Srs indicator lamp on. The srs light is illuminated and dash display reports complete failure of all srs systems.error code 9103, defective connector and wire, airbag line to steering column, caused entire srs shutdown.

Srs (passive restraint system failure) warning lamp came on while driving the vehicle. The vehicle (2005 mercedes benz c230 sport sedan) was taken to the dealer as directed by the owner's manual. Vehicle has been at the dealer for repairs since 7/26/04. On 8/17/04 the vehicle was still not repaired. The service manager told me that there are over twenty (20) vehicles with the same failure awaiting parts. Service manager told me that the car is unsafe to drive until repaired and would not let me take the car from the repair facility.

The contact owns a 2005 mercedes-benz e320. When the vehicle was started, the front passenger air bag warning chime was audible. The contact stated that the warning chime continued until the seat belt was secured even though there was no passenger seated in the front passenger seat. The vehicle was not taken to be diagnosed. Mercedes-benz of florence (2199 david h mcleod blvd, florence, sc 29501, (843) 410-5188) stated that the vehicle needed to be diagnosed, but declined to do so. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 82,000.

The contact owns a 2005 mercedes benz e320. The contact stated that the fuel gauge and the speedometer gauge displayed inaccurate readings on the instrument panel. The vehicle was not included in nhtsa campaign number: 08v303000 (electrical system). The dealer did not recode the scn, but rather emptied the fuel tank and replaced the fuel and the fuel lever sensor. The failure recurred intermittently. The vehicle was also not included in nhtsa action number: ea13003 (fuel system, gasoline). The contact reported the safety concern with the air bag sensor, which was not included in pe: 10017 (air bags and electrical system). The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer more than twice, but the failures persist. The manufacturer was notified of the failures. The approximate failure mileage was 68,000.

The driver of the mercedes was traveling east on interstate 80 in a rural area of california.the driver claims to have fallen asleep while driving the vehicle and allowed the vehicle to leave the south side of the freeway while traversing a left curve in the roadway.the vehicle launched off a slight downhill embankment south of the roadway and the vehicle traversed an undulated vegetative area prior to striking a large diameter tree with the front of the vehicle.the impact was right of the center of the front of the vehicle.the driver and front passenger were wearing their type-2 safety belts.after striking the tree, the vehicle overturned onto its left side and came to rest on its roof.the driver front and side-curtain airbags deployed as did the front passenger side-curtain airbag.the front passenger front airbag did not deploy.both occupants sustained major injuries as a result of the collision.the investigating chp officer observed that the front passenger front airbag did not deploy and requested an evaluation of the system due to a perceived potential srs system failure.chp multidisciplinary accident investigation team (mait) evaluated the system (see included mait investigation).

Srs light on - message on dash that srs has malfunctioned.took car to dealer on 2/20/06 and was told i could wait for car.as it turned out i did not get my car back until6pm on 2/22/06.per dealer's repair invoice...check codes and evaluate.check actual values and check dtb.perform repairs, replace wiring to steering wheel control module.on 06/29/06 srs light on again with malfunction message.took to dealer and advised same problem as on 2/20/06. Car is at dealer awaiting repair and has been promised for today, 6/30/06.

I was driving a 2005 e320 mercedes and had another vehicle passes the stop sign and we had a car accident.none of the airbags in my vehicle deplored and i was injured.

Takata recall: the srs light in my vehicle has been on for a while. It just happened overnight without any reason. My concern is what would happen if i got into an accident, would the air bags still work. I'm wondering if this issue comes from the manufacture because i have heard of some of the benz from this year with the same issue

Cable harness and connectors in steering column airbag, poor connection from using steering wheel.engine and transmission mounts disintegrated and needed to be replaced.front thrust arms with bushings had torn boots and needed to be replaced.crankshaft sensor was faulty and needed to be replaced.transmission data link connector was faulty and needed to be replaced.

"airbag failure"the srs light came on my 2005 mercedes e320 cdi.i paid the dealer $100+ to pull the codes and it was the airbag connector in the steering column.since i work on the car myself and it was just out of out of warranty (30,000 miles but 4 years and a couple of months). I bought another connector and replaced it myself.i have a 1992 mercedes and it has gold pins on the airbag circuit whereas this 'new' car has grey 'zinc' pins.

Car was elevated on a 2 post car lift and we were working on the underside of the body. 2 sharp blows were struck on a bolt head on the underside of the car with a hammer in an effort to loosen the bolt. After the second blow, the drivers side side airbags deployed. The car was stationary, the transmission was in neutral and the ignition key was turned to the accessory position.

Srs malfunction light goes on.

Srs warning light on.replaced seat control a 211 870 05 26.no help.service technician could not find the problem.service decided to replace entire seat frame at a cost in excess of $2,800 including parts and labor.srs code was identified when the car was stationary and just started in enclosed parking space with door open.

Purchase this car in february 2017 smells like gas is seeping out from somewhere. Stopped in themiddle of highway. Now having problems with starting car and airbag suspension light is on.

2005 mercedes e320 steering column wiring failure ( 'clock spring"& steering wiring module & srs air bag "failure). Partial repair corrected loss of turn signals, horn and speedometer at a cost to me ( owner of $749.). One day later srs (air bag fail indicator) came on again. Back to dealer who said a wiring harness in the steering column is also bad & needs to be replaced at an additional fee of $516. But that they would do repair for $429. ???did not affect repair yet. Just noticed defect investigation?? what should i do ?? (failure light for srs is still on etc.). Can i recover (past $749) and future? ($516 / $429) costs???

Takata recall. The contact owns a 2005 mercedes-benz e320. While the contact was driving at a low rate of speed, another vehicle switched lanes into the path of the contact's vehicle. The contact swerved to the right and crashed into a curb to avoid the other vehicle. Some of the air bags deployed. Smoke appeared inside and outside the front passenger side of the vehicle. There were no injuries. The insurance company towed the vehicle to a facility. A police report was not filed. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The dealer was not contacted. The manufacturer was notified. The failure mileage was not available.

Srs (passive restraint system) failure.warning light came on while driving car with message the srs had malfunctioned which could cause airbags to not deploy.took car to dealer who verified complaint.this is the third time in six months that the system has failed.dealer performed the exact same service as they did on the second failure (6/29/06).they rewired the passive restraint system per instructions from mercedes technical assistance.

The consumer was involved in an accident in her 2005 mercedes e320 which damaged the front driver's side of the vehicle.the front driver's side air bag did not deploy.a special examined the vehicle and determined that the air bags performed as the should because the collision was a lateral impact.

Electrical problems out of service 18 days, srs/airbag failures out of service 18 days, ac/defrost blower motor failures out of service 12 days, brakes out of service 9 days, transmission (idle surge/up shifting/stalling) out of service 10 days, front end/tires out of service 10 days.during the lemon law final repair attempt, the dealer wrote on work order that they had installed new brakes because they found "after market brakes" on car.the only place the car has ever been serviced was the dealership where we purchased it.we asked the service advisor and assistant service manager (first they said the brakeswere thrown out and then they said the parts were shipped to mb) and wrote two certified letters to mercedes benzfor theremoved parts so we couldtrack the serial numbers.we were ignored.the regional representative who initiatedthe "brake replacement" was conveniently "promoted out of the area" just before the lemon law hearing so he could not be questioned.we had been complaining about the brakes, especially the stopping distance, from the beginning and they kept sayingno problem found.the dealer would not document it on the work orders.

Dt: the contact stated the passenger's air bag sensor was not working properly. When an adult passenger was sitting in the seat the light illuminated, indicating the air bag was not functioning. When a child or a person under the weight guidelines sat in the passenger's seat the air bag would not be activated. The light cameon/off randomly, making it difficult to determine if the air bag was functioning when necessary.the dealer attempted to correct the problem four times, and have been unsuccessful. The dealer planned to contact the manufacturer for assistance in determining the cause of the problem.

The consumer was involved in a collision. When the consumer made a left turn another vehicle ran a red light and hit the drivers side of the consumers vehicle. The side airbag did not deploy.

Dt:side airbag deployment:contact states while drivingvehicle he ran over a piece of rubber in the road, all three side air bags deployed.the service dealer states the passengersin the rear of the car were jolted because of hitting the rubber in the road.contact states while decelerating the transmission down shifts, the brake system slows down too much andvehicle lurches forward.in stop and go traffic has no brake control.

My brake has metal grinding noise and no dash board warning light showing problems. It has some dragging when brakes.

Vehicle was acting normally up to incident. Entering highway accelerating like normal and pulled out in front of tractor trailer when suddenly car had dramatic and frightening loss of power.full throttle did nothing. Downshifting did nothing.with truck horns blaring and near collision, i pulled off the road. Restarting cleared the problem.dramatic loss of power has occurred three more times with no warning nor check engine light.now light comes on with egr out of range code.discussing this with other mercedes diesel owners points towards soot clogged egr valve and soot clogged intake manifold.how such a problem could occur so frequently at such a low mileage with a company known for diesels is unknown.

Bought used one owner car w/88,500 miles in july 2015.after driving only 200 miles check engine light came on, engine would turn over but not start, it was towed to repair shop.codes read crankshaft sensor, generator.mechanic replaced crankshaft sensor and repaired wire to it.did not replace alternator.called and advised car was ready for pickup. Picked up car and drove less than 2 miles and check engine light came on again.took back to mechanic who removed codes.drove another 5 miles and check engine light came on again.he didn't answer phone, drove home in limp mode where it sat for over a month when another mechanic was willing to tackle job.he put on new alternator and drive belt.crankshaft sensor was bad again and he replaced it.car would not start.towed to mb in franklin, tnwho said ecm/ ecu module bad.replaced it andthen said batteries bad, and alternator bad.they replaced batteries but local mechanic told them alternator was working fine when it was put in car.car towed back to local mechanic who checked and said alternator was indeed bad now and he replaced it with one he checked out again before installing.now the alternator was not being allowed to charge the system and is being towed back to mb in franklin, tn.after searching the internet i found that mb has been installing defective wiring harnesses in their cars since the 1990's and they know it but will only replace the defective harness to those to yell the loudest because there are supposedly millions on cars on the road just waiting to short out expensive parts and cause owners costly repairs.i am yelling at the top of my voice for you to go after them with a vengeance and make them do the repairs.i have spent over $4000. Already on this car which should have been fixed by them at their expense.the covering on the wires gets brittle and shorts out various..

