2014 mercedes-benz c250. Consumer writes in regards to driver side airbag safety recall. *ldthe consumer stated the manufacturer exceeded a reasonable amount of time completing the recall repair.

The current vehicle i have, is suppose to have a back up camera as part of being the basic standard for a 2014 c- class mercedes benz. Ive asked the place i bought he car from and also ed hicks imports, who also legally sells mercedes benz in corpus christi, to install one, especially becauseaccording to the vin reports i bought, it was initially on the vehicle. I was even willing to pay them to install a factory made original mb backup camera that shouldā€™ve been there in the first place but they tell me to go buy an aftermarket!after further research, it turns out mercedes benz makes all their cars with backup cameras or the parktronic option which is added sensors !!! before my car was even brought over to the usa in 2014! yes, all of these issues have been confirmed by another dealer, which is auto nation here!!!! besides that, ed hicks imports supposedly fixed two factory recalls with my car, where one was if the airbag on the passenger front side goes off, it would kill or harm, myself, and any occupants in the vehicle due to the metal fragments that would also burst and pierce, or exit through our bodies. However, my airbag notification comes on every time someone is in the front passenger seat as a warning, as well as my own driver side airbag that just started coming up when i turn on my vehicle. The steering is not fully mounted straight either, so itā€™s causing me a ton of gas to get to the closest places in town, as well as having me turn the wheel twice as much as i normally would need to on a car with a steering wheel properly mounted, which makes the time for me to finally turn my vehicle at any given time to turn a lot slower than other drivers around me. The last thing is the body of my vehicle not be big properly aligned, i did not know the car had been in any accidents, and recently discovered itā€™s been in 7 !!!so it makes sense why the whole chassis resembles a chopshop car all of these parts of my vehicle are available for inspection

I was driving on i-10 eastbound at approximately mile marker 180 to 182, when i made a lane change to let a faster moving vehicle pass me. I went from the left to right lane with the cruise control set at 70 or 75 mph, (speed limit on i-10 is 75 mph).upon entering the right lane i saw a tractor trailer brake lights, and i slammed on the brake in my c 250, and it caused the car wheels to locked up, which also caused the car to skid, and swerve the back end. The c 250 did slow down some, but came to a complete stop after the c 250 impacted the rear bumper of the trailer attached on the tractor trailer truck.the c 250 slide approximately 200 feet, there were tire tracks on the pavement, which shows the tires locked up. The rear ended of the car also swerved, and it didn't seem like the c 250 was slowing down, once the brakes were applied. There was also some skipping of the tires.the airbag deployed but was late, and caused me to impact the windshield with my head. There is also a hole in the airbag that is bigger then a silver dollar, which shows sign of tearing and fraying.the seat-belt detached at impact which forced me forward and didn't restrain me from me hitting the steering wheel and windshield.

Takata recall. "recall incomplete. Remedy not yet available" has been there for half year. Am i risk people's life driving this car or what?

My steering wheel started to click when i turned it, didn't think anything of it. I was recently pulling into a parking spot and my steering wheel made a loud pop and got stuck, then a loud crack again and started to work. It still clicks and now my passenger airbag light is on permanently. I went to the dealership in oxnard and they said it would be 175 to check about the airbags even though there is a recall. They also said they don't have the parts needed to my steering wheel. I do not feel safe at all driving this car. The horn doesn't work and neither do any of the buttons on my steering wheel.

Car subject to recall #17v627 dated oct. 6, 2017. Dealer advises no remedy available more than 3 months later. Risk is inadvertent airbag deployment that can cause injury or increase risk of a crash. Problem also prevents my selling the car. Please help.

