While parked i started the car and placed an item on the passengers seat. Immediately the srs light came on. The srs has detected something wrong with the airbag system and shut the airbags off on the car which is an extreme safety hazard. After taking the car to the mechanic i was told code 9223 and 9080 displayed. 92 23 states that the car needs a contact reel at steering wheel (part $410/labor nearly $300) and 9080 states the passenger side seat bottom needs to be replaced (part $1690/labor nearly $300) . I believe this should be a recalled item because numerous mercedes benz have this issue and the repair cost is extremely high. Please investigate this safety issue. Due to the extreme cost for repair, i am driving an unsafe and hazardous vehicle. I am sure, i am not the only person in this situation.

Warning message displayed, "srs restraint system malfunctionvisit workshop"upon investigating this error message on the internet mercedes benz forum, i have determined the following:1. This is a very common problem, affecting several mb models, including the e-class, c-class, slk, clk, and possibly others.2. When this message appears, the driver air bag is most likely disabled.3. Mb service bulletin pb-91.60/93d acknowledges this problem as a design or assembly error, and recommends replacement of a wiring component in the steering column.4. Mb service personnel are often unable to make the proper diagnosis and fix.5. Many mb vehicles are being driven daily with this problem, due to the cost ($700.00) and inconvenience of taking the vehicle to the dealer for problem correction. Due to thepotential for personnel safety due to failure of the driver airbag in a frontal collision, and due to the apparent frequency of occurrence of this failure, corrective action should be initiated by mb in the form of a mandatory correction.

The car-seat occupancy mat sensor which is built into the front passenger seat bottom is defective. The mercedes dealer told me that the replacement part is not available and the only way to fix the problem is to completely replace the seat at great expense. I was also told that since the srs system warning light is on the entire airbag system is disabled. In the event of a collision the airbags will not deploy. I also had to replace the clockspring in the steering wheel which was also causing the srs light to come on. The parts and labor bill was over $600.

Bought the car in july 2013 third brake light lens fell off.i checked my brake lights with someone pushing the brake pedal and observed the electrical component dangling loose inside trunk third light space but no cover lens. Didn't notice the lens had fallen off until several strangers tailing me told me. I know there is a brake light issue that is being recalled on a different mercedes model and year. I was thinking that perhaps my vehicle might have the same issue. So i googled this issue and to my disappointment found many more mercedes benz owners had the same problem as me. The reason its a disappointment because mercedes benz vehicles are highly regarded as the most prestige vehicle let alone one of the costly cars. Who would have imagined such small overlooked detail came off the assembly line. As a further insult mercedes benz refuse to acknowledge this as a problem and compensate its customers.

The contact owns a 2006 mercedes benz clk350. The contact stated that the passenger side seat belt warning indicator was illuminated. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 70,000. Updated 5/19/15the consumer stated after filling the vehicle, gas fumes became very strong in the garage and inside the house. Updated 7/1/2015

2006 mercedes clk350 convertible- about 45, 000 miles on it, bought as a used car in sept 2009.the headlights were left on all day and drained the battery.the battery was recharged.the check engine light came on and stayed on. I would drive about a block or two and the second time i put on brakes, the eps dash light would come on and the engine would die.the engine could be restarted and the car driven (including the freeway), but the eps light would come back on and kill the engine, after more braking. The car died, on the way to the stockton, calif. Dealer,as i braked on the off ramp as i braked and almost caused a serious rear end accident by the car following me.additional, the side driver window that automatically drops down when the door is open, would not automatically go all the way back up when the door was closed.i took to the dealer for repair. I was told the windows needed re-syncronizing.that there was a miscoding in the computer, which needed a software upgrading.i asked why other mercedes owners were not informed, but got no answer. I also asked to have the manufacturer representative contacted, since the warranty expired only two weeks prior. I was told they would not, since the manufacturer would not pay for any computer upgrades. I was not told of any recalls, yet there appears to be a possible related computer recall bulletin for improper coding. The dealer did the resync and computer upgrade and the car is back to driving normal.

I've just bought the car and it has only 70k, the engine doesn't want to go, it stalls but there is no check engine light on, i'll be driving and the car will just die, or start to diminish, and gas consumption , now all my lights fail, high beams, low beams, turn signals, brake lights one after another, so i go to auto zone to purchase lights and one of the associates comes to help me, he stares that all the we ires are exposed,

1) check engine oil level message displayed2) stop vehicle3) engine oil consumption test / cylinder test / sensor testoutcome: mercedes is working hard to design a new sensor for this car. A few hundred other people have had this experience and there has not been an official recall. (per fletcher jones motor cars, newport beach, ca).

The dealer sold the car without disclosing the multiple safety issues pertaining to the car; such as, the supplemental restraint system, control arms, ball joints, engine instability, emissions deception, and odometer accuracy, and flood damage. During the generation of the purchase, the dealer insinuated the car was never involved in any accidents but the vehicle's history reported 3 that i discovered 'after' i purchased the car. Regarding proof of engine instability, i could not upload the video on this form.

