Hello. How are you? i hope everything is going well for you.i am an owner of 2005 mazda rx8. I was a faculty of one university at texas by 2016. However, i left usa last fall and currently settled down in korea. I also took my car (2005 mazda rx8) from usa to korea.in terms of safety recall notices, i asked mazda usa to solve two safety recall issues (mazda recall #: 1017e—fuel tank leak as well as 9416e—takata recall) for my car. Unfortunately, there are no mazda dealer shops in korea, so i asked to mazda usa to send the parts via the mail to replace bad parts for my car. However, they rejected my requests and they said only mazda (certified) mechanic should complete the repairs.i am wondering if i can solve these serious safety recall issues. Am i not a customer of mazda because im not staying in the us anymore? should i just wait and see my car results in fire and serious damage from takata airbag? virtually, my mazda rx8 has currently fuel tank leaking issue (please see the attached photo).i realize that my request may be an imposition given your other commitments, but i would appreciate it very much if you can help me solve these two safety recall issues. Although im not staying in the us anymore, i still believe im a customer of mazda. If you need more information, i would be glad to provide more information (e.g., my auto insurance records in the us, etc.).im looking forward to getting your attention. Thank you so much.

The contact owned a 2005 mazda rx-8. While driving approximately 35 mph, the contact veered to the left to avoid hitting a deer. As a result, the contact crashed into a tree. The air bags failed to deploy. The driver did not sustain any injuries. A police report was not filed. The vehicle was destroyed. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was unknown.

Takata recall. The contact owns a 2005 mazda rx-8. The contact received notification of nhtsa campaign numbers: 15v345000 (air bags) and 15v382000 (air bags). The contact called the dealer for several months and went to the dealer twice, but the parts were not available to receive the recall repair .the manufacturer was unable to provide a specific date that the parts would be supplied to the dealer. The contact was not experiencing a failure. Parts distribution disconnect.

The passenger side air bag door, part number fey157k5x, has become brittle and is cracked where the airbag deploys. This creates a hazard as the brittle pieces of vinyl will become projectiles in the event of airbag deployment. This is clearly the fault of the manufacturer and should be remedied.

Driver was backing out of a parking space when an extremely loud pop sounded resembling a backfire or the explosion of an aerosol can. After pulling back into the space, a further inspection of the noise revealed a malfunction with the rear passenger seat airbag. The door panel has been knocked askew resulting in a back door that will not open. The front seat passenger seat belt was jerked tight and remains completely locked up. Had a passenger been sitting in the front seat, the tightening of the belt upon the malfunction of the airbag would have resulted in injury. The other airbags are of great concern at this point because if there is another malfunction when the car is in motion on the road, serious injury would occur. The airbag indicator light continues to either blink or remain constantly lit. The problem has not yet been addressed with the dealer as i'm guessing it will be very costly to fix.

Takata recall. The contact owns a 2005 mazda rx-8. The contact received notification of nhtsa campaign numbers: 15v382000 (air bags) and 16v793000 (fuel system, gasoline). The parts needed for the repair were not available. The contact stated that the manufacturer exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue. The contact had not experienced a failure. Vin tool confirms parts not available and parts distribution disconnect.updated 04/19/17 *lj

Clutch pedal keeps braking every 20,000 miles. :-/this is the 4rth replacement i am looking at, currently is braking gradually. Air bags sensors keep failing every 30,000 miles and passenger airbag is cracking.

Airbag is causing cracks in my passenger side dashboard

Vehicle taken to anderson of crystal lake 60039 to repair the defect via recall campaign 16v-354. They did not install the replacement air properly causing the dash to crack, the new air bags safety is jeopardized due to improper installation,

The contact owned a 2005 mazda rx-8. While driving 55 mph, the vehicle was involved in a front end collision. The air bags did not deploy. There were no warning indicators illuminated. The vehicle was towed to the junk yard. A police report was filed.the contact received medical attention and suffered injuries to the head, pelvic, and ribs. The dealer and manufacturer were not made aware of the failure. The vehicle was totaled and was not diagnosed. The failure mileage was 150,000.

I've received several notices that my airbags need fixed, and most recently that i shouldn't have passengers in the front, but every notice states parts are not available at this time.

Takata recall. The contact owns a 2005 mazda rx-8. The contact received notification of nhtsa campaign number: 16v354000 (air bags) and stated that the part was not available within a reasonable time frame to schedule the recall repair. The dealer did not give a specific date for when the part would become available so the contact was unable to determine when the vehicle would be repaired. The dealer indicated that the parts may become available the fourth quarter of 2017. The manufacturer could not provide an estimated date for when the contact's vehicle would receive the recall repair. The contact was not experiencing a failure. Vin tool confirms parts not available.

Airbags failed to deploy after front and side impact accident resulting in significant damage (vehicle might be totaled).speed at impact was approximately 40 to 60 mpg resulting in injury to driver and passenger.

The contact owns a 2005 mazda rx-8. The contact stated that nhtsa campaign number: 14v773000 (air bags) had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for repair. The dealer stated the parts were not available for the recall repair. The manufacturer was made aware of the delay. In addition, the air bag warning light illuminated. The vin was not included in nhtsa campaign number: 14v344000 (air bags). The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The failure mileage was 75,000.

There is a material defect with the dash panel over the passenger air bag, now with the weather getting colder there are cracks in the dash panel and every morning the cracks get longer or new ones start. With the way it's cracking if the air bag deploys the panel will not just split open but may could up throwing chunks of plastic at the occupants. Contacted mazda directly but since she didn't see any bulletins or recalls for this issue she pretty much didn't care. I wish more people would file complaints because i have seen this problem in almost all other rx8's i've been in.

Takata inflators: nhtsa recall # 17v-011 has not been repairedfuel pump faulty: nhtsa recall # 16v-793 has not been repaired

Airbags failed to deploy after front and side impact accident resulting in significant damage (vehicle might be totaled).speed at impact was approximately 40 to 60 mpg resulting in injury to driver and passenger.

Had an incident today where my rx-8 had been t-boned at an intersection. My side curtain airbags did not deploy though. I hit my head against the interior doorwell and have a bit of whip-lash. They hit the side of the vehicle hard enough to make it so my door doesn't open any longer and in-fact it's pushed up a bit from where it is suppose to sit. The other vehicle was a 1996 geo metro.

Airbags failed to deploy after front and side impact accident resulting in significant damage (vehicle might be totaled).speed at impact was approximately 40 to 60 mpg resulting in injury to driver and passenger.

Failure of clutch pedal assembly. A plastic plate cracked and caused an irritating plastic binding noise, ever time i released the clutch pedal. This apparently happens a lot, sometimes it is fixable but in my case i had to replace my entire assembly, as i was told if it completely cracked i would lose the function of my clutch pedal.failure of the passenger side power lock actuator. I have read many accounts of this part failing. Usually blamed on hot or cold claimant, however mine just failed earlier this week, with weather in the mid 40's. Just from the amount of postings i found when this happened to me it needs to be reported.

Dt*: the contact stated on three occasions the vehicle would not start.it was towed to the dealer each time where the battery and the starter were replaced, but the problem recurred.

The mazda rx-8 is having an issue that is coming up more frequently now from a faulty a/c switch or heating system failure. The heat does not come into the vehicle when the heat is turned on and only cold air comes into vehicle. The failure happens in the beginning only randomly until the unit completely fails. The a/c modular is a electronic switch that changes vents and a/c or heat. The vent mechanism still functions but the heat is never transferred into the vehicle. The consequences from this item failing, especially in the winter time, the windshield cannot be defrosted and driving down the road way human exhaustion will cause the window fog up impairing driver's vision. As well as cold temperatures within the vehicle that do not suffice while driving in cold weather.

