2006 mercedes benz c230 68k miles.error message states "srs restraint system malfunction. Drive to workshop".i am told that my entire supplemental restraint system has been deactivated until this is resolved.repair costs around $700 to fix and i do not have an extra $700 laying around right now.from reading online, this is an extremely common/widespread problem with mercedes and should lead to a recall as people's lives are at stake when driving a vehicle without working airbags or pre-tensioners.
Takata recall. Dealer says they do not have replacement parts. I've been waiting for them to get replacement parts for nearly a year now.

I have received a traffic violation ticket on 12/28/2018 after several pulled over from the same police department officers as they do not believe that i indeed have replaced the bulbs aforementioned ( i have attached the receipt for that violation ).the issue that worries me the most is the honk failure and the driver passenger airbag recall, those are a very sensitive safety matter and i please want to get help to get this fix.i have already contact 2 mercedes benz dealerships here in california( downtown la motors & rusnak mercedes benz of arcadia, ca ).... At this time i haven't received any reply to my calls and emails, and i am really worry about it because this is the only vehicle i have and drive to commute to work and to pleasure on weekends when i take with me my 10 years old son, and that is the part that worries me the most, i do not want to risk my son in an event of a frontal crash with the airbags failure, that can cause the airbag to explode with shatter debris that can seriously injure my son and myself and even cause death...please help me to get this repairs done.parts of this document have been redacted to protect personally identifiable information pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(

Takata airbag recall - i contacted the mercedes benz dealership where i purchased my vehicle and told them i did not feel safe driving my vehicle. They immediately forwarded my call to a hotline for mercedes benz usa, and i was told that my car is safe to drive and that mercedes will not offer me a rental car to drive while i wait for replacement parts. They went as far as to send me a letter explicitly saying that they believe "there is no reason for you to stop driving your vehicle." there is no estimated timeline for the replacement parts. There wouldn't be a recall if there wasn't a safety risk and mercedes benz isn't doing anything to ease customers' fears or ensure our safety. I live about a mile from the beach and it is humid. Not only do i not feel safe, the resale value of my car is likely impacted if i wanted to purchase a new, safer vehicle. Mercedes benz should be mandated to offer rental cars while we wait for our replacement airbags. It's not "precautionary" to issue a recall and then wait months (or potentially years) to fix the problem.

Takata recall-mercedes benz has failed to replace the driver's side air bag in my car.recall was announced in april 2016-over a year ago.i live in ca, which is listed as a priority part of the country for having recall completed.
I was told to file here if there was no remedy on the safety recall and there wasn't. There was a safety recall in february 2016 for my takata airbag and to this date, there is no available remedy.this is a huge safety concern. I just checked online and status is same no remedy -incomplete.
Takata recall i was rear ended and headrest airbags deployed.

Takata recall. The contact owned a 2006 mercedes-benz c230. While driving 40 mph, the vehicle was involved in a side impact collision with a firetruck. The air bags deployed. There were three injuries that required medical attention. A police report was filed. The vehicle was towed to a salvage yard where it was deemed destroyed. The srs light is on steady for about a month now. I get a message on the display "check passenger airbag" and the passenger airbag "on/off" switch is in the off position, which i cannot change. When i look up the vin i get no answer for my make and model.i really think my car should be included on this recall.

The airbags were recalled a year ago and mercedes keeps saying they dont have parts to fix. Unsafe to drive. I think they should be trying harder to fix.
"takata recall" - no remedy on faulty airbags and received notice that company has filed chapter 11. First notified in 2016, but manufacturer haven't resolved. I'm not sure what the safety impact would be in the event of an accident. No accident has occurred to date.
Takata recall - dealer does not have the parts and can not repair.this is unacceptable!
Takata recall - went on www.airbagrecall.com saw a list of dealerships to contact. Called stevens creek benz and repair person told me to ignore any of the tk holding's postcards and any other postcards relating to the airbag recall and wait for mercedes to contact me.
I bought the c230 at one year old. I had e perienced two times thatwhile freeway driving all power would be lost. Pulled over and put in park, rev engine a bit but rpm's would not move. Fast forward to december 2008 i sold car go my mom because i had a baby and car was too small. My mom since having car has lost power while freeway driving a total of six times now. Very dangerous as there is no "code" or "error" for mechanic when diagnosing, nor is benz ackowleding ghe issue.
I've had this problem several times where i put in the car key to start the car, yes it starts up but the gas gauge ,speedometer, and the rest on the dash go to all the way down and don't move, then my check engine light turns on. Sometimes the car doesn't start as well . I've gone to the dealership to buy a new key thinking it was the key but still the same problem. I saw that most of the c class has been recalled for the same issues i'm having but they didn't recall the c230. I believe you guys should do better investigation next time because i don't think i should have to pay to repair something that came defective. Also i've noticed that the 2006 c class also has a recall for the airbag which i've has the esn or esp letters popping up on ny dashboard stating something about the airbag yet my vehicle isn't eligible for that recall as well and i ask myself why? if they same problems i'm having are exactly the same i'm having with the recalledvehicle.

The contact owns a 2006 mercedes benz c230. The contact stated that he attempted to use the remote keyfob which failed to operate as designed. The vehicle was taken to fletcher jones motorcars of fremont (5760 cushing parkway, fremont, ca 94538, (510) 623-1111) and the contact was informed that there was no electrical reception between the antennae located in the roof of the vehicle and the keyfob. The contact stated that the keyfob worked when placed close to the driver's side door lock. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not contacted. The failure mileage was 146,000.