I recently purchased a new mercedes with a gps.in my opinion, the device is a serious safety hazard and will cause countless accidents in its present state.for example, when i was at the zoo on conn. Ave. In d.c. And programmed the device to get to reagan national, it insisted on taking conn. Ave. Downtown and cutting across to 14th st.i elected to take rock creek parkway to the memorial bridge and then down rt. 110.within a quarter of a mile after entering rock creek, the device was telling me to make a left.absent an atv, this illegal turn could not be performed.additionally, where it wanted me to go was an on-ramp (with a do not enter sign) for traffic traveling in the opposite direction.a little later it suggested a right turn into a steep embankment.finally, as i was passing the kennedy center it suggested a left turn into it.only when i reached the memorial bridge did it decide to recalculate the route.the problem, as i see it, is that a fair percentage of drivers will blindly follow the verbal instructions with serious consequences. Incidentally, talking with the salesman about this problem, he told me that they all ready had a woman drive into a lake. My verbalization of this problem is totally inadequate therefore i invite one or more of your staffers in d.c. For a test ride.

The contact owns a 2005 mercedes-benz e320. While the vehicle was stationary, it was hacked into electronically. The brakes, air bags, radio, and all other electrical functions were able to be controlled, including the vehicle's software. The manufacturer and dealer were unable to assist. The failure mileage was 181,514.

Battery light came on so it was charged then reconnected, everything good, turn key to on position everything good, turn key to start and bang! loud bang and white smoke everywhere, engine continued to smoke for several minutes after explosion, hole in front of engine

There is a high level of rf being emitted inside the cabin of the car. The level is so high it pushes pulsed rf waves against an aluminum emergency blanket that was set up to identify which direction it was coming from. This method showed it is coming from multiple direction within the cabin. This is with the engine off and windows rolled up. Also lf l leave the car and come back within less than a minute the climate inside will knock me out, ormake me very sleepy. I have to immediately get out of the car and walk 50 to 70 feet away from it to stop this from happening if l catch it in time. Most of the time l do not and someone is using this defect to steal items from the car, destroy the interior ad along with a host of illegal activity while l am passed out inside.because this dangerous activity happens 90 percent of the time the rf may be remotely controlled. Also l havealmost been knockedout while driving on several different occasions. Thanks to jesus christ l was able to pull the car over and recover. In addition the rf will isolate and freeze different body parts individually similar to the therapeutic procedure of cool sculpting. Multiple police reports have been made and the dealership notified. The car marker was notified by phone but refuse to help.

The contact owns a 2005 mercedes benz e320. The contact stated that while driving approximately 20 mph, the fuel gauge displayed erroneous readings. The vehicle was taken to the dealer. The technician diagnosed that the fuel system had failed. The vehicle was repaired but the failure persisted. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer who stated that the fuel injection and fuel gauge needed to be replaced. In addition, the contact stated that after only driving one block the speedometer would display one mile. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 100,000.

Brakes grind when put in drive, park and at stop lights.seat belt indicator had to be fixed after 5 times at the shop, brakes were identified with a problem by mbz after 6 visits to the shop (fletcher jones mbz las vegas), tech stated on the invoice he identified the problem and ordered the parts.when i took the car back in to get the parts, the service manager stated there was a mistake and there was nothing wrong with the brakes and mbz would not fix the problem.currently none of the seat belts work (when slamming on the brakes they do not lock).control panel reads "srs malfunction drive to shop", "airbags off", "check engine".fletcher jones mbz las vegas refuses to comply with the lemon law, repair for one malfunction more than 3 times, out of service (in the shop) for more than 30 days in one calendar year.

Headlightand engine wiring deteriorating beyond repair! dangerous and may cause sudden crash or fire.,.

The contact owns a 2005 mercedes-benz e320. The brakes failed to respond when the brake pedal was depressed and the battery warning indicator flashed on the instrument panel. The manufacturer indicated that the statute to receive an extended service campaign expired; therefore, they refused to repair the vehicle. The vin was not included in nhtsa campaign number: 05v133000 (service brakes, hydraulic). The approximate failure mileage was 145,000.

The contact owns a 2005 mercedes benz e320. The contact stated that there was a daily occurrence of massive rfid leak which caused pain to the contact. The contact mentioned the only way to protect from the pain was to cover the body with aluminum shielding or metal. Additionally, the contact stated that the vehicle would fail to start intermittently. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where the failure was unable to be diagnosed. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 24,000 and the current mileage was 153,000.

The car is being hacked into by multiple individuals across triple cities. The hackers are able to lock and unlock the doors, shift gears, turn on the check engine light, control the radio and cd player, open the hood to steal oil and control the complete functionality of the car. Including turning on the cabin lights, blacking out the odometer along with the fuel gauge, and shutting the car off when desired this includes in the middle of the street. Because they can unlock the doors and roll down the windows they have access to the hood and gas door. This allowed them to break the radiator, damage the catalytic converter, and steal gas. Also since the hackers have access they have destroyed the drivers seat, crack the wood on the steering wheel and door trim, removed the right and left front doors, and destroyed the center arm rest. The rf field is controlledby them, and loud cracking sounds are remotely introduced when the car is stationary and key removed. The tele- aid is also activities remotely on occasion as well. The fbi has been notified numerous times to no avail along with the car maker who told me not to contact them again. Three dealerships checked out the car and none knew how to deal with the issue. Mercedes benz in germany was notified by emai and said mercedes usa has my information i'm their legal department. This was over 2 years ago with no contact from them regarding this issue. All attempts to reach them by phone via customer service has failed. Multiple police reports have been made with several police departments.

Replaced battery (30 days ago) and now warning light comes on saying i need to replace the battery every 10 miles and will not go off. Brake lights (abs and esp) lights comne on and nothing is wrong when it is being repairs.filled up my car yesterday and strong gas fumes in the car and in my garage. Made me nauseated. Read this wasrecall for that year and model.

Car shut off randomly by going safe mode while driving, constant break warning in bright red " break visit workshop" i went to multiple shops and a consistent electrical issue but, problem to be determined, car has been checked multiple times before i purchased it from the used car dealer with the srs light on, i did not know what it was. The car has had the alternator replaced 3 times, both batteries twice, one short was found in faulty wiring harness in truck being pinched. The dealer would deny sbc unit recall every time i called fletcher jones, and only gave me the option to pay them for a diagnosis and then they will determine if its faulty instead of my life being risked as well as those around me i finally tracked down the number for corporate and i got conformation from mercedes corporate say my vin was included in the list.the car would leave me without breaks, power steering multiple times and always without notice occurring mostly on the freeway. The sbc unit was eventually replaced by a supposed authorized shop and i still have not received any reimbursement and then the same problems occurred shortly after the repair. The electrical issue had drained the batteries yet again so the car was garaged at my parents where it eventually caught fire in that location which makes this whole ordeal even more outrageous due to mercedes major lack of concern with this and they still want me to pay them to fix it before they will even decide to do anything. I have many different quarterly report print outs as well, out of the 100s of 1000s documented to possible 2 million total faulty cars , my car had almost all of different safety issues reported. Bought car @ 73k mi, caught fire, blew hole in manifold @ 123k, just isn't right, seems they are trying to cover up true amount of faulty cars in us by asking confidentiality by nhtsa granted blacked files illegible

Was driving on the highway and the car lost power. Took it in to the dealer and i was told that the problem cannot be duplicated. The car was in several times for repairs without success. Changed the egr valve to no avail. When the car looses power i have to restart it ,and then is fine for a while. Bought the car new an sill have it.

With engine running and car stopped and idlingcar engine died and would not restart for 20 minutes.

The engine shut down by itself.i tried to restart, but it did not.however, it would start again, after 5 minutes.these events have happened several times; it became dangerous.engine problems due to crankshaft position sensor failure.

Slowing down for light and car tries to stall. After getting it home and in the garage, noticed strong gas smell. Took to shop and guy said gas leak from top of tank. Read about lots of complaints about this issue with other people with e320's.

Faulty cam and crankshaft position sensor caused engine to die (stall) in heavy nyc traffic in the center lane of us hwy 9. Dealer indicated that the cam position sensor 003-153-28-28 and sender unit 004-153-69-28 must be replaced, indicating the cause as an internal fault. Dealer's service rep stated that this was a common problem. The failure mode is the same as occurred on my e 320 model year 2000.

The contact owns a 2005 mercedes benz e320. The contact was driving 25 mph and attempting a right turn when the engine started to emit a noise and the rpms increased excessively. The vehicle was pulled to the curb and the contact turned the engine off for about ten seconds. The vehicle was restarted and returned to normal. The contact stated that the failure recurred twice within six months. The vehicle was not taken to the dealer or a mechanic for repairs or inspection. I own a 2005 mercedes e320 cdi (diesel).the car gives off black smoke (intermittently) and a black tar like substance (black soot) pours out of my exhaust.i have complained to mercedes and they state, "the car is operating within factory specifications."the dealership (skyland automotive, asheville, nc) states that it is due to poor quality diesel fuel.i have considered legal action under the "nc lemon law", but would rather just have the problem solved or a return of the purchase price of the vehicle.

