Takata recallour car was in a collision in 2011 and the airbags did not deploy. We wondered why as we were traveling about 35-40 mph on a highway
The contact owns a 2006 mazda tribute. The contact stated that while driving 50 mph, she crashed into the rear of another vehicle. The air bags failed to deploy. No one was injured and the vehicle was destroyed. The second vehicle did not sustain any visible damages. The police were notified and a police report was filed. The manufacturer was notified who offered no assistance. The failure mileage was 96,000.
The contact owns a 2006 mazda tribute. When the contact's son exited the vehicle and shut the door, the front driver and passenger air bags, along with the side air bags deployed. The contact and passenger were both injured, but did not receive medical attention. A police report was filed and the vehicle was towed to the contact's home. An unknown dealer was contacted and stated that their service department was closed. The manufacturer was not contacted. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The failure mileage was 105,000.
"takata recall"i had an airbag failure after hitting a deer at 65 miles per hour on the hwy.the charge in the airbag went off but the air bag did not deploy.the airbag light remains on.i need this fixed!
Air bag warning light in the instrument cluster stays on at all times
Last night 01/11/2018, i was driving home and my airbag light came on. This morning my gas pedal was sticking, and it was hard to drive/go. Once i reached the main street, it was hard to accelerate. Now the airbag light won't go off.
This involves my drivers side door that can no longer be opened by my remote..it all started after getting a new battery installed..all the other doors on my suv open and lock with the remote. The drivers side door is the only door that i have to use my car key to open. There must be some defect. I've read that others who have mazda tributes have the same problem after a new battery is installed.
Door ajar light comes on even though all doors are firmly closed. Warning alarm (ding) comes on randomly along with interior dome light and won't shut off. All doors are closed but light goes on and off randomly and constantly draining the battery. Also just had to replace the smart junction box because the door unlock button no longer worked on any of the doors or key fob so i could no longer open the back hatch.
Heard noise of knocking rattling 2014-15 had it towed to machanic and they informed me of i needed a new engine. Got it replaced with a jasper rebuilt. Right at 4 years it happens again, one yr after warranty. Researching for either resell value or new engine game across a pleathera of seezed engines and thrown rods. Most vehicles has great body but blown engine.
My mazda tribute v 6, 3.0 all of a sudden stopped on the highway. I had it towed to my son's house, than to the mazda dealership.it was at the dealership when i was told what had occurred.my coils had blown out and damaged my (pcm)computer.they said it would cost $2689.i could not afford the dealership's cost so i had it towed again to a private mechanic where he replaced the coils.i went on ebay and found a reasonably priced pcm where it was programmed keys included.my research has led me into writing this letter.i found that ford motors and their affiliates have known about this problem with the coils blowing out the pcm for quite some time and have never told the owners of their vehicles about this problem.if i had known i would have never purchased the vehicle.
Today 12-15-14 i went to pick up my son at school it is cold outside so i left my car running with the heater on when i got out of the car the car locked on its own and i could not get back in. If someone had a baby in the car and got out and it locked you could not get in that is not safe. It took me over 1 hour to get in my car i had groceries in there. No vehicle should lock with the keys in the ignition and the car on and in park. Thank you.
I purchased a mazda tribute 2006 model on 9/4/06 and i took it in on 11/1/06 for water in headlamp, water was getting down the in windows, and tire pressure light blinking. I was told at the end of the day that the car was not ready because they could not figure out the tire pressure light problem and they ordered a part.well, the next day it was the same thing, needed another part and they have been on the phone with mazda tech support.well today is 11/7/06 and i still do not have my vehicle back.they are now saying that they have ordered another part and it will be three to four days because the part is on back order.i feel i have bought a defective vehicle and mazda should give me another vehicle to replace it.this vehicle (from the sounds of southern states) has had all of the computer censorsreplaced minus the major one (according to southern states) and for a vehicle to be new as this one is with these kind of problems, i feel is defective.
My battery began being drained for no apparent reason.i bought a new battery but it didn't solve the problem. When it is cold i have to have my car jumped to start most of the time.i sat in the car listening to the radio for about 15 minutes this summer and then found the battery was dead.the rear wiper stopped working and my back up lights stopped working about a year ago.also the driver's side door would not unlock with the remote.i did have a remote start installed shortly after i purchased my car and it has been checked out and is not the source of the problem.although not life threatening is extremely frustrating to have to continually find jumps and help in order to drive my car.not having back up lights may lead to an accident eventually.
Drving on the higway and the car turn off lost power ,lost steeing,i was able to control the veicle .pull over to the side of the higway, waited for a while , started again but the speed was do miles , engine bibrating, mechanic says that need to replace the pcm and 6 idg coils
Air bag warning light in the instrument cluster stays on at all times
When driving, the car is all over the road. I have changed the tires, and it still waivers..its like the steering component is loose, or the stability cable is loose. Steering wanders back and forth and it hard to contain even more when windy. Pulls to the right all the time. I have also done wheel adjustments and alignings, and doesn't help. I only have 56,000 on the car.
When cold, gas pedal will not depress. Becomes firm and resistant to pressure. Have to slam on pedal, but receive no power from engine---happens alot when trying to turn corners, will not accelerate- can cause severe if not fatal accident if this occurs at the wrong time.please force mazda to issue recall for this part, could be related to throttle body as well
Just bought this car from a used dealership in milwaukee, wi. I have a 90 day warranty on the car. In under 30 days the engine has locked up on this truck. I was going at least 10/15 mph turning into the bank when the wheel locked up, the engine and oil light came on, and the truck shut off completely. It would not start after that. Finally, after it did start there is a horrible knocking. Probably threw a rod..... Most horrible experience i've ever had with a vehicle, and this is my first newer car!!!! my old 2000 chevy impala with 200,000 miles on it drove like a champ! too bad i sold it not more than an hour before my new car went kaput!
