Engine started misfiring and lost power while driving uphill in hawaii the and the car was not able to drive up the hill it had no power. There has been a class action lawsuit regarding the camshaft which mercedes lost however when i called mercedes to help fix the issue they said time has expired and this was no longer valid.

P0022 camshaft balancer defect, subject to prior class action, i am having this same problem! wish to become a part of that prior settled class action or pursue my own action for defective parts
In november of 2012 mercedes-benz usa initiated a service campaign that affected approx. 1,064,723 vehicles.the defective part was the camshaft solenoid. Mbusa sent this notice to all dealerships, but failed to notify the vehicle owners directly.they apparently did not deem this to be a safety recall and felt no obligation to notify the consumer.however, when the solenoid malfunctions due to the defective part it does in fact affect the performance and driving ability of the car. If driving on the highway, in which is the case here, it does become a safety concern.it seems that mbusa knowingly withheld this information from their consumers.during the time of their campaign my vehicle was also under warranty as well.mbusa had ample opportunity to notify their customers of this issue to have it corrected. They never actively provided notices to customers directly.due to the malfunction of the affected solenoid, my vehicle had to be repaired in april 2015.my warranty expired in march 2014.i had my vehicle repaired at an independent repair shop at a cost of $232.93.mbusa should be held responsible for failure to notify the vehicle owners of this potential safety hazard if not corrected, as well as they should be required to reimburse any out of pocket expenses that were incurred as a result of this issue. I have attached a copy of the bulletin that mbusa provided to their dealerships, but again failed to provide to the 1,064,723 consumers that were affected.
My car ran hot and everything on the inside began to flicker. I pulled over and turned the car off to let it cool. When i turned it back on the check engine light was on with the emfamous p0016 and p0017 codes ad i later found out and it has not run thw same since. If drags, shifts incorrectly, and pulls wrong now.
Hvac mold smell , the car smells like ($#!*) whenever i use ac or heat . Tried like changing 10's of cabin filter ,but that smell makes me sick all the time. Checked with all the mechanics ,they only say its a manufacturer issue.
Engine motor mounts are constructed of untreated aluminum. It is well known that salt will react easily with aluminum, extensive corrosion results. The driver side motor mount sits in a pocket in the frame, where brine can lay on it for prolonged periods. Of note, many highway departments are now using a brine mix, including magnesium chloride, that will react with moisture in the air to continue the corrosion process. A recent study by volkswagen confirms that this accelerates the corrosion process. In april or may of this year, i had to have the motor mounts on my car replaced. One failed completely, the other was severely cracked and nearly the same way. The entire top of the driver side mount was completely missing, apparently from corrosion. What was left was white powder. The passenger side also showed evidence of significant corrosion. The mechanic who worked on my car said that this was a known problem, and not the first he had seen. I am extremely concerned about this. A complete failure of motor mounts could cause a severe accident, with wiring and or fuel lines being sheared, and loss of control of the vehicle. The breakage would be likely to occur upon acceleration (think about entering an intersection) or when going over a bump. A complaint was filed with mercedes corporate offices. I explained that i was not looking for any kind of financial settlement. I am not. I would like the problem addressed. It has been a few months now with no response. This situation is not acceptable.
The contact owns a 2007 mercedes benz c280. While drivinghighway speeds, there was a drastic reduction in speed without warning. In addition, the rpms raced and the accelerator pedal was not responding. The contact had to apply force to the accelerator pedal to coast the vehicle over to the side of the road, turn off, and restart the vehicle. The failure recurred. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the automatic transmission needed to be replaced and the transmission shaft, springs, internal speed sensor, and cam shaft needed to be re-adjusted to the correct position. The contact was not able to drive the vehicle. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and provided no remedy. The failure mileage was not available.
I took delivery of a new 2007 mercedes benz c280 4matic vehicle the 1st week of january,2007 & on january 14, 2007 i was returning home on a us highway in seminole county, oklahoma when i approached a small(8 inches tall) house cat or possum & was unable to avoid running over the animal. Rather than the animal making contact with the "skid (protective) plate" & falling to the pavement, the animal busted through the plate & entered into the radiator fan unit doing extensive damage (approximately $3000).upon inspection, it was determined that the "skid plate" was a thin plastic covering not capable of deflecting the impact of an object, but rather allowing the object to enter the engine cavity.i would request that a study be done to determine if this plate meets the industry standards.
