I had a brand new mercedes benz 2007 clcs 550 expensive car close to 80k. Well i took a ride to maine with my friend. Got stuck in to a snow storm. Car lost control andgot to accident car was found totaled, none of the air bags was deployed, front,back,side none of it. I was badly hurt2-3 months later i had to have surgery on my shoulder i was out of work for a 11/2yrs. My friend was hurt in his groin area. Until today i have pain in my whole right harm . I have nervesproblem. And take pain medicines. Mercedes think nothing was wrong with the car. That the car was performing perfectly. The air bag didn't have to deploy after the car hit heads onandthen the passenger door on the side of the highway so hard the window was broken still no air bags. I've been asking mercedes benz for the past 3yrs for some explanations but haven't. I after my surgery couldn't work for a year. I am self employed. I end up loosing everything cause i couldn't work spend all my savings lost my condo, broke up with my girlfriend . And was on pain medicine i was suicidal at times. I've got a lawyer but he couldn't helped could find a good technician for my case. So it was dismissed.so i re appeal it. It's at the boston superior court. Merdecdes assist tech told me probably the heat coil sensor is defected so ii couldn't stated when the engine is hot. The carhad been towed to am service center for to be checked of thesudden loss of power of the engine.

When i came back outside, the fan was still going and still loud. This had never happened in the five years that i had the car. The car would not start. I had to call someone to boost it off to start. I then went to the shop to check to see if i had battery or starter problems. No problems found in either. This has happened twice since then. I am afraid that the car will catch fire with me in it or my family or friends.3rd issuei was driving along and the dashboard read out in red to stop the car ..vehicle is too low... When stopped, i noticed that the passenger side of the car was low and the driver side is raised high. I have to sit there for a few minutes until the red lights went out. This happens often.4thtire pressure light stays on. I took it to check on pressure, it was ok. I did not need new tires either. The yellow light stays on and this week the red light popped on and will not go off. 5ththe check engine light stays on and mechanic can not find the problem. 6thsteering systemloud popping noise when i back up or turn steering wheel. Bought this certified cls550 from keyes european mercedes in van nuys,ca on 11/23/2009 with 42000 miles as soon as i got the car home i noticed the fan was overly loud and my temperature gauge was reading 110. Called dealership they said fan motor on these cars are all extremely loud and temp. Sounded okay. Two weeks later i was driving when i was alerted to turn off engine immediately due to car seriously overheating. Dealer said it was the thermostat bad on car. Also been having trouble with the transmission since i bought car. Keep in mind i have only had it for about 47 days now. The same time thermostat was replaced they said a component in the transmission was bad and replaced it. Have had my car back for 4 days now and the transmission no longer slips, but is jerking hard into beginning gears. Will be taking car back to be checked again!
Catastrophic failure with sudden loss of power and inability to proceed at more than 20 mph. It has now recurred twice and vehicle flatbedded to agency. Has been in shop for six days with no repair. Service manager denies that this is the second failure because his diagnostics were unable to determine the problem the first time.
My husband and i purchased the 2007 cls550 about september 2015. We noticed when filling the vehicle with gas, we would have gas fumes in the vehicle specifically on the passenger side rear inside and outside. The fumes were light and would dissipate once the vehicle was driven to reduce the amount of gas in the tank to about three-quarters tank. Last week we filled the tank and the small is now stronger and has yet to dissipate although we have a quarter tank of gas remaining. I checked for any recalls on this since we have no knowledge of the vehicle having been in any accidents, but find we do not. This online search did not reveal any recalls for the gas fumes, but i noted there are multiple complaints about the same problem for this year, make and model of vehicle. Have any people died from this, any fires, accidents as a result? we have not yet, but will be taking our vehicle in for evaluation of the problem and would be able to provide documentation of the results in the future. Given the name, i am surprised mercedes is not stepping up here!
When i fill up my car with gas there is a strong gas odor around the left back seat on the interior and around the left rear wheel on the outside. After further investigation i found gas leaking around the left sending unit / pump. This is a serious design flaw as the sending unit / pump is made of plastic and servers a structural member to suspend the unit in place. The presence of gas fumes in the interior is a fire and human health hazard and the gas fumes on the outside of the car is at minimum a fire hazard. This appears to be a common defect on mercedes cls and e-class between 2004 - 2008. Thanks for your assistance in this matter.
I filled my car up sunday and parked it in the garage, the following morning there was a strong fuel smell that permeated the garage and all around the car. I looked for leaks found none. The smell was coming from under the seat on the drivers side rear. I reviewed some online forums and noticed this seems to be a common occurence with these vehicles. This is very dangerous and a saftey hazard.
When i fill my vehicle up with gas, the fumes fill up my car and my garage. After i drive my car and the gas goes down to 3/4 a tank, the fumes reside. I can only fill my car up 3/4 of a way without the fumes entering my car. I took my car to the dealership and they removed the back seat and saw that the gas was filling up under the seat. They found a leak at the fuel gauge sending unit. The sending unit needs to be replaced.
I had filled my car up with gas the night before i noticed the incident. The next day when i went inside of my vehicle it had spelled horribly of gas, so bad i was getting light headed from the fumes and had to keep the window's open to air out. But the smell has remained for a week now.. I located the source of the smell coming from the rear seat on the drivers side, i removed the rear seat cushion and it smells as if it was doused with fuel. Even with the seat removed the smell remains. I proceeded to look online about common issues for this problem, i noticed a recall on the fuel sender unit for previous years but not the 2007 model of my vehicle.i have seen many people complain of this exact issue for the 2007 model. I called the mercedes dealer about the issue and they say there is no recall for my model except for the camshaft selenoid.this is a highly important issue that should be looked into, i have my children in the car at times. I have made an appointment with the dealer to further look into my problem but i think this should be investigated and reported as a recall since others have the same issue.
2007 mercedes benz cls-550, fuel system leak, 24,272 miles, towed to dealer, dealer claimed that fuel sender cap was very loose, dealer replaced gasket for fuel sender. Fourteen days after, refilled car with gasoline, had a fuel leak again, drove to local repair shop, mechanic foundfuel leaking fromfuel sender housing the plastic plug used to mount pressure sensor for evap. System, needs replacement of fuel sender.