Having problem with the gear shifting, believe this is caused by the shaft balancer, etc. The car grabs and jerks from time to time making me unsure of the safety of my car. My car only has 84,000 miles on it. The car is like new, but as i read the class act against mercedes i noticed that my car has several of the same issues as others listed in the complaint. The interior and exterior of my car is in excellent condition, and i can't believe that the mercedes company would allow an error like this to continue. I would like for this to be corrected by mercedes or to be placed on the class act suit as well.
The contact owns a 2006 mercedes-benz c230. When the vehicle was started, the check engine warning indicator illuminated and 'cam shaft balance calibration, sensor one and sensor b' appeared. The contact stated that the failure occurred for approximately two months. The vehicle was taken to garage isla verde (avenida baldorioty de castro, kl 10.3, carolina, pr 00979) where it was determined that the balance camshaft needed replacement. The contact owned two other mercedes benz c230s, which also experienced the same failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 131,000.
The check engine light came on my c230 2006 mercedes-benz therefore i'd taken the vehicle to the repair shop. The mb mechanic stated i have a bad balance shaft that needs to be replace. The mb repair shop quoted me over $6000 to repair a defective balance shaft. The engine will not start with this defective part, and/or the car will stop because of the failed part while driving.
Engine light comes on.there is a manufacturing issue with the intake manifold.the plastic actuating rods broke causing the internal flappers to stick out.this can suck into the engine and cause major damage to valves and engine head.mercedes benz should not have used plastic rods that break.mercedes should replace the intake manifold as no cost to the customer.
Attempting to speed up from stop to 45 mph and rpms rose above 5000 to 6000 and car would not speed up past 35 mph.i tried flooring the accelerator but nothing happened.no response at all past 35 mph.i pulled over and turned off the car for 5 minutes.then i started the car again and the acceleration performed as it should.
The contacts owns a 2006 mercedes c230. The contact stated while driving 20 mph, the vehicle started to shake violently. Also, the contact mentioned that smoke started to emit from the engine compartment and from underneath the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to the dealer. The technician diagnosed that the valve body was defective. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 78,000 and the current mileage was 86,000.
"attempting to speed up from stop to 45 mph and rpms rose above 5000 to 6000 and car would not speed up past 35 mph. I tried flooring the accelerator but nothing happened. No response at all past 35 mph". My car does not accelerate as it should. I went to a auto shop and they said i have an intake manifold problem.
My fan on ,ycar went out without warning and had to be replaced at 70,000 miles my air went out...i drove approx 5 miles to the store and was on my way back home wheni noticed my air was not working. A mesage came on to take to the shop.
Sometimes, engines yellow light is on, and car had a little shaking, and lakes are soft when braking,. And the car window aside of front guest stops moving up and down.
I was driving home and noticed that when i would accelerate after coming to a stop the car was extremely slugglish. I would have to almost floor the gas pedal in order for the car to begin moving. I pulled over and then put the car in neuttral. The jerked violently and shifted very hard as i then tried to put it in reverse and the into park. I tried to put the car back into drive and it would not accelerate at all. I had to turn the car off and then back on again in order to get it moving. The gears continued to shift violently. However, when i finally got moving again, the car would not go over 35 mph. The car was inspected and an error code for the internal speed sensor came up, which is part of the valve body for the transmission. My car only has 59,000 miles on it. Mercedes is very aware of this problem on 2006-2007 c230 models! in fact, they are having a dispute with the manufacturer of the valve body because it is poor quality and defective. I have seen numerous other complaints related to this issue. My local mercedes dealership quoted me $2,400 to repair this defective part. I was lucky in that i was not driving at 60 mph on the highway when this malfunction occurred. This is an extremely dangerous issue and a recall should be issued for this part.
My car engine light came on in june of 2014. I took it to an independent repair company. They explained at that time that i may be dealing with a balance shaft issue. As the months progress, my engine light would come on and go offintermittently. The engine light eventually would not go off. I took it back to the repair shop and they confirm that it was a balance shaft issue and that it was a manufacturers problem. I called and emailed mercedes benz for assistance since it was not negligent on my part that this issue occurred. After making several phones and e-mailing the ceo, they told me that i would have to get it checked by a mercedes benz dealer to confirm the issue. I made the appointment with the mercedes benz dealer in december 2014 and they confirmed that it was a balance shaft issue and that it would cost around $5,000 to repair. I called mercedes benz back to request assistance and they explained that since the car had no recalls and that it was not a new car, they would pay 10% of the repair cost. I explained that i did not have the money to pay for the repairs and that i should not have to pay for the repairs since it is a manufacturers problem. To date , i am without a car to drive because i do not have the money to pay for the repairs. Any assistance that you can give in this matter is greatly appreciated.
My first incidence was driving and the steering would all of a sudden get stiff like it needed power steering fluid or something.check it wasn't the fluid (this happened a few month ago i thought hmmm probably just something freaky)then 1/8/16 riding down the busy interstate highway the car acceleration just left. I pressed the accelerator to the floor but no speed. It was extremely scary. I had the car checked out...it's the classic problem i never heard of until today. ( intake manifold tumble flap) some plastic junk on an expensive car. If i wanted a junk car i would've went to the"junk yard" paid like 250. And be done with it. I'm very disappointed and angry. I'm glad my kids wasn't in the car and it wasn't a horrific outcome. Now i can't do anything with the car right now because it's expensive to repair for such a cheap piece that shouldn't have never been on it and because #1 i'm on a fixed income #2 i still have to pay for it. But what does mb care about that....its just a product to them, a money maker.
