Takata recall: mercedes benz's airbag recall was issued in february 2016 and, almost 2 years later, still no remedy is available. Mercedes has still not offered any repair (or mitigation) for the deadly airbags they installed in their vehicles. It is completely unacceptable that, after two years, mercedes has not been able to develop any repair or mitigation for this deadly defect. How about an "off" switch for the defective airbags until mercedes can figure out how to fix them?

I received a recall on the airbag and electrical system

I was driving my three month old 07 mercedes benzc230 sport sedan. I had 1 passenger with me and ientered the intersection in the#1 lane andi felt an impact to the driver door as the airbag deployed. I steered thesteering wheel to the right , causing the rear driver's side to fishtail in the island. As i went across the lanes i steered to the left to avoid the front end. My passenger rear tire hit the curb. As i exitedthe vehicle i noticed there were no other vehicles around and nothing in the roadway.thecar had no damage, just scratches to the body. Both rear rims had damage from the fishtail effect. I immediately called mercedes benzaboutthe airbags malfunctioning.mercedes sent a representative, whodeterminedmethat i must have ran over something in the road, causingthedriver'sside rear tire to lock, which resultedin loss ofcontrol over the vehicle. Ithit the curb, causing the airbag to deploy.i went out to the dealership to take a look underneath the vehicle.i observed no damageunderneath. The only damage was to the inside rear driver side tire which had a light scratch mark whichshould have been a dent.they stated it was my problem, and they did not see anything wrong with the airbag.i contacted mercedes benzcollision center about airbag deployment.mechanic stated the sensor from the drivers sidewasin the door and should have goneoff if something hit the right point.i contacted mercedesbenz corporation askingto speak to the representativ e who came out with the decision, they denied my request. I informed mercedes benzthat maybe there was no a defect in other mercedes benz vehicles, but there was one with mine.i told them that i am a police officer and luckily i knew how to manuever a car in that type of situation because of all the trainingi have had.i told them if it was somebody else the car would have been totaled and someone could have died.they told me pound sand, well not in those exact words.

I have been checking with mercedes since the recall was initiated in the system (over a year...almost 2 now) about getting the airbags replaced as my now pregnant wife drives that vehicle. They have confirmed the airbags in the car are the recalled takata airbags but, no actions have been taken by mercedes to provide a solution to this recall for resolution thus placing millions in harms way as a result of inaction. I wonder what the news would think of this or my attorney?

Takata recalli have notification from mercedes and nhtsa numerous times that the recall part is ready and that i should make an appointment. However, every time i make appointment, the dealer (mercedes-benz of plano, texas) they have nothing available for my both of my cars. Takata recalli have 2 vehicles affected and there is no planned remedy. I havent received any updates. This is going on 2 years. It will be too late when someone gets harmed or killed. 2014 dodge avenger and this mercedes.

Takata recall. Mercedes-benz usa (mbusa) has been unable to provide us with any estimate whatsoever as to when our vehicle may be repaired. We were notified of the recall in may. Just yesterday (15 september) we were told that nhtsa was determining when the parts would be made available to mercedes-benz, and that there is no way mbusa can tell us even approximately when the vehicle can be repaired. The dealer said that the nhtsa was in charge of the coordinated replacement plan. That's not what your web site says. Mbusa claims the vehicle is completely safe to drive, even though it is equipped with the same takata psdi-5 drivers-side airbag inflator which has killed at least ten people in other automobiles. Mbusa bases this claim on the assertion that there has not been a reported death or injury caused by a defective airbag inflator in a mercedes vehicle to date.to use that assertion as the basis for putting many thousands of motorists at an increased risk of death or serious injury in mercedes-benz vehicles seems highly irresponsible. It is not reasonable to ask the motorist to assume this risk. I don't see any evidence that the company has a sense of urgency about this recall, much less a real plan for getting the repairs done.

Takata recall. I have called mbz of anaheim on nov 11 2017 and they answer that no part is available for scheduling the airbag replacement. Please tell me what i should do. Thank you

Takata recallgood morning, it has been about a year since i received a letter saying that mb was working on a remedy for the air bags, and once one is found, i would be notified to bring it in for service.i believe this process is rather untimely, and if it is such a safety issue, why am i still waiting a year later.please let me know of any updates, thank you.

Takata recall

Takata recall- i haven't received any notice of when i can get my airbags replaced. I have been driving around for the better part a year with these things still in there. Who's responsible to let me know? mercedes or someone else.

There are issues with the engine and the car will not start. There's a class action against mercedes in regards to this same engine issue. The car was in motion when it cut off and another time after being stationary the car would not start. There was never a check engine light or any signs that indicated engine issues before the engine completely failed. I also received a notice about my airbag having a recall about a year ago and this issue has not been resolved.

"takata recall" i bought my car used in january 2017 with an open recall from january 2016, it has been almost 2 years now and mercedes benz of walnut creek has stated they will contact me when the replacement parts are available. I worry constantly about driving my car with defective airbags and worry about my safety. I cannot understand why it takes almost 2 years to replace an item that can possibly cause my death. This is unacceptable to me and i would like to have this resolved immediately.

Me, [xxx], and my ex-wife went to buy this car from a auto auction, plate where out state, but i figure wouldn't cost me much to register, bought it february 6, 2021 and i am kind of short in money to register car but then couple week after driving check engine pop up so i had free check engine by auto zone parts, so then it wasn't serious needed change oil change and filters, so i drove more so everything was going good ready for smoke check, but i didn't have the money so i ask my ex-wife to let me borrow money around may of month, so i was driving to her home, and out of no where i got hit in the front driver side lower fender from some silver low profile car, i was going 30's mile street but when i got hit by anomies driver the driver side bag pop up and also the passenger side too!! i was stunt and confused, wasn't a hard hit, driver that hit me run off, i pulled over the side of street.couple light show up in dash board i don't recall what they said.i called my lawyer an he mention there was problems and recalls in a takata air bag deploying.i did a research and sure enough my car had takata air bags.i contact to this number[xxx] executive referral manager mercedes-benz usa, llc one mercedes-benz drive sandy springs, ga 30328-4312 phone: 800-367-6372 ext. [xxx] fax: 770-705-0152 on june 11, 2021.i made the report, on june 16, 2921 they sent a email that they will fallow up and investigate, i did sent pictures and mileage 150,000 around there so am still waiting for their action.information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).

"takata recall" on my 2007 mercedes. I did not receive a letter from mercedes about the takata recall . I found out through the internet. I went to my local mercedes dealership and ask about getting a rent a car until parts were available, which they refused. I advised that i was not going to drive the until it was repaired, due to several deaths. Their response was that, "it was not likely to happen,"on the recall information that i pulled up on the internet, it says that the recall came out on feb 11 2016, today is april 27, and i haven't had anycommunication from mercedes, so i have a car setting in the garage that i can't drive. Just two week ago an 18 yr old girl was killed in her honda, when she had a minor accident. She should not have died, due to this finder-bender. I would like for someone in nhtsa to investigate why i am not getting any update from mercedes ?when will parts be available to install ?someone at mercedes knows the answer, i want to know also.......thanks for your help.

I was on the freeway driving to work with a co-worker when the passenger side airbag in my 2007 c230 deployed. There was not a collision or contact with my vehicle at all. The bag on the passenger side arm rest struck my passenger right arm quite violently causing her pain for 4 days and the drivers side airbag constricted and put a 4 inch cut on my neck. When i took my vehicle to mercedes of laguna niguel wherei purchased the vehicle new only 2 months ago they refused to repair the airbags sitting small scratches on both passenger side rims and their claim of the tires bubbling and proof the vehicle was in a collision. However 10 days previously i had accidentally scraped the vehicles rims while parking. I can assure you this vehicle was in excellent condition wheni went in for repairs to the airbags and the events i have described are exactly as they occurred. The dealership asked me to contact my insurance company, which i did, however i relayed the same information to them as i am relaying to you. I am outraged at the dealership and feel they should repair the faulty airbags on this vehicle. Please advise.

The contact owns a 2007 mercedes benz c230. The contact stated that the engine light illuminated intermittently. The contact mentioned that the vehicle exhibited failures related to loss of acceleration, electrical failures with the turning signals, air bag light illumination and exhaust system. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic. The technician diagnosed that the crank shaft sensor and the camshaft sensor were defective. Also, the actuator timing chain, balance shaft and the valve cover needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 13,000.

