After obtaining emissions test 12/26/2018, several car failures began to happen while stationary at testing center. While in motion that day, several lights began to stop working. In january 2019, while driving the power steering failed causing me to be unsafe as i could not brake, gas or turn wheel. The block affected all items above, excluding wheels & visibility, but due to limitations i was only able to select 3

Takata recall. The contact owns a 2014 mercedes-benz cla250. The contact received notification of nhtsa campaign number: 19v010000 (air bags) however, the part to do the recall repair was unavailable. The contact called mercedes-benz of monterey (498 fremont st, monterey, ca 93940, 831-264-9888) and the dealer was made aware of the issue. The contact stated that the manufacturer exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was made aware if the issue. The contact had not experience a failure. Vin tool confirms parts not available.
Air bags: frontal- sounds like the airbag lock spring is broken for no reason. I can hear the click when i turn. The digital dash reads "front left malfunction" and won'y go away no matter what i push. It also has an electrical system: starter assembly issue- the engine or transmission won't turn over a lot due to it. My car only had 40k miles.
On mar 6 2017 my airbag light came on, i called fletcher jones on elston in chicago, and let them no my light was on, they told me it was a charge for this.i told them anytime theres a problem with airbag i shouldnt be responsible for that, they argued me down and made me pay almost 800.00 now i get a letter saying its a recall on the airbags,i call and talk to sandy in customer service and she tells me im exactly right they shouldnt charged me. She told me when i receive my recall letter i should be able to get a refund. So now i talked to dan hoffman and he tells me she shouldnt of told me that because there fixing a differentpart. But it shouldnt matter anytime your airbag is not working thats on the manufacturer not me. So they refuse to give me my money back.
Right air bag malfunction error and check engine light for crank case. This is a very common problem that mercedes explained to me and also told me to check back for recalls because their vni system will probably show one

The contact received notification of nhtsa campaign number: 19v010000 (air bags) however, the part to do the recall repair was not yet available.the contact called the mercedes-benz of chandler located at 7450 w. Orchid ln, chandler, az 85226, (480) 470-8687, and it was confirmed that parts were not yet available for the recall repair. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue. My sister was driving across town and came across some uneven payment near a construction zone. She hit a small-medium sized pothole and it somehow triggered both the front and rear passenger airbags to deploy. There was no damage significant impact when it happened and no damage to the exterior of the car (tire, wheel, fender). It happened today (saturday) so it was taken to a local independent repair facility. Will know more monday. Parts available for inspection upon request, of course.
My son had to be cut out of the seat back because it was too tight and wrapped around him. The seatbelt strap was locked and would not extend out at all to loosen for extra length on the strap. The seatbelt strap was so tight my sons stomach was was cinched to the point where he couldn't breath. I'm not sure why the suspension on the strap was locked every other seatbelt had extended strap. This was a scary experience and could have severely hurt my son. This is unacceptable for the price i paid for this vehicle and not to mention my child's safety. I didn't take any pictures of the strap around my sons stomach because he was in pain and was frantically trying to get it loose and cut. I have pictures of where i had to cut the seatbelt. I also have a defect with my electrical which i causing my battery to die. The car will stay on completely without the key in the ignition or started. I have video of that as well. This is completely ridiculous for a luxury vehicle. My main concern is the safety of my passengers andy son simply unbuckling a seatbelt and getting strapped in because the suspension of the strap would not loosen and was locked is unacceptable. I tried everything to putting the car in drive pressing the brake to see it the strap would unlock and nothing worked. My son was in pain because of this defect o had to cut the seat belt strap off frantically.this is not okay!
The contact owns a 2014 mercedes benz cla250. The contact stated that while driving at approximately 55 mph, the vehicle stalled after the inoperative mode warning light illuminated. The vehicle was able to restart but the failure recurred. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where the failure was unable to be duplicated. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 3,700.
Pre-safe function message and esp lights appeared and the car stopped allowing me to accelerate in the middle of traffic.i had to try to move over to the side of the rode.after moving to the side, i turned off the car and turned it back on. It worked after that.
While driving my cla that i have only had 4 months the car turned off and said it's inoperable! i was almost hit multiple times, when dropped it of at dealer they wouldn't even give me a loan. I bought this car brand new!

Purchased a mercedes cla 250c, and have had it became inoperative while driving on the beltway in washington d.c. Traffic, and more recently on the i-5 in san diego on 1/21/2017 during rain at speeds of 60+ mph in heavy traffic. The vehicle decelerated quickly and lost speed. The console popped up flashing message 'pre-safe functions limited' on the console. The vehicle did not respond to accelerator. After coasting to the right shoulder i was hit, by a passing car, and the motorist kept on going.this had happened about 10 time, and i bought the vehicle new. Mercedes aware, yet they would not do anything because they said if the engine light is not on we cant diagnose it.
Driving vehicle home on i-95 southbound at night. The "eco" drive blanks out, a message "rescue" appears, the speed decreases until stops, even though the motor is running. If you turn the engine off, wait a minute and then re-start, you can drive it again. It happened eight times to me between fort lauderdale and miami.
The contact owns a 2014 mercedes benz cla250. The contact stated that while driving at approximately 55 mph, the entire instrument panel illuminated and the vehicle stalled. The vehicle restarted after one attempt however, the failure recurred. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 57,000.
While driving 30 mph i received a red parking brake error and my car began to be very difficult to steer. I then pulled over and received a yellow pre-safe mode error which illuminated the check engine light, abs light, parking light. I took it took the dealer and was told it was a right tire sensor. This appears to be an ongoing problem with these cars and it's definitely not safe. This definitely needs to be recalled.
While driving the vehicle suddenly the accelerator started to have a delayed response. Pressing the accelerator would not do anything for between 3 to 5 second after the car was stopped. After the delay, the car would respond and was drivable, but after every subsequent stop, the 3 to 5 second delay would return. This continued for the 20 miles that i drove to the dealership to have them look at the car and repair it. I believe this unresponsiveness of the accelerator to be a dangerous condition as it prevented me from being able to driving normally and could have prevented me from moving my vehicle if it was stopped and a situation required it to be moved quickly. At this time this occurred the following warning lights appeared on the dash. The check engine light came on. The esp warning light came on, the esp system "off" light came on, and a message stating that "presafe functions were unavailable" appeared on the dash board computer screen. This was the second time this happened to me. The first time was at the beginning of april. I pulled the car over. Restarted the car and the condition fixed itself. This time, restarting the car did not clear the condition.
I lease a 2014 mercedes benz cla250.while driving at 70 mph, the engine stalled as the message board displayed inoperative pre safe functions limited see owners manual. Additionally, the vehicle failed to accelerate. The vehicle was diagnosed and repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 1600.
My class c 250 2014 vehicle. Diving long distances on the interstate started hearing loud static over the speaker system. The radio was not on. The noise turned into a loud screeching/ static noise from speakers with an electrical burning smell filling the car's cabin. I pulled off-highway, turned the car off, the noise/ burning smell did not stop. I let the car sit for about 1 hour. After the car was turned off for 1 hour, the noise /burning smell stopped. This has become an ongoing issue; i have taken my car to the mercedes dealership. They have stated it could be the "star service" electrical problem, but no guarantees; in my complaint, there were no rectifying of on issue. My fear is electrical fire, while traveling. I commute by interstate daily.
I was getting off work and i was about to get out of the garage and i drove for about 100 yards and i getthe check engine light on, power terain light on saying disabled and on the dashboard it said inoperative see operators manual and also pre_safe functions limited. It was going back and forth between these two. When i was driving going about 5mph, the car would speed up by itself without me touching the gas pedal, then it would slow down and speed up again. It was like i was learning to driving stick shift, stop and go, except the car was doing it by itself. Then i parked the car, and the arrow in tachometer was going up and down. It would go to 1.5 and then drop to .5 every second or so. Then i stepped on the gas and floored it while i had it on park and it did nothing. I shut it off and started it again to see maybe it would get fixed but it didn't. I left the car there overnight and the next morning when the tow truck came i started it, and only the check engine light remained on, everything else was gone. I drove it for about 500 yard to get it out of the garage to make it easier to tow. I have heard many other people had some issues with 2014 cla 250
My car was purchased 8/2014 from mercedes benz of henderson nv. This car has had problems the1st day of owning it. This car has been in and out of the shop so many times that i have lost count. I have a folder as thick as my bible. Mercedes won't claim it as a lemon and this car has been in the shop for the same problems with additional problems every time it is taken in. The dealership will not exchange it for a equal car without the option of renewing another lease and increasing the payment. I have experienced hazard lights on the first 30miles. The electrical went out/warning flashers/malfunctioning/inoperable the car has died driving which put mine and others lives in danger. All i'm told is i am sorry. I am drained with dealing with the dealership and going through all of their turnovers with mngmnt. Pablo rodriguez was a gem along with butch who did nothing!!every code that was dcmntd was deleted from the memory. My car was recently in again with inoperable/malfunctioning display/acceleration/pre safe system error in which they said they fixed but less the 24hrs the same problem occurred. The dealership had my car from june 24th to july 10th and same issues but new error messages. I have been without a car since i picked it up and the dealership will not do anything about getting it in sooner then the 25th. They don't care at this dealership nor does mercedes corp. Hrs & hrs of wasted time talking to people who can do nothing.no calls from anyone, i received surveys in the beginning that were never addressed i know that because of my feedback. Ive never experienced anything like this before and it is so disappointing. Overall it has a been the very worst experience that ive ever had owning a car!!! or mercedes that is.