Engine diagnosis warning lamp light up, fault codes 1200 and 1208 stored in motor electronics control unit.cause: balance shaft sprocket (engine m272) worn sprocket damage profile. Engine check lights came on and b-service light while driving on highway.. Engine- m272.
Engine light went on when rpm reached 2,000 and has stayed on ever since. Diagnostics made at a professional mechanics indicated a balance shaft problem. The car has 68,400 miles.
My check engine light is on.i had it looked at by my mechanic. He confirmed that it is the balance shaft. This needs to be replaced. I researched this problem and found many mercedes 230 models have this manufacturer's problem because the piece was cheaply made. This is a problem with your mercedes c230 2006 and 2007 models.in 2008 c230 model this was replaced with a quality balance shaft piece which eliminated the problem. I would like for mercedes corporation to pay for the full cost of my repair because it is a manufactured faulty piece used in the 2006 and 2007c230 models. Please let me know details to get this paid for. Thank you!!

The contact owns a 2006 mercedes-benz c230wz. While driving 50 mph, the vehicle shut off without warning. The vehicle was towed home. The dealer was not made aware of the failure. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified. The failure mileage was 110,000.
My check engine light came on so i went to mechanic to check.they performed a computer code test to find problem.the code indicates that the balance shaft is starting to fail.i researched on-line and discovered this is a known defect within this engine.apparently mercedes is unwilling to assume responsibility for this defect.repairing this problem is extremely costly and the buyer shouldn't bare responsibility for their faulty parts.i understand there is a class action lawsuit filed, but i can't find out the current status of it.this defect can cause immediate engine failure when driving causing the auto to stop in traffic.being that thousands of mercedes vehicles have this defect i don't understand why the ntsb isn't stepping in.
Took our daughter's 2006, c230 mercedes benz to our mercedes certified mechanic to repair a sluggish problem that caused the check engine light to come on.. I was informed that a part in the engine called the balancer was going bad... The cost is an approx $5000.00. And that we would have to take it to the local mercedes dealership to do the repair. The part installed in the 2006 and 2007 models was made of a too soft a metal, so its a defective part to start with!this part apparently causes the engine to lose power while driving... Benz has not issued a recall on this part.
On june 9, 2011 i drove to sacramento, california to visit my cousin when i got there i went to lock my doors but the lock kept jumping up and down. It finally locked after 12 attempts. I took it to the dealer and they quoted me a price of $3500.00 to replace the regulator. The second incident occurred on july 18, 2011 with my brakes.the break warning light came on. I took it to the dealer and $795.00 they claimed i needed for both brakes and rotors which i could not understand since 6 months prior the rotors had been replaced. I again had to have the rotors and breaks replaced in july 2012 as well as the back breaks but this time i took it to another place other than the dealer and here it is 2014 and they are still holding and the cost was $495.00 for both front and back as well 4 new michelin tires the dealer wanted to charge me $495.00 for the back alone. The third incident occurred in las vegas i was in heavy traffic and the car shut off. It started back right away but i had a ten hour drive to make it home and this worried me. The fourth incident was with the sunroof i went to the car wash and the wax that was used caused the sunroof to stick after it dried and later the motor went out because of multiple attempts to open the roof, the dealer quoted me a price of $5000.00 to repair it. Last but not least the srs light came on, i took it to the dealer and i was told that the drivers seatbelt and back seatbelt on drivers side were defective and if i had an accident the air bags might not deploy and the seatbelts might not hold, this will cost me $700.00 to have fixed. I don't have a money tree growing in my yard. Also my rear taillight kept going out and what we found was that the entire casing had caught on fire and burned. The entire unit had to be replaced. I have paid more in repairs on this cars than i paid in groceries over the pass five years.
Zero issues with this car until now. This week, june 2013, the car has 78,000 miles on it.i pulled up to a stoplight off the freeway, and the car started sputtering like never before. The check engine light came on - for the first time ever.the car stalled and engine died. It restarted, but when i pressed the gas there was no power, traffic was coming up the off ramp fast, i had to flash my brakes to get them to notice something was wrong but it was a close call. The car sputtered into the middle of a busy freeway overpass intersection with my family on board and eager traffic behind me. It was a very scary moment because the car went from completely reliable and trustworthy to complete loss of power and instability. I sputtered back home, creating the same dangerous conditions at every intersection.i took the car to a mercedes benz shop the next morning.after a lot of testing it was determined that the intake manifold needed to be pulled to look deeper into the engine.hours later they found that the problem was caused by a defective plastic bushing of the intake manifold which broke and was sucked into cylinder #4 and #3.this caused the valves to bend and compromised the integrity of the cylinders and valves, according to the mercedes qualified technician. There is extensive damage to the valves, and they don't know what all they're going to find once they pull the headers off.the cost to repair the car is $4,400, but it may even be higher.the cylinders have to be sent to a machine shop to see if they have any other issues as a result. Who knows what they'll find.the mechanics stated that mercedes benz is aware of this problem, that those moving plastic parts in the intake manifold are known to crack and cause problems and should never have been madeout of plastic, but i don't see recalls on this obvious engineering & manufacturing defect.