Balance shaft premature failure found by cel (check engine light) during diagnostics check at mercedes benz of nashville, tn. The engine has been running well so i was shocked that the first time my check engine light came on that the repair is the balance shaft $5,600 repair. Mbusa refused good will assistance to service director [xxx] on 8/21/13. The service report shows all engine related checks are green/good except for the check engine light reading balance shaft replacement required. I drive over 100 interstate miles daily so the warranty is exceeded quickly. Based on # of claims this is a common problem that will eventually be a safety hazard because the car will fail to accelerate when merging and even stall out complete at any speed. Where is the recall????? information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).

The contact owns a 2007 mercedes benz c230. The contact stated that the check engine warning light illuminated, the speedometer was inoperableand the esp bas control was also illuminated.the dealer was notified and the contact was awaiting a service appointment.the manufacturer advised the contact that her vin had not been included in nhtsa campaign id number: 08v303000 (electrical system).the vehicle was taken to a private mechanic where they performed a diagnostic which confirmed that the control unit needed to be replaced.the current and failure mileage was approximately 69,000.

Takata recall!

The brakes failed while driving my 2007mercedesbenz.5th time. I leased a mbenz 2007 c230w from bill ussery mercedes january 2007.2 weeks from purchase brought the car into service told them the car would shake vigorously when pressing on brakes to slow down from 40mph or more. Told nothing was wrong. 2months later brought car back and car was shaking when braking. Confirmed the shaking and brake rotors brake pads, brake discs were replaced, front suspension loose/tightened. This has occurred now on 5 separate occassions. Ongoing since february of 2007. I felt unsafe in the car. Called mbusa on 4 separate occasions beginning in october til now. Claim was filed and i never heard back. On may of 2008,my brakes did not work while traveling on the interstate. I went to slow down to exit,no brakes!car shook worse than ever!had the car towed into mercedes. I will not drive that car again!they refuse to replace the car. Once again stated they fixed my car,to pick it up or storage fees would be charged and car impounded. I refuse to drive a car that can injure or kill me or my son or someone else. The service records on this car clearly state all of the above. Mercedes benz refuses to accept responsibility blaming me as the cause for the rotors, brake pads and discs to be replaced 5 times in less than one year. They won't test drive the car on the interstate to simulate what happened to me, but they want me to come get the car and drive it?i am still without a car and i paid for this lease in full 2yrs. I will never drive it again. No one should have to drive it period!i have never had problems with mercedes benz and i love their cars, but this one in particular is defective. Please help me. Thanks.

My check engine light stays on which mercedes benzstated its the magnetic stabilizer . Which was stated thata recall maybe coming. This causes a malfunction in having your emission to have a faulty reading. I have less than 120,000 on it . When i have taken to the dealership or service the light still came on. To my understanding a class action was taken against the company by this model was skipped over.

The car reached 110,000 miles and the balance shaft in my m272 is worn out i always take it to get it serviced i found out others had the same problem and created a facebook group i just don't think they should replace it with the same quality balance shaft if it continues to fail prematurely eventually i'll ruin my entire engine which i thought of mercedes to be quality please help vin# [xxx]redacted to protect personally identifiable information pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6). *cc

The balance shaft issue is a known issue to mercedes in the m272 and m273 models caused by defective material used in making it. I have added the excerpt from the mercedes service bulletin :"applicable models (not applicable to model 164.156, 204 or 216.386): equipped with m272 engine up to serial no. 2729..30 468993 or m273 engine up to serial no. 2739..30 088611.the material for the balance shaft sprocket and the timing chain guide wheel (idler) was modified on engines past the serial numbers listed above"there should be a recall on this part. My check engine light came on driving at high speeds and found out it was an engine issue that mercedes doesn't want to take responsibility for.

The check engine light came on and i had the car looked into at a reputable mb dealership.the codes that were read were c1200 and c1208 for intake and camshaft timing retarded (need balance shaft).this is a $4,000 repair.i cannot believe that this is a problem on a vehicle with less than 100,000 miles on it. I also see that i am not alone in having this problem on my c230 mb.apparently many others have or had this same issue with the engine on 2006 and 2007 c230's.i did not have the work done due to the expensive costs.however i am now unable to drive my car because i run the risk of being stranded as i drove it the same day i picked it back up from the dealership and it would not start.after waiting several minutes and trying to start the vehicle back up it started as normal.it is very frustrating to drive the car and not ever know if it will start or not.

Sudden loss of propulsion, rpms elevated dramatically. From a stopped position the car did not regain normal propulsion and barely moved.after turning the engine off and then back on, propulsion returned to normal.

The contact owns a 2007 mercedes-benz c230. The contact stated that the vehicle vibrated and the engine warning indicator illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who diagnosed that the camshaft failed. The manufacturer was not notified. The vehicle was not repaired. The vin was not available. The failure mileage was 43,000.

I purchased a 2007 mercedes benz c230 sport from a private seller. I soon learned that the vehicle was in limp mode. The dealer said it was the transmission conductor plate. After hours of research, i discovered several owners of a mercedes with the 772.9 transmission have been experiencing the same issue. I ended up paying $2500 for a new tcu from mercedes benz.

The contact owns a 2007 mercedes benz c230. While driving approximately 55 mph, the vehicle failed to shift into any other gear after the check engine warning indicator illuminated. The contact pulled over and powered the vehicle off and back on; however, the failure persisted. The vehicle was towed to the dealer. The technician diagnosed that the intake manifold and exhaust manifold fractured. Also, the technician stated that the transmission module failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 109,000.

I purchased mercedes benz c230, 2007 from the local honda dealership, and in a week the "check engine" light came on. I brought back the car to its service division and it said that code was a problem. They did something and the light went off for a week. Then, i returned to their service center again and they said that fuel was not being supplied evenly in the engine. Suggested to go to the mercedes service center. I took the car to the mercedes dealership in marion, il. They turned of the light by updating computer program. However, in a week the light came on again. I purchased it on march 31, 2014.i went to the local honda dealership to refund my money. However, they refused. They said that this car had similar problem a year ago. The honda dealership did not check well the car's background before selling. They said that the background of the car was clean.i cannot drive this car to long distance with this faulty. It is simply unsafe.i requested to refund my payment of 13,500, and they refused.please helpsincerely

I purchased my car brand new, it was never previously owned and directly from a mercedes benz dealer.i started having problems with speed and gear shifting back in may 2012.when driving on the freeway normal speed (55mph) the car would begin to slow down no matter how much i pressed the accelerator the car would slow to a complete stop.i would have to attempt to pull over off the freeway, turn the car completely off, let it sit and then start it again and the car would run normal.when i get off the freeway or now even when i am driving on a back road going 35 mph the car would shake as i came to a stop sign or traffic light (as if i was driving a stick shift and didn't put the car in neutral or press the clutch) and then it would shut down completely.now i am having a third issue in addition to these issues where the car will shift gears on it's own and i'm driving in automatic mode not as a 5 speed.this is completely ridiculous for me to have transmission issue on a mercedes benz that i purchased new.i took it to a dealer who claims that i have to replace the entire transmission due to one small piece within the transmission system.i have checked online and have seen that hundreds of other benz owners are having the same problems with no resolution from the manufacturer.i am requesting an investigation and a recall.this is an extreme safety hazard that a car will completely shut down while on a freeway and there have been times when i have almost collided with other cars due to the immediate decline in speed.i have to always find a way to pull over to shut off the car.i purchased this car because of the quality that it should provide.please follow up with me regarding this issue i am extremely concerned that requests are being ignored by the manufacturer and no one is looking into this matter.

The contact owns a 2007 mercedes-benz c230wz. The contact stated that the check engine indicator illuminated. The vehicle was taken to mercedes-benz of scottsdale (4725 n scottsdale rd, scottsdale, az 85251) where it was diagnosed that the balance shaft needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 132,000.

I was on the highway and the car suddenly stopped accelerating and the rpm's ran way up and the car would not accelerate. I tried putting it in neutral then drive and nothing. I pulled over turned the car off for a few min. Then back on. The car operated normally. The check engine light also came on and ihad all the necessary service done on the car at that time. The car has done this increasingly for the last year and it is now becoming a hazard. The car has started jumping when put in drive and it is alarming. I cannot afford to replace the transmission and i feel mercedes should take responsibility for a defect in this model. I have children and this is my only car. I don't feel safe in it anymore and my children don't either.

I purchased my 2007 c230 new from the dealership. My car has been experiencing transmission issues of the car not down shifting into the next gear and the car's speed declining while driving. This has happened driving on surface streets at 20mph and on the freeway going 65mph. I've even attempted to take it out of automatic drive and into manual shift and the car will not respond. The only way to "reboot" it is if i pull over and turn the vehicle off and restart it after a few minutes. This is a major mechanical/manufacturer defect as my vehicle has been well maintained and only has 40,000 miles!!! to have to pull over on a major interstate is not safe by any means. When taking it to the dealership they inspected it and diagnosed the problem as a transmission valve failure that will need replacement at a cost of $1300. For a vehicle that only has 40,000 miles, well maintained with regular service this is unacceptable. I purchased a mercedes based on their reliability and when contacting corporate for review in the matter they said they would be able to offer me a 10% discount. I do not have a problem paying for regular up keep and if other items need to be updated/replaced to keep the car in good condition but to have transmission issues at 40,000 miles is absolutely unacceptable and is a manufacture defect that needs review and recall.