Check engine light came on. Reads p0456 evap small leak detected. After filling gas tank full or anything over 3/4 full. Strong gas fumes smell inside and outside of car. Checked top of fuel pump under rear driver's seat. Fuel was puddled on top of this unit. (i have pictures if needed) replaced fuel pump seal ring and gas cap with new parts. Problem has came back with more check engine codes and strong gas smell/fumes inside car. I believe e-class 03-06 have same safetyissues, and hope my 07 cls550 will be included in a possible recall, etc. As i believe the cars use same parts/platform. Refer to: nhtsa# pe12001.

Hi i have 2007 mercedes cls550 79000 miles.i had the car for past 2 years are week ago after refiling the gas tank are strong gas smell appear inside the car and out side also.i was worry for my safety and i start reading about the same problems and current campaign and recallformercedes e class w2112003 to 2009 soiremove my rearpassenger seat to locate the pump and the sendingunit there was big puddle of raw gasoline inside the cabin around 200-300ml there was so much there the wires for the pump and sensors was under the fuel.i called the dealer they refuse to do recall for my carmy car use the same gas tank and same pump and sending unit like e class from 2003 to 2008.. So if one part is defective(the gas tank) will be still defective if mercedes put in different model car.my car is not safe any more im scary to drive it any more .

When i fill my tank to under 3/4 there is no smell.i have researched this issue and apparently there is an on going investigation by nhtsa regarding the eseries mercedes which has this problem.the cls 550 is on the same platform as the e series.i have called the dealer and am playing phone tag with the service department.please include the 2007 cls 550 in your investigation.

