After stopping and waiting at a traffic light for 15-30 seconds, i had my feet on the brakes and left turn indicator on. The "hold" option to lock my brakes was not engaged. The car was stationary. Without warning, the car shifted into drive and jolted forward into the vehicle ahead of me at the light. (i was the second car in line, and i stopped about a half car length behind the other driver.) the acceleration was not a typical, gradual movement associated with what happens when i release my foot from the brake to drive. It was a sudden and jarring jump regardless of the fact that my foot never left the brake. I tried to press the brakes multiple times to stop the forward movement, but my car hit the vehicle in front of me twice. The steel bumper of the other vehicle was not damaged. The front area of my hood (emblem and grill) were crushed.i reported earlier electronic issues to my local dealership as notable oddities, but none made me this concerned about safety of others, my passengers, and myself. As recently as a week earlier, my rear-view camera froze and locked as i was reversing into my garage, so had i trusted the screen in my car, i would have reversed another 5-10 feet into my garage. I could not unfreeze it without putting the car back into drive and restarting my car. Months earlier, the sensor on my side mirrors started to go off without any other source of danger or collision on vacant streets. The air pressure alert warned that my tires were becoming dangerously flat; however, en route to the gas station, the pressure monitor noted that all tires were now returning to normal pressure levels and no inflation was needed.there have been many peculiar events with this new c300 in recent months, but my primary concern as a caregiver is the sudden acceleration from a stopped position--or from any position--without my direction or intent.

In february 2019 the c300 engine light came on, took the vehicle to the dealer and they said it was a bad catalytic convertor, and the dealer took three days to repair it. Three weeks later in march 2019, while driving 25 miles per hour straight on a residential street the car shut off without a sound, all the lights on the instrument cluster lit up, and the car coasted to a stop on the side of the road. I trie to restart the car, the starter made noise but the engine would not turn over. I called roadside assistance and did the three time lock and unlock routine, and the car would not start. After towing the car back to the same dealer, they told me the car was showing no codes, the issue could not be replicated and the car should be fine to drive again! i'm now afraid to drive the vehicle, and the dealer is refusing to fix it.

On four occasions, the electronic dashboard goes completely black and will stay that way for quite sometime. The dealer told me that the vehicle is 'downloading software', but this has happened on the highway without any warning from m-b. It happens after i park it and then restarted it.

Sunroof will not open or close, this is a major safety issue! sunroofis currently open. Also, defrost does not work properly during severe weather conditions. When it is raining, my windows will not unfog, this is dangerous and may cause an accident!

On oct 14th at night car was driven in heavy rain off interstate i5 off ramp to exit interstate. There were cars both in front and behind us exiting and upon driving further noticed there was standing water. Other cars were making it through slowly, there was no room to turn around. This car almost made it to the end of the offramp and then stallled. Other cars were forced to go around. Tried to restart the car to no avail. Called for roadside assistance. Noticed smoke coming from the hood and then all lighting went dark in car. Then saw flames from the hood. Quickly ran through water to escape and flames got several feet high. Passer by's had called 911 as entire front of car was engulfed in flames. Fire department had to cut open car hood to put out fire. Car damaged beyond repair and they too were incredulous that a new car would be engulfed in flames after stalling in the rain.

My car has a safety risk open recall since february 08, 2017 that has not been fixed. I have notbeen contacted by an authorized mercedes benz dealer to take my car in and remedy the safety recall. The recall notice states summary:daimler ag (dag), the manufacturer of mercedes-benz vehicles, has decided that on certain c-class (205 platform), e-class (213 platform) and glc (253 platform) vehicles, the starting current limiter could be overloaded under certain conditions during the starting procedure. In the event the starter is blocked due to engine/transmission damage (e.g. Hydro locked engine), a very high electric current would flow through the starting current limiter during the subsequent start attempt. Should the driver attempt to start the engine repeatedly despite the engine not cranking, the very high electric current draw might lead to overheating of the starting current limiter. In a worst case, surrounding components might melt, and potentially ignite and lead to a fire.safety risk: in the event the starter is blocked due to engine/transmission damage (e.g. Hydro locked engine), a very high electric current would flow through the starting current limiter during the subsequent start attempt. 2016 c300 4matic at about 50k miles, check engine light came on and then as i was driving on the freeway the car just stopped accelerating in the middle of the freeway and had to take my car to the side and towed it to the dealer in west covina.luckily there was no one on the freeway since it was early sunday morning.dealer is now saying the car might need engine replacement which will cost me $20k but they want $3000 to do a tear down to make sure.opened a case with their customer service but they said they can't do anything about it since the car is out of warranty.i am incredibly upset with mercedes benz - i have not used the car that much and maintained it myself according to their maintenance booklets.i believe this is an engine defect problem that mercedes needs to take care of.