For the past 2 years i have been smelling a strong gas smell coming from the car/garage after filling it up.i had been putting it off as no big deal, but today my whole house smelled like gas after i filled the tank last night and parked the car in the garage.we had to clear the house thinking we had some gas leak before i realized it was coming from the car.i have read that isa common problem in this car and an investigation was started last year.this seems to be a very hazardous situation as i assume it could lead to a fire or explosion.i'm afraid to go to the dealer cause i know they will probably say to replace the tank or sensor or both, all which could lead into a several thousand dollar repair. But because i am seeing that many people are having this same problem with this car and an investigation is going on, there must be something i can do to get this fixed before something bad happens.this is clearly a manufacturer problem.please help.

Fuel leaking from real wheel area on driver side.

The car has a strong gasoline smell both in the passenger compartment as well as outside the car after filling the gas tank.this smell persists for several days, until the tank gets to below 3/4 full, at which time the fuel smell goes away.the strong fuel smell returns when the tank is again refilled to full capacity.the seals around the fuel pump and sending unit at the top of the tank were replaced twice with factory mercedes-benz parts by a qualified mechanic, and this has not stopped the problem.there appears to be a leak in the gas tank or other fuel system component.the mechanic inspected the fuel sending unit and did not see any fuel leaks at that point, leaving me to suspect a leaking gas tank.

After filling the fuel tank completely full, i noticed a strong smell of fuel. I removed the rear passenger seat and also removed the two panels that cover the fuel sending unit. Once i removed the two panels i saw a puddle of fuel sitting in a low spot on top of the fuel sending unit. This concerns me as it is puddling and vapor is being put into the passenger compartment of the vehicle as well as the atmosphere.

Dear sir or madam, every time we fueled up our vehicle we noticed a strong gas smell inside our garage as well as the vehicle cabin.we have called the dealer to check to see if there is any recall concerning the gas leak defect in this type of vehicle but they said there were no recall in effect.we are seriously concern about the safety of this vehicle for our family (may cause fire in the cabin, etc.) so we are request a defect investigation of the fuel system in this vehicle.please note our car has relatively low mileage and we have other vehicles with much higher mileage but we did not experience with the similar problem.thank you in advance for the time!

In 2009 we started to notice the smell of gasoline coming into the passenger compartment and strongly from the left read wheel well following filling the tank with gas. At times the smell of gasoline would be so strong that the vehicle had to be parked outside of the garage and left open to vent the interior. In all, this vehicle has been serviced for this issue with the fuel sending seals or the fuel sending unit 9 times. All instances, save one, were reported by the dealer to be the seals as the culprit. I have all of my service documentation on these service events. Recently, as a result of a "check engine" light, my mechanic found again that the seal was leaking. On this occasion he reported fuel pooled on the top of the tank and evidence that fuel had been spilling around and down the tank. ..updated 09/30/13 updated 11/1/2013

Strong smell of gasoline after filling gas tank.

I've had the smell of fuel in my e320 base model for about 2-3 months now.i didn't pay it much attention until now (3/31/2012) when i did a little research for myselfand found a leak from the fuel pump to fuel line housing. I did not take pictures but the hose line connection to the pump was cracked and upon taking hose off pump housing, the housing connection snapped completely off.in the process of trying to find another fuel pump now because vehicle is disable.

I filed with your agency last year and never heard back i am the owner of a 2005 e class .after several calls to mercedes , the fuel tank was replaced at the dealership here in seattle last year.i paid for the repairs and mercedes paid for the new tank. My out of pocket for this repair was close to $2000.00it has been apprx 15 months and i have notice again some fuel smell inside my vehicle.of course i was not given any paperwork for the replacement of the fuel tank, but ison record at the dealership.i fell like i am driving on top of a fuel bomb and will i be the 1st victim of a terrible accident. I feel stuck with this car and the dealership pretends to have never heard of this fuel leak and fumes penetrating the interior of the car.what is happening with this issue? do not let mercedes get away with that.[xxx]information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).

The contact stated that the check engine light illuminated, so the vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer and she was informed that the fuel tank was leaking. As a result, a strong odor of fuel would emit from the vehicle during the first fifty miles of driving after refueling. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 70,000 and the current mileage was 83,000.

When the fuel tank is filled 100% there is a very strong fuel odor, which can be smelled in the outdoors but is extremely strong when parked in the attached garage.this odor is so strong that it enters the house, and we have to leave the garage door wide open for fear of a spark causing a fire.if one looks under the car there is no dripping. The odor does not go away until the fuel tank is no longer completely full.the fuel leak stops after we are down a couple gallons from completely full fuel tank.i have pulled the back seat and seen that the there is gasoline pooling around the fuel pump (fuel delivery module).i am concerned that a rear end collision would cause the leaking fuel to combust.

Start date is approximate. This issue has been going on for around 4 years. Car has smelled strongly of gasoline when filled over 3/4 a tank. Also, when filled over 3/4 a tank gas can be seen dripping down beside driver side rear tire. Have spent several hundred dollars trying to get issue fixed until i heard about the investigation. The "check engine" light is continuously on due to a "fuel system leak." who knows how much this has cost me in wasted gas, and i'm constantly afraid someone is going to light a cigarette next to my car and blow themselves up.

1. Fueling the vehicle- after fueling the vehicle and filling up the tank, a very very strong odor of gasoline/fumes stays in the cabin of the vehicle days or until gas tank drops down to under half a tank.2. Fumes are so strong, causes occupants headaches and nausea3. Vehicle stopped on idle- when coming to a complete stop, vehicle begins to choke, as if its about to turn off. Need to put the car on neutral and press the accelerator to stop the car from choking.4. Turning- when making turns- the vehicle will randomly choke as if not receiving any gas, and as if its about to turn off.the power steering also goes inactive, leaving it almost impossible to make the turn.this is very dangerous especially on left hand turns at intersections.i have stopped turning in front of oncoming vehicles because i do not trust the vehicles response.i cannot predict when these episodes of non-response to acceleration will occur.

Gas leak rear tanks mercedes e320, gas leaks out when tank is full, dealer says to not to; off tank.cill cost $2200 to fix. No warranty. Car only 5 years old and needs new gas tank. Dealer should pay for this kind of maintenance,is replacing gas tank every 5 years typical maintenance? this could cause fire, very dangerous.

Car bought off lease from mercedes benz credit at auction. Almost immediately began to smell strong fuel vapor odor when the car was filled with fuel. Determined that fuel tank is made out of plastic. This plastic fuel tank had a crack in it. It had to be replaced at my cost. I believe this should be a national recall and be paid for by mercedes benz. Online, there are many reports of this occurring in other mercedes e320's like mine. The dealer admitted replacing over 20 of these fuel tanks per month.

There is a strong gas odor coming from the car, which is extremely strong after the car has been parked overnight in garage.this is a very dangerous problem that should be remedied on all effected models.

I noticed a strong fuel smell after a fillup, one more than one occasion, and the repair shop diagnosed a problem with the sensors and that fuel had leaked onto the top of the tank.. They did a repair job of over $1000 in december 2013.then 3 months later, after a fill up i again noticed the strong fuel smell when the car was parked in my garage, and this time the service repair shop said it was an actual fuel tank leak.further online research indicates that this problem is not unique to me and has happened to many e series cars and yet mercedes benz hasn't addressed it with a recall (yet part wholesalers have multiple replacement tanks in stock).information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).

We start notice gas fumes smell when we filled our mercedes-benz up with gas & as we drove our vehicle the gas smell would stop, approximately 30 miles plus. As the months went on the incidentwould get worst at each fill-up. Sometime around february the check engine light came on so we took the vehicle to repair shop & they found gas leakage around the fuel pump under the back seat. As of today the issue is still going on with the gas smell.

Fuel tank leaks fuel at the top when tank is filled higher than 3/4ths.there are several hundred reports of this on these models on the internet.the issue appears to start occurring around 90-100k miles.since mercedes are made to go many miles this can be an issue. This is very dangerous.i have had it at a mechanic he told me that i should report this to mercedes as it appears that the plastic fuel tank has a flaw in it.we have not fixed the problem as we want it to be investigated. Looking for guidance.

One day i fill my tank with gas & when i get in my car i smell gasoline. I'm thinking i stepped in some gas at the gas station. I come home & park. As i exit my car & come around the passenger side i'm smelling gas. For the next few days the gas smell continues to suffocate me. I got on the internet & googled " i smell gas in my 2005 e320". I was shocked to see that lots of other people were having the same problem. The no-cost solution was not to fill your tank, only halfway but then your constantly stopping for gas smh. Why don't the dealers want to fix this problem?? is this the reputation that mercedes wants to create??

There is a very strong smell of gasoline in the cabin of the car after i fill the gas tank. The smell persists until about one-eighth to one-quarter of the tank has been used then dissipates. I have read where this is a common problem for this class and year of mercedes. I just purchased the car. Is there a recall to solve this problem? if so, is there a reference number? if not, is there a service bulletin issued by your agency or by mercedes to its dealers to fix the problem. Mercedes should be compelled to fix this. The gas fumes are nearly incapacitating and certainly impair safe driving.

Strong gasoline odor inside the cabin and garage after fill up, bought the car used from kendall dodge in miami fl. The day before, filled up twice after that and the smell of gas is dangerously present every time.the car is no longer under warranty and repair costs over $2000.00.