I'm going in today for the third time because my ac continues to make a noise when the fan is blowing.i cant even begin to list all of the problems i've had with this car. Just to name a few i'm on my second engine, new brakes, battery and tires before 40k miles and i was told by three different shops that something is really wrong with the brakes but mazda claims other wise. I've had a two new radiators and my driver window went out along with everything else from the visor falling off during the hot summer because it just melted. How does a "sun visor" melt. I've had the shifting paddles replaced because they just didn't work and i don't even really use them, the gas cap lock broke and i had to pry it open since the eject no longer worked... I think you get the point and i didn't even mention some of the bi items. I've never had so many problems with a car in my life. I cant wait until i can sell it or maybe ill get lucky and it will implode. It wouldn't surprise me at this point. This car is junk!!! i'm going back to honda.

Dt*:the contact stated while driving at 70mph, the anti-skid and check engine lamps illuminated.after the lamps illuminated, the vehicle's engine revved and the vehicle lost power.the speed decreased from 70mph to 15mph within 8 seconds.the vehicle was pulled off the road, were the ignition was turned off and restarted.the vehicle restarted with ease, but the engine still revved high and the lamps remained illuminated.the vehicle was towed to the local dealership.diagnostic testing was completed on the vehicle however the dealer was not able to determine the exact cause.the dealership personnel suggested the electrical system was defective.the vehicle remains at the dealership were additional testing is underway.

I had many recalls done last year. Now, today, oliver at mazda corporate said that joe machens dealerships aren't equipped to have done the work properly. Recalls: 16v793, 17v-354 & 355, front end stearing from inappropriate caulking of ball joint , engine replaced twice, oil mixing with coolant, again, and now my alarm goes off as soon as i start it. Joe machens told me to remove the battery. A new lithium battery is being developed by mazda because rotary engines can't use a regular battery.they had my car for six weeks last year, august, and kept yelling that they didn't have the new, correct parts. My stearing is difficult at times and they never told me about the recall concerning this. The seals deteriorated making issues. Now they are making new gaskets, rings, etc. To be heat resistant. They are fighting me, again, while they have admitted my car needs proper fixing with proper parts from inappropriate work done last year. One corporate worker said maybe a new engine should have been done with proper parts. Yet not at a dealership, at a mechanical shop that knows how to work on rotory engines.my car was parked in my lot. I had my oil checked to have fluids changed with valvoline because of their offer for 150,000 miles on engine if using their oil. I couldn't go forward with this because of the same issues . Oil foamy, alarm goes off, faulty light they knew about also. It worked before they did recall work on it. It is not safe for fire hazard, stearing difficulty, goes through a lot of oil since they worked on it. Ignition switch recall they never did. Were supposed to contact me when parts arrived. I will need to fax you paperwork. Many pages. Also shows how they x'd out one recall concerning gaskets. I couldn't check the boxes as i wished to report.

**resubmit-didn't go through** i was driving approx 65 mph on the freeway and felt a kick/jolt and had a loss of power. My speed went down10-15 mph and although i tried to accelerate it wouldn't do anything. I pulled over to the shoulder and tried to exit but car refused to go into gear. Every time i forced it into gear, the car would constantly stall and die. I had the ignition coil and spark plug replaced but now the clutch just sinks to the floor. I've tried to pump the clutch to get it into gear but this is quite dangerous on the road. My vehicle has trouble controlling its speed since there's a lag switching from 3rd to 4th, 5th to 6th since i have to pump my sunken clutch several times and fiddle with the shifter to actually kick my car into the next gear. My car is now over 100k miles and just read about the mazda rx8 clutch pedal recall online. This malfunction/safety issue was never announced professionally by my dealer. Mazda had no problems contacting me via phone, email ,mail regarding bills but for some reason failed to give me a notice regarding this defect. I've been advised that repairing this problem is quite expensive and since my car although less than 8 years old has passed the extended warranty based on mileage, i'll be stuck driving this car without proper repairs? i feel mazda should've contacted all rx8 owners to reduce the number any future disasters. Would there be any chance to extend the warranty for the clutch pedal based on mileage over 120k? i can't afford to purchase a new car at this moment but need to still commute to work without paying for repairs that would cost me an arm and a leg at the dealer? if this is a recall issue, i would feel more safe having an authorized dealer inspect the problem rather than a cheap auto shop that isn't fully aware of specific details.

I purchased a used 2005 mazda rx-8 from a dealer. Signed a warranty although there werenot a buyers guide or a used car sticker displayed anywhere on the vehicle. The vehicle originally belonged to mazda bommarito as evidenced by the faded residual imprint of the bommarito lettering that had beem removed likely dueto being unwanted inventory. I knew ahead of time that this particular vehicle has a rotary engine that requires standard maintenance and care which i have been performing and documenting along with all recalls. These include- let the engine warm up, regularly topped off all fluids decarbed and cleaned sensors etc internal maintenance care/break in period and replaced spark plugs/ leads with factory genuine oem first hand. After owning it less than a year, with only 50k miles on it, it began to run very poorly. I had the vehicle diagnosed and have documentation and records of work from several independent mechanics, shops and official mazda dealership(bommarito where it was originally transported from to the neighboring dealer) im paying$8,000 for at it and drove it for less than a year and in spite of regular upkeepit lost compression in its rear rotor. Ii have the extended warranty notice from mazda that covers rotary engine core replacements. However since its "used" it might not be covered by my stateslemon law. There are 1000's of owners dealing with the same issues on behalf of mazda.i mailed the subsequent ownership notification to the mazda importer to transfer the records of the previous owners on a lease purchase which i have documentation of although the dealer would not give me any info about the coupeshistroy whichseems dishonest.. The dealership is not entirely atfault. Mazda is too. Have all this in paperwork. I am awaiting a return notice from mazda about transfer of warranty from the previous owner(s) documents are below.

I went to start my rx8 and it would not start. I called aaa to have it jumped, thinking it was a battery problem. The aaa employee sent to jump the car could not jump it and i had to tow it to my mechanic the next day. My personal mechanic looked at it and said it was a specific problem with the engine that was covered by an "extended warranty" mazda issued because the 2005 rx8s had so many complaints about this particular problem. Instead of doing a recall, mazda does extended warranties. They did the same thing with the clutch pedal bracket, which i had to jump through hoops to get the dealership to take care of it at no cost to me. They always want to charge, even when it is something covered by a warranty.so, my husband had the car towed to the nearby dealership. Automatically, they tell us we have to replace the battery because they need to do a diagnostic test to find out the problem. Battery $185 with labor and $150 for a diagnostic test. Then, we are told that only if they are able to prove that it was a specific problem covered in the warranty that mazda would cover it under the warranty. If they find it is not that specific part, we will have to pay out of pocket.i was told by my personal mechanic it was that particular issue which is covered by the warranty, but of course, mazda wants to do their own tests. My car has less than 50,000 miles on it and it is ridiculous that i would have to replace the engine for $4,000 when a quick online search shows that this is a very common problem with this specific car. I think mazda should have their feet held to the fire and do right by their customer.

There is a flaw in the mazda rx8 engine. It is why they stopped making them in 2011. The engines have bad apex seals. As a result - the seals blow around 70 thousand miles and the engine is useless. Mazda replaced my engine in 2011. However - it does not solve the problem. The engine still shuts down in traffic. This is extremely dangerous. When you are coming to a stop or slowing down the engine will just shut off. It has also shut off when i attempted to pass in the left lane while accelerating on the highway. It also has something called a hot non-start - this means - it will not start when the engine is hot. You have to wait 20 minutes for the car to cool before it can start. If there is no emergency lane when your car shuts down - you are in trouble and in a very dangerous situation,. I have been stuck numerous times in traffic and then the car unable to start. Also as a result of this hot non-start- you have to fuel your car with it running or you will have to sit and wait at the gas pump for 20 minutes before it can start. This has occurred before they replaced my engine from 2009 thru 2011 and now with a new engine from 2012 thru 2015 they also need to be investigated for fraud. I leased my car for 3 years. I then purchased it and financed it for 5 years in 2008. Mazda knew these engines were flawed - but they were still selling them to people when this engine issue has been around since 2005. The car is dangerous to drive. Also - the apex seals can blow when you are driving the which means the car will shut down in traffic as well. I am not alone - search mazda rx8 engine issues on google - everyone has the problem.