I bought anew 2016 c-class mercedes benz . I had the car for less than 24 hours when the engine light came on. I immediately took the vehicle in and was told that they do not have a fix for the problem. It is a problem with theambient airflow. The engine does not work properly, causinga rough ride. When trying to accelerate the engine will stall and then shoot forward.

The speed would not increase when the accelerator pedal was depressed. The vehicle was towed to the local dealer (smith motors in haverhill, ma) where it was diagnosed that the engine was faulty. The cause of the failure was not determined. After three months at the dealer, the motor was replaced to remedy the failure. While depressing the brake pedal, a screeching noise was present. My 2016 c300 4matic, which has been serviced exceptionally well, turned 57,000 miles (7k miles outside of warranty), had the check engine light turn on.i went to my mechanic, who has a state of the art diagnostic unit, and it was diagnosed as code p052e which means that the crankcase ventilation regulator valve including the fuel rail needs to be replaced.mercedes has known about this being a major problem as they modified one of the parts.my dealership quoted me over $ 2100.00 to fix it and deemed it not covered by the extended warranty.i have gone online to several mercedes benz forums and hundreds of people have had the same thing happen with this part failing around 52k mark.since mercedes knew about this - issued an improved part to replace the defective one - nhtsa should mandate a recall.this is not some simple dyi matter. It is a complicated repair consuming many hours.it is wrong that driving this, with this code, could literally kill you.i implore nhtsa to mandate a recall based on the facts specified herein.by the way i have a 1999 ml320 that i have meticulously maintained and drives perfect and i have owned many other mercedes benz.i am 58 years old and i have never filed a complaint with nhtsa before.this is a very serious matter.please help

There is a raw fuel smell inside the cabin of the car when driving. I looked online and found that there is a lawsuit against mercedes-benz for faulty fuel lines that they are refusing to repair. I am having the same issues with the fuel lines as countless other people have where the rubber hoses are failing prematurely. I have a 2016 c300 with only 37,100 miles on it that is kept up on and the dealership is saying that the fuel lines are typical wear items and that the cpo warranty does not cover the repair. This is a safety issue as it could cause a fire and leaking fuel into the environment and fuel lines should not need to be replaced already.

I purchased my mb c300 used certified and had noticed a fuel smell. I spoke to the dealership and they said it was normal with mb and nothing to be concerned with. I have now had the car for about 5 months and took it to my local mb dealership to find out what is going on with the smell and they said it was a known issue with this make model and year and it is nothing that will cause harm.well it is now cold outside and the more i use my heat the more the smell comes.i can literally smell gas in my house from the car just being (not on or running) in my attached garage. This is definitely a health issue because i feel like i may pass out if i stay too long in the car with the heat on. Something needs to be done about this besides being told it's a known issue. If its widely known why has there not been a recall on it yet. I also do not understand why my warranty /extended warranty does not apply to this

Fuel line leak, smells like gasoline when heater is turned on.

Hose clamps attaching the high pressure fuel line leading from the firewall-mounted fuel pump to the central fuel rail failed to maintain a tight connection. This leads to fuel leaking past the hose clamp connection into the open engine compartment during cold weather (sub-40 degrees fahrenheit) while the engine is running. When the ambient temperature in the engine compartment rises, either by environment or by heat generated from the engine, the fuel leak subsides.symptoms when this occurs are a very strong fuel smell in the passenger compartment and also, upon further inspection, observation of liquid fuel pooling on the top side of the engine compartment under tray.internet research also indicate that this is a fairly widespread problem affecting at least 2015-16 w205 model vehicles, and that multiple mercedes-benz dealerships in the united states have communicated verbally to other customers that this is a "known issue".

The car has a strong gas smell inside the cabin after first start cold, and also ssecond cold start. The passenger air bag on message constantly comes on.

A strong fuel odor coming from the car, we tried to get the dealer to repair it under warranty and they said, over fueling was causing it, however with the tank half full it does still smell a lot like gas, a strong odor you can smell it outside, they don't want to take responsibility on it, after warranty expired they came up saying something is wrong with my fuel system that needs to be repaired but its not covered by warranty, there are a lot of complaints but they want people to pay for this, we are afraid this could start a fire while driving, or even worse burn my house down

There is a very strong gas smell when the heat and/or defroster is turned on. The higher the heat is turned up'the higher the gas smells. The smell lingers when the car is not running/cut-off.i have noticed that the strong smell of gas does not occur when the air is turned on'it only smells when the heat is turned on. It is so strong'it would literally knock you out.