Fuel leak and strong odor of fuel after fill up. Fumes are highly flammable, toxic and noxious.thought this issue was addressed under nhtsa action # ea13003 (dated dec 19th 2014) and mercedes is telling me they are unaware of any extended warranty to correct this highly dangerous issue and refusing to correct as agreement plainly calls for.please help. The contact owns a 2005 mercedes benz e320. The contact stated that there were strong gasoline fumes coming from the fuel tank whenever the vehicle was driven. While driving uphill, the fuel gauge did not display the correct reading. As a safety precaution the contact only put a half tank of gasoline to ensure that the fuel would not overflow or the strong odor would not emit from the gasoline tank. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer who diagnosed that the fuel tank cap was leaking and the left and right fuel tanks needed to be replaced. The vehicle was inspected, diagnosed and repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The contact was not included in nhtsa action number: ea13003 (fuel system, gasoline). The approximate failure mileage was 120,000.

A strong fuel odor was noticed on the rear driver's side of the vehicle after driving the car with a nearly full tank of gas.i removed the access panel beneath the rear seat on the driver's side and discovered fuel collecting in the well around the fuel sending unit.this is the second time in 3 years/30,000 miles that i have had this fuel leak.the first leak was repaired 3 years ago by replacing the fuel sending unit with a mercedes oem unit.clearly, mercedes has not addressed the part/materials reliability issue that so many owners of the w211 e-class are experiencing.i am convinced that this is a design flaw in the fuel system of this vehicle and a recall of this vehicle model is warranted.this very well may be the last mercedes benz vehicle that i ever purchase.photos of the leaking fuel sender can be provided upon request.

For the last several weeks we have smelled a gas odor in our garage and on the inside of our 2005 mercedes benz e-320.since an odor of gas creates the possibility of a fire or environmental concern we scheduled an appointment for 01/22/2013 (today). The car is currently in fields motorcars - 209 s. Lake parker avenue, lakeland, fl33801.we are also having the annual service done at this time.after inspection this morning, the mechanic advised our service writer that there is a leak in the fuel tank.based on their recommendation the fuel tank is being replaced.any fuel leak has a potential for dangerous and fatal consequences.the cost for this is approximately $2000.00.i have been advised the fuel tank leak is not covered by the factory warranty, nor is there a government mandated recall.the vehicle is tentatively scheduled to be completed and returned to us tomorrow, 01/23/2013.in researching the fuel tank leak in our vehicle, i have found there is ample information indicating the fuel tank leaking issue is not limited to my vehicle. I also noted that in february, 2012 the nhtsa has opened up an investigation into this matter.in addition, the texas law firm wigington, rumley dunn & ritch along with georgia law firm conley griggs partin filed a class action lawsuit on july 18, 2012, against mercedes-benz, usa and its german parent corporation daimler on behalf of thousands of consumers who purchased model year 2003-2009 mercedes-benz e-class vehicles. Our car was purchased off lease around november 2008.it had 47,000 miles on it when we purchased it.we noticed that when we filled the gas tank up the gas fumes were strong in the garage since the time we purchased the car.in march 2012 the check engine light came on while on a trip shortly after that gas tank was filled.i read the manual and stopped by an auto zone and they told me it was probably due to the gas cap being loose and the fuel tank loosing pressure and they cleared the warning.the light has come on a few times since then and i have had it cleared twice at auto zone since i did not think there was a big problem and i was in between services.within the last six months i have had it the mercedes service department and they told me they did not know why the check engine light was on and that they did not have enough time to find out what was wrong.yesterday, september 25, 2013, i went to a mercedes benz specialists, local mechanic that only works on mercedes and uses mercedes parts, for an annual oil change and checkup and asked him to check out the problem that the mercedes service department did not know what was wrong.he tested the fuel tank using a system to detect leaks and noted that the top of the fuel tank had a crack and i need to replace the fuel tank and it would cost $2,082.over the past few years i just filled the tank to half or three fourths so it would not emit fumes, however, i filled it up for a trip last week and you could smell the fumes badly in the car.our car has about 134000 miles on it now.

About a year ago, we noticed a mild gas smell after fill up. The smell used to go away in a matter of hours, so we attributed that to possible spill during refill. Gradually, smell became stronger and lasted longer. Early january 2013, after a recent fill up, we stored the car in garage for 2 weeks while using our other vehicle. The smell became so strong, it was felt in laundry room next to the garage. Smell wouldn't go away so we suspected agas leak. Upon examination by dealer, it was found that there is significant gas leak under rear seat (passenger side). The leak was from a defective fuel filter and sender unit.we found out that this is a very common defect with 2005 e320 class cars.indeed manufacturer hadissued a recall in 2008 covering leaking fuel filters. The recall included2005 e320 but apparently did not include my vehicle. This is a serious safety/health hazard that should have beenaddressed by the manufacturer.

Every time the car is filled up with gas, there is a very strong gas smell inside and outside of the vehicle. Removed the back seat and the plate that covers the fuel sending unit and gas puddles up around the seal of the sending unit. Had seal replaced, but that only helped for about a month. It only does this when tank is full (probably due to the pressure in the tank). This problem seems to be getting worse and i try to avoid filling tank completely, but sometimes it's hard to tell when it's getting close to full. The problem only seems to occur on the driver's side of the car, even though there is also a sending unit on the passenger side.

Car has a very strong gas smell inside the cabin. Upon removal of back seat it appears wet with gas. This problem started on february 5, 2016 on my e320 (2005) benz and the odor started to give me headaches. I took car for shampoo and then consulted with mechanic who removed back seat and found wet area with gas.

When filling up the gas tank i sell gas and odor fills up the garage.the smell usually goes aways when the car has been driven and gas tank is not full.this week i filled the gas the tank up and gas was leaking and could not park it in the garage.

Couple of months back, i started to get the strong gas smell every time i fill up the gas tank. The smell stays there for 2-3 days. It's so strong that it fills up the whole garage with that foul gas smell. Sometime we can even smell it in our laundry. The entire car cabin gets full of fuel smell after i fill up the tank and my kids refuse to sit in the car. I always fill up gas at chevron and it comes with techron. I was thinking that it's the techron smell and since it used to go away in a day or two, i never worried about it much. But today when i took the car to the dealer to fix some other things, he also noticed the gas smell and told me that the left fuel sending unit on my car is leaking and needs replacement. It seems to be a very common issue with e class cars and mb should recall or repair it for free.

At some point after owning the vehicle, i noticed a strong gas smell coming from inside and outside my car.it was so strong that it permeated the rooms of my home closest to the garage where i park my car.i later realized the strong smell occurred after filling up my tank, and diminished significantly after the tank reached about half full. Since the fumes are greatest when my tank is more than half full, i live with filling it half way or less.when i happen to forget and fill the tank to capacity, i have to park the car outside my garage, and drive with the windows open.the fumes inside the car are unbearable, and i am concerned for my health and the health of my son.several months ago, i asked a mercedes benz dealership if there was anything they could do.i never heard back.i called again a few days ago.i told them the issue, and asked what the possible problems could be, and what the approximate repair cost will be.i was told they've seen a couple of problems that cause the fuel smell:a leak in some part of the fuel system (can't remember exactly what); and, the gas tank itself.depending on the cause, the repair could run anywhere from $600+ to $2500. Note:date of incident and vehicle mileage are approximations.i've been living with this awhile.i just can't remember how long.

Purchase this car in february 2017 smells like gas is seeping out from somewhere. Stopped in themiddle of highway. Now having problems with starting car and airbag suspension light is on.

Fuel smells from the tank fuel. It sometimes leaks and marks can be seen on the ground. The smell is worse when i put full tank of gas. The smell is so strong that i have to park the car far from the house to avoid endangering my family since the smell can get into the house if the car is parked in my garage. Driving in such condition puts me at risk since the smell is so bothersome. I have had to roll the window down even in very cold weather in order to get fresh air.i went to a mercedes dealership where they suggested that the tank was the problem and it needed to be replace at my cost. According to them, it was not my fault that the tank had issues but they refused to pay for it.

After fueling and the gas tank indicator shows full there is a very strong odor of gasoline in the cabinit is so strong that we must drive with windows down and sunroof open.in rainy or cold weather that is not a good option.the fumes dissipate after the fuel indicator nears the 1/2 full markis very unhealthy to breathe in these fumes and there is also a fire risk.

Fuel leak in fuel tank.around sending unit and somewhere else i can't track down.

The contact owns a 2005 mercedes benz e320. The contact stated that while the vehicle was parked in a residential garage, an extremely overpowering gasoline fuel odor emitted continuously from the vehicle. The contact did not detect a fuel leak. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic for diagnosis where both fuel tank gaskets were replaced. The failure persisted after the repair was performed. The vehicle was not further repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the problem. The approximate failure mileage was 75,000.

Battery light came on so it was charged then reconnected, everything good, turn key to on position everything good, turn key to start and bang! loud bang and white smoke everywhere, engine continued to smoke for several minutes after explosion, hole in front of engine

The contact owns a 2005 mercedes-benz e320. The contact stated that the vehicle emitted a strong fuel odor while the fuel tank was filled. The contact inspected the vehicle and found the fuel tank had leaked and fuel entered the vehicle and collected in the rear driver side floor. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was found that the fuel gasket had failed. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 80,000 and the current mileage 100,000.

Noticed a strong gasolineodor emanating from the rear of the car. On further investigation, i discovered that there was fuel pooling underneath the drivers side back seat and that two electrical wires were submerged in the fuel collecting underneath the seat. The fuel originated from a crack near the top of the fuel sending unit. This is a potential fire hazard not to mention the significant health issues to all passengers including the nine year old that is transported in this vehicle. This is a known issue and should be thoroughly investigated.

Fuel leak, smell of gasoline in garage. Possible leaking fuel tank, leaking fuel sending unit or fuel sensor malfunction.it is dangerous and may cause fire or explosion due to the fuel leak.it needs to be recalled to fix this dangerous issue.