The contact owns a 2006 mazda tribute. The contact received notification of nhtsa campaign id number 12v357000 (engine and engine cooling) but was unable to have the vehicle serviced because the remedy part would not become available until mid august of 2012. The manufacturer was contacted and they informed the contact that there was a delay for the remedy part until november of 2012. The contact believed that the recall had exceeded a reasonable amount of time. The contact had not experienced a failure.
As the weather gets cold, the gas pedal becomes harder to depress, and at times will not depress at all. This has caused numerous near misses when attempting to accelerate around a turn as the pedal will lock in place and the vehicle will not accelerate at all. It takes significant force to depress the pedal, to the point of stomping on it, and even then it does not always work.this is a very serious safety issue, one that will at some point result in a very severe if not deadly crash, and no one seems the slightest but interested in fixing the problem.
Vehicle traveling on interstate highway of major metropolitan city when smoke from engine brought vehicle and traffic to standstill.two fire trucks and police responded.oil found sprayed on highway and throughout engine compartment, with total loss of engine oil.vehicle taken to dealership service department for diagnosis.per dealership report, oil leak found emanating from a large gaping hole on bottom of engine block (v6) where it appears cylinder rod #5 disconnected and went through the bottom of the engine block and ruptured the oil filter, releasing all engine oil content.engine considered blown by dealership and given out of warranty, an $8500 engine replacement is required at the total expense of the owner given the vehicle is beyond the 36,000 mile engine warranty period, and therefore mazda is not responsible.driver experienced major trauma, smoke inhalation in compartment, and traffic backed up on interstate causing major delays of people to the local international airport.mazda unresponsive for issue and repair. Vehicle engine was extensively tested by the state's department of motor vehicles in may 2012 for mandatory emission testing, and passed all testing standards, and documented.owner will now junk vehicle that was in excellent condition given extensive damage and at total loss to the owner.
Not sure, but think there is a leak at the transfer case. It smells when sitting for a few moments, there is no oil leaks.
I was unable to stop my vehicle in time to avoid a collision with another car.it felt to me that i had no control over the car because the engine was racing. I applied the brakes hard but the car would not stop.the traffic light had just changed andi was accelerating to go through the light.that is when the vehicle went out of my control.after the accident, i tried to drive my car away from the scene but the engine was racing and i could not control the car.that is when i realized that the vehicle is not drivable because the engine appears to bestuck with the throttle open.i tried to drive it but had to use the emergency brake to stop it.

On feb 14, 2014 my mazda tribute 2006 without any warning engine failure stalledon the road. Engine light malfunctioned no warning about oil level. I was very fortunate that the car did not stall crossing the 26 miles causeway bridge located in new orleans. I called road service brought car to paretti mazdadealership in metaire louisiana. I was treated extremely badly all service personel were rude and refused to offer any options about my vehicle other than $6200 for engine repair and no explaination why the engine light did not work. I was even offer a trade to purchased another mazda from that dealership.
The contact owns a 2006 mazda tribute. While making a left turn, the brake pedal was depressed and traveled to the floorboard. On another occasion, the accelerator pedal was depressed, but the vehicle stalled in the middle of the road. The vehicle was pulled over to the side of the road. The contact walked to sullivan ford lincoln inc (759 magee dr, brookhaven, ms 39601, (601) 833-7521), but they were unable to assist the contact. The vehicle was then towed to bill hood mazda (333 n morrison blvd, hammond, la 70401, (866) 726-1249) where the vehicle was awaiting to be diagnosed. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 250,000.
We purchased a used 2006 mazda tribute with about 83,000 miles on it from a car dealer.less than 2 months after purchasing it, the timing chain broke and the engine failed. The engine failed after the car was parked and we attempted to restart it.
I was driving down the freeway at 65 mph when the car started jerking and threatening to stop in the middle of the freeway. The "o/d off" light started flashing on the console. I pulled off at the next exit and the light stopped flashing and the car stopped jerking. The minute i got back on the freeway it started again. I took the car to the mechanic and after closer inspection and repair it was discovered that the clutch was burned out in third gear. The cost of repair to the tune of approximately $2000.00 and four business days later. I have only had the car since the end of july 2011. No warning signs, nothing to indicate a problem was occurring.
The contact owns a 2006 mazda tribute. While driving 85 mph and depressing the brake pedal. The vehicle accelerated without warning. The brake pedal had to be depressed multiple times to slow the vehicle down. The contact drove the vehicle home. Also, while the vehicle was in drive, it accelerated at full throttle. The contact called kinsel ford (located at 3355 eastex fwy, beaumont, tx 77706, (409) 899-4000) and was informed that the vin was included in nhtsa campaign number: 12v357000 (engine and engine cooling, vehicle speed control). The dealer stated that if the failure was related to the recall, there would be no charge. The vehicle was not taken to a dealer and was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 115,000.

2006 mazda tribute. Runs fine during warm weather. At the slightest outbreak of cold weather, accelerator does not depress, unable to get any power from the engine.will freeze up at times while driving or not work at all. Has been doing this for years, mazda refuses to acknowledge problem. Has almost caused numerous accidents when accelerating around a turn due to loss of power. Mazda has recalled previous modelyears for this problem but will not recall this model. Please change that.
After coming to a stop at an uphill grade--approx a 20 degree incline, as soon as the brake is released, the vehicle rolls backwards.the only means to prevent the vehicle from rolling back is to press on the brake again or to immediately press hard on the gas pedal.however, although the vehicle eventually starts moving uphill, there is a significant amount of backward travel prior to the engine producing enough power to overcome the backward roll.this is a safety concern since there might be vehicles directly behind me when this occurs.fortunately, i have not had to stop at any steep grades that might cause the vehicle to rollback faster and further and possibly causing an accident.