The contact owns a 2014 mercedes-benz cla250. While driving at various speeds, the inoperable pre-safe warning light illuminated and the vehicle began to stall. The failure was persistent. While the accelerator pedal was depressed, thevehicle failed to accelerate. The vehicle was able to restart. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where it was diagnosed that the pins failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified. The failure mileage was approximately 24,000. The vin was not available.
I was driving on a main road when suddenly the car shuts off completely. I could not get it to start, nor put it on neutral gear, to at least push it away. A message in red pops up on the screen that says "service required, do not shift gears, visit dealer". I could not push the car at all, because the gear shifted automatically to parking and it won't move to neutral.i was stuck on the main road for 15 minutes. I was lucky not to get hit or run over by the incoming traffic. I caused a panic on the street because i was blocking it. Fortunately, a police car showed up, and the officer helped me by diverting the traffic away from me.i had the car checked two months prior to this incident at the dealer, and they told me that there is nothing wrong with the car, and that they have updated its software to the latest version. I had the car towed back to mercedes-benz now, and will wait the results.
I was driving on a busy surface street in los angeles when my car lost all acceleration and the message popped up, "inoperable, see manual".i tried to push the gas pedal to quickly move over to the right lane where i could put on my hazard lights but i could not accelerate.i turned off the car quickly and started it again and it went back to working for now.i am terrified for this to happen again, especially because if it happened on a los angeles freeway, i could easily be killed.i am 8 months pregnant and fear for my safety and the safety of my child.
Driving on interstate at 70-75 mph engine lost power without warning and speed reduced to 30 mph with no response from gas pedal. A semi ran up behind me and swerved to the fire lane. This is the third incident in one month. The other two were at 45 mph. Each time i was able to pull over and stop the car. Once it is started it runs at full power, until it decides to stall again. I had the car towed to dealership and will not drive again. I could have easily been in a serious accident. I am in discussion with gm at dealership to work something out. I will be unable to sell this car later in my opinion based upon the commonality of the problem, yet the dealer acted like they had never heard of it. I should have googled it first and then reminded them of the issue. This is unacceptable.
Cars eco button fuses . Electrical fuse . Car stalls doesn't drive well since i bought it from mercedes dealership
Traveling approximately 15mph and slowly accelerating, vehicle became completely unresponsive to throttle input, and engine remained at idle speed. Displayed showed the messages "pre-safe inoperable" and "see owner's manual." after the engine was shut off and restarted, the car drove normally.it was taken into the dealer for inspection and repair, and was returned to me after the service adviser advised me that they could "find no codes."the very same error occurred a few days later.this time the service adviser said that error codes were found, that there was a "conflict in the programming", that all of the hardware checked out, and that "reprogramming the module" will fix it.36 hours later it occurred again.this time the adviser said that a mercedes benz service database indicated that the problem was with a wiring harness in the throttle, and that replacing that harness will fix the problem.
I just picked up my car from mercedes service today, 7/10/2014 for the issue described below.it had been in service since 7/1/2014.the service representative said that it was an electrical issue.one part they needed was back-ordered and unavailable from mercedes so the mechanic rebuilt the connection.that still did not stop the fault code so in consultation with mercedes the service department replaced additional electrical components and believed they resolved the issue.the exact same incident occurred today, approximately 30 minutes after picking the car up.while driving under normal conditions the car stalled with no warning.a number of dashboard warning lights came on including the parking brake, traction control, abs, engine, tires, airbag, etc...there was a red message in the information display that read "service required.do not shift gears.visit dealer.", that alternated with a yellow message that read "traction control inoperative.see operator's manual."i was able to coast close to the curb to move out of the traffic lane but the car would not turn over.a flat bed was called to take it to the mercedes dealership.
While traveling at 50mph down a busy street during my morning rush hour commute, the vehicle cut off all power and went into "pre-safe mode" which is commonly known as "limp home mode."when this happens, the driver has no ability to accelerate and if the driver is unable to pull over in a safe area, puts them at extremely high risk of serious accident.this is a common problem with many mercedes benz vehicles that are equipped with esp (traction control).a simple google search of this issue will validate this as a widespread major design flaw in mercedes benz products.please take the time to look into this extremely dangerous problem, as many other mercedes owners have experience this in more dangerous circumstances (on the highway).
While driving the other day i opened the sunroof when it suddenly made a strange sound and stopped. When i tried to close it i noticed that the left side was raised but the right side was down. It made a whirring sound and moved a little but refused to close. When i got home and looked at it it looks like the windscreen has come loose and looks like it was pushed forward and broken by the linkage that makes the roof go up. It looks like the linkage is bending forward when i suspect it should bend backwards. This has been happening since i bought the car in 2016. Sometimes it opened and while driving i'm afraid it might blow out into the high way. Causing an accident
Today i was driving in a parking lot and approached the light to exit and my dashboard lit up with a presafe system failure, system is inoperative and my car slowed down considerably when i tried to accelerate. I pulled over and turned the engine off and then on again and the error cleared. This is very dangerous if it happens on a highway or while driving on a crowded street. I called the dealer today and was told if the error was not currently on the dash they could not do anything. I explained that this was unacceptable and they needed to look at the car. God forbid i am on the highway and it disabled. Last week my brother-in- law saw the same car disabled in the middle lane of the highway. I hope mb fixes this problem fast before someone is seriously hurt.
On september 10, 2014 and september 21, 2014, vehicle 'pre safe functions limited, inoperative' light comes on the vehicle and the vehicle loses power. Both times driving approximately 50-60 mph. First time driving on street and was able to coast home. Second time i was on major highway....very dangerous! unable to accelerate both times. Took vehicle into local dealership on september 11th, they were unable to replicate issue and returned car. Did not drive vehicle for 1 week due to travel, returned and within 2 days of driving the car, error message returned and i was unable to accelerate car. To get the car to function, must turn the vehicle off and back on and then it drive-able. Vehicle is currently back at the dealership for repair. This issue actually occurred several weeks prior but i did not report to the dealership because the light came on and quickly went back off. Also experienced slow acceleration issues when moving from a complete stop.
While driving under normal conditions the car stalled with no warning.a number of dashboard warning lights came on including the parking brake, traction control, abs, engine, tires, airbag, etc...there was a red message in the information display that read "service required.do not shift gears.visit dealer.", that alternated with a yellow message that read "traction control inoperative.see operator's manual."i was able to coast close to the curb to move out of the traffic lane but the car would not turn over.a flat bed was called to take it to the mercedes dealership.
Bought brand new cla250 a year ago and driving last week on the high way and "inoperative mode" went on and you lose all acceleration power. After i pulled over finally restarting the car a few times i regained acceleration. Currently at dealer being assessed
What is the problem-pre safe malfunction errorwhen does it happen-while drivingis it predictable-nois it safe-nowhy-the car suddenly loses acceleration ,when the pre-safe error comes on.scenario-driving a cla 250 at 60 mph on a motorway on a quiet road in front of a truck....pre-safe malfunction kicks inthe car slows down and loses accln.the truck driver cannot predict this behavior a this is not a normal pattern to slow down suddenly from 60mph on a quiet freeway.very very dangerous.
Right air bag malfunction error and check engine light for crank case. This is a very common problem that mercedes explained to me and also told me to check back for recalls because their vni system will probably show one
Pre safe functions limited light and inoperative traction control light comes on car immediately loses 50 percent power and will not accelarate. 15 times in a 1yr period. Dealer doesn't see a problem..today for the 5th time i was nearly hit by an oncoming vehicle. Two weeks ago problem occured while i was in a funeral procession going through an intersection the vehicle behind me had to swerve to avoid a rear end collision..i do not feel safe driving a car i paid 50,000 for..
This is actually the third time that this happens to my car but this time i was driving on the freeway and it was a pretty scary experience. I was driving on the freeway at about 60 mph. All of the sudden, my car lost speed and power. A warning message showed on my dashboard reading "pre-safe functions limited see operator's manual" at this point my car was still running but at a low speed and i could not accelerate. I was driving on the fast lane of the freeway. I put my emergency lights on and likely the car behind me noticed that i was having issues with my car. I turned off the car, waited about a minute and turned the car back on as i had done this the other two times that this had happened.once i turned the car back on, i was able to drive home. However this was a very scary experience as the car lost speed and the car behind me could have rear ended me.another issue with this car is that the engine light has come on about 3 times in the last month after receiving a warning message "inoperative".another issue "hazard warning flashers malfunctioning"i have left a message to take my car for service. I am waiting for a call back.