Takata recall" 2006 mercedes benz c230 i was driving home and my car started misfiring really bad, the check engine light came on and started flickering and stayed onand the lights in the car on the dash and on the radio started to flicker on and off and then the car just was limp it wouldn't even pick up speed it was slowing down on the freeway with very busy traffic .i was scared for my life and my friend that we were going to come to a completestop in rush hour traffic . I tried to hurry home but it was would not pick up speedit keep going slower and slower and when we had to slow down or stop due to traffic it actually turned completely off twice and i was so scared that an acceident would happen it was misfiring and just a terrible experience this should be some kind of recall or something they need to look into it abc fix it before someone gets hurt or worse .
Took the vehicle to the dealer when the check engine light came on.car was diagnosed with a bad balance shaft that needed to be replaced.apparently this has been a problem with this engine on numerous models of mercedes as class action lawsuits have been filed in numerous states.
After having the check engine light come on, we took the car to the dealership we purchased it from to perform a diagnostic after receiving codes p0170 and p0173 (mb codes 2092/2096) which mb classifies as "mixture in right / left cylinder bank is too rich when idling" and were told we would need to replace the intake manifold for $2110.the explanation we received (verbal only as they refused to describe the problem in writing after asking multiple times) was that a bushing that controls the air flow valves was worn.they could not provide a reason as to what would cause this wear considering the bushing is internal to the control valves.they also could not tell me which specific side this leak was coming from.since the intake manifold is one large component we would need to replace the entire thing.the car is five years old so roughly just over 12k miles per year and already major components are failing.this is from the same dealer (mb georgetown, texas) who once told us our brakes (rotors and pads) were all bad and needed to be replaced.we took it to a trusted mechanic and only needed to replace the front pads as they were getting close to being worn out.we now need a second opinion since i simply do not trust them. The information they provided was "provide estimate to replace intake manifold for vacuum leak at $2110.air leak coming from intake tumble flap assembly."
The contact owns a 2006 mercedes benz c class 230. The contact was driving 15 mph when the red engine warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer who ran a diagnostic test and discovered that the cam shaft was spinning free and would need replacing. There were no recalls for the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not contacted. The vin was unavailable. The failure mileage was 57,000.
I was driving my vehicle on the highway during morning rush hour when i noticed that the car would not accelerate over 35 mph.i moved the car off the highway and stopped at a red light.once i stopped the car itwould not accelerate at all when i stepped on the gas.i had to put the car in park and then move it back to drive to get the car to move.the car would jump and lurch forward when i shifted gears.i drove the car directly to the dealer. The mercedes dealer told me that there was a problem with the software and that the software would need to be updated.i went to pick up my car after the "software " was updated ($1,700 cost) and drove the car about 10 miles when i noticed that the check engine light had come on.i took the car back to the mercedes dealer to let them know the check engine light was now on.the mercedes dealer told me i have a defective balance shaft that needs to be repaired. The mercedes dealer ask me if i had kept up the oil changes on the car.i told the them that i had.the mercedes dealer told me that i have to pay $2,500 just for them to take the engine apart and that the total repair will cost around $6,000.i just purchased the car in july 2010 ( 14 months ownership) with about 19,500 miles on it.
Bought this car with 38000 on it. The get up and go seemed sluggish but mechanic said it checked out. Had some major issues. Car would barely go, went directly to mercedes dealership. Dealer said fuel pump was out $793. Also said i needed to service the transmission, $350. They also said i had a much greater problem. A balance shaft inside the motor and quoted me $4600. The car now has 55,000 miles on it. The warranty was for 4 years or 50,000. The car is one year or 5,000 miles out of warranty. It is hard understand why this type of catastrophic failure is occurring so soon after the warranty is up. I checked this out online and it seems like i'm far from the first owner to have this problem. I saw a lawsuit, too bad i don't know how to participate. I'm really disappointed that mercedesisn't doing the right thing on its own. Please help!
The contact owns a 2006 mercedes benz c230. The contact stated that the vehicle would stall while driving various speeds. After the failure occurred, the contact was able to restart the vehicle and continue driving. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer where the contact was informed that the balance shaft needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 64,037.
The vehicle was being driven on interstate 95 in pompano beach florida, the car started to run rough and the check engine light became illuminated.took the car to the repair shop and it came up with 2 codes 1200 and 1208 intake and exhaust camshaft sensor right cylinder, the mechanics replaced the 2 sensors and a couple weeks later it appeared again.the original mechanic recommended another shop that specialized in mercedes.i took it there a few weeks later and we were informed it is a common problem with the mercedes and that they were being sued for it,and mercedes has put out over 10 tsb on the issue and it has been happening to cars with this new engine. The problem is the sprocket on the balance shaft was not hardened metal, like it was suppose to be.
Check engine light keeps coming on saying something in engine is bad with a price tag of over 6000.00 to fix.
On march 12, 2011, during an "a" service, i was informed by my mechanic, the check engine light was illuminated due to the left intake cam sensor was defective but it was not a big concern.on september 17, 2011, during a "b" service, my mechanic stated the check engine light was illuminated again for the left intake cam and the right exhuast cam adjuster magnets were defective or the balance shaft was worn.at this point the car was running ok but he said if he runs a diagnostic test on the engine again in the near future and it reads a second problem on the right side cam side, there is a strong possibility teeth on the cam spocket due to the usage of an inferior product.he explained it would be approximately $4,000.00 to repair, he was repairing a vehicle with the same problem and showed me the wear on the teeth which cause the inbalance of the shaft and the cams come off line.in my mechanics opinion, mercedes benz knows about their defective part byt they do not want to have a "campaign" to resolve the issue and my type/year engine was made with this inferior part.i travel 80 miles to and from work and cannot afford to spend this money for a repair on a vehicle that is suppose to last me forever.