I own a 2005 mercedes benz e 320.i noticed the smell of gasoline coming from the car, especially after filling up, for several months.it had gotten progressively worse over time, so i had it checked early on by my mechanic but observed no leaks.the gas vapors continued to become worse, so bad that i had to park the car outside for fear of explosion and/or fire.my gas water heater is in the garage and my childrens bedroom is above it.early on, my whole family began having headaches, nausea, and burning watery eyes.we now know it was gasoline vapors emitting from the faulty gas tank seals which are located below the rear seats.i took it to the dealer near my home; walters mercedes benz.the service agent, [xxx], called and said that the seals in the gas tank were leaking and it would cost $750 to replace them.also, the technician observed some possible leaking on another hose to the tank and it would be $2,400 to have the whole tank replaced.i found this outrageous, but had no other choice.after doing some research i found that mercedes had a recall because of the same problem to other cars similar to mine.the service managers at walters said that my vin number didn't match the recall.so, i called mb usa (800-367-6372) to have a case opened.[xxx] (ext [xxx]) is the case investigator assigned.his supervisor is [xxx]. (ext [xxx]).i explained the above to andrew h. Who stated that he would be contacting walters service department manager and get back to me within 48 hours.mb usa refused to admit or solve the problem.i paid to have the entire gas tank replaced.3/13/13 @ 9:33call from (201)476-6200mb case investigator [xxx] ext.[xxx]general number for mb 800-367-6372information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).

The check engine light has been coming on since 2008 and the fuel gauge does not show the correct about of fuel since 2009. Repairs were done but the problems was never completely fixed. Now the car is being hacked into across multiple locations by several different individuals. Besides taking control over the ,vehicle functionality, tele-aid, cd player, brakes, lock and unlock the doors at will, and the increase rf in the car, the hacker can turn on and off the check engine light and control the fuel gauge. Mercedes benz usa was contacted regarding the problem and i was told to never contact them again. They also said an attorney would send me a letter stating their position. It has been almost two years, and i have yet to receive it. The first letter i sent to the company regarding this matter was sent directly to [xxx] cannon the ceo of the usa branch. The second letter was sent to [xxx].chairman of the board of management at daimler ag and the head of mercedes benz cars in germany. A representative from [xxx].office said this problem is the responsibility of mercedes benz usa and the matter is in the legal department of mercedes benz usa. I have tried to contact mercedes benz usa after the response from germany and was told not to contact them again regarding my car.information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).

I returned from a 2 and a half week trip and started up my car (which i had filled up prior to leaving on my trip) and discovered a very strong odor of gasoline in the passenger cabin. The odor did not disappear as i drove the car.i took it to my dealer and they said the gasoline unit under the rear seat was leaking.

After filling the gas tank, i noticed a strong odor after i got home and got out of car. After further inspection i noticed puddle of gas on drivers side of car just in front of rear tire. This happens every time now when i fill up the gas tank. My short term resolution until this can be fixed is to not fill up gas tank all the way.

8/4/16 vehicle had strong smell of gas inside after fillup. Went away after half full. Noticed recall in online doc's and took to mercedes of san diego where tank mod, cable harness, bracket, seal ringx2, insulation under seat were replaced no charge under warranty.6/20/17 vehicle quit when approaching residence. Then wouldn't start but cranked. Same symptoms next day. Towed to mb san diego diagnosed fuel pump components failed $1,000 w/no offer to cover under recall. I further reviewed same internet doc's which show fuel pumps, filters, fuel level senders are covered under mb 15 yr. Unltd miles warranty. Will call service writer in morning to advise they should cover repairs, tow plus rental car while i was researchng.

The contact owns a 2005 mercedes benz e320. The contact stated that after refueling, the vehicle would emit a strong gasoline fuel inside the cabin. The contact took the vehicle to a dealer for a diagnostic test, which confirmed a leaking fuel sending unit that caused fuel to leak behind the rear seats. The dealer replaced the fuel sending unit. The passenger compartment smells like gasoline. This is due to an issue that was already investigated by nhtsa however the warranty that was extended is expired by two years. I just purchased this vehicle used and it is unsafe to drive. It did not smell like gas a few weeks ago when it was purchased. The odor is very strong in the passenger compartment.

Re complaint number 10778442since the last report the situation has gotten much worse.initially the gasoline fumes would occur while the tank was more than 1/2 full.now the fumes are very very strong when the tank is full but remain strong even as the fuel indicator nears the empty mark.this this the only vehicle i own and my family and myself cannot remain in the car for more than a few moments. The fume are overpowering and this is a majorhealth concern wise as well as a chanceof fire.

The contact owns a 2005 mercedes benz e-320. The contact stated that while driving 65 mph, the check engine warning lamp illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer. The vehicle was not repaired. The vin was not available. The failure and current mileage was 115,000.

In 2015 we started to notice the smell of gasoline following filling the tank with gas.the smell of gasoline is so strong that we had to open our garage doors to vent the fumes.no gasoline was spilled during refueling.there is no visible gas leak on the garage floor.the vehicle is a 2005 mercedes-benz e320 with only 44,000 miles.after researching this problem we discovered numerous other owners of this model mercedes have experienced the same problem.mercedes has no recall for this fuel fume defect and any repair is not within the original warranty period. Nhtsa action #ea13003 summary test & analysis by mercedes-benz shows no risks of fire or passenger safety.this is bs as fuel fumes within an enclosed area, such as a garage where a natural gas hot water tank exists, could cause a fire.nhtsa needs to require mercedes-benz to recall the vehicles affected by this defect.

After filling up gas at the gas station, i could smell gas outside and inside the vehicle. Gas smell was very strong and it was spreading in garage and inside the house. Upon further inspection, i found out that there was a gas leak under driver side rear seat. There was a puddle of gas under the seat next to electric connectors. Gas smell is very strong inside and outside the car. I could see fuel drops on floor next to driver side rear wheels.

The contact owns a 2005 mercedes benz e320. The contact stated that after the vehicle was refueled and parked, a fuel odor emitted from the vehicle. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 82,000.

I purchased a 2005 mercedes benz e320 which has been garaged and very lightly driven. (only on weekends or days off) after six months and refueling a few times i started to notice an odor of gas in the cabin of the vehicle.this odor has gotten worse and stronger over time.the odor is also noticeable in the garage as well as around the exterior of the car.this seems like an indication that more gas is present and possibly leaking somewhere near the gas tank.i am fearful of driving it as the concern over fire is present as my kids ride in the rear seat.i would appreciate someone looking into/investigating this to see if it is indeed a mercedes problem and possible recall prospect.

This car has only 43,000 miles with perfect maintenance.it has never been hit.the car is leaking fuel from the tank for no obvious reasons.the dealer says that the there was a design problem and the tank needs to be replaced for $2000+.it is a major safety issue.

My car remits strong gasoline odor each time that i refuel my tank.when i noticed this smell i thought it had to do with the gas cap.i took my car in to be inspected by a local mercedes dealership and was told my fuel tank is leaking and needed to be replaced.my car had about 45000 miles on it when i first noticed the smell. A car with that low of mileage should not be experiencing a fuel tank leak.i am serious concerned about my car catching fire and exploding.please help.

Fuel sending unit leaking fuel - strong odor of gasoline.i see that many other w211 style mercedes benz owners are complaining about the same thing.i took it into my mechanic and he says that the sending unit is leaking and this has been an going problem with these vehicle.mercedes needs to recall this for safety reasons and do the right thing.please add my complaint to the pile of complaints already received by your agency.

The contact owns a 2005 mercedes benz e320. The contact stated that there was a fuel odor in the vehicle and fuel was accumulating into the fuel access compartment under the rear seat. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the entire fuel tank needed to be replaced. The failure caused electrical wires to be submerged in the fuel. When the gas tank is full, the car smells like pure gas.i took it to the dealership to be fixed, but they did a "patch" and made the smell so bad that it gave us all headaches even with the windows down.the dealership has had my car for 3 months now and nothing has been done. Mercedes needs to fix the issue, or give me a new car!

When the strong vapor of gasoline first occurred, i promptly took my vehicle to the dealership.after examination, the vehicle required a new gasket on the fuel sending unit.this corrected the strong fuel vapor after fill-up until now.in june 2013, with approximately 73,000 miles, the strong vapor reappeared both inside and outside the vehicle.upon inspection by mercedes benz coral gables, i was told the vehicle required a new fuel tank, as there is a small crack at the top of the tank.the tank was not dropped, but rather, the diagnosis was based on previous experience by the service department.an occurrence they have seen in the amg class and appearing as well with the e class.i elected not to fix the problem as i was informed that as long as "you don't fill up all the way" it shouldn't be a problem.i subsequently called two additional mb dealers and the service writer at each business said the same thing.i want to make a formal complaint with the nhtsa so that my vehicle is logged with the many others and addressed by mercedes, as it would appear this is a defect in the design of the fuel tank or a defective part.a recall is the only solution, and if mercedes benz's reputation is based on "safety", then this is the only viable resolution.

After filling the gas tank to full there are gas fumes in the air around the car.therefore we do not fill to full.we just saw news article about fuel tank problems with mb.

The fuel tank leaks when tank is filled above 3/4 .gas pools under rear seat and leaks under car.

Strong smell of fuel inside cabin of car after a fill up. Very dangerous situation.

Had to spend thousands of dollars to replace faulty gas tank. Gas pooled under back passenger seats thatwas very dangerous.when i googled "mercedes gas tank leak" i saw many others had the sameproblem.why have the defective , dangerous , plastic tanks have not been recalled.