Inoperative - pre-safe functions limited - i've had this error come up 3x so far, it happened 2x just last night on a 10 minute drive. First time was on the freeway, had to pull over to the shoulder and restarted the car. The 2x other times happened last night, driving 10mins in the evening, both had to pull over and restart. The second time, my check engine light came up. I hope this is addressed quickly as i can see that the complaints are piling up on here.
Driving on highway in left lane doing around 60mph and car goesinto limp mode taking away all throttle control.i was forced to coast across lanes narrowly avoiding a collision and managed to pull into a bus stop.i learned that limp mode is to protect the car from further damage but the safety of the driver should come first. There should at least be some kind of advanced warning to pull vehicle over before it shuts down.this is completely unacceptable and endangers the life of the driver and other drivers on the road.
Summary:pre-safe function limited message and esp lights appeared on the dash and my car stopped in the middle of the highway. Almost got taken out by an 18 wheeler. I tried hard to move over to the shoulder. I turned off the car and turned it back on. It worked after that. Then it happened 40 minutes later. Very big safety issues with this car. This happened 5 times in 5 days.
Last week on march 31st i went to turn my vehicle on since i wanted to move it from my parking spot in the neighborhood to my garage in order for me to go to the grocery store shortly with my 2 month old baby. As soon as i put the key in the ingnition slot and turn the key i heard like a zapping noise instantly and noticed in a matter of seconds smoke coming from underneath the steering wheel area. Sort of near the floor os the drivers side. I immediately hop out of the vehicle to see what had happened and where the smoke was coming from and just as quickly flames started coming from the same area as the smoke. I called 911 and in less than 3 minutes the entire inside of the vehicle was in flames, burning down. The flames then blew all the windows and moon roof trying to escape the vehicle and by the time the fire rescue came most of the vehicle was gone. I thank god i didnt get to move this vehicle as i had originially planned because it would have cost me my life and my families. I owned this vehicle only about 3 years and it never ever gave me problems. All of its maintanance was up to date and never had any electrical issues or major repairs due to anything. I am almost certain this was a fuse or electrical problem that caused the vehicle to burst into flames due to the zapping noise i heard as the vehicle was being turned on. I had been driving this vehicle perfectly fine which is why this came as a huge surprise. I want to make sure others are aware of this issue since its a huge risk. My specific vehicle has never had any recalls and im always checking and up to date with everything.i will be contacting the mercedes benz manufacturing company to let them know of this as well.
Brought cla250 6/2015 after three months loss power, engine light came on car decelerated. Took vehicle to the dealership after 3 different incidents, to be told there was a service bulletin on my car. Will keep you posted after pick up. Car was at the stop light and the vehicle decelerationwent down.
Vehicle became inoperative while driving on a highway. Happened twice today on speeds of 60+ mph in heavy traffic. Vehicle decelerated quickly and lost speed, i was lucky to avoid collisions. The console popped up flashing message 'pre-safe functions limited' on the console. The vehicle did not respond to accelerator.after switching the ignition off and on again, the problem temporary disappeared, but then happened again. The vehicle is duly serviced and is still on warranty, there was no accidents or mechanical faults prior to date. Scary and very dangerous. Could have easily injured myself or someone else who would have hit the vehicle which suddenly becomes inoperative.
The contact owns a 2014 mercedes benz cla250. The contact stated that while driving approximately 30 mph, the pre safe function unavailable warning light illuminated and the vehicle stalled. The vehicle was able to be restarted. The failure recurred twice. The vehicle was taken to a dealer, who updated the computer system but the failure persisted. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 2,000.
When l drive, sudently the pre safe malfunction esp come up in my dash, and l lost my acceleration immediatly l pull my car over the sidewalk.until now l still get the same problem. I went to 3 mecanic shop, they can not do nothing. Its not safe to drive a car like that.
Car completely shutoff tonight on the highway and luckily i was able to get pulled over without incident. I had numerous messages on the display, including "service required, do not shift gears, visit dealer" and "esp inoperable, see operator's manual". The car would not do anything once i pulled over, nothing happened when i turned the key, no noises, nothing. Mb roadside assistance came and tried to jump start and disconnect the battery to no avail. So, off on the tow truck it went.
The stability light came on, and it was difficult to pull away. Once moving a bit the car then went.
1st- on feb 11th & 12th my 2014 cla which was purchased at the mb of pembroke pines had been towed to the mb of pompano, fl dealership because of the eps lights, "inoperative" warning messages that were coming up as well as the stalling and delayed acceleration, which i took photos of. It was towed to pompano form my job, my car was kept at the dealership for 4 days (as opposed to the few hrs i was told that it would take to fix the computer issues). Not only was my car in the shop for 3 days, but a part that had been ordered, which means something obviously wasn?t functioning properly so it had to be replaced.2nd - i picked up my vehicle on sat feb 15th from the pompano, after getting onto the i95 and driving 2 mins, the same warning signs came back up. I exited driving 15mph and trying to keep the vehicle stable. Mr. Mike rodriguez was instructed to test drive the vehicle, however, when he did so the warning signals were gone. Why? because a service guy restarted the vehicle and drove it into the service area. Being that the signal was no longer visible, the gm suggested that if there was ever a signal sent to the vehicle it would show up in some sort of reading they were able to do on the vehicle. When they returned, both the gm and mr. Rodriguez informed us that the vehicle showed them there was no signal that was sent to the vehicle all day. I litterally just saw it not 30 mins ago. We left & about 2 mins from my home in boca raton, the signal was back with vengeance! at this point i took pictures. I pulled into my drive way, but this time i left the vehicle running. 3rd -on march 2ndat around 2:45pm, after about a week of having my vehicle back, i was driving when the same warning signs and acceleration problems were back. I left it running with all the signals up and it had to be towed back. This is a summary of the incedents.this has to stop! not safe!
Inoperative pre safe fucntions limited. Vehicle loses power and becomes inoperativewithout any issue. This has happened multiple times when the vehicle was in motion. It is a potential accident risk of getting rear ended. The vehicle loses power as soon as the message appears and does not give enough time to pull over especially when going on highway with lots of cars and hardly any gap to pull over shoulder.this has happened on a clearstraight road and on highways at 55-60 miles an hour. I am submitting the date of latest occurrence of the incident in this report.
The contact owns a 2014 mercedes-benz cla250. The contact stated that while driving 65 mph, the vehicle failed to accelerate. The contact stated that the pre-safe functions limited inoperative, the electronic stability control, the anti-lock braking system, and the electronic stability program warning lights illuminated. The vehicle was not taken to a dealer for diagnostic testing. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure and current mileage was 2,500. The vin was not available.
My car suddenly slowed and i lost power while driving on 95 at approximately 20-30 mph in slow heavy traffic to work this morning. I could hardly accelerate and only slowly... I had messages that said "pre-safe functions inoperative. See operator's manual", and the esc light came on.drivers behind me started passing me despite me already going slowly due to all the traffic--i had no where to pull over and crawled into the parking ramp at work. I could have been rear-ended this morning.i have no idea what will happen when i restart the car today. This needs to be taken care of by mercedes--do a recall and fix this issue!
While driving at normal street speed "collision prevention assist inoperative" displayed and car would not accelerate. I was in traffic, but was able to exit and pull over and park, turned car off, & back on. Display reset and car normal.took to dealership immediately-repair was "non connecting pins".too early to tell if this solves.upon investigation, this is a common issue with 2014 mb and i want to document this extremely dangerous performance.
Cars eco button fuses . Electrical fuse . Car stalls doesn't drive well since i bought it from mercedes dealership
Vehicle's transmission & throttle response is jerky & unpredictable. Rotors went bad at 5,000 miles, beginning to go bad again at 12,000. Numerous unknown interior rattles.windshield wiper completely flew off vehicle while driving in heavy rain - visibility instantly reduced to near-zero. On two occasions, the car displayed "pre-safe functions limited/esp inop" message followed by engine immediately losing power on freeway, which could have ended very badly. Not only is this vehicle of poor quality, it is becoming increasingly dangerous to drive. Seriously considering pursuing state lemon law.
The contact owns a 2014 mercedes benz cla 250. The contact stated that while driving approximately 60 mph, the esp and pre-safe function warning lights illuminated as the vehicle decelerated. The accelerator failed to respond. The contact had to maneuver to the side of the road and after approximately 10 minutes the vehicle restarted normally. The vehicle was taken to the dealer. The technician diagnosed that the front radar sensor was damaged and needed replaced. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 13,334.
See uploaded document protected auto issues for full story.hennessy buick, mazda, gmc sold me a car 8/18/2017 unknowingly i discovered on 2/5/2019 that it had an illegal can blocker/switch (manipulates computer systems in car and tampers true mileage on car) installed in ignition switch.