August of this year i had to get a speed sensor replaced that cost me $1200.00 because the vehicle would not go over 30 mph and was running at a high rpm. The vehicle demonstrated this problem over a year before i actually had to take it into a repair shop. I could usually pull over and cut the car off and cut it back on and it would correct itself which was totally ridiculous. Something really needs to be done pertaining to the faulty parts used to build these vehicles. I feel my $1200.00 also needs to be refundedback to me in a check form asap.

I was on the fwy and then all of a sudden the car shut down on me it completely turn off. Since i bought the car it does the same problem when i'm on the fwy out of no where the car shut down. I have to wait a few minutes until i can turn on again i almost got into a huge accident with a big rig and i had my manager who witness how the car just shut down. I feel that the car is very unsafe steering wheel not stable correctly and i feel that it has some kind of engine and transmission problem but the weird part no check engine light comes up to diagnose the problem. I took the car to the dealership more then 3x and they said the car was perfectly fine.

Takata recall!

There is a known manufacture defect in the m272 engine. The engine balance shaft sprocket was made of soft metal which causes the drive sprocket to wear prematurely. This wear causes the timing of the engine to become off, which then causes the car to automatically go into limp mode. In limp mode, the car suddenly cannot be driven over 20 mph and the engine has to be shut off and restarted to exit limp mode. I approached a mercedes benz dealership and the estimate for the repair was over $7,000! this engine defect causes the car to go into limp mode and is very dangerous.

2016 i took my 2007 mercedes benz c230, into mercedes benz to see why the check engine light was on. My car was purchased with 37k miles on it at the time i purchased it. How could such a major issue, arise in car so early in it's life. Mercedes stated, that they make the best quality of cars in the world! they stand by this slogan. However, why would such a major issue occur in a car with such low miles/usage? as i understand it, matters of this magnitudeideally does not occur in such a quality car, let alone in the cars infant stage or would likely happen at all! i was told sometime ago that mercedes knew of this issue. I also searched the internet and discovered so many owners are having the same issue around the world. Mercedes has refused to correct, its defect it was well aware of!who allows mercedes benz, the platform to see these cars to consumers, without resolving the issue. Considering a person's financial investment in their purchase!can someone help me, understand how this has happened.

Check engine came on so i take it to the shop they said it was the crankshaft sensors code but that code was not for the sensors it was for the timing chain they said its not running on time so now to fix it they are charning me almost $4000 i hear and been reading that a lot of people have the same problem with this engine they timing goes off so i think this problem should be investigated its so much money not even the car is worth that miney no more

Enginecooling systemmajor engine repairengine oil leakengine belt drivemajor oil usagerear r/discs & pads; thecar was taken to the alexandria mercedes-benz dealership for check engine light; i rec'd a list of over $6,000 (above) worth of engine problems; i was also told that the cam sensors were bad; no cost was listed; i left the location, car started stalling and hesitating; took it to another local ntb dealer for a machine reading, and was told that a part of the engine manifold was broken - plastic part that controls the air flow and enables fuel flow; took it back to the dealer; they refused to repair my engine manifold; the car is now dangerous to drive; jumped out of gear on the major highway back to dc - all of this is a shock; the car has had all of its annual service; kept up; has had car cover; zi bought it new in 2007; now with only 40,000 miles, the engine should not disintegrate; the entire attitude of the alexandria mb dealership is horrific; as a consumer i was robbedand my safety and those on the road were endangered due to this poor service and possible inflated list of engine problems, one of which i was told they created.and at any rate, md is responsible for making certain these engine problems should not exist, after all this is not normal wear and tear; no one told me that the car engine was only good for 40,000!

Problem shifting gear. Only 47k miles. Stuck in the freeway only acceleration of 30 mph. Dealership diagnosis conductor plate $1800-2800 repair. Vin not available.

Dtc 1208 code appears.due to positioning of timing chain relative to crankshaft.engine m272 caused by worn sprocket on the balance shaft of engine.mercedes has repair kit available but has modified this problem on newer vehicles.this is a common occurrence on this engine, and should be part of a national recall compaign.the internet is full of complaints over this and i believe there is currently a class action law suit about this.

Vehicle seems to run fine but after a cold morning start the check engine light illuminated. After taking it to the dealership for diagnostics (totaling $105.00) it was revealed that the code rendering the balance shaft or possible bad sensor was the reason for the check engine light illuminating. The estimate cost for this repair is ranging from 5 to 6 grand. This is highly unacceptable for a vehicle with only 45,000 miles. 2007, mercedes benz, c230, black on black, that has been stored for a majority of its existence because i am deployed overseas does not send a good impression when the company will not admit that there is a definite problem with this engine type. In today's economy, consumers spend a little more to reassure this type of repair is avoided by purchasing a more reliable source of transportation. I guess i should have purchased a chevy or ford, at least then i would be expecting this type of nonsense.

Although i no longer have the vehicle as it was leased, around a year, a year and 4 months ago, my mercedes benz was making a weird noise from the engine as well so my check engine light had been on for weeks/months.when i took it into a mb dealership they had to first get my approval to take apart the engine to diagnose the problem, of course i said ok since it was a leased car.once they found out the problem they suggested i needed a new engine based on a problem w/ the cylinders and that the fact i hadn't given the vehicle the proper oil changes, however i believe it was a problem caused by the balance shift gears. So they told me that it was going to cost me around $7000 to fix the problem by putting in a brand new engine, i asked if mb could help w/ the cost but they refused, claiming that since i didn't have a record of sufficient oil changes they wouldn't help....so i had a tow truck pick up the car from the mb dealership and take it to another shop where they found an engine and put it in for a little less, i had to have it done since it was leased and i had to return it back to mb.i hope that mb takes responsibility for this.

All 4 cam shaft sensors failed at the same time.

The engine light came on asking me to go to the next gas station and check oil. When i took to the next day to a mechanic and upon a thorough diagnostics, i was told that the balance shaft (in take camshaft code 1208) and exhaust camshaft, code 1200 need to be replaced due to premature wear and faulty parts.

We have a 2007 mercedes benz c230 sport. Shortly after purchasing this vehicle used with 32000 miles on it we started having balance shaft problems. Since then we have had the balance shaft sensor, and magnets replaces along with the crank case sensor. The vehicles check engine light is still coming on and we are now being told the balance shaft solenoids need to be replaced as well.

Fc 1208 complaint for engine/engine cooling; a balance shaft issue.

I was entering to my car and adjust the steering wheel, but it did not lock the wheel now is up and down and so dangerous to drive any movement and the wheel goes up or down depend how i turn down left or right and they said that is not a company recall on that situation, but is a safety mara should be cover is very unsafe to driveand so expensive to fixed.

Low beam driver side headlight is out and goes out when replacing bulb. I always take my car to the mercedes dealership, where i purchased new in 2007, for maintenance.service rep says the wiring in headlamp is corrosive and needs replacing. My husband looked at the wires and they seem to have melted.the lights have to be replaced at $350 each (x2) and the labor as well to remove the bumper and put in the new lights. This seems to be an issue w/ these cars and needs to be corrected or recalled.i've never heard of another vehicle doing this, nor costing nearly $1000 to replace two headlights, which is crucial for safety. I have looked to see if there are any recalls but have not seen any. Please advise if there are.

I was driving about 60 mph suddenly my car was jerking and shaking the speed started to decrease and the car suddenly turned off i was able to pull over to the side of the road and i had to turn the key to start it the engine light turned on and i was able to drive off like regular. The next day i was on the freeway exiting i was going like 40 mph when i decreased my speed to stop and make a turn my rpm was at high 4-5 and my speed was 20mph i had to step on the pedal all the way just to get to 20 mph.

When vehicle is refueled, strong odor of gasoline emits from rear passenger seat and rear exterior of vehicle. Odor lingers until tank is down to about 1/2 full.

After filling up gas tank, a gas odor appear in the car cabin. After searching on google, i found out that this is a known problem with lots of mercedes cars/models and it should be a recall!

Strong raw fuel odor was noticed after fill up on multiple occasions.investigation found that both the fuel pump housing and the fuel sender housings were cracked allowing raw fuel to leak out.this is exactly the same as the e class recall.this recall needs to be extended to include the c class as well as this car has an identical failure mode.