Vehicle makes a loud high pitch whining noise when engine is around 1000 rpm but disappears when the engine is below or above the1000 rpm. This occurs regardless of whether the car is parked or during normal driving conditions so long as the engine is around 1000rpm.in addition to the high pitch whining noise, there is a noticeable amount of vibration that is felt.also, after coming to a full stop, without the gas pedal being pressed, after having revved down to about 650 rpm, the engine sometimes revs back up to about 1000 rpm and produce the whining noise.
Mazda tributecruise control failureengine problems my name nageswar karrii have a mazda tribute, 2006 model. After 2500 miles, first time i tried cruise control for 2 minute then my car can not go forward on the free way in the middle of the freeway i try to pull over but i couldn't slowly i pull over left line. I don't understand what is the customer service for mazda..they said 24 hours 7 days a week road side assistance?..where is the assistance that time 7:00pm...i really get mad because i have 3 years daughter in my suv... It is crazy....
Dt*:the contact stated without warning the vehicle stalled while decelerating at 40 mph.the dealership was unable to duplicate the problem.
I have a mazda tribute 2006 and the gas pedal sticks quite often.sometimes it happens when i start driving after stopping at a stop sign or a traffic light.it has happened during a ride if i pull the gas pedal to reduce.are there any other mazda owners with the same problem?
Tribute gas pedal is locking (sticking) and unable to be pressed. This problem has occurred several times lately the latest being this morning while taking my child to school trying to go up a hill i was unable to press the gas pedal which i had to abruptly pull over nearly causing an accident and scaring my child and myself. This is occurring more frequently and thus becoming more hazardous. Something needs to be done to correct this problem, it going to cause a serious accident or fatality.
For the past year, the vehicle's accelerator/gas pedal has at times felt "stuck" so that the driver must press down harder than normal to accelerate. Originally the driver was under the impression that the mat was obstructing the gas pedal's ability to be depressed. Over time however, the vehicle has shown an increased difficulty in the gas pedal being depressed. Most recently, on january 23, 2014, the vehicle was idling while in traffic. When the driver attempted to press down on the accelerator, the gas pedal did not move. The driver was forced to press hard on the accelerator, and when doing so, the accelerator became "stuck" and quickly jolted the vehicle forward. The driver had to immediately press down on the brake to avoid collision with the vehicle in front. The speed at the time was less than 15 miles per hour and the driver was able to come to a stop avoiding collision. Since the incident on january 23, the vehicle's gas pedal has increasingly shown more "sticking" and has become very hard to accelerate without applying a great amount of pressure down on the pedal. This causes concern as the vehicle quickly accelerates in a jump-like manner rather than slowly accelerating to a comfortable driving speed. The 2006 mazda tribute is a 4 cylinder and the manufacturer has not issued a recall at this time.
When vehicle has been running for less than 10 minutes the accelerator pedal will not depress unless unusual amount of force or tapping of pedal is used.
Acceleration pedal stuck in the down position until stomping on it which causes the car to accelerate quickly.this has occurred multiple times in the last few days and i read online that it happens to many other mazda tribute owners.
When the air temp is below 60 degrees, the accelerator sticks upon acceleration. Once this happens, the gas pedal cannot be depressed unless you exert extreme force on it with your foot. This is extremely dangerous if you need to accelerate to cross traffic or similar type of situation. Once the engine warms up, or if the air temp warms up above 60 degrees, the problem will not occur.
While passing a slower vehicle on a two lane road, the mazda tribute's accelerator stuck. I let off the gas at 65mph but the engine continued to accelerate to over 4000 rpm and 85 mph. The brakes did little to slow the car(i got it down to 80mph). Trying toraise or move the gas peddle did nothing to change the speed. I was able to shift into neutral gear and as the car slowed down, i applied the hand (emergency) brake and pulled off the road onto a wide shoulder. Starting the engine again later, it started at the previous high rpm's. I called for a tow truck and did not drive it further .i have had problems with the cruise control suddenly accelerating for an instant before returning to normal settings. This has been erratic and cannot be reproduced for the service departments. Two weeks ago, the cruise control started dropping out (turns off) with out warning. The dealer could not replicate the problem., but replaced a switch without any effect.
The contact owns a 2006 mazda tribute.while driving 62 mph, the vehicle appeared to have lost power without warning and would not accelerate normally.the vehicle continued to hesitate for approximately 40 to 50 more miles.the contact had to pump the accelerator pedal until the vehicle reached 60 mph.the vehicle was driven to the contact's residence.the vehicle was then taken to a mazda dealer and they performed a diagnostic.the results determined that there was a loose ground on the fuel pump driver module.the loose ground was cleaned and tightened.there is a service bulletin for this exact failure.the bulletin number was unknown.the current mileage was 19,136 and failure mileage was 18,900.
On 2/10/11 my son was in an accident with our 2006 madza tribute.the gas pedal would stick every now and then, and the only way to release it was to push down on it with you foot and it would resume.unfortuntly, he was driving on the i-5 freeway near grants pass, oregon when it stuck and he lost control of the vehicle.he hit a semi truck, then a 2nd semi truck, and was cited for reckless driving, although driving the legal speed limit on dry pavement.my son is 31.the state police gave him a blood test for alleged driving under the influence, but it came up negative.he is suffering muscular injuries as is his girlfriend who was a passenger in the vehicle.the gas pedal sticking would happen a couple of times a month, just off and on, and i currently only work part time since loosing my full time employment this past june (2010).the vehicle is totaled as a result of the accident.i am now without transportation and have to purchase a replacement vehicle, and/or have repaired an old car i have sitting at home.i wonder if other madza tributes are having this problem.[xxx]information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).