I brought my 2005 mercedes e320 [purchased oct. 2014] in for an oil change jan. 30, 2014.i mentioned to the service person a noise [like something broke] i heard while out of town visiting.he changed my oil and also found/replace a broken rear suspension spring. This occurred within 3 months of purchase.repair cost: $551.17. My second incident occured feb. 19th.i noticed a puddle of fluid underneath the vehicle [not sure what kind of fluid] and immediately brought the car back to the dealer for service.i was told the transmission servo solenoid seals required replacing.repair cost: $157.84.the third incident was reported apr. 21, 2014.i noted an increasingly bad odor inside the car since the first day of purchase, but wasn't sure exactly what it was as i was still trying to identify it.i finally realized it was gas i was smelling [intermittantly] inside the vehicle for the last six months.it turned out to be leaking fuel from the left fuel pump seal (lfps) underneath the rear seat.repair cost: $161.31.the fuel odor got worse after the replacing the lfps.most noticeably after filling the car with gas.i've also identified gasoline leaking from the drivers' side rear quarter that puddled by the tire.my feeling at this time, repairs may be onging for my e320, that i really like.

Sensed strong gas odor at fill up.investigate online and found that this car has this known issue but it is not a recall.? had mb mechanic look and found leaking gas under rear seat near fuel pump.

This is the second occurrence with this problem on my vehicle-the fuel sending unit is leaking once again with the first replacement occurring around 75k miles and now again at 123k miles. I will pursue some classification with this matter. Even though the fuel leakage is contained beneath the rear seat, the fumes are almost impossible to bear.

On 02/24/2014 the emission light came on.the code was pulled that informed that the car had a leak some where in the fuel system.the car was taken to mercedes benz of southmississippi, they informed me that there was a leak in the upper fuel tank under the back seat, and the fuel tank needed to be replaced. The report said: to replace cracked fuel tank evaporation system has a leak. The repair would be $2100.00 to replace the fuel tank.

Their a strong smell of gas smell inside the car

When 2005 e320 has gas tank filled, there is an overwhelming fuel odor in the passenger compartment and outside the vehicle. The fumes dissipate when the fuel level decreases from full to 3/4. Car was taken to mercedes dealer for service and this problem was listed for the repair person. They found no problem. Year and a half later, i again asked mercedes dealer to look at this issue. They said it was a leak in the fuel sending unit which is connected into the top of the gas tank. At a cost of $800, the fuel sending unit was replaced. I picked up the vehicle and the fuel smell inside the car was so strong it made me and two clients nauseous with severe headaches the following day. I returned the car to the dealer, and upon further inspection, they now tell me the fuel sending unit was leaking but the gas tank itself also is cracked and leaking which needs to be replaced for another $2,000. I opened a complaint with mercedes benz usa. After their sham of an investigation, they said they would offer me a 50% discount on the fuel tank replacement or assistance on the purchase of a new vehicle. The car now has 118,000 miles and is out of warranty. I have no choice but to make the repairs. You should not have to replace a gas tank on a vehicle of any age, and i am afraid of continued safety problems from poor engineering design with the replacement parts if the car is involved in any accident.

Very strong fuel odor from car, looked under car expecting a leak but could not see anything, researched online further found similar stories posted by other owners of this vehicle. Asked my mercedes benz mechanic, he confirmed that there was a problem with the fuel tanks on these cars and benz refuses to issue a recall on them! cost according to my mechanic is approx $2000.

Filled the car up and a strong gas smell filled the garage and my home.we moved the car to sit outside of the home, but the fumes/smell lingered for hours.this made us dizzy and nauseous.

I have a 2005 e320 mercedes benz.every time we fill the tank we get a strong gas smell inside the vehicle.after we drive the vehicle for a while with the windows open the smell dissipates. The smell is coming from under the rear seats. I suspect the seal on the gas tank has failed.this is a design flaw that should be taken care of by the manufacture.it is not a normal wear and tear item.my concern is fuel fumes can impair ones driving ability and leaking fuel can create a safety hazard. With the number of complaints that i have come across i feel that there should be a re-call to correct.

The contact owns a 2005 mercedes benz e320. The contact stated that strong fuel fumes emitted into the vehicle. The contact mentioned that nhtsa action number:ea13003 (fuel system, gasoline) was directly related to the failure. The vehicle was not inspected or diagnosed. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 133,000.

Strong gas smell in the cabin and in my garage after i'd fuel up. Researched online and found many with similar experiance.sending unit.

Noticed a strong gas smell after fill ups.brought the car to the dealer expecting it to be a seal or something but found out that the top of the tank is prone to cracking around the inlet.when the fuel is full it leaks.apparently this is a common problem with the e class.seems very dangerous to have a car that is only a few years old that has a problem with a leaky gas tank?i think it cost between 2k and 3k to replace the tank.i really don't think a car that is that expensive, that new should have a issue like this?

Filled up gas tank and had fuel odor inside car and fuel leaking outside the car until fuel level was around 3/4 of a tank.i believe that mine falls under all the other problems listed for fuel leaks for other w211 mercedes.the extended warranty for this was only allowed for original owners and not for anyone that purchased used.

The fuel pump and/or gasket is leaking gasoline into the area under the back seat on the drivers side.the first time we noticed the problem was on nov 1, 2012, but it has happened several times since then.we can no longer fill the tank to the full position without fuel leaking.we have replaced the fuel gasket, but it has since leaked again.this is a great safety concern to me, and it should be corrected by mercedes benz at no cost to me.

The car has fuel (gasoline) vapors inside and outside of the car.the fuel sending unit or the fuel pump in the saddle gas tank under the back seats leaks gasoline and the smell makes me sick.i am afraid the car will explode if the vapor is present at the combustible ratio of gasoline to air.

Had to replace my gas tank twice due to smell of gas permeating the inside of the car.it is fine now but had to have it replaced twice to fix the problem.

Hello, i was concern about my carevery time i fill up my gas to full tank every time i parkmy car inside the garage it smell gas and smell badly..imworried it might cause fire because my water heater is inside the garage..so pls. Let me know if any recall for my car..thanks

Very very strong fuel smell inside of car after a fill up.

When filled up the gas tank with gas a very strong smell of gas will be smelled every time when parked.also, in our house garage.

Began noticing gasoline smell in garage. Traced smell to the car. The smell has now intensified that i can smell fuel as soon as i exit the vehicle. The smell is nowprevalent regardless of the amount of gas in the tank! it smells really strong in the driver side rear wheel well. I can no longer park the car in my garage for fear of fire. The smell is now becoming noticeable in the cabin as well. My understanding is nhtsa is aware of the problem and mercedes benz will not acknowledge a design flaw. I suppose i or some other owner will have to go up in flames before anyone decides to do the right thing. How sad.

Squeaky front suspension.

The vehicle was then towed to mercedes-benz of buckhead (2799 piedmont rd ne, atlanta, ga 30305 (800) 399-3804) where it was diagnosed that the transmission failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact stated that the manufacturer was notified and was awaiting a callback. The failure mileage was 166,000.

Car would not properly accelerate from reduced speed. Incident occurred on three occasions. Last incident occurred on entry to florida turnpike. Car requiredconsiderably more than quarter of mile to reach 50 mph. Almost rear ended by ten wheeler that could not move to passing lane. Very dangerous situation. Dealer claimed they could not reproduce situation. Dealer found faulty glow plug. Doubtful that this has anything to do with problem. Dealer now checking problem again.incident occurred on three occasions during past ten days. Almost rear ended by ten wheeler

A little less than 2 years ago, vehicle's sensotronic brake control (sbc) system failed. It was replaced by mercedes dealer with a re-manufactured unit under the ten year warranty for that brake system. That system is very well known to break down without warning which renders car a moving hazard to occupants and other motorists. On mb forums, it is stated by commentators/owners that unit has a life span of 300,000 actuations; brake pushes. This is not anywhere in the mb literature or owner's manual. Car electronics have no meter to measure or gauge those actuations, so a catastrophic failure could occur without me the driver being prepared for it. Mercedes benz needs to warranty this safety related defect for the life of the car.

With less than 90k miles, the hydraulic brake pump went out. Mbusa knew about issues with the part and extended its warrant until 12/24/2014 but did not notify affected vehicle owners.

I was slowing down to exit the highway and when i stepped on the brakes, i felt no pressure on the pedal brakes.i pressed harder on the brakes and still the car didn't slow until i got to a slight incline at the end of the ramp.then a red warning light on the dashboard appeared reading "reduced brake power".i turned off the engine and waited a couple of minutes.i managed to get home safely.i called a certified mechanic and he told me to call the mercedes benz dealer because of a possible recall.as per the mechanic, this are the faulting codes: c2131 - pressure reservoir faultyc249f - operating time of component a7/3 (sbc left hydraulic unit) is exceededc25d5 - hydraulic fault malfunction in pressure supplyas of this writing, my brakes have not been repaired.

This vehicle is equipped with sensotronic brake control that has a service threshold. When this threshold is reached, the vehicle's brake system defaults to non power assisted hydraulic mode to the front wheels only. This occurs without any prior warning and results in greatly increased stopping distances along with much longer time interval for vehicle speed reduction due to loss of brake effectiveness. Mercedes (hereinafter referred to as mbusa for mercedes benz usa) service bulletin s142.46-p-0012a addresses this issue. Mercedes discontinued installing this type brake system on new production vehicles at the end of my 06.suggested cure - mbusa should issue a mandatory recall to interrogate these vehicles with star das to determine how close to the service threshold (i.e. Brake failure) the sbc unit is. If mbusa is unable to assure the vehicle owner that (due to the design of the system) the vehicle's brakes will not default to basic hydraulic mode for front wheels only without prior notice of imminent failure, mbusa should retrofit & replace the necessary brake system components to insure vehicle safety at the expense of mbusa. This is a major life-safety issue that needs to be immediately addressed. A major reduction of efficiency in a vehicle braking system occurring without prior warning can cause property loss, personal injury and death, especially at interstate highway speeds.

