Pulling into parking space car accelerated and hit tree.air bags did not inflate and satellite did not notify police.could not stop vehicle.myself and 2 other people were injured.similar situation happened earlier this year when vehicle would not stop, struck car in front of me, air bags did not inflate and satellite did not notify police.in both instances there was extensive damage to my vehicle, the most recent over $20,000.the car is still in repair shop 4 weeks after accident.i am afraidto drive the car because i am fearful the same thing will happen.

2006 mercedes benz cls500.last night while pulling into a parking spot located in a commercial building, the car suddenly accelerated forward and hit the office wall greatly damaging the driver's front side.i had already eased up on the gas pedal hardly pressing the gas as about to stop the car and place it in park.i filed the claim and know that this looks like i accidentally pressed the gas instead of the brake.however, the acceleration was rocket-speed.once i got home, i realized the same thing happened a month back (jan - the week following christmas).i was backing out of a parking space with the back of the area where i had parked completely free when suddenly the car jolted back (again at what seem rocket-like speed).i applied the brakes and stopped the car.the car in the past as jolted in the process of acceleration feeling like it is almost "stuck."i did not have it question the first incident further because i had not been driving the car long - it is my husband's car and he now has a demo from work.also, the air bags never came out although the impact was heavy.i am very concerned - even if the car can be repaired, i have reported my concern to my insurer.i could have done much more damage than i had done and am worried now that it has happened twice.i have emailed mercedes waiting for their response, but i found other people with similar complaints including #10206072 that is almost the same case as mine and the same year and model car.

Brakes keep going out. Brake pedal going to the floor. Esp light comes on and car throttling to a slow creep even on the highway.extremely dangerous for me and my wife and child.

Driving at steady speed, tried to brake- brake pedal sank to the floor, driver's side front wheel locked up- no apparent braking actually happened, despite pressing on the brake pedal. Locking up of driver's side front wheel caused total loss of vehicle control, causing a 360 degree spin. Car malfunctioned afterwards, could not drive until turned off the engine and restarted the car. There were no warning lights afterward- no brake light, no check engine light, no error message in the dashboard relating to brake failure.

The car gas sensor was not working. Vehicle stalled in the middle of busy intersection gas tank read that there was 1/4 tank. Could have caused a major collision. Problem with the fuel system, tank and sensors. This is the 3rd time. Fuel module not working correctly. All repairs have been done through mercedes dealership. This problem needs to be looked at i could have been killed. The system was replaced by mercedes twice. On going smell of gasoline.

I bought the used mercedes benz cls500 2006 just four days ago. In the dealer notes , it said there were no electrical issues and the car runs smoothly . I test drove it , and it did . But now , this is the 4th time the car failed to start. Sometimes it doesn't start until i turn the key about 20 times. Yesterday , the car stopped on the road while i was driving it. Luckily , i managed to restart it and drove home . And the car won't start again . Please help.

Several times i have noticed a strong odor of gasoline inside the car after filling up at the gas station.i have noticed several other complaints of the same nature.i noticed a recall # 2008-02001 seems to address this mercedes-benz issue but am not sure it applies to the cls500.i think it applies to the cls550 and the e-type but it should apply to the cls500 since the underpinnings of this car is the e-type.please assist as i would like to have this safety issue addressed by mercedes-benz and judging from the number of complaints feel that mercedes-benz should correct this apparent defect at no charge.

Smell of gasoline. Fuel tank leaking. Sensors faulting.

Fuel sending unit leaks after filling up gas tank. Holds the raw gas in top of sending unit. Causes inside of car to fill up with raw gas smell, gets really bad on hot days. Smells like raw gas in garage. Fuel sending unit is under back seat behind driver, which could be very dangerous.

After i fill the cls500 mb tank with gas, and drive into the residential garage, an hour later the garage is filled with raw gas fumes.if i don't fill the tank completely, it seems to be okay.sometimes the fumes enter the home, and my guests can smell them.it's quite embarrassing when you own a mb.the guests leave right away.

Leaking fuel from crack in fuel tank. Service advisor at local mercedes benz dealership states crack is from seal found on top of tank. Required replacing of fuel tank and fuel pump seals fumes from fuel seeped into vehicle and back seat cushions with very strong smell of fuel. Seats still smell like fuel, thus car with smell of fuel. Very uncomfortable with burning sensation to nose.service advisor states this is second incident with cracked fuel tank this year.

Very strong smell of gasoline. Car fuel tank reading incorrectly. Fuel sending unit leaking. Raw fuel leaking.

Bought this car less than 30 days ago and it has very strong gas smell every time after refueling inside and outside the car...i have to leave my garage door open because of the strong gas fumes in the garage that also creep into the house!!