My steering wheel is turning to the left on its own and it is difficult to turn to the right. I have researched online and i'm not the only one having the problem. I don't feel safe driving my vehicle and i am disappointed in the quality of parts.issue 2: after the first recall on my vehicle, my motor is giving me issues again after being replaced 40,000 miles later. It turns off at idle and has problems starting. I fear this might be a safety issue.

The external oil lines and connection fittings for the rotory engine lubrication points and cooling have corroded away form road salt in minnesota. Driving causes engine oil to be sprayed on front wheel and brakes causing front brake failure and possible engine fire problems. The corrosion was so bad that each attempt to fix an oil leak ended up braking more corroded oil fittings off. The total repair in 2017 ended being over $1,000 dollars for just parts plus labor. Mazda has previously paid to fix all mazda rx-8s sold to people in canada because of road salt corrosion failures of these same oil lines. Why doesn't the usa have consumer protection like canadian citizens have!i paid a repair shop by me $1,037.81 for the repairs. The mechanic lost about another $1,000 in after market fittings and hoses plus time, but each fix broke more fittings. He finally bought all new factory parts and sold them to me for cost and only charged us for about 2 hours labor. Tony beck,s auto repair in pineisland mn just couldn't charge anyone what it really cost him.us rx-8 owners are getting screwed by you not recalling this oil line failure problem. These oil lines and fittings go all around the outside of the engine and are high pressure 1/2 inch id hydraulic lines. How can oil spraying front disc brakes and engine compartment not be a safety issue! steve w. From minnesota, we have lots of road salt just like canada, that's why the i-35 bridge fell down. Not safe to drive with these salt corrosion caused oil leaks! caused massive oil leaks that canallow engine

The clutch pedal bracket in my 2005 mazda rx-8 has broken and as a result is very difficult to change gears.

Oil cooler hoses rust out at fittings and leak oil uncontrollably. One search of any rx8 forum and you will find all years are effected.

The contact owns a 2005 mazda rx8. The contact stated that the oil coolant line exploded and spilled oil onto the brakes. As a result, the braking distance and time was increased greatly. The contact also stated that it was difficult to stop the vehicle. The contact stated that there was no warning prior to the failure. The contact stated that there was a metal piece that became fractured. The contact spoke with the manufacturer and was told that there was no warranty or recall for the part. The vin was not available. The failure and the current mileage was 91,239.

I believe safety and emissionsrecall 0516j is causing my car to turn off while in motion, it can be in neutral or in gear.i called mazda corp and told them the vehicle turns off while in motion and believe it's cause by the recall; they said that they do not have a solution at the moment and did not suggest anything but wait. This is a daily driving car and i can not afford to call out of work because of the safety of this vehicle. I would suggest a courtesy vehicle while this recall is being fixed.

The contact owns a 2005 mazda rx-8. The contact stated the ehicle stalled when the rpms increased to approximately 1000. The contact stated the check engine light came on and the vehicle stalled. Several dealers were notified; however, the contact was unable have the failure diagnosed. The failure mileage was 62,000. The current mileage was 64,000.

Driving the car it cuts off and rolls backwards and could possible hit another car.was told that service center change maintenance schedule on the car an would not cover a repair like this under warranty due to my neglect of not knowing the new schedule they made up.and because i followed my owners manual that the repair would not be covered.i feel that these cars should be recalled and have the problem fixed to why the cut off this is a danger to anyone who is driving to have a car cut off an roll backwards.my 16 year old daughter drives this car.

Oil cooler metal hoses have corroded due to road salt and driving in snowy areas (massachusetts). There is a recall in canada (special service program 76) for the mazda rx8 due to oil cooler lines getting corroded. Weather in the northern states of united states is similar - i don't know why that is also not a problem for us and there is no recall in the usa.the rest of the car seems corrosion free and the car was washed every week in the winter and about once a month in the summer, specifically to get rid of road salt. Dealer charge with parts and labor to replace the oil lines is $2100 !!car has 68,000 miles on it and is a 2005 model. My guess is the oil cooler lines were made of a bad material if they are corroding so easily while nothing else corrodes.

My 2005 rx8 continually leaked oil to the point of the engine oil light coming on.since rx8's consume oil in the combustion process, at first this seemed somewhat normal.after a few days of adding oil only to have the light come back on, i took my car to the dealer.the mechanic brought me out to the car to show me that the oil cooling lines had been rusted out and as he put it "were spraying oil".aside from the fact that mazda used parts that don't resist corrosion, this is a safety issue as the lines were literally spraying oil and had the potential to spray oil onto the wheels/brakes creating a hazardous situation.mazda is now charging an exorbitant amount to repair something that shouldn't be occurring in the first place.this exact problem has led to a recall in canada, but mazda claims there aren't enough occurrences in the usa.that does not sit well with owners who commonly have this problem of which there are many that i have encountered on the internet.

The contact owns a 2005 mazda rx-8.the vehicle has been taken to the dealer ten times.while driving 35 mph, the vehicle stalled and the check engine light illuminated.the vehicle also makes a popping sound.while driving 35 to 70 mph, the contact experienced failure with the motor and stated that oil is seeping into the inlet tubes.the mechanic stated that she was using the wrong fuel and recommended burning it out.the mechanic also stated that the vehicle should not have over 60,000 miles.the contact was informed that this failure is normal and there is a defect in the motors and oil in the inlet tube.the repair cost would be $6,000 for a new motor.the manufacturer refused to assist the contact with the failure.the failure began three months after the vehicle was purchased.the field representative at mazda stated that he was unable to speak with the contact and referred her to someone at the mazda corporate office.the contact has invoices.the # of cylinders and current and failure mileages were unknown.

Vehicle engine loses power and stalls after driving at operating temperature in hot weather.failure symptoms are most noticeable after driving at highway speed, and will present as a significant loss of powerfollowed by stalling as the vehicle decelerates.manufacturer has extended the engine warranty to 100,000 miles and will de-carbon the engine and replace spark plugs when reported.however, this solution is not a permanent repair, and symptoms return upon driving within twelve months.

The contact owns a 2005 mazda rx8.theabs and traction control lightilluminated on 3 occasions.the check engine lightalso illuminated.the dealer repaired the check engine light 6 times.the failure mileage was 600.the current mileage was 6,000.

I have had so many problems with my 2005 mazda rx-8. Starting with cold air coming from heater. Now the biggest problem is my car needs a new catalytic converter and a new starter according to the mazda guys. If it's not one thing it's another with this car.

The contact owns a 2005 mazda rx8.while driving 10 mph, the contact stated that check engine warning light illuminated as the vehicle stalled.the dealer informed the contact that there were no related recalls and to bring the vehicle in for diagnostic testing.the manufacturer was aware of the failure.the vehicle was not repaired or inspected.the current mileage was 55,206 and the approximate failure mileage was 55,000.

The contact owns a 2005 mazda rx8.while driving 10 mph, the vehicle shut off without warning and was unable to be restarted.the vehicle was towed to the dealer and they stated that there was internal engine failure.the engine had low compression.the vehicle is currently being repaired, but the contact does not know who will pay for the repair costs.he is in the process of notifying the manufacturer.the failure mileage was 59,000 and current mileage was 61,000.

Oil cooler coupling severely rotted to the point of failure (hoses looked fine just the coupling areas).warranty will not cover parts and mazda has recalled in canada (special service #76), which is 30 miles from my home but will not do anything to help me in the states.repair cost is over $1300 for new lines.

The contact owns a 2005 mazda rx8.the contact noticed that the vehicle idles extremely roughly.he took the vehicle to the dealer in reference to nhtsa campaign id number 05v317000 (engine and engine cooling).a technician stated that because his vehicle exceeded its warranty, the contact would have to assume financial responsibility for the repair.the vehicle has not yet been repaired.the manufacturer did not assist.the failure and current mileages were 24,000.

