.okay, that happens to other cars on occasion. But i consider the result to be a design defect in either the wheel/tire combination, which would be the fault of mercedes, or a defect in the continental tires alone.the car is a 2012 mercedes e350 with sport suspension.as a result, the stiff suspension combined with the low profile continental oem tires (dot hw2p-n1h6) is a potential combination that is potentially lethal, not to say expensive to maintain at approx. $300 per tire replacement.