The contact owns a 2006 mercedes-benz clk350. The contact stated that the vehicle was equipped with a faulty balance shaft, which ultimately caused premature wear. After the vehicle was serviced for regularly scheduled maintenance, the check engine indicator illuminated. The vehicle was taken to mercedes-benz of orange park (7018 blanding blvd, jacksonville, fl) where it was diagnosed that the balance shaft needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 30,000.

After only 80,000 miles, my $55,000 car now needs $5,200 worth of repairs to fix a known defect in the balance shaft. Without this repair, driving my car is unsafe, yet mercedes is not offering to help fix a problem they created.add my name to the long list of mercedes owners dissatisfied with the quality of a mercedes; their failure to take responsibility for their mistake and their total lack of concern for customer satisfaction.

Clk 2006 defective balance shaft/timing chain: purchased our car new, have maintained it at the highest level, all recommended repairs and services completed when recommended and due, all done at the dealer where we purchased our car. Check engine light came on a few months ago, felt like the car was running rough, had it towed to the dealer, we were told there was nothing wrong. Without warning, on july 18, 2013 the check engine light came on again, took it in to the dealer, was told that the balance shaft w/ timing chain needed to be replaced it is a defective part. Mercedes is aware of the problem will pay for the parts; $1,700, however at this time has not allotted funds to cover the labor, which they need to do to make this right, total quote $7,300.at this point we do not know the extent of the damage to the engine.people buy a mercedes because they are the best and a the leader in the industry. I expect them at the least to cover all expenses related to the defective parts or pay us the purchase price of our car so we can start over.

Mercedes benz vehicles manufactured between 2004 & 2007 & equipped with mercedes' m272 have a faulty balance shaft which was not properly anealed, causing premature wear. The subject engines were manufactured with defective gears in their balance shafts. These defective gears wear out prematurely, excessively, and can cause damage to other expensive engine components without warning. Repair requires removal of the engine and was quoted at $7000-$8000 by the mercedes benz dealer. Most other import shops do not want to even attempt the repair due to the complexity and special tools required. A class action lawsuit was settled on this issue several years ago (we were never even notified) but only those who had the issue at the time could take advantage of the settlement's discounted repair costs (it was a terrible settlement!). We did not have the issue until a few months ago at around 77000 miles.this problem can cause the engine to misfire, stall or break down completely. Mercedes benz and its dealerships basically say, oh well, you got a lemon. We also cannot possibly pass the emission test without repairs that cost more than the bluebook value of the car - which has been dealer maintained and garaged since purchase. We believe this balance shaft manufacturing flaw presents a major safety issue and should be subject to a mandatory recall and repaired entirely at mercedes' expense.

Check engine light came on and mercedes dealer replaced camshaft sensor the vehicle had 52500 miles. Check engine light came on again i took it to an independent repair. They stated it is the same problem the camshaft problems. The vehicle has 68000 miles now and this should not be happening to this vehicle. It continues to have problems and i have contacted mercedes and they refuse to take responsibility for these premature issues i am having with this vehicle. I would like the government to put in a lawsuit for me and make it a class action law suit against mercedes because there are several consumers with this very same problem and mercedes isn't doing anything about it.

Check engine light came on in my 2006 mb 350 clk. Took to a mechanic was told it was a balance shaft issue and would cost about $5000 to repair.

2006 clk 350 coupe / check engine oil levels (message). I've owned my car since march 18, 2007. I'm writing to inform you that i have received a message three times stating "check engine oil levels"the message came on for the first time in july 2007. I drove the car back to the dealership where i bought the car from and i arrived at the service department 15 minutes before they closed and they didn't have time to look at my vehicle, so they placed oil in my car and turned me away. Thankfully a very professional young man from that same dealership rectified this experience for me and had a talking to the man that turned me away. My car was misdiagnosed.a week later the same light came on. Check engine oil level. At this moment in time, i call mercedes benz road side assistance. I pulled the car over and explained the situation. They asked me not to add any oil and to take it to the nearest dealership. I took it to md san diego. They conducted and oil consumption test to find what was wrong and they asked me to come back in 1,000 to 1,200 miles or if the light came on. August 7, 2007 - i was near newport beach, and the light came on again. So i took it to the dealership where i bought it from and they had to re-do the oil consumption test because the test needs to be conducted at the same dealership each time. (i questioned the validity of this statement). They instructed me to come back in 1,000 - 1,200 miles or when the light came on. I brought the car back in 1,000 miles (august 2007)to the newport beach dealership and they couldn't find what was wrong with the car and mercedes benz wouldn't authorize the (warranty) work for the engine to be taken apart to find out where the oil is going to. It is now november 19, 2007 and the same light came on again. I have scheduled an appointment to bring my car back in. Hopefully they can solve the problem this time, or it might be that i have been sold a lemon.

Check engine light and balance shaft concern.