The airbag light came on. Dash board displays left airbag malfunction, horn no longer works, display can not be cleared. Steering make lots of of clicking sound when turned on either direction. Took the car to the mercedes dealership for diagnosis. The initial response was that the steering module failed and my assessment was it is probably due to recall no ground wire recall number 17v627000.. Upon further inquiry the dealer told me that the steering module broke and came apart. I suspect this either due to defective steering module or recall # 17v252000 steering bolt. I had communicated this issue to mbusa via emails and several phone calls. They still haven't agreed to cover the cost of the repair. After several calls to the dealer, they finally shared the picture of the steering module as you can see it attached. Other owners have reported the same problem. Please see picture of installed and new module

Takata recall.our complaint is regarding the unreasonable delay in providing us with a good replacement part.because of the recall we have been unable to use the car or risk serious bodily injury or death ifthe airbag should deploy and explode.in the meantime we have to find alternate transportation, continue making payments on the car, and are unable to sell it.should we decide to use it and get injured by the airbag we will have no remedy at law because we they will consider that assumed the risk by using it even with knowledge of the recall.we wanted our replacement part months ago and now its been just too long.other vehicles with the same recall have had replacements already. Mercedes benz is not acting fast enough and this delay can only cause more problems for our society as a whole as some people may continue to use their cars despite thew recall. We received our notice in february of 2018. To the question below regarding "when did this happen" i used the date of the recall notice. We have avoided using the car and have not been involved in an accident. Thank you.

A recall notice was issued a year ago for this vehicle due to the takata airbag recall.mercedes still has no information as to when a fix for this issue will be available.i do not feel safe driving this car with a passenger in the front seat until the airbag is replaced.there does not seem to be any sense of emergency on the part of mercedes to rectify this situation.

I need to have the recall taken care of.nothing happen yet!

Though i appear to have managed only minimal injury in the random malfunctioning deployment of my steering wheel airbag without being involved in an accident or collision, i was extremely lucky my car's airbag didn't deploy while i was driving 50, 60 or 70 mph.i was actually parked when the airbag deployed.keys were in the ignition as well.even if the car is repaired, it could happen again and even lead to fatalities of myself, my family and other adjacent vehicles' passengers on the road.my wife personally doesn't want to ride in that car knowing this could happen again.i did a little investigating and i found that mercedes-benz has a recent history of these issues.please see article from ny times below.the mb dealership is still testing my car to figure things out but my major concern is with the safety of myself, my family, other drivers, and other c 250 owners.the dealership has still not taken a stance so this is not so much a complaint as it is a major safety concern which should lead to a recall.thank you.mercedes-benz recalls 126,000 vehicles over problems with airbags>>>please copy and paste if link doesn't work<<<https://www.nytimes.com/2015/11/05/business/mercedes-benz-recalls-126000-vehicles-over-problems-with-airbags.html?_r=0

I recieved a recall notice for takata airbags in february of 2019.mercedes says that you guys are the holdup with replacement parts. As the letter states that i am basically using my vehicle at my own risk until replacement has been made, i want a record of my unhappiness and fear. My loved ones ride in this car with me and i feel as though i am putting them at unnecessary risk. Unacceptable.

There have been two recalls on my car that are said to be dangerous and even deadly, yet mercedes has not had parts to fix my car to a safe condition for months and state it will years before they will have the parts (2020).this is an unreasonably dangerous situation they have placed me in as a paying customer and is a breach of acceptable standards.two recalls are currently threatening my life and the life of any passenger when the car is utilized, a short in the steering column can cause the airbag to blow at any time and a defective airbag on passenger side can send shrapnel flying that is reported to be a possible cause of death or serious injury. Mercedes only apologizes claiming they have no parts and no way to make my car safer by disabling mechanisms from both recalls to make my car safer.

There is a recall on my c-250 concerning the takata as well as the steering colummwas told that it could cause airbag to deploy at any time. However, when i called mercedes they said to wait until the srs light came on and stop immediately call for a tow and they would bring it in and could take quite some time to getparts and repair. In my understanding if the air bag should deploy doing 70 mph on the highway it would endanger many lives. Not sure i cam comfortable with the answers i got from mercedes.what should i do next.