My mercedes c280 4matic, engine light came on at 62,000 miles, diagnosed with a faulty "engine balance shaft" was told it would cost around $6,000 to fix and is a common problem with the mercedes-benz c-class. Part should be recalled ! very dangerous, and way too common to not be fault of mercedes.
The balance camshaft cam broke because of soft metal used causing timing off in engine and killing engine lost control of car when it shut off luckily i coasted it to side of road mercedes knows of these problems is a law suit againts them but nothing being done.
2007 c280 mercedes-benz lease with stalling problems**ccthe consumer stated 31 days after purchasing the vehicle while driving in the car with her daughter the vehicle started to shake violently, the check engine light came on and the temperature gauge started to increase rapidly. The consumer contacted the dealer who informed her of the problem and was told it was bad gas. The consumer stated once the vehicle was assessed they informed her that coil #4 was the problem.
The smell of gasoline fumes is extremely strong after filling the tank. The intense smell of gasoline fills the interior of the car as well. I feel that this condition is unsafe and provides the potential for a fire hazard. This condition only happens when the car is filled and last a day or two. My car is in excellent condition but i have not been able to pinpoint the cause.
Noticed strong fuel smell. Fuel tank behind driver side had crack-had it replaced. 4th of july weekend noticed i could not fill up tank beyond 1/2 tank took it back into service defect was located in passenger side tank. On 7/15 car stalled on freeway---showed 1/2 tank of gas-assumed it was the battery.took it into service again and it was the float in the tank that needed to be checked---problem solved-----so far.was told by dealer my year/model did not qualify for recall.recalls are determined by factory where it was built and excessive complaints for said problem from that factory. If the same fuel pump was found to be defective for other model years why wait for consumer to complain and pay out of pocket for repair.. Mercedes should recall pumps gratis ----sounds like good customer service to me.
Every time i fill up the gas tank, i get a very strong smell of gasoline for a day or two.
After filling the vehicle with fuel, a strong odor of gasoline fills the garage when the vehicle is parked inside after fueling.the odor of gasoline is so strong that i feel it is unsafe to park the vehicle inside the garage because of the fumes, and the potential for fire or explosion.
While driving my car suddenly lost power and stalled with no warning. The car was taken to the nearest dealer where it was determined that the fuel sensor failed despite the fact that there was still almost one quarter of a tank of gas. The dealer replaced the fuel sensor. Research on the nhtsa website revealed that there was a part 573 defect information report filed by the manufacturer and a manufacturer's campaign identification number was issued #2008070001. I was never notified about this problem by the dealer or the manufacturer. This could have been a life threatening situation had i been traveling on a busy highway instead of a local street at the time of the event.
Strong gasoline ordor coming from left rear wheel well every time the car is refueled.the strong ordor lingers on for 2-3days filling the garage and house with fule ordor. Seems to be the same problem as e class, which is under an extended warranty for the fuel ordor issue.mb service rep said that c class vehicles are not covered by the extended warranty and owners are responsible for the cost of repair.
Gas smell in garage - gas cap tight just filled tank
This vehicle shows same symptoms as what was investigated on report# vrtc-dcd-3206 by nhtsa. Upon filling up the gas tank to full, gas leaks from sanding unit under rear passenger seat. Few times the gas has made its way out and dripped from rear left wheel well. Reached out to mb usa and was told the recall was only in e-class and they will not extend it to c-class. I see this as a poor product design as the car only has under 14,000 miles. It's both health and environmental hazard.
Several times i've filled my gas tank i got a strong smell of gas before entering my vehicle. I had then made sure not to fill the tank up due to this leakage.i believe its very dangerous. The smell doesn't go away until i drive the car for several days.
Mileage 54,6061 owner carstrong gas odor when the tank is filled, and moving. Took to dealer.dealer stated we need to drain tank and replace leaking l/hfuel sensor module.l/h fuel unitfuel sender o ringsfuel sender lock ringsall for the low cost of $1,095.84for now we are not filling tank.i've read on line this is a problem with mba recall should be done.
When the fuel tank is filled there is a strong gas order coming from the vehicle.