My 2007 c230 mercedes benzhave a strong fuel odor after came from the rear seat after each filled up. But no fuelleak on the ground. This is similar problem among e class model. Are there any recall on this issue.

The contact owns a 2007 mercedes benz c230. The contact stated that fuel fumes were emitted into the vehicle and the residential garage after refueling. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, who diagnosed that the left fuel sending unit and two seals needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The vehicle was repaired. The failure mileage was 7,719 and the current mileage was 18,624. Updated 08/28/12*lj

For many months have noticed strong fuel smell from left rear wheel well whenever tank is over 3/4 full.mb dealer confirms above similar diagnosis and approximately 1k repair cost, gas is leaking out and pooling on top of sender unit.

The left side fuel sending unit is leaking gas.

I own a 2007 c230 which is garaged every winter. I filled the gas tank before putting the car away for the season. When i returned two week later i noticed a very strong smell of gasoline had filled the garage.after driving the car for a day and lowering the level of fuel in the tank the smell had gone. After some research i am finding this is a common problem with mercedes cars. I would not expect this to happen on a vehicle with less than 50 k on it. I also own a 07'' c280 which has the same problem, intense smell of gas after filling the tank. I feel that this strong smell of gasoline fumes provides a dangerous condition and is unsafe.

Engine failed to start; would crank, but would not start. Key had to be returned to off position to stop cranking action. Maintenance supervisor claims teh fuel pump was at fault.

My 2007 mercedes benz c230 sport continually releases strong gasoline smell after each gas tank fill-up.this occurred consistently for the last four months.i've taken my car to the mercedes benz dealership local in my area only for them to say there is no reported recall or the cost to fix this matter is significantly costly.after researching this matter, i discovered there is a reasonable number of owners with a similar model and year that have reported the same serious risk of gasoline smell.embedded is a link to the online site where these reportings are captured.http://m.carcomplaints.com/mercedes-benz/c230/2007/fuel_system/fuel_propulsion_system.shtmldue to the nature and probable serious hazard of fumes exposure within the family household let alone other significant health risk, i'm requesting immediate assistance from the nhtsa to bring this matter to a resolve.according to public data, mercedes benz has recall numerous other vehicle models for the same defect which unfortunately did not include the 2007 c230 sport model.please advise.

After i fill the tank up with gasoline the car smells like gas! especially in the rear on the inside and out.huge safety and environmental issue.seems to be very common with this year and should be made a recall.fuel vapors are unhealthy to be breathing and should not be release into the atmosphere.not to mention my gas mileage has decreased! it should be a recall and not a "wear and tear" issue because the car cannot even register the issue no cel (check engine light) appears but yet the fuel is obviously leaking.i read into it and many people say it has to do with cracked housings on the fuel pump and sender?please make this a recall!! huger safety concern what if i crash and the car ignites from the inside!

Fuel tank leaks gasoline into the back seat area from the fuel tank module if filled more than about 3/4 full.fuel tank leak also causes p0442 code for leak in evap emissions control system.this is the same problem that resulted in the recall/warranty extension on 2003-09 e class and cls class mercedes benz, but mb refuses to accept responsibility for c class vehicles

I believe this is related to nhtsa action number ea13003. There appear to be complaints by others as wellfor the 2007 c230 regarding this issue.basically, whenever i fill up my tank, i smell gas outside of the car, not inside. The smell seems to be strongest at the right side passenger mirror door area near the hood of the car. Then after a gallon or two has been used, the smell goes away. It took me a while to reproduce and identify this pattern because i don't refill my tank all that often (i drive about 2k miles a year.) i first started noticing this smell around june 2014 after i had my spark plugs replaced due to the recommended age limits. At first i thought it was due to that.so i took my car to the dealership and they identified a leak after i described my problem. I have lost all confidence in mercedes due to a number of issues on my low mileage car, that i started researching this in google and discovered other people describing the same problem of fuel odor when the tank is full. This leak also corroborates what i have noticed on the fuel gauge; the fuel gauge drops from full to 3/4 full after driving about about 25 miles or so. That can't be right because 25 miles or so is not even 2 gallons of fuel, and the tank holds about 13 gallons, unless there is a leak.please see if the problem which affected the e class models from the same time period is affecting the c class model. Thank you.

When vehicle is refueled, strong odor of gasoline exists from rear passenger seat and rear exterior of vehicle. There's no visible fuel leak, strong fuel odor especially when inside the garage. No fuel odor when it's less than 3/4 full tank. The car has less than 30k miles when first notice the fuel odor.

The contact owns a 2007 mercedes benz c230. The contact stated that gasoline fumes were emitted in and around the vehicle. The vehicle was not taken to the dealer. The contact owns a 2007 mercedes benz c230. The contact stated that there was a strong fuel odor in the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the fuel pump was fractured and the descending units needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 106,000.

Fuel smell in passenger compartment, most noticeable at drivers position, can also smell at left side engine area.

Strong smell of gas from left rear side of vehicle indicates fuel sending unit is leaking.

I bought the car june 2011 and since then, i have periodically had this problem.from a stop, the car will not accelerate.it feels like it is stuck in a higher gear.or, the opposite happens.i will accelerate, and the car will not change from second to third gear.i have to pull over and restart the engine, and then it works.i have seen numerous complaints online from other owners that they have the same problem.

At left tire area, left fuel sending unit leaking fuel, after fuel fill-up

Car leaks fuel under the seat.

Strong gasoline odor coming from car. The smell is noticed after the car has been driven and is parked in my garage. I am scared that the fumes caused by whatever leak this may be will ignite.

Car will not go over 20 miles after stopping. I have to pull over put the car in park and restart. The car will run fine for awhile and a day or so later, the problem returns. This is extremely unsafe when your in traffic. I'm so afraid i'm going to get hit from behind trying to get off the road. I have been to 3 mechanics and told they cannot fix the problem due the theft deterrent on the car. I have an appointment at mercedes on friday and have been told it will be approx. $2000.00 to replace the plate in the transmission. Something needs to be done.

Car would not start after fill-up. Removed back seat to find a puddle of gas on the fuel pump module (drivers side). Plastic on pump cracked, shorting out module. Big safety hazard.

My 2007 c230 mercedes benz have a strong fuel odor after each fill up. But no fuel leak on the ground. This is similar problem among e class model which have been recalled, i am paying to get my car repaired at the local dealer today.

I purchased a 2007 mercedes benz c230 in 2006 from the mercedes-benz dealership and i have had it in the garage.i've only drove to church and that's it 700 miles is what's on my car.i've noticed about a year ago when i put gas it, you can smell it strong. I thought it was because of the type gas (supreme) what i've been using. I took my car to the dealership this morning to get a oil change when the service advisor told me that the car was leaking fuel.there are two rubber seals onegoes on the driver side and the passenger side under the back seat. He told me that is going to cost $700.00. I asked him how is did that happen because i don't drive my car like that for something to go wrong with it. He states that it is very dangerous and driving the car could cause a fire or worst blow up.the gas is leaking and driving the car if you suddenly have to stop the gas would leak onto the exhaust pipe,if the pipe is hot there is a problem. I said well that has not come from me,i have taken care of my car since i bought it. The service advisor said sir, no this is not something that has been done by you.i said this should have been a recall because my car is brand new not by the year but by the mileage and fir something like this to be so dangerous.he agreed and said he will fix the problem.he put me in a rental from fri-mon and said he will call me when my car is fixed. I get home and later around 6pm he called me and said it was something else wrong from the effects of the gas leak and now want to charge me $1500.00 i told him i don't have that kind of money. And i need help with this because this is ridiculous i need to know if there is a recall or something.because i seen i'm not the only person who has this problem.i feel the dealership should be held responsible.the service advisor agreed with me that it seems to be a malfunction on their end. I need help! thank you

Strong smell of gas on left side due to fuel sending unit/cracked housing.

Leaking fuel pump seals (located over the drivers side rear wheel).caused extreme fuel odor and danger of fire in closed garage.m/b would not warranty/$1,000+ repair costs.

The contact owns a 2007 mercedes benz c230. The contact stated that after refueling the vehicle, there was a strong fuel odor inside the vehicle. The failure recurred numerous times. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 45,000. The vin was not available. 01/13/16 maupdated 05/21/18

Nhtsa recall 08v303000. My car fuel gauge misreads what is not there. Stalls and not restart without tapping the fuel pump. Fuel light indicates fuel sensor need to be replaced. After paying $327.00 still continues to malfunction. Stopped several times on street and parking lots. Towed several times. Refuses to start without notice. Harness for it not found. Impact of accident lost fuel. Since accident towed three times stalled and towed once and twice by mercedes benz. Replacement cost $1051.00.