On sunday, october 27, and tuesday, october 29, 2013, my vehicle listed above had warning lights come on that stated, "pre safe, functions limited, inoperative."in addition to the words, the esp and abs lights illuminated.i took the vehicle to penske mbz in west covina, ca, on wednesday, october 30.they repaired the vehicle by doing a software update.on saturday, november 2, 2013, the codes returned and i took the vehicle back to where i bought it, encino, ca, mbz.i was told they could not replicate the codes and they found no problem.this is unacceptable!the vehicle is still at encino mbz as they are trying to replicate the problem.when this malfunction occurs, the vehicle loses power and has very limited acceleration.it has occurred twice on city streets and twice on the freeway, both in eco and sport mode.on the city streets i am able to just pull to the curb.on the freeway, it becomes a possible life threatening emergency.there is only very gradual acceleration, and at 65mph, limited acceleration is very dangerous.these four occurrences have taken place in less than a 10 day period and no long term repair has yet been accomplished!
While traveling with my wife and newborn on highway 64 my 2014 cla mb cut off( while in motion ) and gave a code 'do not shift gears 'visit dealer. Somehow the car switch to netural while i coast the car to a safe edge of the road. We were terrified!! next it gave a transmission code in red to do not shift visit dealer. I'm not sure if any recalls but this is a safety that needs attention!!
On october 17, 2014, vehicle 'pre safe functions limited, inoperative' light came on the vehiclewhile driving on interstate at approximately 50-60 mph. Vehicle would not accelerate so coasted to side of interstate and came to a stop. Tried to accelerate from a stop, car would only move at a few mph and the transmission felt like it was stuck in the highest gear. Turned car off and back on. Problem seemed to reset and was able to drive home. Did not take to dealership for this incident due to reading about others' experience and that dealerships are unable to replicate.
The contact owns a 2014 mercedes-benz cla250. While driving 50 mph, the check engine and rpm warning lights illuminated. In addition, the engine made a loud unknown noise and the vehicle began to lose speed. The failure recurred three times. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where the fuel pedal was replaced; however, the failure recurred. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 1,000.
I was turning on to a busy 3-lane road during rush hour, speed limit 45 mph with most cars traveling at 50 mph. While accelerating after making a right turn on to the street, my car suddenly received a "pre-safe" error to the dashboard and stopped accelerating while heading approximately 40 mph. As i had just shortly made the turn, i had not caught up to the speed of traffic and the sudden stall caused the car to decelerate. The abruptness of the malfunction nearly caused me to get into two rear end accidents while just using momentum to reach a spot on the road whereby to safely stop the car. The car would not accelerate despite restarting and required a tow. The car is 3 weeks old and was bought brand new.

I had a check engine light come on for a crankcase vent valve defect issue, the part is $750 and costs $1,950 with install.upon identifying the issue, i spoke to the parts department at mercedes and they said that they have been replacing so many of these parts that it should be a recall on the c class and cla class.most are repaired under warranty so it has not received a lot of focus. Mercedes is charging exorbitant rates to fix an error that they knowingly ignore to be a significant issue.
Car has now twice gone into pre-safe functions limited and inoperative mode (simultaneously) while driving with no notice, effectively removing all ability to accelerate and creating near major accidents both times.the first time occurred on the freeway driving in the second to the left lane at approx 75 mph. Cars narrowly avoided crashing into me while i coasted through high speed traffic to the shoulder.the second time was in town and without warning same thing occurred leaving me coasting in the left lane with a truck narrowly avoiding a collision and the truck having to go into oncoming traffic and back to avoid me. As there was no shoulder i had to navigate and come to a stop in the right lane of traffic.
The contact owns a 2014 mercedes benz cla250. The contact stated while driving 25 mph, the vehicle shut off. The contact stated the auxiliary battery light illuminated before the vehicle shut off. The contact stated the vehicle was towed to the dealer (mercedes-benz of alexandria: 200 s pickett st, alexandria, va 22304) and repaired the conductor plate which caused the vehicle to stall and shut off. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 14,000.

On this day, i was nearly killed in my 2014 mercedes cla250 4matic that stalled on a highway in new york city. The car has roughly 40,300 miles on the odometer.i was driving on the brooklyn queens expressway at 4:00am. The car's motor stalled and the car came to a stop in the left lane. There were no shoulders. I attempted to get the car restarted but all i got were flashing dashboard lights. I attempted to put up a warning triangle to the rear of the car, but the traffic was moving too quickly for me to safely do that. I sat in my car and buckled my seat belt. I called 911 to announce my emergency and i contacted my car's insurer for a tow truck (they provide such a service).within moments, a toyota with tlc plates smashed into my car sending me into the barrier. The rear of the car was broken and deformed. The front of the car is okay, but the appearance of the rear is such that i believe i lost my car.i read online that this model has a stalling problem and that others have gone through this. I was one of the unlucky owners and i will be suing. This car's airbags did not deploy and i am injured and being treated in a hospital.

The contact owns a 2014 mercedes cla250. The contact stated that while driving at 55 mph, the vehicle lost power as the engine warning light illuminated. The failure recurred several times.
Was driving down the road, the car started hesitating, and lurching repeatedly.i was just able to pull into a parking lot off of the busy street that i had been driving on.once in the parking lot the engine totally died and a message of "inoperable" appeared on the message screen.this required towing of the car to the dealership.it was determined that the intake manifold pressure sensor was faulty as well as the crankshaft position sensor was faulty.electrical investigation revealed that a ground stud on the chassis was painted over and not making contact.update of software, cleaning of contacts, and replacement of sensors resulted in smooth running engine.
The pre safe mode has happened 5 times on my cla 250 since i bought the car last january. I think the pre safe mode is not safe at all. All of a sudden, the car just lost power, no any feedback when i stepped the gas pedal, the best thing is the brake still worked. After restarting the car, the car went well but the engine light was on. However, after two days, the engine light was off so i didn't even have a chance to show to the dealer. It's very dangerous to drive this car on high way, especially in traffic jam.
On multiple occasions, the vehicle will shut off while driving. The message states "pre-safe functions limited". When the car shuts off for no apparent reason, i have to coast to the side of the road to safety. I have turn the vehicle off and then i will be able to restart the engine. I've already taken this into my mercedes dealership and they did not fix the issue. I'm afraid this is going to cause a fatal accident and i have two small children. Please make this a high priority
I have partial video if this incident.incident occurred at 991 odometer miles.after driving approx. ~300 mostly contiguous, flat, rural highway miles in-between lincoln, ne and st. Louis, mo (heading to atlanta, ga) in approx. 30 weather on dry pavement, the engine stopped producing enough engine power to propel the vehicle at the 70-75 mph that i was traveling.at approx. 60-65 mph, i applied additional pressure to the gas pedal which was not effective.pushing the gas pedal to the floor did nothing except, occasionally, the transmission would switch quickly in-between the same two gears, which registered slightly on the tachometer but did nothing to accelerate the vehicle or maintain speed.it almost felt as if the traction control was activating (but malfunctioning) despite the ground being totally dry.by approx. 50 mph i was being flanked and tailgated by two clearly disgruntled semi-trucks as i tried to pull over to the right.the vehicle seemingly would maintain a max. Of 35 mph.upon restarting the car (normal start), letting it idle (normal idle), and then attempting to drive to a safer location, its acceleration felt restricted at lower rpms, but it did back up to highway speed and the restricted feeling ended up being temporary.the nearest dealer was mb of marion, il., approx. Another 200-300 miles away.on the way to this dealership, the same malfunction occurred again about 50-75 miles later.i went through the same process and restarted the vehicle.at the marion, il dealer, the mechanic found the following code in the computer: po29921 - boost pressure of turbocharger too low.the mechanic at the marion, il dealer and, later, at another dealer closer to where i live (mercedes of south atlanta) was not able to replicate this code and therefore no repairs have ever been attempted or made.this issue has not re-occurred here in georgia.

After having 40k service about 6 weeks ago on my 2014 cla250,'service required: do not shift gears, visit dealer' light came on from a parked position. Thank goodness i was parked! i've read several posts where this happened while driving at high speeds! this is a very dangerous occupancy... A critical failure!anyway, the error message came on when i started the car and the car immediately shut down. It had to be towed on a flatbed as there was no way to even start the car and is at the shop now. My car has less than 42k miles. This really is unacceptable and i am scared to drive the car now after reading it happens while driving too! i haven't read anywhere what the actual issue is, only that after sone people get it back after a software update it happens again. Mb really needs to find out what is causing this critical error and fix it since it is so dangerous!

The contact owns a 2014 mercedes benz cla250.while making a left turn at an unknown speed, the vehicle stalled in the middle of an intersection.the inoperable power warning indicator illuminated during the failure.the failure occurred several times.after each failure, the contact was able to restart the engine and resume normal function.the vehicle was taken to the dealer multiple times, but they could not duplicate the failure.the dealer concluded that nothing was wrong with the vehicle.the vehicle was not repaired and the manufacturer was notified.the failure mileage was 5,800.