I own a 2005 mazda rx8 with 35,000 miles on the car.it had to be taken to the dealership recently for a rough idle and hard start problem.after much costly investigation (costly to me 590$), it was found that my renesis engine is losing compression and could possibly fail at any moment.after contacting corporate hq about this problem the dealership tested the engine which passed by a minimal percent, just enough not to replace the engine under warranty.after some personal research on this matter, i've found hundreds of other rx8 owners having the same problem with little or no help from mazda other than replacing the damaged engine with the same model of faulty engine.reports from owners of engines dying in the middle of dangerous a intersections and such are very unsettling being an owner myself having the same problem.there have been owners that are now on their second and third engines as well with seemingly no end to the repairs.in my case, the dealership guaranteed that my engine would fail within six months so to "be careful" and "keep and eye on it".this is unacceptable.obviously there is something seriously wrong with these engines and i think they are unsafe.mazda has added an extended warranty to these engines for up to 100,000 miles but that does not solve the problem of these engines failing while in motion or in the middle of a busy intersection.it only replaces one burnt out bomb with a bomb with a new fuse.i seriously think this should fall under the "lemon-law" and i would like more to be done about this issue because it seems rx8 owners are being left without options here except to make lemonade from their 30,000$ lemon.me included.

Purchased a mazda rx8 2005, on 7-16-2006. Note vehicle was new only 159 miles on odometer. I purchased it from classic mazda in mentor ohio and they never advised me of open recall regarding possible fire from leaking fuel tank. Found out from another mazda dealer where vehicle sits at this time with mechanical issue. My families safety was compromised by greed of classic mazda by not informing us prior to sale of open safety recall.

My 2005 mazda rx8 is leaking oil fast.the mechanic told me my oil cooler hoses are rusted out.it will be $1000.00 to get this fixed.mazda issued a recall on this, but they say my vin# does not qualify.i think this is wrong and if cars only 5 years old are having the same issue it should be recalled.i am leaving a trail of oil everywhere i go and could run out of oil even with refilling and checking it everyday.this care was bought in chicago after being a demo dealer care in minnesota so it has been subject to a lot of road salt.

2005 rx-8 leaking oil cooler line faults breakscar veered off the road onto right side grass under heavy breaking due to suddenly slowing traffic. Normally, car breaks very well, linearly, and straight. After checking what caused this, i found the entire left underside sprayed with engine oil. Oil came from rusted engine cooler lines located right next to the front left wheel well. About a 10 second engine run showed a stream of oil spraying towards the tire through a crack in the rusted cooling line. Underbody, left front tire, and breaks were covered with oil. There was no collision only because the area where car was pulled off to the side had no obstacles. Lucky me! car is obviously not drivable as engine oil is visibly leaking and breaks are compromised with greasy oil residue.apparently canada has a recall for these faulty cooling lines - 'rx-8 oil cooler hose ' special service program (ssp) 76' ' seems utterly appropriate as in an unlucky situation this could turn out fatal!

2005 mazda rx-8. Consumer states rough running, stalling and flooding.*tgwthe consumer stated the vehicle became almost impossible to start.he took the vehicle to the dealer and was told there was carbon in the engine and performed it a compression test. It barely passed the test.the dealer informed the consumer there were a lot of defects in mazda rx-8 engines and that he would probably need a new engine in the future.the dealer replaced the battery and decarbed the engine.the vehicle has continued to idle roughly, stall and flood since the first visit to the dealership. Six months later when the consumer went to start the vehicle to warm it up, the engine light started to blink and the engine cut off.the vehicle was towed back to the dealership. They stated the engine needed to be decarbed again and the coils needed to be replaced.

Hi, i purchased my 2005 rx8 new in december of 2005. I have 38000 miles at present time. My vehicle has been towed three times due to stalling.i have had my vehicle in for all recalls and it has passed all test. I am still having problems with engine stalling while driving. My vehicle also back fires at times blowing black smoke from tail pipes. I have serious concerns over the safety of my vehicle due to the known fires caused by the rotary engine. I have phoned and visited many dealers to see if mazda has issued a buy back or trade due to issues with the rx8 and they have all replied with "sorry, but we can sell you a different mazda at retail". I have had my vehicle to the mazda repair shop so many times that i no longer even bother to take it in because i always get the same answer. I really just want my car fixed or something else to drive that is safe. I think mazda needs to recognize that there is a real safety issue and peoples lives are in danger. The issues with my car are so many that i do not like to drive it. Currently the check engine light stays on. Please feel free to contact me for further issues with this vehicle.

I have a 2005 mazda rx8, at 104,000 miles on the engine the compression went out.my warranty expired at 100,000 miles.i noticed other rx8 owners are having the same problem.i had a mazda rx7 which had over 170,000 miles before the engine gave up.

The engine has been replaced 2 times and now isn't starting again was towed again today.

I own a 2005 mazda rx8 6 speed. The vehicle has 14,000 miles.on 5/30/06 the engine began to stall, sputter and make a clicking noise at over 4500 rpm. I brought the vehicle into a nearby mazda dealer. I was told by service personnel that 4 other rx8's were currently in the shop due to the same problems. I was told that the problem is heat related and more prevalent in hot climates. Service personnel added that the ecu would need to be sent to mazda to be reflashed. If that did not cure the problem the motor may need to be replaced. I called a mazda dealer in las vegas in order to see if they were experiencing the same issues. They confirmed that they were. I confronted local management and asked if they were informing potential and/or new buyers about the motor problem. He stated no and added that he was not required to do so. The car was returned to me on 6/8/06 symptom free. On 6/12/06 the same problems returned and the car was returned to the dealer.

1) when summer season began my 2005 rx-8 with less than 20k miles started dying in the middle of traffic/traffic lights.then immediately after that incident whenon the interstate the car would not accelerate.2-3)car has been to dealership to replace coils - however if you look at automotive.com and read the posts from hundreds of rx-8 owners 90% of the posts have the same problem and live all over the u.s. Mazda keeps our vehicles for a day or two to replace this or replace that but in the end the engines need to be replaced.however, it is unknown if the replaced engine fixes the problem or if the problems start all over again.

2005 mazda rx8 quits running and will not restart -removed spark plugs cleaned and started-quit before got home same problem. Don't kill engine unless above 3000 rpm or engine is warm. Engine quitreplaced spark coil quit before got home was told catalytic converter defective and will damage muffler. Car was towed each time to mazda dealership. Now they claim needs new engine.

Dashboard over airbag began to crack over the airbag on 01/102010. As the months went on, it got much bigger. I have contact my local dealer and also mazda usa. They seem to dodge the whole thing, or say its just cosmetic.i'm afraid for my familys saftey, with the whole airbag maybe coming out.i'm glad that i have an extra warranty because so many things need to be replaced.

Most models of the 2005 rx-8 are equipped with hid headlights.in order to prevent accidents, the headlights have a "cutoff" that prevent blinding oncoming drivers, which i understand is required by law.the headlights on this vehicle have an autoleveling function which is supposed to level the headlights at the proper height dependent on the position of the car's suspension.the headlight levelers are controlled by two sensors, one on the drivers side front and one on the driver side rear wheel hub, connected to the suspension components.there is a known defect with these sensors which causes the headlight levelers to malfunction, aiming the headlights either too low (which can cause an accident in the rx-8) or too high (which can cause an accident by blinding oncoming traffic).there is an electrical connector located beneath the car at each sensor that moisture can get inside, causing corrosion.this causes the sensors to fail and the headlights will auto-aim themselves in any orientation, and this cannot be overridden...i know, i have tried repeatedly to manually re-aim them myself.manually resetting the headlights will only cause the headlights to mis-aim themselves again when the car is restarted and the sensors return faulty signals.currently, my headlights are aimed far too high for oncoming traffic and i routinely get "flashed" by other drivers.driving my car at night is unsafe for myself and other drivers due to this defect.as previously noted, this is a known issue and there have been apparently enough complaints about it that mazda has issued a technical bulletin on this defect, and the levelers have been re-engineered to use more heavy-duty connectors.i would urge the nhtsa to evaluate this issue and compel mazda to issue a recall for this defect asap.thanks for your attention!link to technical bulletin:http://www.finishlineperformance.com/pdf/rx8/bulletin/09-008-07-1729a.pdf.