To whom it may concern. I have the mb c230 2006. I've been losing power while driving. While the car idles it's running as if it's missing like out of timing. I've been to the parts dept because i was told the vehicle was missing. I had the coils changed. Spark plugs changed, yet still the car has no power and when idling the engine runs so violent it's causing the belt to wear. So far i had to buy 5 belts and they won't last more than 4 days. This past week i was also told that the 4 magets would have to be changed. Well i had them changed and still i have a car that has no power. I was finally told by a md mechanic my problem with the car is there's a balance shaft that's inoperable. When i inquire about this item i was told that mercedes benz does not have this as a recall item when in fact this issue has been an issue since 2004. I would like to have any information in regards to repair. There is no way a customer of this auto maker should have to bear the burden of paying for an item when in fact it's been a problem with mercerdes benz from the start.
Engine light illuminated: two diagnostics suggested two separate problems, worn out balance shaft and issues with the intake and exhaust camshaft. Car is sluggish on acceleration and occasionally will not shift out of first gear. Car must be pulled over and turned off, and then the computer resets. This is a periodic problem and is a particular hazardous problem entering high speed highways, which i must do on a dailybasis.
2006 mercedes c230 has a defective balance shaft gear inside engine which drives the timing chain. Mercedes benz knows that the materials used were insufficiently hardened, causing premature wear and possible sudden loss of power resulting in no power steering or power brakes without warning , thereby presenting a danger to vehicle occupants. Mercedes has modified the gear on late 2006 models but never took responsibility to the defective parts already sold in the early 2006 production. This issue has been noted through out a large number of vehicles in the mercedes line. Silent recall has been noted to the technicians but nothing is being done to repair the defect. Maybe save some lives in the process. Also note they are charging owners approx $5000 and dealers state it is happening often between 30,000-100,000 miles. No warning or symptoms until it "just happens".
Periodically the car would lose acceleration and rpms would be high and the vehicle would jerk when i tried changing gears. As i change gears from park, reverse or drive, the gear shift jerks and i am unable to accelerate past 20 mph no matter how much pressure i place on the gas. : extreme loss of acceleration up hill and the steptronic (+/- shifting) did not work... (i could only go 35mph when every one else was going 70mph up hill) when i traveled on a flat surface with no inclination my car worked fine, i then decided to put it on neutral while traveling at 65mph...when i put it back in drive it did not pick up the gears it just continued as if it was in neautral. I had to pull over and shift it into park...as i shifted form "d" to neutral it shifted fine, but then from neutral to "r" the car jerked...from reverse to "p" it jerked again and shifted hard. I then shifted again to reverse, neutral, and drive thus the car jerked and did a hard shift with knocking noise and would not drive. I shifted to neutral again and shut the car off. When i turned it back on it shifted smooth and i drove off without any problem. Took it to a repair shop and received p0717/p0718 fault codes and something about the valve body. I was also told that it was an transmission internal speed sensor issue. There is something faulty with the design and operation of this model year transmission and losing power and being able to only go 35 mph no matter how much you press the gas on the interstate or heavy fast moving traffic is extremely dangerous. Mercedes benz is aware of this problem as many owners have complained but they will not institute a recall.
At the end of jan 2011, my engine light came on in my 2006 c230 mercedes ' benz. I took my vehicle into the dealership to get a diagnostic inspection on feb 1, 2011. The inspection determined the vehicle needed a balance shaft. My vehicle only has 58,705 miles on it and warranty expired on it at 50,000 miles.if driven longer with the engine light on, the vehicle would of malfunction. This safety issue may of cause the vehicle to misfire and stop driving. Mercedes ' benz usa has received several complaints pertaining to this issue for the past few years and nothing is being done about it. Also, several class action lawsuits have been filed about this issue. A recall should be put on engine m272 & m273 balance shaft gear / idle gear. This defect in the engine is a safety issue and may cause a major accident or fatality.the pricing on the service is really ridiculous. Parts $ 478.15 and labor $1946.26. This price was a goodwill gesture.
My 2006 mercedes c230 has a defective balance shaft. I did some research and multiple people are having the same problem. There is a class action suit in the works. I believe this is a defective part that needs to be recalled.
Check engine light came on at about 51k miles, just out of warranty on c230 mercedes.the balance shaft is broken.no help with mercedes on this $3000 repair.*ln
The contact owns a 2006 mercedes benz c230. The contact stated that the engine misfired and the engine warning light illuminated on the instrument panel. The contact took the vehicle to the dealer who replaced the intake manifold and cam sensor, but the failure recurred. The contact was waiting for a representative from the manufacturer to process a complaint.the failure mileage was 29,000 and the current mileage was 92,000.