I was driving on i-85 at 70 miles per hour. The car stop accelerating and on the dash board a message of inoperative, see manual. I was almost hit by many cars. I coasted to the side of the interstate. I almost freaked out. I called the mercedes dealer and i was told to cut the car off and turn it back on. That didn't work. I had the car towed to the dealer. The dealer told me they did some updates and fixed the car. The car did the same thing 2 other times. I could have been killed in the traffic. This time i took that death trap back to the mercedes dealer and left it and informed the dealership to give me another car or give me my cash money back that i paid for the car. I am not taking the car back. I am afraid i will be killed in the car. This is the most scary experience.the dealership told me that there is know fix for this problem the car needs to be grounded before someone get killed.
While driving down the road the car suddenly went into park. The park button was not touched, nothing was near it, and it could not have been accidentally pressed. The car slammed into park on it's own.
The contact owns a 2014 mercedes benz cla250. Bought the cla 250 brand new in 2014, vehicle has now twice gone in to pre-safe mode and inoperative mode while driving. The car switches to neutral as i am driving and then refuses to shift in to drive or reverse leaving me stranded in the streets on two occasion which could have caused two very serious accidents. The car on the second time had to be towed to dealership who could'nt find anything wrong with the car. There solution was more of a guess about a cpu needing to be replaced.
The contact owns a 2014 mercedes benz cla250. While driving at approximately 65 mph, the vehicle stalled and the engine warning light illuminated. The contact was able to restart the vehicle on the first attempt. The failure recurred intermittently. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 25,000.
Water pump failed, 21,000 miles
I was driving my car when all of a sudden the car slowed down and the steering became stiff. The pre safe light came on the screen along with "parking brake" "traction control" although the parking brake was not applied. I had to have my car towed home because it was unsafe to drive.
While driving the car shuts off without warning. After the engine shuts down, it will start after waiting for about 1 minute.
This has happened multiple times starting in jan. 2014 and most recently april 15, 2014:come to a stop at red light (or stop sign) and when i step on gas to go when light turns green, etc., no power or, at most, car barely coasts to shoulder of road.it does not sound like the engine engages.i turn the ignition off and then on again and the car runs.this happens when eco stop/start function is on and also happens when it is off.i am afraid to drive the car because this happens without warning.i could be driving the car for a week with no problem and then it happens.
The coolant pump fails after about only 48000 miles, which causes the engine overheated. I did my research online and found that many others who own a mercedes cla 250 had the same coolant pump problem at low mileages (less than 50000 miles). Thus, i doubt that this coolant pump failure is a defect that needs to be recalled for. My car is still with the dealership so i do not have a report/receipt from them stating the problem yet.
While driving out of a driveway, a car pulled near my car. At that time, the car was stationary. My wife heard the pre-collision warning. The the car completely shutoff or stalled. Turned off the car completely by turning the key. Then turned the car back on. Lucky there was no accident.
Pulling off from a cold start, the car slams into 2nd gear. This has happened 4 times, each time from a cold start. A loud bang is heard inside the engine. This seems very damaging to the car. I took it too the dealer the 2nd time it happened and they were unable to replicate.
Accelerating from an intersection after the light turned green, the engine began chugging and thumping.the check engine light came on immediately and the eco light started flashing .the engine stalled several times.we drove straight to the dealership with the car.at every intersection with a red light, it seemed as though the car would stall again.we did make it to the dealership.they kept it for three days, and determined that it was a defective manifold pressure sensor.this is the second time the manifold pressure sensor has had to be replaced.in the first episode on october 9th, 2014, the car died completely and the message "inoperable" appeared in the message screen.the car had to be towed in that time.both instances required replacement of the same sensor and an update to the software.
Without warning , the vehicle started to shake uncontrollably and was unable to reach a certain speed without the tremors. Very unsafe to drive
Bought brand new cla250 a year ago and driving last week on the high way and "inoperative mode" went on and you lose all acceleration power. After i pulled over finally restarting the car a few times i regained acceleration. Currently at dealer being assessed
Purchased my new cla250 in september 2014.in august of 2015 my car suddenly stopped accelerating while driving 65mph on the nj garden state parkway!. The pre-safe warning was present on my dashboard.luckily i was able to pull to the shoulder without causing an accident.this could have caused a major catastrophe killing me and others.i restarted the engine and drove to my destination making sure i stayed in the right lane on the parkway.it failed 2 more times while not on the highway but still a very dangerous situation.took the car (which had 16,000 miles) to a mercedes dealership when i returned and they performed a series of tests. They found a product technical support system update which involved updating the software.the failure did not occur again until nov. 2017. I almost got hit by a bus in philadelphia when my car decided to stop accelerating.finally, driving to the airport doing 70mph the car again displayed the pre-safe warning and rapidly slowed down almost causing a crash on i-78 in nj. Took the car to a mercedes dealership near me and they said since the car is 2,000 miles beyond the 50,000 mile warranty it's not covered.they are replacing a series of parts that will cost me over $4,000 to repair!there is no guarantee this will even fix the problem.is mercedes waiting for someone to die before they acknowledge this car has a very serious problem? i have to wonder if there has been any crashes involving this car and nobody survived to detail what was happening!the 2014 cla is not safe and mercedes doesn't appear to be concerned.
The contact owns a 2014 mercedes benz cla250. The contact stated that while at a stop light, the vehicle stalled without warning. The vehicle was restarted and was driven to the residence. The contact stated the vehicle was later taken to mercedes-benz of encino dealer, (16721 ventura blvd, encino, ca 91436) where it was diagnosed, and the conductor coil was replaced however, the failure recurred. The vehicle was taken back to the same dealer however, technician could not find a failure. The contact was informed by the technician to drive the vehicle with the echo off. The vehicle was driven with the echo on and the failure recurred. The contact call the same dealer and schedule an appointment. The manufacturer was notified of the failure but did not assist. The approximate failure mileage was approximately 60,000.
I am approximate on the date without going back to service files.the car was new to me at the end of january 2014.then in mid-march, a couple of thing were happening.the crash avoidance alarm would go off for no apparent reason.then, inside of a couple of weeks the car lost all ability to accelerate.first time i was in the middle of an intersection.the other two times, open road, in early morning so luckily little traffic. In all 3 cases of the acceleration loss, i was able to coast to the shoulder. It is not as if is a drive train issue...if you press on the gas as you are coasting, the engine is just idle.does not rev.once stopped completely and restarted, everything was fine. The dash warnings that came up were "inoperative.see owner's manual"(no lie?!)and then "presafe functions limited. See owners manual."conditions were clear in all cases.speed at the time of incidents, once 15 mph, twice around 40 mph.i took the car to the dealership.they had for 2+ weeks and the issue would not replicate itself. When i picked up, i was told there was an "update" that was done and maybe that would prevent it from happening again.it did . . .until two weeks ago.fast forward to january 2015.the same thing has occurred 3 times in two weeks.two times inside of 15 minutes in one case.once in a very risky merging traffic situation.i am writing this on the day that the last two incidents took place.taking the car in tonight.i really don't want the car back until i know it is fixed or they just replace it.i find it very odd that this has not occurred for approx. 6 months now a rash of the incidents.i am so thankful this has never occurred in heavy traffic.i'm gun shy now.
Catalytic converter got clogged up and car would loose power and not get enough air into engine and catalytic converter right next to the turbo under the heat shield would turn glowing red causing turbo to leak itā€™s fluids
Purchase my 2014 cla 250 in january 2014 for my daughter.in may my daughter call and said the car just stopped running while she was driving it.didn't really think anything of it because she was a new driver.about 3 weeks later she said it did the same thing.again in october 2014 i was driving the car. Driving about 40mph and the car just stop moving.a message of inoperative came the screen.i was able to pull to the side of the road.the steering was very hard to turn and nothing would work except for the brakes.if you turn the car off and start it again the car will start working again.put the car into the shop.they said it was a computer update.mercedes dealer updated the system.as they were driving the car back to me the same thing happened.so they took it back to the dealer kept if a week and said they fixed the problem.three months later exactly 1 year having the car.my daughter was driving to school and it stop running again and this time the tire lights came on.so i picked the car up from school and on the way home the car stop running again received the same message as always the car is inoperative.this has happened in one year of owning the car 6 times.this is very dangerous.i do not advise anyone to purchase this car.
While driving the vehicle loses power and barely has any accelerations. The warning sign said inop see owners manual. I had to pull over, restart car then it was back to normal. This has happened twice at the exact same road. I was at a stop light, made a left turn, drove about half a mile then this started. This is very dangerous!
Recently, every time i ma driving in the rain, no matter how light the rain is, the traction control light comes on and a message stating"pre safe, functions limited, inoperative" shows up. The vehicle has looses acceleration. This happened to me on the freeway today. This is potentially dangerous as it could cause a serious accident. This seems to be a recurrent problem based on a simple online search.