Steering locks up/key fob in ignition says "remove key" with no start. Eis/esl failure

Driving on a four-lane street (two lanes on each side) with my two kids. The 2014 c250 had a malfunction with the electric steering:automatically jerking the car to the right. I lost control of the car and hit the curb. It felt like we went airborne. I turned the steering wheel to the left to try to stabilize the car, quickly realizing there was truck to the left i turned the steering wheel back to the right to avoid hitting the truck. This caused me to hit the curb again. It all happened so fast it was hard to stabilize the car. Mercedes-benz (expressed as mbusa) had my car for over a month. In their incident questionnaire they asked to grant permission to image the data contained in the vehicle's event data recorder (edr). I sent the questionnaire to my insurance, and we didn't not grant mbusa permission as the lessee.mbusa broke the law and went without my permission and imaged the data. Than came back and stated that they would not cover the damage, as the edr stated that i hit the curb.mbusa expressed that i would have to pay out of pocket for their malfunction. I asked for a copy of the recorded conversation and i want thereport. It was expressed by mbusa that i would have to get a court subpoena for them to give me the information. I called a attorney and this is against the law; and is all tactics/strategies on mbusa part to not take responsibility because they would by law have to report it to national highway traffic safety administration (nhtsa). All i wanted was to keep my family safe, and for mbusa to take the car back as it was around 3 months old when the accident accused.if i fight this: just to get someone to review the edr will cost around $10,000. Great business strategy mbusa in keeping your customers safe until someone dies because of your lack of humility!

I was driving four days after i leased my brand new c250 2014 mercedes, and the car died in the middle of a busy street. The cop and i couldnt even move it to the side of the street. I am worried this will happen again. Thus i have been calling mercedes to please replace the car with a safe one.

I leased my vehicle in november of 2013. The vehicle is driven to and from work and in the beginning i never had a problem. A few months ago i was driving down the freeway at 70 mph and all of a sudden the check engine light came on and the vehicle lost power. The vehile would violently shake whe trying to accelerate. I manged to continue to drive for about another 30 minutes and made it to the dealer and turned the car off but once they restarted it the car ran fine. Since then then car will randomly loose power all of a sudden it has been to the dealer 3 or 4 times and they keep it for a week and then give it back and say that they were not able to recreate the issue. I have almost been hit once so far and when i let my brother use the car he was almost hit while making a left turn because of the random power loss. I have contacted mbusa andspoke with someone named juan. I continued to call him ans take the vehicle to the dealer everytime it happened expressing my concerns abiut the car as well as safety. Juan intiallly acted as if he cared but that was shor lived as he finally called back on 10/2/15 and explained that his managers and mbusa were unable to create the issue at the dealer level so there is nothing they will do at this point... At that point i realized that there is nothing that mbusa will do for me and that i will continue to forced to drive and pay for a very unsafe vehicle.

I had been driving on the freeway, got off onto a side road and when approaching a stop light while braking: my car completely died (while in drive).the motor shut off, the electrical dash system lights all went off and the hazard triangle system came on (with the symbol of an exclamation mark(!) inside the triangle).after about a minute and a half, i put it in park, and it restarted.scary!i had a full tank of gas.

In june of 2018 we had to have cam shaft work done on our car which was slightly over the manufacture warranty. This took two trips to the shop and about $10,000 in repairsbecause the one side failed then within a few weeks the other side failed. I have read on the web many people have had the same issue and it begins right after the warranty goes out. Now there is an issue with the timing chain which i read should have been replaced when the cam shaft work was done. All these issues with the same model and there has been no recall. Mercedes told us it is a problem with the c250 and it will probably have to be done again after another 50,000 miles. I don't understand if they are aware of this issue why they have not corrected it. It costs about $5000 each time!

The contact owned a 2014 mercedes-benz c250. While driving 60 mph, the vehicle caught on fire without warning. The vehicle was towed to mercedes benz of palm beach (4000 okeechobee blvd, west palm beach, fl 33409). The manufacturer inspected the vehicle and stated that they were not liable for the failure. The vehicle had not been repaired. The failure mileage was 50,200.