Strong raw fuel odor was noticed after fill up on multiple occasions. Investigation found that both the fuel pump housing and the fuel sender housings were cracked allowing raw fuel to leak out. This is exactly the same as the e class recall. This recall needs to be extended to include the c class as well as this car has an identical failure mode. I found this issue was previously reported, and would like to second this noted issue. For many months have noticed strong fuel smell from left rear wheel well. Mb dealer confirms above similar diagnosis and approximately 1k repair cost, gas is leaking out and pooling on top of sender unit.

When ever the vehicle is filled with gasoline, there is a fuel smell that persists for as much as several days after.there does not seem to be any visible fuel leaking, but the smell of fuel is there nonetheless.

After refueling car to full, car has a strong fuel smell. The smell persists if the car is over 3/4's full or greater. This has happened since i purchased this car but i couldn't determine where the smell was coming from until i took it to the mechanic and he said the fuel was spilling from the top of the fuel sending unit!!! he mentioned that this is a safety issue and that i need to check if this recalled already. I am now very mortified of this issue!!!

The contact owns a 2007 mercedes benz c230. After refueling the vehicle, the contact smelled fuel inside the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to a dealer, but was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 60,000. The vin was not available.

I filled up my gas tank and immediately could smell a strong gas odor on the drivers side rear area inside the cabin(the gas filler nozzle is located on the passenger side). I had to take it to the dealer on 2 occasions until it was repaired, my fear is this will be recurring.

My 2007 mercedes c230 smells of gas if i fill the tank more than half way. It only has 50,000 miles on it

After filling up the gas tank there is a smell of gas at the back of the car . It goes away after driving about 30 miles but returns when filled up again. Seams to be a common problem with this car .

I was driving the car on 01-04-2013 in traffic the car stalled almost causing an acident. And on 01-06-2013 the car stalled again on a busy street near my house again almost causing an acident.i purchased the car from penske mercedesbenz of west covina on 08-03-2012.i was told that the car was in perfect condition.and that it had been serviced.now i'm afraid to drive the because of having an acident.and also they did not tell me that the car had been on recall for this problem. And now they don't want too fix the car. Can you please get this problem resolved.thank you and have-a-great day.

I noticedgas smell in the garage, i took to mercedes repair shop, the two fuel systems both on the right and left sides where replaced, still smell gas when the gas tank is almost or 3/4 filled took it back to the shop stoll has the same problem.

When i fill up with gas, the car salon fills up with the gas smell. The problem should be in the fuel pump or so. The smell is persistent in the garage. While driving, i did not notice. When the amount of gas in the fuel tank decreases, the smell goes away. I removed the back seat and so the gas residue over the pump.

Fuel tank leak. After tank fill up gasoline smells. Big safety issue.

Every time i filled up the gas tank i would smell gas in the cabin and outside of the vehicle. It has been like this for two years. My car has very low mileage and it drives fine. I keep forgetting to tell the dealership the issues when i bring it in for maintenance.there is definitely an issues with the gas tank. It is getting worst as time goes by.

The contact owns a 2007 mercedes benz c230. The contact stated that when fuel tank was full, there was a fuel odor inside the vehicle. The failure recurred several times. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where it was diagnosed that the canister shut off valve and the fuel tank needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 185,000.

Strong fuel odor after filling up my car. After 2 days odor was still there.took to dealership to be checked and was told that the fuel sending units need to be replaced and will cost $1130.00.. I have very low mileage on my car 48,336.. This is a huge safety and environmental issue. Very unhealthy to breathe in fuel vapors and bad for the atmosphere. This is exactly the same as the "e" class recall. Why wasnt the "c" class included. Please make this a recall on the "c" class.

Strong gasoline vapors inside passenger compartment of car after filling up with fuel. Strongest in region of rear seat.

Every time i filled up on gas i would smell gas inside the cabin. I then proceeded to investigate into why i was smelling gas. I looked between the tire andthe fender on the car on the driver side and noticed that there was a wet spot on top of the plastic under cover guard. At that point i took out the back seat and opened the access panel on the driver side and it was at that point i noticed fuel leaking. I then opened the passenger side and noticed the same thing, fuel leaking.now that i know why i was smelling fuel i replaced the seals on both sides hoping that was going to fix the problem. I then went to the gas station filled up again to see if replacing the gaskets did the job. When i got home i opened both panels and noticed that i was still leaking fuel. As i looked hard at the pumps, sensor and leveler i noticed that the plastic electrical connecters that were molded to the top of the lids was no good and seeping out fuel.at that point i replaced both sides. I spent roughly around $550.00. I know it i had the dealer do it, it would have been double that. For a vehicle only being 5 years old it should not have these kind of problem with it. I am glad that i have mechanic skills to do things like this.

After filling the fuel tank, a very strong odor of raw gasoline coming from rear of car.the strongest smell coming from drivers side rear wheel well, no visible leaks detected.the smell is getting worse after each fill-up.replaced the gas cap, no change in condition.contacted the dealer from where car was purchased and inquired about similar complaints and fixes because another of my family has the same model with similar miles and has the very same problem, the dealer was unaware of any issues with this model.because the car is out of warranty, will need to find a repair facility to solve and correct this issue before something catastrophic happens.also found in research that this same issue has been found in other mercedes models of the same model year.

Balance shaft is bad mercedes wants $5833 to fix itnow they have a class action lawsuit against them for thatthey should have to pay the whole amount to fix it as i looked for recalli found the problem for mygas tankthat should have been recalled to if you fill the car up you can smell gas need help to fix this

All 4 cam shaft sensors failed at the same time.

The contact owns a 2007 mercedes benz c230. When the contact filled up the fuel tank, there was a strong fuel odor coming from the vehicle. The contact believed this was a serious safety issue since the fuel odor was unusually strong. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the issue. The vin was unknown. The contact had not experienced a failure. Updated 04/06/16*lj updated 11/06/2017

Strong fuel smell in rear of cabin

For last three plus years, whenever gas tank is filled over the 3/4 full mark there is a heavy gas odor but i have not seen leaking gas.i only put in less than 9 gallons of gas at a time fearing an explosion in my garage where water heater is located.

One weekend we woke up in the morning to go wash, and as soon as we opened our doors to the vehicle a strong odor of gasoline came out of the vehicle. Inside of the vehicle and in the trunk it smelled a lot like gasoline, it's been like this now for about 4 days and the odor is still strong. It worries me because i have kids. We've been driving around with our windows slightly down, even afraid to turn on the heater or ac

Gas fumes outside car after refueling, parked in garage

Leaking fuel filling hoses

The contact owns a 2007 mercedes benz c230. The contact stated that gasoline fuel fumes were emitted in and around the vehicle. The contact inspected the vehicle and noticed that the vehicle had a fuel leak. The vehicle was taken to the dealer. The technician diagnosed that the sending unit was cracked and as a result, the fuel tank needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and offered to cover ten percent of the repair costs. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 100,000 and the current mileage was 107,000.

The contact owns a 2007 mercedes benz c230. The contact stated that the engine rpms increased to 4,000 however, the vehicle would not accelerate over 20 mph. The failure was experienced numerous times. The vehicle was taken to the dealer several times for the failure. The dealer performed a diagnostic that was unable to locatea failure code. The vehicle was taken back the dealer and a second diagnostic was performed which located the failure at the transmission conductor plate. The dealer flushed the transmission and replaced the conductor plate. The failure was not corrected. The vehicle still would not accelerate over 20 mph. The contact coasted to the shoulder, turned the engine off and restarted the vehicle in order to gain acceleration abilities. The failure mileage was 9,392 and the current mileage was 32,000.

Before i brought my vehicle to the shop i had experienced this transmission issue several times, all resulting in my car getting stuck in a gear.if i pulled over and restarted my car, everything would work fine.i did not have a check engine light error, but i ran the code with my obdi checker, and received an error in regards to the speed sensor.after some research of this issue, it appeared to be a known issue with this type a car.i took the car into a local transmission shop and the repairs totaled $1450.please note that the local shop still had to take the car to the mercedes dealership and get the part programmed (tow to dealership $147 and programming $211.20).since this is a wide spread known issue, why is mercedes providing a reasonable remedy, thank you.

The car stays in first gear and i have to stop and pull over.put it in park and it jerks very badly going it to park.then i turn it off, and back on. Then everything goes back to normal, until it happens again.so many people have this issue and there is no recall. What are they waiting for.there is 113 complaints on this car and almost none are from the only recall they have actually issued.this happens on a red light.it happens on the high way.in reverse. I wish i never bought this car. Some people paid 1500 dollars to fix it.i thought mercedes meant high quality.at least they can admit their mistake and fix it for the people suffering before someone dies.the car has 94000 miles.my honda went to 200,000 with out issues.