Complete brake failure while driving. Pulled out of the parking lot (brake working at this time) on to a city street. This was a divided multiple lane road, with the car traveling in the center lane. A few minutes later the car could not be slowed or stopped. An intersection with traffic light was ahead, with multiple cars in front. Switched off the ignitiom of the car to slow it down. Took a turn off at the intersection. The car ran over the curb and came to rest next to a gas station.

Was driving in my 2005 e320 w211, last week 500 am in the morning southbound towards freeway about 45 mph had perfect brakes then red warning on dash no brakes had complete brake failure went through the red light rolled to a stop!good thing it was early in the morning.. 2nd complaint i called mercedes dealer where i bought the car just got brush off as usual. Well another w211 withsbc pump failure!how many does this make! good thing not doing 80 on freeway with kids in the car!!!!!!! anyway my startech mechanic warned me about this when i called my dealer in 2013 still under exteded goodwill warranty that nobody knew about. I called and asked about recall, i was told: "nothing wrong with that model car no recal"l and now!!!never got a letter explaining the brakes could go out anytime without warning or phone call, about this defective brake pump driving around in potential death machine!!!! just really dissapointed in my dealership. I called them again telling them sbc pump went no goodwill goodheart change of defective pump and now cost me 2000.00 to fix a defective sbc pump that should had been changed before i bought the car, or corrected me when i called they should have told me there is a extended warranty i would have brought it in then! very frustrated with mercedes benz dealer where i bought my car hope this becomes a national recall before something really bad happens, most people 2nd owners are probably have no idea.

The contact owns a 2005 mercedes-benz e320. While decelerating from 60 mph, the brakes failed to engage. The brake warning indicator illuminated prior to the failure. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that the sensotronic brake control (sbc) was faulty. The vehicle was repaired. The dealer and manufacturer were notified of the failure. The dealer information was unknown. The vin was unknown. The failure mileage was 65,000.

Our car's brakes have been maintained because stopping is an essential function. E.g. Pads and rotors as needed plus fluid flush periodically. Now we've learned we may be at risk of careening out of control with no brakes - perhaps into oncoming traffic or pedestrians - just because the mercedes' sbc (sensotronic brake control) software predetermines when the brakes have reached end of service and disables them. Worse, it may do this without warning! since the warranty on the sbc was extended from 4-yr/50k miles to 10 years/unlimited, and considering the life of these cars is significantly more than 10 years, shouldn't the replacement warranty be extended further, to perhaps 15 or 20 years? or better still, shouldn't they be retrofitted with non-eletrohydraulic brakes . . . Like models prior to and subsequent to mercedes' sbc experiment? moreover, when these cars are sold, is the public on the hook for the liability of a car sold with defective brakes? e.g. One, which has brakes capable of being disabled by mercedes' software? please help!

The contact owns a 2005 mercedes-benz e320. The contact stated that when the dealer (rbm of atlanta, inc, 7640 roswell rd, atlanta, ga 30350, (770) 390-0700) sold the vehicle, the contact was not informed that it was included in a manufacturer service campaign for the sbc pump. In addition, while approaching a stop, the vehicle stalled and a red warning indicator illuminated. The vehicle was unable to be driven. The police had to assist the contact with coasting the vehicle off the road due to the failure. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and the dealer (mercedes-benz of sarasota, 4754 clark rd, sarasota, fl 34233, (941) 275-1293) advised that the vehicle be towed for diagnostic testing. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic who serviced the vehicle. The manufacturer indicated that the vehicle was excluded from the campaign for the sbc pump, stating that the statute had expired to receive the repair; however, the contact was never notified. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was not available.

I received the red dash warning at the same time as the complete braking failure (not before) and there was maybe 2% braking capability remaining (useless hydraulic fail safe). That's with the pedal on the firewall at 5 mph. Even with force enough to push the pedal into the firewall it was still a gradual slow down. This was at around 5 mph!now imagine coming off a steep off ramp from 70mph that ends abruptly and perpendicular to a busy intersection when this happens... Not good.after sitting in the car off for a few minutes i decided to start the car up again, the message was gone and full braking pressure restored.talk about a game of russian roulette, i have no idea when this time bomb is set to go off again.this is not even remotely acceptable and is incredibly dangerous. Mercedes knew this and moved back to a standard braking system in 2006 leaving very little assistance to those with the sbc modules installed. These should be replaced by dealers at their expense indefinitely. It was a terrible mistake and they admit it, now it's time to take responsibility for those with malfunctioning units and save some lives.check mercedes service bulletin s142.46-p-0012a for more information.

The contact owns a 2005 mercedes benz e320. The contact stated that while driving 35 mph, the brakes failed with the illumination of the press pedal warning light. The failure recurred on several occasions. The vehicle was taken to the dealer for diagnosis where it was stated that the switch lamp light and the hydraulics spc pump needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired and the manufacturer was notified. The approximate failure mileage was 166,000.

The contact owns a 2005 mercedes benz e320. While the vehicle was undergoing maintenance, the technician notified the contact that the rear driver side brake line was severely rusted. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of this issue. The approximate failure mileage was 81,000.

I had sudden and almost total loss of breaking.fortunately, this happened in a left turn lane at a traffic light in a rural area so there was little danger.however, it could have been much worse had this happened in interstate traffic.i was on a slight hill and was able to get the car stopped without hitting the car in front of me, but i had to press the pedal all the way to the floor.i then put the car in park to try and diagnose what had happened and then the car locked up in park so it couldn't even be pushed.the deal wound up replacing the sbc pump and the left front brake caliper which was damaged during my efforts to stop the car.the car has 110,400 miles and has been dealer maintained the entire time.

The well known brake safety issue of numerous mb cars, also called the sbc system, is cycling way to often and fear its past is predetermined "life cycles".for some reason mb puts a # of actuations on the system before is quits or must be replaced. Mb has instructed dealers to not replace the system unless a particular code shows up under a diagnostic read.problem is that from the dealer own service techs.....'failing pumps don't always throw a code that will be stored in the computer, or there is a reset facility built into the computer self diagnostic system that is to reset a code for issues with the sbc system when car is cycled off then restarted.'mb refuses to fix such safety issue if repair is needed beyond their 10 year warranty period.for secondary owners the repairs that are needed for the safety of occupants of the car and all those around them presents an issue.this is such a safety issue that mb quickly stopped producing vehicles with the new braking system even after they had touted this as being the next break through in braking for all their vehicle line.they know it is a safety issue which is why they moved away from producing it further.the problem is they are not being held responsible for replacing all 'sbc' braking systems which have an inherent defect for failures. A non safety issue i can understand a warranty recall expiration, but not for something like this.

I was driving and my brakes failed causing me to almost crash. I was on a busy interstate and had to immediately get to edge of road and turn my car off and the restart.. Took to a aoto shop. Found out that it was the sbc abs brake system. Was notified of a recall

While driving 2 days ago (2005 e320) i suddenly got a brake warning, bright red "stop" 'reduced braking power depress brake fully' and the brake pedal goes to the floor with little or no stopping action, it was very scary. I was only going with 15-20mph but there was a red light in front of me when this happened. I couldn't stop in time and had to hit the barrier to stop the car. Luckily no one is injured, but my car was a serious threat to me and others.i contacted the mb service and it is related with sbc unit and it is out of warranty. They want $2700 to fix this issue.i think mb needs to realize this isn't like the glycol contamination or something not that serious, this is a major problem in the actual braking system of the car!!! very scary and imagine those people driving these 03-06 e's, or 06's cls, or sl's that don't know about the chances of the system failing and what to do.

The contact owns a 2005 mercedes-benz e320. While driving 35 mph, the brake pedal was depressed and traveled to the floor board. The contact was able to downshift the vehicle in order to stop. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic who diagnosed that the sbc pump failed. The vehicle was not repaired. The vin was not included in nhtsa campaign number: 04v296000 (service brakes, hydraulic). The manufacturer was notified of the issue. The vin was invalid. The failure mileage was 217,000.

Hydraulic brake pump may fail with no warning, reducing braking power by 80-90%.pump has "known" service life but dealers are unable to scan for remaining life.pump failure renders the car non-drivable, with towing required, and replacement of pump is typically between $1,500 and $2,500.

After being told by my mechanic that sbc going into emergency mode he stated he thought there was some sort of recallcalled mercedes in laguna niguel told me there was no problem with that model car blow off . But there was extended warranty 10 years no letter now red warning other day and could barely stop the carshould have been fixed when i bought the car 2007 now they told me ohh there was one now expiredvery very unhappy and scared to drive now

While driving, the car's display turned red with warning message "brake defective stop vehicle"-brakes became stiff. Car was in limp mode.i took vehicle to the mercedes benz dealer in fresno.they diagnosed the problem as an "sbc brake controller failure".they told me that these had been troublesome for years, they have since been discontinued because of unreliablity of the brakes, and mercedes would not cover repair cost.

I got a message on my dashboard to visit car shop for brakes. Thinking that i needed to replace brakes, i drove it for a couple of weeks ( i hardly drive) and took it in.only to find out it was the hydraulic pump that went out and could leave me without any brakes at any second!!i had to leave it there for 4 days and paid 1544.

While driving to work the vehicle displayed several warnings of problems with sbc, abs, esp.the brakes then required a great deal of pressure to effectively stop the vehicle and the vehicle became much harder to steer.after pulling off the highway and placing the transmission in park, i was unable to get the transmission out of park.the vehicle was taken to my mechanic where they diagnosed a problem with the sbc, andesp modules.i have discovered that this is a common occurrence with mercedes benz vehicles with this braking system, so much so that the discontinued using it. This creates an extremely dangerous situation for the drivers of these vehicles and mercedes should either repair all effected vehicles or remove them from the road.