The engine light went on in my 2006 c230 mercedes (current mileage 57,000) since sept 2010.i later confirmed it's the problem in the balance shaft, which directly impact on the acceleration and failure of the engine.the engine sudden stopped running few times in my commute to work in a freeway.luckily, it was during the rush hour and the traffic was moving slowly.many times when i entered to the freeway in a merge lane, the acceleration didn't work at all and i almost got hit by the other cars in the merge lane.the mechanic advised if continue driving the vehicle without replacing balance shaft will lead to a big danger to the driver and passenger since the engine can be stopped anywhere and anytime.replacing the balance shaft cost $6,000 (from the dealer) and mercedes usa refuse to cover any portion of the repair since my car exceeds 50,000 miles/4 yrs warranty.i talked to the dealer and the service adviser.they said this is a common known problem for many of the mercedes models.in fact, it was in their service bulletin since 2007.unfortunately mercedes wouldn't cover any repair unless there?s a recall or someone die from it.i wonder if mercedes will wait until more injuries before they consider stop using the same balance shaft in their cars.this balance shaft is a very small piece located right in the middle of the engine.the cost of the material is very inexpensive.however, it requires intensive labor because the engine must be taken apart in order to replace the balance shaft.
Received a check engine light notice.took c-230 (2006) to dealer and was told that the code indicated a worn timing gear problem and would require major engine repair.the cost estimate was $4000 to $5000 to take the engine apart and determine if the gear was worn and needed replacement.performed a internet search and found that this is a common problem with these engines.car has 85,000 miles and was purchased in 2008 with 40,000.have not had the repair performed yet.
2006 c230 mercedes benz. Consumer states problem with transmission *tgwthe consumer stated the transmission was slipping between lower gears and it would also shift hard. Also, the oil pan was leaking oil.
I was involved in an auto accident (rear-ended) on dec 21st 2010. The collision resulted in my vehicle being pushed in to another vehicle (truck) in font of me. The resulting crash produced damages to the front and rear of the car totaling 15k.i noticed that my dashboard was lit up with warning signals and check engine light at the seen of the collision. The rear light was explainable as the light was knocked out in the crash. The engine light however was a bit of a mystery. I took the car in for repairs three days later after consulting with the driver at faults' insurance company. The repair company noted the light also. I could arrive at no other conclusion but that the collision was responsible for my engine light suddenly coming on. The insurance company argues that the collision had nothing to do with that particular light coming on. The matter is being dealt with in court. In the meantime, i did some research and ran across hundreds of complaints on line, by mercedes benz drivers, complaining of a cam shaft problem that is identified by an engine light initially. It appears that a part was defective yet no recall has been issued by mercedes. I've reached out to mercedes benz of america. After several calls responding to my inquiry, they stopped informing me of any further findings. This after promising to apprise me of the status of my complaint. My issue is two fold. How much evidence is necessary before it is clear that this product and the series of cars that are impacted by it, warrants a recall?something needs to be done about this wide-spread issue? i must tell you that as a consumer, it is no mystery what most have lost trust in governments ability to serve and protect it's citizens in these matters. I for one am disappointed in the effectiveness of theprocess. I initially contacted this office eight months ago and have heard nothing. My c230 2006 car has a engine noise and thats so loud. Please tell me about this noise . I think that is need to replace.
The contact owns a 2006 mercedes-benz c230. While depressing the accelerator pedal at 60 mph, the vehicle failed to accelerate and the rpms revved without warning. The vehicle was taken to a dealer were it was diagnosed that the catalytic converter needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 74,000.
Hello there, this is my vehicle information2006 mercedes benz c230 sportvin : (xxxxx)and this is the nhtsa recall number : 16v081manufacturer recall number : 2018030001i have started a research after i have experienced too many issues with electricalwiring & headlamps, tailgate lights, stop lights, parking lights and the malfunction on the horn which has stopped working since 2/2/2019.i have also being pulled over by police officers stating that the malfunction on my tail gate lights and stop / brake lights and also headlamps must be repaired asap, i did bought new bulbs and replaced the old bulbs on both low beam headlamps and brake/ stop & parking lights but they only work well for a few days but then they just stop working or work intermittently .... 552(b)(

I can't drive it because its stalling or it shakes to much when u are stoped at a red light it girks alot and i can't drive it cuz it doesn't have a lot of power to get speed when using it on the highway i have had a second opinion on what is wrong with and its the computer system so please help i need assistance my husband and i are disabled also the speedometers is not working.

Vehicle would not shift out of 3 gear when driving 25 miles per hour.rpm's went to 4,000 and i had to stop vehicle and restart.ridiculous because no problems were "found" with vehicle but something is obviously wrong.i will never buy another mercedes benz what a lemon.
Moments after exiting the freeway and reducing speed at around 35 mph my car did not accelerate and continue as it would in neutral.family in the car panic and for my fortune light traffic on an usual busy street.the check engine light did not turn on at the moment of days after the incident.a week later without a warning the vehicle engine light turn on and lost speed in the freeway.this incident could easy cause my family and other drivers a fatal accident and preventable injuries.i have found many similar incidents describing what happen to me and its awful that nothing is being done to fix it.i will contact my local representative and senator to demand action and a formal investigation about this issue.
2006 mercedes c230, loss of power and acceleration. First time it happened when the mileage was 62k. I was driving on shennandoah valley then suddenly the acceleration and engine power keep decreasing though my foot was completely pressing on gas pedal. I decided to full-over to cool down the engine. After re-starting it, the problem went away for awhile andback to normal driving condition.then it happened again when my car had 65k miles, i experienced the same problem but this time from a complete stop from traffic light, when i tried to accelerates.. The car was no acceleration at all though the pedal was completely to the metal. This will be a very bad situation when all of a sudden it will not accelerate to normal running condition, when i needed to enter the highway to merge to a fast moving traffic.