The '06 clk 350 i am about to purchase was taken in for inspection and diagnostics for the cel.the dealership told me that there is a problem with the balance shaft, which would eventually lead to misfiring and other engine problems.i do not know the history of the vehicle prior to this, or even when the cel first came on.i am being told that the engine must be removed and torn down to repair this problem, and the cost will be upwards of $4000.it has less than 54000 miles on it.

Check engine light came on in my 2006 mb 350 clk. Took to a mechanic was told it was a balance shaft issue and would cost about $5000 to repair.

Similar to the gas fumes leak experienced on the e class, our 2006 clk class suddenly emitted gas fumes originating from the gas tank after the tank was filled with gas.

Vehicle was purchased from an authorized mercedes benz dealership and was a certified pre-owned vehicle.automobile was garage kept and primarily driven to work with highway miles.only premium non-ethanol mixed fuel was used from shell.suddenly, one day, strong gasoline odor permeates garage.most noticeable with full tank.the cause was a fuel tank sender unit.a plastic diaphragm within the unit developed a stress crack right at the boundary between two faces.it is clear that proper bonding between the two was not ideal during molding.fuel would egress out this crack located under the back seat and on-top of the fuel tank.$1000 was recently spent on the replacement of sender unit.some fuel odor still persists within vehicle.this was clearly a manufacturing defect and surprising considering the low miles and years on the vehicle.regardless of ramifications, gasoline of sufficient quantity in places unintended, shows poor workmanship.thank you. Updated02/14/13*ljthe consumer stated it appeared the plastic vessel itself was made by a tier supplier in germany. The leak stared from the seam.

The contact owns a 2006 mercedes benz clk350. The contact stated that when refueling, gasoline fumes filled the inside of the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to both the dealer and an independent mechanic for inspection. The vehicle was inspected and was diagnosed as having a defective ring around the fuel pump and tank. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the incident. The approximate failure mileage was 56,000....updated 10-24-13 the consumer stated gas was visible on the top of the tank where the electric wires connect to the gas pump. Gas flows over the exhaust pipe and onto the ground. Updated 11/1/2013

On december 9, 2016 i took my 2006 mercedes-benz clk350 to the dealership because of a strong odor of gasoline coming from the back seat area.the dealership found the fuel smell was coming from the left rear fuel sending unit leaking. Although i was aware of the extended warranty agreement between mercedes-benz and nhtsa covering leaking gas tank components on mercedes-benz cars, i was informed by the dealership that the agreement did not include gas tank leaks on my clk vehicle, despite the fact that the same gas tank leak was covered on other mercedes-benz vehicles. Thus, i had to pay for the expensive repair out of pocket.i am requesting that nhtsa amend your prior agreement with mercedes-benz to include additional models such as my 2006 clk 350 which have developed similar leaks in their fuel tank components.

Fuel leakage/puddling out of top of left fuel sending unit, most notable after filling tank. Noticed at left rear tire well of car on outside only.initially thought that the gasket on the sending unit was faulty (fuel staining noted on top of sending unit)so replaced gasket with initial improvement of problem. After several months problem appeared to recur but now clearly worsening. Fuel smell had until recently only been noticeable after parking in garage after filling tank, most recently noticeable in open parking lot after filling tank. Improves when tank less than 3/4 full. Recently removed inspection cover under left rear seat about 30 minutes after filling tank. Fuel appears to leak out from under the electric connection on top of the 2" diameter plastic disk, or at the edge of the disk, on the top of the sending unit. A 1-2 ml puddle of fuel develops within 30 minutes of filling the tank.

I first thought someone had been stealing my gas until my car started to smell like gas. If i give someone a ride in my car, they make comments about the smell as soon as i start to drive. My coworkers have noticed the odor in when they pass by my car in the parking lot and the spots that it leaves on the ground. I took my car to the mechanic and he said my fuel pump is leaking on to the top of my fuel tank at an excessive rate and is not safe to drive. My car only has 84,000 miles so i did some research on recalls. Mercedes has extended warranties on several models from 2006-2009 but mine is not on the list. My car has the same problems as the other vehicles effected. What can i do next?

Driving home on freeway at night, car shifted unexpectedly at high speed. Check engine light immediately came on. Came to stop exiting off freeway and car would not move, turned off and turned back on engine was able to limp home with check engine light still on. Towed to mercedes and was told it was a "defective" speed sensor also was told this malfunctioning sensor could not be replaced in and of itself and that the whole valve bodywould have to be replaced at a cost of $2200 for a 2006 car with 58,000 miles on it. By virtue of the fact the sensor was defective shouldn't mercedes have replaced this at their cost?"transmission electrohydraulic unit replaced at a cost of $2200 with 58,000 miles"

My mercedes 350 abs brake system failed and caused very rapid acceleration. I avoided crossing a busy intersection and crashed into a beverly hills lamp post which caused over $25,000.00 damage to the post and my car. Mercedes not accepting any responsibility.