Water leaks into the rear tail light assemblies. Corrosion affects the operation of the tail lights, turn and stop signals.mazdausa claims this is "normal".

I purchased an 05 mazda rx8 in jan of this year.several weeks ago, i was informed by other drivers that my driver's headlight causes them a distraction because it glows brighter, as if the high beam has come on.i have seen this myself when i drove another car in front of mine.i took the car into service at the local mazda dealer and was informed that the light is functioning properly because the other car on the lot does it also."i believe this issue needs to be looked into because it is a serious distraction and can cause an accident. From a driver looking back at the rx8 through the rear view mirror it looks as if someone is shining a spot light on them.this is adistraction that can lead to a vehicle accident.this is very serious and i can't seem to get anyone to look into this situation.if there is anyone you can suggest that i speak with, please let me know.

2005 mazda rx8 with fuel leak and gasoline fumes. Consumer states that she will not park the vehicle in the garage because of fear the house will catch fire. She states the fumes are heavy after fill ups.the consumer stated the gas leakage happened after each repair attempt.

As i'm driving my clutch pedal gets stuck when it hits the floor and wouldn't up back up on its own and i would have to use my foot to tap it under to go back up. Clutch pedal seems to be leaking oil also.also at times when i'm wanting to change gears the shift knob would grind gears.if i'm going at a fast speed it often keeps me from shifting to fifth gear and i would have to jump to sixth instead.

Fuel leak at gas tank area caused massive fire.

The fuel pump outlet pipe connector was leaking for sometime.it eventually caused startup problem in very hot weather.this leaked very slowly and all rx-8 should be recalled to replace the 12" flexible pipe/tubing with a reliable connector that does not leak. This connector must have been a issue, not a lot of cars used this since mid 2000.very hard to find replacement parts. And coupled with overheated cat emissions its a fire waiting to happen.

Mazda rx-8:car was parked at the top of a gradual slope, with parking brake firmly pulled up.no more than 5 minutes later, the car had backed up into bottom of a ditch.the car was given an estimate of over $15,000 worth of damage due to the faulty brake.witnesses at the scene confirm that the parking brake was set.

2 days before the incident the clutch made a clicking sound. I looked down and saw no problem. I was driving down the road and the car would not go into gear because the clutch pedal assembly had gave way. I was able to turn off the car and get it into 1st and had to drive home in 1st gear. I have been looking through forums online and this seems to be a very frequent occurrence. I also got a ticket for failure to yield and causing an accident 350.00 dollars. I called mazda and they even told me it was a common occurrence. Im working on the issue now but mazda wants 1150.00 dollars to fix a "common" problem. Its completely ridiculous. Ive counted over 150 different people who this has happened to but just got it fixed on mazda forums and other auto forums. Many of them caused accidents as well. I just dont want this to happen to someone and they get killed because of it.. It was the clutch pedal assembly.

I had just backed out of a driveway on to a side street about to pull on to a main highway, i had put my car into first gear and it did so fine and i was accelerating and went to shift into second gear and went to push in my clutchand i could not find it for a second it was stuck and pushed slightly behind my brake, so i just pulled my car into neutral and pulled off to the side of the road i had some breaking but not full braking. I found that the clutch pedal bracket had failed, a spot weld on the frame had broke and caused my clutch to move freely, this has never happened to me before, i will have to pay for a new part out of my pocket although i was doing research online and found this has happened alot on mazda rx8's.

As i was shifting into 4th gear, my clutch pedal mad an odd loud "cracking" sounds and ever since then, my pedal is very loose and has a lot of play and engages very low to the floor. It also has very little pressure now.

While driving at 50 mph and changing gears normally the clutch pedal assembly suffered a catastrophic breakage causing the cars transmission to become inoperable. Transmission had to be damaged to be forced into neutral to come to a stop. Clutch pedal had already previously been replaced in 2009 after identical incident occurred. Mazda north america has refused to honor a warranty replacement for the most recent incident.

The clutch pedal bracket on my '05 rx8 broke.it had been squeaking for some time but i did not recognize it was under an extended warranty.the left side spot weld failed and the mounting ear sheared off of the bracket.mazda na refused to apply the 100k mile warranty to my 106.8k mile car.

The clutch pedal assembly bracket breaks at the spotwelds which also breaks the clutch master cylinder and lukily this broke while starting the car

The steering wheel sometimes its hard to control sometimes its normal and when going fast the steering is so loose like there's a gaps that you need your two hands on the steering all time and the weels weigel at high speed 60mph.its hard drive the car on the freewayand everyday use i already spend $2800 at the dealership get fix but never get fix the car no accident to be like that. Car has 80k mileage

Driving my mazda rx8last night on a local highway shifting from fifth to sixth gear the clutch pedal gave way anddoing 65mph and stuck itself under the brake pedal had to shut the car off and hit the e brake to stop. Lucky im not dead.

Clutch pedal bracket broken under normal conditions. I went to push the clutch in to downshift at highway speeds to over take a slower vehicle and it snapped with an audible "pop"and i couldnt shift into the lower gear and my rpms, went to idle at highway speed. Had it broken at a different time, i could have been locked into a certain gear and ha to break fast or crash risking the lives of my occupants and the occupants of another vehicle

I was on my way to buy some food supplies for weekend. I was looking for a parking lot at low speed, so when i stepped onto the clutch pedal to put back to neutral and parked suddenly i heard a crack. At that time i did not know what it was until 30 minutes of shopping later, i started the engine and felt a little odd about the pedal clutch. The clutch pedal was function a little odd when i stepped into the pedal, i felt like it didn't release completely. Fortunately, i made a the way home and checked. When i got home and it snapped off.

Clutch bracket snapped while at stop sign. Unable to get car into gear.

As i was pressing my clutch pedal to place my car into first gear, i heard and felt a snap in the clutch.i then noticed that my clutch would not fully disengage and i had trouble placing my car into gears and out of them.once i arrived home i examined my clutch and noticed that the bracket had snapped.i contacted the mazda dealership and i was told my car was no longer covered by the warranty and i would have to replace the part out of pocket for a flaw that mazda created.

My rx8 2005 have a problem with the clutch. It some how broke and now i change change into gear. My car only have 46xxx mile on it so its shouldnt be breaking and also i read a lot of site saying other rx8 owner also having the same problem.

The clutch pedal bracket in my 2005 mazda rx-8 has broken and as a result is very difficult to change gears.

My clutch pedal on my 2005 mazda rx8 snapped while changing gears (3-4) on the freeway.last month there were noises coming from the clutch pedal [squeaking] and after the pedal snapped the pedal does not fully pop back all the way up. In order to get the pedal in the right position i have to get my foot under the pedal while driving in order to pull the pedal up in the right position. [every time i switch gears]in order to correct the failure [which was the weak welds on the clutch assembly snapped] i have to get it rewelded and add extra support welds.

The clutch would not allow a shift into gear, clutch pedal bracket assembly broke.

On my mazda 2005 rx8 the clutch pedal assembly broke while i was driving on the highway. Now i'm unable to put my car in reverse. At this point, it's barely drivable.

On my mazda 2005 rx8 the clutch pedal assembly broke while i was driving on the highway. Now i'm unable to put my car in reverse. At this point, it's barely drivable.

1.for a few weeks prior to the failure, i heard squeaking coming from the clutch pedal each time i used it.2.the clutch pedal bracket, which holds the clutch pedal to the body of the car, snapped off, rendering the clutch inoperable and the car unable to engage/change gears.3.the clutch bracket and clutch pedal had to be replaced with oem parts.

While driving normally 7/14/2010, the clutch bracket on my 2005 mazda rx-8 snapped, rendering the clutch pedal inoperable. There was no accident only because this happened in a parking lot and i was able to disengage gear and shift to neutral.

I have experienced the typical signs of a faulty clutch pedal. I have done research on the subject and i am experiencing the same issues as the people had before their clutch broke. This issue started around two months ago. The pedal squeaks very loud and has give from side to side as well as in and out. I have a 2005 mazda rx8, 6 speed manual transmission.