I own a 2006 mercedes c230 with a balance shaft gear problem. The gears are retarding and the problem will cause engine failure. A class action lawsuit has been filed against mercedes benz for the balance shaft gear failure. A recall needs to be issued for all 2006 balance shaft gears on all mercedes benz models.
I was making a right turn stop at a light, when i attempted to accelerate the car took off as it was at a higher gear. Would not pick speed and high rpm. There was a pedestrian riding his bike and made a right turn and because his view was block my the sun he ended up rear ending my car and feel off his bike. The reason i am filing this compliant is if my car was not having this issue the accident could have been prevented bc there was no car in front of me. Thank god the rider was not badly hurt and just had a few scrapes and my car was okay so we went our separate ways. There are so many compliant about this sameissues about the car not accelerating and gears getting stuck it is becoming ridiculous. I am sure there has been cases where people are severely injured or passed awaybc of this issue but ones that didn't survived are not here to file their complaints. This is a serious matter and a recall needs to be done before bodies actually start piling up. Mercedes.benz are known to be high end luxury cars and they need to actually drive like ones.. The manufacturer need to step up and acknowledge this important matter and do the recall.

The transmission internal speed sensor failed indicating that the valve body needs replacing. The gears are not shifting properly and get stuck. I have to pull over and turn the car off for about 10 minutes to let everything reset and then ok to drive. If i do not stop and turn car off and put it into park with engine still on and try to shift back into driveit is a hard shift and then the car will jerk. I saw on line all the complaints with the same problems for the c230 sport.
Takata recall- went in for recall srslight turned on.dealer said it would cost 150- to find out problem, i've said isn' the srs light is the airbag unit? he said no mechanic is going work if the red light is on, unless the red light not there.so i've asked what if something happens along the way? he said sorry, then( i rescheduled in 5 days. I took car home to get srs-redligjt off.) athonolulu, mercedes benz.

2006 c230 mercedes benz. Consumer states problem with transmission *tgwthe consumer stated the transmission was slipping between lower gears and it would also shift hard. Also, the oil pan was leaking oil.
The failure in this case is the replacement of the counter balance shaft on a 2006 c230 mercedes benz with less than 100,000 miles.i've read that many of these failures have occurred and the reason for failure was due to the shaft not having proper hardening.i've also read the mercedes benz is aware of this problem.the cost of the repair is about $4500 on a vehicle that the warranty goes out in 4 years or 50,000 miles.all services to this vehicle have been done as required, but not through the dealership. Information i've read about this problem states that there's nothing i could have done to keep this from happening and that it's happening to many, many vehicles.i believe if this is happening frequently that the manufacture should be responsible for the costs associated with this type of repair.thank you for your time and consideration.
Was driving at 55mph and then all of a sudden my car speed dropped down to 20 mph even with my gas pedal pushed all the way down and the rpms went between 6000 to 7000.i had to put on my flashers and pull to the side of the road and then car hard shifted to park and then again into drive. Once i turned the car completely off it restarted with no issues and had car towed to the dealer.
Having problem with the gear shifting, believe this is caused by the shaft balancer, etc. The car grabs and jerks from time to time making me unsure of the safety of my car. On nov 27, 2013, i was in the los angeles area on highway 14 traveling around 70 mph on the highway w/ many cars and my speed dropped to around 50 mph in spite of my foot downing the accelerator to the floor. I had to turn on my emergency lights and move over to the slow lane for safety. Returning home that same day on the same freeway, the car would not accelerate or transmission would not downshift to compensate for the uphill on the freeway in spite of stepping down on the accelerator- again i had to flash my emergency lights on and move to the slow lane. There is no sensor light on the dashboard for both incidents. My mechanic reported it will be hard to diagnose the transmission problem since there is no sensor light on. On nov 29, 2013, i traveled to las vegas and the transmission repeated the decelerating incident and failure of the accelerator to increase engine or transmission speed. This is dangerous.
On or about may 17, 2011 my 2006 c230 at the time with 83,312, you drive normally, make a stop on a traffic light for example, when it's time to go, you release the brake, accelerate, and nothing happens except for rpms revving up. The gear shifter is in "d" drive, gauge between the odometer/tachometer shows "d" drive as well, however the car acts as if it was in neutral!!! shifting into neutral, reverse, or park, or back into drive - doesn't help! it's like a transmission is stuck in neutral!!! also, shifting into d+/- to engage manual shifting doesn't work! and as far as you keep moving the shifter into reverse, neutral, manual shift, drive - the car electronic gear display on the dashboard still shows that the car is in "d" drive regardless of what position you move the shifter; and the car behaves as if it was in neutral all this time (you accelerate, rpms goes up, remove the foot from the pedal - engine idles). The only way to make the transmission work again is to shift it into park "p", and then turn off the engine, and then turn the engine back on, and then transmission works well again for tens or hundreds of miles before it gets "neutralized" paralyzed again. This also happened to me while driving down the i-5 in california around 70 mph's and i had to pull to the side of the road and turn the car off and back on, in order for it to start working normal. That is dangerous, what if i wouldn't have been able to stop on the side of the road it would have caused an accident.
The contact owns a 2006 mercedes benz c230. While driving approximately 70 mph, the vehicle decelerated independently to 10 mph. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the transmission control module was faulty. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 90,000.