Very strong smell of gasoline. Car fuel tank reading incorrectly. Fuel sending unit leaking. Raw fuel leaking.

After filling my car, i started smelling a gas odor coming from the driver side back seat area when i reach home about 2 miles away from the service station where i filled up. I figure the smell would have go away but everytime i drive my car i can be assured to smell that gas odor in the rear driver side passenger area which now is very annoying for a car i paid so much money for.....

Bought the 2006 cls 500 2 years ago, since that second day i have issues with sbc module, i call mb dealer they told me my car was out of warranty, since the production date was 2004, okay after that i try several other mechanics and nobody have the star tool to fix up, the car is not safe to drive and i continue take the risk couple months until the fuel line starts leak on the pump, this could generate a spark and burn my car, i call again mb dealer and they told me is probably unsafe to start the car.after all this years i parked the car and all my suspension was broke as well, call again the mb dealer they estimated $ 1800 to replace the air shocks, so i buy from arnott the same mb sell and i replace all 4, so the car is up again, next week i decide to sell the vehicle after driving in 3 years 9,000 miles only, try to move the car from the garage, guess what, my transmission go to limp mode because the breaks are not working, so far i decide to write in here to complain why a such beautiful car have so many issues and mb does not care for the old mb. I almost get on accident when my breaks complete frozen to the end !!!

Very strong gas smell inside the car and outside the car. Gas leaking on the floor from gas tank area.

Strong smell of gasoline in interior of car along with smell in garage after overnight parking. Checked engine for leaks as well as general tank area. Negative. I think that the fuel sending unit (under rear seat may be loose or defective. Can't over emphasize the strong gas smell, while stationary--seems to dissipate on movement.

When fuel tank is filled completely there is an extremely strong odor of gasoline inside and outside car. Fuel pump has been replaced and the fuel tank seals have been replaced multiple times with no improvement. Gas cap warning light now comes on intermittently and check engine light remains on. Have been advised to replace fuel tank now.

Fuel pump leaks and vapor smell is very prevalent. Fuel tank assembly has been ordered, but apparently mercedes is very slow on shipping the parts because there are so many cars with this same problem. Besides the smell, i think this could be dangerous. I have always been told that where there are fumes an explosion is possible.i have been told that parts have to come from germany since no one in the states has them. Mercedes should be ashamed and held to a higher standard.

Just like the other mercedes vehicles, the fuel pumps are under the back seat. My daughter rides in the back. One morning i wake up and my car smelled as if someone poured gasoline all throughout the automobile. I let the windows down and took my car to american auto tech where i spent over 700.00. It took over 2months to get the smell out of the car and i had to replace the cover and lining that separates the back seat cushion portion from the entrance of the fuel pumps that sit under both back seats of this car. This is not only an issue with the e class but most mercedes made through out that year. I have a receipt in which i have paid and feel that mercedes need to compensate me and others for this defective part or fuel leakage. It even leaks from under the car. This is very dangerous to my family and others around.

In september, 2015 took my vehicle to houston greenway (3900 southwest freeway;houston, texas 77027) for an inspection of the fuel tank (strong fuel odors were detected).the inspection revealed that the fuel tank required replacement.the replacement work was done and i paid for it out of pocket. I recently received a letter from mbusa stating that the mbusa had elected to extend the warranty on my vehicle

I filled my gas tank and drove home, parked in the garage overnight. The next morning i entered the garage and was overwhelmed by the smell of raw gas. The garage was closed and it contains a hot water heater which could have easily lit the gas fumes and started a fire or explosion. My 2 kids' bedrooms are above the garage. Through some checking, gasoline seems to be running out of the top of the gas tank when it is full. It is not coming from the fuel pump module seal. This is both dangerous and a pollution and health risk. I just bought the car, so i don't know how long the problem has existed.

Through some checking, gasoline seems to be running out of the top of the gas tank when it is full. It is not coming from the fuel pump module seal. This is both dangerous and a pollution and health risk. I just bought the car, so i don't know how long the problem has existed. He told me that is the problem with the fuel sending unit is leaking underneath of the seats.he also told me that he just fixed two cars with the same problem.there is also a recall campaign number (2008-020001) out here stating the same issue, but mb at arlington told me that it will cost me to get it fix between $400 to $730 and my car is not cover under this recall.he pulled up the vin of my car and told me sorry that your car doesn't have any records for recall.so, i took my car back and asked him to provided me the cost estimate, i called the extended warranty and it is not cover under my basic plans.so, i drove the car home, smelling like the i have being showered by the smell of leaking fuel.i also, gave a call to mbusa and file my complain, and someone checked my vin and told me that my car doesn't cover under the recall, but she will put the file together and will bring it up to the upper manager to review the case and told me that someone will give me a call back on monday since they are closing on the weekend.the warranty doesn't cover the sending units. By now i have all my research handy (and have already priced out the replacement of both units - $2,000) and said "well there's been a recall for this exact issue on this exact car, it's a major safety concern that's why i want to share my problem with other people on the matter." i provided the recall campaign number (2008-020001) and advise her please let them know of the pledged to look into it. Wish me luck :(.