My gas pedal gets stuck..help!! i was on my way to work. I put my foot on the gas pedal and it was stuck. I quickly pushed the brake and was able to pull over. I remember hearing about this so i pulled up my carpet thinking it might be that. I started back on my way to work and the pedal was "sticky". After work i was trying to pull out of my parked spot. My gas pedal got stuck again. My car was accelerating on its' own. I tried the brake it would not help. I put it in neutral and it slowed down. I was finally able to stop the car. I got out of the car to see what was going on and could not figure it out. I got back in the car and tried again, it was still stuck. This was so bad because not only was it dangerous for me, i am a teacher and the students walk through the parking lot all the time. It was dangerous for everyone. I called the mazda dealer ( i have a 2006 tribute) asking if there was a recall, they said no. I came home and found that many people had this same problem (the ford escape is the same as my car) their gas pedal gets stuck!!! this is horrible, common, and dangerous.
My 2006 mazda tribute has been experiencing problems with the accelerator sticking in the idle position. This evening the pedal would not budge at all leaving the vehicle in idle and me stranded. I am concerned that this pedal problem may cause me to accelerate suddenly if i push very hard on the pedal.
Gas pedal sticks constantly, when you come to a stop and then attempt to accellerate.

When cold, gas pedal will not depress. Becomes firm and resistant to pressure. Have to slam on pedal, but receive no power from engine---happens alot when trying to turn corners, will not accelerate- can cause severe if not fatal accident if this occurs at the wrong time.please force mazda to issue recall for this part, could be related to throttle body as well
Have a 2006 mazda tribute 4cyl, and am having speed control issues when the weather is cold. The gas pedal sticks and will not depress, even when being stomped on. This issue occurs when the temperature drops below 40 degrees. It has happened when coming around a corner, or when driving in regular traffic, forcing me to coast to the shoulder, almost causing accidents. Please look into this model as well for a recall relating to this issue. Thank you
It is been happening more frequently, the gas pedal sticks and cannot be pressed down. Occured several times including some times wheni was driving. I have seen several complaints for the same issue.i'm worry about this, it could cause an accident. Something has to be done!!
Hello- our 2006 mazda tribute recently had issues related to spider webs in the vent hose- in the service department notes, the following issues were noted related to the fuel tank: canister vent filter and hose: end of vent hose at top of filler kneck plugged with spider websthis resembles issues that prompted the recall of later models, however in contacting mazda, nobody has responded to my concern, basically stating that this recall does not apply to this year - i do understand that, but since the issue is identical, i would think that they would at least want to know about it and have a reporting system for it? before taking the car to the mechanic, it would only accept 10 dollars of gas at a time, which shows pressure build up. This same vehicle was found to have water in the tank about a year ago and i wonder if the vent hose is also the culprithttps://www.usatoday.com/story/driveon/2014/04/09/mazda-spiders/7494105/

My 2006 tribute has 47,000 miles.the abs light came on-and stayed on, and the 4wd light flashed on and off 3 or 4 times about every mile.our dealer inspected and found it was a broken part in the front axle, which was under warranty.they kept the car overnight and replaced it.i asked if we could expect this to happen to the other axle and they could not give a definitive answer.even more troubling is the fact that now the car pulls to the right.their mechanic noted in his repair report, but they didn't bother to tell us about it because he said it was nothing he did.when something like and axle is involved, shouldn't an alignment be part of the service?and aren't they at least morally obligated to tell me that the car 'pulls' now?
Driving vehicle on a residential road, as i accelerated up small hill, transmission did not shift from 2nd to 3rd gear. Rpms spiked to 5000 then the transmission shifted hard into next gear. Since this incident the problem has occurred more frequently, no matter what the elevation. Because of this problem the tribute has no power and no acceleration until shifting. This is extremely dangerous when pulling out or crossing traffic. Today, each time i am at a stop, the transmission sticks in 2nd gear until the rpms spike then it will shift. The tribute has only 76500 miles. It is adult owned and well maintained. Please review this as a possible recall issue to avoid so many others spending thousands on repairs and possible injury from accident!
Not sure, but think there is a leak at the transfer case. It smells when sitting for a few moments, there is no oil leaks.
This needs to be investigated and a recall issued by mazda. 3,700.00 dollars later to have transmission rebuilt. Recall was issued for 2001 - 2003mazda tribute why not for every year they are using the same transmission cd4e from ford.

I was at a stoplight, and started to hit the gas, but nothing happened. The car would not go into gear. I finally got the car to work for about 200 feet, and then the same thing happened. I started my car again, and again it went for 200 feet before storpping and stalling. I took the car to a mechanic who informed me that my transmisson had failed, and there is a high failure rate with my car and its transmission. I did research online, and discovered several mazda owners with the same issue.
I bought this car used approximately three years ago and it has only been driven around town except to my honeymoon. My daughter was driving home from a friends house.she called me and told me her car would not go.i went to see if i could figure out what was wrong with the car.after sitting not running for approximately 30 minutes, the car would drive at 35 mph for less that .5 miles.i did this for the 10 miles and approximately 1.5 hours we arrived at my parents house which was the closest location. After sitting all night, it did the same thing.while attempting to drive home it would only rev the engine and you could change gears without anything happening to the transmission. After taking it to the mechanics, $3600 late, the mechanic told me that mazda knows about this problem.the transmission vendors from which my new one was bought told the mechanic, the problem is due to the transmission fluid becoming to hot and not being able to cool down fast enough.thanks mazda this will be the last of your products that i will purchase.
Needed an overhaul of the transmission.internal damage was done yet the car isn't old.the mechanics said they had a tribute 2006 with the same exact issue, and then another shop next city over had again another tribute same issue.when i'd drive it would no longer stay in gear until i turned it off and let it sit a while then would go again.