Right air bag malfunction error and check engine light for crank case. This is a very common problem that mercedes explained to me and also told me to check back for recalls because their vni system will probably show one
I was driving on the interstate the car lost all power. On the dash board it read inoperative see manual. The can would not move. I almost got kill in the traffic. On 02/23/2015i was driving on the interstate again the same thing happen again. Each time i took the car to the dealer.i am afraid to drive this car because it is very dangerous.
This is a summary of the incedents.this has to stop! not safe!
When the vehicle is stopped i can hear a knocking noise coming around the water pump the car has only 39,000 miles
Inoperable message flashed on the dash as i lost all acceleration power.was almost rear ended by a semi, but was able to pull over to the side of the interstate.luckily i was not in heavy traffic at the time and didn't get hit.this has happened 3 times now and i am still waiting for mb to get back to me.
Vehicle suddenly lost power while driving at approximately 30 mph. Only able to accelerate very slowly. Messages "inoperative see operator's manual" and "pre-safe functions limited" displayed. It is unsafe that car suddenly decelerates without warning to surrounding drivers.this has happened on two separate occasions a few days apart.

Driving on highway at 70 mph when i nearly caused a collision because i encroached on another car's space in the next lane to my left. I believe this was due to the fact that the cla250 driver side mirror does not adequately cover the blind spot and does not provide safe and effective view of the left lane. The mirror is adjusted all the way out but can only see the quarter panel of the cla250.during my near-collision, i did physically turn my head and shoulders to view the traffic on the left lane (three lane highway). It was clear. As i was about to switch into the lane 2 seconds later, another care was already in the space that the cla250 side mirror did not give me a second opportunity to view.i believe this is a defect in design and presents a hazardous condition.
While driving out of a driveway, a car pulled near my car. At that time, the car was stationary. My wife heard the pre-collision warning. The the car completely shutoff or stalled. Turned off the car completely by turning the key. Then turned the car back on. Lucky there was no accident.
Strong gasoline odor inside the car. Dealer removed the rear seat. Removed left and right fuel tank access covers. Found suction jet pump area wet with gasoline. Found the fuel sending unit left side cracked and leaking. They recommended replacing suction jet pump and auxiliary pump costing $1,571.00. The smell is constant whether moving or not and regardless of location. I cough when driving the car hence i seldom use it. If i can not avoid using the car i open all windows and tell any passenger to avoid smoking to prevent fire. I started to notice this issue mid august 2020.
The car showed "pre-safe unavailable" and showed that the stability control off light on the dash.it went into "limp" mode just before a dangerous y shaped intersection where i was turning to the left leg of the y and the oncoming traffic was from the right side of the y.the car was almost totally unresponsive to throttle inputs, and as i had to slow down to see down the hill to the right side of the y, acceleration across the intersection was less than normal walking speed.luckily, there was no traffic coming to the right or behind me.dealer was unable to find the cause.i traded the car in for the next year model due to feeling unsafe driving it.
When the car is in idle and in motion, the cabin of the vehicle fills with a smell of fuel, and it was also discovered that the car also has began leaking from the fuel tank located underneath the rear seats.
There is a design defect in the rear differential. Multiple independent repair shops have reported this. Mercedes benz has an internal "service technical bulletins" to their dealers on this.issues. There are numerous reports on this on different forums on mercedes cars.
When l drive, sudently the pre safe malfunction esp come up in my dash, and l lost my acceleration immediatly l pull my car over the sidewalk.until now l still get the same problem. I went to 3 mecanic shop, they can not do nothing. Its not safe to drive a car like that.

The contact owns a 2014 mercedes cla250. The contact stated that while driving approximately 5 mph, the vehicle hesitated to accelerate. The failure recurred multiple times. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 11,000.
The contact owns a 2014 mercedes benz cla250.the contact stated that while driving approximately 40 mph, there was a reduction in acceleration power as the 'pre-safe functions not operable' warning message illuminated.the vehicle regained normal operation once it was shut off and restarted.this failure recurred four times over a two month period.the vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer, who reset the software but to no avail.the manufacturer was not notified of the problem.the approximate failure mileage was 3,500.
While sitting at a red light, the vehicle will put itself into neutral. It's happened multiple times and we've brought the car at the dealership each time it's happened yet it still hasn't been fixed. This is a serious safety concern and mercedes needs to look into a fix asap before they have a lawsuit on their hands.in addition, the entire engine has already had to be replaced! so far, to address the issue about the vehicle putting itself into neutral the dealership did a transmission control update and replaced the valve body. It's now back for a third time at the dealership and we've told them that we aren't picking it back up until they can guarantee tee the issue has been fixed. When the vehicle puts itself in nuetral the 'pre-safe function limited' appears on the dash. Also, it's hard to recreate the issue as it only appears randomly.
While driving the vehicle loses power and barely has any accelerations. The warning sign said inop see owners manual. I had to pull over, restart car then it was back to normal. This has happened twice at the exact same road. I was at a stop light, made a left turn, drove about half a mile then this started. This is very dangerous!
Pulling out into a busy two lane highway the3 car went into "pre-safe mode."the car stopped accelerating leaving me stranded in front of oncoming traffic.the drive of the other car thankfully was paying attention and hit his brakes.this could have been a very painful incident. Took the vehicle in for service only to find out that mercedes has no answer to why it is happening.only a matter of time until a cla 250 owner gets killed.no longer will let my wife drive the vehicle and have demanded that mercedes take it back. Very disapointed with mercedes.
The contact owns a 2014 mercedes-benz cla250. While driving 25 mph, the vehicle lost power. The accelerator pedal was depressed, but the vehicle failed to accelerate. The brake, esc, and multiple warning lights illuminated. The vehicle was taken to a dealer, but the contact was unsure about what part was replaced. The vehicle was repaired, but the failure recurred. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer who was unable to diagnose or repair the vehicle. The failure persisted. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 40,000.
Over a year i am complaining that i am getting unusual noise from my car. Mercedes benz silver spring told me that because it has low profile tire and rims get bend from inside causing the noise. I took their word but issue remain there. I just took the car for other issue and told the service manager look into the issue and they came back with issue 'split differential issue' in the car which will cost around $4100.00. I did internet search and find out that there are other people who cla 250 in 2014 got the exact issue. I own cars for so many years but never heard anybody have similar issue. Mercedes is not doing anything about it. Please help. Thank you.
When the car is in idle and in motion, the cabin of the vehicle fills with a smell of fuel, and it was also discovered that the car also has began leaking from the fuel tank located underneath the rear seats.
When i bought my 2nd cla, i have noticed whenever i am driving & turn on the driver's heated seat, that it always burn my left leg, so i would always turn it off. This has been ongoing for quite some time. Fast forward to last night (2/20/21), i turned on my heated seats & i smelled something burning then it felt like my leg was on fire. This time the pain from the burning was worse than the other times. I immediately turned the heated seat off. I could not tell if the seat was giving off smoke because it was dark. I noticed the next day that there were a hole in that area on my drivers seat where the problem occurred. After seeing the hole in my seat, i thank god i turned the heated seat off because had i moved my leg from that burning area on my seat, ignored it & kept driving, i believe the seat would have created a fire! this most definitely screams a fire hazard, unsafe & should be deemed as a recall on all mercedes.
The breaking system has gone out on this car while driving three different times. It's extremely scary and has almost caused an accident each time as there is no warning when the system fails. One minute the car is fine and the next you cannot stop. No way to know it's about to happen until you press the break pedal. The first time we had it fixed from the mechanic he seemed to believe it was a fluke the break booster part went bad so we fixed it.second time we returned to the same mechanic and he said the entire system failed and replaced all the parts including the booster. Except this time he was able to exchange the booster under a part warranty. Now in the last few days the entire system failed again with no explanation. All three instances have happened in less than a year. There is obviously a design flaw in this car and it's extremely dangerous and we do not know what to do. We got lucky not having an accident as well as some of the second and third repairs being under a parts warranty. There currently is not a recall we can find for our model but if you look up other mercedes models they have a break system failure recall. This needs attention!
As i was driving on the highway around 65 miles per hour, the vehicle's check engine came up and said " inoperative, pre safe inactive"i freaked out. I was at highways speeds and it was inoperative. I noticed that the power steering was affected and the vehicle was unresponsive when i accelerated. The abs system was disabled, i was scared even to brake because i know that when the abs system is disabled the brakes can lock up and cause an accident, injuries and even death. I have noticed that many cla250 owners have the same problem.
I purchased a new new new mercedes cla-250c automobile late september 2013. In mid-october i experienced un-commanded acceleration to above 5500 rpm. This ceased just as i was about to apply braking. The car then behaved normally. On christmas night i experienced un-commanded braking whenever i backed off the accelerator pedal, the force of braking being proportional to the degree of lift-off from the accelerator. I was able to bring the car to a complete stop without touching the brake pedal. At that point i grounded the car.on january 7, 2014 i informed mercedes-benz about the above. I am prepared to provide further information regarding the above events and my correspondence with mercedes-benz usa should you desire.