Random engine stall involving turbo and intercooler:we purchased this 2014 c250 with roughly 8,000 miles from nearby mb dealer. We have enjoyed the car immensely, exception this very serious "defect" with the engine. Observed on three separate occasions, this problem is very serious and could lead to potential collision while passing another vehicle, because the engine "stalls" under intense acceleration randomly, leaving only one cylinder working. With this one remaining cylinder, the car can barely be operated, shaking etc., but can be maneuvered off the road if possible in traffic, shut off, and re-started without any after-affects.we took to the dealer twice, and both times the mb dealer admits there is a very real problem with, allegedly, the "intercooler," and that "all c250 engines have this same potential problem," and furthermore, mercedes does not currently have a solution or fix, but is working on it. Note: it's been six months since i reported my initial problem and had it recorded (filed at the dealer). The car computer does indicate the problem exists, and records each incident.problem: mb does not have a solution currently. It is very dangerous to have the car under full acceleration in sport mode, and then the car suddenly without warning shuts down ("computer generated stall"). I was fortunate to be going very fast merging onto interstate traffic, then able to get off the road before i was rear-ended. This same scenario has occurred on two other occasions without any accident, and while motor was not even heavily stressed as the initial incident.

The vehicle was destroyed and towed back to the dealer. The dealer stated that the failure was not caused by the previous repair. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and opened an investigation. The failure mileage was approximately 50,187.

Leased our mercedes and shortly afterwards we started experiencing hesitation, lagging and even stalling of the vehicle as we tried to accelerate. Twice the vehicle has stalled as we pulled into traffic, narrowly escaping possible injury and damaging several cars. Hesitation has occurred without warning, (pressing on accelerator and the engine does not respond by evidence of no rpm increase). Again, this has occured numerous times. We have had the vehicle back to mercedes four times, for a total of 39 days!!!! and still to this day, the vehicle still has the issue, while mercedes claims there isn't a problem with the vehicle. They have given us every excuse in the book of why no problem exists, even after the service manager stated that the car has a 6 second delay which is unacceptable!!!!!!!two different individuals have drove the vehicle and experienced the same hesitation problem. The car in our eyes is a hazard to the streets and highways of the state of florida. We are paying for a car that is dangerous and has the high probability of causing an accident with catastrophic results...........

Takata recall headlight, modules component controlling the headlight, and the seal. Moist gets in the headlight and damages the light. Had to place on both headlights and the modules units in the back of headlights that controls all lights. Was in motion both times. Dashboard indicated check all lights; it was correct. Both needed serviced

The contact owned a 2014 mercedes-benz c250w. While driving approximately 40 mph, the vehicle began to decelerate on its own and the check engine indicator illuminated. The failure recurred. The vehicle was taken to mercedes-benz of palm beach (4000 okeechobee blvd, west palm beach, fl 33409, 561-689-6363) where it was diagnosed that the fuel pump needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. While driving back home at approximately 30 mph, the driver heard a hissing sound and dark smoke gushed from underneath the hood without warning. The vehicle was pulled over to the side of the road. Flames approximately seven feet high poured out from the hood and engulfed the entire vehicle. The police and fire departments were called to the scene. The fire was extinguished by the fire department. There were no injuries and a police report was not filed. My vehicle losses power and car moved into (limp mode) during the acceleration process for passing, merging onto freeway, coming out of a corner and accelerating.upon dealer diagnosis p0002 comes up as hpfp as the cause, and i was notified as this being a common issue with the 1.8l motor in my vehicle.along with timing chain, and tensioner. I was told these issues while driving are directly related to causes accidents.

I was driving on glades road, boca raton, fl. I heard a loud noise, saw smoke and lost my power steering. I managed to pull into town center mall, got out of the car and saw that the car was on fire. The boca raton police came, #5 fire department came. The fire was put out and the car was towed to mercedes of delray.