2006 mazda tribute s 3.0l 6 cyl. 4x4received the dreaded news a p0740 code along with 4 others all dealing with the transmissiono. Driving my car came to a red light and vehicle would then only go 30 miles an hour. Plus would not go in reverse anymore. P0740 deals with a torque converter clutch system malfunction, p0720 output shaft sensor circuit malfunction and some others dealing with a speed cable, etc....appears mazda tribute's have this know problem and mazda is doing nothing about it. This needs to be investigated more and a recall issued by mazda for all years on this vehicle. Maintenance would done on the transmission at the right intervals and this shouldn't have happen. Transmission fluid was check by the repair shop and they said nothing is wrong with the fluids. Notice mazda issued a recall for this vehicle but only for 2000 - 2003 years i believe. After researching this problem, i notice a lot of people were having to get their transmission overhauled. Knew i should of stuck with a ford because no transmission problems with their vehicles. All fords have over 160000 miles on them. Plus one a 2003 ford f250 super duty has over 218,000 miles on it. Need to get mazda to issue a recall on this vehicle for their transmission because it appears to be an issue with it.
Gas pedal got stuck during driving.
Throttle stuck causing engine to race and vehicle unresponsive.i had to throw the car into park (while it was moving) and turn off the key to get the car to stop.i had my children in the car, and in other circumstances, this could have been a disaster.my concern isn't that they won't fix it, but that from researching websites, it appears that this isn't an uncommon problem with the mazda.so why isn't it a recall item?
I am the original owner of a 2006 tribute.at just under 50,000 miles the abs light came on and the 4wd started flashing.the dealership said it was the ring on one of the front axles.turns out it was the passenger side.now, just last month, at about 70,000 miles the lights and flashing started again.this time it was the driver side axle that went bad.we have also had to replace both u-joints.even worse, the area dealerships said we needed to buy the entire drive shafts to fix the problem; they're about $800 each because mazda does not carry just the u-joints.the first parts store we called had them in stock and they were $23 for both.
Seat belt hazard.the locking system in the seat belt have restrained me once in the front passenger seat.the back seat belt is now locked down and will not move.
The contact owns a 2006 mazda tribute. While examining the vehicle the contact noticed that the seat buckle latch was detached from the seat belt buckle. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where the contact was informed that the repair could not be made due to the parts being on back order. The vehicle was not repaired. The current and failure mileages were 77,000. The vin was not available.
2006 mazda tribute:in the last two weeks the driver side seat belt has locked into place and driver was unable to get out of the car.one of the times, driver drove to a dealership where it was totally disconnected from the floor behind the seat; so driver could get out.mechanic said to not buckle again, but it is routine, so it happened again.now when driving, the buzzer buzzes frequently to remind to buckle seatbelt, that cannot be unbuckled.it is buckled up, and driver is sitting on the belt. This car belongs to a 78 year old, who would not be able to get out if she had a wreck.it has happened to multiple drivers of her car.thanks(the car belongs to my mother, and i am concerned for her safety and the safety of anyone else with this model.)
Pulling up to place my order in a drive through with the car going idle speed when the brakes were applied i heard the front brake line blow causing my car to lose ability to stop. Underneath the brake line was a puddle of brake fluid.
My mother was driving down the street on her way home and all of a sudden she ended up one the grass of the media and then across the street and thenback up on the grass of the media and into a light pole where she died.
On several occasions my vehicle has had a sticky gas pedal. I alerted the dealership in the past advising of this same issue regarding my prior2003 mazda tribute vehicle. I was told in the past to change the gas utilized. In addition, i was recently advised to bring the vehicle in for service due to a possible recall. My car is now at the dealership and i have been advised there are no recalls and i will be charged$357 to have a ring put on the left wheel causing a malfunction in the braking system (abs light). This is after taking the car in due to the gas pedal sticking causing me to ride onto the curb with my babies to avoid another accident. Still i am not being advised that the gas issue will be corrected. Mazda has caused me so much stress, time, and physical pain. It is unfortunate that someone has to actually die for the research to begin!
Abs warning light went on indicating anti lock brake system not working.same thing happened 09/13/10 while car still covered by five year warranty.roto mazda of arlington heights, il did warranty repair and reassured me that the other three abs sensors were checked and the problem should not recur.my research on the internet shows this has been a common problem for many mazda tributes all the way back to 2000 and up through 2006 or even later.there is no reason for these anti locking brake systems to fail so quickly and so often.my first failure in 2010 occurred when odometer mileage was below 15,000.
The contact owns a 2006 mazda tribute.while attempting to parallel park, the brake pedal extended to the floor.the contact noticed brake fluid leaking underneath the vehicle.the vehicle was towed to a dealer and they stated that the brake line appeared to have been cut out.the contact stated that this was impossible.the mechanic then speculated that the brake line may have become loose on its own.the dealer replaced both front brake lines.a week later, the vehicle was not braking properly.she took the vehicle back to the dealer, but they found no failures.the following day, while driving downhill at 10 mph, the brakes failed when the pedal was depressed.she managed to stop the vehicle and noticed that all of the brake fluid had leaked out again.the vehicle was towed to the mechanic and he stated that the same failure occurred, but only to the rear brakes.both rear brake lines were replaced at that time.currently, the rotors need to be replaced or regrounded.the contact stated that the rotors were replaced just before the failure occurred.mazda was unhelpful with explaining the cause of the failure.the contact believes that a recall should be issued so that the failure does not recur in two years.the failure mileage was 90,000 and current mileage was 95,000.
I was having my brakes replaced by my boyfriend.he was using the jack to raise the vehicle up to take the tire off to change the brakes.he raised the vehicle, removed the tire and then without warning the jack collapsed and bent.the vehicle fell to the concrete.luckily he wasn't under the vehicle at the time or he would have been killed.
Brake rotor failure (original equipment) on a vehicle with a little over 60k miles.rear routers found not only unable to be "turned", but were advised needed to be replaced for safety reasons.was advised that front routers were also wearing exceptionally fast.i live in a mostly flat part of the country and drive mostly highway miles.