I began smelling fuel in the cabin of my car and contacted the mercedes benzdealership in my area, westminster, co.the woman i spoke with told me that she was unaware of any issues, but that she would look into it and get back to me.i never heard back.the smell was getting worse and after 3 weeks, i could not drive with my windows closed, gagged when i got into the car and smelled like fuel upon exiting the car.i called mercedes benz again and asked if i could bring the car in.i was told i could and that there was a warranty extension for faulty fuel tanks.the fuel tank was allegedly repaired, but upon returning the car to me, the car still smelled like fuel.i thought the smell might dissipate over a few days, but it did not, seemed to get worse again, so i took the car back in.i was told by the service rep that the fuel had leaked into the underlayment of the car and was deteriorating the floor boards.i was also told to "not smoke in the car" by the service rep.mercedes benz is now refusing to repair this damage caused by the faulty part. They feel that the car is "safe" even though i was told not to smoke in it.i don't smoke, but if there is an electrical spark or i get in an accident, i don't want the car to blow up.

Brakes keep going out. Brake pedal going to the floor. Esp light comes on and car throttling to a slow creep even on the highway.extremely dangerous for me and my wife and child.

I was entering onto a highway (100).at the point of the highway i was entering(from cty rd 81) it opens the highway to a 3rd lane on the right side of the highway. At the same place it opens the highway up, there is an immediate exit(42nd ave). As i am accelerating to highway speeds, just prior to the new lane availability that drivers must enter to get off on 42nd, my car starts chiming and there's a red warning on my dash that states "stop, reduced braking power. Depress brake fully." or something quite similar. There is no shoulder, i'm going like 10 mph, terrified. People are honking and trying to get over to get off on 42nd ave in a lane where i'm going 10 mph and they were at a speed of approx 60 mph(posted hwy speed). As i limp my car past this exit to a shoulder i then attempt to brake and have no braking power. I eventually rolled to a stop. Turned my vehicle off to determine my next move. I turned the vehicle back on to see what exactly the warning light said- there was nothing there. Tested my brakes a little on the shoulder and they were fine. I was able to drive the rest of the way to my destinations without any problems. This has since occurred a couple more times. Through a trip to the mechanic and thorough research it is determined the problem lies in my sensotronic brake pump. This is a pump that mercedes warrantied for 10 years due to this issue. This will occur to all other drivers of this vehicle that haven't had this part replaced. I never knew of the safety issue with the braking system until this problem occurred. I would have replaced it years ago (under warranty at the time of replacement). My children's lives, my life, and the lives of all the drivers on the highway that morning were placed at severe risk. This should have been recalled and still should for all of the other unsuspecting drivers- for their safety and others on the road.

The mercedes-benz cls 500 has a issue on sbc module that occur on models like mine, this sbc system cannot stop the vehicle and mb know this occur and is replacement only, they do not replogram to clean the error.

I own a 2006 mercedes-benz cls 500 4 door i took to mb dealer to check for any open recall on sbc breaks and the the answerby mb was that my vehicle manufacture date was past the recall on the breaks.my vehicle that i pay top money is not safe to drive, is parked into my garage for almost 12 months, i keep looking for sale and when the mb dealer see the brake red light on dash, they walk away with less than $ 3,000 dollars for my vehicle that i paid $ 18,000.mb estimated around $ 4700 to fix my vehicle. The sbc module needs to be replace complete to be reprogram again and be a safe drive vehicle.my wife e-500 also have the same issues and they said the same, but doe s not show any recalls on the sbc module.just wondering why mb do not fix the problem and let the owners like me continue on the mb family.

I was exiting the highway when i began to push on the break pedal it went all the way the the floor. Good thing it was a little traffic because i was going about 40 mph so i was able to turn off the highway in the grass and stop. But this is a major safety issue and this could have well ended bad for me. Without warning the brakes just stopped working and gave the error 'depress brake pedal stop vehicle'

The contact owns a 2006 mercedes-benz cls500. While driving 70 mph, the "reduce brake" and "stop the vehicle" indicators illuminated. The vehicle was pulled over to the shoulder lane where it was able to restart and resume normal operation. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 170,000.