I am referencing action # pe12001. After each of my last two fuel filllings, the car is emitting a very strong smell of gasoline from the back seat & trunk compartment. I park my car in my garage and the smell is strong enough that i can smell it in my home. I am extremely fearful that there will be a fire. I do not desire to park my car outside, but i believe the car is unsafe to keep in garage. I have lost confidence in my car fearing that even driving it around town could pose a danger to me and my passengers.

I did not know where were the fumes coming from at the time. Got a headache just for the moment i was trying to determined where were the fumes coming from. This is currently for all drivers and owners a very hazardous dangerous condition to all extremes, very high risk from ignition from static or electrical, due to wire hardness in the area. Vehicle was towed and took it to mercedes benz dealer and found the following:leakage in fuel system.replaced fuel tankfuel tank drain/fill observed accident prevention regulation "12 wl08"fuel tank and fuel for storagebring observe accident prevention regulation "12 wl08" performed by mercedes-benz of new orleans.fuel tank leaking in the interior was found / was drained & refilled and fuel tank replaced. This was cover under a new settlement with mercedes benz and nhtsa. I think that this should have been a recall when it relates to safety factors.

Upon smelling gasoline when the auto in question was filled, we were directed my mercedes dealership on west sahara in the city of las vegas in the state of nevada. The owner replaced the gas cap. The auto in question continued to smell of gasoline off and on. In september of 2014 the auto displayed a signal at the engine needed to be looked at. The auto was taken back to mercedes on west sahara and the owner was informed that there was a fuel tank leak. Due to the quote of $3500 to fix the issue, the auto was taken to g&g auto and authorized mercedes repair shop in las vegas. The lead mechanic confirmed the fuel tank leak and showed the owner how the gas pooled on top of the tank which is just under the back seat.obviously a huge danger.the owner of g&g autoshop informed the owner that this is a very common problem and alerted us to the documentation on the internet regarding class action law suits. The owner contacted mercedes head quarters in new york city and well as the general manger ofthe west sahara service center. The owner was told that the car was no longer under warranty and they would not repair the car unless paid.the car was ultimately repaired at g&g auto shop.

There is a fuel leaking into the backseat of my 2007 mercedes benz cls 550 i began noticing the smell in my car a few months ago and i finally decided to remove the back seat, under the back seat lies the fuel tank and a fuel filter module which is leaking and creating a small pool of fuel and a fuel scent in my car. Incidentally mercedes had a recall on the mercedes benz 2006 cls (voluntary emissions recall campaign #2008-020001) my car is a mercedes benz 2007 cls with the exact same problem. I would like to file this complaint and ask that you help me in getting mercedes benz to take responsibility for this faulty fuel filter module and initiate a recall to repair this problem. After doing some research i realized that many others have had this problem, and that there is even a class action suit open for this same type of defect in another year and model mercedes. I called to file a claim with mercedes usa, and they said that this is not something that they would cover the repairs on. I can't believe that mercedes usa wouldn't cover defect repairs for an issue many people have had, especially with the health and safety risks associated with gasoline leaking from the gas tank, as well as the gasoline fumes leaking into the cabin of the car. I hope there are enough people that voice their similar experience so that a government investigation can bring out the facts of this obvious defective issue. Long term effects of gasoline fume inhalation are suspect to cause cancer.
Defective internal speed sensor does not send signal to tcm(transmission control module) causing loss of power while moving. The only way to get car going again is to shut off car and restart hoping it will reset. If this were to happen in construction zone with nowhere to pull over, may be deadly.

Transmission went into 'limp' mode and check engine light lit. Many other mercedes owners reporting same problem with the 722.9 transmission valvebody, conductor plate, and/or tcm.this should be investigated as countless other people are reporting this same issue for several years now.

I was driving and the car sensor popped and it said stop vehicle too low...when stopped, i saw that the right passenger side looked like it was dropped right over the wheel...the rest of the car was raised.. I tried everything the manual said, nothing work.. I can hear a compressor working.. I have seen many a few blogs on the internet with people complaining about same issue.my vehicle has 47,000 miles. And it seems to be right when the problem occurs.