I am a teacher. I was on my way to work. I put my foot on the gas peddle and it was stuck. I quickly pushed the break, put the car in neutral and was able to pull over. I remember hearing about this with toyotas so i pulled up my carpet thinking it might be that. I started back on my way to work and the peddle was not stuck at this point but still"sticky". I realized it was not the carpet at all, the pedal was the issue! after work i was trying to pull out of my parked spot. I came home and found that many people had this same problem (the ford escape is the same as my car) their gas peddle gets stuck!!! this is horrible, common, and dangerous.
The back brakes were inspected and they were worn down to 5% versus the front brakes still having over 50% left.the car only has 39k miles.the back brakes and rotors had to be replaced - not sure if this is going to correct the problem as we were told by the mechanic that it is unusual to replace the back brakes and rotors before the front.
Brake failure, brake pedal goes down to the floor. Happened out of no were. Brake pads and drums are in good shape do not need to be replaced. Replaced master cylinder and left wheel cylinder due to bleeder broker. Neither of these have resolved problem. Vehicle still not repaired issue unknown.
Power steering suddenly failed as i was leaving our driveway onto the street. No warning at all of any problem - car had just been inspected by two auto shops last week and no steering problems noted.steering was still possible but very, very hard to turn wheel - took all my strength to try to turn.impossible to drive it now. Car has 127,500 miles.
Purchased the vehicle on 4/7/06 and on 4/8/06 i observed the following conditions. Vehicle produces a noticeable whining/humming noise and vibration that is felt through the steering wheel during the following situations: 1) when the car is initially started, 2)when the gas pedal is slightly pressedwhile the gear is in thepark position 3) when the vehicle is coming to a stop with or without pushing on the brakes, 4) when the steering wheel is turned either to the left or right.upon noticing noise and vibration, i took it to back to the dealer on 4/10/06.i was told to bring the vehicle to the dealer at 8:30 a.m on 4/11/06.at 3:30 on 4/11/06, the dealer contacted me and said that the tech noticed the noise and vibration but did not know what caused it.dealer tested another vehicle of the same make and model and said that both vehicles were making the same noise and that it was just probably normal engine noise. Upon arriving at the dealership, the tech took me to another vehicle and we listened to the engine.i indicated to the tech that the test vehicle was not behaving similarly as my vehicle and so i was referred to the asst. Service manager.the asst. Service manager tested the vehicle and said that he thought the noise was not normal and that he could feel the vibration from the engine to the steering wheel. He said that there might be some grinding occurring when the engine was throttling down but that he could not tell precisely the cause of the noise or vibration and that he would contact mazda engineers to see if the noise and vibration were inherent to the vehicle.on 4/12/06, the asst. Service manager contacted me and said that he called the mazda hotline and that there were no incidents of noise or vibration reported.he said that he could not find any reason for the noise and that it must just be normal engine noise caused by the vehicles power steering.

Drivers side rear shock broke completely away from frame. (top side). Passenger side rear wheel well is rusting away badly.
I heard a banging sound coming from the back of my vehicle only to discover that the passenger right side wheel well had completely rusted away and the rear suspension was banging around, i could actually see the bed lining of the vehicle scary when your driving around a 3 year old! i brought to a frame shop and was quoted $2500 for repair and basically told to scrap the vehicle (very disconcerting when there are only 140,000 miles on it),. After researching it sounds like this is a very common problem in this vehicle and i am hoping that it is addressed with a recall. I did end up finding an auto body repair shop to complete the repairs for $800 who told me he is seeing many drivers with this exact issue with this type of vehicle. After taking the back end off he said that the other side is about to go as well. I am now stuck in an ethical dilemma do i sell to another party to get my money back on a down payment for another vehicle or do i junk this vehicle that is unsafe and take the loss so that this doesn't become someone else's problem. Thank you for any help you can give me with this issue!
The contact owns a 2006 mazda tribute. While driving at any speed, the vehicle made a rattling noise. A mechanic diagnosed that the rear passenger wheel well and the shock mount were extremely rusted. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified. The approximate failure mileage was 98,000.
Hear a loud banging sound from the rear passenger side wheel on my mazda tribute when driving approx 30 miles an hour on smooth road.took it to get the shock checked and was shown by the mechanic that the rear wheel well was completely rusted out and the shock was hanging
The rear right wheel well area where the shock absorber attaches to the frame of the vehicle busted out.it no longer holds the shock in place to absorb a bump. I was recently informed by a bodyshop person that there was a recall that i was not notified of. Would you let me know if this is true?
The contact owns a 2006 mazda tribute. While driving various speeds, an abnormal loud banging sound could be heard coming from the rear passenger side of the vehicle. While driving to work i started to hear a banging sound from the back of my vehicle. It sounded like the back window was open & banging every time i hit a bump. I pulled over and made sure everything was shut. I proceeded to work but the banging persisted.when i got to work i checked the back compartment & removed my cargo incase that was culprit. On my drive home the banging still persisted.my husband looked at the vehicle and said that the shocks/struts were blown.i took it to the garage that night & it turns out that the passenger side rear wheel well was completely rusted through & there was no where for the shock to mount. When the mechanic pulled up my cargo mat in the back it is amazing that nothing fell out, the size of the hole from the rust is comparable to the size of a basketball.welding is not even an option to repair this damage.there is no other rust or body damage to my vehicle.there was a protective coating on the inner wheel well to prevent this.the driver side is fine and is showing no sign of rust/rot.while searching the web for support i see this is a very common problem in the ford escape and mazda tribute (virtually one in the same).when will something be done about this costlyproblem? as a side note, this car has been a problem since i bought it in 2006. I filed a magnus and moss warranty act suit against mazda and won for numerous issues regarding the transmission and power train system.
Because of the rear end making loud noise and vibration upon contacting roadbumps and holes vehicle taken to repair shop where inspection revealed significant deterioration of the metal forming the rear passenger side wheel well, oxidation (rust) to the extent of large hole exposing interior department.replacement of the rear shocks did not correct the vibrations from road irregularities. Mechanic described the cause as a result of the wheel well loss of metal & change in shape enabling metal to metal contact.structural integrity duration is of much concern.