Was driving on a road with 3 lanes .i was in the right lane was switching to middle when my stering and brakes just locked upi was not able to control the car i ended up all the way in the left lane crashed into a car and ended up on the divider
While driving on the highway without notice my car completely shut off. Several notifications appear on the dash screen "inoperable see owners manual"this is the 2nd time in two days where this same dangerous life threatening issue occurred.

The contact owns a 2014 mercedes benz cla250. While attempting to reverse, the steering wheel seized. In addition, the power steering malfunction, see manual was displayed across the message board. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 11,000. The vin was unavailable.

I was driving my car when all of a sudden the car slowed down and the steering became stiff. The pre safe light came on the screen along with "parking brake" "traction control" although the parking brake was not applied. I had to have my car towed home because it was unsafe to drive.
The contact owns a 2014 mercedes-benz cla250. The contact received notification of nhtsa campaign number: 21v197000 (structure) however, the part to do the recall repair was not available. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The dealer was not contacted. The contact stated while driving at an undisclosed speed the adhesion had deteriorated and separated from the front panel. The vehicle was not diagnosed nor repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure however, the contact was informed that remedy was not yet available. The failure mileage was approximate 94,800. Vin tool confirms parts not available.
While driving on the highway, i heard a sudden loud explosion, the panorama sunroof shattered and glass rained down on me and everywhere within the car. There was no evidence of anything hitting the car or the sunroof, it just spontaneously exploded.
I was driving my car on local streets, suddenly i heard a cracking noise from the sunroof. After that i pulled my car aside and notice that there was a small crack on the sunroof. (see attached photos) there was no falling foreign objects, no impact from the weather. I have no clue what is the cause of the day crack. My first reaction was to call the insurance company and find a parking lot to store the car. After i contacted the insurance company and i was on my way to the parking lot, the sunroof shattered completely. Some of the glass piece even fell and caused injury to my wife. This was definitely a manufacture defect because there was no impact from the outside at that time and you can also clearly tell from the picture of the crack. It is not caused by any fallen foreign object. I was not able to drive the car anymore at the risk of my family's injury so i called the mb roadside assistance to have the car tolled.theshattered sunroof not only cause diversion of the driver's attention and also cause body injury from the fallen glass pieces. Mercedes is not responding to the complain. Dealer is taking the responsibility on this issue and charge me $2,400 to repair the sunroof. I did a search on internet and i noticed that similar cases are widely seen worldwide, see below links to recent incidents in california and uk. Https://twitter.com/red_devil718/status/979365018843172865https://www.carcomplaints.com/news/2018/mercedes-benz-sunroof-shattered.shtml (california class action lawsuit on gla)https://twitter.com/srinivas_kamath/status/814467425190100992one of the recent case even caused injury to a driver who is a pilot. He bought the case to the court in california.i really think mercedes should be responsible for this issue and evaluate the risk, consider a recall since this is not an uncommon case.
The contact owns a 2014 mercedes-benz cla250. The contact stated while driving 60 mph an eight foot piece of molding on the right side of the vehicle came apart. The contact pulled over and removed the molding from the vehicle. The contact took the vehicle to a dealer. The contact did not call the manufacturer regading the defect. The failure mileage was 630.
I am writing to raise serious concerns about the run-flat tires installed on my 2014 cla 250.after 12,830 miles, i experienced my first flat tire.after consulting the owner's manual, i learned that i had run-flat (moextended) tires and could proceed (having the ability to drive 50 miles on the flat, according to my manual).i was shocked to learn that this tire, could not be repaired and that my only option was to purchase a new tire. On 8/29/16, i was traveling south on highway 101 in a very rural part of humboldt county in northern california, and experienced another flat tire (again with one of the factory installed tires). From a deserted gas station in a place called weott, i tried to call mercedes-benz roadside assistance but after being put on hold and trying to navigate the menu, i gave up.i knew that there were only small towns for approximately 75 miles south of me, so i chose to return to fortuna (where my sister lived), approximately 20 miles to the north). The mileage at the time of this flat was22, 684.just a few miles away from my destination, i pulled over because the vibration in the car had turned to shaking and i was finding it very difficult to control my vehicle.i becamefrightened that i might lose control.i must reiterate that at this point i was extremely frightened for my safety and pulled over on the side of highway 101 and called for a tow truck.i had driven cautiously for only 25 miles on the flat tire, nothing near the 50 miles promised in my auto manual.at the tire center, i opted to purchase two non run flat tires.1)is there a quality issue that needs to be investigated regarding the factory installed moextended tires?2)clearly the moextended tires are not designed to be run when flat for 50 miles, and that needs to be changed in the auto manual.
Making noises like rattling or vibration during driving.
Early afternoon while just driving off an exit in tn. My sunroof exploded causing shards of glass to fly into my car. I had minor cuts on my lower back and arm from the glass covering me while driving. I was able to safely pull over to assess what happen because my initial thought was that someone was shooting at me. The dealership is not claiming any responsibility for this defect . There were no other cars around so the damaged could not have been caused by a rock or falling object.
When the car is in idle and in motion, the cabin of the vehicle fills with a smell of fuel, and it was also discovered that the car also has began leaking from the fuel tank located underneath the rear seats.
Takata recall the car won't start and this message appears
I have had the same issue of the car, being in park for over 5-10 minutes, suddenly lunging forward.it is quiet startling to have it happen.i worry that when i exit the car with the engine running ( due to passengers still in the car) something will happen. This has happen several times with me.
Driving home from work yesterday on the highway and the panoramic sunroof spontaneously shattered, causing me to swerve and almost run off the side of a cliff. Upon doing research i've learned that this has been an issue with mercedes and there has already been many class action lawsuits filed.
Car has been lunging forward when in parked for more than 5 to 10 min since i have owned the car. This car was bought on february 20, 2015. Since then, i have brought it back to the dealership 3 times for the same problem. The third time that i brought it to them, they followed up with saying that it is the make of the car and every cla does that. This is a huge safety problem and it needs to be fixed.
Multiple episodes of "pre-safe functions limited" occurring. When this message appears the car suddenly loses acceleration and you are not able to go above 30 mph despite pressing on the gas pedal. This has occurred on normal 35-45 mph streets but has happened multiple times on the highway when the car is going 65 mph. Luckily, no motor vehicle accidents have occurred because of this issue. The car is able to accelerate and function normally after turning the engine off and on again. Have gone to mercedes dealer multiple times to fix issue. The first time it occurred, mercedes updated system software. Next they replaced vehicle sensors. Most recently they claimed the issue was due to oil pump failure. They replaced an oil control valve and oil pan. Four days after the repair i received the same "pre-safe functions limited message, my car stalled while i was going 40 mph. I have returned the car to the dealer once again to run diagnostics. This has occurred many times in the two and a half years that i've owned the vehicle. It is currently at 49,200 miles and has been properly serviced. Each time i bring the car in for this error message mercedes replaces a new part but it does not solve the problem.
On several occasions,in the rain under acceleration;the car goes into limp mode-check engine light comes on and you have no power to get out of traffics way. All but one case, the car returned to normal after a shut down and restart. In one instance, the check engine stayed on. When a dealer inspected the car they found no cause -(code said engine misfire )-the light was reset-since that dec.2016 dealer visit the problem has happened twice leaving the car to lose power while in highway traffic. A recent dealer visit (no engine light on ) resulted in their finding no issue. This is very dangerous, and not without many other similar complaint. Lives are in the balance here-we need government oversite-please!
While driving on the highway, i heard a sudden loud explosion, the panorama sunroof shattered and glass rained down on me and everywhere within the car. There was no evidence of anything hitting the car or the sunroof, it just spontaneously exploded.
The vehicle will stop acceleration while driving. The message states "pre-safe functions limited". When the car shuts off for no apparent reason when driving at 70 mph on a highway is really unsafe. I have to coast to the side of the road to safety. I have turn the vehicle off and then i will be able to restart the engine. I have not taken this into my mercedes dealership yet.
I have had the same issue as many others. I was driving my car down the highway in the left lane at 65 mph. All of a sudden the speedometer dropped to 0 and i could not accelerate. I had to pull over to the side of the road and turn off the car. This first happened to me twice in december 2013. I took it into the dealership and they did several things to try and fix it. They told me they updated the software. I was scared to continue driving the car, but they assured me it wouldn't happen again. But, the same issue just happened to me again (june 2016). Why hasn't mercedes done anything to fix this? i don't wan to drive a car that loses speed while i'm on a busy highway, it's not safe.
This is a summary of the incedents.this has to stop! not safe!
While driving my cla that i have only had 4 months the car turned off and said it's inoperable! i was almost hit multiple times, when dropped it of at dealer they wouldn't even give me a loan. I bought this car brand new!