We just bought this car. After i filled it up, there is strong gasoline smell in the garage. Parked the car outside and it still has smell. Is this a common problem withmercedes benz c280? upon further research, there was extended warranty from mercedes to cover e class and cls class fuel odor only. What about the c class cars? don't believe this is the way the car should be performing. By the way, the car is 2007 with 102k miles. I believe mercedes should also cover c class for the same problem,
After my car was serviced on january 11, 2013, i noticed a strong smell of gasoline every time i filled my gas tank. The smell was evident inside my car and in the garage and even in my house. After the third filling of my gas tank and an ever-worsening smell, i took the car back to the dealer to ascertain and fix the problem (march 15, 2013). They found fuel leaking from the driver's side fuel level sensor and replaced it for $1200. I saw an article in the los angeles times on march 20, 2013, that federal safety regulators are investigating this problem in the e-class, and you should know it is occurring in the 2007 c-class, also. I can still detect an odor, though not as strong, after i fill the gas tank.
Strong smell of gasoline inside and outside of the mercedes c280 2007 when it's filled up, or filled past the second notch on the fuel meter. Inspection of the fuel tank underneath the rear seats reveals a visible fuel leak on the left sending unit a thetop of the fuel tank. Google search results suggest this leakage may be related to a march, 2008 emissions recall conducted by mercedes benz (emissions recall campaign # 2008-020001) which involved potential cracking of the fuel filter module in vehicles exposed to high ambient temperatures.i contacted two different mechanics who own mercedes repair shops, and they both confirmed these are common problems with mercedes vehicles of different models and years. Fixing is very expensive (close to $800). Meanwhile, the leaked fuel could ignite a fire, explosion, and, to the least extent, is sending fuel fume out to the environment. Please investigate.
Strong gas odor in garage & house. This occurs after filling up car and parking car in garage overnight.
When researching my problem i found this tk he a common problem.if i fill my gas tank it leaks gas.the cabin of car is flooded with fumes.so many with same car have complained about this.
Very strong odor of gasoline fills the garage and house when the vehicle is parked inside after fueling to full tank. The gasoline odor is so strong that i feel it is unsafe to park the vehicle in the garage because of the fumes, and the potential for fire
With full tank, gas smells inside and outside.
After filling up the gas tank i noticed a strong odor of gasoline in the cabin while at a stoplight. Upon returning home, the car was shut off and could smell the gasoline on the drivers side exterior. After the car was sitting in the driveway for roughly 3 hours, we noticed a "pool" of gasoline on the driveway surface. Contact with mercedes-benz of waco revealed that the technicians there have done many tank/sending unit replacements as these are "known to fail and being out of warranty these repairs would cost no less than $1800 out of pocket and will likely not fix the problem. We suggest you research recall status and complaints made before doing a possible temporary fix."we are concerned with driving the vehicle in this condition and are extremely upset with the lack of safety recall for this problem.
76000 ml nice and clean but, all of the sudden strong smell of the gasoline inside. When did my research online found a lot of similar complaints with same symptoms as what was investigated on report# vrtc-dcd-3206 by nhtsa. Upon filling up the gas tank to full, gas leaks from sanding unit under rear passenger seat.can not understand why same recall is not applicable to the c-class mb, makes no sense to me as to the others unhappy mb owners. My next car is lexus, done with mb

I was driving to work when i smelled heavy burning and my seat became extremely hot. I turned off the seat warmer which at the time was on medium setting and since i could not stop safely, i continued to drive until i was able to stop. I then checked my seat and thats when i saw the heater had burnt a hole through the seat and also burnt my sweater. I have since then learnt there is a lawsuit on other same year models by the same manufacturer and hope my incident will raise awareness that this might be an issue that touches more models than mentioned in the lawsuit
The contact owns a 2007 mercedes benz c280. The contact received notification of nhtsa campaign number: 19v918000 (visibility) however, the part to do the recall repair was unavailable. Mercedes benz of atlantic city (6623 e black horse pike, egg harbor township, nj 08234) and the manufacturer were made aware of the issue and confirmed that parts were not yet available for the recall repair. The contact stated that the manufacturer exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The contact stated that the vehicle experienced the failure listed in the recall. Additionally, the interior roof liner was damaged and became detached due to excessive water pouring into the vehicle. The front driver's seat rail was rusted due to the water causing seat adjustability issues. The failure mileage was approximately 100,000. Parts distribution disconnect.
The seat heater/warmer burned a hole on the driver's side leather seat.
I am still waiting for a recall to be completed.