There was constant knocking from the rear of the vehicle and i took the suv to dealer. The dealer says "the right rear strut is not connected to the body of the car. There is heavy rust and this is not a safe condition to try the car". Over the weekend, the shock mount bracket completely fell off. It doesn't seems to be a good design originally to use the sheet metal of the fender well as the connection point, without extra measure to secure the shock to the body. It is a defect.

Wheel well on right passenger side has completely rusted out.
Experiencing same issues with the front subframe/engine cradle as indicated in the 2001-2004 mazda tribute/ford escape recall. This is a 2006, with the same exact issue of the subframe rusting out and breaking on the passenger side. This is absolutely insane! the recall should have included 2005 and 2006 vehicles as well! i'm looking at thousands of dollars to have a subframe put in and the rest of my vehicle is rust free, so you can obviously tell i take good care to wash the underneath of the vehicle!
Not sure, but think there is a leak at the transfer case. It smells when sitting for a few moments, there is no oil leaks.

While driving on the highway i hit a bump.after this bump there was a loud banging sound from the rear of my car when i ran over any other bumps in the road.upon inspecting the sound i discovered that my passenger side rear suspension had rusted completely away from the inner wheelhouse where the suspension was wielded to.

Last night 01/11/2018, i was driving home and my airbag light came on. This morning my gas pedal was sticking, and it was hard to drive/go. Once i reached the main street, it was hard to accelerate. Now the airbag light won't go off.
My gas pedal is sticking intermittently.according to my internet search, the v6's for this model was recalled, but not the 4 cylinder version i have.i have to believe it is a similar problem.i just want it to get fixed as it is a safety issue.either it is going to get stuck in the full speed mode or not let me change out of a 2 miles and hour mode.
When cold, gas pedal will not depress. Becomes firm and resistant to pressure. Have to slam on pedal, but receive no power from engine---happens alot when trying to turn corners, will not accelerate- can cause severe if not fatal accident if this occurs at the wrong time. Please force mazda to issue recall for this part, could be related to throttle body as well..

Throttle sticks at idle until engine warms up
The contact owns a 2006 mazda tribute.

Gas pedal on 2006 mazda tribute sticks.sometimes you press and nothing happens and then it will take off at a high rate of speed.i have had several near misses with other vehicles in front of me due to this.i had the gas pedal replaced once under warranty less than 2 years ago (march 2008) and now have the problem again but mazda told me that they will not replace it again unless i pay for it even though it's a recurring problem.i think this has to be a design issue given the recurrence but mazda won't take responsibility for it and in fact demands payment even to attempt to diagnose the problem.
My gas pedal sticks when my vehicle gets cold.i purchased this vehicle about a year ago used and when the temperature dropped the gas pedal would stick.i would be in traffic and the vehicle would go nowhere when pressing the gas pedal. This has occurred many times. They said there is a recall on the 2006 but 6 cy, i have a 4 cy that the same problem is occurring.i would like to have this vehicle included in the recall as well, because apparently it is happening to the 4 cy as well.

I own a 2006 mazda tribute 4 cylinder. When the weather changes and it gets to be about 40 degrees or lower my gas pedal sticks! i am unable to press the pedal down. This is very scary and i believe it can cause an accident especially when you areat a traffic light you are not sure if the gas pedal gonna work. Then when you press the gas after many times of trying and it finallyworks you accelerate to much and can hit the car in front of you.please check into this matter as i feel it is very important and can become a liability to mazda.
Accelerator sticks and will not allow you to press the gas pedal. This happened in traffic and had to idle off to the side of the road.
While attempting to accelerate, the gas pedal will get stuck in the upward position not allowing the car to accelerate.it has happened periodically throughout the duration of ownership, but has become more prominently in the recent year or so.the vehicle currently has approximately 107k miles but has occurred at much lower mileage.there has been no recall posted, but many others have shared concern.this is a huge safety risk especially when merging onto highways or accelerating in traffic.
The contact owns a 2006 mazda tribute. The contact stated thatthe accelerator pedal was stuck in the "up" position and it took a lot of effort to depress it. The failure occurred intermittently especially in cold weather conditions. The vehicle was taken to the dealer; however, they offered no assistance. The manufacturer was not notified. The current mileage was approximately 66,100. The failure mileage was approximately 60,000.updated 03/01/10the consumer stated the accelerator pedal gets stuck in th up position and required an extreme amount of force to depress. Updated 08/20/10
It is been happening more frequently, the gas pedal sticks and cannot be pressed down. Occured several times including some times wheni was driving. I have seen several complaints for the same issue.i'm worry about this, it could cause an accident. Something has to be done!!

I drive a 2006 mazda tribute.the vehicles gas pedal often gets "stuck" from a dead stop.the pedal is able to be moved but only after a significant amount of pressure is applied to the pedal.while pulling into my garage this occurred and i ended up running into my own trash can.the damage was minimal but this sticking occurs very frequently.traffic lights, stop lights, and pulling into my own garage all seem to be burdens because of this issue.it is mostly a problem during stop and go traffic because the vehicle must be forced to go faster than the operator wants it to go in order to move.this means that i am lunging towards vehicles in front of me instead of being able to gradually ease forward.i believe it is even further more a safety issue while in parking lots due to pedestrians.
The contact owns a 2006 mazda tribute. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the accelerator pedal was depressed and the vehicle failed to accelerate. The failure occurred on multiple occasions. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that the throttle body needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 180,000.
The contact owns a 2006 mazda tribute.the contact stated while driving approximately 60 mph attempting to accelerate, the accelerator pedal became stuck.the contact stated that it was very difficult to stop or slow the vehicle down and stated that the failure mainly occurs during cold weather.the failure recurred multiple times. The vehicle was taken to the dealer for a diagnosis and they were unable to locate problem.the manufacturer was notified of the failure and advised the contact that the vin was not included in recall nhtsa campaign number:12v357000 (engine and engine cooling, vehicle speed control).the approximate failure mileage was 80,000.