There was a message that the brakes needed attention. I could feel something inside the brakes.i took it and they replaced my brakes, but the issue kept happening.then one day, while going 55 miles an hour, the brakes would not fully operate.the whole dash went red and it came to a slow stop.luckily no one was immediately in front of me. We called the dealership and they said they had a 10 year recall of the sbc unit but i don't see the recall anywhere.this is a serious issue!

The contact owns a 2005 mercedes benz e320. The contact stated that when the brake pedal was depressed, the vehicle hesitated to respond and an extra effort was needed to stop the vehicle. The failure occurred without warning. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the brake assembly needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 115,000.

Driving down the road at highway speed and red warning lights come on and no brakes

This vehicle is equipped with sbc - sensotronic brake system. Rolling at city speed limit, the brake pedal suddenly went to the floor with no advanced warning causing me to use the transmission and emergency brake to bring the car to a stop. Seems to me to be a serious safety issue with a mercedes benz who don't want to have anything to do with it in terms of repair cost

The contact owns a 2005 mercedes benz e320. The contact stated that while driving approximately 60 mph, the abs warning light illuminated. The failure recurred several times. The vehicle was taken to the dealer for diagnosis. The mechanic stated that the abs control module needed to be replaced. The vehicle has not been repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the problem. The approximate failure mileage was 70,000.

I was stopped at a light (luckily) and my car started rolling forward.i pressed the brakes harder and they went to the floor and the car continued rolling forward.i threw the car into park and turned on my hazards.the police showed up.he tried putting the car in drive to get it off the road but it wouldn't go into gear.my husband showed up, turned the car off and then on and the car was able to be moved to a close parking lot.when we brought it to a mercedes dealership, they found codes (c233d, c22bc, c23bd, c223c, c26de, c25d5) for pressure system failure and pressure failure to all four tires at the same time.we were told that the brakes needed to be flushed before any sensotronic warranty work would be reimbursed.so we paid $465.99 to have them flushed and were told that the system was retested and no problems were found.i was given instructions by the technician that when this happens again, brake early and press the brakes really hard.if we get a different code next time, they will be covered under the warranty.we have been in contact with mercedes andthey have referred us back to the expertise of the dealership.

The contact owns a 2005 mercedes benz e-320. The contact stated that a warning message illuminated on the instrument panel stating 'reduced braking power'. The vehicle was taken to a dealer, where the technician diagnosed the spc control unit needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 25,070.

The contact owns a 2005 mercedes-benz e320. One day after the vehicle was serviced for routine maintenance, the service brake warning indicator illuminated. The vehicle was returned to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the hydraulic brake pump was defective and needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The contact referenced nhtsa campaign number: 05v133000 (service brakes, hydraulic), but the vin was not included. The failure mileage was approximately 154,809.

The sbc braking system totally failed while driving. Dong road at 35 mph only way to avoid running into someone or cars was to drive this into tree. I could have killed someone or me. The problem is the same with all these models. Their needs to be a recall on theses models before to many people die. This model is know to have complete brake failure especially on the mercedes forums. Someone can inspect the vehicle because i can wait to fix to make sure this can never happen to anyone again or cause a death.

The contact owns a 2005 mercedes-benz e320cdi. While driving 60 mph, the brakeswould not operate when the brake pedal was depressed. The brake warning indicator illuminated. The vehicle was towed to a local mechanic where it was diagnosed that the hydraulic brakes failed. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 115,000.

I was driving 40mph on a city street, when the car dash flashed in red, "brake malfunction, see workshop soon".a red light was coming up, so i went to press brakes & absolutely no brakes!i swerved in a church/school parking lot to my right so i wouldn't go further ahead & be in a major intersection.because of the quick turn, i hit a tree in an island, which stopped the car, but totaled my car.i had my car for 12 yrs & always serviced it & had it in excellent condition & no recall, etc was ever on this car for this deal. My husband looked on line after & saw others had the same thing happen, with same make./model & older miles.

The contact owns a 2005 mercedes-benz e320. While driving at an unknown speed, the brake pedal was depressed and failed to respond. In addition, all the warning lights illuminated. (this is an from a letter i sent to mercedes benz)i have had a recent experience with my mercedes benz 2005 e 320 diesel that i would like to relate. While driving in cincinnati last week,i was on a semi-rural road doing about 25-30 mph and suddenly got a beeping and red light flashing alarm on the instrument panel indicating that my brakes were failing. Luckily i was able to slow down and turn into an apartment complex driveway and bring the car to a stop.the pedal went all the way to the floor and had almost no stopping power, if any. I turned off the ignition and waited a few minutes before re-starting. The car re-started but would not come out of park, so i could not move it out of the driveway to an adjacent parking lot.the brake alarm and warning continued after re-starting. I called my mechanic in cincinnati (precision motorcars 513-271-5565) and arranged to have the car towed in.after analysis by them, they determined that the sbc hydraulic braking unit was probably defective and was a mb warranty item. In the meantime, they replaced my front brake pads and rotors. The car was then towed to mercedes benz of cincinnati (where i had purchased it in february 2008). They replaced the sbc and got the brakes working correctly again, under warranty and at no charge to me. This event has certainly shaken my faith in this car.what kind of car gives you a warning that your brakes don't work, and then you find that they do not.if i had been in a different driving situation, such as coming up to a red light at 30 mph,i might not be writing this letter today.

The contact owns a 2005 mercedes benz e320. The contact was driving approximately 25-30 mph when a beeping noise sounded inside of the vehicle with the illumination of the brake warning indicator on the instrument panel. When force was applied to the brakes there was minimal response. The contact pulled over to the side of the road and the vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic who stated that the vehicle be repaired by the dealer. The vehicle was then towed to the dealer where the sbc hydraulic unit was replaced under the service warranty. The failure mileage was 99,264.

2005 mercedes benz e320. Consumer states brake failure *tgwthe consumer stated the brake failure occurred as she was driving 65 mph. The dash lights including the brake light lit up on the dashboard and the vehicle began to decelerate.the consumer applied repeated pressure to the brake pedal which finally stopped the vehicle nd had the vehicle towed. The brake sbc system needed to be replaced

Traveling down steep hill at 45 mph.attempted to apply brakes as i approached a stop sign at bottom of hill.braking system totally failed as a warning light read "braking system failure - service immediately"attempted to apply brake manually but did not have to strength to push the pedal hard enough to stop the car at that speed.i manually downshifted the carand it slowed to about 10 mph and i coasted it onto the shoulder of the main road and was then able to stop the car with the brake pedal manually.after turning the car off and restarting, the brake system worked again for a few minutes and again failed.apparently a computer malfunction.

The contact owns a 2005 mercedes benz e320. While driving approximately 65 mph, the vehicle began to decelerate and the brake system failure light illuminated on the instrument panel. There was repeated pressure to the brake pedal which stopped the vehicle. The vehicle was towed to an authorized dealer where the vehicle was repaired under recall 05v133000 (service brakes, hydraulic). The current and failure mileages were 90,798.the consumer stated the brake failure occurred as she was driving 65 mph. The dash lights including the brake light lit up on the dashboard and the vehicle began to decelerate.the consumer applied repeated pressure to the brake pedal which finally stopped the vehicle. She had the vehicle towed to the dealer where it was determined the brake sbc system needed to be replaced.

My mercedes e 320 had a recall because of a defect in brakingin 2006> i brought the car in to repair and it was the same.. I brought it back and they say it is the front rotor , which is not under warranty. The car has 16000 miles on a 2005. I do not believe the rotor could have a problem with such low miles . I think they are trying to not be responsible..the rotors on a lease car should be warranted...

My vehicle has had a serious steering problem to the right from day 1 of driving vehicle off the dealers lot.it has been in the service dept. For 5 to 6 time for the steering problem and pulling to the right.the dealership located me another vehicle a month after purchase,.i test drove the vehicle with the salesman, he put my name in the window of the upgraded vehicle and the pickup date.when i went back the next dayto pick up the vehicle, the salesman and service manager would not let me have the upgraded vehicle as promised the day before.todate, i am experiencing same pulling problem to the right, and on a summary report given to me by the dealership, there has been extensive damage to the right side of the vehicle in february 2008 a month before i purchased the vehicle.i need help in investigating this vehicle.

The vehicle smelled like something was burning and the steering wheel squeaked.the dealer was unable to find any defects after servicing the vehicle.

On a right turn the rack and pinion mechanical part failed. Steering became extremely difficult, and almost caused a move into oncoming traffic. The mechanical failure caused a blow back of fluid with metal filings into the power steering pump. The pump overflowed onto the belt. The belt then stressed the water pump until it too was broken. $8,000 worth of damage.

There was a reflector of the window on the driver side that reflected in the side mirror.when the consumer rolled the window downthe reflection was gone.the reflection of the dashboard was also seen in the window.*sc

Drivers front coil spring failed while vehicle was parked in driveway resulting in drivers front shock/strut damage.removed affected parts in place.broken spring had a point defect and stress lines visible to the naked eye.owner has custody of failed parts.ambient temperature at time of failure was ~70f. Had this failure occurred while driving it would have resulted in loss of vehicle control.

Purchase this car in february 2017 smells like gas is seeping out from somewhere. Stopped in themiddle of highway. Now having problems with starting car and airbag suspension light is on.

Squeaky front suspension.

Srs warning light on.replaced seat control a 211 870 05 26.no help.service technician could not find the problem.service decided to replace entire seat frame at a cost in excess of $2,800 including parts and labor.srs code was identified when the car was stationary and just started in enclosed parking space with door open.

I made an appointment with mercedes of little rock and referenced mfg recall # 2019120012 and nhtsa recall # 19v918.when i showed up this morning at the dealership service center, i was told there is no recall on this vehicle.i attempted to show them the webpage information with my phone and they said if it doesn't show under their vin lookup, there is nothing they can do.is there a way to appeal or other recourse?thank you