I bought a used mazda rx8 (2005 with about 60 thousand miles) with a manual transmission. After about 3 months of daily driving (no racing or hard shifting) my clutch pedal broke while approaching a red light. The bracket that holds the pedal in place broke due to its very thin metal design. Upon researching the issue online i have found that many rx-8 owners are having the same issue. I have installed a reinforced bracket at my own expense and still need to make some adjustments because it has unaligned the gears in the transmission. If this break would have occurred at any other time i believe it could easily result in serious injury or death. I spend a lot of time on the highway getting to school and i believe that at 65 mph this break would have at least destroyed the transmission. This issue needs to be resolved and a recall must be implemented.

I had my 2005 mazda rx-8 towed to the dealership and was told that my clutch pedal assembly was broken and was making it difficult to drive and shift gears, i believe it's a safety hazard and is poor workmanship. I've heard that this is very common on rx-8's that aftermarket companies are producing clutch pedal reinforcement kits. You know it's really a problem when aftermarket companies address and flaw in a product. Especially when it's part of the clutch and safety of the car. And it's not even covered under warranty, which is horrible. Not only did they produce a flimsy product, but now i have to pay to have it fixed.

I own a 2005 mazda rx-8 with 51xxx miles on it.driving home i stepped onto the clutch prion to a turn and snap!the car was locked in second gear and the clutch pedal was not returning to its normal position.only a few miles home, i realized the clutch pedal bracket broke on the left side around the bolt.it looks like it was cheaply made and poorly welded.i also got online and found out that this is a common problem.this could have been a lot worse if i was traveling at a higher speed and got locked in gear.i am taking the car to a dealership to replace the bracket.

The contact owns a 2005 mazda rx-8. While driving in stop and go traffic the bracket that holds the pedal in place broke and the clutch pedal fell to the floor. The vehicle was towed to the contacts residence. The vehicle was not inspected or repaired. The vin was not available. The failure and current mileages were 102000.

1. Driving on the freeway at about 50 mph exiting off a long off ramp.2. Clutch pedal broke. Pushed clutch in and heard a loud "crack!". Barely got the car into first gear and into a parking lot where it was doa and had to be towed. The pedal was bent and nearly stuck behind the brake pedal.3. No repair. Dealer asking $595 to repair. I can't afford it (i am unemployed and couldn't find a single job in a year and a half).

My mazda rx-8 has a manual transmission, and the clutch bracket just broke off for no special reason. It is to my understanding that under any circumstances these components should not break. Mazda did fix it for me. Funny thing is mazda tech line saids this is a *one time warranty repair* only. This clutch bracket problem is a very well known issue in the rx-8 community, but mazda just keep replacing broken brackets and wait for user's warranty period is over. I just do not understand what do mazda mean by "one time repair" only. What i concern now is that. What if the clutch bracket breaks when im driving on the highway at 50 miles an hour? it will not be funny and i might just die. Another thing is that, mazda always try to blame it on aftermarket parts for their own failure. There should be a lot of rx-8 user complaining about this clutch bracket issue. Please check.

The contact owns a 2005 mazda rx-8. The contact was driving approximately 15 mph attempting to make a turn. The gear selector was shifted into first gear and the clutch traveled to the floor. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic. The failure was contributed to the clutch assembly. The estimated cost to replace the clutch assembly was $390.00. The vehicle had not been repaired at the time of the complaint. The contact was in the process of notifying the manufacturer. The failure and current mileages were 63,400.updated 06/08/10. *ljupdated 09/28/10

I have a 2005 mazda rx8 and for the past 2 years the dealership has replaced my clutch pedal assembly 3 times because of a loud squeal when pressing the clutch pedal. My most recent visit they replaced it again.. The other night i was out with my girlfriend driving long distances and my pedal began to feel really strange and it didn't seem to want to shift properly.. I drop her off and i go home the next morning i wake up to clean my car and i back up and then move forward and my shifter is completely stuck! and the clutch pedal is literally touching the brake pedal..i tried to seei could still turn the car on and the pedal stuck to the floor as if there were no clutch fluid.. Fortunately we were not driving when this happened but this is a danger to many people who are driving manual transmissions.upon inspection the thins bracket that holds the assembly together was torn... The vehicle will be at the dealership for the next few days for repairs.. It has 49,600 miles approx.

I was driving my 2005 mazda rx-8 home, and after a normal drive home with no issues, i was going from 1st gear to 2nd near my house and the clutch pedal dropped to the floor, the clutch wouldn't release and i couldn't change gears.had this happened a dozen shifts earlier, i would have been caught in a highway merge, and my safety seriously endangered. Upon inspection when i managed to baby the car in 1st gear home, the clutch pedal had broken at the bracket.under no circumstances should a clutch pedal break.i had the car towed to the dealership, and fully expect replacement without charge, but based on what i've read, that's not going to happen, despite my extended bumper to bumper warranty.

I own a 2005 mazda rx8 with 30k miles. I noticed a squeaking noise when applying my clutch pedal approx a month ago. The other evening while i was attempting to pull onto a busy road the clutch made a loud popping noise when i applied the clutch and i was unable to put it into gear. Luckily i was able to roll back to a safe place and wait for a tow. Mazda informed me this is not a warranty item & i will be responsible to pay for the repair. I've read other complaints and this is a safety issue. Had i been able to pull into traffic and it broke, i would not of been able to shift which would have left me in a very unsafe situation. I'm very disappointed that mazda is not willing to replace this part w/o a charge. I think this should be looked into.

I drive a 2005 mazda rx-8 mt. It has around 73k miles. The clutch started squeaking couple of days back and yesterday when the traffic light turned green i engaged the clutch and i heard a snapping sound. I could not engage the gear later and had to get my car towed. I took it to the garage and i am told that the clutch bracket is broken.

The clutch pedal on my 2005 mazda rx-8 is extremely squeaky and seems to be on the verge of breaking. When pressed down upon, it squeaks and it also moves left and right more than it should. I have read dozens of other reports of the clutch pedal actually snapping and i am quite worried that my clutch pedal is close to breaking as well.

It started to click and squeak.i was driving through the intersection when the pedal bracket snapped when me and my children almost got hit by a coal truck because of this.i had to take it to my dads shop and weld it which i'm still unsure of how long it will last since the metal is thin and it is squeaking again.

While driving northbound on i-75 in downtown atlanta in stop-and-go traffic conditions, the clutch pedal in my 2005 mazda rx-8 suddenly made a cracking sound and fell to the floor.the clutch remained about 1" from the floor, allowing minimal disengagement of the transmission, sufficient to allow me to return the car to the dealer.the diagnosis was a broken clutch pedal, resulting in damage to the master cylinder.there had been some creaking at the top of the return of the clutch pedal over the past 2-3 weeks.

1. This seems to be a manufacturer defect and poor choice of materials for the clutch pedal assembly. 2. The car in question is a 2005 mazda rx8. The clutch pedal eventually had movement left-to-right and the welds on the pedal assembly broke. I was left unable to put the car in gear and had to tow the car to the dealership. 3. The entire clutch pedal assembly was replaced by a local mazda dealership under bumper-to-bumper warranty. However, they did clearly state that the exact same part was used to replace it. There have been no revisions to the welds and the clutch pedal started creaking again!

I've been hearing this squeaking sound coming from my clutch for the past few months. Approximately a month ago i was driving home when i felt/heard a popping sound. My clutch pedal was now almost to the floor. I assumed my clutch was gone but the car still drove home i was 1/2 mile from home. I drove slowly and carefully home. I had the car towed to mazda today and they informed me that my clutch bracket is broken. The estimate to replace this is roughly 500$.

My second incident on the same vehicle/part.i previously had the clutch pedal in my mazda rx-8 replaced because of a broken bracket.the replacement was an identical part with no redesigns.approximately 16 months later it broke yet again.same conditions, driving on the road, sudden loss of resistance and crunching sound from pedal, unable to shift properly.inspecting the vehicle after parking revealed that the exact same spot weld broke, leaving the bracket to move away from the firewall and not providing leverage for the clutch piston into the master cylinder.

Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6)around30 days ago i heard a "pop" sound when i depressed the clutch pedal of my 2005 mazda rx-8. It felt a little softer after the "pop" sound. I thought something had brokenbut could not see anything and the clutch seemed to work ok. However, over the next 30 days, it became harder and harder to get the manual transmission into reverse. On february 23, 2010, i brought my 2005 mazda rx-8 to congressional mazda in rockville, md to have my clutch inspected. The dealer informed me the clutch pedal assembly bracket was broken and needed to be replaced. The quote was over $500 so i said i wouldbring the car back in when i had the money. However, when i drove away i could not shift out of 1st gear and the car was not drivable.i immediately drove back to the dealer in 1st gear and asked them to order the part and replace the clutch pedal assembly bracket. When the clutch pedal assembly was replaced, the car shifted fine. I have the broken clutch pedal assembly and i can see clearly that the metal on one side of the mounting bolt has torn apart making it impossible to fully engage the clutch. That must have been the "pop" sound i heard. I have 77,000 miles on my rx-8.i drive the car to work, not on competitive or challenging tracks or courses. I am very concerned that mazda used poor quality metal and/or poor quality spot welds in constructing the clutch pedal assembly on the 2005 rx-8 and i request that nhtsa evaluate if there is a defect in manufacturing quality of that part. I have the old clutch pedal assembly bracket and can send it to nhtsa for inspection. I believe mazda needs to recall the cars and replace the clutch pedal assembly with a better constructed system. The replacement clutch assembly i received has the same poor quality metal and spot welds as the original part. Mazda does not seem to be addressingthis potentiality serious safety problem. Please look into this situation. [xxx]

Clutch assembly faulty design. While driving and shifting gears (manual transmission) the clutch pedal assembly snaps, resulting in the loss of ability to shift gears. After pulling over to the side of the road, the car had to be started in 1st gear to drive to safety. The thin metal tears away from around one of the bolts that holds the assembly to the firewall. This is happening on other rx-8's of people i associate with to the point that welding up the old bracket is becoming common. Mazda has not come up with a stronger assembly since they introduced the rx-8 in 2004. The alternatives to correct the issue (out of warranty) is to: (a) purchase a new one from mazda. (b) have your old assembly welded or purchase a remanufactured welded one. (c) purchase a bracket that adds support to the assembly i did both b & c, welded and added support.

Clutch dosent come back all the way up.

Identical to nhtsa action number: pe09045 my clutch pedal assembly failed.clutch un-usable.1. No warning2 clutch pedal goes limp, falls to the floor unusable3.clutch pedal assembly and mastercylinder replaced(due to bent rod caused by failure).

Clutch pedal in my 2005 rx8 broke while driving, leaving it nearly impossible to shift gears. It's a known issue among rx8 drivers, but mazda has so far refused to issue a recall.

2005 mazda rx8 with 53,000 miles. Clutch pedal has been squeaking for the past 8-10k miles. I complained on 2 separate occasions to mazdas service department and they did nothing. Today my clutch pedal snapped off while i was driving. Mazda needs to use better welding on the bracket. The two spot welds don't hold up for very long.

The clutch bracket on my vehicle broke and almost caused me to have an accident in an intersection. I can barely shift now and after reading about it i see that several others have had the same issue.

My clutch pedal broke again on my rx8 (twice in the same year) follow my link for the story, mazda needs to get their '!@#$% together. Http://www.rx8club.com/showthread.php?p=3262664#post3262664.

The clutch pedal assembly fails while driving when the 2004-2008 mazda rx-8 reaches around 45,000 miles. When the pedal fails you may not be able to take the car out of gear or put it back into gear. This could cause an accident if it happens while driving at a high rate of speed. Luckily, when it happened to me i was leaving a stop sign about one block from my home. Many people on an rx-8 forum (rx8club.com), have had the same problem occur and it is typically near 45,000 miles. Mazda does not cover this problem under warranty and they have not issued a recall.

My clutch pedal snapped again for the 3rd time in 2 years, !@#$%??? when is mazda resolve this issue?? until some one dies????

While driving a 2005 mazda rx8 i lost control after shifting from 5 to 4th gear.the clutch pedal stuck in and moved slightly right near the break pedal and would not release. This surprised me which caused me to run off the side of the road. I called a tow company to transport the vehicle back to the toyota dealer where i bought it used with 58000 miles on it.they said the clutch had to be replaced for 1400 dollars. At the time i didn't have the money so i asked for it to be towed back to a local garage. My local garage found that the clutch pedal assemble broke away from the mounting plate.this is a part that you would not expect to break. All indications point to a faulty weld. The metal ripped from the point of a spot weld. This spot weld may have weakened what is relatively thin metal for this use. I had a local garage replace the part for 500 dollars with parts and labor.the car was still under the original guarantee but mazda refused to pay for any of the cost because it was not repaired by mazda. All i wanted was the cost of the part. I explained to them that i have a safety concern if this were to happen to someone at highway speeds.

2005 mazda rx8; excessive squeaking noise from clutch pedal upon engagement and disengagement and feels loose.

Over the past two weeks or so the clutch pedal on my 2005 mazda rx-8 had been making a squeaking noise whenever depressed. The noise subsided after a few hours of driving. However, this past monday (8/30/2010), when i was stopped at a stop light i heard a soft crack. I proceeded through the intersection where shifting from 2 to 3rd i heard an even larger snap and the pedal depressed completely to the floor and i had to cut across a few lanes of traffic and safely managed to get to a gas station. The car was no longer able to change gears and the entire clutch pedal assembly had to be replaced.

The front seat belt in a 2005 rx-8 was inserted into the back seat receiver where the back seat belt would normally go.the individual that did this was unfamiliar with the car and ended up being trapped in the rear of the car.we had to cut the seat belt to get him out.we called the mazda 800 road side assistance and after being on hold for 20 min were informed that there was no emergency release and would have to cut the belt.we were also informed that the mazda dealer would take care of this as it should not have happened.besides the fact that we had to cut the seat belt to get him out, the fact that he was able to get the buckle locked into the rear receiver and could not disengage it is a serious safety issue. 1. The belt would not provide the proper safety in a crash.2. The inability to get out of the belt could have resulted in a fatality. Both the passenger side belt and the rear passenger side receiver have to be replaced at the owners expense.the repair has been scheduled for next week and is not being covered by mazda.

The clutch pedal assembly bracket breaks at the spotwelds which also breaks the clutch master cylinder and lukily this broke while starting the car

My cars steering will loosen up and stiffen up randomly also the traction control will randomly engage and the tire pressure lights and another light

Clutch pedal keeps braking every 20,000 miles. :-/this is the 4rth replacement i am looking at, currently is braking gradually. Air bags sensors keep failing every 30,000 miles and passenger airbag is cracking.

I have had to have the front brakes (due to tsb) repaired three times now.i bought the car with 4k miles and the brakes squeaked, the dealership repaired them and within 1 week they began to squeak again so i took it back and they cleaned & adjusted them.they started squeaking again i took to a different dealership and they replaced the rotors and pads again due to the backplate and pad was soaked with oil.

Front brakes and rotors replaced by dealer due to defective front brakes.brakes and rotors replaced and vehicle is now experiencing same brake problems.

The contact owns a 2005 mazda rx8.theabs and traction control lightilluminated on 3 occasions.the check engine lightalso illuminated.the dealer repaired the check engine light 6 times.the failure mileage was 600.the current mileage was 6,000.

My steering wheel turns on its own while in motion on the beltway and sometimes it difficult to steer at all while in motion in traffic. I purchased new tires thinking that would solve the problem but it didn't.

The contact owns a 2005 mazda rx8. The contact stated that after starting the vehicle, the steering wheel seized. The vehicle was taken to the dealer for diagnosis where it was stated that the steering rack needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired but the problem persisted. The manufacturer was notified. The approximate failure mileage was 106,000.