The contact owns a 2006 mazda tribute. The contact stated vehicle would suddenly accelerate without any warning. The failure occurred on seven separate occasions. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where the failure was unable to be diagnosed. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 10,000. The current mileage was 84,000.
I have a 2006 v4 mazda tribute. About 3 out of 5 times when i go to push the gas the pedal will get stuck, i have to then press very hardly on the gas and it will just take off very fast. If i was to ever need to move my car up just a tiny bit it could cause a huge issue. There is nothing i can really do to correct it, i've looked on the internet and seen other people having the same problems.
More frequently now the gas pedal sticks and cannot be pressed down after releasing it for a short period of time. It seems that the throttle cable gets locked in a single position and then cannot be moved without first allowing the vehicle to slow down to an unsafe speed or unless it is pressed really hard. I read there were similar recalls to other models of this vehicle but not mine.
I was yielding and went to accelerate to merge into traffic and the pedal got stuck i had to slam on brakes to get the car to slow down, when it didn't i started pumping the gas pedal and it came unstuck. Recently it has been sticking alot, when i first try to accelerate i push the pedal and it appears their is some sort of catch there i have to slam it down to get pedal to work often..i come to a stop and when i go to push the pedal it feels hard to push..i googled the problem and saw tons of recalls on this but when i called and gave them the vin number they said it wasn't included. I had it washed today and when the guy washing it brought it back he mentioned to me that the gas pedal kept sticking..he said i needed to have it checked out. I probably should have sooner but i never drove it...the first time it happened i thought that i just hit the pedal the wrong way but it has stuck over 10 times since then.
Gas pedal sticks making it hard to accelerate. Dangerous when in traffic and gas pedal will not move. Whether it is summer or winter trying to accelerate is becoming very dangerous when driving.
Thank you
While passing a slower vehicle on a two lane road, the mazda tribute's accelerator stuck.
The contact owns a 2006 mazda tribute. The contact stated that while driving approximately 3 mph pulling into a parking space, the engine rpms suddenly increased before the vehicle experienced unintended acceleration. The driver lost control and crash into a brick building. A police report was filed. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. There were no injuries. The contact was informed that the vehicle was not included in the nhtsa campaign number 12v357000 (engine and engine cooling, vehicle speed control). The failure mileage was 140,000.
The gas pedal sticks on a daily basis.
The contact owns a 2006 mazda tribute. While driving at 60 mph, the contact disengaged the cruise control and attempted to accelerate. The contact noticed that the accelerator pedal independently depressed. The vehicle was taken to a dealer but was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 129,592.
When cold, gas pedal will not depress. Becomes firm and resistant to pressure. Have to slam on pedal, but receive no power from engine---happens alot when trying to turn corners, will not accelerate- can cause severe if not fatal accident if this occurs at the wrong time.please force mazda to issue recall for this part, could be related to throttle body as well
The contact owns a 2006 mazda tribute. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds she noticed that the accelerator pedal would stick and the vehicle would accelerate to higher speeds.in order to stop the vehicle she would release her foot from the pedal and try to kick it until it returned to the normal position. The vehicle was inspected by a dealer who stated thatthey were unable to diagnose the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was unknown. The vin was unavailable.
The contact owns a 2006 mazda tribute. When the vehicle was started in the morning, the accelerator would not engage when the gear was in drive. Even after driving, when stopped at a light, the vehicle would not accelerate. The contact stated that the accelerator pedal was very difficult to depress. Occasionally, the pedal would respond normally when it was depressed on the right side. The vehicle was taken to a local mechanic where it could not be diagnosed. The failure recurred. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 127,000.
2006 mazda tribute gas pedal sticks in cold weather to the point where the car will no go anywhere. I always warm my car up however, nothing prevents this from happening and i am worried that if i stop in traffic and start i will be in a major accident.
My gas pedal gets stuck whether it is cold or warm.this has been happening since 2007.i was told that it was due to carbon buildup and that a fuel injection cleaning was needed.my throttle bottle was replaced also.for the past several months, my pedal has been sticking again.this is quite dangerous since i cannot move forward at a light when it turns green and i cannot accelerate when already driving.i see that many people have reported the same issue to the nhtsa.i do not feel that i should have to replace my throttle body again within 2 years, especially if this is issue is widespread.please review this issue for a possible recall.
My accelerator has stuck on many occasions in this vehicle while driving, especially when cold. This has happened at various times on city streets and highways. I have never had an accident, but it does cause problems and could easily cause an accident. My vehicle is ten years old, but the mileage is only 75,500.
The contact owns a 2006 mazda tribute. While accelerating at 2 mph from a complete stop, the accelerator pedal became stuck and slowly returned to the idle position. The failure only occurredwhen minimal pressure was applied to the accelerator pedal. There were no recalls for the failure and the manufacturer had not been contacted. The failure mileage was 54,000 and the current mileage was 56,054. The vin was not accepted.
- the contact stated that while driving the2006 mazda tribute at 45 mph the vehicle accelerated without pressing the gas pedal.at the first incident the vehicle lurched forward, but she stopped the vehicle by applying the brake.during the second incident, the contact applied the brakes and nothing happened.the emergency brake was pulled up and the vehicle revved.while the vehicle was still running the contact stopped the vehicle by shifting the transmission into park and turning the ignition switch to the off position. Returned usps, 2nd attempt made 02/27/07 failed. *lj

2006 mazda tribute, rear window exploded out on its own.blow glass out 4 feet from vehicle.
2006 mazda tribute ,right rear wheel well rusted away, leaving shock floating and banging aroundin wheel wellfirst noticed in june 2015
Cpsc: mazda tribute: consumer stated right rear wheel rusted away leaving the shock floating and banging around in the wheel well.. *ss