I was driving and all of a sudden the pre safe mode popped up saying "inoperative" and "see owners manual".the check engine light came on as well as some sort of traction control light.i was nearly in a accident because the car wouldn't accelerate.when getting stopped at a red light the car would not accelerate after pushing the pedal.then it would accelerate real fast.luckily i was only 20 minutes from my local mercedes dealer so i called them and told them i was bringing the car directly to them.this is very scary and from seeing other complaints there must be something that needs to be addressed.
While driving at highway speed the accelerator pedal suddenly failed. The engine would not respond to any input of the gas pedal. I pumped the pedal, floored the pedal all with no response. The engine would not rev past idle and the car lost speed making changing lanes difficult and dangerous. The error messages shown in the photos appeared in the dashboard. This has happened twice (11/30/15 and 12/6/15).

Car had no acceleration while driving in traffic on a major parkway. Vehicle inoperable pre safety features disabled flashed on the message center.engine light also came on. Vehicle taken to be serviced and the accelerator modulereplaced.my car seemed okay until it happened 4 more times again while driving on a parkway. This occurred approximately 5 weeks after the car was "fixed". Same exact problem and message. Is mb waiting for someone to get killed? so many people having the same problem. I don't need to get in an accident.i thought i was buying a safe dependable vehicle with exceptional service.i should have kept my sonata. I'm really afraid to drive this car again once i get it back.
Car inability to,accelerate pre safe lights come on and check engine light come on.
Yesterday i was travelling back home from office in the evening on highway, and suddenly my cla250 started showing message on console saying "pre safe features limited - see operators manual' and "vehicle inoperative - see operators manual" and lost its throttle, i was unable to accelerate, from 50mph i came down to 20mph within seconds and it was very scary as there were vehicles behind me thinking what i was upto. I immediately switched on flashers and tried my best to pull it back to small space between divider and exit, there was no proper shoulder space so got some scratches on my car. I had purchased this car from dealer as certified preowned vehicle just two months ago, and this was first time i was in such pathetic situation. I called roadside assistant and they were ready to send towing truck, meanwhile i turned off the engine and restarted it and all the messages disappeared and everything looked okay. I made a decision to go back home, as if my car were to be towed late in the evening , i wouldn't get car back the same day,and service center is like 30 miles away and there is nobody to drop me back home. So i decided to take it home and cancel towing truck call. Car moved fine from then on. Today i came to office in car fearing when it would stop again. I called the dealership and what they said was "oh don't worry, that must be some software glitch on pre safe condition, if it happens again bring it to dealership!!" . So literally i need to put my life and other drivers life at risk to wait and see if it happens again. I like my car, but definitely i don't want to die in it, neither i want to hurt someone else due to this so called software glitch
With distronic cruise control on at highway speeds when passing a large truck the distronic cruise control takes over and applies brakes hard almost causing and accident. We have had it in a numerous of time but has not been fixed. The car is not safe this has happen a number of times. We have filed a complaint with mercedes but has denied to a buy back. Want it on record that the system is faulty and is not safe. I have attached pictures of the warning that shows on the dash.
I was driving my car when all of a sudden the car slowed down and the steering became stiff. The pre safe light came on the screen along with "parking brake" "traction control" although the parking brake was not applied. I had to have my car towed home because it was unsafe to drive.
The contact owns a 2014 mercedes benz cla250. The contact stated that while driving at approximately 40 mph, the vehicle failed to accelerate. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the sensor software failed. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 20,000.
When accelerating hard to overtake, the engine lurches, and the car fails to accelerate further and slows down. The engine fault light then illuminates which switched off by itself after switching the engine off twice. It seems i am not the only person to have this problem as you can see in the comments to this video describing the problem and claiming the problem is a faulty high pressure fuel pump: https://youtu.be/-sbr28zbofs this seemingly common issue is clearly dangerous as drivers lose the power when they are most depending on it and it seems to be occurring in cars that are not particularly old.
Vehicle lost acceleration twice within a quarter mile distance on freeway after approximately 10 minutes of driving time. This is a second occurrence of same problem. Vehicle displayed pre-safe inoperative error message. After pulling over and restarting the engine, the issue was resolved for a short distance. The vehicle was towed to the dealership where the entire accelerator pedal assembly was replaced. My family is very skeptical of this cars reliability and is seeking options with attorney under state lemon laws.
The contact owns a 2014 mercedes-benz cla250. The contact stated that the vehicle was unable to be driven in inclement weather because the windshield wipers failed to operate as intended. The vehicle was taken to mercedes-benz of delray (located at 1001 linton blvd, delray beach, fl 33444, (561) 291-6095) to be diagnosed. The windshield and wiper blades were replaced, and the windshield was buffed; however, the failure recurred. The contact stated that the vehicle was taken to three separate unknown dealers a total of 27 times. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failures. The approximate failure mileage was 16. The vin was not available.
Received the car new in november 2013 and immediately reported that the drivers side view mirror would not adjust to the left enough to adequately see vehicles in the left lane.the blind spot was the largest i have ever seen on any vehicle that i have driven.it would adjust to the right far enough to see the front seats inside the car but would not adjust enough to the left to adequately see the left lane next to the car.the view was of the side of my car and a little of the left lane.in the first two weeks of driving i almost had two accidents when changing lanes on a highway.i now have to completely turn my head and look out the back seat side window to see if there is another vehicle there before changing lanes.the dealership has worked with mercedes and changed the mirror and the mirror motor to try to correct this but it has not.they told me in june that mercedes was addressing the issue for the 2015 model and that i would get a new 2015 mirror when available.they installed the new 2015 mirror in december but it is exactly the same as the 2014 mirror.this is a big safety issue in that the view from the side view mirror is not much better then the rear view mirror.there are many complaints about this on the mercedes benz blog.
Driver left side mirror does not give adequate view of traffic on highway to left of driver. It cannot be adjusted far enough so there is an excessive blind spot. I dare not change lanes to left without turning my headexcessively, and this presents a risk when driving at highway speed. This is not the case with the right side mirror.also, we have a 2012 mercedes c250 and this does not have the problem.
The contact owns a 2014 mercedes-benz cla250. While the vehicle was parked in the driveway, the sun roof exploded.there were no signs of breakage from the outside and no warning prior to the failure. A police report was filed. The vehicle was taken to mercedes-benz of new orleans (3727 veterans blvd, metairie, la 70002, (504) 456-3727), but could not be diagnosed. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was not contacted. The vin was unknown. The failure mileage was 81,000.
While driving approximately 68 mph, the panoramic sun roof shattered without warning. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed, but the technician could not locate the cause of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 85,000. Updated 06/08/17*lj
My tires had less than 15k miles and the tire has a bulge on the sidewall. I mentioned to the dealer and they said that is normal for these tires.it now has 35k miles on the tire and it will not pass virginia state inspection.i now have to buy 2 to 4 new tires due to this defect poor workmanship. The dealership said that this is not covered under road hazard and everyone is telling me it happened going over a pothole.the tire is now dangerous to drive on and can have a blow out at anytime.this is an unsafe condition in that the tires are new and should have bulged out like this rendering them unusable.pzero 225/40r 18 92h
The factory tires on the mercedes benz cla 250 are defective. All 4 tires got bubbles in them which is a danger to anyone driving as the tires could blow at any time. These bubbles are not obvious so i didn't know about them until i brought in for service. Less than a year all 4 tires had issues and after doing research i have seen multiple posts about these tires and bubble issues. Goodyear f1run flats.
Since i bought this car brand new in december 2014, i have had to replace all 4 tires at least twice each.they constantly get bubbles on the sidewalls.i have the sports edition, so i have the goodyear runsflats which cost over $350 each.
Good day, i am attaching photos of a failed rim from my 2014 cla 250.the car has just over 54,000 miles on it and the failure-crack has propagated to where the tire will no longer hold air and car is not safe to drive.this is the 2nd failed rim, the first cracked in a similar fashion at just over 44,000 miles and was replaced by my local mercedes dealer at not charge.they will not replace the 2nd failed rim.while we live in the mid-western usa (chicago area) where the roads are rough and there are potholes, there is no evidence of damage or deformation in the area where this crack formed.it's unacceptable that mercedes-benz will not stand behind their product.i have been driving in the chicago area for 40 years and have never, never had a crack in a rim like this.i believe this is a design defect that mercedes-benz needs to correct and replace faulty rims on owners cars.please feel free to contact me for any additional details you need.i will be sending this same message to the nhtsa.thank you, [xxx]information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).*cc
Tires lose air all during these 3 yrs that i had this car lease, always at the dealer, i'm afraid for mysafety due to the imbalanced tire pressure. Can't make plans to drive it far, afraid tires might cause me to lose control and create an accident!! many times i can't go right away, because it takes time out of my life.... I work 12 hour days, i bought this luxury car for its name and its reliable , actually it's the opposite because they are not able to fix it!!! frustrated!!