At any given time it will steer all the way to the right. The wheel will start to shake then it will rip out of your hands and go all the way to the steering locks to the right. It has now been at mazda for 3 month and $8,336 later they still cant say why or how this happens nor can they say it will not happen again....

On for said date the check engine light came on, decreased power noted then engine shut off.after a few minutes the car started without any problems.eight hours later restarted the car, drove 50 feet the check engine light came on and this time the care had no power.mazda dealer who serviced the car reported needed coils and spark plugs.on june 9th when starting the car the power steering light came on, and loss of power steering was noted turned off the car.when the tow truck arrived the light and steering where normal again.mazda mechanic could not be definitive with the diagnosis, probable b1342-eps control module.i was told take the car and if problem occurs again bring it in.on june 13th while driving the power steering light came on and again loss of power steering.drove to the mazda dealer, left the car running until mechanic could visualize the situation, again when the car was turned off and restarted the light was out, and power steering normal.the car was serviced again with the only answer to the problem was that of similar concerns involving the n-03 connector poor crimps-terminals to wires.this was the tech line report.

Steering was jerking and now power steering has stop.

My cars steering will loosen up and stiffen up randomly also the traction control will randomly engage and the tire pressure lights and another light

Power steering goes out unexpectedly, multiple fixes have been tried. Every forum option researched and the problem persists. There are hundreds, literally hundreds of complaints of power steering going out for similar reasons on rx8club.com. The power steering will be working one moment, cut out, then oversteer causing the driver to quickly make up for the jerk. Mazda please recall. All the evidence is there, and your technicians at the dealership are all aware of how prevalent this problem is. The coolant reservoir leaking coolant over the steering harness is a design flaw. Please correct this.

The problem started in july 2005, when my car lose the power steering, the dealership and the distributor trying to fix the problem, but they never fixed the car, i sent to them for 11 times between july 2005 to september 2006. One of those times the car ( mazda rx-8) lose the power steering when i drove the car at 65 mph on the highway. The steering it`s hard to move.

The contact owns a 2005 mazda rx-8. While driving 65 mph, the contact noticed that the power steering indicator illuminated as the steering wheel seized. The vehicle was pulled over to the side of the highway. The vehicle was turned off and then restarted approximately 20 times before the contact was able to regain full control. The dealer (midlands mazda, 655 broad river rd, columbia, sc 29210) stated that the vehicle was known for having a ball joint issue and it could possibly be due to the rack and pinion. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 109,000.

On the first drive of the day and especially on cold mornings, when turning the steering wheel, it over and under compensates for my inputs. This leads to it shaking and turning the wheels too much and too little.it does appear to have a bias on one direction being hard to turn and the other too easy.after a few minutes of driving, it usually goes away until the next day.when this occurs, it does not matter if the car is moving or not.

It was on a saturday afternoon. While driving there was a pothole on the road that i didn't see. I jumped into the pothole and got out and continue driving for a 2nd making a turn i than realized my steering was locked i couldn't turn my car. My engine was on and my car still moving at a pace. I step on my brakes tried to turn to a nearest parking nearby forcing a turn and my steeringjust couldn't . Luckily with a stiff turn into a parking i stopped my car and than turned the engine off and pulled the key out. Once i did that the steering was released. I did go on to the internet to see if there is a recall but realized someone had the same problem. I am afraid this can happen again on a highway and could be deadly.

Car had issue steering to the right for aprox. 5 miles, when off highway power steering completely failed at 35 mph in heavy traffic. Had to be driven to dealership to be fixed.

The contact owns a 2005 mazda rx-8.the contact was driving approximately between 10-30mph; proceeding to make a turn.the steering wheel began to stick without warning.the vehicle steered in one direction.the driver maneuvered the steering wheel in a forward and backward position to release it.the vehicle was equipped with an electronic power steering system. The failure occurred intermittently. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer for inspection. The failure was contributed to the power steering rack. The vehicle has not been repaired for the malfunction.the failure mileage was 55,000. Updated 3/16/10 updated 05/10/10

2005 mazda rx8:upon driving i heard what sounded like a loud crack.the clutch pedal on my car felt 'loose' and i immediately pulled over to discover that the welds on my clutch pedal had broken.fortunately i was almost home but i had difficulty shifting and had to be careful as the clutch pedal was making its way towards the brake pedal.(if it broke any more, it would have been difficult to apply the brake)this could have been disastrous under different circumstances.

Clutch bracket snapped while at stop sign. Unable to get car into gear.

Good morning, i have received numerous letters informing me that i have a recall on my mazda. It is the "fuel leak at fuel pump rings and fuel pump discharge pipe 1017e" recall. I have been receiving them for the past year or so. Every time i check the nhtsa website or the mazdarecallinfo.com website, it says "remedy not yet available". I am concerned with my safety at this point and am wondering just why there is no "remedy" yet available? it seems to be an important recall, in my opinion.

The clutch pedal pedal assembly broke loose and went sideways under the brake pedal.

My clutch pedal on my mazda rx 8 broke at 80,000 miles.i searched the internet and this seems to be a problem. *dt

Clutch bracket broke. Clutch got stuck to floor.the vehicle was stationary on a city street.

Takata recall making a complaint about not doing recall in a timely manor

I was driving down the highway, coming to a stop from 65 mph speed because of traffic ahead, and as soon as i press the clutch pedal it snaps. The clutch pedal now moves freely making the vehicle completely inoperable. Had to call a friend to tow my car with her truck. And even though i was able to safely stop by pulling the car in neutral and stopping on the shoulder, things could have been a lot worse if i had to make an emergency stop or accelerate.

The contact owns a 2005 mazda rx8. While driving 35 mph, the driver side floor mat became stuck under the accelerator pedal. The failure occurred twice until the mats were taken out the vehicle. The contact called the manufacturer who took a complaint but offered no further assistance. The failure mileage was approximately 34,000 and the current mileage was approximately 54,000.

Just stopped in a parking spot. Temperature was aprox 47 degrees. Vehicle accelerated unexpectedly jumping the curb and crashing through a concrete garbage can. Aprox damage $6000 luckily no one was in front of the car.

Clutch assembly faulty design. While driving and shifting gears (manual transmission) the clutch pedal assembly snaps, resulting in the loss of ability to shift gears. I was lucky and had this happen in the parking lot of my apartment complex.i hate to think what might have happened had i been on the highway with my kids in the car with me.

Dt: the consumer purchased a new mazda rx8. The vehicle experienced what the consumer suspected was a problemthat occurred while in park and the rpms increased, causingexcessive heat buildup whichaffected the oxygen sensors as well as theability to drive the vehicle.this could also lead to a fuel tank leak and ultimately a fire. Vehicle would not restart and had to be towed to the mazda dealer. The mazda dealer notified the consumerabout a recall of a similar nature concerningthe fuel tank. The mazda dealer from where the vehicle was purchased informedthe consumer at the time of purchase or afterwards about therecall.the dealer who performed therepair was completing the recall service as instructed, but the consumer was upset that she was not notified of the recall while purchasing the vehicle.recall repairsbegan in august 2005 the same month of vehiclepurchase. No other previous problems occurred. This was the first incident.the consumer owned the vehicle for 26 days.the dealer could not determine if the problem was the same as described in the recall.

I was driving under normal conditions and i was about to shift into third but i heard a pop and it would not get into gear. My pedal stayed depressed and would only come up if i kicked it from behind. I did hear a few creaks when i released the clutch the day before and just thought it needed oil. Turns out the left spot weld broke and the bracket cracked on the left side.

I went to move my drivers side sun-visor to block the sun and it split and partially came apart hitting my head and cutting my skin.more urgently, it blocked my view of the road and i had trouble moving it out of the way.for several long seconds, i was traveling 65 miles per hour, fighting with the visor, unable to rotate it out of the way because it was broken, with no forward view of the roadway. I was eventually able to move it to the side and hold it there with my left hand while i traveled to my destination.once i arrived i removed it with a screw driver.upon inspection of the passenger side visor, it is starting to split also.

Driver side sun visor got cracked at the top of the seam and now always hangs down in drivers line of sight.