Sensomatic braking control has been observed to have failed. Related brake warning light inhibits the car from braking properly or driving at a comfortable speed. Brake wire has been replaced and brake pads and the problem still persists. There is a recall on this that i was unaware existed. I need help. I'm in a dangerous situation that is unsafe for me and my family. Braking the vehicle takes considerable amount of pressure and seems to be delayed.

I was driving and the reduce braking light came on.i pulled over stopped my vehicle because it stated that i needed to do so, restarted the vehicle and tried to make it home.i began to loose control of the steering and even though i was pushing the brake pedal to stop, the pedal went to the floor.i was in rush traffic and so scared that i would hurt someone or myself.i recently had my brakes and rotors replaced, months in advance.i barely made it home and since then i have tried to take my vehicle to the shop but in doing so the same problem arose.again, i was frighten to put it on the road i placed it back in the garage.please help.i am not understanding why i am having these problems.i brought the car in september of 2013 and this is the only major issue i have had.i love my car.i also read that in 2006 some type of braking system was discontinuedand that there was a recall on the sbc pump.

This vehicle is equipped with sensotronic brake control that has a service threshold. When this threshold is reached the brake system defaults to non power assisted hydraulic mode to the front wheels only. This occurs without any prior warning and results in increased stopping distance. I have sent a copy of the mercedes service bulletin s142.46-p-0012a which addresses this issue. Mercedes stopped installing this system in 2006. At the very least, mercedes should issue a mandatory recall to interrogate these vehicles with star das to determine how close to the service threshold the sbc unit is and replace them at the dealer's expense. The warranty has been extended to 10 years, unlimited mileage, so mb knows of the defect. Unfortunately, many vehicles are outside this 10-year window, yet the problem should be fixed.this is a major safety issue that needs to be addressed.

Brakes on 2006 mbz cls 500. Replaced twice with brand new brakes from mbz dealer, drove less than 3000 miles, brakes squeak like a train three weeks after each installation. Dealer wants to wash their hands by saying its normal. How can brand new brakes squeak twice after new replacement and very few miles of driving? they really need a check up andrecall. Its ridiculous for new brakes to squeak that loud, you can hear me from another corner.

I was driving down i-10 on wednesday, september 8th, 2010 between 5:10 and 5:15 p.m.and all of a sudden my car took off at speeds over 100mph out of control. I was able to get the car on the shoulder of the interstate and come to a complete stop. I was horrified and could not believe what had just happened.it is a miracle no one was killed or injured. My 14 year old son and his friend were in the car during this whole ordeal. I called my husband and he advised me and the kids to be calm and to turn the car off, which i did. I then described to him in detail what had just happened. After about 60-90 seconds later, because the heat inside the vehicle was unbearable, i turned the car back on to get some air. The car then violently leapt forward with the gear shift in park position and took off for another 50 yards. I was able to use the brakes to get the car under control once again. At this time i turned the car offand screamed to the boys " get out of the car". After the car was towed to the dealership their service people experienced the same nightmare as i did. My car almost hit another car on the lot when it once again lunged forward out of control. The car has been "repaired" but i will not put my family in it again. Googling this problem, i found several similar reports, and wanted to make sure mine was filed as well so maybe mercedes will recognize this is a serious, life threatening problem.

Based on my personal experience and those of other mercedes owners of the same vehicle that i have spoken to over the years as well as mercedes service department employees , i know that this car has a long history of blowing tires, damaging rims in low speed pot hole incidences.the rimscrack and the tires blow . This is dangerous and very expensive to repair or replace.

The contact owns a 2006 mercedes-benz cls500c. The contact stated that when it rained, it felt as if the vehicle would flip over. The contact felt that the vehicle needed an alignment and stated that the tire tread was worn. The contact drove the vehicle to prestige auto mall (1501 vernon odom blvd, akron, ohio, 44320, (330) 634-9999), but was not diagnosed. The dealer refused to repair the vehicle because the contact did not sign unknown paperwork after purchasing the vehicle. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and did not assist. The failure mileage was 141,849.

While driving on the freeway at 65mph, i heard a loud thump. Immediately exited on the nearest off ramp, thinking that i had a flat tire. I checked and could not see a visible hole in the tire. When the tire was removed, the shop indicated that there was a huge rip on the inside of the rim.me being confused, i advised him that i did not hit a pot hole, the technician indicated that he can tell the was the metal was ripped, and the tire was not punctured.i immediately contacted the dealer that i purchased the car from and needless to say that they were no help at all. I have only had the car for 1 month.

Normal driving on illinois highways and streets. Drivers side front wheel/rim cracked, i feel this could lead to lose of control of the auto and a serious accident. Purchased new rim and installed. Defective rim is in storage.