My car lost acceleration while driving. This was very scary i was entering the freeway, as i was trying to enter into traffic trying to accelerate my car would not pick up speed. I had my children in the car praying not to get hit. I hope something is done before someone looses their life. This need to be a recall item a.s.a.p.

My original complaint was on 08/16/2012(number 10473170)....again, the transmission gear indicator went blank. Car went into "limp home" mode. This time removing the key and restarting did not reset themodule and i had the repair done. The repair on this was almost $2000!it was the transmission speed sensor which is part of the electrical conductor plate assembly. Prior to this incident, the dealership service rep admitted that they have many repairs with transmission control problems and encouraged me to buy an extended warranty!online there are many complaints regarding the 2006- 2007 c230's with the same problem. There is clearly a defect going on and i too would like a recall investigation through the nhtsa. Mb needs to admit this is a problem and recall all the vehicles with this defect.

I have a c230 sports sedan with 45,000 miles.the transmission had been sticking in gear, but if i turned the car off and removed the key it would reset and usually be ok for a while.now it is stuck in first gear, and nothing i have tried has done any good.it will not shift out of first gear.it has an automatic manual transmission but the manual function does not work and even trying to shift manually does no good.this is a common problem with this model and yet mb has never issued a recall.this is pretty clearly a factory defect and needs to be addressed.

Vehicle would not shift out of first gear. Rpms were at shift level, then engine shut down. Restarted and revved engine, loud wailing sound. Car was towed to mercedes benz, they said transmission pump bad as well as transmission, needs replacing.

My 2007 c230 automatic sport sedan that i purchased pre-owned and certified from an authorized mb dealer in 2009 has been experiencing problems since purchase. I have experienced extreme loss of acceleration and running at a high rpm.it first occurred a few weeks after i purchased the vehicle.i was entering a parking garage with a steep hill and as i drove up hill, the car struggled to accelerate while the rmp ran high.i feared the vehicle was about to roll backward and i quickly applied the brakes, placed the car in park with my foot still on the brake.i turned it off and restarted and was able to continue into the garage.i took the car to mb service and after they tried to say it was nothing without reviewing the vehicle, they finally agreed to do a diagnosis.i was advised they found a faulty sensor and it was repaired. Several weeks later, it happened again while in the parking lot of my residential building as i attempted to back into my parking space.the vehicle did not accelerate and the rmp ran high.turning it and restarting again remedied the problem. The third and forth time it occurred on the high way during my normal commute to and from work.the issue re-appeared in busy traffic.the vehicle would not accelerate and the rpm ran high. Each time it has occurred, i have had to pull over, turn the car off, let it sit, then when i restarted the vehicle, it was fine and i drove off without any problem. I have done some research on line and have found that there are numerous complaints regarding the 2006 2007 c230's with the same or similar problem described and it appears to be with the transmission.there is clearly a defect going on and i would like to request a recall investigation through the nhtsa. The contact owns a 2007 mercedes benz c230. The contact stated that while driving 40 mph, the vehicle failed to respond to acceleration attempts. The contact started the vehicle and attempted to accelerate but the vehicle would not engage past first gear as the check engine warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to a local mechanic, who stated that the speed sensor had to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified. The failure and current mileage was 82,000. The vin was not available.

The car is going into limp mode when you stop and than go.you pull over and turn the car off it resets the computer and it works fine for couple of days.the issue been going on for over a year now.

My car went into limp mode going down the street, had to have her towed to starmotors, the code came up as internal speed sensor and transmission control module, it is known to mbusa about this problem and they need to fix it and not cost out of my pocket

The 2007 mercedes benz c230 with 68,000 miles has after coming to a stop - i would place foot on accelerator and the vehiclenot shift out of low gear. It would barely move. On other occasions the vehicle would not go and the vehicle rpm's would rev beyond normal rpm's. This could happen also at this could happen also at any speedi was entering the freeway, as i was trying to enter into traffic trying to accelerate my car would not pick up speed, and the car lost acceleration on a major highway while driving at a speed of 65 mph. I had to pull over to the shoulder and shut off the engine for a few minutes. Only after restarting the engine, the acceleration improved. I have experienced this issue three times now and am concerned about me and my family's safety, why has mercedes benz not initiated a recall. I hope the company is not waiting for a disaster to happen. I would appreciate if nhtsa could please investigate the issue.

My vehicle became stuck on one gear as i entered the freeway. I had my kids with me and i had to pull over the shoulder. After turning it off and on again, it reset itself. This has happened 4 times now. Now its happening on stop lights as i try to accelerate, it feels its dragging and cars behind me are honking at me to move out of the way. It is unsafe and i cant afford to fix it or buy another one.i researched and found much more people are having this problem. Why has no one done anything about this issue? my wife drives this car and i am not sure if she will respond in the same fashion as i did when presented with this dangerous event if it occurs. I wanted someone with some clout to know about this just in case a disaster occurs i know who to go after. Please make mercedes benz responsible and fix this free of charge. This is my only car and it was not cheap and now to pay for a problem i am sure they know is a problem....its ridiculous. Please help before someone gets hurt. Just look up 2007 mercedes benz c230 stuck on gear and you will see how big this issue is. I bought the car in january 2016.

On several occasions i have experienced my vehicle going into limp mode due to the same transmission problem that everyone else seems to be having. It has happened when pulling away from an intersection, trying to overtake a slower vehicle, trying to get up to speed entering the interstate, but nothing particular seems to trigger it. Fortunately, i have always been able to pull the vehicle to the side of the road, shift to park, and shut the vehicle off and restart it, which would fix the problem. Until now. After the last time it happened, the vehicle will not reset. It is stuck in what appears to be second gear. I can't believe that mercedes benz has not been forced to recall the vehicles equipped with the 722.9 transmission. I have researched this on the internet and it appears to be a problem world wide. It has caused accidents resulting in injury and death and it is clearly a safety issue. The problem is caused by a defective transmission control module which is located inside the transmission, on top of the valve body. Mercedes refuses to sell the part to anyone other than mercedes repair shops. My car only has 85,000 miles on it, i bought it used 6 months ago.

I have periodically had this problem. From a stop, the car will not accelerate. It feels like it is stuck in a higher gear. Or, the opposite happens. I will accelerate, and the car will not change from second to third gear. I have to pull over and restart the engine, and then it works. I have seen numerous complaints online from other owners that they have the same problem. I took it to mb and paid 1450.34 to get the electric hydro control unit in my transmission replaced.

Major problems drive train senors air bags

Ever since i have purchased my mercedes benz c230- 2007 model, i have been regularly maintaining it as per mercedes recommended maintenance instructions. Recently i experienced an unexpected transmission issue in my car.the car lost acceleration on a major highway while driving at a speed of 65 mph.i had to pull over to the shoulder and shut off the engine for a few minutes.only after restarting the engine, the acceleration improved.i have experiencedthis issue three times now and am concerned about me and my family's safety.i have researched online on nhtsa.dot.gov,benzworld.org and a few other blog sites where numerous mercedes c230 owners have experienced exactly the same issue. My question is that if this is a known safety related issue and has been reported to mercedes benz usa, llc. Several times, why has mercedes benz not initiated a recall.i hope the company is not waiting for a disaster to happen.i would appreciate if nhtsa could please investigate the issue.

It occurred on the freeway in stop-and-go traffic. The vehicle would not accelerate and the rpm ran high. The transmission gear indicator went blank. I had to pull over, turn the car off, let it sit, then when i restarted the vehicle, it was normal again. I had only 38,400 miles on the vehicle at the time of the failure! online there are many complaints regarding the 2006 2007 c230's with the same problem. An independent repair shop said it is perhaps the transmission speed sensor which is part of the electrical conductor plate assembly. When talking to the dealership about my vehicles camshaft sensor failure repair and possible balance shaft issues, 7 months prior to this incident, the service rep admitted that they have many repairs with transmission control problems and encouraged me to buy an extended warranty!here is a quote from an independent repair shop: "these units are failing so often that the dealer has restricted selling them even in their own shop. To order a part, the dealer must submit a request with computer scans and control unit log reports of the suspected failed vehicle's electronics. The factory then sends the parts they deem necessary for the repair (conductor plate assembly, or complete valve body)."there is clearly a defect going on and i too would like a recall investigation through the nhtsa. The repair on this is thousands of dollars!