I purchased this c250 in dec 2013,have 3 similar occurrence were the engine failed to respond. Once coming out of a light, and twice on i-95 both times trying to switch lanes to get out of on coming traffic, and on both occasions the vehicle did not respond to the gas pedal. One of the incidents occurred with cruise control engaged. We were lucky were not killed by the semi tractor trailers. Am a retire air force firefighter and i have seen some horrible stuff on the highways, thank god it was not meant to be those days. I contacted mercedes-benz usa hq. On all these safety occurrence below and all [xxx] at hq 1 800 367 6372 [xxx] would tell me is that vehicle was under warranty.... On the last time it happen they said the new engine had backfired and they were going the replace a fuel port or something... In this new vehicle. Engine 3x, new brakes, alignment, dead battery, tan leather turning blue. Thanks in advance.information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).

The contact owns a 2014 mercedes-benz c250. The contact stated that while her daughter was driving at various speeds, she depressed the brake pedal but it hesitated to respond. As a result, excessive force was applied to the brake pedal in order to slow down the vehicle. Due to the failure, the driver lost control of the vehicle and crashed into the barrier wall and the metal fence. No air bags were deployed. The contact's daughter sustained a fractured nose, lip laceration, and other unknown facial injuries due to the driver hitting the steering wheel during the impact. No medical attention was contacted yet but will be in the future. A police report was filed. The police transferred the vehicle from the crash site to a tow yard where the police are awaiting the insurance adjustor. Damages were to the front end. The manufacturer nor the dealer was contacted about the failure. The failure mileage was approximate 60,000

This problem first started 2 days after purchase of this brand new 2014 mercedes c class. Upon starting the vehicle the emergency brake indicator light comes on and alarm starts dinging even though the emergency brake has never been applied. The only way to make it stop is to pull the emergency brake release lever.this has occurred during initial start-up and while driving.the problem was reported to the dealership and their technicians response is " the c class does that".after taking the vehicle back to the dealer the technicians said since they couldn't recreate the problem, nothing must be wrong.once i drove 30 miles to the dealership with the emergency brake light on and alarm dinging so they could witness it.the manager and technician met me in the garage and had me pull the lever;the pedal actually moved by about an inch.the manager and tech practically accused me of partially applying the brake (which i told them i have never pulled since owning the car). I told them this makes the situation even more serious because the brake may actually auto-apply while driving. Still, no concern about safety, or resolving the problem. Their resolution was for me to bring the vehicle in to trade for a used 2013 or used 2014 or pay to move into the e class which they say doesn't have this problem.

Takata recall: to date nothing has happened.however, my auto is listed in the airbag recall notice as having defective grounding in the steering column which could lead to a premature deployment of the airbag.

The contact owns a 2014 mercedes-benz c250. The contact received notification of nhtsa campaign number: 17v627000 (air bags); however, the part needed for the repair was not available. The contact stated that the manufacturer exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The dealer was contacted (mercedes-benz of arcadia, 626-701-8904, 101 n santa anita ave, arcadia, ca 91006) and confirmed that the part was not available for the recall repair. The manufacturer was not notified. The contact had not experienced a failure. Parts distribution disconnect.

I purchased my used car at jerry damson 3/17/18 and this car has been at the mercedes dealer stating this is unable to drive, they reset a light that damson described from removing the seat, it appear that it has came back on. It was here the entire 30days warranty i had. Im upset! it was smoking and cracking and making all sorts of noise along with the horn and buttons do not work. Mercedes says no way to fix this and can not drive this unsafe car. I have not had this car 10 full days!! its still there. They are saying i should pay for this and it clearly states that mercedes will. Help!!!!! my car was in motion. My car is still at the dealer for this issue help!!

Inop driver door interior handle. Defect affects the safety integrity of the product. Took it to dealer for warranty repair 6 months ago and they still are unable to fix it.

Stationary vehicle's door latch stopped working while trying to exit the car. The latch is loosely moving around with no connection to the door lock whatsoever.

When it is raining water come from the top of the car

Door handle breaks from the inside, cause it to become completely non-functional. Passengers cannot get out of the car from the inside.