While driving the vehicle, the check engine light began to flash rapidly, the engine began to run extremely rough, had little power, and was no longer drivable. Luckily, this happened on a surface street and not on the freeway where, i believe, it could have resulted in harm to me or other drivers. The problem was caused by a defective plastic bushing in the intake manifold which broke and was sucked into valve #4 which then burned the valve. At the time of the incident, the vehicle had approximately 84,000 miles on it. I was informed by the mechanic who performed the repair on my vehicle that their mb parts supplier stated that mb is aware of this defective plastic bushing. However, the parts supplier was apparently not personally aware of it causing the type of extensive damage i experienced. Mb refuses to acknowledge, at least to me, that they are aware of past instances involving this defective plastic bushing or to even consider that it is a problem that they should take responsibility for before it results in harm. I hope someone will take this problem seriously and investigate its potential for harm.
The contact owns a 2006 mercedes benz c230. The contact was driving 50 mph when the check engine warning light illuminated and the engine started sputtering. The vehicle was taken to a private mechanic where the mechanic confirmed that the balance shaft needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was not contacted. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 1,000 and the current mileage was 1,300.
We own a mercedes benz c230.the check engine light came on.we took it to the dealer and it was diagnosed with a balance shaft error.it turns out the balance shaft is broken.the part cost only about $400.but since replacing it requires pulling out and taking a part the engine, the repair is over $3000.we have been advised not to drive the vehicle.it has not been repaired.
The contact owns a 2006 mercedes c230. The contact was driving 65 mph and attempting to change lanes. When the accelerator pedal was depressed, the vehicle began to lose power abnormally. The vehicle exhibited a slight jerking motion before stalling. The contact was able to get the vehicle to restart, but the vehicle moved very sluggish. The contact was able to get the vehicle to a mechanic and was told that the transmission slipped. The contact then took the vehicle to an authorized dealer where they replaced the valve body, k1 clutch and the transmission. The contact was told that the failure occurred because the hydraulic seal for the components failed. The failure and current mileage was 40,000. Updated 06/01/11*lj updated 1/18/2012 *ln
1. Vehicle takes to mercedes benz dealership on 8/31/07 for seat belt malfunction.seat belt self-arresting. Mercedes benz inspects and determines "seat belt functioning properly".2. Vehicle in a rear collision on 9/25/07 and seat belts do not arrest.driver (self) hits the steering wheel at right brow andlower back injury appears within 2 weeks of accident. 3. Safety complaint registered with mercedes (after much pressure).mercedes inspects in front of me by yanking the belt and says the seat belt is functioning properly.the seat belt does arrest when yanked, but did not arrest when rear ended.4. Question: does mercedes have an obligation to further inspect the safety of the seat belt besides "yanking" it in front of me?should the seat belt be replaced?mercedes refuses to go any further and my statue of limitations - 2 years is almost running out.how can i make sure i am driving a safe vehicle?
The contact owns a 2006 mercedes benz c230.while merging onto an intersection at 10 mph, another vehicle crashed directly into the front end of the vehicle.the vehicle sustained severe damage.none of the air bags deployed and the seat belts failed to retract properly.three occupants were moderately injured. The contact has a copy of the police report and pictures of the failed incident.he is in the process of calling the manufacturer in reference to nhtsa campaign id numbers 05v560000 (air bags).the failure and current mileages were 51,000.
Takata recall i was rear ended and headrest airbags deployed.
Sometimes, engines yellow light is on, and car had a little shaking, and lakes are soft when braking,. And the car window aside of front guest stops moving up and down.

This car pulls to the right and nearly changed lanes and almost hit another car during a split second of looking at the gas gauge and not down the road.i took the car into mzb with the complaint.they said it was my driving habit.later they said it was the curve of the road.still later they said it was the tires not inflated.as i continued to ask for help on this issue and several times bringing it back to the dealer they finally said that a mzb rep will go with me on a test ride.during the test ride i stated that at any moment you ask i will let go of the steering wheel and the car will turn to the right.after several of these demonstrations to him he then held the wheel himself and felt the pull.he agreedwith me that there was a problem.upon returning to the dealership they met in a meeting without me and began to do this and that with the car on the rack.i asked what are you doing?they told me minor adjustments.later the car was released to me and in fact the problem was better however not corrected.this car has a terrible problem and does not run down the road straight since i bought it new.i drive it now the way it is because i am tired of mzb and their tactics.the car was returned to mzb 12 times in the first year of ownership for repairs.please help if possible.
Few miles driven and a squeaking noise from under the windshield do not allow to drive with necessary serenity. After 5 intervention on the car finally they solved the problem, replacing 3 times the plastic cover under the windshield, one time completely replaced the windshield. Now that the winter and cold temperatures are back the noise is back again. Unbelievable for a mercedes-benz.
"chrome" coatings on gearshift and miscellaneous interior trim is prone to shredding apart, resulting in sharp metallic shards that can become lodged beneath the skin.
This automobile is unsafe because of the dangerous sunroof being detached.

While driving on a city street in stop and go traffic, i noticed that the car was not shifting gears. The tachometer would rev high but the vehicle would not accelerate in accordance with the revolutions.once traffic freed up from a stop and go 20 mile/hr the car would not shift gears and remained in limp mode.i brought the car to my mechanic who confirmed it was a transmission problem.the current quote to replace the 7 speed 722.9 transmission is $2800 parts and labor.
Suddenly during normal driving conditions, when trying to accelerate the car is very sluggish and the rpm are very high.this happens without warning increasing the potential for a crash.the problem is normally rectified temporarily by restarting the vehicle.