Car seems to stay in one gear and does not downshift or upshift when needed. The only solution is to stop car, turn off and restart. It is a risk to enter a main road because of not knowing what gear the auto trans is locked or if it will shift to another gear to get up to speed. Dealer checked car once and said they could not find anything wrong but it seems it is a known issue the transmission problem for these model year.

I was driving on the freeway and noticed that my car would not accelerate and rev high in rpm. I have to pull over on the shoulder of the freeway since i am losing control of the car. I was about to call the tow service but i recover after i restarted the engine. At the dealership, the dealer has determined to a sensor on the transmission but said since my warranty expired, i have to pay $1300 to get the sensor replaced. This is terrible since my car has only 45000 miles on it. In addition, this is a common issue based on the forum discussion and mercedes should have a recall on this issue. This is a terrible customer experience and i don't know how i can trust them.

Transmission went out at 100,ooo miles car went out without warning going at a rate of 40 miles per houron a buisy highway motorist stranded with a walking disability, esp light came on when trying to put car in drive would not had to be towed now at mercedes dealership north palm beach , dealer ship advised would cost 12,ooo.oo to repair recall was too late to file deadline 2-15-16.

At 115,000 miles the vehicle started experiencing issues shifting from park to reverse or drive. Once in reverse or drive, it won't shift back into park. The car must be turned off in neutral position or wait up to 5 minutes before shifting back into park. Once engaged in reverse or drive there is no problem with the transmission's operation.

The contact owns a 2007 mercedes c230. The contact stated that while exiting the highway, the vehicle engaged from park to neutral independently and decelerated. The contact stated that the vehicle had to be turned off in order to correct the problem. The contact took the vehicle to a mechanic and was told that the failure could have been a problem with the transmission internal speed sensor or the shaft balancer. The failure mileage was 71,321 butupdated 9/10/12

The contact owns a 2007 mercedes c230. The contact stated that while driving 40 mph with the vehicle in second gear, the check engine warning light illuminated and the vehicle stalled. The failure recurred on multiple occasions. The vehicle was not taken to a dealer or a mechanic for diagnostic testing or repairs. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 52,000.

The contact owns a 2007 mercedes benz c230. The contact stated that while at a traffic stop, there was an increase in engines rpms as the vehicle failed to accelerate. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, who diagnosed that the transmission speed sensor was defective and needed to be reset. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The vin was not available. The failure mileage was 67,000 and the current mileage was 74,000.

Transmission will not shift, goes into limp mode.turn the car off, wait a couple minutes, restart the car and it drives fine.this first happened may 2015 with 66,000 miles.our mechanic told us this is a very common mercedes transmission failure.we choose to replace the fluid, and it did seem to help.now we have 79,500 miles and it goes into limp mode once a week.the fluid was supposed to last 100,000 miles.our mechanic said the fluid we changed was clean.this is a very dangerous situation, a known mercedes defect with the transmission electronics.the next step if we decide to keep the car is to replace the transmission conductor plate.never again will i buy a mercedes.this car has been babied by my wife, and has less than 100,000 in 9 years.any japanese automobile would have easily provided double the life before failure.this is totally unacceptable to be facing thousands of dollars in repairs to a car with on 79,500 miles.

As many have found, during highway driving at stop and go, car occasionally loses acceleration and runs at high rpm.only after emergency pulling to safety and shutting off the car does it reset.this is a dangerous defect in the power train/speed sensor in this model and needs to be recalled.

The mercedes benz c230 with 69,000 miles has after coming to a stop - i would place foot on accelerator and the vehicle would barely get moving would move slowly and would not shift out of low gear.it would barely move.on other occasions the vehicle would not go and the vehicle rpm's would rev beyond normal rpm's.this could happen also at any speed.i feel that this is a dangerous condition and the following parts have been defective and mercedes is controlling the use of these parts because they know that they have an unsafe design and can prove to be hazardous to drivers..i went to have the vehicle repaired at a local very reputable third party dealer and mercedes benz would not sell the necessary repair parts to any non mercedes dealer.it is my opinion based on readingabout this particular vehicle that the transmission speed sensors have a faulty design as well as the transmission valve body and the hydraulic control unit.i would suggest that this be investigated by the highway safety board and provide for a recall of these items and notify all owners of vehicles.mercedes benz is aware that they build a unreliable and unsafe power train for this vehicle.

The contact owns a 2007 mercedes benz c230. The contact stated that while driving at 45 mph, the vehicle starting jerking as if it were to stall. In addition, the contact stated that the transmission seemed as if the vehicle was in neutral. The vehicle was shut off and restarted. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where it was diagnosed that the conductor plate needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 41,000.

While driving wouldn't accelerate rpm's went up but no acceleration i was finally able to pull over and tried to accelerate got high rpm's but barely moved. Placed in park shifted very hard shifted back to drive shifted hard again. Same thing happened got high rpm's very little movement. Turned car off then started back up everything was ok. Has happened quite a few times can be hot, cold, driving around a lot or just started up.

I have been driving and on multiple occasions i have had the car unable to shift out of gear, each time i had to turn the car off and restart . Today after attempting to try this again today dec.17, 2013 i finally had to car a tow truck because the car would not shift gears.

Takata airbag replacing due to recall and transverse case is defective was told by mercedes benz of north palm beach fla that it would cost over 12,ooo.oo to get car fixed at 40 miles per hour car failed without warning verify info with rob at mercedes dealership 561-203-8958 was told by better business breau to try and contact you all first , im sad because of me being unable to afford this car repair bill due to no fault of my own

The car stays in first gear and i have to stop and pull over. Put it in park and it jerks very badly going into park. Then i pull off the road, stop, turn it off and back on. Then everything goes back to normal, until it happens again. I read on-line of many people having this same issue and there is no recall. Imo this is a safety issue and i do not feel comfortable with loved ones in this car.my dealership is reapiring the transmission as i write for $1400+.i thought mercedes meant high quality/reliability. At least they can admit their mistake and fix it for the people suffering before someone dies. My car only has 63,000 miles and has been serviced by the dealership iaw service manual.

I was stopped at a red light and when i accelerated the car didn't change from 2nd to 3rd gear and the tachometer was reading very high since i was trying to accelerate.since the car wouldn't excel i pulled over and turned off the engine.when i turned it on again it was okay.i took the car to the mercedes dealership 1/8/13 but they couldn't find a problem.this has happened a total of 4 times since 1/7/13 and each time i have to pull overand turn off the engine to reset it.additionally, i have had a problem with the car lurching (jumping)when putting it into driveor reverse and when accelerating after this the car doesn't change from 1st to 2nd gear.also, i have had 2 incidents where the car has not accelerated to the appropriate gear (higher gear) on a highway ramp and i have had to pull over and turn the engine off to reset it.sometimes when i pull over and turn the car off i have to do this again as it doesn't correct the problem the 1st timein my opinion this is a safety issue, but not only that it is very annoying and every time i get into the car i wonder whether it is going to happen again.

The contact owns a 2007 mercedes-benz c230. When slowing down the vehicle by applying pressure to the brake pedal, the vehicle jerked and hesitated to stop. There were no warning indicators illuminated. The failure recurred several times when the vehicle was coming to a stop. In addition, the contact stated that the transmission lost power and was unable to shift into gear. The vehicle was not taken to a dealer. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 120,000.

My transmission became stuck in a high gear and would not accelerate. Could not manually change gears and the only way to remedy this issue was to park and turn off the car. I had to use my hazard flashers and drive in traffic for a few miles until i could get over to the shoulder of the road. This is very dangerous and troublesome to me. It appears to be a common issue on this site as well, please look into this.

2007 mercedes c230 with 65661 miles began to lose power and not shift into gear. Towed to a mercedes dealer where they said it was a mass air sensor and 1000.00 bill. Within a few weeks same problem, loss of power and unable to shift. Now they replaced the conductor plate in the transmission-1300.00 bill. This seems to be a verycommon problem in this specific year make model for mercedes not to handle.

The transmission slips form takeoff allowing the engine to rev without engaging.i am concerned that a vehicle with such low mileage would exhibit such issues.after reading about the numerous complaints and mercedes response to customers, one would conclude that this is caused by a faulty design.case in point, mercedes will not allow the faulty part to be rebuilt.they require that the part is replaced with a "new" part from the factory.again, one is only left to conclude that they are covering up the failure by not allowing the part to be rebuilt in the field.surely, if it were a maintenance issue they would have rebuild kits available.however, their solution is to bury the expense and hide the problem leaving customers to bear the entire burden of repairing a faulty design.i find this to be in parallel with the "ford pinto gas tank."