I was driving on the freeway at around 9am cst headed to dfw airport when all of a sudden ijust heard a loud bang. I immediately felt pressure in my ears and it now felt like there was a window open. Having pulled out to a safe spot on the side of the freeway to inspect the vehicle, i was shocked to see the sunroof glass is what had exploded.

Car was being driven at approximately 60 mph on the courtney campbell causeway highway, on a straightaway, that connects clearwater to tampa, florida.suddenly the (closed) sunroof spontaneously exploded, causing a very loud noise and shattered glass to fall down into the passenger compartment.my wife, who was driving managed to maintain control of the car and pull to the side of the road.given the car's speed and surrounding traffic (morning rush hour) it is unbelievable that the sunroof explosion did not cause an accident. The police were called and arrived on scene. No police report was filed, as there was no accident and no injury.the car was taken to mercedes benz of tampa bay.they took pictures and gave us a loaner car and said that they would make a determination as to who would be responsible for the repair.the incident occurred on 5/1/2019 at roughly 7:45 am.it was not until friday, 5/3/2019 that we heard from the service consultant, indicating that the car was out of warranty and therefore the repair was our responsibility.it took the dealership over 2.5 days to make that determination ... Seems like that determination could have been made in about 5 minutes.could it be that mercedes benz usa was involved in evaluating the resulting liability if they were to take responsibility?given that there was no identifiable cause for the exploding sunroof, it is evident to me that it's a manufacturers defect that could easily have caused an accident and serious injury or death, and yet mercedes benz assumes no responsibility.a cost to repair/replace the sunroof glass was provided verbally (over $1,700.00).this spontaneous explosion of a sunroof is apparently something that has occurred in the past with mercedes benz, as well as other car manufacturers.this could have a catastrophic outcome ... Any time it happens.

The contact owned a 2014 mercedes-benz c250. While driving 60 mph, the vehicle caught on fire without warning. The contact stated that the failure occurred when retrieving the vehicle from the dealer and that the vehicle had been at the dealer for three months. The police department was called, but a police report was not filed. No injuries were sustained. The fire department was able to extinguish the fire. The vehicle was towed to mercedes benz of palm beach (4000 okeechobee blvd, west palm beach, fl 33409). The manufacturer inspected the vehicle and stated that they were not liable for the failure. The vehicle had not been repaired. The failure mileage was 50,200.

I called my company they said we do not have the parts

The drivers door handle broke while simply trying to open the door to egress the vehicle, i took it ti the dealership and was informed that the door handle used to egress the vehicle was called"trim" and not considered a safety concern. Also, i discovered that the door handle was made of plastic.i wrote to the manager of the dealership and the ceo bringing it to there attention and was told by the customer service rep for mercedes benz america "your concerns were duly noted".i was charged $1,217.28 to have the broken "trim" replaced with more cheap plastic parts......one should have a reasonable expectation of safely egressing the vehicle using the [xxx] door handle !!parts of this document have been redacted to protect personally identifiable information pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).

I was in a head on collision and the airway did not deploy

Cabin fills up with fuel smell, visible leak under fuel tank and by the front left tire. Leak and smell occurs both in motion and stationary/idle.

The driver's side interior door handle is defective and broken.mbusa refuses to honor extended warranty to replace defective parts.

The rear spoiler flew off thetrunk of the car and became ariborne while driving on the highway at 75 miles an hour.

While slowing to approach a parking space, the car sped forward and jump the curve crashing into a storefront.no one injured.stepping on the brakes did not stop or even slow down the car.

The contact owns a 2014 mercedes benz c250. While driving approximately 65 mph, a warning light illuminated and the vehicle decelerated and became inoperable. The vehicle was able to be restarted and was towed by the dealer, who was not able to diagnose the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified. The approximate failure mileage was 10,000.

I was exiting the interstate and making a l turn onto another highway. As i am in the turn i hear a loud pop and see that my sunroof has shattered. It remained intact and did not shower me with glass but it is cracked and bowed it on all corners and is bowed up in the center of the glass.