Gas smell coming through the vents started off every now and then and became more frequent. Pulled it in the garage and the gas fumes made the total garage smell. Took it to the dealer and they said it is fuel line, that sits near the engine. It is in the shop now. After googling i see several other people have had this issue with this car. They cannot tell me yet what caused the problem, i am waiting to hear that

The vehicle has a strong gas smell when the vehicle is idling. Dealer changed the 2 fuel lines and clamps. It's common problem in w205 c300 cars. The car was under extended warranty and the dealer refused to cover it under warranty even though the car has 29k miles. There should be a recall for these fuel hoses. My wife was driving her car on a paved, and dry, road. She was following behind a suv, that applied the brakes abruptly. She had difficulty stopping her car and she wound up hitting the suv in front of her. While this does sound unusual, it is for this car (2016 mercedes benz c300). The salesman told us that this car was equipped with an anti-collision. System called "collision prevention assist plus". It is supposed to activate a light on the dash. If the car gets even closer yet, it is supposed give an audible alarm. If the driver doesn't respond and the car gets even closer to the car in front, the system should deploy the braking system until the driver engages. Even if the driver doesn't deploy the brakes, the car is supposed to stop before a collision. In our car, this system did not function. There was no light, no audible alarm, and no deployment of the brakes. The car was involved in a rear end collision with a mazda crv. So far, mercedes benz has not called me back. I filled out a questionnaire two weeks ago to inform them of the problem. Our car has been sitting at the body shop awaiting mercedes to get back to us. I have done everything i know to try and get mercedes to contact me. This feature was grossly misrepresented by the salesman at anaheim hills mercedes and he has been reprimanded for it. What is worse, the car collision prevention assist plus system completely failed.

Recurring issue of severe pulsation when braking at highway speeds. Pulsation exacerbated by repeated stopping (red lights) or slowing from high speeds (freeway exit ramps). The problem makes it difficult to maintain proper control of the vehicle and makes it difficult to use mirrors due to shaking. I have driven the vehicle less than 40,000 miles and have needed to replace the rotors twice due to this issue.

Steering failed at low speeds. Something broke. Caused me to lose complete steering. Very scary and dangerous

I was driving then the started been hard now it's saying power steering malfunction

The contact owns a 2016 mercedes-benz c300. The contact stated while driving approximately 50 mph, an abnormal sound was heard as a section of the glass roof panel detached from the roof of the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who replaced the missing panel. The cause of the failure was not determined. The contact later received notification of nhtsa campaign number 21v197000 (structure) however, the part to do the recall repair was not available. The local dealer was contacted, and it was confirmed that the part was not yet available. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue. The failure mileage was 31,000. Vin tool confirms parts not available.

Front glass panel on panorama roof detached while driving on freeway on a straight segment and flew off. I it appears that there is a problem with adhesion that is used to secure and there are a number of mercedes models with panorama roofs of various years all having the same problem. It cost over $2000 in dealer repair and replacements.

Glass piece in front of sunroof of panorama roof flew detached and flew off while driving. I was driving on freeway about 80 miles per hour on a straight stretch. It was not hit by anything. Just the wind. Cost to repair $2178 at mb authorized dealer.

The panoramic sunroof is not properly bonded on my 2016, c300 mercedes, while driving over 50 mph you can hear the sunroof making a rattling noise.

Panoramic sunroof is loose not properly bonded.

Plastic panel between windshield and panoramic sunroof detaches. Adhesive degrades over time causing panel to not bond with the body.

The tires supplied on this car are unsuitable for intended use.low profile tires are easily damaged by potholes (we live in chicago) and without constant inspection for "bubbles" present a hazard.this car is two years old with 8800 miles on it and is on it's 4th front tire.in as this is how the car comes, and the dealer as acknowledged this is a common problem they have clearly sold tires that are in the long run not safe.