While driving, my car would not shift to the next gear.i pulled over and shifted into park.the car jerked hard.then i put the car in drive and it jerked hard again.i pulled away and the car had low power and then would not shift passed second gear.i pulled over again and shifted the car to park, turned off the engine, turned it back on and shifted to drive and it worked fine.it's now done this about 15 times while driving at different speeds.

On at least five occasions, the vehicle has been unable to advance out of first gear or exceed 25 mph despite depressing the accelerator.this has presented a safety issue for ithas occurred intermittently and might as one is entering a highway or expressway with vehicles rapidly approaching from behind.

The contact owns a 2007 mercedes-benz c230. The contact stated that the vehicle was taken to the dealer to be repaired for a seat belt recall. The vehicle was repaired; however, the seat belt failed to lock. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 96,388.

The contact owns a 2007 mercedes benz c230. The contact stated that while driving at 40 mph, the seat warmer was activated and there was smoke coming from the seat. The contact noticed that the seat had caught fire. The fire extinguished itself. The contact sustained right hip injuries that did not require medical attention. A police report was not filed. The vehicle was taken to a dealer. The technician diagnosed that the heating element needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 95,000.

The contact owns a 2007 mercedes-benz c230. The contact stated that the passenger side seat warmer was progressively becoming hotter than expected. The last time the seat warmer was being used it burned a hole through the leather material on the seat and burned the passenger's, the contact's wife, leg. Medical attention was not needed. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 100,000.

Car being driven by my 24-year old son with completely clean drivers record near his butler university he attends on main road 38th street, indianapolis a flat stretch, at 3:00 pm at speed limit of 45 mph and 1.5 blocks ahead noticing red light went to brake to slow down and the brakes completely failed, failing to stop car, which went through the red light and into the intersection into the traffic. He was able to dodge around the first car that would have t-boned him and sandwiched him against another but collided with a truck. Very thankful his injuries were not fatal or permanent and he remained calm and handled the car in best possible way. No red light alert on instrument panel as to anything being wrong and this car meticulously maintained at mercedes dealership. Witnesses said also saw smoke coming from brakes. No brake function at all. Brakes perfectly normal beforehand in previous driving and in traveling from his student house that day.

Thanks.

Came to my car one day after it sat for maybe an hr at my mechanics house the doorsunlocked with remote, went to srart car and it did not a make unlock vibrating sound after that realized it was not working, spent 400 dollars each on two different keys both of those did not work, techs had issue orogramming key

Took car to dealership for recall service on driver airbag module, after driving away once job was finishednoticed i was unable to turn steering wheel and the steering wanted to lock while driving.srs light remained on. Smoke came out from under the hood and car was not overhearing, i called dealership and service advisor was gone and was not offered any additional help. I drove car slowly to my home and parked it on the street because i was unable to drive to the driveway. I opened hood and smoke was coming from power steering reservoir and also leaking fluid.i did not have any issues driving my vehicle prior to this recall service. I was put endanger along with my 2 kids and now having to fix other costly repairs and have no additional vehicle to drive. Flie size of picture exceeds upload limits.

During a normal morning drive on a side street (non residental) i had slowed the car with my two passenger tires in the dirt and driver tires on the road to about 5 to 10 mph before pulling back on to the road and accelerated back up to 45 mph as posted. While doing so my esp shut off so how and i ended up fish tailing over a curb through a fence and on to a golf course in which there was external damage to my steering body side panels exterior lighting side mirror tires and lower control arms. Resulting in over 8k in repairs.

I was driving down highway 50 in sacramento, california, in a 2007 c230 mercedes benz, when i ran over an object.the right rear tire immediately went flat.i drove to a tire facility and had the tire exchanged for the spare.the tire facility suggested i take the car to mercedes benz.on the way to mercedes benz i stopped at an automobile repair shop and had the tire and rim inspected.the middle of the rim was cracked and ruptured.the shop owner stated he had been in the auto repair business for 30 years and had never seen a rim failure of that type.i took the vehicle to mercedes benz sacramento and the serviceman told me tires and rims were not covered under warranty.he did not even bother to take the tire out of the trunk.i said i wished to speak to the service manager.he informed me the service manager wasn't in.i said i would make an appointment to see the service manager - that i had concerns about the rim failure.when i met with the service manager, i voiced my concerns regarding the rim.the service manager called me later in the afternoon and stated the damage would be at my cost and wasn't covered under warranty.i inquired why this wasn't covered under warranty because i was only 4 months into the lease of this new car.the answer was tires and rims are not covered under warranty under any circumstance's left a voice mail messagefor general manager of mercedes benz sacramento to call me regarding this rim failure and my concerns.he called me back and defended the service technician and service manager's decisions to give the stock answer it was not covered under warranty.i pointed out to the general managerthat my concern was the rim had ruptured and cracked and that this was a new vehicle.i felt my concerns were being ignored by the service department.mr. Crowley did not seem to be of the same opinion. The tire and rimwere being replaced at a facility other than mercedes benz.

I was driving my 2007 mercedes benz c230 at 30mph and it just stopped running it would not move forward or backwards but the rpm would go up. I notice 2 weeks before when i wanted accelerate it wouldn't go any faster then 30mph and after a few seconds it would speed. My concern is that there was not any indication that anything was wrong until the last incident where it just stopped. I had a few people checked and they believe it is the transmission. I went online to check and see if anyone else had experienced the same problems and it is unbelievable that there hasn't been a recall yet. Mercedes benz suppose to be held responsible for it's manufactured mistakes.

Takata recall!

Problem shifting gear. Only 47k miles. Stuck in the freeway only acceleration of 30 mph. Dealership diagnosis conductor plate $1800-2800 repair. Vin not available.

Vehicle lost speed on highway. Engine racing but no speed. Pulled over to call for help. No reverse. Had car towed to dealership. Required replacement of transmission electronic control unit. Cost was $1,352.83. Dealer told me it is a common problem. This sounds like a systemic problem with this part and can cause injury or death in certain driving conditions. ...updated 09/28/15 updated 3/29/2016

I was driving my car around 30mph coming to a slow down to make a right hand turn. Made turn and proceeded up a steep hill and my car simply stop pulling/accelerating. This has happened several times. I went out of town to tx for christmas and had the same thing happen. I can't understand why so many complaints and no one has yet to even investigate the problem. The maintenance on these vehicles is expensive. On top of the mb is familiar with this issue and should not be putting this expense off on the owners due to faulty default product that can not even be rebuilt but requires replacing the faulty part with another faulty part.something needs to be done about this.

My car went into limp mode going down the street, had to have her towed to starmotors, the code came up as internal speed sensor and transmission control module, it is known to mbusa about this problem and they need to fix it and not cost out of my pocket

I purchased my 2007 mercedes c230 in approximately february 2011 from carmax in roseville, ca.within six weeks, i was driving on a local freeway when i experienced a loss of acceleration power yet the engine was running a over 4000 rpm.i returned to the carmax dealership to report the engine problem, but the dealership could not recreate the problem, which repeated itself intermittently in the following months.in december 2011, i took the car to a local mercedes specialist for a service b; upon examination, the specialist advised me that the car had not received a 60,000 mile service b, including a transmission service, and asked if the car had exhibited the power loss and high rpm.the specialist informed me that a mercedes service bulletin advised of an incompatibility between the metal material of the transmission and the original factory fluid, which causes a shearing problem and build up on thetransmission shifting sensors. The specialist recommended and performed a service of flushing & replacement of the transmission fluid with a newly formulated, mercedes recommended fluid. Immediately following the service and fluid replacement, there were fewer incidents of power loss. In recent weeks, six months after the transmission service, the issue of power loss has re-occurred frequently, multiple times per week, multiple times per day, many times on the freeway at speeds of 55-65 mph, requiring me to pull to the shoulder of the freeway to turn off the car an allow to reset before re-entering the flow of traffic.this loss of power and transmission control while driving at freeway speed is a great safety concern to me.

While driving my car on sunday (8 june 2014), my 2007 mercedes benz c230 lost acceleration and the car wouldn't get out of first gear and the rpm's were running high. I had to pull over and turn the car off hoping to reset the car to that i could get back home. Once i turned off the car and set for a few minutes it then worked with no problem. This isn't the first time thig has happen to the car.

Combination problem the wipers are not commonly available outside of the dealer. They have a fitter that is not compatible with the usual supply of replacements. There are no dealers in the columbia gorge. A daughter had one of her wipers ice up and fall off while traversing the columbia gorge one snowy eve. She replaced it at a roadsideservice station. This would not be possible if it had happened with this mercedes. Having a bad wiper blade is a real safety issue with me.

Windshield wiper reservoir and connections are prone to leaks due design defect obstructing drivers view of the road/ability to drive vehicle safely because of inability to clean dirty windshield.