I was driving down the freeway at approximately 65 mph and the panoramic sunroof on my mercedes c300 exploded.i say "exploded" because nothing struck the glass and most of the glass blew out and off the car, not in.the sunroof was closed at the time, so there was no wind pressure. After i stopped, you can even see where the glass remaining is sticking up, not down. The shade was open so glass did fall into my car, cutting my arm.if kids or others were in the car, it would likely have cut them or could have resulted in glass dust in their eyes, etc.it also could have caused an accident by scaring me but also since much of it blew off my car, it put the cars behind me in danger and could have caused them to crash.mercedes has not taken responsibility of this yet, but i have brought this to their attention.the vehicle was only a little over 1 year old and only about 17,000 miles on it.no way should this have happened. I have more pictures, if you want them.

On october 15, 2019 and on july 1, 2020 the glass panel which is located in front of the panoramic sunroof blew off the car while driving on the highway.this piece of glass does not move and became a dangerous projectile endangering other vehicles. I would guess the glue is not bonding properly

I had been driving for 5-7 minutes i was going down a slight incline on a rural road and took a right hand turn.the driver's door opened and a red warning light came up on the dash.i immediately applied the brakes to stop my vehicle and looked at the door.i noticed that the door lock button was still down. I was able to pull the door closed.my son was in the passenger seat and witnessed this, we were shocked to say the least.carriage house of new london 488 colman street, new london ct06320ph#860-447-3361picked up my car and ran diagnostics they said they found nothing wrong.the invoice number associated with that service call is 79121

In addition to a strong, noxious, moldy odor, vehicle's front windshield fogs over so totally that it becomes dangerous in highway driving.the hvac/climate-control system's defroster is unable to clear more than the bottom few inches of the windshield:the only way i can see through it is to wipe away the fog with my hand.this happens when the vehicle is in motion but persists when it is stationary.this happens in almost any weather, but especially if there is moisture in the air(fog, rain).

When traveling at speed over 65 , car will begin shaking violently and hesitation occurs. This is erratic-3 instances. Terrifying!another problem -started car began hesitating ,unable to go over 30mph and smelled a burning odor. Could not drive car.the car has been checked by dealer twice-nothing found.

Rear view camera is not working. Frozen. I was pulling into the garage. I had to back up so put the car in reverse and then switch to drive forward and the camera froze.

The panoramic sunroof sliding clips are plastic and break. While going down the road the roof lifted when i attempted to close it. The plastic clips broke that secure the slide rail and glass together.

Sunroof will not close at all, seats will not adjust (electrical), wiper visibility is unclear, defrost doesn't work properly.

Sunroof will not open or close, this is a major safety issue! sunroofis currently open. Also, defrost does not work properly during severe weather conditions. When it is raining, my windows will not unfog, this is dangerous and may cause an accident!

Heard something crack and the found later plastic pieces of the shoe on the right side on the sunroof in the rail of the sunroof. It was the rail guide shoe.the mechanic advised me the entire roof would need to come up, including headliner. He also said you'd need to replace rails, which sounds a bit much for a plastic shoe. I agreed, it's ridiculous that these are made of plastic. 4 thousand dollars to fix it.i been seeing a lot people complaining about the same problem.

The contact owns a 2016 mercedes-benz c300. The contact stated that there was an extensive glare that impacted the contact's visibility pertaining to the mirrors. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and advised the contact to have a dealer inspect the vehicle. The service center manager at the dealer test drove the vehicle and indicated that there was a high glare causing poor visibility. The dealer and the manufacturer provided no repair solution. The contact was unable to determine if the vehicle would be repaired. The failure mileage was not available. Updated 09/08/16*ljthe consumer stated when making a right or left turn, he loses the vision of the road.

While driving on the highway, i heard a loud noise that, on first impression, led me to believe someone fired a gunshot at and struck my vehicle.upon looking up, i immediately noticed it was not a gunshot but instead the glass to the front portion of my panoramic sunroof had spontaneously shattered and flew completely off the vehicle.this flying glass flew directly backwards and could have posed a deadly result for the numerous drivers traveling behind me.there were no flying objects or other dangerous instruments that struck the vehicle but the sunroof spontaneously, on its own, shattered and completely detached from the vehicle.upon subsequent online investigation, i learned this very issue has been experienced by other mercedes benz drivers, with the sunroofs spontaneously shattering and flying off.despite purchasing a extensive warranty at the time of purchase, body work, inclusive of glass replacement, is not covered.consequently, i was forced to file an auto insurance claim, which required an immediate $500 deductible to be paid to enable the repair company to order the replacement glass.this reoccurring issue most certainly requires a recall for vehicles containing this problematic sunroof.it is not only a danger to the driver of the vehicle, but also to all others traveling on the road.
